How would you rate Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles?
The original chicken and waffle place in Los Angeles. This place is conveniently located by the 10 freeway. When I come here I stick to the chicken and waffles, I don't order any sides. The chicken is good I would rate it a 6 out of 10. The waffles are great, they have a spice blend that I can't put my finger on. If you live in LA you have to check this place out at least once. On one of my visits I saw Stevie Wonder eating at this location.
Customers service great da wait was a lil long tho
There are a lot places these days that seem to serve Chicken & Waffles, but nothings seems to compare to the quality of the food that Roscoes delivers. The chicken is always perfect and the waffles are indescribable. I don't think I have ever had anything but amazing food and experience at Roscoes. I bring family and friends here every time I get an opportunity.
The service is fast even on a busy Saturday.. Chicken and waffles were great red beans and rice dry corn bread bland.. Friendly staff.. I'd go again just change up my order.oh and they don't do separate checks which sucks.
#3 Herb's Special: Chicken and waffle with a side of livers. Yummy!!
Be prepared to wait! At every location I've been to, there has always been a long line.
Having said that, though... it's worth the wait! Some people look at me funny when I tell them about chicken and waffles. In response, I stare blankly at them and wonder how they've never been to Roscoe's before.
Anyway, my latest experience here was about the same as my previous experiences: YUM! I usually get the Carol C. special (1 succulent breast and 1 delicious waffle). It's not a ton of food, but it's still pretty filling. As if that wasn't enough, though, I had a side of greens, 1/2 of another waffle, and 1/2 of an order of cornbread. (Yep, I had a really good gym session the next day.)
The greens were really good! So tasty! The cornbread was pretty good. If you order it, you should probably split it with someone, as it can get a bit boring if you eat the whole thing by yourself. The chicken is, of course, delicious. Same goes for the waffles. Do yourself a favor, though, and try them together. Have you seen Ratatouille? You know that scene where Remy tries to explain the explosion of flavor that can happen from eating two different things at once? Same concept! Piece of chicken + piece of waffle. Do it.
Service is generally pretty good. Once you're seated, they're really quick. I think it's because they want to get as many people in as possible. Works for me, though! They were pretty attentive to our needs and didn't seem to be rushing us out when we were finished.
Parking is sort of a pain in the butt. There's a lot, but it fills up quickly. You should be able to find street parking, though.
Food is consistent no matter what shift is working day and night never a disappointment
What can I say. The other half wanted Roscoes and we went on a late Sunday morning - and the wait was worth it! Add Roscoe's to your bucket list :)
Loooove. Finally tried the legendary chicken and waffles. Love the combination. sweet and salty!!
As a European, I wasn't too sure about the Chicken 'n' Waffles concept... I was so wrong. No better place to experience chicken 'n' waffles in LA - plain delicious!
Came here after a Kings game. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I'm a pretty easy guest at restaurants, as my only goal is to always have something to drink, and not an empty glass. I never ran out, so they get my approval.
This place is second to none and legendary. Absolutely, the best chicken and waffle restaurant in the U.S. Anytime you are in the LA area this is a place that you must come to. I am very particular about this one as it is my favorite location of all locations.
I typically only order 2 things from this menu, the Obama Special or the Jeanne Jones omelette. Both are mouth-watering good. The picture I posted is of both dishes.
If you are looking for a chicken and waffle place look no further. This is your place. Enjoy and remember who recommended you to come here.
The decor is quaint and classic (like most "soul" places), but that's not what we come for is it. Let me tell you something from the beginning. This is hands down the BEST friend chicken I've had in my life. I'm an African American man with southern roots; I've had all types of fried chicken in my several decades on this earth and they all pale in comparison to Roscoe's. The waffles were perfections from taste to consistency. I'm in New York but would honestly plan a trip out to Cali again just to have Roscoe's.
Hefty portions and laid-back atmosphere. I was hoping the fried chicken would be crispier and more savory. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but not outta this world!
If you visit Roscoe's you gotta go with Scoe's though.
This is my favorite spot to eat . You can eat it for Breakfast , Lunch or Dinner it don't matter. I am born and raised from Los Angeles CA . I always get a Scoe's special #1 dark mean a leg and a thigh 2 waffles and a side of egg and cheese every time. There was one person named MAMA she was the sweetest lady there and happened to served President Obama . I love this place . and they know me. I can never get enough of Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. I recommend anyone to come hear and try it for yourself you will love it!!!!!!!!
A late night private concert to see Molotov in LA found my group in the area, pumped, dumped, and ready to eat, LATE. How excited were we when we yelped the local eateries to see Roscoe's pop up on the top of still opened! I showed our limo driver the address and off we went. The guys were talking about the different Monster Girls that were in attendance at the event, but seriously, I kept counting the seconds until I could get my hands on some fried chicken. 5 minutes later, the limo comes to a stop and out we go, right to the front door where there was a line, but heck if we weren't seated within 5 minutes.
