How would you rate The Cozzy Corner?
Family owned restaurant and it's amazing! I had the catfish with candied yams and mashed potatoes and wow! I was looking for Southern comfort food and they definitely delivered exactly what I needed. Music is awesome too.
I had the Big Jess sandwich which was smoked sausage, pulled pork, and slaw. Not only did it taste great, it was so big I could only eat half of it. This definitely a good choice for lunch or dinner if you're hungry.
Ever since I moved up North from Texas, I've been craving southern food, and couldn't find anything to fill the void. I saw Cozzy Corner one day, looking for a place to grab food while exploring Appleton. Decided to take a chance and try it. Being the snobby food lover I am, I went in with low expectations, but I was blown away. The place has a southern music vibe to it, sort of like you're in New Orleans, or like a jazz club in any of the southern states. The staff was super friendly, and the seating was great! Booths and tables for whichever you prefer. Now for the important part...the food. The ribs were mouth watering, and the catfish tasted like how my mom used to make it. The chicken was fantastic, and the sides I've tried were delicious. The fries even come in their own basket to make you feel as though you're dining somewhere fancy. But who needs fancy dining when you've got addicting soul food that's reasonably priced? If you're ever in Appleton and need a place to eat, definitely check Cozzy Corner out. You won't be disappointed!
I can't say I am a foodie by any stretch but the ones I know love this place as much or more than I do!
Awesome southern comfort food with a fun atmosphere.
Very in joyable love the food great prices and chicken and waffles love it
The food is ABSOLUTELY amazing! The owners actually served us, talked with us and were 1000% friendly and had a truly down to earth, fun and adventurous personalities! My husband who only eats corn and peas (as far as vegetables go) and does not like ribs actually not only tried my okra but ate the okra AND ribs with me! We live well over an hour away and definitely consider Cozzy Corner our new "out to dinner" place to go!
I first heard about this place through a good friend at work, he raved about the place, the food, the decor and the music. So I decided to take my wife as short get away to see for myself. To our amazement all that my friend had raved about was true. The music for us really set the mood for an enjoyable dining experience. The service was outstanding, the food was impeccable. I am one of those that no matter where I go I have to add salt and pepper to my food but this was not the case here, everything was very well seasoned for my and my wife's taste. We had the Big Daddy platter, catfish, fried chicken, smoked sausage, and those amazing Barbecued Ribs! Now my wife is a Pepsi junky and this place served an awesome STRONG glass that set the meal off. The Cozzy Corner is about an two hour drive from our home and well worth the trip. We enjoyed everything so much that we made reservations for the following weekend! I want to thank my friend for telling me about the Cozzy Corner and Eugene our waiter for all his help in finding our way there and his service as a waiter. Truly outstanding.
Great place for authentic southern comfort food!! Had the Deep South Platter ( fried chicken frog legs macncheese green beans and cornbread). Great atmosphere blues and jazz..
Great place for some delicious southern style food. The fried chicken and frog legs were delicious and my son finished his chicken and waffles. Best of all, this is the only place I have ever been that had KoolAid on the menu! It was fantastic!!
The only downside is that this place is a bit small and can get packed on busy evenings. It's worth it though, give it a shot!
High quality southern food found in the Midwest. Very rare indeed
When you're in the mood to have some southern comfort food I don't think this place can be beat. I ordered the two meat plate with smoked BBQ ribs, fried chicken, Mac & cheese, and gumbo. My plate arrived with my juicy, smoky, caramelized ribs and succulent fried chicken. I have a disdain for white meat chicken as it normally has no flavor other than the skin. This chicken was so juicy and tasty that I'm sure everyone was watching me as I worked the chicken wings over. Highly recommended!
Best southern food I have had in a long time. Everything is seasoned very well and my husband and I ate there 3 times during our short visit. I submitted the restaurant to one of the food network shows for a visit. They are awesome.
Great food. Great prices. Generous portions. Great environment. Great people. Excellent music. Just good. Just go.
