How would you rate Sassafras Restaurant?
We are visiting from Chattanooga, TN, and wanted a local, non-chain experience. We absolutely loved it; excellent food, friendly staff, and a great price. We found it by accident and we are so glad we did. Normally we would not go back to the same restaurant twice in one vacation week but this place was so nice we'll be back. They have a daily special on top of a 2 for $23 selection. Excellent value for great, local food.
I was very disappointed. I will not return nor will I recommend Sassafras to anyone.
Always great food and excellent service. My favorite restaurant in New Orleans.
Excellent atmosphere and Servers! The Sassy Burger is the best in town, just like mama would make!
A hidden gem. Fantastic service, and good quantity and quality of food. Po boys are a full foot long and have plenty of meat. The cheesecake is excellent!
Good atmosphere and not too crowded.
The service here is wonderful and makes coming back definitely worth it!
Extremely welcoming and friendly atmosphere and staff. Absolutely love the food. My mom doesn't approve of everyone's catfish. I treated her to catfish from here and she loved it. Great place to take the family as the environment is very family friendly.
Great food, but took several geological epochs to arrive.
First time dining a few days ago and I will definitely be back! Food was great but most importantly the service was impeccable! All the staff are very attentive, courteous and professional! Our server was Edward and he was professional, gave great recommendations and was patient as we browsed the menu. Very clean and cozy restaurant with elegant decor! It is apparent that Sassafras takes pride in what they do and want to make sure that every guest enjoy their dining experience! I will be back soon and definitely recommending!
Sassafras Restaurant has a nicely-decorated exterior (strip mall) and a very attractive, clean, neat, and welcoming interior. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. We ordered Seafood Platters, which came with catfish, oysters, shrimp, fries, and a delicious house salad, as an appetizer. The salad dressings were home made, and the fried seafood items were well seasoned and not the least bit greasy. Also, the portions were generous. We were all very pleased and remarked that we would certainly return. RJT
We had a great meal here. Glad it will be very close to our new home. Will return!
Delicious soul food, excellent and fast service, great ambiance
We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and we only had about 45 minutes to eat due to an upcoming appointment nearby. We could see that the dining room was nearly full and had just got even more crowded due to a party of 12 followed immediately by a party of 15 seated immediately ahead of us. Things weren't looking too good for us getting out in a hurry. However, we were soon blown away by some of the most attentive, efficient and speedy service that we'd ever experienced!
The food was great. Fresh, hot and very tasty. Salads had a nice variety of greens and went perfectly with the house-made dressings. Fried chicken was crispy-crunchy on the outside and juicy inside. Jambalaya was perfect - flavorful and not too spicy. The dinner rolls are great, too. Topped with a sweet buttery glaze.
We're glad we decided to take a chance on this place and we will be back again.
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and professional. We would definitely recommend it to anyone! Loved it!
Every part of my dinner was prepared perfectly and it had a lovely presentation. Service, cleanliness, decor was excellent.
Very, very slow service. Expect a wait for your table and a longer wait for your food. Thirty minutes to get the house salad was excruciating. Then, over 15 minutes more for the entrees. Food is ok, though a bit overpriced for what you are getting.
Food was excellent and the service was absolutely top notch. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves great food and a family atmosphere.
This a great place to eat if your from out of town and want a good old meal from new Orleans! So glad I found this place
First time ever coming to Sassafras. The owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the eggplant stack appetizer which was very good. And my husband and I split the fried seafood platter. Seasoned well. The batter was light and delicious. Everything was fried just right! It was awesome!! Was plenty for us to share and we even brought some of it home. Will recommend this place. But expect a wait on Sunday's because it is a small place. We got here at just the right time but soon after we were seated, there was a line out the door.
Food was great customer service was great on a scale of 1 to 10 there a 20
The food is abosutely phenomenal, but the service is even better! We had a wonderful waitress named Alexis, and her kindness really enhanced our dining experience. We will definitely be returning.
I've had several dishes and they're all good. Staff provides great service.
I Am Not kin to the cooks or owners far as I know. But I do know...💗💗💗💗Somebody In That Kitchen Loves Me!!! 💗💗💗💗 Liver and Grits Joint... A+
Nice restaurant with great food and service. We have tried most of the things on the menu and have not been dissapointed. It's a small establishment without much fanfare but it truly deserves to be recognized as a hidden gem.
