As a blackman in America and walking into a black owned bank was ; I was completely excited the wholeday until I showed up. The officers and the manager had know idea about standard banking practices and regulations of banking. Their clients looked old and confused.


Just opened an online account... experience was awesome. Opening the account was swift and easy. Representative was superb. I would recommend this bank to everyone.

I had a great experience. There was a wait, which I expected because of the bank black movement. The process to set up the account was quick. I encourage everyone to bank black.


I love the respect. The staff are great. Such a wonderful experience.


I love OneUnited Bank! I love that the bankers & tellers know my name (because its a community bank), I love their customer service & friendly attitudes, my whole family banks at OneUnited and I recommend them to everyone I know.


Customer service is spot on. The only issue I have with the bank is that if you don't keep over a minimum amount of $500 in your checking account, you will receive a $8 monthly fee. For the savings the monthly fee is $100. Soooo, I suggest maintaining sufficient funds in your account at all times. Other than that, experience has been AWESOME!.


What else do you expect with black people? They don't have the brains to handle your money. There will be mistakes.

just opened a savings account, checking and business accounts next. I hope they have a private client account also.


This is by far the worst bank ever. They do not notate your account when you call in. Nobody is on the same page. I called over five times regarding an issue that I am having, spoke with five different people and each person gave me a different answer. The supervisor is nowhere to be found. Was promised twice that I would get a returned call and that someone would reach out to a department that was based out of California and follow up with me, that still has not happened. I am thinking about taking my business elsewhere. The reps that answers the phone are not trained properly. I actually had to explain what something meant on my own account. They need to hire workers with banking experience. Their policy says one thing and then they turn around and do something totally different and then read the policy to you. I called today to speak with a supervisor and once again, they were not at their desk. This last rep promised to call me back after 1. So we will see how this goes. If I don't get a call back, I will do another review and go into detail of my experience and list all the names of the reps that I spoke with.


Worst nightmare I've ever had with my banking. With a brand new account, my chip card was hacked, bills didn't get paid, then came the overdraft fees, insufficient funds fees, replacement card fees, and other costs on my end. Those type people cause nothing but aggravation, time, and money.


Do not sign up with this bank. This bank is a total disgrace. Money was stolen out of my account, I filed a claim even told them I can provide proof that I was at work when the transactions were done. They denied the claim saying because theres a chip theres no possible way fraud can be done and I gave someone my pin. Who does that? I asked what type of research was done they told me because the transactions were pin based. At least have suffiecnt evidence not based a claim off of someones opinion. I have never had to happened to me and I'm very disappoint with how Im being handled. This bank is a rip off you try to do right and bank with a black owned bank only to have something like this take place. Now my money is gone and I'm ass out.


Terrible experience at this bank. I did the #BankBlack initiative and had the worst 2 month of my life.

First off, your banking transactions aren't immediately visible on your online statement for days. So if your the type of individual that swipes your card alot throughout these days, hopefully you keep track because the online statements won't keep that record until 1 to 2 days after. Especially weekends.

There is apparently plenty of atms that one should be able to deposit and withdraw money without fees [THAT'S A LIE!]. The atms in your area are either not working, out of order, or they just don't allow deposits and withdraws from that particular card.

The fraud alerts / protection is a JOKE. I didn't get an alert until 2 or 3 days after there was fraudulent activity on my account. Then when I reported it to the bank, days later there was still activity on my card even though the bank told me they froze the card.

The tellers are rude, I withdrew maybe  $1000 at the bank, the teller (spanish lady) counted the money to herself and didn't even bother to count the money to me, and just pushed the money to me. I told the bank manager how unprofessional that was, and nothing was done. To top that off, the lady proceeded to text on her phone during my transaction. (This bank is a joke).

If anything was to happen with your bank card you are officially out of luck for about 2 weeks. They don't issue temporary cards or anything. First it takes them up to 7 -10business days to issue a new card, then when you get your new card, it's useless until they decide to a separate mail with a NEW PIN NUMBER. So I waited about 12-14 business days just to receive a phsycial card that was useable.

Everytime I called the bank I received different information from everyone. There is so much more I could disclose, but it would take me all day to finish. The worst banking experience I had. Everytime I physically went to that 1 location, there was someone yelling and disagreeing with a teller.

Just keep 20-100 in your account with this bank, they are not worth that time of day.


Great return! I opened the acct a few months ago and I have earned more interest than my "Big Bank" 10:1 OneUnited has all the benefits of any other "Big Bank" even more


I wanted to have a good experience but across the board they failed, especially when it came to customer service. Maybe they need time to mature. I hope they develop their processes.


