How would you rate Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint?
Our waitress was great! The food was great! I had the Catfish and Grits. The music was just ok for me. All in all I had a great time.
Great food, drinks, and music. Service was excellent. Prices are decent. Love this place.
I booked a table for 8, for Feb. 13th at 7 pm, 2 weeks in advance for a girlfriends 50th birthday party, she invited friends and family some came from out of state to enjoy this day with her. She had never been here and wanted to go and I had heard they had the best fried chicken. Well it was the first and only time, I don't know where I don't know where I heard about the chicken I had 3 bites, the mashed potatoes where tasteless I them to my dog. Around 10 pm a lady came to our table and told us we have to leave they needed the table our 3 hour limit was up, we told her no one told us about a 3 hour limit when I booked this reservation all they said is we had to be here by 7:15 or our table would be given away. We told her we haven't even had dessert yet she said get it to go.WHAT! ( They act like we were loud and acting crazy and I promise we weren't, we are all 50 and 50 plus LADIES)We asked her for the manager she said there were no managers there, so when the waiter came back to the table we asked him he said he would go get the owner. This guy came over to the table and pulled me to the side, I said no one told us about a limit when I made the reservation, he said sorry but they need the table I said this is a birthday party if I knew about a limit we could have went anywhere tin Atlanta besides here, then an elderly man walked up and said that the man I was talking too was not the manager, but that he was part owner so I explained again he said it is on the menu but he couldn't find it. ( What was on the menu was there a $5 per person charge for the band and a 20% gratuity) I said look its 10:30 pm the Lady came over to us at 10 pm we still haven't even gotten our bill yet, why did I say that the next thing I knew they sent security over to make sure we paid. **CRAZY**Are you kidding me!! We were not loud we were just watching the band by the way the lead singer was a friend of mine who I hadn't seen in years and she keep giving us shout outs. I finally just left and when leaving I didn't see any line. They didn't even offer us to sit at the bar or try to comp us at all. I would never go there again they were so rude and are looking for repeat customers.
What a cool place! Oh the music, it makes your body move because the rhythm is so inviting. The wait and host staff are super attentive and very nice. Great Southern hospitality. You must try the fried green tomatoes… Yum!
Even though, the Juke Joint stays crowded and it's hard to get a table on a Saturday night. I still love the soulful vibes and live music that fills the air. I would recommend making reservations before going to beat most of the crowd and extra money for the entertainment cover charge.
The service was good but the food wasn't that great, limited food choices, and overpriced. I'm visiting from St.Louis and was told this place had good food, especially soul food. I don't know what they considered good soul food but this place isn't it. It caters to more of an older mature crowd. They did have a live band that was okay but they charge an additional $5 to sit in the dining area when they have live music. There is no additional fee to sit in the bar area. I'm going to try my luck over at Gladys Knights restaurant where it's no sur-charges, reasonably priced, and more food options.
I'll start by saying I NEVER submit reviews unless a place is either really good or, in this case, really bad. Disclaimer: this review is only in regards to the food, not the service or the ambiance, both of which were excellent.
The deviled eggs were bland and pasty. The pulled pork was dry and the BBQ sauce was less than store bought. It came with Cole slaw, which was easily the worst I've ever tasted. The baked beans were laughable. Bush's baked beans are a million times better. The best part of my meal: captain and coke. Save your money!!!
The service was nice and very fast at lunch time. A bit pricey for lunch, but I would go back to try other menu items. I had the crab cakes appetizer that was okay and my friend had the grilled salmon which was delicious. They did have a band area set up so I am curious to go back and have the evening experience.
I recently visited your establishment for the first time tonight and to be honest I would rate the service 4 out of 10. The atmosphere was great but our server may was to busy or just wasn't listening to us. My lover and I are frequent customers to many restaurants in the area also, so we have had the best and worst of establishments.
Our server took our order, but then 15 minutes into our starter. He proceed to ask me what did I want on my salad again. It was a simple order nothing hard or difficult at all. When our second course arrived, the server never cleared our table from the finish starter we had. So it felt like clutter all over the table.
The salad was incomplete somehow my chicken was off the salad. Then my lovers order a side of mac and cheese that wasn't brought with our second course. The server didn't realize the mistake we the guest had to point it out. Side note the mac and cheese was GREAT! Besides the incomplete orders, the server never refill the our drinks or even ask if I wanted another glass wine that I surely would love. It honestly felt like a bother to call him over.
I thank you for the time reading this email. But I will not recommend your restaurant to any of my friends and family.
Everything was sheer perfection. Its rare to have eggs Benedict cooked right. Usually the yolk runs like water at most establishments...not here. The yolk was not too thin and not too thick. The crab cakes were meaty and the potatoes were very well seasoned. The live music was the icing on the cake. Will be back on my next visit.
Food and Live music were Excellent but the service was initially terrible. The waitress seemed like a fish out of water and was extremely slow with taking our orders, granted we did have a large group. She was not attentive at all. Once we alerted management, we were given a new waitress and everyone's mood went from being totally annoyed to all smiles.
The chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits were big hits with our group. Would definitely come back with a smaller group
Great, relaxed atmosphere. Nice music, great food and friendly staff. Austin our waiter was excellent. Very knowledgeable of the menu items and customer service skills gets a 10/10. A must visit if your in town and want a clean, relaxed yet adult atmosphere to enjoy a good meal!!!
The service was good. The food was awesome! The band was superb! Be careful of valet trying to get more money from you though! Thanks to the juke joint employee who helped us get the overcharged money back. We also had the best table in the house, table #2!
