How would you rate Boswell’s Jamaican Grill?
It is authentic Jamaican food and it's delicious!! My husband is Caribbean and I lived with him in Caribbean 3 years so I think he/I have a pretty good idea what authentic Caribbean/Jamaican should taste like.
I got the jerk chicken po-boy with fries carryout. Took about 15 minutes, but it was THE BOMB! The price was not bad for the amount of food I got. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some great food at a really good price. Also they do have a buffet which looked really good.
Tried the buffet...I am hooked. The chicken is always good and HOT!
Food was amazing! We came at closingtime but they let us in. Dinner was served bij Robert Paul, beautiful guy from Jamaica. Thxs Robert. Greetings the Dutch fellows
Not authentic Jamaican food. They're out of peas and rice and beef patties! Really???? :-( will not eat here ever again!!!!
First timer, had a wonderful experience, food was good, people warm and welcoming. tried the buffet and I'm glad i live close by
Curry chicken is great ! Buffet is good !! Happy that there is a good Jamaican spot around .
Mr Parkins is my guy love the restaurant
Fantastic and authentic Caribbean food. I highly recommend the jerk chicken and beef patty.
I love the food, I keep going back but we need one on the westbank asap
Always and absolutely worth any inconvenience. The stewed chicken is incredible. Look for their booth at festivals.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE! I WILL BE A FOREVER CUSTOMER! GREAT FOOD! GREAT ATMOSPHERE!
First of all the person who I made the order with over the phone was rude as hell!!! I was Home sick n craving some Jamaican food. I didn't like the jerk chicken it tasted like it was done from over night. I don't think I will be going back
Unassuming restaurant with hearty Jamaican fare and friendly staff
delicious! I had a spicy beef patty and a chicken leg quarter. everything was spicy and flavorful. I'll definitely be going back.
Always been the best spot for Caribbean food in New Orleans always hit up Mr Boswell since the early 2000, love his food, closest taste to the islands.
Just had the goat curry and plantains. Both are fantastic. Can't wait to take my brother who loves jerk chicken.
Great food come hungry leave happy, they never disappoint!!!
B O M B authentic cuisine. A very relaxed atmosphere. If you're in a hurry, I'd recommend calling ahead. Can't wait to go back
Flew in from S.C. and had a taste for some curry. Im not familiar with the area at all so I googled Jamaican restaurants near me. And there's a reason why Boswell's is the First restaurant that pop's up.. You will not be disappointed great food better customer service.
It's Like Being Back In Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Wi
Irie Mon😂 One Love😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I highly recommend for authentic jerk meats... Sides are tasty as well... Have a Ting with your meal, a grapefruit infused cola straight from the island itself...
Service isn't great, but the food is more than worth it. A must eat.
Best place I have ever eaten. Amazing food. Comfortable environment. Super friendly staff. I'm from out of state and I wish I could go to Boswell's every day! I cannot wait to return.
Well I had the goat rita. I didn't know they don't pull the bones out. Also my stomach was "upset" all night and into the next day with a lot of trips to the restroom. I refused to eat my leftovers after that. My girlfriend had the chicken rita and she got tired of picking bones out of her mouth but was not sick. Someone got the shrimp rita because there are no bones. The meat pies are frozen and you can get better ones from walmart. The red stripe beer was about the only thing I enjoyed.
Took my wife (an American) to this restaurant and she loved it!! She usually has to get a take out box when we eat out but damn she cleaned the plate!! A++ on the food there....
The service is always good and the atmosphere of very inviting. From sit down to pickups, the lunch buffet and patties. Boswell's is hands down still the best Jamaican restaurant in NOLA despite the appearance of others in the past year or so
Excellent Jamaican food definitely recommend eating here
Really great service! I recommend this place to anyone who wants "real" Jamaican food. I was really impressed with their wide menu options and the serving is a lot too. Great job guys!!!👍👍👍👍👍
I had the chicken roti & it was AMAZING. It made me call out the Lord's name & I've been an atheist for about 10 years 😂
All I can say is...YUM! Very Jamaican atmosphere and very tasty Jamaican food.
That jerked chicken poboy had me picking the lettuce up and eating it, if it had the juice from the chicken on it!