I went there for an event and to open an account, an older Black lady stopped me, I was not greeted, I was so happy to see us all together-- instantly it was zapped away by the lady egotistical and rude behavior. I will never forget how I felt before and after leaving this bank.


Negative Zero needs to be a new rating. Be mindful as you read these reviews; employees can deliver great reviews and lie about the most deplorable service ever. You will notice there is no verbiage after their votes. This bank has by far the absolute worst customer service and mischievous practices I have ever experienced in my entire life. I cannot and will not ever bank with this mockery. I am escalating my issue to be heard nationally. I will be sending a letter of disgust to each location and I will also seek an attorney for the absolute lack of respect and fraudulent activities that have taken place on my account. I recommend saving yourself the time and the stress and DO NOT JOIN!!!! Do you research you will find some very disheartening news. The CEO and executive team embezzles money and uses it to fund their lavish lifestyles. Also, THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU HAS DELIVERED AN "F" RATING-this is very bad for a bank!

This is why we can't build. I'll be investing with people and institutions that are truly about moving our people forward, not just using us as a gimmick to fund your ridiculous and superfluous nonsense.


DO NOT waste your time with this bank. They have bad service they don't return call. I open an online account, and they told me they would transfer a couple of cents to my other account to confirm that it's me. I received the money they sent

But I could not go back into their website to confirm , so I call the 800 # and was told I they don't see my info!!! What are you serious!!! even after I mention One United bank sent money to my other bank,and I have copy of the transaction all they had to say was go and apply again..There were no supervisor available. So now I'm not sure what they did with my personal info. I will be filling with BBB in case this bank is a scam. So much for trying to support a Black business.


Closing account today. Customer Service is really, really bad. Some pages don't load properly on their website. I received no alerts about the $8.00 they were taking out of my account for maintenance fee. In total they took out $64 with no alerts made to me, and they won't give my money back. Their system needs so much work. I was going to use this bank as a back up checking account, I change my mind. I will contribute to my black community in other ways.


I deposited 500.00 in this account over 6 months ago and i have nothing but issues.

1 they froze my account at least 3 times without explanation. Except for an alleged investigation.

i swear they made me feel like I'm doing illegal things and I feel it was a excuse on there part for having a poor system

2.I gave them another chance after a few months I checked on them again to verify my account and I see the charges again.

3. I tried to use the card for the first time after 6 months to by using 14.00 and i was declined! I called them and i was told again that there is a investigation on my account!!! I ask the representative to explain why is there an investigation and she told me she was told not to give me a answer. I have to wait until they reach out to me with know timeline which makes zero sense!!!

4. I hate writing this because I really wanted to keep them as my bank and possibly as my mortgage holder on my second home.

5. Poor customer


Another case of black folk taking advantage of black folk. Don't buy in to the hype about banking black,its all the same scam.


Willing to earn your business and have a ton of Financial services tailored to black community.


I didn't want to but the truth is the truth this bank sucks and that sucks even more. I dont want to bash but im going back to a regular bank too many issues, no customer service, only time I feel secure is when logging in and they send a password to confirm. When I did reach someone, she made me feel like she was sitting on her couch at home with a notepad! No 24/7 service available, the bank is advertised in Miami and Broward but the Broward branch is closed tho still listed. The bank opens at 9 I didn't get an answer until 10:30, after over 30 calls, just to find out no matter what you can't withdraw more than $500! At least let me take my own risk! I may keep it as a savings again, then again im reading about hidden fees so who knows. I hope One United Bank is watching and reading these comments! PS I should be able to post with a zero rating!


My account is closed and I owe no money, this company is still reporting on my credit file that I owe, and making my credit score drop with their late fees, I've spoke with this company so many times and was promised it will be removed! Now I am speaking with lawyers and ready to take legal action for them reporting fraudulent information on my credit file.


I opened up my checking account. Im so excited to start my journey banking black for 2018. My first customer service representative was not a great representation for the bank so i asked to speak with the branch manager Joseph who was awesome. He gave me details about the bank, the checking account and pros and cons of their company vs the other banks. It was a very informative meeting I must say. He also informed me the home buying procesd and the classes they offer. The first representative made me want to leave and close the account immediately but thankfully I asked to speak with Mr. Jospeh. I will continue my banking with one united. If more peoplewere to join this bank, then they can hire more representative, more call center agents, offer better rates but please be patient because this is not a large bank so they are doing their best. We have support our people. Before making a negative review, speak with a manager to let them know what is going on and what you are experiencing so possibly they can rectify the problem immediately or over time. If they dont know then how can they fix it. Come on folks


All of the negative reviews are probably made by white people. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this bank. There’s employees are polite, knowledgeable, and very helpful. They just don’t want us to support black business.


