How would you rate Li'l Dizzy's Cafe?
Rant and rave as you will about the seafood in New Orleans, but Li'l Dizzy's will give you life with that fried chicken and other southern delicacies. They do have a menu, but why try to decide when the buffet is all prepared waiting for you? I killed it on the friend chicken, mac and cheese, and their catfish. Also, I'm generally not a fan of sweet tea, but theirs was on point. 100% a place you can't miss while in the area.
Where else can you get all you can eat soul food, have a shot with the staff, and take a picture with Sofia Vergara (yes, this happened!)? No place I've ever been and that's why you gotta love Li'l Dizzy's. Every time I set foot in New Orleans - I mark out about 3 hours of time to get it in. The wait is sometimes long, but it's always time well spent. I'd list the food you should try, but then that would imply there's something you shouldn't. And it's close enough to the Quarter that you might want to consider walking, just to work some of that goodness off afterwards.
If you go, sit at the table closest to the cash register, and listen to the cashier answer the phones and talk to the wait staff. Hillarious.
Wish I could have eaten here my entire stay in NOLA. Great place and wonderful service.
This is, beyond a doubt, the best restaurant I've been to ever. Do the buffet. Ya gotta at least try it all. It's New Orleans food at it's best. The bread pudding......wow.
My fam & I were visiting NOLA for MLK weekend & I would not recommended this place to anyone visiting New Orleans. The waitress was extremely rude & hated the fact that we asked questions about the buffet. The buffet was overpriced with limited choices. They had only fried or baked chicken, gumbo, red beans & rice, mac n cheese & one/two other veggie choices for $16.99. Overall, we wanted to "love it" but the food was average and the waitress' bad attitude ruined the whole experience. And she expected to get a 20% tip. Whenever I'm in NOLA again I will definitely avoid this place.
I like the Fried Chicken and Gumbo but that's all..the Mac and Cheese has no flavor (barely any cheese also)..the mixed vegetables taste like they're from a can..I don't know what that is they're trying to pass as bread pudding but that's not bread pudding..not worth the $$..I won't ever come back!!
My go to spot for good fried chicken and gumbo. Stopped in today for brunch, had the buffet as always, left feeling like a fat pig, lol. The wait staff represents everything New Orleans. A little pricey I must admit considering the buffet choices are very limited but it does not deter me from going back.
This has been the best meal that I've had in New Orleans so far. The fried chicken, jambalaya, and bread pudding were the stars of the show. Get the buffet, you won't be disappointed.
The FIRST place I go whenever I get to New Orleans. The food has been nothing less than great every time I go. I will keep it high in my restaurant rotation.
Local place, neat atmosphere and good food.
We were lucky Californians to have heard of their breakfast buffet. The service went above and beyond! Everything I tried--the food, the coffee--were great for a reasonable price. And the buffet even included bread pudding, yum!
Went there to eat during 2015 Christmas weekend. Foods and service were okay but over priced ($17/person for salad bar and 9 to 10 items at the heated bar). They automatically charge an 18% tips for party over 5 people. In my case the tips were $17 for 5 people! You could order omelets and eggs but not sure if those were included in the price. If not, expect to pay some over priced scrambled eggs and omelets. A $10 to $12 tip would be fair or way more than enough but not $17 for the server only checked on drinks and took our empty plates. If you go there with over 5 people, suggest to split your party in smaller group and request to sit together. This is a place that I would suggest to go one time but not twice.
We had the lunch buffet that was delicious and very affordable for the quality of the food. There were mostly locals there and that means a lot to me. Not a tourist tap!
The shrimp, crab meat and gumbo were delicious. The fried chicken was ok and the vegetables were way too cooked for my taste. The Mac n cheese was OK too. I could not easy the bread puddin neither did I eat any of the items in the salad bar.
The server was very nice and the owner a lovely person. He even took a picture with us!
I absolutely recommend this place of you are looking for local food.
The sweet tea, fried chicken, mac n cheese and the bread pudding... delicious delicious delicious. I will make it a point to always stop by for lunch when in this city. The service was excellent!
