Good cocktails. Delicious small plates. Great atmosphere.
For a quick glass of wine and delicious flatbreads, this is the place to go. The interior and exterior offer a cool antique experience
Service was lacking but food was exceptional. Cocktails could be a tad bit stronger for the price. Cozy place.
I wish this place was here back when I lived in StL. Amazing Hummus plates! It has a really hip atmosphere, and I love having a late lunch meeting here when the place is calm and quiet. Wait staff is really laid back and friendly.
Great atmosphere, food is very fresh and elegantly presented. Great ingredients. Dim, mood lighting and very interesting setting in a defunct garage. Absolutely recommended
One of the best cocktail bars in the city and an outstanding restaurant as well. Rotating list of drinks has something for everyone. If not, just describe what you're looking for and the bartender will concoct something special for you. Location is cozy and hip with a small turntable belting out an eclectic mix of tunes. Staff have always been exceptional, making this a local treasure.
I love Olio. It is one of my favorite places to go grab a drink and relax. I know the drinks will always be fantastic, and the staff is always helpful and ready to make a recommendation. I am a big fan of the famous egg salad and their hummus plates.
The food is unique and super flavorful. It's got an electric vibeas well.
Order lots of stuff to share and try.
A smartly renovated historic gas station restaurant serves delicious Mediterranean cuisine. The bread is baked outdoors in a wood - heated oven in the patio area. I enjoyed a unique open - faced egg salad sandwich appetizer (4 for $9) and a tagine of root vegetables over curried rice ($12). I enjoyed walking into the attached restaurant next door, the Elaia.
Olio is the lower-priced, bohemian sister of Elaia. I believe it's a converted gas station. The decorations are cool but it's crowded and loud. Their hummus lamb dish is pretty incredible.
Great food, at great prices. The lemonade is a must try, sweet with a little secret weapon. Great selection for vegetarians. Everything is delicious.
Sat outside, which was a nice treat despite the heat.
Great ambiance, friendly staff, and phenominal menu. Didn't have anything that was not spectacular! Must go to if you haven't been! Can't wait until I get to return!
Amazing Mediterranean cuisine with different selections prepares to anyone's particular taste. Great place for cocktails as well.
Its a wonderful place to hangout with friends especially with kids. I like the restaurant setting cos it privides you both the personal and group area. Food is good too!
Great place for bougie tapas. Very fresh, super cute, very accommodating to our large group but also kind of romantic. Whiskey choices were questionable but good wine and food.
beautiful cozy modern atmosphere. gorgeous picture worthy food presentations. perfect generous portions.
Fantastic offerings and reasonably priced. It's an old gas station that has been turned into a unique and memorable restaurant.
Olio has a great atmosphere, very laid back and hip vibe. Cocktails were great with a nice wine selection. Plates are delicious and portions are just right. A little overpriced to deserve 5 stars, however I'd pay to go back.
Very limited menu. Also, need to learn how to make craft cocktails. I don't understand the appeal.
One hears often that a restaurant is "different" and the difference is their french fries have a thinner cut.
This place is different in a major and good way. Order the Turkish pizza (More of a meat pie) and order the baked cauliflower. It's almost a religious experience.
We had an excellent lunch at Olio- the waitress was extremely knowledgeable and kind and the food was INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend
The quality of service is all over the board sometimes excellent sometimes not so great
Fantastic atmosphere and incredible food. Everything tasted very fresh and flavorful. Only downfall was that I had a large party of 14 people and the service was lacking. They should have provided two waiters but instead they had one and we had multiple mishaps.
Olio had a great atmosphere. Friendly staff, and quick service. We ordered a bunch of small plates to share. All of the dishes did not disappoint. Everything was delicious. Will definitely come back.
Most delicious, authentic Mediterranean cuisine, using fresh ingredients and warm bread made from their own stove ovens. The staff was very friendly, and the setting was very warm and inviting. It will definitely become a "must-go-to" on all my future trips to St. Louis!
Awesome atmosphere, small plates, wine selection, and cocktails. We always go for wine and small plates and it’s perfect. One of my favorite places in the area
Love this place! Our fave restaurant in St Louis so far - hummus is to die for and the cocktails are fabulous. They know what they’re doing all around!
