How would you rate Chef Eddies Restaurant?
This is by far the nest soul food experience you can ever have from the down south friendly wait staff to the food created by expert chef's! It was very clean!!! Not that I was surprised seeing as their food (specifically their staple classic) was delicious and even the plating was delicate and nice. Food good to look at and eat ! I can't stop coming here and i'm not a big fan of southern cooking but WOW!!!
Great soul food. Fried chicken is a must have for any Orlando resident or vistor! It seemed like we tried everything on the menu, it was all good. A few standouts, the grits and the service. The staff was sweeter than the tea. Our waiter Mike (he may also be the manager) was awesome.
I ordered shrimp and apple cinnamon waffle. The shrimp was awesome! My husband ordered the chicken and waffles. He says the chicken was ok. The waffle was soft which my husband didn't like. We are used to crispy waffles. He let the manager know and she brought him another but it was about the same. We will go again and try some of the other dishes. There are a lot of choices. I'm not sure why there was a lady on a keyboard singing. The music on the radio was better. The staff was great, smiled, very attentive.
I had a 3 piece fried chicken all white meat dinner! with any choice of 2 sides, (MacNCheese & Sweet Yams Aka candy yams) It was amazing. The chicken was well battered and fried with a nice seasoning coat which is addictive! I recommend this place to anyone who love southern comfort food! The server's were very friendly and they don't miss a beat.
I started going to this establishment when they were still in their old location and I feel as though the service and quality of food was so much better over there than in their new location. Ive been to their old location twice and would brag about their food so much I just knew they werent going to disappoint once they relocated. Went to the new location the first time everything was satisfying as expected. The second time I went drew the straw for me entirely. It took 30 mins for someone(the hostess) to even come take our drink orders, then it took another 30 mins for someone to take our food orders. While waiting we were asked to move to a smaller table because they needed to accomdate a bigger group (no problem, gotta do what you gotta do) and then it took a whole hour for the food to come out. At this point I'm ready to chow down because I've been dreaming about these oxtails, yellow rice, sweet potato casserole, parmersan cheese grits, and mac n' cheese for forever. The food was cold, rice was crunchy, oxtails were nothing but fat, and the grits tasted so gritty as if it was taken from the same pot of grits from when they opened. Long story short asked the hostess to speak w/ a manager and if only offered a 10% discount and didnt even offer to make it right for me and my guest. One day I may give this place one last try.
Tonight was my first visit and I didn't know what to expect: a friend took me. We shared chicken and waffles and the smothered pork chop meals. The flavored waffle was yummy, although the chicken wasn't my favorite--but I'm not really a fan of fried chicken either. The smothered pork chop meal was plentiful and tasty. I loved those complementary jalapeno muffins with the pineapple butter! And I can't forget the best part--the service. The slogan on the door says something about Chef Eddie's being an experience, and it was. Our server was amazing and made my first visit great. I will definitely return.
You should always start with the positive so...good location, love the restaurant's history and the staff are very friendly and personable. Definitely a family atmosphere! This was the worst soul food restaurant I've been to. The food was extremely bland. I ordered smothered pork chops. Which were simply fried and topped sparingly with a bland brown gravy and yellow rice that had no taste at all. My boyfriend could hardly cut through his due to toughness. The Mac and cheese was creamy but again, absolutely no seasoning. The jalapeño cornbread was very dry, so much so that we left all of it on the table. And finally the Parmesan grits, a pack of quick grits with chunks of Parmesan with no butter or salt. There was not enough salt or hot sauce on our table to fix it. This was my first experience here and neither I nor my family would return. Very disappointing.
Very tasty and authentic! I have a lot of country family (Shouts out to Grandma) and their food taste just like home. Well cooked well seasoned and super friendly atmosphere! The Mac and cheese is the real thanksgiving version none of that soupy stuff.
Absolutely wonderful!!! Came all the way from Georgia and enjoyed every minute of Chef Eddie's food. The staff was pleasant and the restaurant was very clean. Nice atmosphere. Great pork chops.
