How would you rate Pharoah's Donuts?
Just stopped here this morning on National Donut Day after many other shops had run out of inventory. When we arrived, the staff at Pharoah's were cranking out delicious donuts as fast as they could! There was a long line of customers and although each person ahead of us seemed to clean out the case, more donuts would magically appear. The glazed donuts that I picked up were almost too hot to eat when we got them, they were perhaps the freshest donuts I have ever had! I shared my dozen with my coworkers and everyone loved them. The staff were super friendly despite the constant rush. Their cashier in particular was super helpful and welcoming. It is indeed a challenge to find the place if you're not in the know but it's well worth the effort (and kind of fun) to locate this simple donut shop that does it right!
Whoa!! I made it to my car and tried the donut holes that just came out fresh. I went right back and bought more. Best ever! ! A must if you are downtown st louis. Staff was super friendly too.
Best donuts ever and always fresh!
Went to the 7th and Pine locale. BEST doughnuts! Fresh. Sweet. Delicate, melt in your mouth goodness. And kids saw one of the bakers in action.
My boyfriend isn't a donut fan. When he went on about how this is the best donut he has ever tasted, I knew we had found "the one"
Local donut shop fresh takes me back to being a kid. Great location, hours, clean business, and employees very polite. It's hard to find a good donut shop. This is #1
Yes I agree, it was hard to find for me also but man, I'll say this, I'm happy I found it. Heaven in the form of a doughnut. For some reason the hole in the wall spots be having the best food & this hole in the way spot sticks with that. Best doughnuts in St Louis, hands down...
Donuts to die for! They were warm and delicious. Good atmosphere and great service.
They lure me in when I'm walking through downtown. That heavenly smell ruins my workout every time.
I LOVE this donut shop. Probably the best donuts I've ever eaten. Plus I went in the second time after a month and the owner remembered me, which I thought was amazing customer service, especially when it's always so bustling with people! I love having visitors in town because I get to bring them here!! 😊
Stumbled on this place close to the hotel. The staff were the friendliest people we met in St Louis and the donuts were legitimately the best I've ever had. Great value too.
Best donut shop in STL for original glazed donuts hands down. Nothing beats Strange Donuts for me. This place is a very close second and perfect for those (like me in most cases) who prefers the classics.
I made a special stop on my trip through STL for these donuts! I had them a few months ago when I was in town for a wedding and had to stop back in on my road trip. These are the best donuts in the US! You need to order two bc one is just not enough!!
Whether you live in St. Louis or you are just here for.a brief visit, Pharo's Donuts is a must! It is a small mom and pop shop nestled back into the lower portion of a car deck, that takes a little exploration to find when the sign is out. The donuts were some of the best I have ever eaten! We are definitely returning tomorrow!
My goodness is a quality donut. The quality of the texture of the donuts it's something you don't find much anymore it's got a chewy bread equality and a lovely place. I had mine fresh out of the oven and it was delightful Schaap is clean and well-run would love to come back.
One day i was walking to pay my parking tickets in i smelled dounts i looked around it smelled soooooo good so me & my daughter went in i told them it smell really good in here now i go everytime im off #my morning breakfast
Most amazing donuts ever! Need to try them by far! So so very kind, and easy! They are really good people. Definitely worth a try in saint Louis!!!
Just so delicious!! Every donut was soo sugary and good. A little bit pricey though!
Great spot for delicious fresh made donuts. I've been here twice and the food is inexpensive and the service is great. Perfect for a quick delicious breakfast or snack. Only a few blocks from the convention center and locals and tourists are welcomed alike. Most importantly, you can't go wrong with any donuts.
The glazed donuts are probably the best I have ever had, from various places in KC, STL and SGF. Soft, warm, and a glaze that just melts in your mouth. Plus, coffee options aside from the usual dispenser, which make for an excellent addition to a great pair of donuts.
If Pharaoh's Donuts were an athlete in the olympics, they'd take home every gold medal. The workers were very kind, humble, and the service was quick. The atmosphere was a little strange, but definitely gave the feeling of a local business. The donuts, oh the wonderful donuts..... They were moist, fresh, delicious. They were to die for. I would literally die for one of these donuts. So run, don't walk, and grab as many of these donuts as you can because good things don't last forever.
Softest donut I've ever tried! They make the donuts in front of you! It's such an amazing place, humble but delicious. We tried it when my team went there for FIRST Championship! Awesome city!
Absolutely no frills. Simply great donuts! Warm, tasty, fresh donuts. Definitely worth a try when visiting StL.
