How would you rate DoubleTree by Hilton San Diego - Del Mar?
Nice hotel so far. Good amenities, location, clean, comfy temperature. 1 major minus though are for me the beds are too firm! Feels like sleeping on the floor.
Pool area is very nice. Hot tub has good jets & is hot, even at 8am. Pool hours: 0600-2200.
Hilton honors get meal vouchers for good breakfast buffet. Kids 5
Nice hotel with big rooms n comfortable beds. And they r pet friendly ! Dun forget the chocolate chip cookie!
This hotel is conveniently located for Del Mar business. Tucked between office buildings, you still have easy access to the highway, a Starbucks and the beach. Rooms and common areas are updated and well maintained. Staff is friendly and the shuttle will take you within 6mi, which comes in handy when drinks are in order after a long day of meetings. Also, the front desk always has warm cookies on hand in case you need to eat your feelings. #Delmar #SanDiego #Hotel #HomeAwayFromHome
Had a great stay and check in experience. The breakfast is good but a little pricey. All in all, I would stay there again.
The employees were very nice and the room was very clean. I wish our room had a mini fridge to place our drinks but they did provide free ice so that was a plus. It was a very comfortable stay and I wish I could have stayed longer. I would definitely come back. Oh, and did I mention they give you delicious cookies when you check-in and check-out? Amazing cookies.
A very classy bar area. I was meeting friends there, so was hoping for a good place to talk without too much ambient noise. This was perfect. The music was subtle and our table was far enough from others that we didn't have discussions from other tables distracting us.
I ordered the chicken nachos and they were unique and yummy. They were made with thick cut potato chips, topped by multiple cheeses, sour cream and guacamole.
The location of this hotel is right near some major freeways, yet the rooms are quiet. The rooms are nicely furnished and spacious. They offer adjoining rooms. The pool area is definitely the highlight. Lots of chairs, a kids pool, and a hot tub. There are also outdoor fireplaces where they will bring food out to you. The fitness center is small but has very nice cardio machines and a few weights. Overall, its a nice hotel in a convenient location. It is very nice in summer when you can sit by the pool.
Nice property. Walls are a bit thin, though. Got woken up by neighbors opening and closing their doors. Parking is very expensive at $12 per night.
We came to Doubletree to visit a friend staying for a business trip. The room was very accommodating with a fold out sofa bed. We only stayed one night I would come back.
Pricey for facilities you get. Also WiFi speed is not great. Frequent call drops when calling using WhatsApp calling feature.
Greatest experience. I needed a hotel last minute (had just drove 5 hours from Vegas) so I was calling around at 1:30 am looking around. When I called DT, the lady was extremely nice & helpful. Checked in with no problem. I was even able to still order breakfast for this morning, even though cut off time was 12. First time in this area and glad I had a great experience.
The hotel is very reasonably priced and close to the interstate and not far from a shopping centre or Del Mar. The breakfasts and evening meals are great quality. Breakfast is a full buffet, and not included in the price of the stay. Bar ilhas sports and wide range of drinks. Pool is a good size for swimming and there is also a jacuzzi. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but you need to ask for a fridge which you may be charged extra for.
Our first room (a supposed king suite) barely fit 2 people and luggage. We were promptly moved to a standard 2 queen room, and it's a much better fit. Food is pricey, but fantastic. Downsides; check in isn't till 4pm, and turndown service doesn't come through until after 2pm. Love the look of the hotel, the friendly staff, and the fresh cookies!
Decent room and property. They do nickle and dime you for everything. It's OK but not special.
Nice hotel. The staff is nice. Restaurant downstairs for food and drinks.
New tv, new mattresses & delicious complimentary cookies but sadly no elevator music. Overall a good place to stay.
Great service and hotel experience. The staff did a great job in providing me with information about the hotel and amenities. I will definitely recommend this hotel and location to my friends and relatives for a get away.
It's unreal that there aren't at least small refrigerators in the rooms. How am I supposed to keep drinks cold especially if I'm staying for an extended period of time. And $12 parking for an open lot in which I'm staying at anyway...makes no sense. Other that the location is good and love thw pool area. But join the 21st century and put some fridges in your rooms!
The location at san diego is beautiful rooms and big and clean and room service wad great!