Very bad service. The waitress is rude and does not look clean. The food took a long time to make. The philly cheese stake sandwich was very good, but it was a little greasy and the cheese was mixed in with the steak. The mashed potatoes gravy tasted like bbq sauce and the Parmesan grits tasted like birthday cake. The seasoned fries were prefect. The place has lots of potential. They need to train the waitress, speed up the service, shorten the menu and remodel the interior.
I had been thinking about visiting Chef Eddie's for a while but after seeing the inconsistencies in the reviews just never came. A friend was in town and we were close by so went ahead and had lunch there.
The menu is rather extensive and I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted. Finally narrowed it down to either ribs & chicken or turkey wings. Our server suggested the ribs & chicken. My chicken was extremely dry and the ribs were tough and not tender as all. The green beans were a little on the overcooked side and the mac & cheese was not to my liking either. I did like the flavor of their bbq sauce.
I really wanted to love this place, because I believe in supporting local businesses. The service was extremely slow. We both ordered lemonade for our drinks. It had wayyyy too much sugar. My friend only took a sip of his and we asked to switch to water. They never warned us how extremely sweet it was and they didn't even take it off his bill. I had drank about half of mine, so it was no big deal.
The place is kind of outdated and dusty. Could use some sprucing up, cleaning up and updated decor. Seems they do the fried chicken very well and that is what most people come for, the fried chicken and waffles. The One star is for my friend's chicken & waffles which they said they enjoyed. After waiting all of this time to check it out, don't think I will visit again. Hopefully they get things together but seems the locals love it. I really hope they read their reviews and turn things around. It's in a prime location near the Amway Center.
My husband and I felt so welcomed. The food was amazing. The owners make you feel you're family. Thank you for your gracious hospitality
Went there for my lunch break and it took almost 45 minutes to get our food. Two piece chicken with garlic bread and Mac and cheese, and an Italian sausage hot sandwich. We where one of three tables that we're there when we walked in, I don't feel like it should have taken anywhere near that long for what we ordered. We finally had to change our dine in order to carry out because I was already late getting back from my lunch break. We ate our meals in my truck driving back to my office. The marinara sauce on my Italian sausage was flavorless and the fries tasted like they were frozen and warmed up in a microwave. My girlfriends chicken was flavorless and had a hint of a fish taste, the Mac and cheese had hope, but the pasta was overcooked. I would gladly went back despite the long wait for some good soul food, unfortunately my soul is still hungry.
This was my first visit to Chef Eddie's but definitely not my last. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the service was on point and the food was delicious! Can't wait to go back!
I had heard great things about this place, but It was terrible. It took about 20-30 mins after the order was placed to get our food, then, once we got it, it was not even hot. My buddy specifically asked for no sauce on his sandwich, the sandwich came with sauce. Worst of all, me and one of my other buddies ordered the chicken and waffles. Later that night, we both ended up vomiting. The whole next day, I was vomiting and had diarrhea. I could not keep anything down, not even water. I would definitely not return here and would not recommend it.
My family is visiting Orlando. We always try to find the best local restaurants and we found Chef Eddies through googling. The pictures won us over. Not only did the food look delicious in pictures it looked and tasted great. Highlights were the mac n cheese, ox tails, fried chicken, and mashed potatoes. I would've given a 5 but they ran out of the dish I wanted to order. Great service from Mike too.
Oh my God! I had the oxtails with yellow rice, collard greens, Mac & cheese, and a cornbread muffin. Even my healthy appetite couldn't finish it all. Dining companion #1 had the smothered pork chops and cheese grits, also with the greens and cornbread. Dining companion#2 had the chicken and waffle. On the server's recommendation, she chose the sweet potato waffle. Everything was spot-on. We'll definitely come back when in the area.
Great location food was delicious and hot. Ms Bessie the owner greeted me and spoke with me while my food was being prepared. Great live music will definitely be back
I enjoyed chef Eddie's oxtails. It took a while to get our plates, but it was worth the wait. The portions were generous as well.