All I can say is the donuts are to die for! Best I have had in years since my local donut place has closed its doors
Best doughnut I have ever tasted! Warm but crunchy on the outside. Just loved them. Don't be fooled by their location, they are awesome!
Consistency seems to be the holy grail of donut making. These guys found it. Worth the trip, wherever you're at.
When we parked the car in the garage above we could already smell the incredible doughnuts down below. Delicious old school doughnut shop.
Donuts are pretty good. I've heard their Apple Fritters are the BEST. But I've been there at least 4 or 5 times and they've never had them available. Their Long Johns have tons of icing on them unlike most places that skimp on the icing. Cool local mom and pop donut shop. You can even see in to see the dude making donuts as you walk.
Just picked up another dozen. Without a doubt, the most perfect donut I have ever had. You will quickly become a donut snob after eating their donuts.
I eat a lot of donuts. Way more than I should actually. These are possibly the best donuts I've ever had in my life. There are other donuts that are fancier, or have gourmet toppings, but these are unbelievably good. I wasn't expecting much from looking at the place, but I was happy to be wrong. Probably a good thing I'm 6 hours away from this place or I'd have diabetes by the end of the week. So far my favorite is the cheesecake donut. You should try one. Or 9.
Smelled the donuts a block away, employees really nice, friendly atmosphere, clean building, donuts extremely good. Well deserved 5 stars :)
Brought my daughter here and not only are the donuts excellent, the workers are absolutely awesome! My daughter got the cheesecake donut and she says it's the best donut she's ever had!
the old fashion donuts are good, but man, the glazed donut! one of the best I've ever had!
I've eaten a lot of donuts in my life. A lot. You wouldn't know it by looking at me but it's true. These are among the absolute very best I've ever had. Prefectly airy and sweet raised. Amazingly rich and decadent cake donuts. Truly perfect.
Visiting st Louis and this was 2 blocks from the hotel. I would have walked a couple of miles. These donuts are some of the best I've ever had. The guy at the counter was super nice and pulled out some fresh donuts for us.
Best Donuts EVER! I love the glazed donuts and normally I do not care for glazed but with these I can't say No. If I see them I must have them. Really wonderful!
Best donuts that I have ever had. The structure is a little run down and dirty and can be missed if you are not paying attention. Workers were pleasant and fun to talk with.
Wonderful! I'm so happy that I chose to try something new on this trip to the city. The donuts are amazing. This is a must go if you like donuts. It's also close to the Cardinal's stadium.
This place has, without a doubt, the finest donuts in st louis. The yeast donuts here are of amazing quality with a unique flavor, marvelous texture, and satisfying size. They have excellent cake donuts as well, offering all of the traditional flavors with some interesting and original inventions as well. Nothing here comes near to excessive or gimmicky, there are true and solid donuts. You will never be disappointed and the staff is extremely friendly.
Best donut place ever. My mom doesn't even like donuts and makes us go here every time she's in town! So good they don't need any quirky gimmicky decor to sell a donut... they just need the delicious smell. Staff is always very nice!
Friendly staff, really good prices. I got an iced latte and while it did take it just a little while for them to make it, we conversed and joked around so I didn't mind at all. The girl working was really respectful to her manager and you could tell she enjoyed her job.
Late morning visit, short walk from Hyatt... Still had good selection. Fresh and great tasting. Cherry friiter was amazing. Old fashioned cake donut was also great. Staff was friendly and patient.
They were VOTED Best Donuts 2016 and I see why they received that reward. Their Donuts are so good and staff is amazing. The guy that makes the donuts is always nice and speaks. I'm a simple girl so I only get the glaze. #BlackOwnedBusiness
This a very friendly, family-run shop that is exceptional. The quality of dough on their yeast donuts is perfection! They're thick with a fluffy texture that has enough firmness to give an amazing chew. I would encourage any donut lover to come here in the morning to get an always-fresh batch; you will not be disappointed!
Great homemade donuts a few blocks from the arch. Cream/filling is on top instead of inside. The cherry cheesecake donut was delicious! The coffee not so great. They do a baker's dozen (13 instead of 12). There are two or three tables inside. Staff was friendly and patient with customers choosing their their selections.
I’ve been looking for good stuff like this since I moved out of NJ a little over a year ago. Absolutely the best glazed donuts I’ve ever had. Never had ones with such an airy consistency before. Cheesecake topped donut was great too. Brought home glazed, cherry topped and strawberry filled and they were a big hit. I’m usually in St. Louis once or twice a month and will need to make it a habit to stop here.