Friendly people and excellent comfort food. It's refreshing to go somewhere that isn't using so much energy presenting an image - they just focus on making great food and being friendly to their customers. Love this place.
Fried chicken is awesome. Best of any place around. Red beans and rice is delicious. One owner was super nice and even came a chatted about life for a while. Highly recommend.
The food was excellent. Large portions for affordable prices. I like the variety platters.. gives you a chance to sample quite a bit on their menu. Service was a little slow today, but they gave us some dessert for our long wait. Very nice people running this place. I will definitely be a repeat customer!! I am a happy, happy customer!!
HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED! we walked in expecting the great service we hear of and were completely blindsided.. we were acknowledged when we walked in and sat.. that was it! no one came and asked if we wanted drinks .. no one came to our table and we sat for 27 minutes! 3 servers were cleaning one booth while another literally looked at us two times and walked back into the kitchen!! and when we all got up and walked out the "hostess" said bye have a nice day! like she did not realize we NEVER were ACKNOWLEDGED!! I'm sure the food is great but I NOR MY COMPANY DEF did NOT RECEIVE COZZY LOVE!!!
I'm pescatarian so I ordered the Cajun catfish and it was the BEST resteraunt fish I've ever had! There are IVE a dozen unique, diverse side options all DELICIOUS! Even the plain cornbread is yummy! And good music, very friendly staff and fast service!
Another delicious meal with great people and beautiful music. Tonight, between the two of us: cajun catfish, fried chicken, greens, gumbo, mac and cheese. Full tummy, happy heart.
I'm new to Wisconsin so when I asked for a good southern style restaurant and this place was mentioned, I went there with a bit of hesitation. Being from Tennessee, we do a mean grilling. Got their variety platter, and I'll tell you what they do not disappoint! Will for sure be returning to this establishment. Everything was cooked to perfection. The chicken however was a bit dry, but everything else was finger licking good. The staff was nice. When I told the wait staff I was from Tennessee she recommended a few dishes for me to try. Next time I will try all those dishes she recommended!
The food is amazing, if I could give it 10 stars I would. The prices are also great, and portions are large. Very unique and cool experience! The owners are wonderful.
However, the service is hit or miss, and it usually misses. I come here quite a bit, and there are a couple servers who are excellent (including the owners ) but the rest are absolutely horrible. You can tell that they just have no experience serving. On our last visit it took nearly an hour before we were asked what we'd like to drink. A table next to us that came in after us and had a different server had their food before we had our drinks. A table near us that had the same server as we did also waited nearly an hour before being asked what they'd like to drink (or get their orders taken). When our food came, there were no condiments that we had asked for, and when I asked for them again, our food was cold by the time they were finally brought out. And this was not a unique experience, we deal with the poor service about half the time we go (again it depends on who your server is). Why do I keep coming back you ask? The owners seem wonderful and the food is that great. They just really need to get their act together and get rid of some of the servers.
Awesome staff and great soul food. The ambiance is very entertaining and awesome music. I love coming here when I am in town. Red beans and rice are the best with chicken and waffles. Must try at least once. You'll want to go back for more.
Very welcoming environment. They give you a chance to experience a great culture and an amazing cuisine. I definitely recommend the chicken and waffle but if you are on a budget check out the daily specials. Also another fantastic note is that the music they play is wondrous all classics hits. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes good food.
Good food, tables could be a bit more stable but holy cow do you get a lot for your money. We had the pulled pork fries which were good but could have used a bit more time under the salamander. Really worth the drive, we left very satisfied!
Great southern comfort food. Most reviews are pretty accurate, great food, spotty service. The last time we went, food took awhile and we didn't even get our appetizer until after our dinner came out ... A few decent beers in bottles. If it's busy, you're probably in for quite a long wait.
Great place, love small family business really making a go at it. Good vibes and good food made right.... home made fresh. Don't be in a rush.
Im from New Orleans and fairly new to Wisconsin, so when they say southern food, I say bring it!! Very impressed. True southern comfort food that sticks to your ribs. The gumbo fries were amazing! Great traditional roux based chicken, sausage, and okra gumbo atop cheeses fries. Cannot wait to go back and work my way down the menu.