I went here late one night after I'd gotten off work. I had a desire for a brandy-old-fashioned (I'm from Wisconsin originally.) I asked the bartender, Chris, if he'd be willing to make one as it wasn't on the cocktail menu. He said he'd be delighted to. It was as good as my grandmother would have made it. The conversation with Chris and Stella was equally as delightful. A+
Amazing Mediterranean food. The Pita bread alone will ruin your perception of any similar restaurant. I also recommend the cauliflower, lamb hummus & pickled veggies. There is a constantly rotating menu of creative mixed drinks. The lighting is a bit low for my taste and it can get a bit loud, but the food will absolutely justify your visit.
Cute little restaurant inside on old mechanic garage. The chicken is phenomenal. Good place for a nice casual meal
A jewel of Saint Louis dining. Limited but amazing heavily Israeli menu. Everything we had was delicious with the octopus topping all of the other plates we ordered.
If there were any distractions it would be became a little overpriced (but the food made it worth it) and the service, while very friendly, was running a little behind at peak time.
Been there before, still definitely be back. While not quaint (to busy/close quarters for that) is say this would be a great date destination, but they can accommodate small groups as well. If you want something besides great Italian or other typical STL offering stop on into Olio!
Food was delicious. Very creative with the flavors. My wife had the trout sandwich and it was tremendous. My Turkish pizza was excellent also. Great cocktail options too.
Great food, great atmosphere. That said, oh boy, we came on quite the day for terrible service. Again, the food is worth the trip for sure. We must have waited 25 minutes for the check while the waitress and busboy talked nonchalantly right next to us. Unsure why, everyone working here was pretty absent minded. I want to like this place more, but my god. I was half inclined to print my own receipt out---nobody was paying attention.
I've never had anything bad @ Olio. The food, drinks, and service are all top-notch. Small place, be prepared to park on the street, enjoy the patio in good weather!
Good atmosphere, limited menu options, great food though! Pricing is reasonable, would expect more for what you pay for.
Nice hip interior that used to be a car garage. We just came in for dessert, which was pretty good. The service was average. It seemed that there were too many people working for the amount of customers in there. I would try again, perhaps for dinner.
I have never had worse service at a restaurant. Ever. It doesn't even matter what the good was like, after sitting for 45 minutes waiting for our food, with no one checking on us, we finally asked, what the delay was. They never ever put our order for food in.
I won't even comment on the other inconveniences throughout the evening that made it unpleasant.
I will never, ever eat here again.
Not your conventional restaurant. Olio has gastronomy style Mediterranean, mixing textures and flavors for more refined tastes. I enjoyed their food, but my company was outside of their comfort zone with the style of cuisine. Atmosphere was very laid back.
Stunningly good food seemingly no matter what you order in a modern setting. Try the Jerusalem Bagel, Tuscan Kale Salad or really... just about anything
One of my favorite places to eat in St Louis for a quick small plate and drink. The chef does an amazing job with both vegetarian and meat-based items. The bartender is always developing new craft cocktails. There spritzer is a great idea especially if you want to try something new.
Set your phone down right now. Don't bother with any other restaurants. Try this place right now. It's a small cozy place with extraordinary flavors. The Israeli bruschetta was crunchy and the tomatoes juicy. The turkey thighs was fall off the bone and juicy. Mixed with the rice and sauces it is absolutely fantastic. Service was phenomenal but even if it was lousy I would still eat here again and again.
Are you in St. Louis? Don't worry how you got there. Go to Olio now. Delicious food, great bread. Chicken meatballs and egg salad toast especially. Quaint place. Fully stocked bar.
Adorable patio. Great cocktails, wine and food. LOVED the watermelon feta salad and lamb sandwich. Elia, the sister restaurant upstairs, is also incredible - try the tasting menu for special occasions.
Really disappointed with their spritz hour. Most of what was in the tiny glass was ice, and the spritz was mediocre at best. Service was not great as well. They were not very busy, and it took the server 10 minutes or more to get back to us to take our order. The people I was with mentioned they have a good experience here about 50% of the time. This was not one of those times. The saving grace here was their hummus. Interesting and tasty, but pricy. Not worth coming back I think.
Great little place. Cozy. Fun and different menu. Seeing how busy the place usually is is evidence enough of how great it is!
Fresh and tasty dishes. Friendly and helpful service. I would definitely going back there again!!
We went to this restaurant a few times when this place first opened up, and recently decided to go back again. I guess this span of time gives us some perspective on the evolution of this dining establishment.
First things first, this place has always been focused on quality food and drinks. It was one of the first places I remember to convert a garage into a dining space. It's always had a hip feel to it. If memory serves me, I remember it being more crowded with less tables, and it seems they have more tables and even an outside area now.