The issues started when I saw an inaccurate advertisement on the restaurant's website. Upon seeing this advertisement I drove an hour in rush hour traffic on 10/1 to take advantage of the offer. When I got to the restaurant they told me they weren't open and didn't know why the communication was even posted on their site. Keisha rudely stated that she would contact their marketing manager and for me to call back and 5pm. Not 1 time did she say I am sorry for the inconvenience of you wasting your time and gas.
I did call back at 5pm. I was told that my number would be taken down and a manager would give me a call. Sadly enough I never received a call.
I decided to let the situation go and still arrived this past Saturday 10/3 for my reservation. Upon receiving my ticket I noticed a gratuity amount on my bill for 18% gratuity. On their site there is mention of 18% if you have a party of 8 people. My party was a total of 7 people so I asked for the manager Sony and explained to him how they were making things worse. He took another 30 minutes to get our bills correct, only there was still 1 person's bill that was incorrect by about $60. That then took another 30 minutes for him to correct. He showed a lack of respect for our time and money. After everything finally was settled an hour later he then told me I was never welcomed to the restaurant again.
Needless to say, I looked at my bank statement this morning to see a total of 3 charges for the same amounts charged to my account. 1 has been reversed and 2 still pending. This has by far been the worst experience ever with a restaurant or any business.
We wanted to have a nice birthday dinner for my boyfriend so we decided on this place. I tried calling them several times and they don't answer the phone. My boyfriend then decided to spam them and call every second. Finally, after ten tries they picked up the phone. To my surprise, he had to put down a $200 deposit for the reservation. And on top of that, we couldn't bring a cake or even balloons. I was already upset about the less than satisfactory customer service, and to have to pay $200 to reserve a spot was too much. The service was mediocre, but the food was pretty good. Beware that they add $5 to your bill per person for an entertainment fee.
If you are going with a large party, I wouldn't do it. I would only go back for a date or with a small party.
Wish I could give it a zero! But that was not a option! The service sucked the food was cold and nasty! Will never come back worst experience ever! To top it off they charge u $5 per set per person for the band...Band was horrible!!!
I loved this place. The music was really nice and the food was great.
WORST THE MANAGER IS RACIST THE INDIAN GUY ! THE SERVER WAS HORRIBLE NO ROOM AIR BLASTING AND IT'S 35 DEGREES OUTSIDE BATHROOM NASTY ! THE CHEF SCRATCHED HIMSELF WHILE WATCHING THE BAND!!!! DONT WASNT YOUR MONEY!!
Thanks to the manager who was able to seat our party of 5 within 30 minis after being told that there would be a 3 hour wait. An employee informed us that there would only be a short wait if we could not make a reservation but we had to arrived between 6:30-7 pm. Also we were celebrating birthdays, so our waiter Elrico surprised us with a sweet treat with birthday candles. That was pretty special. Overall. it was a great atmosphere. Very nice. I would recommend this place to others and also return as well.
I met my future wife here!!! Love you Jessica! The food was good but a little pricey. Clean friendly atmosphere.
Great entertainment. The food is average. However, the customer service is excellent. By-the-way, the mango mojito is fantastic!
My wife and I were in town on business. We walked in and were seated without a wait on a busy Sunday night. Our server (Chris) quickly took care of us. I had a rib-eye, my wife had the jambalaya, and both were great! With Chris' recommendation I tried one of the moonshine drinks and was very impressed! The live band was great and the service was superb. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Atlanta and not wanting to eat a a "chain" restaurant.
I have never been to a restaurant and had the worst experience I had there. I called two weeks in advance to try to get a table for my party . On January 29th. I was told on the phone we could not make reservations on a Friday or Saturday night . All I needed was my whole party there so we could be seated. When I got there , the front girls told me I needed a reservation for my party and that it would be two hours before I was seated. Not only were we told false information the ladies in the front were very disrespectful . Once it was time for us to be seated , they distastefully asked about the 5 dollar charge for the entertainment. Now the whole two hours why we waited in the lobby , no one was asked this question when they being seated. As it was time for us to be seated they tried to seat us on two different sides of the room. We couldn't even see each other. I went to the manger about my issue she looked at me as if she didn't care . She didn't even try to accommodate us. We had a party of 15 women. These women had been waiting for this night for about a month. But thanks to the unprofessionalism of the employees and the lack of concern for their customers it ruined an experience. I WILL NEVER go back there or recommend anyone to go there,
In the world of airport food franchises, you could do a lot worse. The menu here is limited compared to their stand alone locations, but the food was decent for the money. I ordered the juke joint fried chicken, and found the chicken to be quite tasty, if a little too greasy (yeah, i know...it's fried). The side of collard greens was OK, but nothing to write home about. Overall, not a bad meal for $13.
My honeys birthday party I had reservations for 7:30 pm along with 4 others that had them (because you only allowed 6 people per reservation) we were seated around 8:30pm until a table was available. I did not understand their concept of reservations. While waiting for a table my family hung out at the bar and ordered costing over $50 when they where finally seated the waiter was disrespectful (tips are added in the bill) no need to provide courteous service when you're getting a Tip already. It's all about them making money not customer service. This restaurant need to acknowledge their customers Reservations and accommodate customers. Not happy 😞
Great music and food. Know that there is a 5$ per person music/entertainment fee included in your tab.
Seriously the coolest experience!!! Very fun, with a live soulful band, that really interacts with the audience! Makes you feel comfortable, like you can let your hair down! Food is outstandingly out of this world! Super fun atmosphere! Younger to older crowd!
