How would you rate Roscoe's House of Chicken 'n Waffles?
I may be one of the few Black people in Los Angeles who's not goo-goo, gaa-gaa over Roscoe's. I mean the chicken is cool, but it's a bit dry for my tastes. Also I love Dinah's over Roscoe's. HOWEVER, the waffle is on pizn-oint! Better than even Waffle House (if you've ever been down south)
So I really just get me some Mac n' Cheese and Greens and I always grab some waffles to go. Really good hangover food, but even better the next morning. ;-)
This particular Roscoe's is good if you trying to meet some Hoodie but goodies on the late-night after The Savor or GS Lounge lets out. Pretty much guaranteed to run into Inglewood's finest out here. And on the bright side, if shit pops off, you are a mere 100 yards from the 405 FWY to peel out! ;-)
Went with my sister whom is in the Navy and we got very special treatment. I love the wing's and waffles that were so good together. Service was outstanding atmosphere was cool and kickbacked.
The food is amazing.. And it was my first time having chicken and waffles.. The waffles were seriously some of the best waffles I have ever had. And the chicken was perfect. Crispy. Delicious. Down side, it is on the expensive side..
What can i say -- tasty fried chicken and waffles on the same plate! (Actually they serve them on separate plates but it sounds better this way)
The service and food were awesome!!! Our hostess was also our photographer. She was full of personality. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. The mac n cheese was the best!! Yummy I can't wait to come back to LA for Roscoes!
Terrible. The mac n cheese was very dry. Food tasted terrible. Horrible customer service waited over 40 minutes for food
I now see why they are doing out of business.
Overpriced food with low quality
Was at the wax museum and decided to give this place a try because I have never had it before. The thought of a waffle and fried chicken just didn't seem right to me. While I was putting syrup on the waffle and using ketchup for the friend chicken.
Alright I got here and it was kind of hard to find parking and this place LOOKED SHADY! It was just a door and a dude standing outside as if he was the bounce or gate keeper. It was the entrance to fight club or something. I'm like oh man i'm in for an experience LOL! Alright he opened the door and alright cool. It was a restaurant and everyone was sitting down and eating. We get seated and I ordered my waffle and chicken. Man was I wrong, I'm all for weird combos and this was not weird at all. Did not disappoint at all.
When I used my phone's Yelp App to locate restaurants near my work place, I was elated that Roscoe's was within a 5 minute drive. So, for lunch one day, I phoned in my order: The #18 (one thigh with Waffle), an extra side of thigh and a side of potato salad. I made my way over right after phoning in my order and was lucky to find a parking spot in the strip mall where this Roscoe's is located. Parking on this lot is based on luck. My order was ready by the time I walked in. My total for my order was $17, which I thought was a bit pricey - given that for around the same amount of money I could have gotten a family meal at any fast food chicken eatery. Once I got back to my work site, and opened my boxes, I noticed that the chicken had melted the styrofoam container - the chicken itself was a bit on the overdone side. Although the waffle was a bit soggy, it was quite delicious.
This Roscoe's location was a hit and miss. The others were much quicker on their service. We had to wait about 25 minutes after placing our order for our food. And once our food was finally served, it was a bit cold, waffles were soggy. I would recommend trying their freshly squeezed dranks such as the Eclipse or the Sunsets. Those were delicious! They freshly squeeze lemonade and orange juice so anything using those ingredients will delight your taste buds. The chicken was great as well, crispy, great flavoring, and warm. Chicken seemed on par with the other Roscoes locations.
Went today for chicken and waffles. Chicken was good, waffles taste like frozen food and the syrup tasted like chemicals. Not sure why....this place is not like it use to be. The one in Inglewood is much better ...go there!
Great food! Fast, fresh and hot. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. This made our visit to LA well worth it. This is the better location. We went to the location close to the airport and some of the staff were kind of rude. We left because they wouldn't allow my fiance to use an outlet to charge his phone. Really? The W. Manchester location is the best. I wish they would train their other location. Will be back.