Great food, kind/competent staff, clean and cute dining area. Locally & family owned, good for events and catering as well.
Awesome food for the money. Definitely some of the best in the region.
Service was painfully slow, portions were a little small for the price. The Seafood Sampler was good, but the Catfish Orleans and Brownie a la Mode were both rather bland. Took forever for the waitress to return with the coffee refill.
Probably could've been really good, however, the wait was entirely too long!! Although I arrived with a large party, it was no excuse for our wait for food to be TWO AND A HALF HOURS! The restaurant isnt that big to be so slow! The staff never came to check on us or even made us aware of any potential problems. While the food could actually be good, I'll probably be VERY hesitant to visit again.
Currently been seated for an hour and my party still don't even have all our drinks. I wouldn't have expected such bad service in such a small establishment.

Dominique was our server and although we came in a few minutes before closing, she still greeted us with a smile and provided excellent service!! The food was amazing!! We had the fried catfish plate and the fried chicken platter!!
The food was pretty decent but our server was lacking in a major way. She was not attentive to us and we had to keep asking other servers to get us the things we needed. She didn't offer us dessert or to see if we needed anything else. Bad bad. The prices were reasonable I would consider going back of she didn't serve us again
Sent corn back, even it was spicy. Pork chop and mashed potatoes good. Husband liked shrimp and okra, but it was little spicy for me.
Service is ridiculously slow! Hope you have about 3hrs out of your day. Good catfish though
This place is absolutely wonderful. I have been here several times and have never had one bad experience. The food is delicious, its family friendly, i love the atmosphere, love the decor and LOVE the fact that alcohol is not sold here. I would ALWAYS recommend this restaurant and i don't belive that the prices are unreasonable b/c the portions r so generous - u can share meals. I just wish they were on the Westbank.
This was my 2nd visit and really looking forward to another great
experience.??? Please note this was 2 weeks later.
We placed our order, inquired about sweet potato fries and advised they only serve those on certain nights??
We ordered an appetizer and our meal. About a half an hour later we
inquired about the appetizer? It was almost ready? This was dip and chips?? Finally brought out and a minute later our meal was delivered.
I think the appetizer had not been ordered or over looked.
The fried chicken tasted as if it had been fried and then heated or refried??
The shrimp grilled shrimp salad was presented with about 6 baby
shrimp hidden with cheese/some type of cracker/ sliced olives on a bed of less then cold greens some wilted? I asked for extra dressing, which
was supposed to be pepper corn, which was some sort of ranch and was
informed it was .50 cents extra and then received about half of the original portion?? This for the cost of almost $14.00?
The place was noisy, the music was loud enough that I had to keep
asking my dining partner what he was saying across the table in the booth.
There was a person seating people with clothes that looked like
she had just come from a picnic with a camouflage cap on her
head. Maybe this was supposed to be a funky style??
We remarked that this was most probably due to Ms Sandra Duckworth
wasn't there. She then appeared and started removing dishes and
acted as if she had never seen us in her life. I even tried to initiate a
conversation and was ignored. I didn't expect hugs and kisses but at
least be cordial to a customer who she had talked to for awhile 2 weeks
This will not be a problem again for her of the staff as I won't be back.
SAD SAD SAD DOWN HILL IN 2 WEEKS
Amazing food! Every dish has generous portions of seafood, no holding back! Great find🖒
We really loved it. Great atmosphere and our waitress Erin was such an amazing person didn't rush us and attend to all we asked for. We will surely visit again. Pls go check them out and u will not regret it.
I have patronized Sasafras on several occasions and at one time the service was great as well as the food. However, my last FEW encounters were HORRIBLE. The floor manager is unable to manage the flow of the tables, servers take awhile to acknowledge, the wait for your food is over an hour, and then your order is wrong or you don't get your meal. Being a black female respecting black businesses is extremely important for me and investing in black businesses; it hurts me to say I am through with supporting this restaurant. I have made multiple excuses saying the service will get better, but no more can I provide excuses for horrible service.
Such a great little place. The food was amazing and our server Erin couldn't have done a better job. You all need to move to AZ and open there! Thanks for making our first trip to New Orleans very memorable.
Erin was a fantastic server! Very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Great atmosphere and excellent food.
The service was acceptable. Friendly wait staff and clean interior, but kitchen failed to alert wait staff that some menu items weren't available. Decent meal overall.