Very delicious food! Great fried chicken, pork chops, oxtails, greens, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, cornbread and lots of other home cooked type meals. Love their cheese grits too. You will have plenty left over to take home. Tastes even better the second day. The service was on point and we loved the live music. Can’t go wrong with Chef Eddies!!
Fantastic BBQ, Greens, and live music. The artist on the piano is great, he tries to incorporate you into his song. All around nice environment,
We order the the hot wings and the peper wings they were delicious flavored extremely well. The tunes from the live Jazz Band gave us life. We will definitely return.
I LOVED the food at Chef Eddie's, it was some of the best soul food I have ever had. Everything was seasoned perfectly I am sensitive to salty foods and this kind of food has a tendency to be salty, but chef Eddie's was just the right amount. My girlfriend had the chicken and waffles and I had the smothered pork chops with greens and Mac and cheese. Both were a 10/10. We also ordered mozzarella sticks, and this is a small detail, but they were fried perfectly. A lot of times chefs will fry them until the cheese leaks out but once again chef Eddie's did them exactly right. We also had great service and everyone was friendly and accommodating. There was jazz music playing and there was just a great family vibe like everyone was having a good time. I felt like I was eating at a friend's house and not at a restaurant. I will definitely be going back keep up the good work!
Great atmosphere. I visited 3 years ago when they were in their last location while in Orlando and the food is still scrumptious. The crust on the chicken is tender and the vegetables have that goood home cooked flavor. The band is a good addition to the atmosphere! I'll be back next time I'm in the area!
Decided to go here based on the reviews. I was totally disappointed with the customer service. My husband and I walked in and was told where to be seated. It took 15 minutes for someone to come over to ask if we’ve been helped. The waitress brought us a menu and asked if we were ready to order. I didn’t even have a chance to look at the menu. So we ordered. We waited an hour not knowing where our server went. Come to find out she forgot to put our order in and then lied about it saying “we ran out of food.” Although people who came after us got their food. They need better customer service skills. After a hour and 40 minutes later we got up and left without even eating.
This place is amazing! Every time I go, they outdo themselves! I normally get the chicken and waffles with a side of collard greens, and it’s incredible every time. I recommend Chef Eddies to anyone who enjoys a good meal!
Very nice and talkative host. Ribs taste out of this world. Salad style was kind of funny first just a couple chunks of lettuce, so if that is not your kind of salad make sure to ask them to chop it, they will do it gladly. Overall a great meal!
I was looking for a Soul Food restaurant and find Chef Eddie's and It instantly became one of my favorite restaurants to visit while in Orlando. The prices are very reasonable and the portions were perfect. The location is right near the heart of downtown Orlando. I highly recommend Chef Eddie's.
Must Eat in Orlando. Red Velvet Chicken & Waffle is Sublime.
This is my 2nd visit to Chef Eddies and we have not been disappointed yet. In fact my wife referred her uncle here from out of town & he raved about the oxtails. The fried chicken is cooked to perfection. The skin is crisp & not burnt and the meat is juicy & is seasoned to perfection. Wife had the smothered pork chops with collard greens & Mac n cheese and she loved it. Kids had ribs & kids chicken fingers & they were good. I updated my original review because they moved to a new location that looks great & now I don't have any knocks on this spot. We continue to go back to here to eat & we love it. If you're in Orlando this place is a must eat, you won't be disappointed.
Very disappointed! I was told by a few of my family members that this was a great soul food place. I read some of the reviews which backed it that up. So decided to go there for Mother's Day. Place is not clean, we were told to sit anywhere and had to wait for a table to be cleaned off. We were told that items that we wanted to order, they ran out of even though we arrived at 1pm in the afternoon. The hushpuppies I ordered were brought to my table FROZEN. My son's Mac n cheese was ICE COLD and I couldn't even cut my pork chops because they were so tough. The waiter ended up not charging me for my meal which was nice. The only good thing I can say is the fried chicken was decent. I have had great soul food and this place was horrible. I don't see what the hype is. Perhaps the management changed and Chef Eddie no long owns the place.