Very friendly staff. The wait to be seated wasn't to long and once we ordered the food came out fast. The food was hot and fresh and very delicious !!
Chicken tasted as if they fried it in old grease that had been burned... the chicken tasted burnt even tho it wasn't!!!! Anaheim location much better!!!
The food was horrible, fries weren't done all the way. The chicken breast was dry and had no flavor. Annoying parking enforcement telling you how to park, LITERALLY!... DON'T GOF HERE..WASTE OF MONEY
Its pretty nice here fast friendly service and the wait has often been minimal which works for me. It seems ppl often order to go here which I've tried but its not my preferred method....overall I prefer this location than the other in my area.....most definitely!!!!
Love this place! Great good! No other pave like it
Love the establishment, very professional and provide great service. I recommend this roscoes to all visitors as well as town locals.
Love this soul food! If you don't want a waffle, get the mac&cheese!
This has been a long time fav, only setback they are getting a bit to pricingbut the waffles and other great food. Make for the prices.
ALWAYS ALWAYS A TREAT! Been coming here years and never disappointed. Wonderful waffles, fluffy, sweet, little salty with da butter. Wishing they would bring some live to the damn IE-Inland Empire...
The food is delicious! The restaurant itself is nice looking on the inside and outside. My only quibble with them is $3.00 for a very small glass of orange juice. It tastes fresh squeezed but it is just sooo small for so much :(
The service was great and the place was well kept. The food is delicious and the prices are pretty good.
3 wings, waffle, mac and cheese, sweet tea.. $22!
My hotel's oatmeal was free! Gotta make better choices!
One of my favorite restaurants in town! The best waffles I've had and some of the best chicken I've had! I highly recommend this restaurant to all family and friends visiting from out of town!
Love this place! I love waffles I Love chicken and I definitely love them together
It was bomb..we came from fresno& we had to try it!!! Mmm mmm good🍳🍗🍞
It's been a while since I have been to this location, but I will definitely return whenever I am craving soul food. The staff is very friendly and yesterday, one of the gentlemen even helped me all the way to my car during the rain storm. He carried my food and drinks so I could hold my umbrella!
Parking usually gets full so if both lots are full maybe try parking on Manchester. No real wait time. The staff is friendly. The chicken is good. I expected a bigger waffle but it was good nonetheless. Moderately priced, about $10 a plate. Left feeling satisfied.
The food doesn't taste the same. The gravy is now just under cooked flour in water with no seasoning. The chicken is either bloody and chewy or just like a brick. 😢....i had to go find the server after waiting 30 minutes for her to come back. There's also no parking any more. ...so you pretty much will be hoping they don't tow your car from this gang infested neighborhood.
Love there chicken, smothered potatoes, there waffles are amazing, there mac & cheese is the bom , the one in Hollywood on gower closes late specially on the weekends. Must try it ... LA pest place to go eat w the locals
Went at 8am service was good food was good .I had a waffle with a thigh and eggs with cheese and onions.
Chicken dry. Went mostly for the tourist factor. Overpriced. Dry pre-packaged biscuits. Avoid the biscuits and gravy.
I had tasted the hot wings when I was a young adult but going back to have a hearty meal was the best experience I had. I had the two fried chicken, Mac and cheese, collard greens, cornbread, with a lemonicedtea. Delicious 😋....
Craving some more.....
Always delish! But now that they're doing Uber eats and Postmates, I waited an hour for food.
I've tried many roscoes. I will stick with the one on Manchester in Inglewood as my top choice. Long Beach is also great and Pico is alright. I'd do Pico over this one though
Angel my girl up in there wipping it up.. Everybody and they Momma loves Roscoe's.. Must Go.. 20 More Starz 😉
Delicious waffles and chicken legs. ( chicken legs are dry). Good table service
Delicious food! Warm, polite staff! Great service! Hot and juicy chicken every time I come here!
