How would you rate Akwaaba Mansion Bed & Breakfast?
I have been trying to make a reservation for about a week now. I have left various voice mails and i have yet to recieve a call back.Very unprofessional.
Love love love the Akwaaba in Brooklyn. Breakfast keeps me full all day.
Had an awesome time this place is so cool its like your stepping back into the 1800's when you enter.
My stay at Akwaaba was amazing! We went in the spring, my wife and I. A mini honeymoon. For us the location couldn't have been any better. Super quiet and peaceful. A welcome change from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our hostess was excellent and made sure we had everything we needed. The room felt just like home. Not like a hotel or anything like that. The bed was the best I've ever laid on. And our location, Cape may, NJ, just a short walk to the beach. Will definitely return to this one!
Fui a Akwaaba Mansión para una ceremonia de boda. El partido fue muy divertido , el personal era amable, y el lugar era hermoso .
A beautiful home and true bnb. Ask the family the incredible history of owning the house/bnb and all the trials and stories associated with it. Incredible.
Akwaaba Mansion is a manicured paradise nestled in a wonderful location. The property is stately and well maintained. There is ample space for events and parties both inside and outside the three story mansion.
Beyond the beauty of the property is the warmth and professionalism of the staff. All needs and requests were met promptly and regularly exceeded my expectatons from what seems like a small family owned business.
The accommodations are luxurious and cozy. It is a wonderful place for residents of the area to have a "staycation" or for tourists looking for a more authentic brooklyn experience. The food is locally sourced and preparations are always delicious. If you're lucky you might even end up on a movie set.
It is horrible and dirty I only gave it a 2 star to be nice if was my worst stay ever should have went to a hotel I recommend not going there. But you can and I warned ya.
Great venue that we've used several times. Staff has always been great.
Beautiful old mansion. Decorated with themes celebrating Africa and African American history and culture. Each room has different theme from Black Memorabilia, Ashanti-West African etc. Intimate setting for your stay, inn keeper makes scrumptious breakfast to start your day. You're on your own to explore the city lock yourself in at bedtime and wake to the smell of awesome breakfast in the morning! Great food, rooms, decor, great for events like weddings!
We had a magical wedding celebration at Akwaaba Mansion in our beautiful neighborhood, Bed-Stuy. Original details in the architecture, New Orleans vibe, homey and cozy. We had the ceremony outside in the yard (we had to put up tents due to summer afternoon shower), then cocktail hour inside the mansion, then reception outside. It was a very humid summer night, so inside got really hot, unfotunatlly... needs stronger AC for parties.
Monique, Tracy, Sheri, and all other members at Akwaaba were helpful and understanding. I'm happy that we choose this place for our special occasion. Thank you!
Wonderful rooms right in the heart of BedStuy! An Afrocentric flaire and yummy food. The owner has been in Brooklyn for over 20 years and have been able to evolve with dynamism of the borough.
The place is clean and staff is friendly. It is a nice bed and breakfast.
I Love this historical black owned bed and breakfast. The service is impeccable. And there are many events that occurred during the year. The facility is clean and the neighborhood adds to the historical beauty and richness.
Great to visit such a historic spot. It's beautiful, intimate, and warm.
Visited yesterday for a wedding. The space is beautiful! Hardwood floors and the whole nine! Didn't see the bed & breakfast area but heard very good things about it. I would recommend!
Beautiful mansion but they are definitely under utilizing its attraction. The landscaping could use some work and also some maintenance/restoration on the old wood in and on the house.
I attended a wedding ceremony and reception at Akwaaba Mansion. The staff were efficient and friendly. The internet was a little cramped for s large number of people, but was beautiful decorated. The grounds too were lovely, but not exactly sprawling.
Nice place to celebrate your special events (wedding, birthday parties etc...)
A true joy and delite in Brooklyn
This is a beautiful home which needs many repairs! The age is showing..
Amazing location and very hospitable!
Great venue for a private party for family and friends. We had our Grandmother's 95th birthday party/celebration here and it was perfect for the occasion. SD3
Beautiful place. Something so magical about this old establishment. I created for an event at this bed and breakfast inn. Very timeless and breathtaking with a gorgeous construction. Great place for a venue..very Victorian not only in construct but with its beautiful furnishings, which totally transports you to this age. The kitchen is a gorgeous piece of history.
Nice hideaway for a family, friends or a couple. The owner is simply amazing and makes sure you comfortable and well catered for.
Could have been cleaner
I love the decor and the staff were great.
It was a pleasure to be their for a day to film and tape a special! Looking forward to re-visiting
What an amazing, beautiful spot!! The decor, and overall vibe of Akwaaba feels just like home. Will absolutely be coming back and will check out their other locations! Thanks for a great experience!
Unbelievable Venue - We Love Working With The Akwaaba Events Team!
