How would you rate Yoshi's Oakland?
Great sashimi at Yoshi's. Ordered the hamachi (yellow tail tuna, my 'standard'), as well as, sea weed salad - excellent. Service was the best! Also ordered grilled salmon, ribeye, spinach salad, etc which were good (and too much food - had to take left overs). The prices were very reasonable for the quality and not "jacked-up" because of the location. Great place to eat if in Jack London Square or before a concert.
Amazing Sushi and shasimi (their albacore tuna was to die for).
Good choice of wine and some interesting dessert. Didn't do the jazz session though. Note upscale place with upscale prices.
This would be a 5* except for 2 things: food & reservation people at the restaurant that have an attitude. Yoshis Oakland is always high on the list for live music, and generally a good sound system.
I go here often -- food isn't anything particularly special, prices are steep for what it is.
From here on, I'll go only for for the shows and take the time to lineup to get a decent seat.
Came here for a small birthday gathering. Sat in the sunken table zone (forgot the formal name for it). Had a fabulous meal, with impeccable service. The peach Sangria was yummy. The veggie tempura "fritter" was a elegantly nice twist on a Japanese menu staple. As well the strawberry rhubarb cobbler dessert was something TO write home about. A tad pricey, but it's not out of the range I'd expect for a place. The concert venue is very well appointed, drinks in here are pricey (and the Pom-tini was undrinkable, unless you are into booze that smells like paint thinner).
While I didn't deduct a star for this, it is a bit concerning to me - no where on the ticket or ticket purchase page (that I, or anyone in our group, can recall) was there mention of a drink minimum in the showroom, but as we get seated we are told there was such. I'm not against such policies, I just wish I had known about this when buying my ticket to factor that into the costs associated.
I attended the benefit for Bruce Conte last night. There was a huge assemblage of talent on the stage and it was very nice to see the outpouring of support for a wonderful musician. Props to Dave Mathews for organizing the event and acting as MC.
However the sound crew was simply awful. Apart from a long and loud blast of feedback, which is actually forgivable, it was evident that the engineer did not know who was being featured much of the time or didn't care, as soloists were left buried in the mix and singers were almost inaudible at times. Patrons were looking back at the soundboard with looks of frustration and curiosity. Normally the sound at Yoshis is quite good but this was unprofessional.
This was the second time that we went here. Ther first time was a cool experience, with the raised dining area and kind servers. The sushi was anything but special, seeming a little food courtish menu selection and not very fresh or flavorful fish.
This time confirmed the food but dropped another star. The place was crowded as it usually, but there seemed to be only one waiter for the whole raised section. He was nice enough but completely fouled up our order, not bringing us our drinks, forgetting our appetizer.
The rolls we ordered were as ho him as usual, with mid to lower quality fish for $14-18, which is kind of inexcusable seeing where we are and the quality of the competition. The one roll that was completely terrible was the supposedly signature geisha role , which came out with the tempura stale and cold and slathered in cheap bottle sauce.
Not coming here again.
The perfect place to relax, enjoy an elegant atmosphere, a fine dining experience and great JAZZ music.
I love the cultural diversity of this place!
Yoshi's has exquisite food and great high quality sushi. If you plan on eating there, make sure to catch a jazz show as well. The actual theater is fairly small and can feel crowded, however it adds to the feel of the place.
It was a crowded event, had dinner reservations for 8:15, for a 10:00pm show, but the lobby was full of people who also had reservations for around the same time. I think they were not prepared for this, after about 15 minutes they got this sorted out. The manager Will went out of his way to make things right, which we really appreciated. The food was pretty awesome, had the salmon which was perfect, and the chicken, which was a little dry on the ends, but again they really went out of their way to correct this, and made this a great night. The sushi is also fantastic, without special sauces on top, like other sushi joints. Their executive chef really knows his flavors. Yoshi's really tries to make your experience great, thanks Will! I had not eaten there in quite a while, and usually just saw the concerts. Now I will have no hesitation to come and eat there, great food, great concert, great place.