Food is good. Customer service is good. Taste of the food isn't as good as it was 5-10 years ago but still good.
The service was terrible. The host got a nasty attitude. Waited 30 minutes for my food. Will not be back. I will continue to go to the one on Pico.
I love there crispy chicken and there yummy waffles 😍😍😍some staff members are rude and have poor customer service.
Still same ol Roscoe' s I've gotten older now and could not finish that #3 in a sitting. Food was great and service was wonderful the host was funny and kept the waiting customers laughing while waiting.
Seating was good, just look before you sit, my chair had a little syrup and grease on it (I don't know how but just look lol).
Bathroom was really clean and smelled fresh so they are checking and cleaning frequently.
My waffle was cold, but my chicken was hot. I think you should serve hot syrup, that way if the waffle is cold the syrup can warm it up. Great service.
I’ve been here 3x in the last 8 weeks. And I’m always impressed, wonderful customer service from the hostess to the servers even with a baby in the stroller they make us feel at home. The wait also isn’t as crazy as other locations
Good food, excellent service. Chicken breast was dry, would recommend ordering dark meat. Great waffle!
Great atmosphere & great service & DELICIOUS food
Atmosphere, Customer Service and Company were great. Be careful with the Sweet Peach Tea though. Its sweeeeeet!!!
High prices for the small amount of food given. Service was mediocre. The cashier was nice.
Food was delicious!!!!!! The syrup is just sooo bomb! Friendly staff. My kidd enjoyed it very much!
It was good but they made us wait too long and people who came after us got to go before us.
Mac n cheese is wonderful. All and all food is great. Only thing that's a bummer is the parking situation, very small lot and only 2 handicap spots. There is parking in the back, however not handicap accessible really. The guy helping with the parking is very helpful and colorful though. He is AWESOME!
THE FOOD WAS DECENT. THE BATHROOM WAS NOT WELL SERVICED IT WAS DIRTY AND SLIPPER. THE WAITERS NEED TO WORK ON KEEPING THE CUSTOMER HAPPY
The best place to eat! First time here and was given a well announced warm welcome! I recommend the Obama special and the home made lemonade!
Just good fried chicken...period. Fast and hot, not too salty. Creamy grits and great tea.
I had the best experience ever!! My server was named Dar he was exceptionally awesome!!! Never in life have I encountered service like that. I had to bless him with a 110% tip. I'm going to request his services each time I frequent this location.
The Boom .like a waffle and chicken. No imitators. Roscoo waffle and chicken orginal. La cali its worth every trip
Great food! Fast, fresh and hot. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. This made our visit to LA well worth it. This is the better location.
The staff is friendly. The chicken is good. I expected a bigger waffle but it was good nonetheless.
I have been to 3 of Roscoe's restaurants, and by far the one located on Manchester Blvd. is now my favorite.
The menu's are all the same,... but either my tastebuds were off before, or I'm choosing to believe that the empty plate I left is a testament that the cooks here have a definite edge over the others (just saying!).
My only disappointment is that they close at 3 PM every day with the last call at 2:30, so get there early. By the way they close at 3 because they do not sell alchohol due to the neighborhood (and I'm good with that).
By any account the food is good at all 3 Roscoe's I have visited, but Manchester is my new bestie, but I highly recommend this chain of comfort/soulfood restaurants. By the way my order is always the 3 price wing with a waffle, a side of grits and eggs without cheese, and don't forget the sunset lemonade.
Please go and enjoy because plain and simple, THIS IS HAPPY FOOD... Bonaparte!
Customer service was really good and the food came out hot, but sadly the food at Roscoe's was just not that good especially for the price.
We ordered an Obama special and 1/2 Chix Special. The waffles were soft in the middle, but hard/chewy on the edges. The cinnamon flavor was a highlight, but the tough consistency made us long for Waffle House's simplistic break-apart waffles from the East Coast...