Most of the guys in the group had never been to Roscoe's before so the energetic ambiance and vibe of the place was already a big plus. The smell of fried chicken permeated the air and my stomach began to burn. We hustled our orders in and before our food arrived I thought I need to take a group shot of us. No sooner do I step back to capture the whole table, a lovely young lady (somebody said she might be a prostitute?) literally through herself onto the table and photobombed us. Talk about making the night!
Needless to say, excitement filled the air and even added to the 3 stars that I'm giving the food. Why? Well, not sure if it was just too busy or undermanned in the kitchen, but the food took a bit long to get to us and when it did (although, the drunk ones in our group REALLY enjoyed the meal) I was actually disappointed with my meal that evening. Mostly because I thought the chicken was underseasoned, overcooked, and oily. I think you can probably see that in my picture w/ the red beans and rice.
Will I be back? Likely. I don't like seeing a good place like this fail on their signature dishes.
I hope you like rice or grits with your breakfast. I don't care for grits or rice (with breakfast) and was told I could sub fried potatoes. Upon placing my order, I was then told I could not sub the potatoes. I was advised to order a la carte and pay over $15 for 2 eggs, potatoes, and coffee. Even so, the eggs would be scrambled with onions and peppers.
If you're not in for the chicken and waffles, the menu is extremely limited. Don't want onions in your eggs? Too bad, NO SUBSTITUTIONS, or in this case subtractions.
2 piece chicken and waffles was $13.00 (what my wife got) coffee $3 and I barely got half a cup on refill.
I spoke to the manager and told him, he lost my order and any future business just because they would not sub potatoes. He said okay, rolled his eyes, and walked away. He then had the nerve to come to my table while my wife was eating, look at me, and say, "How is everything?"
Never. Go. Back.
I guess now we know why the chain is struggling so bad. Good riddance Roscoe's. Hopefully Snoop Dogg will save you.
The food is good I ordered. A waffle, eggs with onions and cheese, and a chicken breast. Everything was good except the chicken. I am from Louisiana, and eat Popeyes chicken frequently . The breast was extremly dry and bland. I could not finish it, but everything else was delicious.
Amazing! The waffles are the best, the chicken is the best, everything taste so good. It's not the prettiest place but who cares when the food is that good.
I don't know what it is...if it's that chicken and waffles always sounds better than it is or if it's cuz I've had fried chicken in the south and nothing compares. But, I wasn't overly impressed with this spot. I always love waffles, those were bomb. The chicken was good not great. More expensive than I thought it would be but, that's ok its novelty for sure. I wouldn't rush back here but, wouldn't be opposed if friends wanted to go. I feel very so so on this spot
Very very good chicken and waffles. However, we waited about 40 minutes just to get in the door and about another 15-20 minutes to be greeted. And then about another 40 minutes for food. I think they may be short staffed... Oh ands it's midnight on a Saturday night.
The service sucks, the food not as good as claimed. Terrible. Not clean restroom nasty
Service is shaky. Customers are always ghetto af lol. Best waffles I've had to date. Food is amazing.
Legendary chicken and waffles! Can be hit or miss, but always tastes great when you havent been for a long time
MY FIRST TIME AT THIS LOCATION , SPEAKING OF SOUL FOOD THIS WAS THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN----WAFFLES COOKED PERFECT---EGGS WITH CHEESE GREAT... OUR MEAL WAS EXCELLENT KNOW MY SOUL FOOD AND THEY PASS WITH BOTH OF OUR THUMBS UP AND MONEY WILL BE COMING OUT OF THE POCKET FOR PICO LOCATION...THEY WERE BUSY BUT NOT SLOW SERVING THE MEALS...........ADD SOME MORE STARS FOR THEM...THANK YOU
Okay, so this place might have a mildly inflated repuation. It's not the BEST soul food of your life, and not even the best soul food in LA -but- it's still GOOD. If you don't have the stones to go further south for amazing chicken and waffles, Roscoe's will still hit the spot. The crunchy, crispy, fatty, syrupy, meaty, coma-inducing spot. It's an icon worth stopping at but pro-tip: get the dark meat, get the butter on the side, and bring people to enjoy it with or you might inhale it all too fast. Come hungry, portions are huge. Bring your wallet for the full experience. Its neither expensive nor cheap, and the savvy diner can make two meals out of one.
Was told "wait time is 30 min or so". Been waiting for exactly 114 minutes....still no food. That's almost 2 hours. Took them 1.5+- hours just to sit us. There's babies screaming in here like crazy. This place is a mad house. I've had the food before and it was cold & over fried. 2nd time here and the experience alone makes me want to eat a hobo's sandwich in the alley. At least the conversation would be better than hearing everyone scream in here about their crappy lives. I can't come back....unless I want to wait nearly 3 hours to eat in a mad house.
You will not find better waffles and chicken plates anywhere else in the entire California state. Their signature juice drinks are AMAZING, too! Especially the Sunrise!! Highly recommended!
Delicious food and friendly staff. Get the Obama special! Compared to the other reviews there was no wait at all on a Sunday morning.