Restaurant: We came for dinner at 6:30 before the 8PM show. Plenty of time. The food was good; not out of this world, but good. Good sake selection. But the service was rather surly. Our server was not friendly at all. Did not give us a warm feeling. I might go back again, but would not go out of my way to go to the restaurant if it weren't for the show.
Show: First of all, let me say that I am a big fan of Niyaz. I love their music. I saw them at Yoshi's in SF a year ago and really liked the show that they put on.
But the show last night in Oakland was a big disappointment. The singer, Azam Ali, was as graceful and as gracious as ever. But the sound was horrible. It was overly processed and too loud. Now, I like loud music, but not when it is so processed that the nature of the individual instruments can't come through. Every song was like a aural assault.
The show was short, too, which I guess is OK since the sound was so tiring. We attended the 8PM show and I don't think it lasted much more than an hour; total music time, that is. In contrast the show I'd seen last year in SF was longer with more variety and with much better sound.
I will probably go and see them again, but not at Yoshi's. And if I do go to Yoshi's Nightclub again, I will be sure to sit in the back half of the venue.
The food was excellent and there was even live entertainment. First time there. Can't wait to go back again. Service also very good.
Great music. Good drinks/sushi but expensive.
We had a very nice evening and felt that we were part of the family. I grew up in Floral Park and have never before had the pleasure. I will be returning.
Quality is pretty good almost as good a others I've been to. Serving size is small. I'm going to need 5 sushi orders to fill up at about 15 an order. For what it costs I expect a little more.
Even though I'm pretty critical this place is a lot better than the average sushi places that I've tried.
Ok. Get ready for Yoshi's... and it's all good. Good for a business team trip across the bay or a date or a relaxed night alone or with a lover. You get an atmosphere that smoothly transitions from relaxed to shi-shi cushy while having excellent food and really top notch musical acts in its separate, private ticketed music hall. That's the kind of business you can spend an evening out without leaving. The sushi is VERY good semi formal and $$$ but worth every penny. Service is kind and bustling busy moving quick but not too quick. They have created five distinct "environments", from the front bar to the sushi bar, the Japanese pine gazebo village to the formal dining room and of course the music hall. Highly recommended for a wide swath of humanity.
Not for those looking for cheap sushi or a quiet romantic environment or a very expensive refined hooitie-toitie experience.
I'm sure the jazz is great. This review is about the restaurant.
The food is so expensive. I don't actually know what you're paying for. Its definitely not the actual food or the chef who prepares it although I would give 4 stars for the black sesame creme brulee.
I ordered duck breast- medium. It was a more like medium well done but that's not my issue. The problem was that there was no taste, it was almost as if the meat had been used to make a soup and then seared. Sushi here is not made with the right rice nor is it treated with vinegar on top of that it is served room temperature warm. Not the nicest.
Servers are warm/ pleasant, a little slow
I really enjoy lunch at this un- pretentious place. The sushi is very good for lunch, and their soups are huge and filling. The misdo soup is some of the best I've had, and the environment is relaxing. I wouldn't make this a special destination, but it's good food at a reasonable price.
Loved the sushi and Kenny Lattimore. ♡
Visited for a live jazz event and loved the place. Great atmosphere and service, if you are heading to Yoshi's for a live event you are going to enjoy it!
great jazz at a good price but the seating is really uncomfortable.
There food is good Japanese
Awesome venue to see and hear a performance. Sound quality is top notch. Wait staff is tops too. Just a block away from Jack London Square. Validated parking. Enjoy! ;-)
This is a great place to go see artist and get an intimate feel. There are really no bad seats. Because it is small the seats are also very close together and often end up sharing a small table and space with people you don't know.