Some good stuff... worth trying
Jamaican patties were awesome we order 12 to go and they were nice hot and fresh and the jerk chicken was great the best I've had in a long time will definitely be heading there again!!!!
Place was fantastic, the staff was friendly and the food was phenomenal! Defiantly recommending to visitors.
I love this place!!! You know your getting great food when it takes time.
The owner is lovely. Sells Jamaican cooked food and also items 2 eat and cook as well meaning like buns, noodles etc
Walked in and everyone just looked at us. Had to walk to bar before anyone finally said hello. Was told to sit anywhere. Waitress never came to our table. Another couple came in 15 to 20 minutes after we sat down and the waitress went to them first.
I love me some Jamaican food. Has a nice carribean flair and an awesome staff. Hidden gem for sure! Try the oxtails, fall off the bone delicious.
Food was ok, the reason for 3 stars is service. This was by far the worse customer experience I have had in a restaurant. I felt like I was agitating the older gentleman behind the counter by asking questions [my 1st time having Jamaican food] this alone left a bad taste in my mouth. I won't ever eat there again.
Love this place. Really good Caribbean food, good prices, great service.
Went twice ordered and paid online through eat24 app. Food was hot and better than what I expected. Enjoyed the oxtails and peas with macaroni and cheese. It took about 5 minutes on the wait time the first time and 10 the second time.
5 stars because not everything on the buffet is amazing but the things that are good are some of the best things I have ever eaten. My favorite lunch spot. Don't even wait putting the hack fish on your plate just load up with everything else and lots of mac and cheese. soo good.
It was my first time there and eating Jamaican good. Service was great and food was delicious
Boswell's Jamaican Resturant is an excellent place to eat. This was my 2nd time eating there and the food is so good.
Jamaican jerk po boy was amazing, also not too spicy. And the shrimp po boy might have even been better. Bread pudding was ok but large, and service was a little disappointing (we almost felt like they didn't want us there), but the food made up for it
This place DID NOT disappoint! Savory dishes at phenomenal prices. Boswell's is authentic and homey.
Amazing food, great price, super friendly staff. This is a must go to place if you want incredible Jamaican food!
Had the jerk chicken plate. It's spicy and delicious but the mac & cheese was very bland. I probably would go there again for that jerk chicken and try something else
I love there buffet, but what's best is when you order from the menu, the food is good and the presentation is great. The restrooms can use work, but it's clean. In the last month I been there 3 to 4 times only one time the food didn't meet my expectations. However, overall great place
Flavorful lunch buffet for $10.95 includes curry and jerk chicken, beans and rice, macaroni and cheese, white rice, salad, fresh fruit, and other favorites.
The restaurant is has a tropical decor, is bright and clean and the service is attentive without being intrusive.
If you're craving Jamaican, accept no substitutes. Love the jerk combo with callaloo. Can never help getting at least one beef patty (I don't care if they're not homemade, they're delicious). Lunch buffet is small but you'll leave happy. Atmosphere is a little sparse but the food makes up for it.
The food was okay. I was disappointed with the dish because jerk chicken is supposed to be seasoned and have jerk sauce. The side dish macaroni pie was not good at all. The only thing that was good was the sauteed veggies. The staff were not attentive and accommodating to the customer needs.
The food is absolutely delicious and is very reasonably priced. If you go, for sure you MUST try the Jerked chicken with the cabbage and greens. The greens melt in your mouth! Very impressed by how good the food is...
The food is the delicious the service is wonderful and the people that are there, to wait on you they are always always beautiful always happy always smiling and that's what make this place so wonderful ,like we say nola it's off the chain😁
Food is off the chain friendly people wonderful place to visit absolutely love the hold fish & pretty much all of there items every time I go I try something new off the menu clean & neat restaurant
It's good authentic Jamaican food with a buffet Mon- Friday from 12-3. The food varies by the day.a great place to go authentic roti and jerk chicken
The food here is always good. It takes like 15 minutes or so from the time you order for you to receive your food, which isn't bad at all. Staff could be a friendlier though.
Absolutely horrible experience. Service is basically non-existent. Waited an hour for food, then another 40 mins to bring check. No one refilled water glasses. Food was average for a Jamaican joint. Good oxtail, but nowhere near good enough to make up for the rest of the experience.
