How would you rate Alavon Enterprises?
I have to give this place a 5 star! The food is so good I don't even know why it has low ratings. While me and my husband drove almost 2 hours for this place, I thought for sure I was going to regret the drive and the time wasted to get to this place(I was getting discouraged by the ratings). But this place has got to be the best tasting seafood in Maryland. I am a GA girl so I like some GOOD seasoned seafood, not this mess of a seafood that restaurants call seasoning by slapping Old Bay on it and calling it a day. I was not disappointed at all! Perfect amount of food for the price and had me just right(not overly stuffed but just the right amount of full I need to still have energy throughout the day lol). The only thing I can say negative about the place is that the tables aren't clean but the guy who were cleaning the tables tried very had to keep them clean, its just that so many people come and go, its impossible to keep the tables clean without hawking over people. I will be back again though!!
I wanted to love this. Saw the pics online and was really excited to try it. My wife and I stopped by on a drive home from VA. We shared the crab cake platter and a super crab boss fries. The crab cakes were not up to par with ANYTHING out here in crab country. They had a very fishy taste and tasted a bit old. Just not good. Like I said....I wanted to love it.
Outstanding....we drove from Harrisburg Pa decided to take a drive and ended up here. The food was amazing it was worth the money an the drive we'll definitely be back. The food was so good we took a few menus and handed them out here in Harrisburg for people to get down there to experience the experience....I have tasted some good seafood but this here tops it all.
My first time here. I tried a little bit of everything. Me and my kids split all the food. We have 3 half combos. Fried lobster, seafood Mac and cheese, crab cake and boss fries. Loved the lobster and fries. Everything else was good.
Simple presentation and basic decor, but the food is great. Fresh, cooked well and the sauce is really, really good. Just spent a week on the shore eating seafood. Ran across Crab Boss by chance on the way home. This was the best meal of the week.
Love this place. Wish we lived near by.
I came all the way from New York to get this seafood to be totally disappointed. I drove 45 minutes from where I was staying in MD. The sides (potatoes, corn, sausage and egg) taste old like they had been sitting out all day. The shrimps were good but the crab legs were also a bit old tasting. The portions are also quite small. I gave two stars because the customer service was awesome. I would not suggest or recommend, the price was just too high for the portion and quality of the food.
Visited the carryout location, it's a drive. Upon arrive we saw the owner outside. It appears as customers enter the employees are to say "Welcome to Crab Boss". I don't recall the 5 of us being greeted, but the 2 employees were assisting other customers. During the order process the employees were very nice. Once the owner came inside, 3 other employees appeared. That's when I noticed everyone being greeted. While waiting on our food, we noticed on the TV menu (videos), they appear to offer some food items not on the menu. View their videos before placing your order. They call your number when you order is ready. All the food is provided in carryout containers and was delicious. We ate there. Your order can be placed with or without the sauce. We were all very satisfied with our food. Look up the Crab Boss if you enjoy seafood, give it a try.
Great food and prices. Went yesterday during a busy time, and they even gave a courtesy call to keep me updated with my order. People gotta understand this is a busy place(for a reason) just order ahead of time and be patient lol. Worth the wait! 🔥
The wait is extremely long and the food is disappointing for sure. While it all may taste good you don't get whats described on the menu and the portions are very small compared to the pricing. We paid $129 for 3 crab cake dinner and 3 extra sides and we were all still hungry. It felt like we had a appetizer sampler.
This was my first time visiting Crab Boss. Let me start by saying the 4 stars is not representative of the quality of service, presentation of the establishment, or the quality and taste of the food, those items deserve 5 stars.
The rating is more so for the portions of the sides, the seafood mac & cheese, and the fact that a side cup of extra sauce costs $1.34, according to the young lady who gave me my order.