Love everything about this restaurant/ adult spot. The atmosphere is very grown folk, not for teenagers or anyone who doesn't know what a 2 step is. The food is amazing, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I hope this place stays in business for a very long time.
My family and I ate here today and we really enjoyed it. I had the Garlic Shrimp, kids had fried chicken plate, chicken and waffles, and pulled pork. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. Staff was very courteous and helpful given that we were really indecisive about the menu (they have many menu options). The food is awesome!
Excellent food. Reasonable prices. Fast friendly service. Top notch! Extra effort and chefly touches on the food made me feel loved.
Don't worry about the wait. Everything is cooked to order and is fantastic. Chicken and waffles are the best I have ever had.
Always grab a bite while at city games right down the street. Great local soul food with all the soul.
I had such high hopes for the food, but this was the worst lunch experience my family and i have ever had. It started from the start, my family and i were seated at a plastic fold-up table with a plastic table cloth, we order a round of sodas unfortunately all of the soda came out flat and they did not have anything else except for lemonade and apple juice. We ordered, they were out of pasta which was disappointing. The wait for our food was 35 minutes which was way too long, all this time waiting still having hope that the food will be amazing and that will make up for the mishaps. The the table of two next to us got their food faster then we did and the server tried to explain to me that they were seated first which was not the case. what was also not the case, was my hope that the food would make up for all of these issues. Most of the food was cold and unseasoned. Even the server understood that we were not happy and was willing to comp the drinks that we really did not drink.
I had high hopes that i was going to get some great chicken, but it came out cold and for what i could eat it was way to oily. I order the chicken and waffles with a banana nut waffle, when it came out it was cold, there were no bananas.. My wife got the BBQ chicken and ribs with fries and onion rings. The onion rings were not crunchy and very soggy with oil. The fires were cold and were over cooked. For my 4 year old son i got a burger and fires, the burger came out on a Ciabatta bun which i fold odd since it was for a kid and not too many kids i know enjoy that type of bread.
It was a $50 dollar meal for my family of 4 and a lesson not to go back.
I would give a zero star if possible. My husband and I came to eat here for the first time and we're highly dissatisfied. The customer service was little to none, the staff was under trained obviously because everyone was running around with no real manager in place (I've worked in plenty of kitchens with over 6 years of experience), the front of the house was unorganized and dirty so I can't imagine how the back of the house looks... Upon entering and being seated we were "advised" to hurry up and order even after waiting 10 mins for a menu and after waiting for an hour for food another tables four person group who arrived after us got their food before ours. Our order was simple- burger and fries and chicken and waffles... The other table ordered full meals so that confused me even more as of how their food arrived before ours? Can't comment on the food due to after waiting for so long we decided to leave, but during our long wait I witnessed a large group table send back multiple plates so that was another red flag. I know for a fact I would not return to eat or refer anyone to spend money at this particular establishment. I hope they get the proper management needed or something.
When you think of a family platter you think that this is going to feed a family of 4 right? Wrong. Not even close. Went there spent 50 bucks on barely enough food for my 2 kids. Sorry y all this is a big thumbs down from me. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because my kids enjoyed the food. Me and hubby went to checkers to get dinner. Sad.
Waffle was good...fish taste old.. oxtails salty...diet coke was flat...crab cakes were good... didn't think it looked good to have people hanging out in front... were standing in front of the door...real eye sore.. didn't feel comfortable... weren't inviting... noone helped us find door... server was friendly.. bathroom was clean...went for the fish and was disappointed...
I have frequent this restaurant for years. The quality of food has progressively declined. Last year I ordered food for Christmas dinner and my family hated it. Still, I didn’t give up on Eddies. My last 3 visits to the restaurant was awful. Just yesterday Chef Eddie himself was there but the service was bad, the party next to me had to send their food back 3+ times. So after finally placing my order, 15 minutes later still no drink. With all the caos I just left. It was a MESS! I won’t go back!