The cocktails are thoughtfully made, but I will say that the two I had this time around were a bit more on the sweet side. They were tasty, but I prefer a bit more spirit forward cocktail when I'm pairing it with food.
The food has always been complex and tasty. I think there are even more vegetarian choices on the menu than when they first opened up. I believe the portion sizes have also gotten a bit bigger, which is a welcome improvement.
We went to this place for a personal celebration and elegant night out. Price-wise, it's not bad for the quality of food and a relaxing, elegant setting. I'd recommend giving it a try if you're in the mood for something adventurous.
Start with the good: the food was delicious, especially the breads and the location is quirky, but well done. The bad: it is very small and gets loud as soon as it is close to full. Also, without reservations, the size means the potential for significant wait times. Additionally, and very much on the nitpicking corner, the chairs and tables could be much more comfortable. If you've read this far, and wondered why I gave 4 stars when the bad is 5 times longer than the good, reread the good, and emphasize the delicious. The anything with bread products was heavenly.
This place is absolutely fantastic. I did not like hummus until I tried their deluxe hummus with braised lamb and pine nuts. Great Israeli inspired plates for sharing, the bread is absolutely amazing. Their cocktails are very good too!
Waitress was quick, informative and friendly. Food was also quick delicious and left you full without that 'heavy' feeling. Cocktails went down like a dream
Nice bar area. Great food and quiet relaxing music. No bar TV so it was great place to unwind and read book and have scrumptious dinner...
It was alright. Overpriced for the quality and quantity. However, I am guessing that if you actually travel the Mediterranean... Such foods will always be inexpensive and plentiful there. Actually for the price that you pay for a dinner for five here, you could have flown to Greece for a winter week vacation. I am not even exaggerating.
Went for lunch. Great atmosphere and wonder food. Everything fills you up pretty quickly. Get the egg salad and Turkish pizza
Great Mediterranean/middle eastern menu. Food beer selection plus wines and cocktails. Small plates are very shareable.
#olio was exceptional. Great service. The bread is something I'll never forget. The soup of the day - red lentil - was multi-layered, delicate, and as perfect as anything I've had in NYC, LA, or London. The decor and old building are almost hypnotic. Excellent experience, highly recommended.
I have been to olio several times and never left disappointed. I always get lamb hummus, good portion size and delicious. Interior is very tastefully decorated and staff is very attentive. I hope they get some local beers on tap. please get civil life American brown on tap, no one will complain 😎
Food is pretty good and they really make honor to what meditarrean food is. We tried the Sienna large plate (Chicken) that has some spicy and good flavor. The humus king of king is really good!.
This place was just okay, I have had must better hummus from other places. The pita was hot and fresh but it was not pita. It was more like a personal loan of bread, to thick to be pita. It didn't feel like a Mediterranean places at all. Service was good. Kind of expensive
Interesting menu. Small plate sizes, not ideal for sharing. Friendly staff. The food was good, not great but it's something different. They are making a gamble that the eccentric menu will compensate for the over priced selections. For example, a small wedge of cabbage with dressing is about 12 dollars. I recreated the dish at home ( 6x the volume) for 3.00. The rest of the selections were like that. The experience (and food) just wasn't worth the expense. Plus the place is extremely cramped.
Very fun lunch date in a tastefully converted restaurant from a historic automotive shop/garage.
Unique small plates of food to share and enjoy.
Excellent service and delicious menu items in a memorable dining experience.
They have indoor seating, a large outdoor patio area, and a small indoor private room for parties or reservations.
My wife and I liked this place very much.
My only complaint is the parking lot is only big enough for about 6 cars. Otherwise, you’ll have to find street parking in the area.
I took my daughter for lunch at OLIO whilst visiting her in St. Louis. She chose the restaurant as she had heard good things about the food. It was the first warm day of the year so the patio had just opened. The restaurant was very busy but the staff could not have been more attentive and conscientious. We sat on the patio, which was really pleasant and relaxing in the sunshine.
We ordered a few small plates to share, including the chicken liver on brioche (see photo). My favorite plate was the citrus salad. It was so simple but delicious.
Oh heck yes! From the moment I walked in the door I loved the vibrancy of this small well planned out restaurant. The greeters were friendly and accommodating listening to our needs even though they were full to the gills.
Formerly a local filling station, once you walk through the door you lose sight of that. When there are groups the seating is tight but easily ignored as everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.