I was in San Diego for work and was booked at the Hilton DoubleTree. It was comfortable. The one complaint I have is that absolutely everything cost extra. The phone (even local) cost extra, the continental breakfast cost extra, the WiFi was really slow unless you pay extra. There wasn't even a fridge in the rooms. I've stayed at cheaper Best Western hotels with more to offer.
Excellent hotel. The location is near Del Mar with several great dining choices, and plenty of other activities. The rooms are clean and staff is always very friendly. The hotel breakfast is very good as well.
Hotel was at a good location, was easy to find. Rooms were nice and comfy it was just missing a fridge which was available upon request. Customer service was just ok, nothing spectacular not bad either
Easy check in. Beautiful presentation apon arrival. The room was clean and welcoming. The staff is incredible and super willing to help with whatever your needs are. Great place to stay! Very relaxing! The pool area is also very nice. Dining outside is available and comfortable. Good food. Work out room is exactly what I needed. Excellent place to stay!
This was our second time staying here during our California trip. The room rate is very competitive but there are quite a few missing amenities. The fan in the bathroom was broken, no refrigerator in the room, the AC was also not working.
The pool is nice, so is the hot tub. The staff is generally nice and helpful.
Going down hill. The employees are developing a piss poor attitude and the property is showing the results. The court yard is left with the nights glasses and plates only to be cleaned up late the next morning to the breakfast crowd the next day. It is sad when the waitress that has not given me the time of day all night and then takes away the last third of my beer because I say I currently don't need her service. I'm am rethinking my next stay in Del Mar.
This is a very nice hotel. The employees and rooms are excellent. They gave us cookies upon checking in and made sure we had everything we needed. Also, they switched our single bed room no questions asked. I would say the only con would be the parking because they are small and fill up quick.
The pool is great. The main pool is huge. There is a nice wading pool that's a foot deep. The Jacuzzi is comfortable. There are lots of loungers, tables and chairs.
The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly.
Nice hotel however they're currently under renovation so there's a lot of that going on downstairs. Rooms are ok as well.... You're really paying for the area apparently. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to my work colleagues.
Under construction no price adjustment. Lots of noise all day. Door to bathroom is a slider that doesn't move unless you really yank on it. No fridge or microwave. Pool is nasty. It's not turned on and I've swam in lakes that are cleaner. 14$ to park. For 300$ you would expect more. I don't usually right reviews but this place rubbed me the wrong way.
We traveled to San Diego for a soccer tournament and the DoubleTree Del Mar was one of the preferred hotels listed for the event. We were told ahead of time that they were doing some renovations to the Lobby and Restaurant and said there would be some "minor" impacts. What they didn't tell us is all foot traffic was restricted to one entry point to the hotel and 2 elevators (1 doubled as the service elevator as well which meant you either had to wait longer for the guest elevator or ride with the housekeepers and their carts). The "temporary" restaurant was a white tent set up outside the pool area with a handful of 2 or 4 top tables. There was no air conditioning in the common areas and the one in our room wasn't much better. We wanted to order food in one night and were told we would have to eat in our room because they did not allow outside food in any common areas. So....we went out to eat instead. What made the entire experience even worse was the rate at $250 per night!!
The location was ready to find, our room was perfect, and the pool area was more like a resort than a standard hotel. You can even hit the outdoor bar and bring your drink into the hot tub with you. I'd definitely stay there again, and I definitely recommend it to others!
There is a huge construction going on under the name of mild renovation and it is impossible to spend the day at the hotel premises due to the extreme sounds. At night it's still impossible to sleep because the A/C's in the rooms are very old and create a lot of noise.
The hotel also has the rudest personnel I've ever seen. When we told that we don't want to stay in these conditions, the staff didn't care at all. They didn't allow us to upgrade to a higher level room even if we paid, and they said they will be holding on to the price of 4 nights and there won't be any refunds if we don't stay.
The worst part was because of the construction, there are insects everywhere. And the hotel doesn't take any precautions about this. Not enough cleaning, not enough pesticides etc. My mom was bit by a venomous spider in her sleep. Now we're dealing with a severe medical condition.
This was the worst hotel I've ever been in.
No where did it mentions the renovation that they are under going... They should be running a special and explaining that the hotel is under construction. We were not happy with our stay and very frustrated with the amount we spent to stay in a place that was not up to par with how it presented itself online. Not only that but staff did not keep up with the cookies and coffee. Double tree has cookie marketing everywhere and they were out when we showed up. In the morning, the coffee was out. I feel like they should be overly conscious of making sure those little things are taken care of when they are inconveniencing their guests.