The food was good.. although not as great as I had expected. The customer service in this place was outstanding!! I will be visiting again
The best soul food in Orlando! Just steps away from Orlando city stadium, this affordable restaurant is known for their options in chicken and waffles. Personally, I had the fried chicken with Mac n cheese and hush puppies. So delicious! Check it out!
My staff decided to order lunch today for Boss’s Day. The food is just plain disgusting. The food tasted precooked and frozen. Meatloaf was horrible, mac and cheese had no flavor other than salt, the muffin tasted as if it had been frozen for a long time. Chicken wings on the verge of being burnt and covered with hair and looked like they fried it in very old oil. The burgers we literally inedible including the bacon that was so hard they couldn’t eat it. Oh, and the fries remind you of those frozen “checkers fries” you buy in the supermarket. This was my second time trying this place I’m done. I wouldn’t even take the uneaten food home to feed my dog.
Let me start off by saying that We are not from Orlando, but was in town visiting. A good friend told us about this place, so we wanted to check it out! When we got in we were so confused, we didn’t know if someone was going to come and seat us or if we should just should just walk in. After about 10min we ask should we wait or should we just go and sit down. One of the waiters said oh you can sit anywhere. So that’s what we did. We overheard the table next to us talking amongst themselves, and said they have been waiting for over an hour to be served, but I just figured that it was five of them that they were just taking their time. After waiting for over 30 min and multiple waiters walking by us, I was going to get up and ask if they forgot about us. The final straw was five white people walk in and the white waiter walk them to their seats, gave them menus and ask have they ever been there before. Needless to say that we are black and we have to get our own menus. After seeing that no one was going to acknowledge my family and I, we got up and walk out, which no one never ask us anything or tried to stop us, it was the most horrible experience I have ever had. We try to support all businesses, but I can’t support a business that wouldn’t even acknowledge my family or myself!
Chef Eddie's is amazing! We used this venue to host my mom's 70th birthday party. The staff was super attentive, the location was great, plenty of parking, and the food was delicious. All of the party guests raved about the food. The generous portions were a hit too. Thank you Chef Eddie for making my mom's party everything we needed it to be.
Came here for my first time on my lunch break with a friend and was worried about the wait time since it is in the heart of downtown, but it was not bad at all. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is very welcoming, the menu prices are great and my shrimp po boy was delicious!
AMAZING food. Easily the best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had in my life. Great customer service as well. If you’re in the market for some good old fashioned soul food, you can’t do much better than this place. My wife and I will definitely be back!
Good food and great service. I would recommend to friends and family. Owner also interacts with customers, which i thought was amazing.
We went around lunch time - 11:45 AM. There were very few customers in at the time. Once 12:00 PM hit, it picked up.
There was a great lunch special that my friend took advantage of. I had chicken and waffles - phew!
Very great experience and is definitely a place that I would recommend and come back to.
I had the sweet potato chicken and waffles and got excellent service from Don. No complaints from me. Even Miss B came over to say hi. Ill definitely stop again when in Orlando.
Great buffet. Fast, cheap and really really good. I haven't cleaned my plate in almost 10 years. It was that good
Was pleasantly surprised by the food and service here. We had trouble finding a place to eat on Church Street prior to a concert at Amway and stumbled upon this place as a last resort. Many of us had the fried chicken, which was great.
Went out with my girls & my son to celebrate myself getting a car. The service was good but a bit slow. Our waitress kept us updated and even threw in some extra mac and cheese to go for free since it was the only thing my son would eat. The food was AMAZING. I got the 4 piece fried chicken dinner all dark meat with mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, and an extra side of sauteed veggies. Chicken was moist and well cooked. Mashed potatoes tasted just like Mississippi's. Mac and cheese was great I'm assuming because my son ate all of it. Sauteed veggies I would DEFINITELY recommend! All in all it was a great experience.