This place was recommended by the owner of the Airbnb we stayed at. Definitely did not disappoint. Lively atmosphere with some of the best soul food I've ever had. Wish I could've taken a barrel of the gumbo to go...
Went on a recommendation and would happily go again. Had the Sunday brunch ($25 each). Slightly pricey but the food was good. Gumbo was delightful. They do take reservations
Food. Is. Amazing!!! After spending a small fortune in a 5 star French Quarter restaurant near our hotel, for completely un~authentic tiny portions of unsatisfying gourmet garbage, that we could have found anywhere in Manhattan, we ended up here. Despite getting in the door five minutes before close time, we were greeted with warmth and patience. Culture. History. Southern hospitality. Mac and cheese that will make culinary artists cry. Greens that not only made me re~evaluate whether I like them, but converted me in an almost religious experience. ...and don't get me started on the bread pudding/peach cobbler!!! Why aren't you here yet? Best part of our visit to NOLA. 💙💙🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I only gave this cafe 1 star because the food was actually really good, despite their completely appalling "customer service" and outrageous prices. We weren't greeted when we walked in and literally stood there for a good five minutes while half the customers just sat there and stared at us. When we were finally seated, we sat at our table and waited for a good ten minutes before we were even acknowledged by our useless waitress, Tracy, who lived by the words "I'll be right back". After ordering my coffee and waiting almost 15 minutes for it (while seeing the two fresh pots of coffee brewed just sitting on top of the coffee makers), I kindly reminder her that I had ordered coffee in which her response was "I know babe, I didn't forget about your coffee", yet I waited another 15 minutes for her to actually bring it. Our bill was ridiculous, especially for eating at an overcrowded, rudely-staffed, rundown cafe. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone even if it was the only place in town to eat. Honestly, you would probably get better service from McDonald's. Such a disappointing experience, especially since it was one of the only two "must visit" cafes on our list for our NOLA trip. Don't waste your time or money!
This place was recommended by someone at the hotel we were staying at in the French Quarter. It was absolutely the best food we had in our 4 day stay. The fried chicken was fantastic
The food was decent, but the service and prices are horrible. It's very difficult to see how they had 4+ stars. There are many better soul food restaurants better than this. Very underwhelming experience.
Visiting NOLA from the ATL....Let me tell you...you must go to Li'l Dizzy's. Best breakfast ever! Grilled biscuits was sooo so goood.
Went there for breakfast as recommended by lonely planet.
Food ranges from bad to edible. Plates left half finished.
Restaurant was half empty but we still waited for half an hour to get our plates.
Waitress is awful.
Everything is overpriced.
OMG the only place I can get Real Gumbo like my Mama used to make, there is a full menu and on most days a buffet I love the buffet and on Sundays there is a brunch which includes French toast and omelettes you should try an omelet with crab meat it's breathtaking. I have noticed that the buffet changes it's not always the same thing ever, I could sit here and name of each thing that I like but that would make this review way too long however I haven't tried anything from there that I dislike. If you are claustrophobic and don't like being up close and personal this place might be a problem for you. The service is 100% authentic New Orleans take it or leave it like it or hate it
The staff was great. The waitress had her style of charm and the food was AMAZING! Soul food like grandma's recipe. Definitely would recommend! Bring your appetite!
I think there needs to be another star ......I would give it 6 out of 5. How I love the food let me count the ways. It ain't nothing fancy it's just down home cooking. I had the French toast and I also tried the fried chicken as well which both were absolutely delicious I was with small group so we all tried different things. The staff was so warm and friendly. It is absolute must to come here and I will make it a point to come back!
Wonderful food..gumbo to die for! Always busy but they keep everything moving. Super friendly staff. The real flavor of NOLA with the food and people. Love this place!!
Great little hole in the wall. This place was recommended by a friend and we are glad we came. They offer plates as well as a la cart items and if u are really hungry u can have the buffet. We had fried chicken and the seafood omelette.
