How would you rate Oakland School For the Arts?
I am 13 years old and Im trying to go to O.S.A
The parent involvement is alive and active. Lots of great opportunities for young people to showcase their talents while continuing to mentally grow into new challenges being presented. !
I heart this school maybe I'll come to this school in 9th grade
I got into OSA and I am so excited!!!
I WILL LOVE TO BE IN THIS SCHOOL
My older sister goes here and is in the vocal department in Vocal Rush and might i say i love this school period. After she leaves OSA I hope we could still be involved in OSA
i really want to go this school. It is my dream to go to this school. But i can't. some day i will. because zendaya also came here. i am going to 7th grade right now
Excellent performing arts school!!
My grandaughter got excepted to thus school this year and she lives it. I continuously hear great things about this school from friends and others that know about it. Thanks for a great experience for my girl!!
I go to this school. I am a theatre major in 7th grade. Honestly if you are very devoted to your art then this is the best place to learn and practice 2 hours a day doing the thing you love.
Hi. I go to OSA. I'm a vocal student. I love my vocal classes. Most of the time it's my favorite part of the day. I love the teachers and what they can get us students to produce through our music. OSA's academic classes are good and they are getting stronger as the school thrives with new students. I'm giving OSA 2 stars because I have had to deal with being a victim of obvious bullying and harassment and the school administration did not take the actions needed to be taken until nearly a year and a half after they became aware of it. In fact, instead of listening and acknowledging what I was saying about the entire thing they tried to threaten me with suspension multiple times due to things they had no evidence of me doing or the things they did have evidence of it is not in their jurisdiction to be giving the consequence. As much as I love OSA the behavior of some students has made me not want to go to school and it has severely lowered my self esteem, which has lead me to having depression. The school may have a different story to this entire situation but from my stand point and from the perspective of some students who were going through this with me, this is how it went. If you're a parent or if you're thinking of applying to OSA you should remember this. Before I was at OSA I was a completely different person. I was expressive, overly kind and trusting, and I could open up about things with people but I've lost all that now because after dealing with this crap I have learned that there is no rules anymore. All those good morals everyone tells you to have gets thrown away. Consider this before going to OSA. It's not just an art school that escapes the problems of a "normal" school. In some ways it feels worse.
hi I'm auditing for my 8th grade year for my talent of playing the saxophone I hope I get accepted meet you next year hopefully
Love this school but there's no cooking emphasis :( 😤😤😤😤😤😤😤! For shame OSA, for shame!
Wonderful school many memories......
I really want my daughter to go her because she loves acting and singing so much but it's full so can't wait til' next year.
From my experience the osa community can be very unsupportive the kids can be very cruel and then when u try to take the problem to higher authorities nothing is solved and they try to compare things that u did that's similar to what the person is doing but besides the messed up community and bullies, although osa can have negatives and positives.A positive is the events they have like your emphasis shows. my emphasis is vocals and the shows are very fun vocals is my best part of osa and basically the only reason why I'm still at osa when ever vocals has a show everybody comes together like a family and everyone gets a long vocals is very supportive and the teachers are absolutely amazing, but if u are thinking about coming to osa or u are, make sure u pick a good circle of friends or try to keep it small I'm going to be a 8th grader this year so if ur coming to osa or your gonna be in vocals,Welcome!!see you soon 😊
Needs to allow giant anteaters on premises. I have a service giant anteater.
Oof im number two on the wait list but im gonna wait it out. But besides that the vibe from this school is magical the art room is amazing 😃
this school is really bad. all they talk about in class is sex. instead of working on math, it's all just a bunch of sex talk. it's disgusting and the teachers allow it to take place in class.
I am a sophomore in high school and I went there for all of middle school and 9th grade. Worst experience of my life. I was in the theatre/drama department and I never got a single role in any of their shows, but I did get many professional roles outside of school, so it was odd. They only cast the same people in every show they didn’t open up to the other kids in the department. All the kids there were always in little cliques and we’re very exclusive to others. The rumour about OSA is that the students are respectful to all different kinds of people, the truth is that they are very cliquey and rude. The academics is very bad I can’t remember very much of what I learned those years that I was there at that school. I must say I did have great theatre teachers who taught me a lot about acting, but the kids were just awful. I do not recommend going there.
i go here its p cool
My only critique is that the competitive nature of the school culture can be overwhelming for young students - but there are classmates, teachers, and academic or health counselors who are always ready to lend a helping hand.
A beautiful place to watch a concert, this is a venue I look forward to seeing every time I buy a ticket for a show here.
The theater is gorgeous inside and...read this and 959 more