I have coordinated a wedding at Yoshi's Oakland. This is such a lovely place to have your dream wedding here. The atmosphere was so romantic and intimate, and the food and catering service were outstanding. All of our guests enjoyed the wedding here!! I would highly recommend it to our new couples.
Absolutely fantastic gyzoa lasagna. It's gyoza wrappers and eggplant are in a sauce that simply " busts da lips". A MUST try dish. The miso soup is very good. The Snow Monkey sushi was superb, loaded with shrimp. The sorbet dessert was as great tasting as it was beautiful.
Food was terrible and service was 📛 bad
Cool ambience for the evening, the band played good music most of it was jazz
Food is bit on expensive side.
Great Sushi, great music, worth every nickel!
The place is beautiful! Good food.. Not amazing. The little sushi shack near my home is more creative. But it's a nice date place or something.
The service was great. The food was even better. And the venue for music is the best I've seen for a jazz a club
The seared Halibut was excellent and the Mango Sorbet with fresh berries was delicious. The service was very good.
A must go for jazz lovers in the area! Absolutely fantastic and the restaurant next to the club is decent and serves in the venue directly until 9pm sharp. Don't be late for the show! The adjacent parking can be validated at the reception. Very convenient. I will definitely go back often. With places like that and top performers coming on a regular basis at Yoshi's club, SF does not have to envy Chicago for Jazz. There is also similar great places for diners in music in Chicago, don't get me wrong, but this is a blessing for SF. This place should be landmarked!
This was my first time to Superstar. Everyone in the group loves this place. They ordered for the table and it was all good. The stand out dish was a crunchy salad to start that was sensational. Service was very, very good. I'm looking forward to the next visit.
Love Yoshi's. Great food, drinks. The BEST place to see a show! Small venue, personal. It's like being friends of the band.
The entertainment is always enjoyable and the dining or lounging atmosphere is great. Went to see Angie Stone!
Nice atmosphere, fresh fish, and nice presentation.
Love the souffle - all of them. Haven't had a less than mediocre dish here. And the atmosphere is just so welcoming. The wait staff is top notch. I've been here a couple of dozen times at least and can't think of one time I left unsatisfied. It's location keeps it something of a hidden secret.
Everything was outstanding! The staff was so friendly and the food amazing.
Great jazz, excellent food. Love this place. I would say that Yoshi's has the best sound quality of any music venue I have been to.
I have gone several times to hear musicians I have never heard of and they were all great. And the musicians I do know were outstanding.
The food was amazing. I also stayed for the show following dinner and it was amazing. The seating is a bit tight but all-in-all the whole experience was great
Would be great if they had more room for seating, it can get a little tight. The venue has the best performances and it feels very intimate. Again if they took out about 2 seats on each side of the room it would probably make for so much more room.
They are liars! They asked me if I wanted them to call the police for the issue I was having with the Asian female bartender and I never did drugs shoot. They threw me out and did not even call the police station because they were violating my party!
Food was really good! Enjoyed dinner then went to the show. Angie Stone was great, sound was great. One star off because they cram you in there too tight and if you want to get up and dance forget it - not that kind of spot. If you like to sit and listen, just be prepared to squeeze in at your tiny table. Otherwise, great drinks, food, sound and artists. Will be back... with different expectations :-)
This place is awesome in so many ways. It's a beautiful restaurant work great decor and beautiful views of the Bay and Jack London Square. The food is superb and the Jazz is exquisite. Whenever I'm in the Bay Area, as a foodie, I always try to make it to Yoshi's
Very loud. Very expensive. Tables too close together. Bus waiters snatch your plate without asking before dish is empty and stack dirty plates in your face, ask you to hand them stuff across other guests, and don't keep water refilled. Beet salad tasty $11. Classic Sashimi fresh $20. Vegetable tempura $13. Shrimp $ scallops fritter (mostly onion) $16. Beef skewers appetizer delicious 5 for $16.
Great venue with great food and good staff. They are extremely attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend checking it out!