Let me first start off my saying the food was g ood but the service was TERRIBLE! !! They lost stars on service! They need to clean house! We came today around 2pm and Clifford was our waiter. He was the laziest slowest waiter I've ever seen! He was literally dragging his feet everything i saw him. I had to flag him down for our food order. He stopped by the table asked us how were things with the food but never waited for a response! He never offered to give us a refill on drinks or if we wanted dessert. I actually wanted some but i just couldn't take another minute of this place. FYI I saw at the bottom of the menu that they would like you gone within 3 hours..lol so other people can sit down. And a $5 up charge for the band added. Glad we came during lunch!
I visited here last night. The atmosphere aas great, live band. I had fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and baked beans. Fried chicken was crispy and seasoned. Mashed potatoes were ok.. and so were the beans.
This place is awesome the food taste like your grandmother is in the kitchen cooking. The entertainment is phenomenal. Valet parking at the front door. Well worth the trip.
Delicious! Food was great, I had the Fried Chicken with Fried Green Tomatoes and mashed potatoes. Others in the party had the chicken and waffles - also good, they said the best waffle they'd had in a long time. IN all very good food, and great value for a real sit down place. Service was also excellent. There was a band playing when we went which added to the enjoyment. Highly recommend Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint if you in downtown Atlanta.
My husband and I have been coming for years and never had a bad experience until tonight. We especially come for the Strawberry Ms. Ciley's. However, we were informed after complaining about how watered down it was tonight that the ingredients have changed. So we ordered a new one and asked for it to at least be similar to the original recipe (with Strawberries). The manager, Sonny, sent the waitress back to let us know that we basically were stuck with it. He didn't care at all that we had a complaint. He stood there the whole time and watched her tell us about the change. Shouldn't we have known that upfront? So we were stuck to pay for what tasted like 3 lemonades. Customer service is the name of the game Sonny.
On May 3, 2016 I went to Sweet GA Juke Joint and was thoroughly disappointment. First, I was shocked at how, "mooching" they were. The place gets more than enough business not to nickel and dime guests. They wanted $5 per person for the dining room experience. So to sit in the dining room was an instant $5, before . No problem, the problem came when you were not free to order as you pleased. I wanted the smoked wings from the appetizers menu and they began to tell me that I needed to order from BOTH the appetizers menu AND the main entrée menu. If I decided against that a manager would have to come out and address it. I mean SERIOUSLY!!! I was disgusted. Then, they had the nerve to want no less than 15% in tip??? Like hell! The ambiance, I will admit it was a decent BUT...For being a higher scale restaurant the treatment and suckling service gets 2 thumbs down in my review! Pathetic to say the least:-(
I enjoyed the chicken and waffles but they loost a star on the fact that the food was overpriced (the sides were 3-4'' in diameter but were $5 each) AND on top of that they wanted to charge $5 per-person for live music. We finished eating and left an hour before the band finished setting up.
Where do I begin? This is my first time leaving a review certainly because I felt it was absolutely necessary to do so, so you all are aware of where you're going.
If I can leave "0" stars I would. My family made reservations. (Two weeks in advance) for a specific time; however, upon arriving there was still an hour and 10 min wait. The hostess was nice, but apparently not on the same page with the booking when it comes to reservations.
The server was very sweet But had no real understanding of what real customer service meant and I'll leave it at that. Took everyone's drinks and appetizer orders; however, the appetizers didn't come out until an hour and 45 mins later. With no check back in between for drink refills, to offer bread or anything. (Mind we you had already waited for an hour + to be seated) *these times are not exaggerated*
Food was very huge let down. Gumbo was pretty much a can of Campbells tomatoe soup with shrimp cocktail on top (a few small pieces of chicken- no veggies). Fried Chicken appetizer tasted just like the chicken that you fry in old that you previously fried your shrimp, fish and fries in. Now granted it was 9pm; so maybe they didn't change the oil all day?? This was the same for the catfish fillets. Besides the old oil tasted, the fish fillets, okra, fried green tomatoes, and chicken had ZERO TASTE.- honest to God TRUTH!
Mashed potatoes were a BUST. No butter and no salt or seasoning were in included the ingredients. The table never received refills on the drinks although the glasses were empty and request had been made.
Fried green tomatoes, slimy on the inside with zero taste so you just ask for extra aioli saice to flavor if you don't mind tolerating the sliminess behind the crust.
We ended up canceling ALL entrees for all 10 guests after having a taste of what we're going to get for such a high price. Take heed and DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Unless you just want to see a good performing band! So many other choices in Atlanta I suggest you do a little more research and skip the fabricated reviews on this place and go some place else
My first visit to Atl and Uber driver recommended the Juke Joint. We had brunch there and not a bad experience. Loved the atmosphere, waitress was great, food was good. I am from farther south than GA and it takes a LOT to WOW me when it comes to food and hospitality. Food a little pricey for what it was and $5 PER PERSON to sit in dining area, I think, is ridiculous, esp. considering that no matter where you are in the place you can see and hear entertainment.
I had good service and good food. I ordered the Jambalaya and it was well worth the money. They have live music and there lies my complaint. It would have been great if there was a notice on the door of who is playing and the genre to make the experence more enjoyable.
I'm from Rosedale, Maryland. 28 September for a getaway and to celebrate my birthday. Staying at the Westin Hotel. We asked our shuttle bus driver where to go for some eats and music. He told us the Juke Joint at the corner from the hotel and we did just that. Not just one night to celebrate my birthday but went again that Thursday night as well. And thinking about Friday night. The live bands are awesome , Love the Shrimps and girt just a step away from the Westin Peachtree Plaza Atlanta.