UPDATE: I called and spoke with the manager who offered to replace the food. Thank goodness I called. Everything was back to the way it used to be. I have changed my 1 star back to a 5. Everything was fresh and edible and delicious. They even gave us free banana pudding which was awesome! Ty all ! #backtocozzylove......I am normally a huge fan of Cozzy and have been for a while. Tonight was just ridiculous. First, they for got our cornbread. Which they did have the delivery driver bring some back. And they gave us a piece of cake. Fine whatever. My boyfriends chicken was raw in the middle and my fish was like hard rubber. Not to mention my fish was so over seasoned I couldn't even eat around the hard parts. The onlynthing that was okay was my baked beans. I honestly want my money back for food we cannot eat. Y'all can have this back. The cornbread was like buttery cardboard. Could have just saved a trip and gave me my money back.
Everything was fantastic! service was excellent, Eugene was great! Food was wonderful. Ordered 4 meats with 2 sides and cornbread and left taking 3 entrees home I was so full. Portion size is worth more they what you'll pay!
Try the cozzy for authentic, perfectly done southern food!
I'm a southern man and I'm so glad that southern style soul food is available in this area! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Yummy!
Today I went to Cozy Corner for the first time. First of all when I go into a place to eat and where food is being prepared it must be very clean. The table had not been wiped down, there was knots and flies flying all around. I looked under the table and it appeared the walls had not been wiped down and floor had not been sweep in a while. When you serve chicken and ribs things are going to get messy, so you have to wipe down your condiment bottles, and holders. Everything was greasy and had old sticky sauce. Now the waitress came to the table and gave us good suggestions on what to order, and said she would return with our sodas, she never came back. She went across to another table to take the order of other customers who came in minutes after we did. After waiting more than 10 minutes we flagged down another waitress to bring our sodas and to take our order. It was a long wait for the food. While waiting some customers behind us had been waiting for a while before having to get up to ask for a menu from the same waitress. One other customer seated in the middle of restaurant with a party of 5 plus said "what the hell is going on around here" he then asked for free drinks because they had been waiting so long. Our food finally came and it was nice and hot. The food was good, but they definitely need a new recipe for the cornbread it was dry and crumbly. I asked for a fresh piece and the waitress told me that they did not have any more ready. I found that to be strange not have any more cornbread during a busy time of day. Once we got our food we never received our silverware, so we asked a waitress who never returned with silverware. We then had to ask another waitress for silverware. Wait staff need to be trained better, and on off days they need a through cleaning in the Cozzy Corner. When leaving a young man asked me how was everything. I told him I was disappointed with all mentioned above. He then took bill and gave me a percentage off for my trouble. I appreciate him listening , so that they can better serve their customers.
First time here and love the southern food here. The cat fish was good but with they had some sort of sauce for it, was pretty dry. The fry chicken tho was great will definitely order the chicken to go next time I believe it taste better then KFC in my opinion.
Great to see some southern flair bbq come to our area....my ribs honestly taste exactly like grilled chicken legs, so may have been some cooking mixing going on there. Not an issue for me, but wasn't a deal breaker for me. Very friendly server and staff overall. Great place.
I love this comfty place! I go in every time I get back from traveling! Also on my solo date nights!!! They are so always so warm and welcoming! Best sweet potato pie too, it's a must try!!
Not sure what to expect when I walked in. The decor was very southern and warm and full of soul. We were greeted almost immediately by a very friendly gentleman who seated us immediately. Our drinks were brought out quickly and were refilled often throughout our stay. There was a little wait on the food but only because they make it all from scratch.
The cornbread was sweet like a good southern recipe should be. The chicken was juicy and hot. The catfish was full of flavor and not dry. The ribs were tangy and delicious. The red beans and rice were very nice and the Cajun fries were a little spicy and a lot yummy. The waitress visited us often but didn't bother us. Our drinks were never empty. Overall very good experience and we look forward to visiting again.