I love this place! It is small on the inside but feels like you are home every time you walk in. The owner and staff are so nice and friendly! Try the gumbo which is a staple here. If you are lucky enough to go on a day when they have the veal it is great! The fried chicken is a must too. I have to go here every time I come back home.
Feels like home cooking! We were in New Orleans on vacation and visited this Cafe multiple times. Loved the fried chicken (my favorite food and my new favorite place to eat it), ham and cheese omelet, sea food gumbo (!!), and sausage po boy.
Depending on what you get, it seems service can take awhile, despite the small room (it's often crowded) but that gives you time to take in all the paintings and pics of celebrities. The food is worth it. Great, helpful servers too!
Good breakfast! No frills, just solid food for a good price! Ate breakfast here twice during our trip to New Orleans. Seems like a local spot. I suggest the eggs and fried catfish (not on the sunday menu)! Sunday menu has less options and is a bit more expensive.
They have the hottest hot sausage I've ever had. Loved it. My waitress was an absolute sourpuss. Totally unfriendly
Food and service was disappointing.
The French Toast Love is amazing...... The restaurant service and food options are Premium. I like the art works of Dizzie and the photographs documenting local and national heritage and legacy.
Great food, friendly service, lunch was great.
Didn't expect much but the place was actually pretty good.
I was really excited to try this place after reading the reviews. As soon as we walked in, it was a bad experience. We were unsure if it was self seating so we asked a server. She rudely said, "No. I need to get through. " So we got out of her way. When she asked how many, we told her 2 and that we wanted to sit outside. There were 2 empty tables, no one waiting outside or inside to be seated. She was so rude, said ,"hold on.. I've got all these big parties ahead of you." Then told us to just go ahead and sit outside but she would move us as soon as another party arrived. UM OKAY? So we sat, waited around 15min before she came to us. She tossed the menus on the table and all she said was, "Move over here to this other table." We told her we wanted coffee and she said oh you have to wait. Then eventually came over with coffee spilling out of the mugs, leaving 1/2 cup on the table. It was just terrible. She really ruined the experience. All the servers seemed so sweet besides her. So sad that she ruined it for us. Crabmeat omelet was great. Won't return though.
This place is the bomb!! The food is great and the staff is HILARIOUS! They basically "put on a show" for free. The bread pudding is the best in the area! The fried chicken has no equal! I 100 percent recommend this place.
OUTSTANDING! Have you walked into a place and you thought you were in a scene of a movie? Character, persona, vive, atmosphere, whatever you want to call it, Lil Dizzy's has it! The staff, was happy, singing, laughing and were super to interact with. The food? Good ol' southern and creole food that will leave you satisfied beyond belief! A++
Definitely hyped!!! We waited 30 minutes before we got a menu, I ordered the crabmeat omelet it was runny sent it back twice third time I got a veggie omelet that was decent. The French toast was pretty good a safe choice. Friends ordered steak that was over cooked and the grilled fish was the best thing there. Nice experience tho and was a convenient location that's about it.
My absolute favorite place to go in New Orleans!! The jambalaya omelette is the best thing I've ever eaten, the grits are so creamy and the chicory coffee is the best around.
Literally drove 7 hours once just to get an omelette because I'd been craving it for months. It's that good!
We waited 45 minutes before being seated, which was fine. But, the food was horrible. I ordered French toast and it was black. I saw when the waitress went to pick it up and told the cook about it being burnt. The cook decided to turn it over to the better looking side, instead of throwing the burnt toast away. The macaroni and cheese was and chicken was good, but the gumbo was made with cheap and not so good tasting sausages. My waitress saw my note that I wrote saying that I would not return after my experience, and told the owner. He didn't even come over to apologize. I will never return to this restaurant.