Pleasant experience overall. Our first visit to LA. Service was kind and helpful. Waffle and thighs were tasty. Exactly what I expected.
Ordered take out, waited 20 minutes for 3 chicken wings, grits, 1 egg, 1 biscuit. Got it home and there was NO chicken. I called on the way back and the guy said he was looking at my chicken. I asked for a new meal and 20 minutes later I still did not have my meal. The manager said sorry we are busy. I call BS on that one.....NO EXCUSES
Chicken had good flavor but over fried and a little hard. Red beans were awful no flavor would've had to add 2 pounds salt had I decided to eat it, corn bread okay and root beer was great. Ohh yea the waffle was great too but who could go wrong with waffles and syrupy/s😏
I went for the first time on a visit to LA, lived up to expectations. The only way it could have been better would be if they added a spicy chicken as an option. The chicken and waffles were great (not sure what they put in that stuff but it's good), the service was good enough, and it was appropriately priced. What helped was we were there as they were opening (I've learned to do this when visiting a landmark or attraction). I could see the service being tough when they get busy - some places you just know to avoid at peak times. Also, if you ever have to wait an hour to be seated, you will almost always be disappointed in your experience so just plan on going early and if there's a long wait, go somewhere else.
Roscoe's is famous for its chicken & waffles. Honestly the waffles are like Crack. The chicken can sometimes be hit or miss. And I've never been a fan of their soul food sides. That doesn't mean it's not good just not to my liking (and I know food being from Chicago).
Update: 5 minutes after eating, he threw up! He had just said something was wrong with one of his wings, then next minute he vomits right outside the restaurant.
Not good. Just lost a star.
It should be called Legendary Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. I had heard about it, this was my first visit. My expectations were more than exceeded. Crispy chicken, not overcooked, still juicy and favorable. I was worried about trying the waffles, I had heard stories. They were right! What do they put in those waffles? Awesome! I had waffles on my mind the whole 4 hr back to Vegas. Sorry .. No pictures of food.. Just couldn't wait to eat.
I'm from the east coast I came out to LA for a visit went to Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles Wow!! is not good enough to explain how good the food is. Good service Good food love it. All i can say is Roscoe when can you get to the east coast? We welcome you!!
Best Southern style cuisine! Had the Obama special. Line was long but service was great
and worth the Wait.
The people were very friendly they kept me laughing I came feeling down I left feeling brand new thx for the uplift Angie Nicco audry and Ty....HAPPY HOLIDAYS ROSCOE'S
It's ok. Mac & cheese was a lil dry. Would go back
Cant go wrong with the Obama Special. Weird seating in the back, aka "the red light special". Reason being why my food is kinda hard to appreciate through the pic. While i was eating my chicken the light made it difficult to actually know if my bird was fully cooked to the bone.
But them goTdamn waffles tho, 👌🏿🙌🏿
I found he waffles were better than the chicken. Chicken was dry and greasy. Waffles though, delicious.
Good food, very good food. The room is a bit dark, but there are a special atmosphere.
I couldn't wait to try Roscoe's on my trip out to L.A.! I have been to L.A. so many times and took quite a while to try this famous eatery that I had heard so much about, but the wait is over! I finally made a stop this April to see what the hype was about.
J and I walked here for brunch since it was about a mile from where we were staying. We were greeted and seated promptly and our waiter came by to take our drink order while we looked over the menu. We both chose the two piece chicken (dark meat) with 2 waffles (I forgot exactly what it's called on the menu). Our order took maybe 15 minutes max to get cooked and brought out to us. Everything looked fantastic and once I bit into the chicken, I knew that Roscoe knew what he was doing and he did a good job. The chicken was moist and cooked just right. The waffles were very tasty as well. They have a hint of cinnamon along with some other flavors I can't quite distinguish. For about $13 + dollars a plate for what we got, it was money well spent! Chicken and waffles may be simple, but you have no idea how many places don't get these right, but this place does. I love the hype!!
First time trying food here and I gotta say it's good!
The waffles have a really good taste mixed into the batter. The chicken is the right kind of crunchy and not overly oily.
All the hype was true. Took my family here after another family member went three times during her recent trip to LA, and it was delicious. A little hectic inside but the food is for sure worth it. I'm a huge fan of waffles and these were the best no-frills waffles I've ever had. Get the mustard greens or the mac and cheese, too.
We were lucky enough to find parking and get seated right away and the service was good. I'm vegetarian and not a huge waffle fan, but the waffles were pretty good, if extremely filling. I also got eggs, which were perfectly cooked, and orange juice, which tasted fresh. My boyfriend got chicken and waffles and scarfed everything down with a grin on his face so he definitely enjoyed his meal.
This was an AMAZING Meal.
Their waffles are awesome, with the perfect syrup. The chicken was so delicious. And the #1 Mac and Cheese in LA was the #1 Mac and Cheese of my life. Service could be improved but the meal was great and my glass stayed full so i couldnt care.
In short if i could choose a meal to choke on and die. Anything from Roscoes would be it.