Second visit to Yoshi's. Saw Eric Roberson perform. Absolutely awesome. Yoshi's staff is top notch! From the initial greeting to seating and service they are attentive and professional.
This is a good spot for a nice meal. Nothing blew my mind, and service took a little long (without check ins from our server). Got the wrong food delivered and then the wrong drinks delivered to us, but was corrected when I notified the server. When we got the correct food it was tasty and enjoyed it. The live jazz was a nice touch as well but we did not stay for the entire show.
Great service for our group of seven. Beware of fast prep... Sent to kitchens real-time, so don't change your mind a moment after!
Great atmosphere! Visibility from every seat. good acoustics. Headliners! Staff were friendly and accommodating. Great place to go get your live music fix.
Come for the concert (really great!)
Musicians are carefully selected and truly awesome. When Peter White started playing Paul McCarthy, it gave me all the chills...
One cons: if not for the convenience, I'd skip the food (very mediocre...)
Saw Avery Sunshine. It's an intimate atmosphere. Enjoyed my table mate. Enjoyed greaattttt music from her.
The Food was great and ambience was fun and lively. Service was a little slow and even though they forgot to bring out the dessert ( they never got it out after repeatedly ordering it). We had a good experience.
This was my worst experience wver at Yoshi's. I did not have dinner, so I did not have a reserved seat which meant I had to walk the entire venue checking seats for availability. After all of the checking, I find not one seat open. I am then told to wait while the staff checked for seats, she never came back! I then stood for almost 30 minutes before my friend went and asked a staff member for our money back. At that point the staff member asked why and she told him because we don't have a seat to watch the show. The staff member then told us to follow him and he took us down front and seated us. Why would someone who purchased tickets back in July when they first went on sale be subject to that. Needless to say El DeBarge was exceptional, just not my initial experience at Yoshi's Oakland.
Perhaps the best Japanese food you have ever enjoyed coupled with excellent service in a modern full service restaurant that also includes a Lounge with world renowned Jazz performers. Highly recommended.
Went for the first time last Saturday and the food and service were both excellent. I heard Robert Cray was playing Tuesday and went back and had the same great experience. I look forward to a future visit. 💓🎵💓Food 💓to go to Oakland!
Amazing food and the jazz club afterwards was great as well! Larry and his sextet played amazing music for us all night! Service and the interior was good!
But Goapele was great.
I ordered a dragon roll & a chicken teriyaki bowl.
I felt at if it could have a little hotter.
The food was great and the servers were very helpful. I went there and surprised my gf with a show and they were willing to be discreet with checking my tickets and giving my seating placement.
I am extremely grateful that we have Yoshi's here in the East Bay. She runs the very Best Jazz Club and gets such a variety of acts.
From Goapele to Tower of Power & from Nancy Wilson to Sergio Mendes, you KNOW are going to have the best time you have had in a cool minute.
Let's give a shout out to their Awesome staff who obviously work super hard and have the sweetest gig.
Great jazz club. Recently they have done some much-needed improvement. It’s my go to venue for great music.
A great venue intimate and up close every seat is a good seat I would recommend that you check out your favorite performer or performers whenever they are at this place
Enjoying the group Confunkshun! Nothing like old school "Funk"!!! Thank you Brian!
Love the Oakland site better than the SF. It is more intimate and there’s nothing like hearing the train go by during the performances. If you don’t feel up for sushi, you can get your hand stamped and dine elsewhere beforehand. Parking gets validated. It is my favorite jazz venue—so intimate. There really isn’t a bad seat in the house. Highly recommend!
Surprised by how good the food is. Perfect place to have dinner before the show. The theater is intimate and acoustically nice.
Nice spot! J holiday and up being a bit of a comic too
Fairly pricey but you are here for dinner before the show. The food is not bad, the fish can be fresher but overall decent. The service was really good. Friendly, efficient. The best part about having dinner here is you get priority assigned seats. With that said, you must come to dinner earlier since you will get better seatings.