I was at your house dis past summer. @ Esi's non profit gala. i can tell you that you attract a propr crowd. the food was elegant and the atmosphere was african which must be preserved.
DONT DO IT!
this place is disgusting and smells bad! the fake innkeeper sherri was so unprofessional and ghetto! i gave 1 star because we took a uber to the shops near BARCLAYS ARENA.
What a treat this was! Stayed over night and I was pampered by Sherri (sorry if the spelling is wrong). Beautiful 1860's Mansion in Brooklyn- a whole new way to do New York.
I love this place. Great for social events.
Went there for a wedding. Lovely place in the heart of BedSty.
Great place and professional assistant. Also great means of transportation.
Shot the venue as a wedding photographer. I'd love to stay here with my wife sometime!
My boyfriend booked this Inn as a mini get-a-way birthday present. It was a fantastic trip and stay. First, we were greeted immediately upon arrival even though it was "after hours". We were asked if we needed anything. We mentioned we were in a rush to unload bags, grab some quick food and head back out to catch a show. As we unloaded our bags, one of the Inn employees brought us a really good platter of snacks, like meatballs, cheeses, crackers, fruit, chocolates, and greek spinach pie snacks.
We returned that night and got in bed....those bedsheets though. Seriously the bed was one of the best beds ever. Better than a hotel. The next day we were served a wonderful full breakfast. Delicious. And that evening my boyfriend planned a little surprise. When we returned to the Inn, the room was lit with candles, rose petals, and we had champagne and strawberries. It was great! OH and the next day (I was a little hungover), they let us eat breakfast in the room! And there was so much good breakfast food! It was a really nice place to stay and the people were so accommodating. My bf and I have talked about returning when the weather is nicer.
Wonderful stay! Great breakfast, comfortable bed, and perfect "romance package."
Wasn't impress with the Brooklyn Location. I stayed in "The Jumping the Broom" room, now I under the mansion itself was built in the 1800's however for the price I paid at least make sure the furniture is in good condition. The paint on one of the nightstand has peeled off, the bedskirt has two dirt marks on them, the drapes and upholstered chairs and rug needs a serious cleaning.
Beautiful venue with efficient and capable service. They are able to maximize the space and turn it around from ceremony to meal space without a hitch.
La creme de la crene!! Hostess & Host with the most! You already know!!
Magical experience! Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Awesome neighborhood.
Loved it! Hands down best place to have an event in Brooklyn!!
Very nice space in historic Bed-Sty Brooklyn. Loved the ambiance.
So many memories of this place. It never disappoints me .. Highly recommend for any event. My cousin had a wedding here a couple weeks ago and the area, accomodations, and the food (Big Daddy Home Plate ) was outstanding. Highly recommend!!!
Such a cool place get the in room massages omg soooo good!
The Akwaaba is a great bed and breakfast in BK and the fact that it's black owned makes it even better! Monique is so welcoming and friendly and my innkeepers (Olatutu and Sherry) made the most delicious breakfast(s) ever and even packed up my breakfast the first morning. The cake I got for my birthday was delicious also. I loved my time here and I cannot wait to come back!
Saw your appearance on MSNBC.
In my minds eye, staying on McDougal St. during my next NY stay is a foregone conclusion. I'm so sorry you are going through some unanticipated terrible times.
"Who cares for the caregivers?" must be remembered for your peace of mind, or else y'all will get sick, and GIRL; we do not need that!
Faith will lead the way and this temporary time will just be a historical blip that "one day, we will all think funny!"
Stay well and see y'all very soon.
With warmest regards.
It’s taken me 11 years to write this (sorry). My wife booked a one week trip to NYC for my 50th bday. We stayed in Jumping the broom suite. The experience of staying in Akwaaba has never left me and whenever we talk to anybody that’s going to NY we always recommend Akwaaba. Ever since I was 10 years old wearing my first pair of Levi’s I wanted to go to NY 40 years later I was there. It was and will always be a special trip for me and the memories I have will never be surpassed, staying in Akwaaba was the icing on the cake... What a wonderful place I can’t fault it....so if your pondering about staying there then listen...BOOK IT you won’t be disappointed. We went back to NY last year for my 60th taking our two sons six and eight so it was impossible to stay in Akwaaba but we took them to see it in a Yellow cab and as we looked the lovely memories flooded back. It felt complete taking my two boys to see that special place on that special trip. Thank you for your warm welcome Monique and Glenn. We are thinking about going back to NYC in a couple of years hopefully. I will call in and say hello and bring Glenn some English newspapers which I remember he asked me for. Take care and stay safe.
I had the opportunity to attend a wedding reception at the Akwaaba Mansion Bed & Breakfast. It was an absolutely beautiful set up. The B&B arranged for each...read this and 18 more
