How would you rate Water For Chocolate Catering LLC?
The space is quaint and cute but the portions are friendly and delicious! The staff is hard working and personable and I received my meal pretty quickly. Everything is made to order, fresh, bright, fragrant and unique. The owner and chef definitely takes pride in each plate and welcomes all customers. I really enjoyed my experience and could not wait to share and celebrate this place.
This place was amazing! The staff is all very friendly and personable. They seem to take interest in each customer. My advice is to come on a weekday as it is less crowed. However if you have to wait to be served, definitely do it-it is well worth the wait!
Excellent late lunch; I came in a bit tired from coaching soccer all morning, and I left happy and satisfied. My wife and I had the shrimp and crab chowder and it was delicious! What I like about it is that you can actually taste the shrimp and crab, unlike some chowder preparations where you get more of thick pasty cream than the actual flavor. It had a hint of spice which enhanced the flavor of the soup. My wife ordered the crab quesadilla and it was scrumptious! The rice was a perfect complement but I think the quesadilla stands perfectly alone, which does not mean the rice wasn't any good. In fact it was; I ordered the dirty rice as a side for my Guinness hangers steak. The savory, herbal notes of the rice provided a way to sop the bold flavor of the steak (it looked like a secondary cut but it was prepared and marinated very well). And please get with it folks, STEAK IS BEST MEDIUM RARE! You get two sides with the entrees by the way; I had the brussels with maple bacon and I never looked back! I hope no one was watching me wolf down my food. Literally, I wanted to lick my plate but that would've been uncouth and by the end of our meal, I was on the brink of a food coma. The prices are quite reasonable for all that you get. They close at 2pm on weekends so check before going. You might have to go around the block for parking but you should be able to find a spot nearby. Your food is prepared upon order so don't complain that it took too long, it's worth the wait. Chef Sean, is paving the way with simple, well prepared dishes, familiar ingredients treated in creative fashion. Baltimore is the new culinary hotspot!
My mom, my daughter and my godmother made our way to the café on a Monday. Just the day before, I checked out of the Blue Door at Baltimore (B&B) around the corner and the place was packed to the gills. Monday my mother was supposed to have her heart restarted because the beats were off. When she went into Bayview her heart was back on track and she didn't need the outpatient surgery. Therefore we headed straight to WFC. So glad we did. I had been dreaming about checking this place out in May/June but I read there was a fire in the establishment so I didn't check back until I checked out of the bed&breakfast with my daughter on the afternoon of August 23, 2015. This little place is wonderful!!! I saw a film about 20+ years ago called Like Water for Chocolate at the Charles Theatre and the movie was great. Chef Sean is so nice and talented. He made a bet with my 17 year old daughter that if she could eat her turkey dinner, he would 'dash' her a free dessert. (The rest is history.) We were the first ones in the café on Monday and we were thankful we decided to show up on Monday. Sunday was a college student nightmare at 12noon:-)
Try to visit on week days. Lovely southern food with an upscale twist.
A friend strongly recommended this place for brunch. So this past Saturday my wife, 2 good friends and I decided to check it out. Everything about Water for Chocolate was fantastic. The food was insanely good. We shared everything as a table so all of us were able to try the Shrimp and Grits, French Toast, Shrimp risotto , the Chicken pot pie special, and a side of the goat cheese mac. It was so good, that when we go back we may order the exact same thing! It doesn't hurt that Chef Sean is really personable and a cool guy. He really makes eating here a great experience. All of us from our group highly recommend Water for Chocolate.
If you're looking for a quiet and cozy brunch, this is the place for you! With only a few tables and seats, this family owned restaurant is perfect.