I opened a premium checking . But I really use it as a savings. One thing that I like to tell most people about small banks, that is is good to use to save money. But never good to use as your main day to day actions. I live in Coral Springs FL, so I purposely open the account with them knowing that they are in Miami. I also requested no debit cards so that I wouldn't go into the account unless I had no choice ( which would involve driving to Miami). So for the purpose that I set it up, it works great. I encourage people that want to support a black owned bank to probably try supporting them in that way. Since it is small relative to the bigger competitors that have more capital to put behind the features we are use to, it is important to consider doing it the way that I have.


I have been banking at OneUnited for about a year and a half now, strictly for a Saving Account. Opening was quick, easy, and I was given all my options immediately in layman's terms -- I appreciate transparency as it comes to my money. Since then, I've accumulated interest on my savings which alone is an huge encouragement to a young professional trying to do things the responsible way! I have taken funds out a few times and have never been penalized and it's an added plus to go to the bank on any given day and not having to wait 30-60 minutes to speak to a banker. I encouraged my entire family to bank black!


I only left one star because I could not leave a 0. Worst experience ever. I love the idea of supporting black businesses, especially financial institutions as a black woman working in finance. I got with this bank after receiving a huge promotion at work because I knew I would need MAXIMUM protection on all the money I was making making. My account still got compromised not once but TWICE in the same year. After setting up every security feature you can imagine. It has been months and THEY still have not reimbursed 1 penny of the money stolen. As a matter of face they accused me of compromising my own account!! I know it sounds crazy but I have everything documented. There is definitely some sick twisted criminals working for this company, don't be the next victim!!!


BEYOND PIST. Horrible customer service, if you want a refund it take 30 DAYS. They do not take lease agreement for address verification and I have proof of that through email.Regarding the emails, they gave me complete run around, with submitting documentation to prove my address. I have been hung up on transferred out of the blue after waiting on hold for over 20 min. Yes I’m upset and beyond frustrated,It’s so funny how the card never made it out to me within 5-10 business days but you sent me a bill for $39 dollars. If this bill reach me how come my card did not? Then on top of that it takes 24-48 hours for them to cancel your account. What I don’t understand my $250 went to you guys and seconds and was approve very quickly but when it’s time to refund me my money back, you tell me 30 DAYS? Smh . This bank is not to help you at all I will not be recommending this bank to my love ones. I had the worst experience coming from this BLACK OWN BANK. That suppose to be #1? I will continue to be very vocal about my experience, I will not let anyone have to go through this. Think twice before you do decide it may not hurt just walking in your local bank and get your credit together. Customer Service id HORRIBLE!

As a customer we should be able to ask questions, state facts about your own account with out having to stress about account balances. I havent been able to access my account for two days now and on a Saturday on when some of the branches are open I CAN NOT GET ANYONE TO ANSWER any of their 8 branches, nor anyone to respond to my facebook post! If you bank with them KNOW what your getting into!


Hello... I'm going to give this bank a idea to stop anyone from faking there review or rate. You can have a online agent's who can record customers rating or post rating with the agent to post with them and verifying there account info to make sure there review is legit. This will help in preventing any fake reviews and also help with a high input of new bank accounts. Just a suggestion.


Where you love and miss all of your Co-workers. A job where business is Family. Its more than a Bank. The owner and the Managers truly care about making a difference. May God keep making you grow.


I just open an online account. It was a great experience. But I do not think digital check deposit should take five days to clear. I hope I wrongly read this.


It's ok..I like black ownership


Very frustrated, I've banked with oneunited for over a year and on several occasions have been unable to access the money I earn. I've advocated and supported this bank since I was first made aware of the oldest black bank. Only to find out it's not all blacked owned and its process makes it harder for their customers. It seems to be better to bank with a check cashing store than this bank. Completely unsatisfied with my latest experience and will be making adjustments in 2020.


I opened an account online with this bank on December 20th because I wanted to support black businesses. I was told I'd receive my debit card within 7-10 business days. 3 weeks later I still hadn't received my card so I called customer service and was told to wait another 3 days and if I hadn't received it to go into the bank to order a new card. Now that's already an inconvenience because I don't have time to go to the bank but that's fine. Today I go in, explain my situation to the teller. She apologized and said she could order a new card. I asked for it to be expedited because I closed my other bank account and now I have bills and things that are not being paid because I have no card on file. She explains that there's a fee to expedite the card. Why should I have to pay a fee for your mistake? My address was entered correctly, I did everything I was supposed to and now I have to pay a fee? So she says she'll call and ask if they can waive the fee. She comes back a few minutes later and says no they can't. So I ask to speak to a manager and she tells me to have a seat. I see her go to the manager's office, speak to him from a moment and come over to me. She says he's with a mortgage customer and I can wait if I'd like but she explained the situation and he said the same thing. So I don't even get the courtesy of speaking to a manager? Bet. I closed my account right then and there. I've never had such pathetic customer service in my life. Never again. They have all these ads encouraging people to bank black well if you want to keep customers step your game up. I don't recommend this bank at all and it's a shame. Don't waste your time and go somewhere where they take customer satisfaction seriously.