This was my first visit, and I will definitely be back. The donuts were fresh and warm, with great texture. Some of the best donuts in St. Louis. Service was friendly and excellent.
Omg.... Best donuts ever.... Melts in your mouth.... Every chance I get I go get me some.... Catch them when they're fresh from the oven even better.... Either way best in St. Louis....
there's nothing like the taste of ol skool donuts that are very sweet, fluffy, and worth every penny spent. preferred over chain locations. always well visit, every trip home
I normally don't care too much for eating donuts but this place is an exception. These donuts are just so soft for their own good. I could obviously tell the donut twist I had from here was fresh and soft to the touch. The donut does not necessarily have to be warm and cooling down to know it is fresh. Softness explained it all, just the way I like it. And it was not at all greasey. I found this donut to be jumbo for such a small price of $2.00. You also get a choice of 2% white or chocolate milk at an extra cost if you want to add milk with any donut of your choice. For a breakfast stop on your way to work if you work downtown or any time of the day, I recommend Pharaoh's donuts.
Better than any of the modern donut spots. Fluffy and delicious donuts with classic flavors. The owner and every employee is courteous, hard working, and all around great humans.
They serve a local craft coffee, Coma, and even have espresso drinks!
Love this place because the donuts are definitely the best in St. Louis. They are moist and fresh every time I order. I share these with my coworkers at least once a year and they're always a hit.
Awesome hole-in-the-wall place. Staff was friendly and attentive. We watched them make long johns before ordering a few donuts at the counter. The glazed donut and apple fritter was out-of-this-world! Literally melts in your mouth. My wife said it dissolved. A donut with flavored icing was a bit dried out, but the banana and chocolate flavor was great. We can only wish to find a place like this closer to home.
Best donuts in town; they absolutely melt in your mouth. It's a little difficult to notice from the exterior (unless the sandwich board is out front), but you can smell it from a block away, and it smells AMAZING. The specialty donuts are great - I'm a huge fan of the cinnamon rolls - but the simple glazed donuts here are just as excellent.
The best donuts I've ever had! found this place on a road trip with a one night stop in St Louis. My family still talks about these amazing donuts. Every other donut I eat now seems extremely disappointing. Got another road trip coming up and we are adjusting the time we leave so we can get to Pharaohs before it closes and grabbing 3 dozen glazed raised to go.
So soft, so moist, and so delicious! I didn't think I really even liked donuts until I tried the ones here. I've tried "fancy" donut shops in ritzier parts of town, but none compare to Pharaoh's! I take out of town guests here.
Cinnamon rolls are heaven.
Cheesecake donut is great.
old fashion and strawberry are cake based. Never taste this kind of cake based ones. Really good.
Has a restroom in the back.
Location is also very close to the arch.
A wonderful place to get a rest when you walk around the arch.
Definitely a wonderful hole in the wall donut shop! My husband had the apple fritter and I had the custard filled donut — amazing. Great flavor and quality. The staff was welcoming and very nice, not to mention at 9 am on a Saturday the service was very quick.
Hole in the wall place. When you walk in your in a sea of donut powder /powdered sugar. You can see they are very fresh! Fluffy and big donuts! The people there are very polite and appreciate your business. It just needs a little updated. Overall good!
I found this place while scouting for a donut place while photographing the Wainwright Building, Arch, etc. I was surprised it didn't have chocolate-covered donuts while in early in the morning but not to worry. Great toffee donut. Highly recommended. Not the best ambiance but the donuts make up for it.
My husband and I went here for the first time and loved it. The donuts are SO fresh and surprisingly light. I didn't have that sluggish feeling afterward. And its a great location because you can go for a walk to the city garden especially if you have a family. Plus its black owned!
I came here for a quick stop while my husband toured the Gateway Arch. Although the selection of donuts were smaller than expected, the quality and price of them cannot be beat! The customer service was beyond excellent. Such nice and welcoming people! I will definitely be coming here again next time I’m in town!
I love a great donut. Most donuts do not fall into that category, most donuts do not come close the their full potential. Pharaoh's Donuts are not most donuts, they are a revelation. I am a yeast donut guy and I have my favorites that I will always love. That being said, these are the best yeast donuts in town. They are soft chewy pillowy perfection with no oily saturation. How can they reach such heights of perfection where so many others barely succeed if at all? Before Pharaoh's there was only one place that I would buy cake donuts. Again, Pharaoh's has reached heights of perfection that others will only be able to dream of. On top of the most important reasons to visit Pharaoh's, they also have great service and it is always great to support minority owned businesses. What more could you possibly want?