This place sucks.. I went here for my birthday and they completely ruined my birthday by giving me food poisoning. I ordered the fried chicken and it wasn't cooked all the way through. My wife ordered a seafood meal and they gave her half her food missing scallops and shrimp, not to mention that it took over an hour to get our food. Did I mention they spilled my sweet tea all over my pants and took about 20minutes to get me another drink..smdh.. I told who presented herself as the owner/manager of the restaurant and instead of fixing the issues or even apologizing she dismissed me and told me that I have to speak to the cook because he was the one that messed up. Oh did I forget to mention that there was a cover charge to eat at the restaurant that I was not told about until after my horrible visit? Yea.. that happened too. I will never ever ever... Ever! Go back to this place again. I'm surprised they're still in business.
I'd give zero stars if I could. We were the second people there and were practically ignored. We ordered and received part of the order, wrong, 40 minutes after ordering. When we asked about the rest and the part that was wrong we were told not to worry about it. We waited another 5 minutes and nothing. We ended up leaving without eating. We watched people come in, order, get served, leave. We were ignored. We didn't order anything difficult or time consuming, either. Horrible service and treatment of customers here.
This place was amazing. The staff was so courteous and amazing. They had good music playing. The owner greeted us with a smile and warmth. I had ribs, macaroni and cheese, greens and sweet potatoes. I cant wait to go back.
Not sure how this place gets high reviews. Party of 6. We didn’t order the buffet food at all. Service was so slow, food was overcooked/undercooked. The waffles didn’t taste like whatever flavor they were supposed to be and were chewy and old. The fried chicken was good. The waiter forgot our appetizer. The cake was the saving grace. The red velvet is so good. My family pointed out how weird the decor is. There’s an inflatable dirty shark hanging off the ceiling near the front door. The paintings and wall decor are fancy and classy. But the tables have cheap tablecloths on them. We won’t be back, there’s so many other soul food places in the area.
I'm only giving 3 stars because the food I had was really good. Everything else was lackluster. The restroom needed major attention. It seemed as though it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. The service we received was nonexistent. The restaurant was dusty. I feel like they need a good front of house manager to help with the service because the food is delicious. The chef was nice, and spoke to us. As a restaurant manager myself, it makes a difference when there isn't good front of house management. I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.
The good: Chef is really easy going and will accommodate your dietary needs. Food is good. Surprisingly not heavily salted as much soul food tends to end up. The bad: doing side work is fine but sweeping the floors when guests are eating is gross, particularly when right next to your table. The ugly: The decor is all over the place which isn't in itself the worst thing. What is really awful is the lack of overall cleanliness. The space is long overdue for a serious deep clean. Start with repairing all the missing and fouled ceiling tiles.
If you can get past the concern of the general shabbiness the food is quite good. I find it hard to be a regular though since the space is off putting.
I’m at a loss for words. Everything about this place was awful. Unprofessional service, mediocre food, unclean feeling, confusing atmosphere and theme, and half the stuff on the menu isn’t in stock. This place needs a makeover, a deep clean, and a new menu. Hypothetically, buffets sound great, but it’s not technically a buffet if you’re limited to 3 items. That’s just laziness so they don’t have to cook to order.
If they change up their menu strategy, their branding, the non-professional staff and their look they could cut restaurant costs and bring in the surrounding business-people for lunch. There are so many businesses nearby- this place should be filled in the middle of lunch. There was only one other table with people. Just horrible. One of the worst places I’ve ever been to.
Great customer service and the best soul food I have had in awhile. The owner is a very nice person and definitely knows what good customer service is. My sister and I had a flight to catch and she took the time to have our order prepared faster. Our waiter was also very nice. If ever in Orlando again will definitely visit Chef Eddies!
I should have took a photo of the food but it was too good to interrupt. There was quick, helpful, and friendly service. Prices were fair for the quality of the food. Kinda of like a restaurant in Los Angeles I liked to visit.
It was the Visit of Disappointment. We loved this restaurant, friendly tasty , reasonable. I left positive feedback a year ago.
This time right from the entry – surprise: the Buffet option for the lunch. OK. Let’s see – what’s there. But you can’t. There is a plastic screen separating the area with food, containers are covered, no dish names at all and the server is ready to fill your plate with…. Whatever you pick after you ask him – what is this and that and…. Do you feel comfortable in such Buffet? I didn’t . I asked for the chief – the owner has come, explained – that is the way I meant the Buffet to be no matter if you like it or not. And if you are arguing – I would NOT serve you at all. Cause I don’t want to.
