One of the best cocktail bars in the city and an outstanding restaurant as well. Rotating list of drinks has something for everyone. If not, just describe what you're looking for and the bartender will concoct something special for you. Location is cozy and hip with a small turntable belting out an eclectic mix of tunes. Staff have always been exceptional, making this a local treasure.

A smartly renovated historic gas station restaurant serves delicious Mediterranean cuisine. The bread is baked outdoors in a wood - heated oven in the patio area. I enjoyed a unique open - faced egg salad sandwich appetizer (4 for $9) and a tagine of root vegetables over curried rice ($12). I enjoyed walking into the attached restaurant next door, the Elaia.

Olio is the lower-priced, bohemian sister of Elaia. I believe it's a converted gas station. The decorations are cool but it's crowded and loud. Their hummus lamb dish is pretty incredible.

One hears often that a restaurant is "different" and the difference is their french fries have a thinner cut.
This place is different in a major and good way. Order the Turkish pizza (More of a meat pie) and order the baked cauliflower. It's almost a religious experience.

I went here late one night after I'd gotten off work. I had a desire for a brandy-old-fashioned (I'm from Wisconsin originally.) I asked the bartender, Chris, if he'd be willing to make one as it wasn't on the cocktail menu. He said he'd be delighted to. It was as good as my grandmother would have made it. The conversation with Chris and Stella was equally as delightful. A+

Amazing Mediterranean food. The Pita bread alone will ruin your perception of any similar restaurant. I also recommend the cauliflower, lamb hummus & pickled veggies. There is a constantly rotating menu of creative mixed drinks. The lighting is a bit low for my taste and it can get a bit loud, but the food will absolutely justify your visit.

A jewel of Saint Louis dining. Limited but amazing heavily Israeli menu. Everything we had was delicious with the octopus topping all of the other plates we ordered.
If there were any distractions it would be became a little overpriced (but the food made it worth it) and the service, while very friendly, was running a little behind at peak time.
Been there before, still definitely be back. While not quaint (to busy/close quarters for that) is say this would be a great date destination, but they can accommodate small groups as well. If you want something besides great Italian or other typical STL offering stop on into Olio!

Great food, great atmosphere. That said, oh boy, we came on quite the day for terrible service. Again, the food is worth the trip for sure. We must have waited 25 minutes for the check while the waitress and busboy talked nonchalantly right next to us. Unsure why, everyone working here was pretty absent minded. I have never had worse service at a restaurant. Ever. It doesn't even matter what the good was like, after sitting for 45 minutes waiting for our food, with no one checking on us, we finally asked, what the delay was. They never ever put our order for food in.
I won't even comment on the other inconveniences throughout the evening that made it unpleasant.

Really disappointed with their spritz hour. Most of what was in the tiny glass was ice, and the spritz was mediocre at best. Service was not great as well. They were not very busy, and it took the server 10 minutes or more to get back to us to take our order. The people I was with mentioned they have a good experience here about 50% of the time. This was not one of those times. The saving grace here was their hummus. Interesting and tasty, but pricy. Not worth coming back I think.

We went to this restaurant a few times when this place first opened up, and recently decided to go back again. I guess this span of time gives us some perspective on the evolution of this dining establishment.
First things first, this place has always been focused on quality food and drinks. It was one of the first places I remember to convert a garage into a dining space. It's always had a hip feel to it. If memory serves me, I remember it being more crowded with less tables, and it seems they have more tables and even an outside area now.
The cocktails are thoughtfully made, but I will say that the two I had this time around were a bit more on the sweet side. They were tasty, but I prefer a bit more spirit forward cocktail when I'm pairing it with food.
The food has always been complex and tasty. I think there are even more vegetarian choices on the menu than when they first opened up. I believe the portion sizes have also gotten a bit bigger, which is a welcome improvement.
We went to this place for a personal celebration and elegant night out. Price-wise, it's not bad for the quality of food and a relaxing, elegant setting. I'd recommend giving it a try if you're in the mood for something adventurous.

Start with the good: the food was delicious, especially the breads and the location is quirky, but well done. The bad: it is very small and gets loud as soon as it is close to full. Also, without reservations, the size means the potential for significant wait times. Additionally, and very much on the nitpicking corner, the chairs and tables could be much more comfortable. If you've read this far, and wondered why I gave 4 stars when the bad is 5 times longer than the good, reread the good, and emphasize the delicious. The anything with bread products was heavenly.

It was alright. Overpriced for the quality and quantity. However, I am guessing that if you actually travel the Mediterranean... Such foods will always be inexpensive and plentiful there. Interesting menu. Small plate sizes, not ideal for sharing. Friendly staff. The food was good, not great but it's something different. They are making a gamble that the eccentric menu will compensate for the over priced selections. For example, a small wedge of cabbage with dressing is about 12 dollars. I recreated the dish at home ( 6x the volume) for 3.00. The rest of the selections were like that. The experience (and food) just wasn't worth the expense. Plus the place is extremely cramped.

I took my daughter for lunch at OLIO whilst visiting her in St. Louis. She chose the restaurant as she had heard good things about the food. It was the first warm day of the year so the patio had just opened. The restaurant was very busy but the staff could not have been more attentive and conscientious. We sat on the patio, which was really pleasant and relaxing in the sunshine.
We ordered a few small plates to share, including the chicken liver on brioche (see photo). My favorite plate was the citrus salad. It was so simple but delicious.

Oh heck yes! From the moment I walked in the door I loved the vibrancy of this small well planned out restaurant. The greeters were friendly and accommodating listening to our needs even though they were full to the gills.
Formerly a local filling station, once you walk through the door you lose sight of that. When there are groups the seating is tight but easily ignored as everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.
There were three of us and decided to share plates. Wise decision that allowed us to taste many menu items, and the food was delicious. And did I mention the handcrafted cocktails they offered. We choose we’ll that night!

The service was bad, our waitress couldn’t care less. I usually don’t pay too much attention to service as long as we are not forgotten but we really seemed to annoy her and that was not pleasant.