The waitress we had was Chelsea and she was so nice and friendly ask me what kind of drink I wanted I said something like a orange or Apple juice and she came back with my favorite saying she got me a Apple juice cause it's her favorite it made me smile feeling like she knew what I like she suggested the buffet for us because of all we wanted to try which was very helpful and a plus she came with napkins before I could ask her for some kinda like a mind reader lol but the atmosphere was lovely the food was to die for I talked about it all day to everybody I talked to and now I have a friend who wants to come tomorrow to try the buffet and that fresh strawberry French toast I had omg the gumbo, chicken, shrimp grits I left out happy and stuffed. And left my waitress with a beautiful tip because she deserved it. I just hope Monday has the same buffet as Sunday had cause I'm bringing a friend to see what all the talk about.
Great experience! Great conversation with the staff and patrons! The fried chicken was the business, I had eight pieces lol...(drumsticks); but yes 8!!! I enjoyed the vegetables and the mac & cheese. Just a great experience overall. My girlfriend had the jambalaya omelet which she thought was super good!!!
I also, had the peach cobbler...it didn't disappoint!!! I love this place and being from Ohio....we didn't know what to expect...I'm sold!!!
This is my favorite place in New Orleans. I grew up 4 doors from Eddie's Restaurant in the 7th ward in the 70's and 80's. This is the sequel to Eddie's but better in its own way. Good food, good atmosphere, and good soul. This is the type of restaurant that transcends and attracts people from all around. If you are a local you probably know about this place. If you are visiting, you gotta come and experience the essence and soul of New Orleans at Lil Dizzy located on Esplanade.
Great comfort food and an atmosphere to match. The friend chicken, gumbo, mac & cheese, and bread pudding were all fantastic. Wait staff was friendly and managed to talk a couple of my friends out of ordering a la carte, all of whom were thankful they got the buffet. You're coming for the buffet, don't kid yourself. If you want eggs or traditional breakfast look elsewhere.
I came around lunch time on a Monday. The service was okay-ish to start with. We were shown to our table by an unenthusiastic server. Okay, maybe she's just not excited to be here. When we ordered our food, she pointed to a meagre salad bar. We made our salads and returned to the table. The iceberg lettuce had brown spots and the beets were flavorless. That's still okay though. But when the fried chicken came out, it was very salty and mine had some gristle in it. My friend said his was served at close to room temperature. The mac and cheese was decent actually, as were the fries, but it was still painful to eat, because we were never offered a refill on our drinks. In fact, the server was nowhere to be seen once she'd dropped off the food, until she brought a bill out 25 minutes later. The service was horrible and the food was decent at best, yet very overpriced.
My favorite soul food place in New Orleans. Everything about this spot is great! I think the fried chicken is the best I have ever had. ALWAYS CRISPY AND MOIST!! I love it when they have crawfish soup. Everything about this place is just so freaking good. Almost didn't want to write it a review because I wanna keep it my secret.... but I see that 200 people have already discovered it lol
The menu is limited but people don't come here for a la carte. They come for the buffet. They come for the right reason! Great preparations of New Orleans comfort food. After your fried flounder, mac and cheese, and file gumbo, save room for the bread pudding.
Sunday buffet breakfast was excellent! $18 for a great selection of local cuisine and the service was THE BEST. Perfect for international guests or people wanting to experience the NOLA culture. Go there - you won't be disappointed!!
Neat, quaint place off of the beaten path. Nice walk to get there past old historic homes. We were still partially full from our "breakfast" at Cafe du Mode, so we just ordered a bowl of gumbo with crab. It was very good!! Worth the trip.
No one's a stranger, family atmosphere. Food simply AWESOME! ! ! Everything is delicious, gumbo, beans, catfish, chicken, chops, such a selection of choices. The "BEST Bread Pudding! ! ! Buffet. YES.
Great Home Cooking.
The fried chicken, gumbo was really amazing!! Staff was even better!! That says it all. The k you for the good food and service
Talked with the owner as I walked in. Great Fried Chicken and gumbo on the buffet. The sweat tea was great and atmosphere was really cozy. A recommendation to anyone who comes to the NO.
Amazing place for real soul food. The buffet was like Sunday dinner at grandma's house. Everything was so delicious. It's a small place and can get extremely packed, but once you take the first bite you'll see why.