My first visit yesterday, very impress with the food, cleanliness and the overall services. The owner was gracious and friendly. She shared her story (because we asked) about the restaurant name. I felt her passion and love for this place as she spoke. I definitely recommend it.
If I had it my way, there’d be a Sassafras in every neighborhood. Authentic. Delicious. Always Hot. And Always worth it.
Customer service was spot on! Food took a while to come out but it was worth the wait. We started the meal off with warm honey buttered rolls and salad with homemade dressing with (extra) sweet lemonade. I had the shrimp and crawfish pasta (delectable) my cousin had white beans and fried chicken. She really enjoyed her food as well. Will definitely visit again when in the area!
Best place in New Orleans! Had a great time, people were friendly and most importantly, the food was amazing!!! I actually feel bad about trying it, because now I will always want to have more but can't since I live in Florida
Service was excellent! Food was very good, and was a good size portion, enough that I made a second meal out of it. Will have to go back sometime to try the Sunday brunch they offer.
The food was so good. I had the fried fish and my husband had the liver. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves good quality food. Also you can save by using Groupon.
Gumbo is great! I over look the staffing issues because of the quality of food. Definitely a repeat.
I tried Sassafras for the first time last night because of all the raging reviews. Unfortunately I am sad to say I was disappointed. The food was mediocre. Average at best. The baked macaroni was tangy with a very weird taste and the bread roll hard. The chicken had flavor but it just wasn’t a good one. The staff was kind and my food did get to me quickly. I had really high hopes but they were crushed.
Food: A. Service: B. Time: D. Server was nice and helpful. The food took WAY too long to arrive and there were a few items (salad / mac and cheese / gumbo) that were simply forgotten. But the food was great. P.S. if you want beer/wine/alcohol - no dice.
The first time i visited this restaurant the service and food was good. Today was a disaster. We waited for 40 min for a table, not a problem but to wait 45 min to be waited on and another 45 min before we got our food, was unexcusible. They had served other tables their food and people were finish eating and we still were waiting, and these were people that were seated after us. What infuriates me most is to serve me food thats over cooked. My chicken still had the feathers on it and was so dry that all could do was stop eating. I came from out of town for my moms birthday party, to go to church and then dinner with her. We even had to wait to pay the bill. There were other problems that i care not to mention. This was my husbands first time and he was so disgusted he said it was his last time.
Food was amazing. Well seasoned. Got a great groupon so we had the pleasure of sampling 4 dishes. We had the bell pepper plate, fried shrimp, crabilini and another dish. They were all good. The staff was friendly. We will return.
Awesome experience all around. The food and service were both fantastic. The restroom was super clean. Free wifi. I will definitely be back!
Always good food when. I come into NOLA. Never disappointed. I always order the Gumbo. I also order Sassy Signature salad with grilled shrimp awesome. Big salad plate.
Normally a good experience but tried brunch there for the first time. Very disappointed. Long wait to order! Seems there was some mixup with the staff. Waitress had to come back to confirm order. Food took a long time . We were told they were backed up in the kitchen. The bus girl did provide rolls while we waited and was very accommodating. Our waitress was a bit confused.
A must see restaurant for everyone in New Orleans. This is a community staple location. Everything is consistent. Food and service and atmosphere
We absolutely love it here 💝
If you are looking for a place to get some good side items off the menu, this would be a place to consider. If you are looking for a place that takes their time to cook your meal (and I mean REALLY take their time), I would recommend them. It took us an hour and fifteen minutes to get our food. If looking for good customer service, run the other way. Here are a few highlights from our visit: When we came in, three different people came up to us at three different times asking us what we were there for. We kept telling them that we were waiting for a table and they kept disappearing to the back of the restaurant. Once we were finally seated it took about 15 minutes for someone to be close enough for us to wave them down to ask who our waiter or waitress was. Then it took another 15 minutes for us to get our fountain drinks. Once we ordered our food we were told that they were out of catfish and that we could just get the red fish as a substitute. It wasn't until he brought out our tickets that we found out the $6 price difference in the two fish. We were under the impression that a "substitute" would cost the same amount. The waiter's reply was, "You saw the menu." The gumbo that I personally ordered was a "bowl" size but it came with very little meat and rice in it. There were maybe four small shrimp and four thin slices of sausage. I asked for extra rice and was given a very small scoop of extra rice. I definitely would have went elsewhere had I not driven 30 minutes just to visit this place. The entrees were not worth the money, but the sides (the green beans and macaroni in particular) were good!