Roscoe's is always a great place to get some comfort food. The waffles taste amazing! The chicken is really juicy and taste fresh. Mac n Cheese was a let down. But when it comes to the basics. A great place to get a good filling.
Ate here twice and the food is sheer perfection! I ordered the #23 with a chicken breast. Added the mac and cheese and 2 more wings.
Yams taste so good make you wanna slap somebody.
This place was the worse ever when it came to customer service. My family and I were seated and then had to move to a different table because the ceiling was linking. We waited 20 minutes for a waiter to take our order. When we tried to find someone to service us another waitress was nasty nice and let us know this was not her section. We ordered and waited another 10 minutes before we left to get better service at Jack in the box. Never would I ever do that again, this place sucks along with the staff. Dont waste your time with the T.V. hype about this place. I love chicken but not that much. I'm full and satisfied right from Jack in the box.
Roscoes is always great but especially the Pico location in my opinion. My second favorite is on Gower in Hollywood. The food was fresh and hot. The service was good. However, I took away one star for cleanliness. I had to wipe several crumbs off my seat and I feel like the clean up crew should clean everywhere. Not just the tables. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner and will be back!
I generally love Roscoes but today the service from the kitchen was not the quality I've had over the years. We came late night and on a very busy night... nothing unusual for a Friday night. The cooks however seemed like they were ready to go home. Two of four of our orders were wrong. The quality of the food was not to standard (old waffle batter, undercooked fries, and one of us was missing 1/4 of a waffle like they ran out of batter).
Service was excellent! Our waitress was really nice and helpful. Management compensated us without hesitation.
The food is usually really great. We travel from San Bernardino county just to enjoy the food and atmosphere.
The food was great, as always, but tonight we had a server who just didn't care. We waited so long, we witnessed another server take three tables drinks, food and they all eating before we got our drinks order in. And forget about refills, we all ran out of soda and water and here she came bringing our check, never checked on us, nothing. That's the only reason I gave only 3stars. This my last time at this location
What an amazing spot to get a quick bite to eat. Delicious food (we ordered chicken and waffles) the chicken was cooked perfectly, crispy and very flavourful. The staff was super friendly and very prompt with our food and drinks. Great casual spot to check out!
Delicious fried chicken, always crispy and well seasoned. The waffles are also excellent and thin, with a hint of cinnamon. Once the butter is smeared and the syrup goes on, I have to finish the entire thing. Always ready to return
I'm from Florida and I was told by many people to come here... And, boy when I tell you that I'm happy that I did!!! The service was quick!!! The waitress Ms. Danielle had excellent customer service!!! OH MY GOODNESS THE OBAMA SPECIAL WAS SO DELICIOUS THAT ALLLLLLLL OF MY FOOD WAS GONE WITHIN 10 MINS!!!! THE HYPE ABOUT THIS PLACE IS REAL!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ROSCOE'S CHICKEN & WAFFLE'S!!!!
Not coming back to this place. It doesn't matter if the food is decent. RUDE service, they didn't even bring our drinks for the first hour of waiting, and still brought out the wrong drinks. Server will give you attitude if you don't know exactly what you want to the T. Worst part about it all, is that when we got up to pay and leave after complaining multiple times, they called on someone to check the drinks they brought out to charge us more. I know we all want to visit popular spots; just find another place. This is not worth it.
Great chicken and waffles. Coming from the Southeast, I was skeptical that Roscoe's could do chicken and waffles right. This was one of the better chicken and waffles that I've had. Spicy and sweet but not overstated. Definitely worth the trip.
Great food! Best I’ve had while on vacation here. Only downside is they could not split the check. A bit inconvenience for the customers like us with a party of five. But besides that fun experience.
Horrible experience! Sticky table. Seated for more than 30 minutes with no service. No water. People seated after us was served before us. We had to get someone's attention to get served. Asked for separate checks. All hell broke loose when we tried to pay. The lady at the cash register was not happy when we had to tell her who ordered what so we could pay separately. She had a very nasty attitude. She yelled at our server. We never got butter for waffles. Asked for cheese grits and got what looked like eggs in the grits. It was unmelted butter and cheese. I never got onions on my smothered potatoes with gravy and onions. No refills on lemonade. Horrible experience!!!
Delicious food, good service, decent prices, filling portions, would definitely recommend.. chicken breast was crispy, waffles were hot just add butter & syrup & boom! Grits needed a lil sugar & pepper, eggs were cheesy, great meal!
I've been coming to this location for years. I'm sad to say that the food has declined in preparation and taste. I ordered my usual, the #13 Succulent Chicken breast and waffle with a side of macaroni and cheese for myself & the #18 leg and a waffle for my 4 y/o son.....the chicken was over cooked for both plates & my macaroni and cheese was not as cheesy as it's been in the past. My son wouldn't even touch his chicken and he loves chicken.
I've heard about this place through a friend. And OMG... Bomb dot com! I tried the Obama special. It was a good price for just the chicken and waffles. I can't wait to visit again!