Attentive service but was under construction during my visit. Not many common spaces available during my stay. Rooms were clean and well kept. Beds were comfortable.
REMODELING SEPT 2017,
I wouldn't advise staying here during remodeling. It's like walking through a construction site. Found our room door closing very fast, too fast in fact, and struck my wife. The room is setup so the bed faces the couch and the TV is set on the right side...weird viewing angle. Thank God the bed was quite comfortable. Their restaurant and bar are also under construction so you will be walking up to a portable bar... I expected some really great discounts on their drinks to offset but nope. I look forward to the finished version of the hotel but for now I would look elsewhere.
It turned out to be a good enough stay thanks to Jordan, (he gets a five!). I made a Honor's card reservation month's ago, (April), and I ended up making a new reservation for an additional room on the day of arrival for $50 p/n less than the one I made. At first the front desk was not going to lower my rate but Jordan did after some discussion.
Additionally, at no time did the front desk or reservation department tell me the hotel was under construction. There was a makeshift lobby, no bar or restaurant, (some tent set up by the pool for breakfast. My pool view included a view of construction materials, great?
The room itself was nice enough except for small-low toilet and a slider wood door that would slide all the way.
They really should have told me about the hotel condition and then it would have been my choice whether I stay there.
WATCH FOR BUGS!!! We have stayed there one night. Came out covered in bug bites. Hotel management told us to discard luggage and dry clean all inside AT OUR OWN EXPENSES. No room cleaning or inspection was done. They refused to take care of the expenses of our bug infestation from using their room. Hilton Honors policy is to leave all bugs and burglary complaints up to hotel management. They won't help. SD press is being interested and engaged on passing along the info to protect future guests though.
4 stars instead of 5 only because of the construction going on within the building. The staff across the board was over the top fabulous! Most comfortable beds EVER!
The Hilton hotels are great. This one location has been remodeled. No complaints about service or staff. Very welcoming and helpful. I'm giving 4 stars because they need to check on a very nasty smell on the 5th floor. Inside a room 555.
This is an upscale hotel in San Diego. It has spacious rooms and a great restaurant. It offers a large pool, a shallow kids pool, a hot tub, a fitness room, and more. The staff is excellent and very gracious. Fantastic place!
Great hidden gem. Rooms are very nice, staff is very friendly and helpful. Everything is very clean. Location is near businesses but the beach is
Great location, tucked away from the hustle and bustle, yet close to Torrey Pines , Delmar and La Jolla. Great, friendly staff. Kid friendly amenities, they even bring a mini refrigerator for families with kids.
We had to stay here due to evacuation from the fires. The staff was very understanding and helped us out. The room was very nice, breakfast was good and they excepted our dogs.
I just returned from an event/social at the Double Tree in Carmel Valley. First off, they had appetizers and a cash bar at 7 pm - outside on a patio, rather than indoors. The weather was in the 40's at this time and what heat lamps were out, appeared more for decoration than warmth and functionality. If the event was reserved indoors, I am not sure why they would "start" it outdoors in January. Seems odd for a semi-formal event. The next thing which was apparent: the area had just been "naturally" fertilized - every pot, plant and garden area. As one can imagine, it added quite an ambiance to the environment. I was there less than 30 minutes, overwhelmed by the smell; I'm not sure who planned this, but I will not return there.
Nothing fancy but adequate. Nice pool area with outdoor seating. Standard rooms are really small. Comfy beds but feather pillows that squash flat. Friendly staff and good parking.
This property is very nice. the pool area is nice and big fitness center was small as most are but nice. room was good minus not having a fridge. however service was sub par. we used or digital key so we could avoid the front desk and go straight to the room. this is what we do everytime digital key is offered. This time when I went down to get my honors club waters and cookies. I was told waters were only giving at check in. after explaining i used a digital key i was told ok this time we will give you waters. He then went to the back and only gave me one of the two I should have received. I just took it and went back to my room as I didn't feel like arguing with him because they didn't seem like he was in a good mood or happy to be at work.
Newly remodeled from last time I was here (1 year ago). They charge for parking now ($15/night) and everything is new. The dining area has been remodeled too and they offer room service now. Rooms are the same though.