The wings were decent, but the thighs were a little red; the taste actually was not comparable to an LA local favorite we tried, Pioneer Chicken. Therefore, it sort of disappointed us that a place that has chicken and waffles in the name does neither all that well.
We are from Atlanta, so we wanted to know what the hype was all about. Sadly, the food is not all that great and we feel like this is more of a hype/money grab thing than actual greatness. Can't see myself going here more than once especially with places like Poppy and Rose on Melrose serving BOMB waffles and chicken.
On a side note, I was enticed to purchase some 'freshly squeezed', five dollar orange juice ... not worth it, but it still tasted better than concentrate so I'm on the fence about that...
This place was really good and very homie and a very nice type of restaurant, but the portions are extremely too large and the menu is kind of confusing to work around. The area is small but kind of homey feeling. The staff there was nice and friendly and very a attentive.
When you first walk in the lady says "Hello" the atmosphere was nice and friendly. I can't find my pic of the Biscuits & Gravy, but OH! MY! I Really enjoyed them. I also, had a Sunrise drink that was so delicious too.
I am so glad to finally have had an opportunity to vist Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles. This was the BEST part of my vacation.
Always like home when I come to this place. Friendly service good food what else needed to be said. Don't let the surrounding fool you them some good guys looking out in the cut.
Great place! Has a homey feel. The waffles are homemade and delicious. I can't wait to go back!
The service was great. Food was served nice and hot with a very short wait time. It is a little pricey.
Came to California for a vacation and made this a just try restaurant before we left. The experience was definitely impressing, the atmosphere was nice and the food was delicious. I got the Obama special, everything was great. COME TO FLORIDA!
I love roscoes chicken and waffles! I always order the Obama Special which is #9 you get 3 chicken wings, 1 Waffle and a side. You can’t beat this special ladies and gentlemen I’m telling you it’s to die for. All the sides are good, fries, yams oh and you have to try the biscuits!! For a drink get a sunrise or sunset. Enjoy
Visited 2 times and the servers were friendly both times. But the 2nd time the fried chicken was too salty. Waffles are always great. Will come back soon.
Chicken and waffles were good but the sides were excellent! The mac & cheese is good & the smothered potatoes are delicious! And the sunrise drink is a must try.
Customer service is great. Food is great. Prep time is fast and well done. Location and parking isn't so good. Overall a 4.5 for me.
We had a good family outing. We enjoyed ourselves to the max. It has been awhile since we had a time to sit down, talk and eat.
Food is excellent, really great ! Ive only dined in once a long time ago and service was great but lately every time i come here , and i do love coming here , but the service from the female workers mostly is horrible. Not including the manager
Very Nice People. All though it gets very packed most times, it's still an awesome place.
It's so delicious.
I had the Obama.
Chicken was seasoned and fried perfectly.
The waffle was sweet, crispy and soft in just the right places.
Go here for sure.
The take out service is much better this year. I no longer feel like they are mad to see you coming. They greet you and interact with you as you arrive 👍
Diamond in the rough of South Central! Parking lot is small but I forget about that when Im living in the moment of their delicious waffles topped with warm syrup and butter mixture. In my experience, the chicken has always been crunchy and great at this location. When Im not in the mood for waffles, the soul food meals there will satisfy my hunger! 😁
Food was great. Service was excellent. Parking is limited so have patience
Food and staff was excellent. My grandchildren wanted to go to a restaurant they have never been. I ordered the Obama one of my favorites they loved the food and they asked if we can go again next week not a bad idea at all. The atmosphere for calm and very pleasant.
Juan the cook made a real good breakfast. I enjoy eating here because he cooks great. Hope he stays for a long time. What you ask for he cooks for you. Thanks Juan
For my family's first visit to LA, we just had to each lunch at the historic Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles! The restaurant was bustling with dine in and take out customers. The staff was professional, friendly and attentive. The chicken and sides were absolutely delicious. However, the biscuits (which I was really looking forward to) tasted flat, store bought and refrigerated. Aside from the biscuits, our overall experience was great and I commend the staff for their hard work!