Had a great time good food great staff. Gumbo and chicken are pretty good. French toast comes with fresh fruit. Four stars because it's a little smoky, come out smelling like you've been cooking yikes!
Food was decent. Service was terrible.... I literally had to walk up with my own glass to ask for a refill after waiting 10 minutes with a empty cup. Server never actually came to our table to say hello or anything. Another lady got our drink order. Owner seemed to visit every table except ours. Said hello to every person except us. This was my 2nd time here. First time the server was better but the owner pretty much did the same thing. Im not saying i need the attention or anything from the owner. I would just like to be acknowledged by at least 1 person when I sit down to eat.
Great local food with a decent buffet option. Very good fried chicken. Very popular with locals. Just outside the traditional French quarter tourist loop. Small space can be crowded. Wait staff definitely local flavor. Good weekend breakfast buffet.
I visited NOLA and fell in love with this place and Mr. Dizzy! The food, service and overall hospitality was amazing!! I really wanted to pack him up a put him in the car, and bring him back to Atlanta with me:) This place was so refreshing,
Excellent family restaurant with good food and friendly staff. Fantastic place to get local New Orleans food. Gumbo is fabulous. French toast is also very good. Made with French bread
Had the buffet chicken mac n cheese gumbo and red beans. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. The owner Dizzy seated us promptly and Chelsea our waitress was very pleasant. Great spot to grab lunch !!!!
Service was not good. Waitress never checked on us brought us our drinks and never seen her again. Staff was not too friendly. I don't believe I will be back because it was overpriced and nothing stood out to me. You guys have to do better .
Accommodated our group of 30 very well, wonderful friendly staff and great comfort food. I'm a little adverse to buffet style, but the food was great. Especially the cornbread! Great fried chicken and gumbo as well. 10/10 would recommend to a friend #hcsb2k18
Delicious food! Great service. Many locals (that's how we found out about it), not a cheap tourist trap with lousy food. Buffet has fried chicken, mac n cheese, bread pudding--about $15--and other menu items looked equally delicious on the tables nearby. Only open for breakfast & lunch. Easy walk to the French Quarter. Must visit if you're in NOLA.
Have the fried chicken! Simple delicious local restaurant. Great if you want to get away from the tourist areas. Your first time, I suggest the buffet so that you get a little bit of everything. Call ahead to see what time the buffet opens. You won't be disappointed!
Nice local new Orleans restaurant that has a southern comfort feel. They do buffets that allow you to try a bunch of the local dishes. I went twice on my trip and was not disappointed.
Mixed review because the food was delicious however the service was ridiculous!!! With a party of 5 we were told the tab could not be divided because they didn't have time to do the leg work. After being talked to in a condescending rude tone we just decided to avoid conflict and pay. Traveling from out of state no one had cash so after scrabbling through our purse and paying. We realize half way to the car that the tab was $65 we gave $80 & only got $8 back in change!!! Returned to question the cashier she did not deny it at all she aggressive open the register and return our full owed amount. Sad Sad Sad! Never AGAIN!!!
This is my favorite "hole in the wall" restaurant to visit when I'm in New Orleans. The wait staff makes you feel like you are at your auntie's or grandma's house and the food tastes like home cooked southern style. The fried chicken is amazing!
This was my second time coming here 2 days in a row, but I must say the second time was very disapppointing. The first time we received great customer service and I appreciated it. The second time my wife and I didn’t leave a tip because we weren’t too pleased with the customer service. One of your waitress approached us as we left asking if there was something wrong with her service and how she saw that the tip section was blank in a rude tone. This is highly unprofessional. However, one of your other waitresses approached her and informed me of some things. I would’ve tipped that woman double the amount I was considering. It kind of hurts that you go out of your way to specifically support black owned businesses on vacation and this is the way you are treated. The food is still great and I wish you all nothing but prosperity.
Great spot for some Cajun/Soul food.. they begged us to come back to the buffet when the fresh fried chicken was ready and even came upto the table with a bowl of it. Tasty, crispy, good sides, and not too expensive. A local joint where police officers and pimps sit side by side.