So far this is the rating I'm going to provide. My wife and I each applied to open a bank account here. I got approve while my wife did not. Not sure why because there was no stipulation on what caused her application to be rejected. What made matters worse, is she opted to transfer $100 from her chase account into the OUB account, while she got denied, they took the money out of her account anyway. Definitely not happy about this and will look to get this rectified immediately. Myself on the other hand opted to transfer over $300 and was approved and I kid you not, the money was out of my account before the application was finished processing.

For now I'm going to test to see how things go with money management, but from the previous reviews on yelp this doesn't look good. I would suggest not putting all your eggs in one basket here.


Totally forgot to mention...after my wife turned in her application she received an email stating she got denied. Again, there was no information as to why, but instead of addressing it to my wife, it was addressed to me. My information was in the system all of 2 minutes before she received her email. Mind you she did her application on her phone, I do not use my wife's phone for anything, and there is no saved data of mine anywhere in her device. I know because I looked. Nothing in the cache, no temp files, cookies, history, browsing data.....anything. That alone is the main reason for the low review.


A few days after getting denied, my wife called the bank and they were able to swiftly get everything situated for my wife. I have had the account open for about 3 months now, and I've had zero issues with making payments and swiping my card anywhere. The only real "issue" I have is the dated looking app and trouble transferring money into and from the account. It seemed there used to be a specific location within the app to do this but has since been moved with an update. Overall after the debacle, though, I've had no problems.


I cant even activate my card and gad it for 4 days. No one to speak to after 5pm or weekends and holidays. MLK day today smh. We have to try to do better.


They treated me with respect and were very helpful. Happy to bank with them!


I am not a customer of your financial institution, I was there some time last week to do a transaction for a family member. So I did have a concern and upon that concern I ended up leaving your bank and not following through with my transaction. With the current pandemic going around I was shocked that this back isn’t opting to use their drive they services, which could minimize the spread of COVID-19, and all I was shocked to see customers sitting waiting in the waiting area, surely not social distancing. I myself didn’t feel safe within your bank environment, so I didn’t bother to transact and put my safety first. What changes have you all made since my visit last week to protect your customers and your employees, because the practices I witnessed don’t look as if they will create a positive outcome. Customers place their money on financial institutions to keep their money safe, but we also want to know our financial institutions are not only keeping our money safe but use as well as your employees.

Just opened an account online. A black business may be out of the way, it may be an inconvenience at first, etc, etc. but we must start to support our black owned businesses. We have financial power but don't know how to use it. That's one of the reasons we can get murdered in broad daylight with cameras rolling but don't get justice. Financial leverage=power. ”Money talks and b**sh** walks.” Black business owners, please listen to criticism and make corrections. We need each other.


The Black Facebook #MelanatedPeople put me on to this bank. I literally live up the street and never noticed this place. I will be opening up an account tomorrow as soon as they open.


Great customer service. Plenty of ATM locations. Wonderful programs to help build savings and manage finances


Worst customer service ever!! You try to support a black bank & NOBODY EVEN SPEAKS TO ME OR MY LADY WHEN WE CAME IN. SAT 30 minutes had to ask the security guy what to do to be seen, HE AINT even know! I really hope y’all read this & change that up. Why perpetuate that stigma of black people? Please do better.


OneUnited Bank isn't the best bank in our community, but they aren't the worst either. They're a good banking option.


If you are looking for banking with any good customer service please do not waste your time here. There will be a long hold to speak with a representative in order to receive any assistance and once you do get a rep it is down hill from there. I was informed of some fraudulent activity on my card back in August 2020 and my debit card was closed out for my protection. The rep offered to expedite my card for $50 I declined. Here on September 2nd 2020 I still have received my debit card as I was told 5-7 business days. I called One United today and spoke with Todd who again offered to expedite my debit card for $ what? Why would that fee not be waived as a courtesy. Bottom line-- poor service


Yes, a little patience goes along way! If you NEED a COMMUNITY bank this is where it's at. Finally I feel like I know Who has my money, and they have my interest at heart. Thank you, Joseph & your team at the Miami Branch. Please keep doing the Good work. WE NEED YOU!