The Music Venue:
Very cool stage, great intimate atmosphere. Contrary to what others say there are bad seats in the house if you are way off to one side. You would want to be in the middle even if you are further back. The seats are comfortable but quite packed.
Bilal performance was fabulous! The food and service was great. Although there was a power outage near the end of the performance nd throughout the building, Yoshis staff quickly got everything up and running. 👊💕
The food and staff great along with wonderful shows and music
A great jazz room worth your time and effort. There is great dining at their restaurant before your show. Your waiter will reserve you a seat in the showroom while you dine. This assures you best available seating. The room has great sound and the view is good from the back wall to the stage. The public parking structure is right around the corner and validation is available for a parking discount.
Nice, intimate venue for performances, but it can be crowded up close to the stage. Upscale Japanese Restaurant at the venue. Food is good, but prices are slightly high. They have a decent appetizer menu and serve both appetizers and beverages/libations in the theater. I've never had an issue with food, service, or performances at this location. I like this place.
What a great jazz club! The entertainment schedule is amazing. There's an adjoining bar and restaurant to get yummy food before the shows. The club is close to the water and next to a train that runs through town. Be careful crossing the street!
What a superbly great place! Staff was fantastic, very attentive and helpful. Their Saki selection was extremely impressive and delicious. The sushi was top notch and the dessert wonderful. Will be glad to eat here again on my next visit to the area.
Hands down the best jazz lounge in the Bay Area. Go early for your show and get a bite; they'll reserve a table in the theater for you if you do. They have excellent shishito peppers, highly recommend the Kobe beef skewers, and if you're into sushi; it's amazingly fresh there. For rolls: geisha and snow monkey would be my top recommendations. Finally, be bold and try the plum wine. It pairs well with the spicy rolls and peppers.
Great service. Good food.. I'd like to try more of the menu. The jazz was incredible! Classy place with other things to do after the show and/or dinner
My husband and I come here to see concerts as often af possible. The atmosphere is extremely peaceful. The crowd is usually very mature. No matter where you sit during the concert, it's way better than an arena. Very intimate setting
Great small venue with state-of-art sound system and design. Get there early and have dinner at the restaurant. I had the Kobe beef skewers as an appetizer and cedar plank grilled salmon for dinner. Both delicious!
I love Yoshi's. We were going to a show and only had dinner so we could have seats reserved for us. Well, dinner was worth it. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. Do not pass up the Kobe beef skewers. There's a very nice sake selection.
The salmon was good however, I was caught off guard by the $73 price tag for two pieces of fish. If you are going to see a venue of the sort like a show, some kind of artist that showing there you need to be early and have dinner because those who do get preferential treatment when it's time for the show to start. At least this was my experience. Four stars is good enough. I will go again but I will be more informed to get the best seat in the house
Great venue to see amazing artists up close. Seating is tight, like New York. Nice sound system. I didn't order food, but it looked good!
Service was awesome. Food was delicious. I loved that they got us a seat assignment for the concert we were attending there after dinner. We will definitely did that again in the future! I love the ambiance.
The food is awesome! The sashimi melts on your tongue. The drinks were so so, some good some not so much. We stayed for the concert and had a lot of fun. Great location, great food :)
Yoshi's offers a great experience every time. The food is sublime - some of the best sushi and sashimi I've ever had. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Yoshi's!
Great place to dine in and catch a show. Local and world renown artist, hot new talent and timeless favorites, Yoshi's has it all. Bonus if you happen to be someone who supports community activities you can rest assured knowing that your dollars are doing just that when you support Yoshi's. 😉
Very close to home so love it when there is someone I want to see. The sound quality is very good... although I was extremely disappointed with Music Soul Child's sound last year. No seat is bad. There is a variety of artist. The food is over priced, but we still usually have dinner prior to shows just to make it a full evening.