The good: Tara and the other staff at the hotel restaurant were absolutely wonderful. Tara in particular was kind, attentive, and quick with everything we asked for. Fernando in the morning was speedy and sweet.
The black out curtains were next level, and the room was overall quite nice. The housekeeping staff were friendly and efficient .
The bad: The shower was its own special frustration. If you wanted warm water, you had to turn the handle all the way to the hottest it would go, and the result was barely above tepid. Until someone flushed their toilet, or otherwise used the water in their rooms. Then it was scalding. The only options appeared to be to take cold showers the whole trip, or tepid showers that were interspersed with periods where the water was unbearably hot.
Three of the towels that we had the first night had makeup on them. We had these replaced, and one of the replacements had latex paint on it.
The top two drawers of the dresser wouldn't stay closed, which wouldn't have been a problem, except for the minor inconvenience of the fact that it was in the walking path to the loo.
I did not receive a single smile from anyone at the front desk until the morning I left. I work in the service industry - I get it. Service industry positions are terrible for the soul. But a fake smile wouldn't have gone amiss. Most of the occasions that I interacted with the desk staff I felt that I was at best interrupting them, and at worst irritating them.
The hotel overall seemed a bit rough around the edges: there was peeling wallpaper in the halls, and water stains on the ceilings of the hallways. The light for the elevator call button worked only intermittently, and the conveyance itself was quite slow.
The annoying: There aren't refrigerators in the rooms anymore, I guess? Unless you're in a special suite, you have to call down to get one delivered.
Nice and updated. Friendly staff. Didn't care for the pillows and I had trouble getting the room cool enough to sleep.
Stayed one night at the DoubleTree in late April. Pool was warm enough to swim, and they have a 1ft wading pool which is perfect for children. Location is good and easy to find. Wasn't impressed with the drink special at the bar, but the back patio is perfect in the evening. Rooms are what you expect from this kind of hotel.
The room was beautiful. The staff was super nice and helpful. The shuttle driver was the best by far and they give you a delicious cookie at check-in!
Awesome location. Very clean. Most of the staff was pleasant. The hotel bar and restaurant were very good.
Great location. Nice comfortable beds. Rooms don't have refrigerator or microwave, but I think they can arrange for that. Room size is pretty big. Nice closet space. No laundry on site, just dry cleaning. Staff is pretty courteous and friendly. Close to beaches. Not sure why they charge for parking, it should be free but it's 15 bucks a day.
The pillows smelt like arm pit. The bathroom was only partially clean. The staff insisted they did not have ada accommodations for handicap son. And breakfast was good but server axle was in kitchen more than on floor was thirsty entire breakfast. Second star only for generosity of delicious cookies.
Beautiful hotel. The staff are nice and friendly. My husband stayed there for over a month while he worked in Del Mar and it felt just like home.
Everything to like and nothing not to like for a clean, comfortable, efficient travel destination in a great location near the beach and lots of things to do. This is the way hotels should be! Quiet unobtrusive a/c, large comfortable rooms, free coffee (breakfast is not included in the Doubletree tradition a great restaurant is on premises). And beautiful pool area too. Lots of dining options walkable without the need to cross busy streets. Recommend- just the kind of place I like.
The hotel staff was friendly. We love the cookies they offered us for free! The room was nice but I didn't care for the sliding door for the restroom. We went to the pool and there were no towels but we didn't have to wait long to get new towels and get into the cool pool. The hot tub was nice and refreshing.
Hotel is flawless. Outstanding hotel staff. Front desk will never disappoint you, extremely nice and friendly. Beautiful and clean indoor and out. Bed is so comfortable. Best part, the chocolate chip cookies, the best cookies ive ever had, warm and chocolatey, yum.
Catered food was pretty good and revamped terrace area is nice. Still would prefer a bit more shade. Employees were very helpful and kind.
The Hilton was dog friendly. My wife and I stayed the night here. We enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious. We had a king bed. Not much if a view but close by several beaches. We will stay here again they next time we visit. The staff was very friendly and took great care of us!
Remodel of the lobby and restaurant/bar area looks great! Nice spot off the bar outside to work through emails. Staff is always very nice here. Easy parking.
Entire staff was fantastic! Jordan and Heather at the front desk really go above and beyond. Axel and Danielle in the restaurant were great as well. I would highly recommend this property!
The room was very clean and nice. Also the staff was extremely helpful with any issue I had. Would stay again.