There were three of us and decided to share plates. Wise decision that allowed us to taste many menu items, and the food was delicious. And did I mention the handcrafted cocktails they offered. We choose we’ll that night!
I adore this place. Great patio, the wood fire oven is right there. Fresh fresh fresh ingredients. Great drink selection if you like trying new things. The bruschetta and egg salad were both fantastic. We did family style and did the bacon wrapped dates, braised lamb hummus, and the gyro sandwich as well. I recommend them all!
Great small plates for sharing (or keeping to yourself...). We ordered plates as we went for a tasty, laid back evening.
My personal favorite was the roasted sweet potato, followed closely by the arais (lamb sandwich).
A wonderful dining experience. I know the food is exceptionally good because I took my extremely picky 14 year old daughter, who never had any of the dishes we ordered, and loved each of them! The service was excellent as well. Our server gave us a brief history of the restaurant, explained each of the dishes we ordered, and was friendly and inviting to newcomers.
Great israeli tapas place. Their homemade hummus and pita bread is fantastic, make sure you order extra pita to share! This a great place to eat family-style and try lots of innovative dishes, and their wine and drink menu is also fantastic. Don't forget to check out their happy hour and try a wine spritz!
Nice, eclectic place with lots of small plates and things to share. A few large plate entree items to pick from as well. The Israeli/Mediterranean cuisine was delicious! We will definitely be back here in the future!
Service was slow. Other than that a great restaurant! Good food, well done, and service is good. Small little place may be difficult to find a seat.
We visited after a morning spent at the botanical garden. The food was delicious and we had lunch in their nice little patio.
The service was bad, our waitress couldn’t care less. I usually don’t pay too much attention to service as long as we are not forgotten but we really seemed to annoy her and that was not pleasant. We had a baby (quiet, no crying or shouting) and a guest, nothing obnoxious plus it was a late lunch with just a few other tables.
Food is amazing. Service is friendly. And the atmosphere is earthy and inviting. Came here on a work trip with coworkers and clients and everyone bonded over shared dishes and great drinks.
The staff was attentive, the setting refreshing. We ordered the hummus with lamb, - the pita bread, baked on site is delicious. You'll need more than one for the hummus. The salad and small plates were small. The large plate, the lamb tagine, was beautifully seasoned, nicely prepared and presented but could have been larger.
Really great food and service. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The menu is filled with very interesting dishes. The hummus is amazing. Good espresso. A nice place to stop for lunch after visiting the botanical gardens. The decor is unique. One of St Louis more interesting options for unique food. It's also a great date place for dinner. Excellent cocktails and interesting wine menu. The connected restaurant Elaia is also a good option for a special occasion. This neighborhood is really becoming a distinctive spot with now several great restaurants and shops clustered together.
Incredible. The chef has great taste, his plates are built perfectly basic. Simple, and perfect. The flavors are exactly what they need to be. The breads are great and baked in house. It's a must try and you really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu.
Shredded Lamb Hummus with fresh Pita,
And the Bruschetta are the perfect starters.
Great outdoor seating section. Amazing place. Great atmosphere. Everything was well organised. Small plate was delicious.
I absolutely love this place. I had to google a lot of ingredients on the menu because I am not familiar with the cuisine so it was a great new experience. I have been there a couple of times and was happy each time. My go to items are the deluxe hummus, and lamb stuffed pita!
I am confused. First I sat down to a table that had names carved into it like it came from a troubled high school - my chair was sold metal. Second I noticed there were notes printed off of Word and hung on the wall with Blue Tape around the dining room, tacky. The glasses they serve water in are the kind you sometimes see in bars that are thicker at the bottom so they hold less volume. The place itself is an old garage that will forever hold grime in its crevasses. The food was ok. Trout toast was trout on soft sourdough. Lamb pita had by my estimation 1/8 pounds of meat, no veggies - I have had better, more satisfying gyros at various fast casual places around town. The waitress was average, no dress code for staff. With 1 drink per person the total was like $40 each. For this price there are many local restaurants that will give you a clean, comfortable place to sit, in a warm environment with quality art, that won’t be cheap, and will give you excellent food with professional service, but the food looks nice. It would make sense if it were half price, but it’s not. So I’m confused.
I really loved their take on Mediterranean food. Their hummus is definitely top tier. Great place to meet with friends and enjoy a good cocktail.
The small plates here are wonderful! Such a cute place, it's not huge but a great experience. Service was good, bathrooms are clean. It's cold now but the patio is adorable and I can't wait to go back to hang out on that patio!