Yoshi‘s in Oakland is a world class restaurant and jazz music venue. It is famous for its live jazz music. It has been in business for decades. The room is cozy and there’s not a bad seat in the house. So many top jazz artists have performed here, and many of them have recorded live albums here, that it is definitely an institution. The fact that they also serve wonderful food is a big bonus. They even validate for parking! Sushi, tempura, and great live jazz! Wow!
This is a huge landmark and one of my favorite places to go in Oakland. I don't know what I would do if they closed this place down. It's the go to for all my entertainment desires. This is a very classy nice place and where some of the best performs go in the World!
Love this relaxing venue.. classy..good food and music.
Great service..I became addicted to the Salmon.
OMG..off the hook.get my Omega threes and then some... Romantic too
Another great time at Yoshi's restaurant. Our service was great. We had a bite to eat at the bar took my daughter who is in a wheelchair. Everyone was so nice. Toni Toni Toni performed I was not happy with their performance. Would not go see them again.
Awesome music venue. Not a large concert hall, intimate so can really see the performers. Never saw a bad show. Food also great. If you eat dinner here beforehand, they will reserve you seats in the music venue which is a great plus for popular shows.
I love, love, love seeing Eric Benet tonight!! He was amazing as always! I enjoy going to Yoshi but I wish they would improve their seating. It would be wonderful to not sit under and so close to others and would be nice to see the performance without looking around the person's head in front of you. Otherwise wonderful show!!
Just saw Brian Culbertson live on New Year's Eve 2018 spectacular concert. I loved Yoshi's because the venue is so small under 300 people in the audience and they book great musicians, if you eat dinner before the show you can request great seats!!
We definitely had a good night out. This place is fun. The food was good, the service was good, the ambiance was good. I'd never been before and didnt know what to expect. It was good.
Yoshi the restaurant is nice; its intimate, a little dark and a little sexy. It's a nice e place for date night if you like that kind of food. We ordered 3 appetizers and the bill came to $53. One appetizer was 5 shrimp. The shrimp were only ok. If it was not for the nice ambience and live music, I would never return. It's nice to experience once or for a concert.
Now the seating inside for the concert was HORRIBLE unless you're small and short. I have included a picture of my knees hitting the chair in front of me. The tables was so small, there is no way 4 people can eat at one time. Probably wont be back, just uncomfortable.
Angie Stone put on a nice ONE hour show for $59... per person. 3 stars because the restaurant and the show were both nice.
I have never been too a bad show there. It's a very cute & modern spot to have Japanese themed food & drinks. Gets very crowded before and after shows. Nice crowd. Dress up or don't its still gonna be a blast!
Magical, perfect, romantic. The ideal spot for a nice dinner and show. Would gladly take the flight up to California again for a show at Yoshi's. Food is superb and the service is sublime. 5 stars!
Yoshi's is always great! Very good service. Outstanding sushi and the entrees we're amazing too. The sushi is so good we often skip entrees, but last night, for Valentine's Day, they had a prix fixe menu The whole dinner was amazing! I encourage you to try the spare ribs.
I remembered it fondly from my college days 20 years ago, but something hasn't aged well. Nowadays it strikes me as adequate. The food is over-sauced, and the quality of the fish varies a lot. Some is obviously fresh, some a lot mushier. For the price you pay, you can get better food. Not the worst choice in the world if you're there for a show though.
Food always amazing. Service quick- so quick that I managed to speak one sentence at my table of 4 between ordering my roll and having it appear at my place...freaky fast! Cocktails very good..bartender calm and crafty. Music awesome if you choose to attend and event but the amazing food alone is enough!
These guys are great! I was on tour and played Yoshi’s. After getting in to Sacramento I realized one of my expensive custom harmonicas had fallen out of my case. I called them and they were able to find it and mailed it back to the East Coast for me! Can’t thank y’all enough for the help!