Great place to eat, the Compton one is the best one. Everything on the menu is good. This is a place you go to relax, enjoy some fine dining, and talk. You will spend at least an hour here dining. The beverages are out of this world too. The fried chicken is out of sight!!! The waffles are great, they also have smothered potatoes, grits, eggs, biscuits and gravy...
The chicken is legit. I thought it was going to be the same ol' but nope. It's definitely amazingly tasty. The waffle was good but nothing spectacular but the chicken takes the main stage. Gravy is good and tasty with onions in it, a little too starchy for my tastes but still tastes great.
Great customer service and friendly. It was my first time there and they made me feel so welcomed, would definitely become a regular! The food is mouth watering! I want to try the whole menu!
First time visiting LA so we had to try in infamous Roscoe's and let me say...... we stopped by there on our way to the air port. The customer service was beyond great and the food was delicious. The fried chicken.... made you wonder what you aren't doing to yours to taste so dang good. Definitely recommend.
The waitress was pleasant and professional, the food was really good...but when it came time to check out I was not happy with the way the cashier conducted herself when I paid my check.
She didn't greet me with a friendly "hello" or "can I help you ?" just "NEXT !!"
She seemed to be either having a bad day or was just unhappy with her personal life as she tossed me a pen to sign my receipt.
The icing on the cake was that I didn't even receive a "thank you" for my patronage.
She's an overweight young black woman who (in between taking care of customers) eats food at the front booth across from the cashier desk and plays loud music from her phone...
She absolutely shows no respect nor appreciation for the customers who keep her company operating...#shameonyou
Visiting from out of town for business I was took to eat at this legendary restaurant in the middle of South Central Los Angeles. Upon arriving there wasn't no parking available so we had to park across the street at Mc Donald's. Parking is tight so keep this in mind for first time visitors. Moving forward Customer Service here is average they tend to be very bland in their interactions but I assume that comes from dealing with regulars verses with new customers. The food is good but the chicken is very good. It has a good vibe and i think you should visit.
Not in the best area but I've seen worse. Went there Sunday morning around 11 and it was easy to park. They have a person outside directing you where to park and they also have a security guard. I was seated right away which was also surprising. The server was friendly and attentive. I got the two chicken breasts into waffles. Each chicken breast is enormous. It was probably the best fried chicken I ever had in my life.
We came here in February for my husband's birthday. He has a t-shirt from them since it's his favorite restaurant.
The chicken and the sausage is just ok.
But the waffles. Oh my. The waffles. They are HEAVEN.
The best waffles I have ever had by far.
Imagine flavors like cinnamon and nutmeg with hot melting butter and syrup. It is so, so so good.
100% Highly recommend. The atmosphere is ok and it's crowded. Nothing fancy at all about the restaurant. They do sell their t-shirts. But I really don't care because those waffles make up for everything. I could eat them every day.
First off it's a tiny place, in a rough neighborhood, but for the most part the chicken and waffles were just as good as any other Roscoe's Chicken and Waffle. But the waitress was loud and rowdy she act very ghetto. I was not pleased with that at all but I will go back again.😲
No one in the world does fried chicken the way Roscoe's does. I've been making it my most important meal everytime I return to LA. The original location is always the best, but this is also another one of my favorites. Great staff and amazing fried chicken and gravy. The meat is always fresh and tender.
As I entered the restaurant that was the one to greet me.
I stood at the counter watching people come & go still no one to greet me.
Not knowing what to do I sat down at the nearest table.
I waited 10 minutes no one came to serve me.
I waited five minutes more then a woman came and asked was anyone serving me?
I said politely no one has came to serve me.
She asked me who sat me I told her no one. She said well that's the problem.