Dog friendly hotel! Rooms were comfortable & had a bathtub that was handy for rinsing the dog. The chocolate chip cookies were the best!
We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the staff was amazing! Staff that stood out were Tony and Ron, the shuttle drivers, Maria, the housekeeper, and Jordan and Patrick at the front desk. Those cookies, too!
Bartender is rude and was annoyed that he had to make a drink after calling last call. It was our first drink. It wasn't like we had been sitting there all night and didn't hear him say last call.... we walked in 30 min before close and he was annoyed we had ordered. Server looked young and inexperienced but the drinks proved otherwise. The margaritas here are amazing. Actually e everything at this hotel is amazing. The one star is for the bartenders who really dont care about their jobs....or have very poor customer service training. Either way it made me not want to order another drink here. Hotel is great and very accommodating.. I would stay here again most definitely. The rooms are clean AF! Date was Saturday the 21st time 10pm.
Impeccable service oriented attitudes. I went there for business training but brought my family with me. Very well suited for both. When they say their printing is all courtesy they mean it—they let me print like 200 pages or so without a charge. My kids had a blast. The only smirch is that their technology (computers, workout machines) isn’t at full functioning but it gets the job done.
The hotel room was relatively clean (more on this later) and the property had great ambiance. They also offer many amenities such as a pool, restaurant, and fitness room. Location wise I think you definitely need a car to sight see as it doesn't seem walkable to any attractions.
Room cleanliness was ok. The garbage however was not empty when I checked into the room so it makes me question their attention to detail when they clean. Also the room is connected to another room. Although the bolt on top was locked the actual door lock was not. Potential safety issue.
I asked to have a late check out and it seems my credit card was charged for it. But when I used my entry card to the room it didn't work anymore so I had to go back down to front desk to fix it. Not a big deal but a inconvenience nonetheless.
Wonderful hotel, nice staff and clean room. No matter what day of service the restaurant is slow but the food is great and worth the wait
Doubletree is conveniently located near the highway, ocean, horseback riding, and golf. The rooms are very nice. The restaurant downstairs is indoor and outdoor. I like the atmosphere and the food and drink are delicious. The staff at the bar seemed a little young and inattentive. Great place.
Friendly and welcoming atmosphere and accommodating staff. Clean/well kept rooms. Awesome stay! Working in hospitality you appreciate people who know how to treat guests and the Doubletree Del Mar did just that.
The bed was real comfortable i slept like a baby. The breakfast buffet was great. Customer service was awesome
Excellent stay at this Double Tree. Friendly service. Clean hotel and room. Smelled fresh as soon as I stepped off the elevator. The pool is a great amenity as well as being able to warm up in the hot tub.
Been coming down and staying at this DT every week for the past 6 months.
Rooms are spacious and clean
Staff is friendly and helpful
Free warm cookies
Breakfast buffet is good
Rates are usually pretty fair
Gym is a little small
Happy hour used to be better
freeway audible from some rooms
Walls are also decently thick. Never had issues with hearing noise from neighbors. (The Marriott across the street has pretty thin walls... But a much nicer gym)
Great service! We loved the warm cookies at check in, pool, jacuzzi, the king bed and sofa bed were comfortable and spacious. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. 😀
The positive is that its clean. The negative , no refrigerator in room, no microwave in room, no vending machines on floors and cant park near your room. The isn't even a continental breakfast.
Having to ask for a refrigerator or microwave shouldn't have to be a thing. I've stayed in $80 a night motels with more amenities. Having to travel an 1/8 mile to get a cold drink seems a bit much.
Don't be fooled by the prices. No bell boy at a Hilton hotel.. we have to carry all our luggage from our car to our room. They claim they advertise the parking fee but I couldn't find it maybe it's hidden in fine print, I would of added that to the cost of per night stay. They tack on 15$ per night for parking your car. The one star I gave is for Jon lovely the receptionist who helped us with our stay. This is a below Mediocre hotel for Hilton and this is a fair review. There is plenty of better options around this area
Nice interior. Good location. Breakfast was good. All staffs were kind and impressive. Neat place to come again.
I reserved a block of rooms for our wedding. They messed up the billing, didn't deliver all the guest welcome bags, and were always in a rush - too busy to listen or document communications. Definitely not reliable and not worth the cost.
This is a great hotel. Love that I can walk around the hotel. Pool area was awesome too.
