How would you rate WorldBeat Cultural Center?
Worldbeat Center is at the heart of many movements and serves to cultivate peace for all living beings. I would compare this place to the museums of Balboa Park, yet it is so very much more.
I love so many things about this place: the lively dance parties, the sustainable garden, the children's program, international school and the charismatic leader's passion for speaking to the rich indigenous history uniting the roots of all people. There is Kombucha on tap which is fresh and delicious. There is a cafe and kitchen open on select days. Also, you can rent the space for events! All generations and cultures are at home here. This is a place for the people.
So I consider this a living museum and a place where culture and science collide in the dance of life. From the Earth to the Stars, Worldbeat Center brings wisdom into cultural consideration. As a center of expanding concern the subjects "curated" in this cultural nexus run the gamut from sustainable gardening to astronomy as the history of wisdom is given voice. Peace is a practice and in San Diego, Worldbeat Center keeps the heart beat of unity alive and well situated in this living museum of soul, spirit and sustainable prosperity.
Bad, my son who is autistic was asked what was he doing, he was leaning next to the outside wall painting and I was told to keep him under control, great way to promote peace and unity within diversity
It is an absolute sensual experience of art music sound beauty beats unity and love and gardens wow!
Earth Day at the WorldBeat Cultural Center is always one of the best days of the year.
Great vegan food, best rices around. I recommend the coconut curry tofu. They are also friendly, this place really made my day both times I visited on my way into the park.
I have visited the center many times. Recently with friends during an event. The African food is delicious!
This place is ok but the guy who works there with the long hair is kind of a hippi jerk.
A very unique place, lots of crazy decor. Great place for a music fest.
I like coffee this cafe, very good
And I'm here every Wednesday for Ki energy.
I love here
Like the name, it very cultural and rich place
They've got amazing food and an incredible atmosphere. Lots of educational events about cultural awareness, health, and they've got a beautiful garden with food, flowers, bird and butterfly watching. It is not a place you want to miss when visiting San Diego!!
Enjoyed the Kwanzaa celebration. My first time there and felt right at home.
I love it here! Everyone is always so welcoming
The best place in San Diego to learn about and experience culture from all over the world.
Every time I come back to San Diego, I always drop in to the World Beat Center. Great people, music, food, events and a friendly staff. This is a great place to go if you're looking to experience and connect with different cultures.
Great community place. Trying to unite the world through music!
Wonderful Venue. #MakedaDred and Staff Are Quite Dynamic and AMAZING Hosts!
Love Jesse hes a great owner this place is foe kids and adults.
Went with my Girlfriend here for The Earth Day Festival and it was fun. Got to see a bunch of cool digital collage pieces.
This is always a great place to visit in Balboa Park. The best kept secret is the food though. Vegetarian and everything is amazing.
Fantastic experience. Nicest people. Eartfair was a joke except for this place. Actually community minded. Actually had free prjocts for kids and adults...earthfair didnt. Music was diverse and plentiful. I'll definatly be back.
So many great classes here and a fun environment, delicious food and sweet staff.
The food is really good here, love the vibe :)
World Beat cultural center is a big round covered structure in Balboa Park that presents different events and activities. I started attending their free yoga class held every Wednesday from 5_6 pm , very nice and laid back for all different levels with a great instructor. If you like yoga this class would be ideal . It is free, certified instructor and gentle. World beat center is located around 2100 park blvd by children's playground.
A cultural center in the midst of an urban setting. Home to many children's services, artists, culture classes and the like. The backdrop and home of the San Diego Heirloom seedswap as well as the setting for numerous other seed sovereign projects. This place has a stellar cafe, and is complete with a children's ethnobotany peace garden where produce is grown year round for the cafe and as well as for the community to learn in.
The best. Fun and entertainment. Great vegetarian restaurant.
This is an amazing multi cultural center. great food and service.
An amazing Place full of kind beautiful people and affordable healthy food. There is always some kind of wonderful dancers or drummers or some sort of activity happening. And they have a beautiful organic food garden that is just wonderful to stroll through.
This place is amazing! Definitely going back for the throwback reggae night! Its beautiful in there! Everyone is so inviting and so knowledgeable! Learn about your people!
Most amazing place in the Balboa area. Music concerts, plays, museum quality pieces of art and cultured items.
There is also a vegan cafe with food and beverage items.
These pictures are from a community Production of Monana.
Great place and events. Food service is not organized. They did not have a lot on the menu. The waitress did not know the menu and could not really answer our questions.
The food is always amazing! Though it's vegan, I've seen hard core meat eaters thoroughly enjoy themselves. The tiny museum/art gallery is simply beautiful. Mama Makeda is super kind and full of resources.
I’m not typically one for vegan food but omg it was great. When we arrived there was a class for traditional African drumming and music. I was sitting and watching with my toddler and the instructor told me to join in. I had a lot of fun smacking the drum. We also ordered a young coconut. Ended up ordering another it was so freakin good. I definitely want to go again. Staff was super friendly.
So much to offer from all types of events. In a perfect location being next to the San Diego zoo. Used to be a make up artist and photographers take most of their pics at Balboa w so many great spots to shoot them. Have always loved this extensive park
Its a great place to learn about some african history. Plus the menu is all vegan!! My husband whose not vegan even enjoyed the food. I think ita worth the trip and I recommend.
Wow what a place. I was driving down park when I saw a sign for Kambucha so I went in. The first thing that caught my eye was the art work lots of African pictures drums instruments and paintings. I just would like to say thank you to the guys and gals that help keep this place afloat. My overall experience was very positive.
Beautiful place! Has a little food kiosk(mostly organic products and delicious, by the way), historical yet artisticdisplays of African culture and welcoming staff. It immerses you in our heritage in the most pleasing way. They have dance lessons, summer camps, and a whole bunch off activities for adults and children alike. Exactly what you'd expect from a cultural center.
Wonderful place to learn culture of the African people and the transformation to African American people. More importantly embracing the shared strength blending and commonalities of the American people. If we know our history we can and will know of future!
I was there for the first time December 26 to celebrate The start of Kwanzaa. It was Amazing!!! Unity in celebrating our Wonderful Beautiful African, African American, Black Culture!!!
This place is legendary and very well known in the communities of people who are really about positive change and enlightenment.