I am a vegetarian and I really enjoyed my food! The service was excellent and the vibe in the restaurant was nice, relaxed, and chill. My friends love seafood and they said it was best meal they had the whole weekend we were in NOLA. Highly recommend you pay Sassafras a visit!
Went there for lunch with family was greeted and had order placed in timely fashion. After sitting there there for several minutes another family sat next to us and also was greeted and placed their order. Several more minutes pass(about 30) and we still haven't received our food while the family sitting next to us already received their food. Asked to speak to manager, who was kind and understanding, to see why we had not received our food. After going in back for some time she came up front and said that we had just placed our order ( meaning that waiter had obviously forgotten to place the order) told her that was not the case and that at this point it has been 45 min and we had still yet to receive anything or even see our waiter other than when we placed our order. She spoke to owner in attempt to rectify what had been done after expressing my disappointment. Restaurant owner delivered food and did not sympathize with the fact that we been waiting just under an hour for our food ( which was bland and tasteless). I understand mistakes are made and I appreciated the fact that he covered most of our bill but after the attitude recieved by waiter and owner left us regretting stopping in. Next time just own the fact that user errors were made from waiter, apologize and sympathize.
I was really impressed. We stopped in without reservation on Father's Day and the place was packed! They were still able to seat us within 15 mins. Overall wait time for drinks and food was a little long, but totally understandable and worth it! My husband ordered the half and half with shrimp and catfish. He said it was the best catfish he has ever had, and the shrimp was fresh and delicious too. I ordered the chicken bernard and so glad I did! Amazing! Perfect amount of spice and was melt in your mouth tender. Sides were all good as well. Service was friendly and prompt. We hope to come back next time we are in town. NOLA has some great food, and this place is definitely one of them!
Great food and just awesome service from Keisha! Was a gathering of three old friends. They let us visit and talk and talk and visit without ever feeling rushed. Great place!
Awesome food. My friends and I were recommended to come and we were absolutely satisfied. Many of us were first timers and we had our first NOLA food experience tainted by the famous restaurant “Mother’s” but our experience and our waiter Donovan were great! It was a little bit of a wait in terms of our food being delivered and they charged $.50 for every little thing.... outside of that, the food quality was exceptional. Would definitely recommend and return.
Man this place is a diamond in the rough its off in a shopping center in the very last space and it does it no justice. It should be out in the front so everyone can see and experience such awesomeness! Absolutely wonderful place to visit.
This isn't a good representation of New Orleans cuisine. The staff is friendly but the food just doesn't hit the mark. I ordered crab cakes and those were the worst I ever had. The filling isn't flavorful and my first order barely had filling on the inside. They also didn't have a roumalade sauce to go with the crab cakes. The crab cake would probably be a better hit if they baked it and put some more effort in cultivating a distinct flavor.
Absolutely enjoyed my dining experience. Quint eatery. Friendly service. Delicious home cooking. My husband and I had a weekend getaway and was taken to Sassafras for dinner. We all enjoyed our meals. We definitely go back again and again.
Great food and service. We decided at the last minute to go here after my fathers funeral. We had a party of 25 and they accommodated us graciously considering no reservations..Thanks
The food was good and the staff was amazing. The General manager also answered questions I had about the foods seasonings and by his response I am will to bet that he has some kind of culinary training or back ground. Me and my family will be back for the good food and sevice. Try the crab cakes and the eggplant.
They have the best seafood pasta I have ever had. I tell everyone about this place. I took my wife last weekend and she loved it also. Wait staff is top notch also.
Sassafras is a great spot. Delicious food and great friendly staff. The portions were ever so generous. Will be back.
The food and service was great! There were four people in my dining party today. The catfish plate was awesome! Also, the okra and shrimp plate was good! I will definitely return when i come back to New Orleans!!!
Very friendly staff. Great food. Absolutely loved the atmosphere. You get so much food for a very reasonable price. The gumbo was my favorite!!!
Fresh food! It tasted SO AMAZING. The service was perfect. I will always come back when I visit NOLA!