The food was delicious! The service from the waitress I had was great! The waitress at the table next to me was hilarious! How do I know that? The tables are so close together that you're basically eating with the people next to you. The tables are so small that the couple next to me asked to borrow part of my table. The place is nice though! It's small, but it feels comfy in a good way. I asked for my French toast to come without the toppings on it, but they still put the toppings on it. I didn't send it back because they were quite busy. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend this place.
First off I would just like to say that the food here was pretty good . Their gumbo & seafood jambalaya that they serve was amazing . The only thing that I disliked was the server that we had. She was very un attentive & honestly was just rude . We literally had to have another server come and take care of us because she wasn't tending to our table . I understand that being a server you have to take care of multiples parties at a time but when we went it wasn't busy at all. She walked by us many times and didn't even stop to check on us. Our server then tried to not give us our change back because she assumed that we were leaving her that as a tip which she definitely didn't deserve considering the poor service . Overall the food was good and the staff were nice just try to avoid the server we had if you have the opportunity. I didn't get her name but she was the middle-aged Caucasian lady if that helps .
Awesome food. Obviously a Treme/New Orleans staple. Got to meet the owner- really sweet man. Buffet was good. Not a ton of options however. (Baked or fried chicken, green beans, potatoes, red beans and rice & gumbo. Fruit cocktail bread pudding for dessert- not my favorite. Overall the 15.99 buffet was a bit expensive.
While visiting the Essence Festival my family and I wanted to support a Black Owned Business. So, we decided to give this restaurant a try. When we arrived there was a line outside. I went inside to put my name on the list. As I entered, I witnesssed the owner yelling at customers. I was totally shocked and confused! I still gave him my name and tried to explain that I spoke to an employee, Ms. Lucie last week regarding visiting the restaurant. He replied, “ I DON’T GIVE A DAMN WHO YOU SPOKE TOO; GO OUTSIDE AND CLOSE THE DOOR” No matter how good their food may be, my money is more VALUABLE!!! Damn Lil Dizzy and its owner!
Comfort food that is oh so good. Had a long 40 min wait for a table as this place is small and cozy. Being so popular can mean order issues. Our waitress was very polite, but all our meals for table of 6 came out different times and 1 meal was almost forgotten totally. Overall, we enjoyed this experience. Unique place to dine and experience New Orleans!
Li'l Dizzy is a 'mom & pop' operation but don't let that fool you. It was well run (we were there on a Tuesday @ 11am and it was a full house) and the food was outta this world. My husband & I got the buffet which included the gumbo. I've been on a quest to have gumbo at every place I ate (which was 4 up to that point) and Li'l Dizzy's was the best! We didn't make it to Mother's but we weren't disappointed because Li'l Dizzy's chicken made it okay! The chicken was crispy yet moist and well seasoned. The staff was friendly and efficient. Our experience was excellent. I highly recommend it!
Really disappointed in our experience here. Had several recommendations to this place and also saw it had great reviews. We had a party of six and got seated pretty quickly; however, once we were seated we sat for 25 minutes and did not get drinks or acknowledged by a waiter. We tried to ask for someone but just got ignored. Wasn't super busy and when we told someone working that we hadn't been helped yet, they informed our waitress and she did nothing and stared at us. We left and will never come back.
The food was amazing Both breakfast and lunch portion. It’s a very small, cozy, mom and pop environment but well worth it. The French Toast and Gumbo were my favorite! The only thing I wish could have been different was the temperature, it was hot in there and the steam from the buffet didn’t make it any better. GREAT PLACE, for local food.
A small local restaurant with excellent home cooked food. The buffet price is affordable for everyone both for breakfast and lunch. The staff works hard to serve all customers promptly and they are friendly. The owner runs an efficient operation. I recommend this restaurant to all of my family visiting New Orleans.
Stopped in to Li’l Dizzy’s for lunch on my way to City Park. Oliver from FreeWheelin’ Bike Tours had recommended Li’l Dizzy’s. This restaurant is a local spot where police officers and clergy come in regularly. Dizzy’s has a great friendly atmosphere that makes every guest feel at home. Food was phenomenal. If this is your first visit you have to get the buffet. Get a little bit of everything!
