How would you rate Felix's BBQ With Soul?
The food at Felix's is amazing, the service is fantastic and the atmosphere is very pleasant!!! There's always good music, whether it be live jazz, a DJ, or even just Pandora. My favorite dish are the Alabama Chicken Wings; I like 2 fried and 2 fried dipped in barbecue sauce. My man loves the catfish, fried or grilled. The sides are delicious and they give you nice portions; that's important to me because I love to eat!!!
I've always passed this restaurant and go straight to Asia Wok, I was actually forced by my friend to go because his girl wanted to go there. I loved it, its style is authentic, jazzy and southern just like when i used to be in georgia. it is a great place, and i know blacks don't have much respect for feloow blacks especially if you look like a young black man, then again who in america really respects blacks? its your wildest guess. we ordered i try as best as possible to explain to the waiter what i wanted, the crispy chicken breast sandwitch without the bread, just with fries and blue cheese. minutes later he brought eveybody's food but to my displeasure my plate had four pices of grilled chicken breast and fries. i tried to accept it but my friends girl compelled me to have them change it. the waiter was tall dark, and built, obviously he works out alot, he knew he had high testosterone levels so may have a temper as he showed me nothing my bad attitude and disregard. i told him he got agitated and reluctantly took the plate back he brought it back minutes later, fries cold, and 3 big over fried chicken breast laid on top. no sauce, he just dropped it down on the table and walked away without saying anything to me. who eats fried chicken and fries without any ketchup or sauce? on top of that out table was not taken care of to be provided those accompaniments. horrible waiter.
Had an enjoyable lunch on last Sunday, November 15, which was most delicious. I was truly impressed with the Sunday Brunch Buffet selections, especially the all-you-can-eat catfish nuggets and ribs. It was a complete afternoon delight, an excellent way to spend the afternoon with delicious food, live jazz entertainment, and a warm and friendly atmosphere.
I'm new in town from Baltimore, MD. I've enjoyed and cooked southern comforts for most of my life. I was very impressed with the staff, music, and overall ambience. A lot of restaurants could take a few pointers. Where Felix fell short was the quality of the food and price. Soulfood for 4 adults should never cost over $100 especially when take out is in a Styrofoam container. No one in my party enjoyed the food. I may try again in the future but the recipes need some tweaking. It would have received a much lower rating if not for the atmosphere.
Felix's on Euclid is a regular stop for me and my husband! We love the people -- and the food! While I've tried branching out and tasting other things on their menu, nothing but the catfish will do for me!!! My husband loves their fried chicken -- and we always have leftovers! Special note: Last year we ordered our entire Thanksgiving Dinner from Felix's! It was delicious and seemed like enough food to feed an army! We just ordered for this year and are trying the fried turkey! YUMMMM! Do yourself a favor -- stop by check it out! And if you like jazz....oh yeah! They've got live jazz too!
Ambiance, food, service all nailed it. Delicious butterfly shrimp and very friendly and timely service from my server. Recommend for a date, especially on a night with live music. Thumbs up!
The food is good and reasonably priced. The live band was amazing. The only thing I disliked was waiting so long for my check. =\
Great place for drinks with friends and family. BEST pulled pork sandwiches for miles. The cornbread is to die for..........when its hot and fresh. Haven't tried everything but so far so good! Parking close can be a challenge but worth it. Had two wonderful waiters for our large party and they were patient, attentive, and courteous the entire time.
The restaurant in San Diego is a hit or miss spot. I prefer going for dinner. In my experience, the service and food is usually better then. I've ordered lunch to go a couple of times and I wasn't pleased. I usually get the fried catfish. I tried the Alabama fried chicken once and didn't like it. The cornbread muffins are good. The restaurant in Oceanside service is usually better, but they don't have a bar.
The catfish is top notch. I'm really a big fan of their cornbread muffins. I really enjoyed their breakfast menu. I had a big piece of catfish, grits, egg, and cornbread muffins all for a fantastic price. The breakfast was big portions that was well worth the money. This is the best place for catfish in all of San Diego that I have tried to date. Hope to see their quality stay the same over the years (which is great by the way).
I'm a lunchtime regular. Love the fried catfish, greens and candied yams. The sweet potato cheesecake is right on time as well. Make sure to top the meal eaoff with a cold glass of sweet tea.
The waitstaff is pleasant and always professional. My coworkers and I make it a point to eat here at least 2-3 times per week.
Great food and great prices.
Went to Felix for dinner with three friends. Great food... great service.. excellent atmosphere. I am from the south. Being at Felix is like being in a restaurant in New Orleans, Mobile or any place down home where everything is good.
PS. Try the black Eyed Peas.. you will know what I mean.
What a great place to go. Located in a strip mall (like many places in California) Felix's served up some flavorful food with friendly service. I've been...read this and 1331 more
