How would you rate Buttermilk Drop Bakery & Cafe?
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! These donuts are DELICIOUS! I wish I had discovered them sooner! They're best when they're fresh, super soft and hot. Even if they're not right out of the fryer they are completely sinfully delicious-and it feels great! Lord forgive me!
Def a New Orleans must have!
When I first tasted their donuts, it brought be back to what donuts used to taste like when I was a kid, before people started getting dry, cake-y donuts from their local supermarkets. Rich, dense, chewy fried dough is at the heart of all their sublime creations..
Oh, you said your local donut place skimps on the filling? Not here - the bavarian cream-filled donut here is pumped so full of cream it's almost bursting at the seams. And although I've never been a big jelly donut guy, I now realize it's because I never had one here: dense, chewy and glazed with ample filling of rich, thick raspberries. I could go on, but you get it.
This is the only game in town. When you're tired of fooling around and ready to get serious about some big-boy donuts, the Buttermilk Drop is waiting to welcome you home.
Only buttermilk drops that exceed the iconic McKenzie's version. Words cannot capture the joy and wonder. It has to be experienced.
My review is based solely on the taste of the butter milk drops and the service. The Buttermilk are absolutely sinful! I brought a dozen to my cousins in Oakland last week and they were wild for them too. My mom loves them. The service when I go there is great friendly and courteous.
The buttermilk drops were so delicious and moist on the inside.. yummy! Definitely going back.
Breakfast plate and an order of dounuts can feel a car full after a good rave
Breakfast rice & Buttermilk Drop Donuts! Yummy!
Breakfast was quick and easy. I enjoyed the hash browns and shrimp. They do not have any hot sauce so if you want some bring your own.
All i had was an apple fritter but it was the best apple fritter i have had in NOLA
Bag some donut holes. Get here in the early AM to literally have them melt your tongue to sugary nirvana
Definitely a place where the locals go. The portion sizes were huge. Everything was delicious. But there wasn't much seating, only 2 tables.
Good donuts and a great breakfast /brunch menu
Mmmmm festival fresh
I really enjoy there breakfast plates and donuts. Especially there shrimp and grits. Although my favorite is the hash brown plate. It's just melt in your mouth. On top of that there prices are reasonable. There service is fast. You will be in and out!!
YES. Just go here. If you have even a little bit of a sweet tooth you won't be disappointed. I had two of the red velvet and two original buttermilk drops, and I loved them. For some reason they are just perfect.
Love!! Love!! Love!! There isn't anything that I tried that was not AWESOME!! Everything is fresh and the staff are super awesome. Those buttermilk drops will having you singing
Great breakfast food. Very filling. Donuts are great!
Delicious, cheap desserts and doughnuts. They also serve dirt cheap breakfast while it last.
I love their breakfast and my kid's love their donuts.
Love the buttermilk drops.
I couldn't give this more stars but I would. The buttermilk drops are AMAZING. It's off the usual touristy track but absolutely worth it! They're fluffy and not dry at all even though they're fried. Trade in those hit-and-miss beignets in the french quarter for these homey delicious morsels.
They have daily specials for breakfasts too! The french toast is very tasty.
The service is A 1 didn't have to wait long at all. Just found out about Buttermilk Drop Bakery & Cafe yesterday. That's my new favorite spot now the shrimp &hash brown is exclusive loving it
Bit of a wait sometimes but well worth it. Everything I've eaten so far has been good!
Amazing drops and donuts. But their breakfast rice is one of my favourite things in New Orleans, don't forget the hot sauce too.
This morning's experience was horrible. I have visited many times before and service wonderful but today was the worst. Piss poor service and absolutely no customer service skills and major attitude. I aim to support black owned businesses but why when the staff makes you feel like they're doing you a favor to spend your money. Never a compliant about the food and its quality... Excellent as always... Not saying I will never return but definitely taking a hiatus
I love the buttermilk drops & apple fritters! I've been meaning to try one of their breakfast specials next time I go, they look really good & are really reasonably priced.
If you haven't stopped here for breakfast... You just haven't had breakfast. Also... Ypuremot buying donuts here, you're gettimg fantasy edible clouds
This place is great. Everything I got here is awesome. I highly recommend this place.
Beat buttermilk drops in the city also the breakfast plates with rice or hash browns are very good and filling as well.
I went there to buy my neighbors some cinnamon rolls. As I looked at the pastry case, I noticed two roaches crawling on the pastries that I wanted to purchase. I left. I never returned.
The food is good at times but the grits be watery must times they need to try oatmeal also other than that the food is good just work on the staff an their attitude customer's service is a must PLEASE
If you are looking for great hot breakfast food that will fill you up at a fair price, this is the place. The Buttermilk Drop is an institution and serves up the highest quality drops I've had in the city. This store will whip up a serious and hearty breakfast sandwich in no time...the wait is slight, and the product is solid.
This place has some of the best buttermilk donuts I have ever had! They call them buttermilk drops. They also serve breakfast!
Just delish. and last Saturday I arrived before close but they were closed and locked but owner saw me, went to back, found me a dozen!! So nice. And the drops are da bomb!!
The cashier looked as if she had just rolled out of bed. When I asked to see the size of the containers she made an exaggerated attempt to make a small square with her hands. Another employee had to intervene, and held up the containers so that I could see the sizes. The cashier acted as if she couldn't hear after I repeated my order 1000 times she still got it wrong. The only reason the two stars were given is because of the size of the shrimp which were in my lumpy gritty grits.