So I have 5 hours to kill in the ATL airport. I shivered when I thought of another airport meal... Really you all know what I mean. Well I actually forgot I was in the airport when I ate here. Yes seriously. I got a side salad and smoked wings. (Low carb options for you keto peeps struggling). Well I ordered a second side salad because it was so fresh and so delicious I gobbled the first one up. The wings were excellent and not too smokey. Atmosphere is excellent also. The music is just the right level to have a conversation (or I assume it was since I was alone). There is also a large projector that was showing football that could be seen from all areas of the restaurant. Shout out to my fabulous server Bo who took excellent care of me.
An unpleasant experience that caused me to cancel my reservation and send them this email:
"Making a reservation with Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint left me feeling like, as a customer, I did not matter. Before the lady on the phone even asked my name, she was more interested in telling me "the rules" than anything else. I told her it was a wedding rehearsal dinner...I was offered no "congratulations", no "thank you for choosing to spend your special evening with us" or something to that effect. It was as though it didn't even matter to her, as long as I understood the "rules"
I am happy that Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint stays SO BUSY that you have to limit people to 2.5 hours just to keep up with the demand. But in the long term, you will NEVER grow your business by making customers feel like they are just not that important OR that they are an inconvenience to you and your operations. I was told twice that you do not force people to leave if they stay past 2.5 hours, however, the comments on the review section for Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint tell a different story.
When I questioned the 2.5 hour policy, I was repeatedly told WHY the rule existed. Over and over again it was explained to me. But NOT ONCE did anyone take the time to look at it from a PAYING CUSTOMER'S perspective. And it is probably one of the most CRASS things I have ever been told while trying to make a reservation. I can totally understand "suggesting" a 2.5 time allotment, but a RULE? Especially when I and my guests were prepared to spend in the neighborhood of $1000 with you guys for one evening.
I'm disappointed because I have been to Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint once before and the food was delicious and the service was great. The jazz band was an added plus and as a former musician, I have NO problem paying the $5 for the entertainment fee.
Maybe for a less formal event when I don't have friends and family from out of town visiting, I might consider patronizing your establishment again. But after the cold, uncaring way I was treated by your associate and general manager today, I do not have confidence that my guests will have an enjoyable experience at your establishment. You sound like you are already too busy to be concerned with our little group and I feel more comfortable dealing with establishments who APPRECIATE my business."
Visiting this place while on business trip. Combination of live music and delicious southern food made for a great night! Food was well seasoned and everything I had was delicious (especially the fried green tomatoes). The band that was playing that night was fantastic and we restaurant goers were singing and clapping. Great fun! I definitely recommend it!
We heard great jazz playing on the speakers outside so we walked in to find a great band playing in the back of the room. The waiter immediately informed us that we could only watch the band in the back room if we paid a cover (no biggie) AND ordered an entree. That would only reserve us a table for 2 hours, for which the band would be playing 3 more hours. We ended up sitting in the front and watching the band through a chained fence of sorts. We had two drinks (whiskey and a mixed drink) which totaled to $25. Very expensive drink prices. Great atmosphere. Can't speak to the food as we did not try any.
Very good southern food. Nice ambiance with live music most nights. Be prepared for a cover charge. Fried chicken is next level, sweetened with maple syrup!
It was a wonderful experience. It was my dads 70th birthday and he was thoroughly pleased. We had a wonderful time. The band "in the groove" was outstanding. The food was awesome. Overall it was a wonderful evening.
Had a GREAT time with a couple of friends here! Casual and laid back, from the moment we walked in the front door, we were welcomed with Southern hospitality charm. LOVED the live music, the service and the food. AND there is plenty of space to dance if the music moves you.
Very loud environment and they automatically charge a $5 entertainment fee. Food was good if you like southern style cooking.
The live music was excellent and created a fun atmosphere! As for their most popular dinner dish, shrimp and grits, it was flavorful. If you love cheesy grits then this dish is for you, but it's the majority of the plate. I was hoping for more than five shrimp, but overall it was a cool place!
The food/drinks and live entertainment are great! The wait staff were friendly and did a great job serving me. The band "The Martans" were playing and they were excellent.
Cost to damn much. One drink n supposedly meat n 2sides $46.00 not worth it. Nice band n atmosphere
Good music. Friendly staff. A little slow. Food was just okay
Great atmosphere! The band played a variety of music. Nice date night spot or just to hang out with a small group of friends for Sunday brunch.
Live band was great, they sung some great songs, old school and new school. I had collard greens with smoked turkey, cheesy grits and fried chicken. The chicken could've have been a little more crispy but it had great flavor. The service was great and the southern hospitality of some of the other patrons was refreshing.
I love this place. A reservation required& puntuality is a must! Food is delicious, waitresses are enthusiastic and make you feel appreciated. And the entertainment?? Engages the crowd and a good mix of music old & new.
I emailed the details of my experience to the restaurant directly but since no one there seems to care, I'll just post them here.
A week prior to Mother's Day, I paid an $80 deposit over the phone to reserve our 1 pm reservation. The ladies I spoke to were polite and professional and I greatly appreciate that.
We arrived at the restaurant at 1:00 and encountered a 40 minute wait. I find this completely unacceptable considering we prepaid 50% to you all in advance to have the 1:00 seating. To be "running behind" is somewhat understandable but still unacceptable considering that we were required to prepay. Based on the reservations made, you all had a fairly good idea of how many people were coming and could have based your staffing needs on that information.