Nice place, warm and friendly reception. The room is very clean, quiet and spacious and at reasonable room rate !
This place smells amazing, very new and modern hotel, comfortable beds, good shower pressure. WiFi is ok, haven't had any issues streaming. Front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming. $15 for parking even with Diamond
Get there and was charged 50$ a day to hold and 15$ a day to park at a place we are paying to stay at. Room is little. Don't stay here!. UPDATE: They reimbursed us for the parking and gave us free drinks and appetizers. They were very nice.
Stopped by to see some friends. The hotel is beautiful. The bar opens to both the restaurant inside and the pool patio outside. Walked by a decent sized fitness center with cardio machines and dumbbells. The pool is large. Kiddie pool and hot tub available as well. Tons of seating outside; perfect for the southern California wewther. Rooms are really nice. I don't think I earn enough money to stay at a place like this.
The room was cozy, the staff was great and the breakfast was excellent. I will definitely come back.
Very nice hotel with. I loved the smell of the lobby 😁
This is a great place to stay. The staff are so nice. Check in is simple and fast. Parking is easy. In and out during g my stay is always convenient. Room service was prompt and very nice. This has become my favorite place to stay on my visit once a month!!!
Very nice hotel and very friendly and supportive staff! Facilities were excellent -- very close to restaurants if you want to walk! The restaurant and bar in the hotel are wonderful -- nice atmosphere and the breakfast is delicious!
Great place to stay! Awesome staff.
Very nice hotel, very luxurious and fully loaded with all the amenities that you may need. Restaurant and bar, pools, and hot tubs. Rooms are very nice, and comfortable but the only thing missing is a refrigerator or cooler. The staff is friendly and helpful and the manager is excellent and very professional, he even remembers your name, where that is very rare at other hotels. These people work hard to assure you have a pleasant experience
Had a nice suite, but it wasn’t well maintained or clean. Treadmills weren’t working, and I guess I was expecting more from this place. I should’ve just stayed at the Hampton Inn next door. Breakfast at the hotel was pretty good though.
Second time staying and we love it. Rooms can be upgraded a little, nevertheless it's a great place and so far nice staff.
Superficially good hotel let down by loud noise from air-conditioner every hour or so throughout the night even though it was turned off. Kept waking me up. Management seemed to know about the problem but were not really interested. Lighting very poor with no central control. Good housekeeping. No fridge.
Thanks for the response but no mention about resolving the problems which I believe cannot be fixed. I liked the hotel in the past but properties date and standards change.
What a nice place to stay! The lobby was nice and clean. The breakfast area was large. There were several kitchen staff members constantly monitoring the breakfast items and I really admire that. all of the staves were also very helpful and professional. I am very happy, so I decided to make a review for you. I should highly recommend your Hotel to everyone!
Excellent so far. Everyone at front desk is friendly and helpful. Room is clean and nice and had plenty of towels. I wish the market was stocked up more often and with more diversity. Some kombuchas and healthy snacks would be a good edition especially since the restaurant is closed due to the pandemic. Obviously not their fault.
We went to get out of the house because we were going stir crazy. We enjoyed a beautiful pool and my son, who's almost 3, wanted to spend all day in the wadding pool. It was a perfect mini getaway. All of the staff were super nice and very helpful.
Personal items missing. Russell the supervisor was cleaning up the towels by the pool and he took the towel that my sister had hid her phone in. We had the towels with our clothes and shoes yet he still took everything because he was wanted to clean up the guy at the front desk started. We went to report the phone lost at the front desk including my sisters gold chain, and the young guy at the front desk, started having a melt down saying well he has too much to do, that he was alone and they are super short staffed and he had to clean up a spill that a guest made, and he had other things to do first before he can go check the towels about my missing phone. I said ok I understand he’s short staffed but if he can call his supervisor Russell and he said well he had other things to do first. He threw a tantrum and kept complaining about every he had to do while being the ONLY one at the front desk. We are still missing the phone and the gold chain.
The only reason this hotel is not getting a one star is because of the staff being great, it’s location, and the pool is nice. Other than that it was not good. Biggest complaint, the bed was AWEFUL! We even bought a mattress pad to try and make it better and no luck. It was hard and springs were worn out in spots from people sleeping on them for years making them uneven. Our backs hurt the entire time. The walls are so thin we heard our neighbor checking his account balance and we could smell the pot being smoked in a room 5 rooms away from us. The air conditioner would not turn down all the way. Our bathroom door which was a pocket door, continually got stuck in the wall and our closet door would not open at all. I would not recommend this hotel until they make some serious upgrades. This may be a good place for the 20s crowd who are willing to sacrifice room quality for location close to beach and pool appeal. But 30s and up who want room quality, this hotel lacks as of now... Again, staff was GREAT with what they have. No complaints there.