Great food! I've never been disappointed when coming here. Great portions, friendly service and very comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere.
I have yet been disappointed in my Cozzy Corner experience. Quality, service and cleanliness is superior to most. Usually patronize twice or more a month. It has always been extraordinary.
Wonderful atmosphere, great music (not live, but excellent quality and selection), energetic and bright original murals and art pieces, and a united theme that turns clutter into the good kind of kitsch. If the food had been a *little* better I would've given it five stars, but I've had tastier Southern comfort food elsewhere--in the homes of friends, but in restaurants too--and my favorites (greens and fried okra) were the most disappointing. Who makes vegetarian greens? 🤔 On the other hand, the catfish was very good, the hush puppies heavy but flavorful, and the red beans and rice the best I've ever eaten. In fact, they were the best of ten things our table tried, including perfectly sweet, crackly, light cornbread.
One note for cane, walker, or crutch users or people not steady on their feet: the bathroom isn't very accessible and the floor is slippery from years of grease. It looks clean and shiny, and the place has a clean and well kept feel, but there's just nothing that cuts through all the grease in a place that small that serves that much fried food.
I think I missed out on the best here because I don't drink. They have a massive selection of brews and mixed drinks, cleverly marketed and paired with the food. Some beverages might have distracted me from the slight dryness all the food shared. (Except for those beans and rice.)
While parking may be available, you'll likely trek to it as it is across the street from the often packed Performing Arts Center. That being said, I hated it. Subpar service only accentuated a limited menu. And the limited menu still took too long to execute. The waitress came by far too late and the food came out at about the same pace. While they do offer more Southern fare than is typical in the area, I would never sit through the experience again to try it. If you don't believe me, just order a Gatorade. You will receive one, but you'll have no idea what flavor it will be. And that's the menu option. I love the idea of a truly Southern restaurant around here, but I can't accept a place that offers small amounts of junk surrounded by what they think is worthy decor. On that note, you can make a fun game of figuring out which of the various vinyl record album sleeves that adorn the walls don't belong.
This place is one of my favorites. There's always great music and awesome musically-inspired decor. Not to mention the food, which is some of the best around. Definitely a hidden gem of downtown Appleton!
Awesome food and service. Loved the music too. My daughter has a dairy allergy and the waitress was very helpful assuring that everything we ordered was dairy free. She gave great recommendations and we loved everything we ordered.
Arrived around 5 pm for dinner and was seated in a couple minutes. Casual attire appropriate. Wait staff prompt and courteous. Food was excellent. Ordered a combo platter and had to take half home. I had to ask for a spoon for my gumbo (delicious) and one of the sides we ordered did not come out with our meal, but remedied quickly. But for this would have gotten a 5.
Having eaten there for the first time today, I must say the staff is very professional and courteous. The god is amazing with prices very affordable. I would recommend to anyone coming g to the area or if you just haven't eaten just go and have your taste buds blown away.
Went at 4p after a show at the PAC. The place felt a little dirty, maybe because of all the grease in the air. Our party of 5 was quickly seated and our drink and food order taken promptly. We ordered 2 pulled pork meals, 2 chicken and waffle meals and 1 1 meat plate.
After one hour of waiting our waitress came out to tell us that they were out of pulled pork. So we ordered 2 chicken grilled cheese. After another 25 minutes our food came out. The waffles were almost black they were so over cooked and the chicken that came with them were 2 small legs and 1 meatless wing. The 1 meat platter had 8-10 meatless wings. The grilled cheese chicken sandwiches were not good. There was VERY little chicken, mostly skin, on the Texas toast and a bone as well. The hush puppies were flavorful but hard and dry, very over fried.
We really wanted this to be good, however it was not.
Awesome music paired with a wonderful atmosphere and great food. The service was good as well, our party of 7 was seated promptly and orders were taken/received in a fast manner. The portions are great and the food is as well. Everyone enjoyed their time here, and be prepared to bring home some leftovers. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you're looking for some unique flavors and "cozy" vibes.