Diamonique was our server once we were seated. Although she was very polite, the level of service left much to be desired. We waited far too long for drink refills and silverware.
Lastly, for the price we paid ($40 pp) the food was not worth the cost. The price didn't even include basic beverages like tea or lemonade. Our chicken and mac and cheese was barely warm and the salad and dessert portions were minuscule, at best.
We spent more time watching Tina Turner on the screen than hearing live music, therefore, making the $5 we were charged for the "entertainment fee" a waste of money. I can watch TV at home for free.
I really wanted to be impressed with my first visit to SGJJ. We were excited to go and looked forward to a great brunch with our mothers. The prix fixe menu and live music was a great idea in theory but the execution just wasn't there.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great entertainment. My wife says, she knows when I think the food is great, I stop using my Knife and fork, and start using my hands to eat. And when the Blues ensamble is great, I stop eating and enjoy the music.
I had the chicken and waffles! It was tasty but I wish the chicken was boneless. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the live music although we could not see the performer. There is an additional charge to go behind the veil😂.
Great music, cold food, and horrible service! Manager no where to be found. Our server no where to be found for a solid 30 minutes. My dad ordered a Sprite while we all ordered water. He didn't get that Sprite until he ate half of his meal. No condiments in the joint. Literally two bottles of hot sauce being passed around from table to table to put onto fried chicken. We had to go to the bar to pay our bills so we could leave. Not to mention another server stepped in to refill our waters, get my dad his sprite. If you sit in Chenga's section please get a different server.
I really wanted to love this place but they ruined the fathers day dinner experience for my whole family last night.
Every person in your party is required to order an entree to sit in the dinning room. However, it is not in writing on the menus!!! Only the $5 entertainment fee disclosure is on the menu. If you will restrict who can sit in the dining room it should be a policy in writing. Not just because a hostess says so. What if I only want to order a drink and a salad!
Sat at the bar on busy Saturday night. My service was exceptional. My app came out quickly and I got my drink right away. Once I finished my app I ordered dinner and it came out even quicker! The food was good. A solid meal but not the complete wow factor. Everybody was nice and the live music was good. A solid night out
As always...it is a pleasure to visit The Juke Joint. From the generous hospitality of the hostesses who greet you at the hostess stand...to the warm smiles of the bartenders as they quench your thirst at the bar...to the delectable mouth watering choices of the menu...and to top it all off...the live entertainment that keeps your foot tapping or both feet dancing on the dance floor. Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint is one of Atlanta's premier night spots to unwind after a busy work week or simply get together with friends and loved ones for an unforgettable evening.
The music was Amazing which is why we wanted to come in the first place. When it came to be seated we were greeted by a nice hostess who told us to go to the back and have a seat in the VIP lounge. When we got there we were stopped by A VERY rude person we would later learn was the manager (Carol ) she walked off without explanation after we told her our plans and went to get the hostess. The hostess spoke with the manager and then seated us however proceeded to tell us that we ALL(5) would be required to order entrees. No where is that in writing and me a paying customer should be able to decide what I want to eat! After reading the reviews I see she has received several other complaints. She alone is the reason I will never come me back. I spend ALOT of time and money in the Atlanta area and I refuse to spend any here!
The Food was very tasty and the atmosphere was nice and they had a great live band the Micheal Little Trio, I visit the city frequently and enjoy many of the restaurants in the downtown area. One star is for the Management who was very nasty acting ,dry , insensitive and seem to not want to be there, I not sure if she was having a bad day or not but she needs a attitude tune up quickly before she destroys more customer's, I'm truly shocked that this establishment would have such a lousy General Manager. Line The Management Up With The Great Food Quality and you could go far.
Excellent dining experience. Our waiter was very friendly and delivered quality service to our party of 9. The musical performances were superb! If I had any extra loose cash I would have tipped both acts. The food was exceptionally good. I had the chicken and waffles which gives Gladys knight's chicken and waffle a run for their money but the real star is their fried chicken which are fried leg quarters. There is a sweetness in the batter of the breading that works perfectly. They also have peach barbecue sauce for the smoke wings that are good for everything. Drinks were great and they were strong. The only downside was parking which if we knew which parking lot to use for them would have saved us 20 bucks. Otherwise if you are looking for a good time and a pocket full of money, I would highly recommend checking out this restaurant.
Had reservations tonight for a (birthday) party of 12. 8 of us arrived at the time of the reservation, the rest shortly there after. They wouldn’t allow 2 of the folks who came later to sit in the dining room at all - told them our party had reached capacity when that wasn’t true. They also seated us in a configuration that was terrible and were unwilling to accommodate a different setup (an extra 4 seat table or pushing our table down so another chair could be added).
Also, on their website it says they don’t offer valet but have an arrangement with the parking garage behind them that will charge $5 with validated ticket. Well, I got my ticket validated by the hostess and still ended up having to pay $16 for 2.5 hours of parking.
The food was great! However the management/wait staff was ridiculously rude (for no reason)...which is enough for me not to support this establishment anymore. I really wish I could like this place, but was dissatisfied with my experience. I won’t be back.
Expect to wait, even if you have reservations. The place is very popular with the locals, so it's not the restaurant's fault, the customers are in no hurry to leave. Food portions are big but the quality was just okay. The live music was awesome, very fun atmosphere. My waitress was excellent. She was very quick and polite.
The mac and cheese side was amazing, I would go back just for that. I wouldn't go back for anything else. The fried okra was tepid and no better than the frozen stuff from Kroger.
My server recommended the fried chicken. It was a nice fry with flavorful (but greasy) skin. The leg and thigh quarter was moist and tasty, but the breast was dry and overcooked.
