How would you rate The Munch Factory?
I LOVE this place! This is one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. The food is amazing! If you're looking for great food and a family friendly atmosphere, this is your place. I really enjoy the shrimp and grits, the salmon... and pretty much everything on the menu. The owners are down to earth and really sweet. All the locals eat here so you know it's good! Don't fall into the tourist traps...eat at Munch Factory.
Food this good should be against the law. But I'm glad it's not. Everything is delicious. Can't wait to go back.
Restaurants like this are why New Orleans is famous for its food. The Trout and the blackened Red Fish were fantastic. The turtle soup was also quite good. Also, this place was fully staffed and the waiters seemed to care. I am definitely taking my friends and family to this restaurant when they visit.
Great atmosphere and food despite the cheesy name.
Great food! Great service! Love this place.
My friends and I are not returning.
I am "Faithful to the Munch" just finished the chopped salad with boiled shrimp and gumbo and thoroughly enjoyed it. I eat here quickly at least twice a month. High quality food (huge shrimp) great service and quiet clean atmosphere. Love the Munch
Going to the Munch Factory is a must if you are in New Orleans or visiting. The atmosphere is awesome, the food is great, the staff is friendly. Its an all around good spot.
-Listen to Brasco
Great customer service, however, I'm not a fan of how pricy the food is compared to what you are getting.
The food wasnt the best, the prices are not reasonable but the service is really nice. They were nice and professional. The setting is also nice too bad the food isnt so great
Nice nice quiet place very enjoyable
The was OK it was something I can fix at home. Service was very slow and we had to wait 30 mins for the bill. Its over priced and it suppose to be black owned but all I seen was white ppl... But any who I won't go back and I'm writing this while I'm waiting for the bill
Don't pass up on the Bayou Fries. The roast beef debris that covers those fries might be the best in the city. Also ask if the VooDoo Burger is on special. If it is, and you're in a burger mood, get it!
Food was okay this time they ran out of buns so our food was served on French bread. I have been here before and the food was good.
Delicious food. They gave me dirty utensils though...
Outstanding service, succulent food, and hospitality out of this world! ! A great quaint gem that Jordan and Lexi have created! !
I really enjoyed my experience at this establishment. When i came to this establishment i was in a party of 25 people. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating to your needs. The food service was a little slow but we choose this place at random to have i meeting with little advanced warning. I still enjoyed the food and have come back several times sense then. I would recommend this place to family and friends.
The wife and I love this place. We recently visited on #essencefestival wknd. I must say out of all the other restaurant's we tried, this place is #1 on our list *Redfish*oysters over cream sauce ummm🙄
So So So Good! Like seriously. Those sliders were sent from heaven just bless my soul. I love this place.
Great stop between classes and for dinner. Interesting contemporary creole foods, and there are usually neat specials offered when I've visited. Also the menu seems to be regularly modified so there's always something new that looks neat.
It was a last min but we couldnt have had picked a better place to dinne The food was great i had the oysters boat n the homemade fries. So if ur in the area its a most that you stop by.
Nothing to remember.
It was so nice to visit a restaurant and be 100% satisfied! The atmosphere was comfortable. I love how the doors opened to let in fresh air. The service was friendly and genuine. The food was outstanding. Without a doubt it was fresh and homemade. I thought the pricing was very affordable with choices in different ranges. We left full and happy. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
The food is delicious, well presented, and served piping hot. The staff is wonderful, so welcoming and friendly. It's a wonderful place with the most inviting and relaxing environment I've experienced in a long time. I love this restaurant. Will definitely be telling my family about this place!
The food was really good. This is a newer place I think so if you are considering trying it, do!
The salmon and grits was amazing.
Great atmosphere. Friendly owners and staff. Exceptional food! We are never disappointed!
The salmon was fantastic, atmosphere was great, and staff were friendly.
The service was awesome and the good was amazing. The ambiance and the music was very relaxing, I'll be back!
Met the owner and she was delightful. Love the atmosphere... like a living room. Great food. Huge portions
Since they moved to new location on Sophie wright, munch factory is terrible. They were my favorite restaurant too. I drove out to the new location and my dish wasnt the same at all. I was so disappointed as I was a regular. I will never go back after my last experience. It tasted like boxed pasta and portion size was cut in half.
I wish I could give 10 stars!! I don't know which is better, the food or the staff!!!!! The best restaurant I've been to in the 23 years of my life. If you are staying anywhere near here, you MUST stop by!!!
The best food I ate while visiting New Orleans this past weekend, hands down! Service was great, and the fried green tomatoes were even better! Will come back on my next visit!