This is quite simply one of the best comfort/soul food restaurants that I've ever been too. The staff is friendly and funny. The food is well worth any wait times. I wish I could take this place with me. The prices are also great!! I ate there a few times during my week long stay in the city. The place is decorated with artwork featuring 70s soul and blues artists, signed photographs, LPs, and you bill is brought to you on a 45 record. Nice touch. Of course, all that great music is playing over the speakers while you are there. Very cool!!
Food was awesome and our waitress was so nice. My family and I went on a Saturday evening, it was packed. We had to wait for a table for a little bit, but it was worth it. Nice atmosphere, quaint and cozy. Reasonably priced, with good sized portions.
Best comfort food in town. Everything is tasty.. everything! So you can change your order every visit. And never be disappointed. Ever! I leave stuffed to the gills every time and go into a slight food coma after. Don’t judge me..
A soul food restaurant very similar to places in the American South. Very soft catfish, wide variety of sides, incredible corn bread, sausage could be the best in the city. Theme of rythm and blues is unique and colorful. Great music played throughout restaurant. Awesome service, lots of passion.
Natasha hosted my rehearsal dinner (September 15, 2016) and I just realized I never rated her! Natasha and her staff were amazing and the food was to die for! She also was able to donate the leftovers to a local womans shelter because there was just too much to take with us. There is nothing bad to say about this place. I wish her nothing but the best and this location as well as her new one. Thank you Natasha!!! (:
Excellent prices with great portions. The food quality is top notch. I am VERY picky about collard greens. I've had them at 8 different soul food places in Milwaukee. This place beat them all!
I recommend the daddy plate if you want a little of everything. I got full and still had a piece of fish and a full smoked sausage link for lunch the next day.
Our daughter attends UW Oshkosh. We will make the drive to Appleton for lunch or dinner when we visit from now on.
If you had told me before eating there that arguably the best Southern fried chicken sandwich I'd ever eaten would be found in Appleton, Wisconsin I would have asked what you'd been smoking. After eating there? Hands down one of the best Southern food restaurants I've ever eaten at, and I spent 3 years living in the south and as an airline pilot regularly spend overnights trying local food. Pick your southern city: Nashville, Memphis, Birmingham, New Orleans, Gulfport, etc. The food here is as good or better than what you can find in any of them.
I have been here about 5 times and it is rather hit or miss. It is either a 5 star experience or a 1-2 star experience.
I have been there and waited 30+ minutes for a waiter or waitress and just walked out because we only ordered water. I have also had phenomenal service and excellent food.
What I can say is that the food is always superb, but the wait staff is what makes the difference.
Great atmosphere! Had the best service ever! Server was extremely friendly snd outgoing! Food was delicious! Mac and cheese was my favorite.... just needed a little salt! Will definitely go back!
I have eaten here many many times. The food has never disappointed. The decor and music give this place an awesome vibe. The fried chicken is always cooked to perfection and tastes amazing. The breading on the fish is perfect as well. The sides are always good too. Try the gumbo, it's worth the extra charge. The hush puppies and red beans and rice are a hit as well. Come here, eat some awesome southern comfort food. Your taste buds will thank me.
Decent food but terrible service. Waitresses move at 1 speed whether there’s 1 table or 10 tables. Waited 48 minutes and still didn’t get food. When I asked about it, waitress gave an attitude. We ended up leaving to go to a restaurant across the street. I was there to buy some gift cards but decided against it due to the poor service.
Cozy Corner was recommended to us for their food, but we were unable to enjoy it. We made a order for pickup and the person on the phone appeared to have attitude, (Didn't think much of it at the time) and told us 15 to 20 minutes our food would be ready. GREAT thanks I said. I get there a little early (11 minutes after I ordered) and expected to wait. When walking in I was greeted by a waitress that was complaining about how much she worked and how unhappy she was. I then wait to check in to let them know I'm there. A few minutes later I let them know who I was and what food I was waiting for. I also explained that I knew I was early and didn't expect it to be ready yet. While I was waiting I was standing close to the entrance and it felt cluttered. It had two refrigerator units that the staff was getting stuff out of so it wasn't the greatest waiting spot but there was no other place to go. Now this is why a one star. Finally after another 20 minutes of standing there another person asks what I was waiting for. I told them my name and they went away for a few minutes. When they came back they told me they were out of what we ordered. They had no substitute or anything. Now I understand this happens but not once did they try to inform me about this issue when I ordered, when I arrived at the restaurant, or when they were trying to get my order. Then I asked if they were done with the rest of the order they stated that they didn't start any of it. So if you want rude and unhappy wait staff and don't want your food I would say go here.