I was told to try and did not disappoint. Cherry cheesecake donut was devine. Other donuts were good, light and flaky donuts. Also had a maple-covered nutty donut, but come to find out was like a cinnamon roll inside. That specific donut is not for everybody, but I enjoyed it. Located near Busch stadium, walking distance.
Delicious Donuts. I got there 10 Mins before they opened, about 12 people in line(for a great reason). Friendly Staff. Wonderful Owners. Clean Establishment. Great Prices. Icing to Donut Ratio is Perfect. Overall a must stop and buy a dozen :)
Really nice people running the store. My son wanted a Boston Creme Donut and he made one especially for him. The donut was superb as I received my customary "Dad tax" and sampled his donut.
The store is definitely not fancy , but the 5 stars go to the donuts themselves. These are the BEST donuts I have ever had, and I have been to a bunch of different places. Prices are extremely cheap. Try the dozen donuts holes for less the $2, it's definitely a steal.
My first visit. Great donuts!! Highly recommended. Every donut I tried was great. Friendly staff. While I was in line I spoke to some people who drove about an hour and a half to get some of these donuts. I will certainly be back. Definitely worth a visit if you're in downtown St. Louis.
This place is awesome! You can see them making the donuts right in front of you. Staff is helpful and always upbeat. Light getting the speciality mix of donuts. Their donuts go great with a nice hot cup of coffee. Stop in and give them a try, I promise you will be happy you did!
The donuts are ALWAYS fresh, fluffy, and delicious. The service is top notch and very welcoming. We are well taken care of every time we come here. The cheesecake donut and apple fritters are a MUST TRY!
I love Pharaohs donuts. I will drive from Illinois all the way down town just for these donuts. They are always fresh and they have the best glazed recipe I have ever tasted. I recommend if you are down town St. Louis you have to try Pharaohs donuts.
For an extremely busy morning when we visited, the staff was friendly and efficient. We were very impressed with selection. The donuts were fantastic.
The donuts here were fantastic! They were some of the best I have had! The service was quick and the staff was very friendly. All this on a busy Sunday morning for them. The overall interior of the establishment: lobby/foyer, entrance, public spaces could definitely use a face lift. We initially thought we were walking into the wrong place. It was a little decrepit and scary looking. Other then that, great presentation on the donuts! We will be back when in the area again. Thanks!
This place is really good. A co-worker and I stop by this place at least once a week. I have tried most of their different types and have not been disappointed. I highly recommend their cinnamon twists. Sometimes they have a small version, but normally they're huge! The crumb cake donut is great too!
So So So Good!! Today was my 1st time ever going into this place. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by a guy who was making donuts. The cashier was polite and attentive. I purchased a cinnamon roll. It. Was. Amazing! Fluffy, fresh and light. I'm so happy this establishment is within walking distance of my job. I will be a returning customer! No more vending machine!
By first impressions you would think "LORD! What have I just walked into" as the light haze of smoke fills the air from frying donuts. I'd heard nothing but amazing reviews about these sweet treats and I promise you won't be disapppointed. Absolutely delicious!!! T.
My coworkers brought in donuts from Pharaohs Donuts today. Literally every single person in our office that took a bite said WOW!!!!! Your products has the correct name. It feels like these donuts were made by a God. My first time having your donuts but definitely not the last. Thank you for creating such an amazing product. It is EXCELLENT!!!!!
Unassuming entrance is easy to miss. But once you're inside you can see the dough being prepared & fresh sweets coming out of the kitchen. Doughnuts are fluffy & melt in your mouth. Good service from the staff.
This donut place is a must to visit. Cheap, quick and delicious. The outside of the store is grungy but the inside is decent.
WOW!!!! "King tut got nutin of these guys". The smiles say it all!!! The donuts are only a small part of their success! A great taste of what makes America great...please take note and "trump" this place a delicious and welcoming way 😋😋😋😋😋😍😍😍😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗😏😍😍😍😍. May everyone learn from their hard work and fortitude....its "godly"!
They make the best donuts I've ever had!! I have no problem supporting their business as much as possible!! The donuts are consistently awesome and you can tell they take their craft seriously! Keep up the great work!!! Yall will definitely see me often!
This place is great, and definitely good for STL City standards. He's open really early on Sundays when not much else is, and you can smell this place from the block west. I am alway happy when he has blueberry, but I've had to get there early since this place is so popular.