Good food, nice atmosphere, would be a great happy hour or Saturday spot to show your friends because I'm sure you passed by it a million times but didn't know it was there. Every time it's my first time going to a place that has burgers I always get a burger. If you mess up a basic staple I can't trust you with anything else, it was delicious, I opted for the potato peels and it must have been a mistake because they gave me a million. They were delicious and plentiful. Bae had the fish of the day with lump crabmeat and a tomato salad, i ate most of his food too.
One loss of stars was because we went during happy hour and there was no bartender, just a waitress behind the bar. She said if she didn't know how to make a drink she would google it for us. while I appreciate the effort, I never trust someone who has to Google a drink recipe (and the margarita was definite a costco mix, I know that taste from anywhere). All and all I would recommend the place.
Absolutely wonderful! The food, the atmosphere, the service....ans sis I say the food!
An accidental gem of a discovery. Eclectic menu of New Orleans favorites. Helpful, friendly, attentive staff. Gumbo was of the Cajun kind made with a dark roux base and just the right seasonings and heat. Full bar. Dessert is decadent. Will return on our next trip to NOLA.
Great Food! Great Atmosphere! Great People! If you want great seafood gumbo please come here!
OMG this place was amazing. The food awesome wish I had a bigger stomach. Can't wait to go back
Excellent food and service at this hidden treasure in the Garden District! I came in one Sunday morning for brunch while visiting the area. Although the staff were a bit swamped by a very large group celebrating a birthday, they still kept decent track of me. I had the Kitchen Sink, which is home fried hash browns topped with hot sausage, cheese, a fried egg, and homemade country gravy. So good! I have tried dishes like this in the past, sometimes known as Garbage Plates, but this was definitely the best fine-dining take on the dish, with lovely presentation. Overall, great food at a great price!
Was hesistant at first due to the lack of people on a Sunday during brunch but once we got our food... Amazing! We got the gumbo and lower district fries between two people. gumbo had to die for pieces of seafood and sausage. The district fries were creamy cheesy and oh sooo tasty. They also have bottomless mimosas for $11. Atmosphere is modern with a Creole feel. Nice little quaint bar to have a before dinner drink. Overall great service and experience.
Wonderful brunch. Crab cake Benedict was cooked to perfection on French bread served with grilled asparagus. Best crabcake bene I have ever had! Excellent shrimp replace over fried green tomatoes. Great staff and service. Will definitely be back.
My friends and I LOVED this restaurant so much. We stopped by our first night in New Orleans after searching for black owned restaurants and were blown away. Alexis (the owner?) was more than amazing and so was all the staff. THE FOOD was to die for. We loved it so much we came back for brunch. An affordable bottomless mimosa and sweet words from the staff made our morning. During brunch, we were celebrating a birthday and the staff graciously allowed us to request a song and brought out a delicious chocolate cake. All this to say, yes to the munch factory!
Wow! This place was so good. They had plenty of seating and good ambiance. You could go dressed up or super casual. The food is quality. My father ordered the ribs and said it was the best he'd ever had. I had a pasta dish the had chicken, sausage, and shrimp. It was amazing. I also had a cup of gumbo, so good. All the plates had an ample amount of food. Our server was the owner and the chef is her husband. She was super friendly, conversational and attentive. Felt like we treated as family. We had a party of 17 and we felt like that. I highly recommend this joint.
A MUST go weather you are a visitor or A Local!! NOLA owned and run by a beautiful family that supports their community. With both professional and a personal touch it’s a Go To for breakfast lunch or dinner.
There was a lot of amazing food I had while visiting NOLA, but this place won, hands down, for most delicious. I had had the fried oysters with grits and a side salad, and the bread pudding for desert. Every bite was DELECTABLE. I wish I had had time to go back for more. Oh, and the owners and staff were extra friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I can't sign them enough praise and will definitely visit anytime I'm in NOLA. Love love love! THANK YOU for the memorable meal.
Great food and service. Very cool spot. It's a nice space in a very cool part of town. Very enjoyable I will be back
Pretty decent service..... food was pretty....I had the oysters gentilly and I felt like I was eating sand, the spinach and onions were awesome tho. I also tried the crab cakes which were amazing.
Food and setting was great. Love the environment. But the service was pretty slow and inconsistent.
Got the crab cakes for brunch and they were drowning in sauce and everyone at my table’s food was tepid at beat. I am so disappointed. I had to force myself to eat it. Also, the menu isn’t vegetarian friendly so stay away if you don’t eat meat or seafood.
The service is incredibly slow. We were seated immediately, but waited a whole hour before getting our food. They staff was nice enough but they are crazy slow and not equipped to deal with a brunch rush. Stay away from here if it’s busy or if you have a large party. We saw multiple tables with people getting their food at different times. We asked for condiments and they forgot, and it took forever to get water.