Depending where you are sitted in the restaurant, it can feel cozy or not. I wonder why there is a cozy section with tablecloths and comfortable benches and the rest of the restaurant is with chairs and no tablecloths. The waiters are friendly and professional. Going early, we didn't wait long for our meal. The fish was fresh and the overall experience was positive.
This place is a great spot to eat and enjoy some great music. The sushi is always fresh. Great atmosphere for a dinner date.
Fusion Japanese style. Decent rolls but I do find some of the rolls too saucy as well as some of the salad. The atmosphere, space and ambiance is nice. Service was great. Loved the layout of the restaurant. Recommend making reservations to get a table. Would definitely go back and try other items on the menu.
This place combines two of my favorite things: jazz and Japanese food. Its history alone makes it a must-visit if you're from out of town. The sushi is good, but the entrees are where they shine I think. It's upscale, but they even have a kids menu!
The food was amazing, though a bit pricey. The venue is perfect for the performer we came to see. My only complaint is that they literally pack people in like sardines. The little bistro tables are not meant to seat 4 people, especially up against the "balcony". Those with longer legs push those behind them further into the aisle, I'm sure it's not fire code compliant.
We never got our California rolls but did finally get our drinks. I know its a live show but dang... I've had better service from here before...
I love the staff and vibe here. When Mr.Hiro and the other co owner made the place they put very good attention to detail when it came to making everything at Yoshi's. It shows from the design down to the food. I recommend this place to anyone who likes good food.
Great food and drinks. We saw Michael Henderson tonight and it was a good show. I really enjoyed myself.
Yoshi's is such a fun night out! I love seeing a show here while eating sushi! It's not my favorite sushi but it's pretty good and for some reason getting to eat sushi while watching a show makes you feel good!
Great customer service from staff! It was a very comfortable atmosphere. Lyfe Jennings performing up-close live in direct #don't get no better than that...
Yoshi's is a great place. Food is awesome, entertainment is next level. Simply marvelous!
Fantastic spot! Sushi was absolutely amazing, as well as the service. Great ambiance. Loved the hot Sake. A must for special occasions. Saw a show as well. A fun night.
The food is always prepared to perfection. The staff is very welcoming.
All of the ingredients used at Nightshade are always fresh. They seem to care about the quality of food the kitchen prepares.
Reservations are a must.
Went for a show. Enjoyed the show however, our waitress never brought us our drinks. We had to go out to the bar and get it ourselves. Not happy about the service. She never came back to our table at all after taking our order
We did not eat there so i cant tell you anything about the food.
We went for a show only. While the venue itself is really cool and intimate, they changed the start time without notifying us and we missed the opening act who we were there to see. Such a bummer!
We also didn’t realize that you can reserve tables in the theater so definitely do that. There are servers for food and drinks but it seemed quite slow. We went out to the bar to grab drinks.
Yoshi's is the best place in the San Francisco Bay Area to take in a concert. Yoshi's concert room provides an intimate setting to really enjoy a musical experience. There isn't a bad seat there. Yoshi's even have a 'Meet & Greet' where you get to meet and use your own cellphone to take pictures with the artists. The food and service is always excellent at Yoshi's. I've seen numerous concerts at Yoshi's and will definitely be back.
Not a bad seat in the house! Best for an intimate experience with your favorite artists. Drinks and small plates available during the show. Excellent for a date night, lovers and friends.
Not one bad seat in the house. Great crowd. Everyone is very friendly. We were there to see Shirlee Temper, what a great show!!
Came here for dinner and a concert. Great service and food in the restaurant, they also reserved our seats for the concert venue so we could take our time with dinner. The concert venue had good sound and seating (views are decent from practically every seat), service on the slow side.