I sad they will know extractions at the counter and as I waited no one paid any attention to me so I believe it was a seat yourself.
She said well we can't see everybody.
Now it was not the fact that I did not get waiting on that was the truly bad experience it was the attitude atonal boys and what she spoke to me as if I was some sort of degenerate not deserving of service.
PS, I was with my business partner that was on the phone outside waiting to have a business breakfast.
Great food. Super flavorful chicken and rice with gravy. Food size is good for 2 people to share.
Hello & Peace to All!
Quick, friendly service in the AM at the top of opening at 8A!
We made a shareable moment of the #13 & #23...or a #36 which consists in order of,
(13)breast & waffle & (23)yams, greens, corn bread & 2 wings.
We believe the formula & size of the waffles has changed but we did not confirm this with the restaurant.
Some bomb food, breakfast or lunch. Service , always friendly and fast. Once you grub here you'll know why a 5 star spot.
The chicken was good; wonderfully seasoned and crispy.
But the waffle was horrible. The flavors of the original recipe just weren't there. I was disappointed and left there feeling gypped.
The service was bad too. They had one or two servers for a restaurant full of people.
My server left me waiting for my order for over 15 minutes, never giving me the courtesy of saying "the kitchen is running behind" or anything like that.
Once my food was served, she never came back to see if I needed anything, and when I requested a to-go container, she ignored my request and I had to get it myself!
I've heard a lot about this place, always wanted to try it. Loved the waffles, never been a fried chicken kinda person, but I really enjoyed the whole meal together. My wife loved it, so I'm sure I'll be back to try something different.
I don't know if this is the location or me but I didn't get the hype, I found the Waffle really average and kind of blend, not really flavorful, the chicken was good but no as good as other known places. The eggs were excellent.
The ambiance is really good with cool music and staff.

The menu and service were above our expectations. We truly loved the atmosphere of this place. First-rate place to take my family out for lunch.
One of my favorite restaurants for a celebration. Quiet, romantic atmosphere. Service is outstanding and friendly.
My first time here, wifey suggested this place since I love fried chicken. However I didn't get chicken and waffles, I got the chicken and grits that came with a biscuit and their what I call homemade gravy which had onions. Wow! The flavor was amazing. Also had their beverage that was a mixture of Ice tea and lemonade which also was amazing.
I had lived in Louisiana for a short time and got to eat plenty of the South's home cooking. Service was great, clean, good music was playing.
It took me back in time and we definitely will go back to try other items on the menu.
These are evenly coated in the spice mixture and super crunchy. The chicken wasn't dry but I also wouldn't call it moist. It pairs perfectly with their orange sauce!
Delicious food, Nice atmosphere the best waffles. I love the Obama special 3 wings and a waffle. Very reasonably prices.. It's a must you go to the one in Inglewood CA.
Great food. An institution in comfort food in LA. The waiter went to the extreme of sugesting which plate to order so you could get the most value for your money. His suggestion was right and the food was delicious.
To be honest I am not sure where all the hype surrounding this place comes from. The food was just ok. Sort of like if Denny’s served chicken and waffles.
Waited 5 and a half hours for food to be delivered on 5/10/2020. Ordered at 11am and didn't get my food until 4:35pm. It was ridiculous. By the time hour 3 was approaching I just drove down to the restaurant myself to see what was going on. What I witnessed was utter chaos. Orders being called out for people that had cancelled hours ago. People assisting with calling out orders that weren't actual staff. Not sure if it was a staff shortage or they didn't have a good system in place for taking and making orders. The staff seemed agitated from the people complaining, but did little to pacify everyone to make things run a little smoother. But if you aren't ready to handle the demand then you shouldn't be open for business. They not only messed up my Mother's Day plans, but Mother's Day plans for a lot of other people based on the angry delivery drivers. It would take a lot for me to consider ordering anything from here again.
first time and they deserve 6 stars !!!
food,drinks,music,the people everyone was amazing!