Thirty plus dollars for one beer and mediocre fried chicken. So glad I didn't pay the extra five dollars for the "live jazz" that sounded like the background to an orthodontist's office.
I have been here several times, the wait has always been long, with reservations or not, however besides the 2 hr wait, we were seated in a corner not even visible to the show, then the food was sub par....they must have changed chefs, the food was always good in the past....not any more. No longer worth the trip....and the band...no ma'am, no ma'am.
Renee the "short haired" bartender was awesome! She is friendly, personal, and enthusiastic and made our visit fabulous. We come here for the food and music but will now come back because of her. The peach cobbler and banana pudding were wonderful, the music was high energy and the drinks were strong. Thank you Renee for making our night out so much more special.
Food was great and plentiful. Drinks were very good too and the service was surprisingly good. We had reservations and were seated immediately. The music was awesome! The band made me dance all through dinner and then I got you work off some of that food on the dance floor. We had a great time.
Overall experience A+ rating, 1st timer Sweet Ga's Juke Joint. Call ahead for reservation, park in rear of building validated ticket pay $5 save $9. Reasonably priced menu offering good ole southern style foods...collar greens, fried green tomatoes, waffles, pork chops, mouth watering candid yams etc. Live music was awesome...guest flocked to dance floor jamming to ole school tunes. Waiter Rodriguez was on point, southern hospitality at it's best. Great party venue! Looking forward to next visit. #shonuffgd
I've never been to an establishment that made it hard for you to enjoy your evening! Shame on me for not reading more of the reviews because the story is the same...no notification of the 15min "loose your reservation" window, no speak of the parking validation and nothing said about the entire party needing to be there or loose your table, etc. The staff was good. I'd quit if I was the General Manager because she spent the night telling people they had to leave and others that they can't come in! Food good, music ok. I was celebrating my birthday and almost had it fall apart. I might come back if they change a few of their policies. Otherwise, it's not worth it.
The restaurant was conveniently located and easily visible from Peachtree St. The hostess was a little cold at first but eventually warmed up as we spoke more. The same can be said for the waitress, who turned out to be amazing. Once Jay realized we didn't bite she opened up and offered exceptional customer service. The food was well prepared and came out shortly after we ordered it. The band was amazing and had a great sense of humor to top it off.

Excellent food and service. We had the salmon and catfish dishes, and the bread pudding and peach cobbler. Live music was excellent too. We will definitely return. We made a reservation because we read that it gets busy. It was quite busy when we left the restaurant. Wine selection was very diverse. Happy happy.
This Place Is AMAZING! The Mac&Cheese Is So Good! And The Peach Cobbler There’s No Scale For It It Was OFF THE SCALE! I Asked About Buying The Whole Pan Of Peach Cobbler Lmbo! Can’t Wait To Come Back!! Live Band Was Good As Well!! Just Love It All!! And Our Waitress Chris Was The BOMB!!
First time in Atlanta and a friend recommended this place. Really enjoyed the food. There is a $5 entertainment fee if you want to seat at a table near the band and you must order an entree. Otherwise, sit at the bar no fee and you don't have to do an entree. Nice atmosphere. My waiter Yousef made me feel so welcomed and took great care of me.
Had a large party reservation. Our waitress was pleasant and patient. The manager, not so much. Half of the food (chicken, friend green tomatoes, french fries) was undercooked, and they skimped on the dessert, which was included in the price of our meal. Instead of the manager coming over to the table to straighten things out, she left our waitress with the dirty work. Some people in our party were charged a different gratuity. The contract stated valet parking was available...it was not. We were seated around 8, but didn't get our drinks, mostly waters and sodas, until maybe 8:30/8:45, salads some time after that. We didn't get our food until around 9:30 (they closed at 10).
Have had previous experiences at Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint, all good, which is why we chose to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday there.
However, I can't see myself returning any time soon. The only saving grace tonight was our waitress, who exhibited great customer service.
The entertainment was great. Our waiter was friendly however the service was exceptionally slow. Validated parking was available but apparently we parked in the wrong garage. The hostess had a less than pleasant attitude when informing us our ticket would not be validated. We had a party of 4 for my birthday. If the hostess would have been more pleasant the experience would have been a 4.
This place is out of control. We had been in line for an hour. We called and they said no wait. It was 450 ft away. We have up our reservation at Hard Rock Cafe with only 15 minutes to go. We got to this place and they said 90 minutes wait. Only an apology, nothing else. I explained that one in our party was diabetic and had taken his medicine and had to eat. Nothing from them but dumb looks. They won't ever get any of my business, for sure.
I don't have a bad thing to say about this place. Some things to know going in: if you're there after 7, you'll get charged 5 bucks for the entertainment. Parking is terrible. Men can't wear hats. If any of those things are deal breakers for you, then maybe don't come here. Assuming you're okay with that and you want some delicious southern cooking, then definitely come here. I had the fried chicken with maple glaze, Mac and cheese, and fried green tomatoes. For dessert I had peach cobbler a la mode. People around me had the chicken and waffles and the salmon. Everyone was really happy with the food. Our server was excellent. She was friendly and kept our drinks full and made great recommendations. The entertainment was fantastic! A jazz group that sounded great and had really good vocals. It ended up costing about 50 per person, which included appetizers, mains, desserts, drinks, sides, entertainment fee, tax and tip. If you were trying to eat cheap, you could get out of here for maybe 30 per person, but you'll miss some deliciousness.
