How would you rate Swan Road Early Learning Center?
My 2 kids have attended this daycare for over 4 years and it's been a very good experience. Centrally located by Suitland parkway and Metro. The center is always clean and inviting for the children and parents. There have been events in celebration of the children's accomplishments. They schedule many activities for the kids to part take in during the summer camp. My kids have made great strides with the curricular and social structure. I'd reccomend this daycare center to anyone
My daughter has only been enrolled for a few weeks but I Love This Daycare , There Curriculum & The Staff. I Couldn't Be More Happy With There Service's. They Made Me Feel Comfortable Leaving My Daughter at a daycare again After A Terrible Experience with another local daycare. I love it my daughter will be here as long as im in the area. There very professional and my baby is learning i see a difference in her speech ( shes talking clearer) as well as her manners already and there superrr affordable and its a small setting. I Would recommend this center to anyone who wants quality childcare for an affordable price.
I’m not going to bash this daycare because i strongly feel like it has all potential to be great, BUT there are a lot of issues i have here staff and parents included.
For starters Ms Hope is knitting majority of the day. She need to have her undivided attention on the kids at all times.
Every time I come in several kids noses are running and she will look at them. I know if i see it then she has to see it or not because she’s knitting or doing homework.
She’s not really inviting when you first walk in either she’s usually sitting or a few times i have walked in and she wasn’t in sight of the kids.
The infants are in their carseats all day, they don’t get tummy time unless they can crawl, they dont get picked up because they don’t want to spoil them which i understand but you definitely can sit on the floor and play with them sing to them read and talk to them. It’s none of that there.
There’s a child there with a disability and he is either in the high chair all day or seated on the floor nobody says anything to him, the other kids aren’t encouraged to play with him. He isn’t harmful to himself or the other students.
This isn’t really the job for ms Hope. I wish her the absolute best but i was uncomfortable with my child being here and so was my child. She began to fake sick just so she can stay home. I thought something was wrong. I cried about it because i didn’t know what to do but she looked miserable. I am a bit much as a parent I’m very overprotective so i did call everyday but I take being a parent very serious these kids didn’t ask to be here it’s a blessing that they are. I want whoever that is taking care of my child to know that i want us all to have a great line of communication and we did not.
Side note : Ms Hope i know you can do so much better, I think you got comfortable. But as you stated you are selfish and do not want kids of your own. I don’t think you need to care for children. Ps. Open the windows to let the germs out and really clean everything in there because there are a lot of ants.
This daycare, Ms. Hope, Ms. davis and everyone else whom I had the pleasure of meeting have been a blessing to me and my child. My daughter loves it there, one of her favorite places to be. Thanks to these lovely ladies, my baby is more social, confident and making real friend. I have sat and watched/popped in randomly and yet to see any foolery like i have seen at many other places. By time i picked my daughter up her homework is done and and she is learning new skills or competing in some mind challenging competition with the other school age kids. Ms Hope has taught her how to do needle point and crochet. These ladies work hard and do amazing things with the kids from making thier own doughnuts, baking cococnut bread, they made bath bombs for mothers day, candied apples, growing/caring and harvesting fresh veggies. The kids at Swann rd are being taught to not give up and how to be good sports win or lose, how to be a good person, help each other out, and to look out for thier friends.
My children have been attending Swann Road Early Learning Center since they were pre-schoolers until now ages 10 and 6. I can honestly say I do not worry about the care of my children when they are there. The center is an extension of what we teach at home to excel academically, be leaders of their community, and treat everyone with dignity and respect. The entire staff from the Director to care workers are happy to be there, approachable, and eager to fill in the gap as needed to help with homework, stem activities, birthday parties, Swann Road Graduation Celebrations, End of School year parties and etc.
One last thing, each year we have always enrolled our kids into the Summer Programs because they are organized, fun, and engaging for the kids. Not only do they go to water parks, and playgrounds, but they go to places like the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian museums, bowling, skating, and etc.
Swan Road is truly a great place...go check it out !!!
In 2006 my wife and I began our search for a daycare provider in preparation for our baby who was due in 2007. After calling and visiting several unfavorable locations, we found Swann Road Early Learning Center (SRELC). One of the things that stood out most about SRELC at the time was the fact that they had been in business for over 15 years. Their proximity to Suitland Metro Station was a big plus as well. Just a 3 minute drive or a 10 minute walk from SRELC to the metro station. After visiting the center and meeting Ms. Johnson, Ms. Hope, and Ms. Waters (who retired a few years ago from SRELC) we decided to get signed up and turn over our then 6 week old baby boy to their care. Fast forward four years, we were now welcoming our second child, a baby girl. Since SRELC had been so amazing with our first child we did not hesitate to sign up our second. In 2015 we moved from Suitland to Brandywine, Maryland. We thought about changing day care providers to a center closer to our new home. However, we had such a great rapport with SRELC it became a difficult decision to entertain. Keeping the kids at SRELC would only take us about 20 minutes out of our way in our commute to work so we decided to keep the kids there. In 2017, our then 10 year old son decided that after being in SRELC since he was 6 weeks old, he wanted to attend the before and after-care at his elementary school but our 6 year old daughter begged us to not take her out of SRELC. She loves the teachers, kids, learning environment and simply could not see herself anywhere else. I vividly remember both of our kids being more than ready for school when starting kindergarten. They knew how to spell and write their own names, how to count to pretty high numbers, they knew their ABCs and their days of the week, months of the year as well as how to read several words. Swann Road Early Learning Center had done such a great job of preparing them for school that they were actually ahead of most of their classmates and scored higher on assessment tests. I am a firm believer that a strong foundation is key to any child’s educational success and I simply cannot express it enough how very fortunate we’ve been to have SRELC in our children’s lives.
The best daycare in suitland period.
I enrolled my daughter at this center at the recommendation of a close friend that had his kids here before, and I have not regretted it! My daughter is 7 1/2 months and she’s already acclimated to being there after 2 weeks. She gets tummy time everyday, there are 2 other children in the infant room (they’re the only 3 and they have one teacher so I know she gets the time and attention she needs) so she gets plenty of interaction with children her age. Her teacher is such a sweetheart and you can feel the love she has for all the kids, she gives me updates everyday when I pick her up about what they did as a group and how she’s doing as an individual. When the weather is nice, they take all the children outside to play (there’s a play area and swing set in the back) which I love because they aren’t just stuck indoors all day like some other places do. Not to mention it’s very affordable. Ms Hope and her staff are excellent at what they do and I would recommend this center to anyone that asks
It's truly an awesome place and I've learned they've been in business for 20+ years which is no surprise. The staff is friendly, they provide breakfast, snacks, go over homework, go on field trips and reasonably priced. Most of all my daughter loves going