Overall, slow service and I would never recommend anyone coming here. I came to support a black-owned business but I am so incredibly disappointed at every aspect. Gave 2 stars because the interior is cute, otherwise would’ve given it one.
OMG! My first day of my vacation started off great after eating here. The food is very delicious and worth the wait. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
We didn't have one bad dish here. During our weeklong visit, we ate here three times! Some of the best fries I've ever had. Go for Sunday brunch and try one of the specials whatever it is.
The gravy cheese fries are the best I've ever had. The food is fantastic and I love the atmosphere. Nice location a little rough to park late at night. Good diverse menu. The herb chicken dish is fantastic and a must have. Worth checking out!
Main thing that erked me was the fried food was very greasy, a clear warning that the cooking grease is dirty! Had the shrimp remoulade with fried green tomatoes. Fried tomatoes were drenched in oil. The remoulade sauce was yuck. The roast beef sandwich was so lame, did not touch the greasy fries on the plate. I was totally embarrassed that i suggested the so called restaurant to my friends. No matching utensils, chipped plates, worn out seats... I'll be better spending $180 at a better restaurant. They need to put out better food. My opinion, this place sucks!
Great food. We had the Nola cakes, salmon w grits, gumbo and chopped salad as well as the kids grilled cheese. Tasty fries. Great setting, fun art, friendly service. It was not super busy when we were there, food was out fast.
This food was absolutely delish! Seasoned well and cooked well. Catfish was SOOOOO delicious and the grits were ON POINT. Service was swift and the right type of attentive. Owner came out with a great big smile and lots of souls. Great option off the beaten path!
Amazing Service! Amazing Food! Great Atmosphere. I will be going back!!
The oyster gentille was amazing. Going to be hard not to order on every visit. It starts with a layer of creamed spinach under a perfectly fried oyster topped with a layer of sweet slightly acidic caramelized onions. The creaminess of the spinach, the crunch of the fresh oysters the sweetness of the onions comes together perfectly.
Absolutely horrible experience, Javonate the service waiter..was extremely slow and we arrived before they were supposed to open. The food took a long time to come out. The chairs were ripped and torn and looked old. The bathroom was indescribable! It looked like it wasn’t cleaned in days. To end it all.. a guest close to the bar area saw a Rat! Mouse..mice.. and immediately left. This was a horrible 1st time experience.. please do better
No, no. Food took longer than expected, came out below room temperature (herb chicken, asparagus & mashed p). Sent it back twice for that. Chef came out (appreciate it). Said new chefs belong. Why do the mashed potatoes taste instant? The Idahoan brand taste better than that. $33 bill because 20% gratuity for split check and you’d think after me falling asleep waiting on food & voicing how it tasted that they’d discount for the inconvenience. Poor customer service choice. Won’t be going back ever.
Very good food. Great atmosphere. Love the location. Cool menu. And the service staff is very friendly.
Amazing gumbo, absolutely the best crawfish etoufee, and amazing ambiance!
Will definitely be back when I visit NOLA again!
Delicious food! We had the amazing gumbo and crab cakes. Also fried green tomatoes with shrimp. Highly recommended
I read amazing reviews that brought me to this restaurant. We were one of three guests in the restaurant for dinner. Our waiter took our order and never checked on us again. We could see her chatting in the kitchen after. We waited 45 minutes for a meal that was crazy salty and needless to say not worth the wait or poor service. The man that came in after us received his food and check before we ever got our food.
Damn delicious shrimp and grits! Friendly staff and decent prices. Highly recommend.
Great food (gumbo was out of this world, followed by great crabcakes) and atmosphere!!! Munch Punch was very good!!! This place hit it out of the park!!!
So yummy, and run by great folks. The munch bowl (grids with debris on top) is beyond description. The food is reasonable and the portions aren't ridiculous. It feels fancy enough without being pretentious, and the overall vibe is really warm and welcoming. The food is well-seasoned but sometimes super salty, so take care when ordering things that are "sauced". I had one of the best plates of food I've ever had in my life during Coolinary last year (put the short ribs over grits on the permanent menu please!), and have returned many times since.
The experience, wait staff, and food were all great. Will definitely be visiting again for new dishes
Great atmosphere. Definitely a hidden jewel in New Orleans. Generous portions and amazing, authentic Creole food. I have been there many times and the food is always consitently good!!
Unassuming place and name. Creative takes on a lot of standard bar fare and local comfort food. Some items are great, some are meh. Salads, Mac and cheese, bisque was good. Shrimp n grits and tuna tacos not so much.
Came here for Mother’s Day and my family LOVED the buffet and service!!! Everything was delicious!! Can’t wait to come back and bring new friends!