I have not eaten here since I've gone vegan, but this is a great place for southern food. The people are always super friendly, the service is decent, and the soul, rock, and jazz tunes are really cool, with the vinyl record aesthetic. The food is also really good and not as greasy as one would expect. The gumbo is really good, the fries are awesome (lemon pepper is the best IMO) and the fried chicken is great, but the star of the show is the catfish. The breading is great, and the catfish is always delicious, especially with hot sauce. The prices are good too; you get a lot of food, so come here if you're hungry.
Cozy corner i want to love you. I really do because some things are really good. The one way I could describe this place is inconsistent. The ribs I had last night were to die for. But, I've gotten ribs here before and they have been dry as sand. My mac and cheese I got with my meal was amazing but my hush puppies were inedible. They were so hard and dry I could have broken your windows throwing them out into the gutter where they belonged to be. Fried chicken was to die for but the cornbread was more flour than corn meal and was really yellow cake. If no one has told me that was cornbread I would have wondered why my meal was served with a slice of cake on the side. It's almost like you have 2 cooks and one doesnt care at all and the other makes bomb food. It's clear somebody cares but someone else does not. Please, I love your food when it is good. Do better please.
Awesome comfort food at great prices. Home made makes it even better! Staff is friendly and attentive. Every time we go it is an amazing experience. Love this place 💜
Came to Appleton for a car meet but we stopped here considering how hungry we were. I absolutely loved the food. Service was also very good. I will be back to try more stuff but the only problem is i live a few hours away
Chicken and fish is good. Music was very much good..filled with memories & history. Parking on the other hand bring coins if able to park close if not you will either be in a structure or parking far and walking. If you are a fan of nostalgia and creativity records/covers, pictures, and painting then you will enjoy this place. I wanted to it a half a star more. I had issues with the seasoning of my vegetables and was in a cold corner other then that all was fine.
It's a Cozzy place, decor is feels like the 60s, Jazz music, Soul music. Long wait for food they pretty much cook it fresh so that's why. Red beans and rice, Cajun Fish, smoked ribs, smoked barbecue chicken, cornbread and Waffles! It's all about Southern food. The staff were very nice and friendly! $$
stopped in for a beer and decided to eat. I had the "Big Jess" plate. Awesome pulled pork over a german sausage on a bun topped with coleslaw and barb q sauce. I got the beans and rice as a side. Too much to eat but it was awesome good. Cute atmosphere with great service.
Went there twice in a week's time...looking forward to the next time. What is there not to like about this place?.... The food is great. The service is great. The atmosphere is great. If you go, can you bring me back some fried chicken and some sweet potato pie?
INCREDIBLE. ugh, just delicious. We've only visited once but I can't wait to go back and try different things. We got chicken and waffles, the chicken was juicy and excellent. The service, food, atmosphere, and menu were all wonderful.
This place is very cozy, and the lights are very dim, so the atmosphere is super cool! The wait staff are all very helpful and friendly. However, my unsweetened iced tea tasted a little old, and the service does take quite a long time. But the food makes that wait worth it! The friend chicken is incredibly juicy and flavorful, and the waffles? I would die for them! Crispy, sweet, and ever so flavorful! Their hush puppies are perfection as well! I've been here twice and I'm eager to return!
We love the Cozzy Corner and wish we would remember to go more often. Great classic blues, Motown and R&B music. Fantastic food, just the best soul food and Southern. The staff is so friendly and treats you like family or long lost friends.