Walked in Sassafras Last Saturday saw there was only one party in the restaurant seated at a center table. My fiancé and I sat in the waiting area to be seated. NOT one NOT two but 3 servers walked by one by one within reaching distance of us. and never acknowledged us sitting there over the course of about 15 minutes. You don’t treat patrons this way it’s too easy to let someone know you will be with them shortly.
Great food, great service, great prices, and great atmosphere. The smell of the food hits you at the door as if you're walking into grandma's kitchen. The po'boy and fries meal is my FAV!!! So nice to find a place like this away from the hustle and bustle of the quarter. Definitely worth the drive. This restaurant is a "must have" whenever I visit NO from now on.
Came in Saturday morning group of 2, no one was here so waiting 10 minutes for a waitress to come by seemed much. Then 20 minute wait to get water before we just went to the bar to get water. Then one plate came and my friend was finished and waiting before my omelette finally came. Food was good, but service was very poor. If the place is still around in a few months I'll give it another chance, but there are plenty of great breakfast places close by.
Breakfast on Sunday morning in the downtown location. Service was not good. They were out of biscuits and bread, but didn’t mention that until food delivery. Grits were terrible. Watered down and watery, not creamy. Sausage was good but was only a very small piece. There are at least 15 places within a 5 minute walk that would have been better.
Edited to add that pancakes and waffles were not good, whipped cream was curdled and sour. Got those to go and didn’t realize till I got up to my room.
I love this place the food was great. Nice cozy atmosphere laid back . The staff was awesome. Their staff was over the top nice. Everytime I come to New Orleans my family and myself go here to have dinner. I will continue to do so.
To be clear: the food was delicious, but here are the reasons why I don’t recommend this location:
- The woman at the front, disappears from the dining area for 5-10 mins at a time and it’s clear that the other staff were irritated with her as well
- - She gives you wait times that don’t mean anything because she’s overwhelmed with the entire restaurant
- Tables sat empty for 10-20 minutes at a time while people lined up, parties of 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 all waiting
- It took 30 minutes for them to take our order once we were actually seated
- They messed up the order and delivered regular chick platters instead of all white meat chicken platters and it was agreed that they would deduct one dish from the bill, but the lady in the front made the waitress literally take back the pieces of chicken from the chicken platter plate that were not white meat before correcting the bill
It’s sad to see a place with good food but no idea of how to run a business and give good customer service. It’s not enough to be “nice” because the actions of the front of house show show poor service. There was one young woman who tried to make things better, and the kitchen sent some sweet rolls out, but the end tire family experienced was bad.
We order food that never came and paid for the iced tea they brought us but no retribution for their mistake. It was a birthday dinner celebration.
It seems to have lost there touch at the lakefront location. Service and food was fantastic but now the appropriate word would be........it SUCKS. And it's sad because it's the only white table cloth restaurant we have in the east.
I would give this restaurant a 5 star but I have had poor customer service on a couple of occasions. It is always too cold and sometimes the wait time is bad when there is no reason. Still the food is extremely good.
Enjoyed the experience. Great atmosphere, savory tasting food. Service was exceptional.
OMG! Run here ASAP! The staff is so friendly and welcoming and the food is unbelievable! I thought I had tasted amazing catfish before. Sassafras has everyone beat in my book. This place was amazing and I wish I lived here so I could have this all the time.
Sweet waitress and sweet owner. But, food is very basic (not worth price although it isn’t terribly expensive). I had a salad. Took an hour to receive food.
The food was good and the service was good. We had the large fried seafood platter. It had fish, oysters and shrimp served with fries, but you can sub the fries for something else for a small fee. The older lady uses a demeaning tone when she talks to people and can be a little snappy. Don't let this deter you because you don't have to deal with her if you don't want to. Lol. Ask for Deja. She's really sweet.
Stopped in on a Friday and the special for the day for mustard greens. I ordered that with the fried chicken, side of Mac and Yams. OMG. Not only did it taste like it was right off my Mama’s table, but the yams were the best I’ve ever tasted. Waiters were nice, but not always paying attention. However, the Owner was there to assist with any issue that arised in the restaurant. I watched her take care of another guest issue with a smile on her face. She even stopped by my table to see if my food was fine.
Great service by Jolie, the waitress, and the Chef George was amazing. The food was great and better than the famous restaurant that everyone goes to in New Orleans. The catfish, macaroni, peach cobbler. Chicken and bread pudding were all scrumptious. We visited this restaurant more than once during our visit. We will definitely dine here again if we are in the area!