"Waitress"(If that's what u want to call her)was EXTREMELY RUDE! No customer service skills what so ever. Service was really slow. And food was just OK. Watched 2 other customers walk out because of her. Will never revisit.
Best Jamaican food I've had since visiting Kingston, Jamaica. Jerk chicken was moist and tender and even the rice and peas were flavorful. Service was not a problem; we went for an early dinner so we beat the rush.
Superb. Parking is tough. Bread pudding was awesome. Everything well worth a taste! Even a buffet
I hope you like spicy but it’s the good kind of spicy. I enjoyed the food, but it takes a little bit to get to you. Nonetheless I found it to be a very enjoyable meal, I would recommend this place to anyone.
Good food , nice ambience. We had the curry chicken and mac and cheese with rice. And, the oxtails with rice and peas. Although the service was a little slow the food came out hot. I did try the bread pudding. Didnt like it so much it was burnt on the top and dry.
I've visited this establishment for the last 3 years every time I visit new Orleans. Quaint little spot with good food. I would recommend this establishment to anyone in the area .
This food was really good. Also they cook to order your food is always fresh and hot.
Had The Stew chicken and Steamed veggies. It was delicious!!! The wait was a bit long because the food is fresh and cooked as you order it. The staff was welcoming and I will definitely be going back soon.
The curry goat was delicious. I would recommend that you eat at Boswell's
Always terrific! There is literally no way you can go wrong with any of the menu. All you can eat buffet for lunch has plenty of choices. Some of the best Jamaican food in the city!
Awesome food and service. I had the curried chicken, the callaloo (greens) Mac and cheese. Everything was very very good! I will return, soon. I loved even the way the food was prepared on the plate.😁
Best jamaican restaurant in the entire city. Authentic. Nothing comes out of a box. Everything here is homemade. Get a meat pie, you will go back just for that.
Terrible customer service..
For yours you get a glass of ice in a 16.9 ounce soda no refills. Oxtails was kind of sweet , not what I use to...
The jerk chicken is dry with no flavor.. Tasted like just plain grilled chicken.. The jerk chicken salad is even more worse.. Just a plate of lettuce topped grilled chicken... The jerk chicken doesn’t have jerk sauce...
But the manager was kind enough to not charge me in my company for one of the ox tail plates... In also apologized for the poor customer service.. I wouldn’t recommend it.
It was my first time coming here. I had steamed fish with rice n peas with veggies. The food gave me life. It was so good. I think the speed of service can be better though, perhaps I was very hungry and time seemed to freeze.
Outstanding food was delicious staff was courteous and inviting. First time going there I will definitely go there again. Another hidden jewel in the City of New Orleans check it out ! :-)
Ordered from Grubhub. Food came a lot faster than expected. Piping hot and extra delicious. Despite the reviews, I was still pleasantly shocked on how good the food is and how much was on the plate. So much so, I can have the rest for dinner since I got finish it for lunch.
Also, I generally don't like plantains but I loved the ones I got with my lunch. It's made me contemplate if I ever had plantains cooked properly or if theirs were really that good.
It was amazing food with amazing hospitality. I was given information about their lunch buffet and will definitely be back
Awesome Food, Quick Service, & Great Atmosphere!
Boswell is absolutely my favorite in NOLA. The food is delicious. The service is fast, and the environment is friendly. The Jamaican dishes are very savory. Also, the portions are great for the price. Absolutely Amazing Restaurant!
Fast, friendly and the food is incredible. Best meal out I’ve had in a long time. The jerk chicken and the curried goat are off the hook, gonna try the oxtail next time I’m in. If you like spice and char, you won’t be disappointed.
Stopped in for the lunch buffet and loved it! The price is reasonable and the food is all delicious. The yellow chicken dish (curry?) was my favorite, and I tried peanut punch for the first time (new favorite).
The food was excellent. The staff was courteous. If i could give it 10 stars i would.......I might like jamaican food too much.