Great Southern soul food at a good price. The only place in the area I know to get good catfish! And the cornbread is delicious when they have the right cook!
Cajun and lemon pepper fries are usually seasoned rather well. I hear the chicken and waffles are delicious, as well as the Southern sweet tea.
I had long wanted to try this place because of all the wonderful looking food on Facebook. However my expectations were far exceeded. I went as a party of 7 and only had to wait about 10 minutes on a busy Saturday night. The staff was exceptional and the food was outstanding. My two year old who never eats meat enjoyed himself some fried chicken. Thank you so much for the fantastic experience, we can't wait to come back!
Food is always amazing, really enjoy the staff. The best place in our area for comfort food. My favorite are the fried gizzards, mac and cheese, pulled pork and cajun fries. Also love the waffles! Never had a bad meal or experience here.
Excellent food and service. Excellent server in Marcia. Owner stopped by and spoke with us for a good 15 minutes.
Enjoyed the ambiance. Jazz/Soul music. Catfish, ribs, chicken, cornbread, banana pudding and baked beans...all perfect. Was so full on a $15 dollar dinner that I almost fell asleep during The Lion King.
We'll be back to be sure - nothing close to this in Oshkosh.
Contrary to other posts here, there wasn't a crazy wait for our order. All 3 meals served timely and hot. The barbecue sauce...really, really good.
My friends and I had heard wonderful things about this establishment and we were very excited to try it out. We walked in on Sunday night at around 6:45, a full hour an fifteen minutes before closing. We were greeted with a lively atmosphere and great music. Our server sat us at our table and gave us menus to peruse. We had our drinks taken and served right away, and to the restaurant's defense, the kook-aid and sweet tea were both very good. Our server came back to take our orders and had made come comments about hoping no more tables came in so she could go home after a long work week, which is understandable but still unwelcoming. I asked her for a recommendation on what to eat and she suggested red velvet waffles with fried chicken, so I ordered that with a side of mac and cheese and gumbo. My friend Jordan ordered a 2 meat plate with ribs and friend chicken with sides of gumbo, lemon pepper fries, and hush puppies. My other friend Lauren ordered a sweet potato waffle with a side of coleslaw. 30 minutes pass and we're informed that we're waiting for the chicken to be done. 45 minutes pass and Jordan was informed that they don't have ribs, and that he's now expected to order something else. An hour passes and we finally receive our food. The gumbo was edible, the mac and cheese was also fair. The waffle was overcooked, flavorless, and there was almost no way to tell that they were "Red Velvet". The chicken on the inside was also overcooked, and dry. Lauren had a similar issue with her waffles being overcooked and hers were actually hard and breakable instead of soft and fluffy. Jordan, being immeasurably disappointed about the ribs, as he was looking most forward to those, but I digress. He received his food with rice and beans instead of gumbo (which they did rectify immediately, to their credit). The hush puppies were fair. The fries were unevenly seasoned, and at least his chicken was juicy and fair. As for the pulled pork, it was bland but the BBQ sauce was fantastic. We were all highly upset, and rushed to leave before close. Very disappointed and probably will not return.
Love this place! Great service and even better food! Can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. Excited to keep exploring the menu, I never get the same thing twice! The ribs are the best I've ever had in my life!
Ok, so I have to take a deep breath before I tell you all how amazing this place is. The atmosphere, the waiters/waitresses are phenomenal and the food is beyond delicious. I have ordered almost everything on the menu and have always left satisfied. The fried chicken is juicy and tender, the ribs are perfectly cooked, and any one of their sides are delectable. This restaurant is perfection from the decor to the music they play. Prices are reasonable and the only complaint I have is that the parking near the space sucks. Can I post a picture here?
My son and I waited only ten minutes to get seated on a Saturday night. We waited an hour to get our food! BUT, the food was beyond my expectations in quality, quantity and flavor! I will be back as there's plenty on the menu left to explore. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere quaint and inviting.
Stellar food. Great for literally any meal, it's all good. It's my favorite place to visit when I'm in Appleton by far. I'd recommend going three times a...read this and 165 more