Mannn, this place was the bomb! The dish I had was redfish topped with lump crab...only in NAW'LINS. The wife had salmon, shrimp and grits w/ asparagus. The atmosphere was/is great. Will most definitely go back.
I know this has been a year since this happened, but a friend encouraged me to write this review. My team and I had chosen to celebrate one of our team members birthday there for lunch but when we arrived we were told that the restaurant was closing. I believe it was the Owner who told us that they were closing but she was very apologetic that we could not dine there that day, she gave the birthday girl a gift card for a free meal for a future visit. The following week, we found out that the restaurant closed because Jay Z and Beyoncé paid for private dining for themselves and their guest. The Owner was very professional and did not disclose that they were the reasons for the close and was very professional to accommodate the Birthday Girl on her next visit. I love this place!!!!
I had the Fried Salmon Bites, they were so good! Fresh, crisp, & hot! & the sauce that comes on it was the cherry on top! The services was slow due to them not having that many waitresses on staff that day. Overall everything was good!
Try everything there, its all obviously made from scratch! Ribs were so tender and flavorful, the fish was cooked to perfection.
Ate here twice while in New Orleans can't wait to get back already planning my new stay. The bartender was the best.
The food here is really good. The short ribs are the most tender and best tasting short ribs I've had in a long time. Authentic creole and new orleans cuisine. Wine selections can be a little better but the food is excellent.
Great experience! The atmospher is cozy and lively. I tried the blackened redfish with an awesome seafood cream sauce and fried grit cakes. The dessert was so full and rich with flavor you wont wanna leave til you finish every bite.
Okay... So I Found This Place On Yelp & Im Extremely Happy! The Buffalo Shrimp Were Good (Could Have Had More Buffalo) The Salmon Topped With Lump Crabmeat Was To Die For!! Let Me Not Forget The Service It Was Superb! Food Came Out Fast & Everything... Definitely Recommend
This is a quaint little eatery in the garden district. We stopped there for lunch had a good menu, The salads were large filling and very delicious. The cost was average and the service was very good. I would visit this place again and suggest it to anyone looking for a nice priced meal and small business to support.
Went here on 9/7. Pleasant enough place. Service was ok. It was kind of warm in there, though. Shrimp and Grits tasted better than they looked. I got a drink that was really good, second line punch. I'd go again.
The atmosphere and vibe is so amazing, it feels like you've been frequenting the restaurant for a long time. First time there and the food was spectacular, the owner was our server the whole time and we never realized it until we were leaving. She was so friendly and sweet, everyone was great.
Food good, service SLOW
I was ready to love this place, even the sticky floor. The staff was nice, the drinks were good, but omg getting our food took 1 1/2 hour to get! The place wasn't crowded, and we were some of the first people there, but there was a 30 minute wait before we even sat. (no big deal...). As good as the food was, it just wasn't worth the wait after sitting. No more dinner time on a Friday night.
This gem came recommended to us by New Orleans locals whilst we were still in South Africa. The best shrimp and grits by far and wide that I have ever had. An absolute treat!
I had been wanting to try this place after hearing really good things about it. So I suggested this place to my friends tonight and we were all amazed. My client and friend who tends to be pretty picky loved the ribs. The potato peels were the best potatoes I have maybe ever had. The servers were kind and patient with us and the ambience was great. I look forward to bringing others here.
Munch never disappoints.
Food is always hot, fresh and service staff are great.
Favorites: pork chop, ribs, Mac n cheese, bisque
Food is amazing!!! Great ambiance. Great vibe. Great music with classics of r and b, hip hop and soul from the 80’s and 90’s. Smiley the waitress provided great service. A must visit!!!!
I happen to see this place walking by. I really enjoyed the catfish sandwich. One of the best pieces of catfish I have had! I would recommend!
I went to The Munch Factory last night for a birthday dinner and the service we received was terrible. Our party arrived and was seated at 7 and our food didn’t reach the table until 9. A table of around 10 people came in after us and they were completely done with their meal before ours had even hit the table.
When our food finally arrived it was as if it had been sitting out for a while. Half our fries were hard (like the fries at the bottom of the fryer) and the others were full of grease and oil. Our food was very oily and greasy and overall not appealing. We left feeling like we didn’t even eat anything because of how poor our experience was.
Our party had seafood gumbo, shrimp chowder, chopped salad, and a burger with fries. All were wonderful. I'd heartily recommend.
The food was so of the best I've had since visiting from California to New Orleans & our waitressc& staff were the epitome of professionalism.....I HIGHLY recommend eating at this gem if visiting NOLA!
The Munch Factory is delicious!!!!! The restaurant has like an industrial interior, very at-home type vibe, with smooth jams playing in the background....read this and 232 more