First impression: why do they have two bouncer like men directing you in the parking lot? Anyhow, we were promptly seated and the waitress helped us order the chicken with waffles with a side of mac and cheese. The chicken was pretty flavorful, both the skin and the meat. The breast meat was tender and the skin was fried golden brown. The mac and cheese was also excellent. The place is a bit dodgy but the food was good.
I actually enjoyed the food this time. I stopped getting the waffle. Service was good at the beginning, then as the crowd grew we had to almost get more water and coffee for ourselves. Waiters continued to stay calm and pleasant.
Good food i had chicken with rice and gravey. $12.00 good price. We got lucky we had no wait time to be seat it.
Like always the food is amazing.. But I would highly suggest the waitresses write down the orders, she messed up a couple things but it's alright. She did help make our choices better and cheaper! And the cornbread could be a little softer and not as dry. But other then that very pleased!!!
Classic southern joint for chicken and waffles. Location is not optimal and requires security inside the restaurant and parking lot. Food however is decent. The crispiness of the fried chicken goes very well with the waffle. Cleanliness isn't Roscoe's strength, but chicken is.
Customer service was great, the food was on point and parking was a little tight. I had to park on the street and pay the meter but other then that I had a great experience.
Limited parking, (we didn’t attempt street parking), but there is someone in the parking lot that will guide you to the next spot or tell you how long the wait will be before you get a spot. The man who was working that night was sweet! Service at the restaurant was not the best (took 15 minutes before a waitress even came by to ask our drinks, guy who cleaned our table before we sat down seemed mad at the world, hostess pointed to an empty table and handed us the menus, never saw much of our waitress and had to wait awhile for our checks). As for food and menu, their menu had several options that I wouldn’t mind coming back to try, but as first timers, we tried their famous chicken and waffles. The chicken was good, but a little on the dry side. I’d rather have overcooked chicken than undercooked chicken though! Waffles were awesome! I would come back again if in the area, or around another Roscoe’s (hopefully they have better service than we did this time), but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
So my boyfriend and I were searching for a place to eat. I had heard that this place was really good so we decided to try it out. As soon as we get there we get seated at a dirty table. The waiter takes our order and then the worst part, our food comes out in 5 minutes. I swear I was in shock how fast our food came out like if it was already ready. The food was disgusting! It was cold and not even fresh. Super disappointed, they could of at least warmed up our food.
While visiting Los Angeles we decided to check this restaurant out. The food was amazing I ordered a number 3 and number 9. This place is worth trying if. One more thing marked off my bucket list.
Thank God for blessing us with food! Thank you to the stranger that paid our check!!!!! made the food taste better! thanks so much sir you paid our bill and said you where impressed that we prayed before we ate! thanks so much you were a huge blessing !! and our bill was like 80 bucks. you know who you are out there somewhere hope you read this one day!
The area isn't the best to be in, the parking is limited but the food is great. I'd recommend anyone who wants to eat at Roscoe's to go first thing in the morning when they open. There wasn't a crowd and we were seated right away. I always get the Obama special because anything else would probably make me super stuffed and unable to move. Everything was great. Can't leave Cali without stopping by Roscoe's.
I went to the West Hollywood location. Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. I had the #22 collards, thigh meat chicken with Mac +cheese. I added a waffle and washed it all down with a Lisa’s (?) tea and lemonade. Moderately priced for two people. I left stuffed. Parking is a bit tight, but they have their own lot. It’s right off of la break on to pico.
Have died and gone to friend chicken heaven. This place is a must visit if you are in and around Los Angeles. Waffle. Perfect. Fried chicken, simply out of this world with an awesome wait staff and speedy service to boot!
Holy heck this place is so dang good JUST GO. Best chicken and waffles I've ever had anywhere in the world, and so reasonably priced. If you want crunchy waffles, don't go here! But I personally loved the contrast of the soft-textured waffles with incredibly well-seasoned and excellently fried chicken. I love that you can specify what cuts of chicken you want. I preferred the thigh because it's so tender. I also love that this place serves sweet tea. Amazing! 🌠
The customer service was ok. The food wasn't. The chicken said 'southern' style.. Maybe it was Southern CA style but definitely so far from Southern fried chicken. Mrs. Winners in GA is better than this - hands down!! My fried chicken is even better.
Tried Roscoe's for the first time the other day. I decided to get the Obama's special with a slice of sweet potato pie for dessert. Their wings were tasty. Not too salty, and was juicy not dry. The waffles, on the other hand, were AMAZING! Their waffles are flavorful with a hint of cinnamon. I thought the portions were better than I thought they would be. Definitely felt stuffed just from the chicken and waffles. I thought the pie was just ok. I grew up in the South and have had better.
Always wanted to come here. Definitely worth it. It is on the pricey, especially for sides; however, the portioning is large to justify it. The waffles were tooooooo good. The chicken was nice and crispy and full of meat. My friends didn't like the Mac and cheese since it wasn't cheesy; I thought it had great flavor though. The fries aren't all that, but you get a lot of fries if you get them on the side. Overall great foodie experience.