This is an upscale Japanese food restaurant located close to Jack London Square in Oakland. The food is high quality, the service is very good and the staff perform in an exemplary manner. This restaurant is clean, nicely appointed and I enjoyed the atmosphere. There is also live music in one area of this restaurant, for which tickets are sold as you enter the building. On this occasion of my visit, the tickets were $30 per person. I came solely for the food and didn't hear the music, so I can't render an opinion on its quality. Parking is easy, as there is a large city-operated parking structure within one minute's walk to the front door of Yoshi's. I ordered a lot of food and one drink for my guest that resulted in a bill for about $179, tip included. I feel that the amount I spent was worth it. I'll go back there again in the relatively near future.
Such a great venue for concerts. Artists seem to really bring their funk and creativity to this space, which makes each show really unique and special. Their sit-down table service shows are especially fancy.
It was Great food!! Food was hot and cooked to perfection!! Our waiter was WONDERFUL!!! A tall thin African American Male with glasses, soft spoken and attention to details. He topped off the experience. Thank You!!
Good food should coincide with good service...definitely different when ordering food inside the show venue. Chaos...!! not enough wait staff to adequately service customers ..those that were present did their best with what they had. Congratulations to them... Management needs a refresher course on Service
Always a great time At Yoshi’s. Get there early for the best seats. I would love to be able to pay a little more for the up front seats. We are not local and travel to this venue. You must go there and order dinner for the better seats. If you hit traffic or work you won’t get good seats!
The staff are always friendly and helpful. Food is great. Prices are quite high. 5$ signs if you know Yelp. You won't be disappointed but know you will pay for the food, service and ambience at a premium level. Concerts are always fun. You can get drinks and food at your table in the concert.
I bought tickets to see Jonathan Butler and really enjoyed the show. It was the last show of the evening hence the bar was closed after the set. I was told the food was really good but I'd eaten prior to arriving. I opted for a small snack during the show which was decent. If you enjoy live music there's no better place than Yoshi's I definitely recommend it!
I'm not sure what's better, the food or excellent selection of musicians that play there. Always a great way to spend the evening. What I particularly love is whether you're dressed in a t-shirt and sneakers or decked out to the nines, you fit in perfectly.
Great venues and reasonably prices. Small and intimate setting, you are close to the entertainment. Very enjoyable.
The fact that tickets still can’t be refunded considering there is a pandemic, and so many lost their jobs says a lot about this business and how little it cares about the people who support them. I bought 4 tickets for a concert in March of this year. You would think since the show was postponed all the way until June, they would give the option to refund. But no. I then get another email in the month of June saying it is postponed until Feb of NEXT YEAR. I understand the postponing of dates for safety. What I don’t understand is the fact that there’s still no option to refund when so many are out there struggling due to this pandemic and loss of jobs. The pandemic was out of my control and I bought the tickets before lockdown/quarantine. So for Yoshi's to REFUSE to give me my money back to have the option to buy later is NOT what other businesses are doing, and is careless. This is a completely different situation from me not showing up to a show because of personal reasons which would make sense not to get a refund. That’s not the case here. I am sure there are great performances there but I refuse to support a business again with a team that operates this.

I tried contacting Yoshi's to request a refund "prior" to them posting a new "Corona Virus" policy on their website. I left messages on the Box Office recorder but no one returned my call. I called and left messages for Yoshi's Management to contact me - again, no one gave me the courtesy of returning my calls. I "emailed" Yoshi's management and once again they would not give me the courtesy of a response. I left messages on Yoshi's management "cell phone" - and once again I did not receive a call back.
Though I know that all businesses are struggling during this pandemic, I do not think that Yoshi's is doing the right thing for the community and the welfare of vulnerable senior citizens by not allowing them to "opt-out" and receiving a refund if they feel uncomfortable (given the current circumstances) or those not willing to "put heir lives at risk" by attending concerts especially when the tickets were purchased many months prior to the concert date.
Please note that other venues (such as the Heritage Theater in Campbell) are offering refunds to patrons who do not feel comfortable attending concerts under these circumstances.
Gotta give it 5*, if for nothing else to help bring up their rating!