The live music here is amazing. We waited over an hour and a half because we didn't have a reservation and glad we did. There was variety on the menu, good drinks and plenty of space even with the large crowd. The waitress was very attentive and met all of our needs. I loved the atmosphere and how cozy the place feels and looks. It's definitely not a back in the day juke joint, it is a classy and romantic place.
The Live music was awesome but it was the best part. We ordered the Salmon & it was delicious no complaints there but our waiter was not on his A game! I’m not certain if he was new or if they were under staffed last night but the actual wait service was not that great for $120 tab. The wait was about 20-25 min for our meal once we ordered & he never came back to refill our drinks 🤷🏿♂️ All in All I’ve been to worse establishments so I guess this spot is middle of the road for me.
Nice little restaurant. Accidentally ran across this place. They had live music (you pay extra for that) and good food and drinks. Everything was seasoned very well and the staff was friendly. Will definitely return
The absolute WORST we waited for two hour only to be told we couldn’t be accommodated. We called prior to arriving to attempt to make a reservation and were told that reservations weren’t allowed. A party of 14 and you let them walk out the door $$$ gone. Whoever the owner is of this fine establishment should really rethink the management. To add insult to injury the manager was nasty and rude. Wow! By the way they got about 350.00 from us just sitting at the bar. What more can I say Pity Patty’s Porch will last a whole lot longer. Sweet Georgia Juke Joint TRY AGAIN!!!!!
This is definitely the spot for great food and music! Our server Renee (short hair) was wonderful! She helped to make our 1st visit a memorable one. The band played old school music which we loved! Make a reservation as the wait can be a bit long - but well worth the wait. We will definitely come back. It's our new Go To Spot!
Sweet Georgia's is my go-to place when I want to have a good time and eat some good food! The live music will even have you dancing in your seat! Because of its popularity, be sure to call ahead to make a reservation. There's a $5 entertainment fee added on to your bill if you sit in the music area. Totally worth it though! I give Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint 5 stars for the food, service, and atmosphere!
As always, I'll be coming back!
This place was nothing short of AMAZING! The chef is OFF THE CHAIN! We went for Sunday Brunch & were very pleased. My meal & apps was hot & delicious, fried green tomatoes (chicken & waffles), my husbands blackened talapia was also delectable. The mimosas & live band was also on point! I would highly recommend...
The food is excellent. You have to eat the greens. The wait staff is quick and efficient, except if you exceed the 2.5 hour time limit on the table. Visiting from Calif. I really wanted to enjoy the spirit of Southern cooking and music. I arrived early to eat, drink and dance before leaving the next day. I was told I had to leave my table, because I reached this 2.5 hour time. I was told to get up and was lead out to a table in the back. Very embarrassing and disappointing. The young lady I shared the table with, requested a table. While waiting, she ordered food. When her table came available she was informed that if she wanted to get the table, she would have to order another dinner. Ask for all the hidden rules and regulations. Out of town visitors are not the most welcome.
I was at the airport in Atlanta, looking for breakfast when I spotted the Juke Joint. I ordered a chicken biscuit and potatoes. The waitress made a mistake and brought me grits with my chicken biscuit. What a blessing that was! I've never had grits before These were amazing, flavorful, with great texture! I'll be going back next time I pass through, hopefully later in the day so I can try the dinner menu. And my waitress was awesome! Thanking you for making this available to travelers at the airport.
Went for some southern cooking with great music. The food met all my expectations I had the moonshine chicken it was very moist. My husband had the salmon and he said it was good. The kids chicken tenders were large and they got 3 each. Both my kids tried the Mac and cheese which was a hit. The best part was the pecan pie. It was AMAZING!
The atmosphere is great. Loved the live band!! However hospitality definitely sucks! Hostess have attitudes and were not helpful. It's really bad for business esp when the music is loud. (as expected). For my first time visit, not a good impression. Jambalaya was good however.
Amazing evening. The food was incredible - I had crab cakes and greens, my husband had ribs - both rave reviews. The cornbread was highly addictive, beware!
The entertainment that night was The Tony Tatum Experience. I'm from Austin, TX ("Live Music Capital of the World") - so I can certainly be a "live music snob." Tony and the band were perfection, and Sweet Georgia's is a perfect venue for that setup.
Upscale food, classy crowd, music to move you, and service was superb. Love, love, LOVE this place, and I can NEVER again visit Atlanta without having a meal here. Highly recommended, and I will be back.
This cozy jazz joint is a nice place to go and relax. Food and music was great. Waffles was delicious. The chicken was savory. The extra food (mac n cheese and cheese) was worth it. When I'm back in Atlanta, I'm making another stop here.
I visited once in 2014 and had the best fried chicken of my entire life. I came back in 2018 and was very sad to find that the recipe had been changed. It was still delicious, but not the way it was. Fortunately, the fried okra, Parmesan grits, sweet tea and amazing live performer more than made up for it. I left stuffed and happy. See you again in 4 years, guys.
Fun place with live music. Great food, had catfish fingers, ribs, and moonshine chicken, all very tasty. We also tried peach cobbler and it was sweet Georgia goodness. The atmosphere was friendly, relaxing, and fun. The singer was great and even got the guest involved in the show. Had a great time at the Juke Joint!
You can't go wrong when visiting the juke joint. The staff is great. The drinks are fantastic. The menus were new this go round, but still had great options. We had the opportunity to meet the owner and his wife. They were very down to earth and personable! So long as there is music and good... We well keep coming back.
Genuinely great food here. I had their grilled trout with southern mac n cheese for take out and I have to say it was the best man cheese and best trout I've ever had. The portions were filling though not very large. Would go again 10/10. My only con would be that they do take a long time to prep the food even for take out (probably because they make it fresh). But it was very much worth the wait.