Lord... the Mac and cheese and Bread pudding freaking amazing. Everything else was great too including service. Lil dizzy is the sweetest man walking! He makes everyone feel like their at home!
This place is exceptional! Don't let the exterior fool you. A buffet of delicious home cooked New Orleans classics awaits, like fried chicken, red beans and rice, gumbo and bread pudding! All you can eat! The staff is super friendly and the ice tea is just what you need to wash it all down!! 🔥It's like eating at someone's house, truly comfort food. 💯
Me and my best friend were staying at an AirBnB up the street a decided to give Dizzy's a try and we LOVED it. The lunch buffet is great, there wasn't one thing we didn't enjoy. True NOLA comfort food. It now a staple every time we visit. Also met some wonderful locals there with great advice on where to go & what to do.
Great food, great people, great place. My favorite place right now. Next to Besty's Pancakes house on Canal. Love me some Lil Dizzy's Cafe on the corner of Esplanade Street. The best..💖☕😊☕😃✌️🎄
This was like a meal my momma would cook it was so good, I'd like my grits with a little more salt but I understand why they don't add any... overall it was my first tome here and I loved it. I had grilled fish with cheese grits and scrambled eggs. Those are the house biscuits unlike any biscuit I ever had... amazing!! Thank you.
Love this place! I’ve never seen my introverted husband talks that much with restaurant workers- they are so genuinely nice & sweet! Food is exceptionally great too! - mmmm M c& cheese & fried chicken !!
Absolutely Amazing! The Ladies were wonderful, they make you feel like you are right at home! MISS LUCY WAS MY FAVORITE. We need more people like these ladies in this world, they were so sweet, welcoming and real!!! THE FOOD WAS THE BEST PART, it is so authentic, like your Grandmother made it just for you. AND it was extremely affordable. This is a new must when I am in town.
Staying in an Airbnb nearby and a friendly neighbor recommended Li'l Dizzy's. It was great. The waitress was super friendly and the food was wonderful. Fried chicken and catfish were awesome. Best potato salad; it's like eating deviled eggs. It was a great start to our trip!
The food was great I had there Buffet the food was hot. My first time in Louisiana and it gave me a great experience of their food. The downside to this place is it's to small and if you travel with a group they only take 2 credit cards. It seems this way at every restaurant in New Orleans.
Very 'down home' in that this place would surely not pass any health inspection if there was a surprise visit. However the staff are very personable and it feels like you're in grandma's kitchen. It took forever for our table to get food versus our other party that got the buffet. French toast was burnt, but that fried chicken is something else. Lots of hipsters started to flood the place.
No trip to NOLA is complete without a trip here. Three generation run, southern cooking that will make your eyes roll in the back fo by our head. Sunday buffet is my favourite as you can get the gumbo. Catfish is amazing and don't forget to get the biscuits. The fried chicken is hard to beat and the bread pudding is killer.
Great service, phenomenal food, very comfortable atmosphere. I love coming here on a Sunday morning. Beat the rush becoming before 10
The peach cobbler is AMAZING. The employees are so sweet. You can tell they put a lot of love in their food. The environment is valid too.
The service was amazing. Very family oriented. We enjoyed the buffet of amazing comfort food, blessed greens, friend chicken, butter beans, spaghetti, corn bread and an unforgettable gumbo!
Li'l Dizzy's was the perfect place to take friends who were visiting from Ohio. A true taste of soul and neighborhood history. Wonderful comfortable atmosphere and staff make you feel right at home. You can't make a mistake in choosing from this menu or going for the brunch buffet. I honestly have not had the buffet but have seen some beautiful plates heading back to their tables. My spot on choice for a down home breakfast. Grilled catfish, grits, eggs (anystyle) and biscuit. Perfect! Check it out!
Perfect little place that out shuttle driver recommended. They were very welcoming and the food was delicious! I love supporting local businesses.