Wife and I find this gem years ago and ago buy every time we drive to/through new Orleans. This is the absolute best donut you can get anywhere.
Visiting New Orleans and found this gem. The staff is great and the donuts are to notch. Thank you for the great service.
The buttermilk drops are amazing. The breakfast offerings are so good. The hashbrown bowl with bacon and cheese....mmmmmm... it can get busy but that's part of the fun. Watching the interactions.
Delicious sugar rush..Good customer service. Nice variety of meal choices.
This Establishment is by far one of the best places to visit and to get all your bakery needs. I was fanbugastic by the variety of what they had to offer. I ordered the breakfast rice as my main dish with eggs on the side and the tasteful hash browns that melted inside my mouth. Food was "Hot" and "Fresh" as I like it to be! There was two checkout windows which was getting customer in and out in a timely manner! Ms. Dionne helped me with my order and explained to me in detail the menu and I asked her what would she recommend to me that would be cheaper to get, and she was happy to give me her opinion and it was "Great".Ms. Dionne was honest and caring and I respected that! The staff members at this location was very friendly and professional with a "Smile", and I really appreciated that alot. So if your every in this neck of the wood, I highly recommend this establishment to new comers and family and friends! Come on in and see what the fuss is all about!
Great place to get breakfast and donuts. Had the Shrimp and Grits with a biscuit. I live out of town and had to get the buttermilk drop donuts and an Apple Fritter. All was delicious but get there early.
Neighborhood is a little sketchy, but the food is awesome! Had a sausage egg and cheese biscuit, where the biscuit was really light and fluffy.
Buttermilk donuts bring me back to my childhood at McKenzie's bakery.
Great place- the neighborhood is more like where I grew up in the East Bay so don't expect a Wholefoods on the corner.
Fast service multiple people working to help keep wait times down food was fresh and hot
Their buttermilk drops always hit the spot! I also like their breakfast fried rice its tasty and filling. I wish it was optional to add eggs to it instead of it already being mixed into it and it would be perfect!
Every time I visit New Orleans I come here and get the tastiest food. This is my soul food breakfast spot!
AMAZING service! I went during the last hours and the donuts/buttermilk drops were perfect
The Best I Love to Support My Own!! Love them!!! All Good Vibes!!! They wake up so early with great morning attitudes saluted to this wonderful place the red velvet donuts holes are A1!
Service was fast.
Breakfast plate was delicious.
Donuts was incredible.
Keep up the good work.
The service is ALWAYS excellent. Continued success and grateful appreciation. Mr. Randy ( St. Leo)
The owner is a con artist. He was located on Decatur & had a location in the RiverWalk Outlet Mall (Wink's bakery both closed down), where he con his employees out of their wages. If you support this business, you're supporting a thief who take advantage of hardworking middle class Americans! I AM positive he'll be back at his conniving ways soon. Pay attention. Why are you closing down stores & opening up new locations? (Changing the businesses names over and over again) Why? (Bankruptcy) Beware and do your research. He's rotten to the core, but what you reap you will sow!
Seafood omelette is the best. The French toast was also delicious. But the buttermilk drops are the best dessert in New Orleans, skip the beignets and run to get a Buttermilk drop so sweet and soft.
Delicious donuts! They also have really great breakfast food. Gold star!
My husband and I stopped here and OH MY. He got the pork chop special, I got a steak, egg and cheese biscuit- both were SO GOOD and very filling. The biscuits are excellent. We also got two apple fritters, because they looked too good. They tasted even better than they looked. I would recommend this place up and down. Everyone who worked there had a smiling face and seemed very sweet. One of the most authentic tasting things we ate in New Orleans during our stay. Thank you!
I visited New Orleans for the first time, for a work conference, so I was unfamiliar of the food options available. I ordered from Buttermilk Drop Bakery via Uber Eats and it was so delicious! I got the raisin square (fantastic) and the Seafood Hash Bowl (it might be too much cheese for some, but the seafood and potatoes were amazing).
Very good bakery, as welll as GREAT BREAKFAST. ANY THING U WANT. GOOD PRICES. GOOD FOOD. PLEASANT WORKERS.
We stumbled across this place in looking for breakfast spots near where we were staying for the week. We were in town for 5 days and 3 of them were spent getting breakfast from Buttermilk Drop. The people who tell you that you must try the beignets in town, just haven't had a buttermilk drop yet. Beignets don't even compare!
I just ran across this place and oh my God the food is ready good and the service from the staff was professional. This is not just your ordinary bakery. If you're ever in the area you have to stop by this place for some great stuff.
The best black Owen bakery shop in new Orleans (I stop there for donuts every Sunday after church)
Good donuts and breakfast too. Enjoy the fancy 🍩 donuts. A little wait but if you want something good you will wait.
If you looking for nice sit down, keep moving. Food is good. No restrooms. Good donuts.
Good spot. It's a no frills donut shop, but the breakfast food is really good and the prices are unbeatable. It may look a little rough, but the people here are friendly. You might just want to order to go.
Great food especially the biscuits! Down home place with mostly local customers, no fancy atmosphere. You MUST try the donut holes👌👌👌
Don't be afraid of the rough dude standing outside asking for change. He's harmless.
The buttermilk drops are awesome! Super moist and delicate. Only 80...read this and 140 more