I ordered one Buss Down Blues Half Dozen with "two sides" for $24.99. However, I did not know that "two sides" was literal in every sense. My "sides" consisted of ONE 1/2 of a 1/2 of a potato, and ONE mini corn on the cob. The side of seafood mac cost $9.99, and was in a 8oz container that was the equivalent to a little over 1 scoop. As for the extra sauce, there was a customer ahead of me that asked for extra sauce and some was placed on her order, when I asked, I was told it would cost $1.34 for a 2oz cup. When I asked if I could have some placed directly on my order, I was basically told I had more than enough on my platter. The latter of that interaction is bothersome because each customer should be given the same treatment. Now for the former, $1.34 for a 2oz cup is price gauging in my opinion.
I get that this establishment is in high demand, and people will probably pay any amount because it does taste amazing, but a combo for $24.99 ( which I can partially understand since the crabs are cleaned) with LITERALLY only two sides, $9.99 for 8oz container, and $1.34 for a 2oz cup of sauce is just a lot.
I'm sure my review won't matter much, but I think feedback does when you're in the business of customer service. I would still refer friends because the food is great, but I will let them know what to expect, that way they can make an informed decision and not be taken aback after driving 30 min home and realizing what they had.
My husband and I ordered two boss fries; one with regular portion of crab meat (first photo) and the other with extra (second photo). It was very filling and worth the trip. Definitely coming back!
Came from out of town looking for a black owned business. This was such a good stop! Had the seafood mac, shrimp broil, whiting, and crab cakes. All were delicious. Prompt service and generous portions. Soooo good.
I'd give them 3 stars if the Jumbo Shrimp were cleaned. I don't want to spend $33 on a seafood platter of just crab and shrimp for ALL my shrimp to be full of $h!+. The corn with their butter sauce was heaven that was the best thing. Sausage and potatoes were average. Was not impressed with the snow crab clusters, it basically was what you get out the grocery store and you can steam that yourself. Staff was polite, I'll try it one more time if I'm in the area but definitely won't make a special trip there again.
It's ok, very fast service. The seafood could be a little fresher, but sometimes that is lost in the speed of the service or food prepared in advance.
This food always tastes great. Hands down I have rarely had a bad experiences with the food. They usually have a wait time but if you order ahead it doesn’t exist. I like the choices they have as well but I can’t give them 5 stars. Although I like the flavor I’m big on what materials are in your offerings. I think there crab cakes have way to much filler in comparison to crab. It tastes good but I don’t feel like I’m getting a real lump crab cake more then a bread cake with crab which tastes good but the ratio of crab to filler is everything to me. I also find some of there food like lobster tail only to be a bit pricey for the size. It’s 10$ but I wouldn’t say it’s worth the price per size at all. I enjoy the flavor and size of catfish In comparison to Maryland standard. The seafood rice is also on point .I don’t however find there juice/soda/water libations to be in any way appealing. But all in all they were good .
The crab cake platter was a bit disappointing. I like a good bread to crab meat ratio but this had way more crab meat than bread (I guess this could be a good thing if you want more meat). The hush puppies were really good but everything else was alright. The shrimp was not deveined. I probably won’t order this again and might stick to the crab legs next time. Also the delivery fee is $8 which is insane.
If I could give a no stars, I would. The food has gone downhill. My husband ordered the crab cake platter and the crab cake was dry and greasy (reheated) and the bottom was burnt. The fries were very greasy and soggy even though I requested them to be fried hard. I have eaten from this restaurant several times and the food has been good. Since the pandemic the quality of the food has been poor as seen in these pictures. When my husband called the restaurant, they told him this food was made this morning. As for me and my family, we will not be back.
My first visit. Food runners was awesome. Thank you Ms Charity. Even in the rain. Food was delicious. Didnt have to wait long. Website was easy to place order. We will come again.
It’s a expensive hit or miss. Some days it’s great others it’s just ok. I Ike this place a lot, staff is super nice, great service. My advice is what ever your going to order, up size it because those weights are a little off.