Best homemade tartar sauce. Best fried chicken. Catfish cooked perfect. Very..very..VERY SMALL RESTAURANT. I had the buffet..not huge selection but it was worth the price for very awesome home cooking.
Came on a Friday during Jazzfest so it was probably busier than normal, which is understandable that things might be slow, but it was definitely busier than they're capable of handling. The food was mediocre at best and the service was quite bad. Our server was nice and everything but it took about 30 minutes to get an orange juice...and the orange juice is in a bottle, so it's not like they're fresh squeezing it back there. If I ever make it back to New Orleans I'll definitely not be returning to Dizzy's.
It was spectacular!! It's a small diner and busy for good reason. Their fried chicken and baked macaroni and cheese are delicious. The waitstaff are super nice and efficient. It is obviously a place where locals are regulars, but tourists like me are welcomed just as warmly. Go, if only for the fried chicken and atmosphere!!
I’ve eaten a lot of yard bird in my life, but never had it prepared by angels until we ate here. Everybody in there was happy to be there! Service was great, staff appeared happier than the customers! Everything on that buffet was delectable, only problem was that the angels couldn’t cook it as fast as it was being devoured. Can’t wait to go back
Food was pretty good...
Walked in dry a few friends in there eating so was even more comfortable.
Nothing really bad to say about the spot. Seems like a family business that everyone enjoys.
Their soul food Sunday brunch is awesome. Build your own omelettes, banana bread French toast and bread pudding. Awesome fried chicken and gumbo. Mac n cheese is always tasty. Definitely not for light eaters.
This place was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. This place is the businezzzz. The food is absolutely delicious. The fried chicken is hands down the best I've eaten to date. Had the Sunday Brunch and everything on the buffet was delicious. The staff and service are excellent. I will be coming back my next visit. I highly recommend this place
Delicious breakfast and lively service... just enjoyable. Have to return for the buffet to taste their gumbo....
This was my first visit so I wasn't sure what to expect. I saw it reviewed on YouTube so I decided to stop in. I give two stars. One for the owner. He is a very sweet man and he does his best to focus on every customer. Also, one for the young lady who actually cooked my omelet. She was extremely nice and I I pop predicated her attitude. The omelet was tasty and I did like their grits. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the other options on the buffet and my waitress was not the best. It was super busy and it was hard to maneuver around people to even get to the buffet. Maybe this was an off day since they were so busy, but I'm not certain if I'll return. However, if you decide to visit I would recommend having cash on hand and also try to visit during the week as opposed to a weekend due to the crowd.
This was my first visit to New Orleans. This was my first visit to Li'l Dizzy's. The fried chicken, Mac & cheese, and red beans & rice was the best I've ever had. I made it a point to get some food before I caught my flight. I had fried chicken and grits. The food was Awesome! I can't wait to come back this restaurant will be my first stop.
I did not like the food. It costs 18 dollars to get the buffet and the food is mediocre at best. I am from Houston and the food is 100 times better there. Do not go! While you are eating, a waitress might swing by, smoking a cigarette, and tell you to leave to clear the table because the restaurant is going to close in 2.5 hours... funny...
Li'l Dizzy's Cafe is a great mom and pop like Cafe which feels very down home. The safe churns out and serves a great breakfast with a smile. I will definitely be making a return trip sometime this year.
They are known for their buffet, and for good reason. Every single item on the buffet was great. The buffet also includes made to order omelettes and french toast. I had the jambalaya omelette and it was outstanding. The ribs, fried chicken, and mac and cheese were also great. You are treated like family.
You know you are in a good place when the customers walk in and say hello to the staff by name. Friendliest staff around who take pride in their food. And rightfully so it's delicious. Try a biscuit and anything else cause it's all good. I would definitely come back
I totally loved it. They treated us with professionalism. It was like meeting family. They made you feel right at home, it seems. I encourage all to go and eat during there stay in New Orleans. And the food was out of this world. Everything seasoned to the taste, especially the bread pudding. Wonderful food and hospitality!!!!!