Greens had a strong vinegar taste ... I like that because it didn’t make me run... the Mac n cheese could’ve been a little less cooked and more cheesy.. the food is iconic and the service is so LA... I actually ate here three days in a row.. eating here is just something you must do!
Enjoyed my meal. I had the number 1, it was a lot of food. The mac and cheese was just too salty for me. The water tasted funny. Everyone was friendly.
Had a great time for my first time eating at Roscoe’s in LA. My server was sweet and kind and right on time. The food came out super fast and he chicken was hot. I got “The Obama”. I didn’t expect the waffle to be as thin as it was BUT it ended up being the perfect amount of food. No complaints! I love the culture!
I always love getting food from here. I love crispy waffles so I have to ask for my waffle to be well done, but they always take care of me and the chicken is always delicious! One of my favorite places to eat.
My 1st time there.. it was sooooo good! Seasoned very well and flavorful!! The macaroni and cheese and yams were so bomb!! Can't wait to go back! Open one on the East coast please!!
Classic diner, you are guaranteed to feel comfortable here while eating the delicious and filling food. The portions are large and the wait is never long. The price is also great for the quality and quantity of food that you get.
Great place to take a date too. There’s nothing quite like chicken and waffles to get a girl on their good side.
No way did this place live up to the hype. The service was slow and cold for the most part.
Seated fast but left to wait. Food came out fast but only because the traffic that goes through here requires them to be like a chicken-focused home town buffet where the "chefs" just make large quantities of food with no real taste or love for the flavor. Expensive as well considering the environment.
My experience eating at the world famous RC&W was less than delightful. I would compare my experience to a planned trip to Hawaii that crashed in the ocean, meaning expectations were high, but in the end I was disappointed. The meal was good, but people don’t go to restaurants because the food is good. The value is the experience. I can toast a waffle and fry chicken at home for a quarter of the cost of the Obama Special. If this is true, exceptional hospitality should be the standard, not the exception. Never again.
Perfect service and greens and cornbread. I got a President Barack Hussein Obama Special with fries and an Eclipse to drink. Totally satisfied and delighted. The only other place that has such a good experience is Gus'. Bravo Roscoe's.
This location has always follows through. Same Roscoe's goodness. The building & interior itself seems really outdated, but the last time I went I noticed that their starting to do little upgrades. The waitress took our order on a tablet. Whatever the outdated interior it has never doesn't mess with the quality of the chicken & waffles. It's still delicious and I will continue to eat here whenever I get a craving. Make sure to get in early, it starts packed in there especially on Sundays.
Food is great. Service is terrible staff needs to be drug tested. Seated fast and left to wait for 20 minuets in booth before even being noticed. I asked a waitress if she could please take my order she replied I’m not your server. After being waited on it took 30 minuets for my daughter to get her chicken burger. The waiters in the section we were on only served black people. A Caucasian couple in the booth in front of us experienced the same experience. Our waiter Justin was great it wasn’t his Fault he waited our table because the other guy was getting high.
The night was cool, I hadn't been there in a long time. I always get the Oscar e, the chicken usually was always a little heavy but this time it was nice and lightly fried. It did seem a little salty to me, but my friend said that she felt it was season very well. Also the tea is always the good. The server was very nice and personable
Finally made it here! It wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I ordered the Obama special and my chicken tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp, It was dry and barely warm so was my waffle. My grits was way too lumpy for me. Tho the staff and service was very nice. The Eclipse was good. I'm glad they stay open late, because there was no other place open in the area and we were pretty hungry. #detroitchik ♡LA
My food was great as always but ladies , this was one of those moments when his plate looks better than yours. I ordered the 13 as usual and my boyfriend ordered the same but with greens, Mac and cheese and cornbread. Delicious!!! Full of flavor.
I've never known him to have leftovers but the portions were generous and he had to tap out. Lol
And the sweet potato pie was really good with a homemade taste.
Service was good and fast. Can't wait to return. ❤
The food is here is good and authentic but it is a bit pricey considering the location. The restaurant is not the nicest looking and could use some better lighting and appeal. The staff is good but not great. Overall, if you are looking for good soul food I would recommend coming here especially for the chicken and waffles, which is there most famous dish!
I loved the food. And the fact that Obama was there as well was cool to know. Had a great time. Exceptional service.
My service was good,... BUT the place has definitely changed over the years. The staff and the patrons are definitely different. My food was good, as usual, but there was a poodle that was allowed to dine in a booth there. Others seemed to think that was cute, but I did not 👀 (And no it wasn't a service dog). I don't like a side of pooch with my Obama special. Lol.
Food and service was great. They even let us taste two sides before ordering. Their chicken was crispy and flavorful!!! Everything was good...waffles, greens, mac and cheese....
I don't know how they have cooking now but it is not the same, they gave me some cold gravy, I sent it back than they came out with some water gravy. The eggs taste like somebody scrap the bottom of pan. I was so disappointed this was always my go to place, but everything about this place has changed. I don't know if they was having a bad day or they just not good no more. The waffles or basic now taste like a ego waffle from the freezer department.
