How would you rate Natural Uhuru?
I had an awesome experience at this salon. Everything from the consultation to the finish product was quick, easy, and seamless. My stylist was very knowledgeable about natural hair and even offered tips on how to maintain, nourish and even tame it. The reason why I couldn't give them 5 stars is because of how tight my hair was.....it lasted for 3 weeks before easing up. My style was beautiful but my scalp paid for it. Next time when I visit (and I will visit soon!) I'll let the same stylist know. Definitely recommend : )
Great atmosphere and staff..Demi is awesome..wish I would have found this place soooner
I love it.
Great find. I was searching high and low for a down to earth shop with awesome stylist. So glad i gave this place my business. 😁
My appointment was with Anthony and he was an absolute professional. Made the mistake of going to Super cuts before this and they absolutely ruined my hair. Anthony was easy to talk to and definitely knows what he's doing, he also has a great insight on what would look good on you. I would definitely recommend going with what he says because I am more than happy with my haircut! The money is definitely worth it.
Lovely. Give them a try.
I only come here because of my stylist.
My son has been getting his hair cut here for a couple of years. Very clean and modern establishment. Parking isn't the best, but who cares.
If your desire is healthy hair growth, am elegant atmosphere, professionalism and really good conversation, I'd recommend Uhuru Salon. This place is awesome!!!!
Love it when you have a Professional doing hair!
Great place to start locks and continue
I wouldn't go back. They were arguing with customers and complained about my hair being too long for the price THEY quoted. It was a bad experience.
If you want it done right then you need to be where they live it. From the Original group of Natural Hair Stylist in the Lou! Come check out Erica and Idara Ill Skillz"
Always professional, courteous and friendly. Love the inviting environment of the salon.
Kelly is my boo! Love her to pieces. She always gets me right. She listens to me and my hair rather than trying to fit me in some kind of trendy box. The shop itself has a very cool vibe. It always smells good.
Loc & color work is outstanding
I have been coming here for a year and a half. I won't let anyone else touch my hair. Erica is the ultimate professional and she's a master at her craft. I really like the inviting atmosphere of the salon. I only have positive things to say! I'm extremely tender headed but Erica's styles don't hurt. I love my locs and Uhuru is a very important part of my loc journey
This place is a rare gem! They have licensed cosmetologist who braid and actually care about the health of your hair. Who knew that actually existed?
Anyways, I walked in to the smell of sage and natural products with warm greetings from ALL the stylists. The shampoo woman was so sweet and literally provided me with the best head massage I’ve had in awhile!
After shampooing, I was offered mimosa and donuts, of course I accepted. Then I was walked to the dryer while the shampoo lady (sorry didn’t catch her name) held my purse while I stuffed my face with donuts and mimosa, haha.
Finally, Idarra the stylist, is a loc hero! She uses quality, organic products that she makes at home and it smells immaculate! I just started my journey and I came in looking for guidance and a better loc look. She was able to provide me with quality service and all the education I need to maintenance my hair. She is a lil more expensive than the avg $50-$55 but I promise you it’s worth every penny! Trust, I’m the cheapest person in life but I definitely paid the price and tipped. Thanks ladies for the lasting first impression, you all are amazing!
Great customer service, very skilled with their styles. Comfortable environment & well educated at what they do, I luv this place.
Idara my stylist....love her😘✌
Ms.Erica is my beautician N she is amazing great atmosphere N everyone is so positive👍
I'm sure Uhuru does some really great work, BUT I reiterate don't go there if your hair is long and thick, they will be pissed!!!!
Erica did a great job on my starter locs. She was attentive to my needs. Atmosphere of the shop was also lovely.
Erica is the best and very knowledgeable about her work. She's confident as well which comforts her customers and keeps them coming back.
Great service. Even better people.
Love my style definitely will be coming back.
This place is amazing full of talented supportive people. You can often buy things from vendors when they come by. You can also purchase many of the things used in your hair if you like. Best of all the African garments for sale.
I recommend this place to anyone that wants people to care about your hair as much as you do , Erica and her staff certainly love what they do and they're all about healthy flourishing hair
The stylist that I went to was very impatient with detangling my long kinky hair. It was a painful process. She didn’t section my hair. We went straight to the sink and she just went to ripping my hair out. I know my hair is kinky and long but trying to repeatedly go through it with your fine tooth comb just shows I’m not the type of client for your practices. I left so much hair in the sink and on that floor it was disheartening. She fought my hair the entire time and I couldn’t wait for the process to be over. I’m sure she was glad to see my hair leave the shop too.
I had a great experience at the shop my name is Nina and I had a great experience with Miss adara she fix my hair because it was looking bad but did she had a looking like I just got it done and I think you should go there because if you do go there they can give you a hot oil treatment if your hair is really dry so make sure you go there and it's not that expensive
I see all these good reviews about loc care and dread designs so I decided to call and try and get in, but no answer I’ve called 3 days straight and all it does is ring. So not sure if people just show up at the shop to make appointments or the reviews is super old. Well I didn’t get to experience how good the shop may be or not....
I told the person that did my hair I wanted only my roots retwisted she end up palm rolling the whole thing. I'm semi free form. They don't listen and think they know what's best for your hair.
I absolutely love is place! Have been going there for over 2 years and who won't let anyone else touch my hair! I also won't use anyone else's products. Idara has been doing my hair for a couple of years. After years of sew in's and micro braids my hair was a hot mess when I started going there. After our consultation she gave me advice on how to best care for my hair and between my appointments and I now have a healthy head full of locs!
Went in as a walk in love the environment I was seen by Erica she helped me tremendously with a very bad hair situation I have a lot of hair lost and yet she was able to style my hair ..two thumbs up.
"Ill" charged my husband 80$ for a wash and retwist. He offered the last time he visited he was only charged 35$. Ill's response was that'd it'd never been that - then proceeded to ask the owner, Erica, how much said price was the last time he'd visited. Erica replied that it was indeed 35$. Ill then said well its 2019 (whatever that has to do with an almost 50$ increase) and reiterated her price. Long story short after each being customers for over 10years we will no longer return. Back when Uhuru opened they were the 1st amongst very little doing natural, black, healthy hair. Ill is totally right it is 2019 and it's too many queens out here slaying natural styles. What makes its so bad is no matter what the service is my hubby and I always tip (very) well...but why play a loyal customer?
I had my locs retwisted. Kelly is my natural hair stylists.
This is the spot for all natural hair in St. Louis. In business for over ten years, which is a feat for salons, these ladies and gentlemen are in control....read this and 9 more