This is my 3rd visit because of an incredible food voucher that I purchased from Groupon.com.
Since I enjoyed the flavor of the food after eating my 1st take out meal, I decided to buy 2 more discounted food vouchers for my 2nd & 3rd visit ~ and I must admit I enjoyed the flavor of my food each time.
The only thing I'd recommend for the restaurant is to hire more servers. It wasn't gratifying to see 1 young man answering phones, waiting tables & catering to take out customers "all alone".
Other than that, my food was enjoyable :•)
Really enjoyed my food! The service was excellent and the vibe in the restaurant was nice, food quality was exceptional. Would definitely recommend and return.
My favorite restaurant, by far. Small restaurant that serves the best tasting food that I have came across in a long time. You know how you try a new place and the food is good but when you return, it has fallen off. Well not this place!!! Food has been great Everytime I go. Superb customer service!! Like a neighborhood spot where you are treated like family. Every visit is ended with a handwritten Thank You on the receipt.😍😍😍
If I could give no stars for service I would. The food was great! But it took over 2 hours to get it!
The food here was amazing! My friends and I are in town and I chose this spot for lunch. You can't go wrong eating here. There were 9 of us and everyone had something different and said it was amazing!
Love their food! Its real southern and Louisiana cuisine. However, their customer service isn’t the best. I haven’t dined in, because I always get take out. Ordering is available online!
The food is amazing! The little lady who normally works the front of the house is a jewel! We normally go on Sundays or anytime friends and family come into town. Resteraunt is clean, nice ambiance and not on the tourist trail, so you'll run into a lot of locals. Catfhis Orleans is THE dish to get. They give very gracious portions so count on left overs! Whoever is in the kitchen has been touched by God because this food tastes like home.
Negative, service is extremely slow- not bad- but slow.
I can't think of one server who intuitively refills drinks or anticipates that napkins, straws or a dessert menu is needed. Make sure you have appetizers before your group arrives.
Our last visit was a phone-in pickup order. Called in at 1p, was told order would be ready in 30m. We arrived and waited. We didn't receive our To Go order until 2pm.
Gumbo outstanding!!!!! House salad is only a very small amount of iceberg lettuce. For the price should be at least be spring salad. Also charge for additional salad dressing. Why?????? BBQ sauce yuck
Well, I tell you what... The first time I visited my friend loved the food. The second time I visited with a different friend we felt the same. The food was just okay. Nothing we're going to run down the street after. We had the fried fish, green beans and macaroni and cheese. That is how that plate comes without substitution (if I remember correctly). My friend had fried green beans that had a too thick coating. The green beans tasted fresh and not frozen. The macaroni and cheese was fine. The pairing is a bit on the heavy side with a large piece of fried fish and macaroni and cheese. Perhaps they should offer a fresh salad. They also had homemade rolls. Glazed with butter. As nice as it sounds they were a bit dry. I bet you are wondering why five stars. Baaabee that peach cobbler will have you fighting. My friend ordered his. I had a taste of his and he had a taste of his and he wouldn't give me another bite. So I ordered my own. We took it to go. It's better fresh in the restaurant.
Was in N.O. visiting. Asked about where we can eat at and got suggested to eat here. Tried it for the first time last night and food was awesome. So, decided to try the place again don't have nothing bad to say about the place. I'll definitely be back though.
Such a lovely quaint place. The staff is very knowledgeable of their items on their menu. A very good selection on the menu. I highly recommend giving them a try. You can't go wrong
Very Disappointed with the experience provided. Placed a to go order (2 pasta based entrees).
Both entrees were packaged & bagged w/ less pasta than sauce.
Seafood pasta was lacking seafood, literally arrived home to a container of cream sauce & angel hair pasta ( had I not requested additional pasta before left it would have been just sauce w/ a fork full of pasta).
Scoured my dish for 4 baby crawfish tails & no shrimp.