'Scoes just doesn't disappoint! Saturday night had a full house of happy diners yet with no line before seating. The food was great and portions clearly larger than my stomach (had to get a takeaway box). To top it off our waiter, Dwight was fantastic. Thank you for making my return visit as great as I remember the other times I've dined when visiting LA. "I'll be back!".
My experience here was great. The world wide attention this place gets I didn’t expect the staff to be so humble. The food is amazing and I ran into David Banner.
Not sure why but the food is so much better at this location, (Pico) than the one in Hollywood. Service was courteous and fast. I was with a large group so things can take time but our server was efficient and I had my food in no time. Would go back on my next trip to the area.
Love this spot and Long Beach! I like the crowed and the workers here. Really upbeat and the food is always good. As the many years I’ve eaten at roscos the first time I tried their sweet potato pie was a few weekends ago. New best thing for me! I like the fact that this spot is located right near are comedy spot so it’s perfect to see faces and to have a great spot with good food to eat. If your like chicken waffles greens sweet potato and all that good stuff it’s here.
I would like Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles get better on their waffles. their waffles are very thin and it looks like they come out the frozen box. the chicken is very dry maybe they've gotten better I hope so, the last time I was there was a year-and-a-half ago. They're pricey and they can give a enough food portions for the price.
CAN I JUST SAY AMAZING! we love the food here! Plan on waiting a bit to be seated, other than that it's pretty good, servers are little busy but not to the point where you need to known to be assisted...A for the win.
No wait to be seated, when I went. The food looks good I ordered the chicken sandwich with thigh, which I recommend. My order was obvious to me because I don’t like to deal with bones. Also the fries were great. Enough fries to share
Honestly I don't usually give a bad review, but I really don't think this place is worth the hype. We waited 45 minutes for our food (after having to physically find our waitress to get our order), and she never came back to refill our waters or check on us. I had to go ask her for the check. The food wasn't terrible, but definitely not worth the price. The bathroom was tiny and toilet paper was everywhere, though it was fully stocked. The whole place just seemed dirty and chaotic. I definitely won't be back, at least not at this location.
First time here. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. I ordered the #4 with a Sunset and oh my goodness! The drink was divine!
I abandoned eating meat sometime ago but revisited for the trip and I was not disappointed. The food and drinks both reminded me of a childhood with Grandma cooking dinner and making kool-aid/lemonade for your summer enjoyment. The service was on point, our server was really friendly and answered all questions.
If I'm ever back in L.A. or know someone who is, I'll insist they pay a visit.
Finally decided to try out this location. Food was great. Service was great. one thing is that my husband ordered dark meat for chicken and they gave him white meat but my husband decided to eat it anyways. We'll be coming back again when in the area.
The young man that took my order was very very pleasant. The security guys outside were very accommodating and nice also. I ordered a takeout. When I get home I was very disappointed, the chicken wasn't really fried very well and the waffle they folded in half and when I unfolded it it wasn't done on the other side. I was very disappointed I will stick to the Roscoe's on Gower and Sunset Street, because the Roscoe's on Pico Boulevard food is not good. Very very disappointed I came all the way to from Detroit only to be disappointed.
The food here is not that great the place looks dirty seats all ripped up, come on y'all they've had this business for many years and have made a lot of money from the people why can't you make the place look more presentable. It lets you know they don't care about presentation just making money so I asked a question to everyone why support a establishment that don't care about you. The people deserve better than this because without them there would be no Roscoe's
Great price and great value. We both ordered the Obama special, one with fries and the other with waffles. Their fried chicken is delicious! Our server Justin provided great service. He was very attentive and even brought us a to go box without us asking for one. We will be back next time we’re in LA.
Can't go wrong with this Los Angeles staple. They say consistency is King and if that's true then Roscoe's scores very high. They have a signature taste and you never have to wait long for your food. Great variety of a menu that most people do not take advantage of as there are many tasty hidden gems within
It lived up to the hype. Food was amazing. My boyfriend ate half of my chicken and waffles because he didn't know how to eat his right. The chicken gravy was amazing we need to come back.
This place is a staple of LA, but that being said I feel like it is a bit of a tourist trap type of place. The food is decent, but it's definitely not something to write home about. Can you get good fried chicken here? Definitely, especially with the house made gravy that they have. Waffles though are pretty plain, and really underwhelming. I feel like I can get those kinds of waffles out of the grocery freezer. The bigger focus here would definitely be the chicken, which it is good, but not super amazing that it beats out all other fried chicken restaurants out of the water.
Love the chain but this one has really went down. Chicken was salty no flavor and barely fried. A couple of our wings were not cooked all the way. But I can say the customer service was good and they gave us extra chicken to accommodate us. Only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1
This was my first time. Fun atmosphere, but even better food and drinks. I got the #9 Obama special and a sunrise drink that was lemonade and fruit juice. Soooo good I can't wait to go back. Service was quick and people were nice.