Absolutely disappointing restaurant experience. A friend recommended this place and I drove in from Dallas to New Orleans to dine. Firstly, I walked in an elderly man just barked orders to go find a place to sit. I walked pass a waitress who never even acknowledged me nor ask any questions as to The menu not to even mention ordering food. I sat for 20 mins and another couple walked up. 5 mins after, same couple asked how long I had been sitting and she went to speak to the initial elderly man. Said man had the audacity to ask me if I had ordered; when 30 mins earlier, he asked me to go sit. The same waitress was busy gallivanting around the restaurant without even still acknowledging the presence. Finally, I just had to walk out and just as I came in without anyone caring. If there was a no-star option, I would have given them that.
Awesome food. Good folks. Great choices on the drink menu. From Spanish moss to peanut punch ect.
As for the people saying they are rude and that they took too long.. would honestly be worried if I walked in a Jamaican restaurant and they were super nice and immediately attentive. It's the same with how long the food takes. You must have never been to Jamaica! LOL
I had the Escoveich Fish and it was good. Waitress was Jamaican if that counts. If you want it fast call and order when you head that way
Wales in this place and the elder man took our orders. He wasn't friendly at all. I ordered the oxtails dinner and my husband order the curries goat. My oxtails weren't oxtails. Oxtails bones are round, these bones were like neckbones. My husband goat had so many bones in it, I actually really hes over and got an oxtail off his plate. Was very very disappointed in the meal as well as the service. I will never, ever patronize this establishment again. It needs a no star button.
You can tell they make the food with love, care, and compassion! Food is great, Environment is delightful! Wish they had a location in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Amazing food, Five-star customer service, and great atmosphere. I Highly recommend this place!
Excellent food and service, as usual. Oxtails were finger licking good.
My first time here. Absolutely delicious! I had the curried chicken with rice and beans and plantains. My lunch mate had the stewed chicken. I had a taste of her dish. Also delightful. So much more I wish to return to taste, especially the goat and oxtails. The roti was so delicious.
The food here is unreal. I ordered off of UberEats because I wanted to try something different and it was honestly the best food decision I've made in I don't know how long. Cant recommend enough.
You have to know how to "do" Bozwell's to really enjoy it. Go for lunch. Have the buffet. Seat yourself, and wait for your drink.
Food is outstanding ,very good. I recommend anyone to go there.
Decent atmosphere. I went about 6:30 & they closed for 8, so my food wasn't fresh it actually was a tad cold. The waiter seemed nice but after orders were taken and drinks were served he didn't come back to check on us. We actually refilled the drinks ourselves.
All in all it wasn't a terrible experience, it could've been better. I'd be willing to go back and give it another try.
Good food. I wouldn't say amazing, but it's solid. Jerk chicken-pork. Curry goat. Ox tail. Plantains.
Buffet is pretty cool -- only lunch though. If you need a party tray, make sure you call ahead of time (hours if not the previous day). I would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a different flavor profile in a city that is inundated with fried seafood and poboys.
Its not the best Jamaian food that I have tasted. However, the beef patties are really good. Also, its a belly full for the money. They have a fantastic lunch buffet that opens at 11 am. I say its fantastic because you can pile your plate up or to go container for $ 9.99
Wait was entirely to long for food, food was room temp, and the waiter never came and checked on us. Food itself was decent but nothing to brag about. If they can fix their ability deal with large parties will be willing to work give more stars
This site is my number one site. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this place. Whenever I feel like having a good lunchon, this restaurant comes first to my head. exeptionalgorgeous and food and a large list of dishes.generous team, and nice spirit. Also, the price is decent. I suggest this place with no hesitation.
They cannot cook good curry or roti worst curry or roti I have ever had ,the wait is too long and the wait staff is very un professional
Definitely NOT The Best Jamaican Food I’ve Ever Tasted Which Is Quite Disappointing Because I Finally Found A Black Owned Jamaican Spot In My City 😩 The Mac & Cheese Noodles Were Overcooked & We Had To Pour Own Own Jerk Chicken On Our Chicken . Overall The Chicken Was Good w. or w.o The Sauce . I Also Had The Greens 😋😋😋😋😋 But Hopefully My Next Visit Is Better .
I went for lunch last week with a group of work peeps. Only 1 of us opted for the lunch buffet which was very meaty, if that's your thing. The rest of us...read this and 123 more