Does that excite you? It didn’t me. In fact I was offended.
Would I ever go there again? I doubt. Would I advice you to go – decide for yourself. There are places , plenty of them, that wouldn’t show you on the door to get out.
The older thin Caucasian male server is so rude! I can't remember his name but I remember his face. The few times I've spoken to him to order over the phone, his tone is always very short and dry.
Seriously Chef Eddie, consider revamping your restaurant, from the confusing decor, inconsistent customer service and unwelcoming employees. The food I've ordered has been pretty good, when they actually have what you'd like available. :/ As the face of one of the most known African American soul food restaurants in Orlando, y'all can definitely do better! It's disappointing. My husband and I will not be returning again.
P.S. I gave two stars because as I said when the food is available, it was good.
fantastic food, great portions for the price. well worth whatever wait we had. we got there during a slow time, so I can't comment on service, but Chef Eddie and our waitress were both exceptionally friendly.
We arrived at 9pm they close at ten. The food was good. Want was lacking was the comfort. The tables had dollar store plastic table clothes, and the presentation was poor :(. It was also humid. We a few minor changes like paying attention to detail, it could get better. They also may need new plates and flatware.
Service was very good....but is anyone tasting the food they are putting out??? The best thing on my plate out of salmon, mac and cheese, crab cake and green beans was the green beans!!! Mac and cheese was dried out and no flavor except for the tons of pepper. The crab cake no celery no onion no red or green peppers in it it was just blah. I expected to get an amazing dinner but I could have made a better salmon, crab cake and mac and cheese no doubt!!! Just sad.
RUN! FAST! My uncle found a piece of wire in his collard greens! He could have seriously been injured because he was chewing it before he realized what it was. He was very forgiving and cordial to Chef Eddie. He asked if Chef would compensate him in some kind of way. Mr. Eddie offered him another bowl of collard greens instead! My uncle was only asking that he compensate his meal, which was about $15.00! Chef Eddie further insulted him by giving half off ($7.00) his meal and indignantly saying "if I give you a free meal, I would be out of business tomorrow because I am a small Black businessman". My uncle stated that he was as well, but as a businessman you have to fix your mistakes; and, that if he wanted, he could have taken him to court, especially since the Chef admitted fault. We took the high road, paid for our meals, thanked him and left. HOWEVER, WE WOULD NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN BECAUSE OF CHEF EDDIE'S INDIGNATION AND HORRIBLE ATTITUDE!
Chef thank you for the wonderful delicious "SOUL FOOD!" Brisket amazing, fried chicken omg, greens were off the hook. Mac and cheese was but I'd like a little more cheese but I understand mac and cheese is a very expensive dish to make corn bread muffins I enjoyed it I'll eat my extra muffin with the pineapple butter later on today.
If you are looking for a healthy soul food then this is the place. Tasty, healthy food and exceptional service. I assure you'll love this place and the environment over here.
I'd gone here for the first time to support Black business, but it was truly a horrendous experience. Soggy waffles. Burnt chicken. Slow service (my friend & I were the only customers at the time). Overripe watermelon. Sticky tables. Terrible, crowded decor. Out-of-stock ingredients. Its only saving graces were it's convenient downtown location to where i was going and the seasoning of the chicken was acceptable.
Have the greens! So good. Our food was cooked to order. Server was great. Owner asked about our meal twice. Was like eating with Grandma.
Excellent restaurant! The food was absolutely fantastic and served by professional, courteous, and knowledgeable servers. We had a couple of questions about different entrees and they were answered immediately with precise detail. Our server was busy but checked on us often
Cool little spot! The owner is an excellent man! The service was a little slow though. Lived the sweet potato waffles and chicken!
Amazing Chicken and Waffles! Ms. Carol was wonderful as well!
The breading on the chicken was so good and everything was so fresh!