I had a great experience, thanks to the service given by Angie Duarte. She was attentive, kind and sweet. She recommended the #3 as an appetizer and it was a wonderful suggestion! I liked the Mac and cheese, the cornbread and the eclipse! When you go, make sure to look for her!
Chicken is very well cooked, but not extremely flavorful. Waffles are good. Chicken gravy is delicious. Good amount of food for the price.
Pretty good food, though a little pricey. I recommend the wings over any other cut. The wings actually have more meat in them compared to the leg and thigh. Also, it seems like most people order wings, and so when you order them they are more likely to be hot and fresh. The leg and thigh I ordered were relatively cold and didn't seem fresh compared to the wings.
Had to try this legendary place. It did not disappoint. The waffle was tasty. The chicken was fresh and crispy. So glad I finally tried it out. I see why it is well known. Next time I am in the area, will definitely come back.
This place is nice, and a bit pricey. The Mac and cheese wasn't as good as I'd hoped, but my girlfriend said the waffle was the best she's ever had. Great feel to the place too!
Roscoe's was awesome. I'm from Ga where Gladys Knight opened our eyes to chicken and waffles but her midnight train doesn't compare. I had wings and wakes with a side of mac and cheese. The Wales had nice crispy edges but was still light and fluffy. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and fried beautifully. My food came out hot and everything was great. When I return I will be sure to hit this spot again. Whether your a visitor or local dont pass up the chance to hit Roscoe's. It is all it was built up to be.
The food was very good. It was very flavorful and what you expect from a chicken and waffle place. the flavor of the gravy was okay it wasn't the best and it's not the best I've ever had but it was acceptable. the chicken serving size was again okay it was a little too little for me but we each have our own preference on that. the only thing I want to mention if that sometimes the servers can get sassy with you if you do something to maybe confuse them or not make a pleasant first impression on them. I guess that would be my fault because I heard something wrong but just pointing that out there two people so that they're not surprised. if I was ever wanting a chicken and waffle place I would definitely think of this place again and their other restaurants.
This place was number one on my list of places to visit. It is a popular spot. Parking is a bit hard to find. The food itself was good. The location that i went to was the same that President Obama visited. I ordered his special and it was good. The chicken was made just the way i liked it. The staff was great. They were nice and friendly. Definitely have to try it.
For my first time in LA this was really a treat. I got the "Obama Special" with the waffle and a side of cornbread. I loved the waffle and I'm not usually a waffle person but this waffle had hints of cinnamon and was JUST big enough that I felt full off of that alone!
The chicken was pretty good, I had 4 wings come with mine which I doused in hot sauce. It didn't taste any different than fried chicken I would have anywhere else however.
As for the corn bread it was pretty dry. It's a huge square piece and it tastes okay but it was just so dry. I ended up only eating half of it.
Other then that, everything else was really good and a nice experience.
I was craving a good seafood spot for lunch so I gave it a try and boy was this a good choice, not to expensive, very fast and super filling. I've been back at least 3 more times since first trying. Good job guys.
Perfect blend of salty and sweet. The waffles were melt-in-your-mouth delicious, the chicken skin was crispy and flavorful, and the meat itself was juicy and tender.
Even the eclipse drink I had was amazing. 100% freshly squeezed OJ and lemonade, fused with fruit punch. Easily one of the food spots I've been to. The food, served, and atmosphere was top notch!
I've never been to LA so when I got a chance to go for a business trip, my boss said we have to go to Roscoe's
Sure it's just "chicken and waffles;" but it's oh so good. Chicken was fresh and tasty, the waffles was warm and soft. And the syrup and butter added that extra 👌🏼
Definitely go if you can spare the calories; because it's a lot of good home cooking.
Great for tourists, wouldn't recommend it for any locals or anyone from Southern California. Chances are you've had better from some mom and pop spot. I was surprised at how little was available on the breakfast menu considering they serve a combination of chicken and waffles. You would think they would have some other well known american breakfast, lunch, or dinner options. NOPE! The name sums up everything and the only thing interesting about this place. Servers were great and the establishment was very clean but that's nothing to brag about for a world renowned restaurant...right?
It's hard to describe. If you like waffles (as I do), this definitely is the place to go. I always get the Obama Special (OS): 3 chicken wings (simply delicious) and a waffle. Of course there are other things on the menu, but I always get the OS. I would overwhelmingly recommend Roscoe's chicken and Waffles on Pico Blvd. I give it the highest mark.
Food was AMAZING! Chicken seasoned to perfection and waffle was crispy on the edges, soft inside with lots of butter. Being from south Texas I normally can't find a great place to eat where the food taste good. This place reminds me of home.
Iconic spot for chicken and waffles no doubt. I personally love the Obama special which comes with 3 fried chicken wings and a waffle. Its a good amount that fills you up and the food comes really hot. Overall a great place.
Best chicken ever. So great line out door down the street. Only bad thing is 4 people and they don't split checks, and I didn't receive a refill on my drink. I understand that place is busy but if you want a big tip keep the drink filled.
I love this place! Especially the morning after a nice long night out at the bars! It definitely hits the spot.