Was very disappointed in the service that I received from this establishment first I go online to look at the menu to place a to go order and when I arrive the price of my food was higher when I explained that the online price was different it was told to me that the owner has not updated everything as of yet online and their prices just changed this week I of course explained that the owner not updating the website should not fall on the custome. second the lady that took my order did not know that they were out of a side and I was called and offered another but along with me placing my order I was asked what type of salad and dressing would I like because it came with the order up on picking the food up i explained that I did not get my salad and then it was explained to me that my order does not come with.a salad..no remorse that they have associates quoting incorrect things no offer to correct the situation being that it had nothing to do with the customer and just rude about the whole situation
On arrival we were told we would have to wait. Okay, a 30 minute wait for a table of 2, no problem. Once we were seated, it was another 20 minutes before we were acknowledged. Then we were told they didn't have cups to give us drinks. No clean dishes right now. After that all I heard was, I'm sorry, we don't have or we are out of straws, fries, potatoe salad etc. We got catfish, Mac &cheese, greenbeans and spinach and artichoke dip and the food what's great!!! So, I don't know if this restaurant has a management issue but those two waitresses were stressed and overworked. The wait time was almost 1 1/2 hour before we can get drinks that were drinkable (drink machine wasn't working properly) and the food. Staff did the best they can with what they had. Again great food!
Ordered oyster and fish and gumbo. Got oyster and shrimp.
Fried shrimp was alright , too much batter.
Oyster was better.
Gumbo was definitely not worth 6.50$ a cup. Barely any flavor.
All in all food wasn't spectacular. Gumbo was a let down.
My order was messed up, they forgot to give me the cup of gumbo I've ordered. It was nice of them to take the time to deliver it (was 5 minutes away).
The food was not good at all.
The waitress brought out bread to the table which appeared hot, soft and buttery but taste OLD and COLD!!
I ordered a grilled chicken plate (can't even remember the name of it) with mashed potatoes and asparagus.
The chicken breast was good but those so called mashed potatoes were horrible.
They were swimming in grease and the 4 asparagus I had on my plate were over seasoned and over cooked.
My husband had some kind of etouffee dish that was OK.
The food took a long time to come!!
Maybe it was a bad night for them but we won't be returning.
Solid good food. Ole' Treme Jambala Combo was fine. It was a little lite on the shrimp and sausage, and they were small pieces. The grilled catfish was excellent. Dry Rub Baby Back Ribs were flavorful, but not falling off the bones. Terry did an outstanding job as our server. Vegies, broccoli and green beans were both overdone.
Food was fresh and delicious. Staff went above and beyond after the door dasher ran off with my food. I highly recommend
The food was too salty and potato salad was a bit greasy but the people were very nice and professional. Just curb the salt and I would have given them 5 stars
Perfect place if you want some good food from some great people. 😎
I spent 6 days in New Orleans and this was the absolute worst food I had my entire trip, and it was my first meal upon getting to the city. I would give 0 stars if that were an option. The gumbo was burnt and watery, the pasta was so overcooked it was mush, and even the salad was wilted. I do not recommend eating here at all.
There food is drastically over priced for the service and quality. When they're not messing up a simple catfish platter they are making simple mistakes. The food was subpar and overpriced. The dinner rolls were old and stale, the red velvet cake had mold on it, and the fries were old, cold, and hard. I try to only support locals businesses but I guess they figure they can do whatever since they're on a "certain side of town" will never eat there ever again.
Food was very bland, I mean had no taste whatsoever. What really annoyed me however was that I spent 20 dollars on the fried shrimp platter and there were only about 10 shrimp at most in the entire plate. Then they want to charge extra for sides as well when the main dish isn't even worth the amount you're paying for. You could go to another restaurant and pay the same price and get 4 times as much than what I was given. Overall very disappointed. (The one star is only for Patricia, she is very kind and helpful.)
Stopped in for lunch and had the special for the day. Greens and fried chicken with yams and macaroni. OMG. It was so good. Tastes just like your mamas cooking, that’s if your mama can cook. The waiter got a little lost at times. But the food at this joint is worth the stop. The Owner comes out and says hello. She even brings you extra cornbread. I was greatly satisfied.
Fried pickles and everything else 😊
My favorite soul food spot in New Orleans!
Amazing. First time and I love it.

I used to love this place, but I just ordered bread pudding and seafood pasta it's watery and cold. The cheese cake taste like wiped cream cheese and water. What happened to the flavor, what happened to the chef 3 months ago. I need a refund. I spent $53 for tasteless, watery, cold food and this is not what I expected I'm very dissatisfied.
Really enjoyed eating here. I had a Groupon for $20. We got the special, baked chicken with yellow rice and green beans and added an extra side of mac n...read this and 126 more