We enjoyed the pool it is very nice, as well as the outdoor sitting areas and the beds were nice n soft and pillows were nice. He shower and bathroom area was also nicely laid out and the showers were not low flow and had a massage feature which was very nice to have. Unfortunately, instead of allowing people to make appointments for the gym, it was shutdown but they did provide workouts on the tv instead which was a nice replacement except there's really not enough room in the rooms to do a workout. There were a couple of problems during our 3 night stay that really shouldn't have happened but, the staff worked very hard to remedy them. It didn't seem that any other guests had the same issues so I won't mention them. The hotel concierge took care of making good too with no hesitation which I appreciated immensely.
Check in is 4p. I had to basically stand there and make them check over and over to get a room by 515p. (I initially arrived at 315p and happily waited until about 430p but had to be someplace).
One of the elevators was broken, which just left one. The number of people packing into them was insane especially due to covid.
Had to drag luggage up the stairs.
There was no tissue in the room.
No mini fridge which usually isn’t a big deal but because nothing is open for breakfast or lunch on premise, not having a fridge makes it difficult.
The smell of pot permeated the hallway. I usually write or say great things about properties but this is just too many things to overlook.
They charge you for the parking and you’ll only learn about that when you arrive. Nice way to screw their guests out of a few extra dollars ;)
Beautiful property. Reasonable price for location. Jonny the asst mgr was awesome. Will definitely return next time we come to the area. Love the cleaning measures they take!
Check-in was quick only because the girl was in a hurry to finish her energy drink and get back on her phone. My door to the room was sealed stating the room was Lysol cleaned but I'm pretty sure they just changed the sheets and maybe vacuumed. The mirror in the bathroom looks like a giant brushed their teeth and splatted everywhere...at least I'm hoping it's toothpaste. Anyway, I am laying here getting ready for bed wondering if breakfast is happening because no one told me. Nor, did the room have a coffee maker. Location is great!
Great service, clean rooms, beautiful outdoor area. Amazing pool. & great restaurant too.
Jordan and Kristen are without doubt the best hotel employees I’ve ever met and worked with and they should get a pay raise daily! They went above and beyond when some things went wrong with our original reservation (not because of an issue with the hotel but with prior tenants who trashed the room apparently). They delivered water to us and gave us a space to film a documentary. They are everything good about the hospitality industry. Hotel was nice, fairly quiet and clean, spacious JR suite, etc. I would stay here again without hesitation. Thanks for a great stay Jordan and Kristen!
Disappointed: *Surprise $15 extra for parking *No refrigerator *No coffee anywhere *No microwave *No help with luggage *Only 2 towels *No floor towel next to tub (and slippery floor) I’ve stayed in the area before, so my expectations are calibrated. Don’t want to add more to not affect personnel that I’m sure are working very hard and are indeed very nice. Redeeming facts: Gym is very nice, great walking trail nearby, you can get your morning coffee at the gas station nearby, and San Diego is awesome! Management, COVID is not an excuse for less but an opportunity to shine! Go back to hospitality school.
A note to the responder: it is not about first impression and the cookie you give. After 2 out of 5 days stay here, it is a lasting impression that counts. I recommend people don't stay here.
As a Diamond Member I was told that I would get parking comped since Breakfast is no longer included. I found out that on my bill I was charged for parking (I stayed for 22 days this trip. Last month I was there for 11, the month before that another 16).
When I called I was told that was not a policy since June. I have the pervious two bills that do not have parking charges on them. He explained that the cost of breakfast to the hotel was $5 (I am thinking when did I ever pay cost? Usually the charge is more like $12 to $14) and that parking was $15/day. He also explained that he would credit me the money for the parking but I would forfeit my points (of which I paid a higher fee for).
Before this experience I would have recommended this place. Now, not so much. There are just too many places to stay in the San Diego area to put up with this.
Stayed here for a night and it was a good stay. Staff was nice and of course I love getting the cookies..why else stay at a double tree? :P