Upscale very nice and clean soul food restaurant with really good live music. I was impressed with the band and the gumbo tasted good. They lose one star though because it took forever for me to get recognition and service from a waitress, and also because they charge $5 for an entertainment fee if you sit by the performers. Gumbo appetizer was expensive and I was not told the collard green slaw had raisins. I loved the collard green slaw but took out the raisins because I do not like the prune feel. Being a resident of Nashville TN I am so used to live music so visiting Atlanta I had to come here.
The music was nice and the talent there is top notch. It does feel like the food is a little overpriced for what you get. Our service seemed like she had too many tables because it took a while to order, our beverages were never refilled and part of my order was wrong. The food has a good taste though. I ordered the omelette off of the brunch menu.
Food is amazing, music is better! Be sure to make a reservation if you want to sit in the main hall and remember you can’t have more than 6. The staff is the only down side. They can be very rude especially when it’s getting busy. Tip: even if they offer for your party to sit in the free dining, don’t the bartenders do not like waiting on groups.
I brought my family here for good music and food recently. Everyone was pleased! The music was rocking!
We had a great server. Very attentive and patient. We tasted the fried green tomatoes, catfish, greens, macaroni, fried chicken... It was all very tasty.
If you plan to have a conversation in this place, think again. It is loud but that's to be expected with live music.
I have been to this restaurant before and had great service however they must have changed management because the service we got was horrific. We waited a half an hour to be seated only to wait a hour more to get our food. A burger and some chicken. When we asked to speak to a manager, she completely threw her waitress under the bus stating she put our order in late. She never apologized for the AWFUL experience and took $2 off the bill. What a joke! Also the food was not cooked as well as before. I used to love this place not its to s**t. Id give it negative stars if I could! Once again the manager (an older black woman) gave HORRIBLE customer service, Ive been treated better at McDonald’s.
Great time! Band played good music and the food was delicious! Crab cakes were really good as well as the Cole slaw. Around my table the fried chicken and jambalaya were big hits. Pimento cheese balls are a must! Service was slightly slow and this is not a place to go if you want to have conversations because the music is pretty loud. Really good atmosphere!
Fantastic food, great live music and great staff. Wife said it was the best fish (trout) she ever had. I had the chicken it was melt in your mouth delicious. Went on a Friday and it was packed... Didn't have reservations and the wait was over an hour. Well worth it!
Ford was good but cold! When I told the waitress she offered to WARM food. Huh?! Your gonna take my food and microwave it. No your not! Please cook me some fresh and they did. It was wonderful and fresh once they got it together.
My brother wanted to take me out to dinner for my birthday and he suggested this place. We sat at the bar and were immediately asked to remove our hats. As I was devouring the excellent pork chops, broccoli and mac and cheese, I noticed the gentleman to my right wearing a hat and another group that was just seated with a couple of people in their party with hats. Not sure what that was about. Thoroughly enjoyed the live music and food.
I hosted my team here during a business trip. With 12 of us, we all loved the live (and lively!) entertainment. Great music, and that old lady can play! Unfortunately I don’t have video of that.
The food and cocktails were fantastic! Highly recommend the chicken and waffles of course.
Good food and live music. We went there for Sunday brunch and paid the $5 per person cover charge to hear the band. My wife said their shrimp and grits dish was the best she ever had. Fried chicken and green tomatoes were good too. However, the service was so slow that we thought about leaving before our food came. If they improved their service, this would be one of the best spots in the city!
We went on a Saturday night to it was packed and the wait was long. They had a live band playing so they will add an entertainment fee to your bill for that. I didn't like that but I was invited by someone so I couldn't leave. They also require everyone to purchase an entree at the table. I didn't like that either. For dessert, I ordered the peach cobbler and added icecream. It was good, but not great. I also ordered the trout. That was good as well. It was a mixed crowd with the majority being 40+. For me, I don't like restaurants that impose restrictions and added fees, so this will not be a place I will visit frequently. There are many restaurants around Atlanta that has live bands, good food, and a nice ambiance that I can go to where I can order what I want and they won't charge me for the band.
Food and entertainment were very good on New Years Eve. However, my only issue was that 1 hour and 30 minutes into my meal my waitress let me know that other people were waiting for a seat... That was a big turn off!!! Also, promptly I was ask to leave or sit at the bar when it got to 2 hours and 30 minutes. My wife and I sat in the bar area where I could see that they never placed anyone at our table. My bill was $129 at the table, not to mention my wife and I ordered a total of 6 drinks from the bar area. Not a good look to make paying customers move and then not put anyone in their place...
Soul food with live soul music. It doesn't get any better than this. We paid an extra $5/person to sit in the dining and entertainment area. It was worth the extra. The fried chicken was fried to perfection with sweetness to it served with collard greens and Mac n cheese. It was a half chicken, the breast was tendor and juicy. I highly recommend this dish. The salmon fish was served with potatoes and broccoli, also a solid dish.
The ambiance and live music. Ade this experience superb. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
We had an amazing time here. The Infinity band was everything. We went on a Friday night, it was so packed out however, we had reservations for 10pm. The atmosphere is very nice. The food was good. The collard green spring rolls were delicious. Our waitress was an sweetheart. My Friends from NY said they will definitely be back. Thank you SGJJ🙌🏾🙌🏾
This was my first time coming here and it was an AWESOME experience. Our reservations were for 7:15 and we were at the table by 7:10. The greeters informed...read this and 942 more