I’m not sure what kool-aid people are drinking but these donuts were AWFUL. They were mostly yeast donuts. They were over-risen. The icing was still sticky and stuck to the bag. The inside of the apple fritter was uncooked. The place isn’t “unassuming” it’s legitimately filthy. The ceiling tiles are stained and falling. The walls are filthy. You literally cannot see out the windows they are so dirty. What is happening with these reviews? The donuts had clearly been cooked in dirty oil. It was awful.
Donuts are quickly becoming the next trendy pastry, and shops are popping up all over with fancy Instagram-worty donuts. While Pharaoh's has a few of those, their specialty are the classics: cake donuts, raised donuts, and long johns. And they do the standards better than anyone else. The cake donuts perfectly balance density and fluffiness. The raised donuts are so light you'd think you were eating a croissant. The frosting and glazes perfectly sweet, but not too sweet. The shop is a hole in the wall that you'd never find unless you were looking for it, but once you're inside you know that they take their donuts seriously. Right when you walk in you smell the yeast and can see them make the donuts, and the staff are all incredibly friendly. It truly doesn't get better than Pharaoh's. If you're in St. Louis, this is THE destination for donuts.
This shop is absolutely fantastic! Not lying at all these donuts are better than Crispy Cream when the hot light is on. Fresh baked and made from scratch. They deserve a larger location and everyone NEEDS to try their donuts.
If you're serious about your donuts, this is the place for you. No glitz and barely recognizable from the street. But both their cake and yeast donuts are delicious. You can also see their donut-making operation while waiting in line.
This place was worth the stop for breakfast. Fresh donut holes melt in your mouth. You could tell all the locals know and support this place. It was popping! My wife likes cake donuts and I like yeast, so it was nice they had both. Only thing was showcase wasn’t kept stocked up very well but think it was just too busy. They had tons of stuff on racks behind them, but hard to tell what all was available.
One of the best spots of its kind in the area. The service here is better than most. Prices were decent.
Good donuts. Some of them are too much for me. As in too much sugar. If that is your thing you have found your place. Some of the more plain donuts were my favorite. Lite and airy.
Definitely a hole in the wall place. In fact it looks like you are walking into a closed business its such a hole in the wall.
Complete hole in the wall, but somehow that doesn't even matter. The donuts are deliciously caloric. This place is a downtown staple. I'm looking forward to their move to a slightly nicer space a couple blocks over. Did I mention that this place is dingy?
Weirdly, the most amazing simple glazed yeast ring I have ever had. The location is unassuming but it is NOT CLOSED. Best place for donuts downtown, no competition.
Walk too quickly, and you'll miss the little door that leads to the best donuts downtown. Try the red velvet glazed, they are amazing! If you're looking for snazzy, this ain't that, but isn't it about the donuts? Yes, it is...
Best donuts in Saint Louis. Although there are those who might be somewhat apprehensive about Pharaoh's due to placement of the shop in a parking garage basement, these incredible donuts should be able to entice even the most harsh of critics.
You can always count on a good selection of classics (Long Johns, Boston Cream, etc) being available for purchase along with some other donut offerings that appear to rotate in and out. There are not wild flavors or creations like you might find at other donut shops around the region, however, the donuts from Pharaoh's don't need to rely on novelty to entice customers to come back time and time again. Prices are very reasonable and the great folks running at Pharaoh's are very welcoming.
This place is the epitome of hole-in-the wall. Maybe only one sign with muted colors advertising its existence nestled among closed buildings. The interior: disarray, disrepair, fluorescent lights and a perpetual haze of heavy, greasy smoke. It looks like someone decided to set up a donut shop in the closet of an abandoned hotel.
I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS PLACE. I was not a fan of sweets or donuts until I had one of their flaky, buttery, perfect basic glazed donuts. They know how to execute a classic. There is literally nothing better in the city than one of their fresh-made, still-hot cinnamon apple fritters. The kind of tasty that makes your whole face tingle.
I legitimately plan on waking up at 7am and eating at least a dozen of these bad boys on my birthday. Also, the staff is just as sweet as the donuts :’)
Solid donut shop. Anything glazed was good. Apple fritter was my favorite. Their maple frosting was awful...couldn't even finish the donut. Great customer service and would definitely go back.
Awesome donuts! We got there kind of late for a Sunday (around 11am) and they only had two options left: glazed cake and jelly filled. Traditionally I would...read this and 173 more
