How would you rate Rosalind's Ethiopian Restaurant?
Wow!!! Absolutely fantastic!!! I haven't been so impressed by such interesting food in my years and years of traveling. The healthiest food, amazingly spiced. If you never have had Ethiopian food, you better try it!
Suggest the combo/sampler appetizer and the Sambusa for starters.
And, Rosalind's has a full bar.
Thank you Rosalind's for the great meal today!!!
Wow where should I begin, it was my first time trying a Ethiopian Restaurant in LA...Nice size colorful Restaurant, service was not the quickest but it's so worth the wait great food portions and very spicy.. I tried the meat plate which was oh so tasty its a must try......
Yes, I will be back. Oh and you will be eating with your fingers which makes this experience unique.
Worst and most humiliating restaurant experience in my life. Waitress wouldn't take my order, and had to be nearly forced to come back to the table, because she kept walking off. She took everyone else's order but had some sort of stick up her butt about me, apparently. The short woman with the orange dreadlocked short hair.
I had to wait an HOUR just for my salad. I NEVER received my drink and when my food came after an hour and thirty minutes, it was stone cold. We immediately just asked for the check, and that took another 40 minutes, with us TWICE having to get up and go ask her. She kept walking outside to chat with people. By the time she'd behaved so flippant and rude, i was crying. I think I just paid 60$ to be insulted and have the worst service I've ever received.
Great place with great, friendly staff. I started my meal with the sambusas, plantains, and ordered one of the combo plates with assorted foods which were great.
I love this place, This was the first ethnic restarunt that I've been to in Los Angeles (besides the Mexican joints) the food was genrally good and I love how they have vegetarian and meat eaters menu.
Let them order for you. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced.
Good preparation delicious food thanks a lot..
I tried Ethiopian food for the very first time. It was very different, but I did enjoy it.
Thank god for Groupon because i wouldnt pay $40 worth for the food and service here.
We arrived at 8pm and the food didnt come until almost 10:30pm! It was a big group but geeze there has to be some sort of better process to serve 20 people ..especially when you know a big group will be coming to your restaurant.
The food itself was not very appetizing, i would say the vegetarian combo at $16 a plate was probably the only thing worth trying if you are just curious what Ethiopian food is. I guess the novelty of it all is eating with your hands..but you can eat French Fries or chicken wings with your hands too!
Just not worth the wait in my books.
While dining there was a live band performing, at times it was way too loud to have a conversation with even the person sitting next to you! I personally probably wouldnt be coming back..even if it's for someone's birthday!
I too would avoid this place. Food is not very good-the meat smelled as if it went bad. This place was empty for a weekend. The workers would smile in your face then go to the back and mock other groups, and talk about others in their language (assuming people wouldn't understand what they're saying! huh!), totally inappropriate workplace behavior. If they do this behind your back then who knows what they would do with your food. I was disgusted by their behavior. I definitely won't be returning. I wouldn't recommend this place, poor quality food, poor service.
Me and my family love Ethiopian food. So I was excited to take my family here. The service was good and we decided to order the vegetarian combination, meat combo and awase tibbs. Everything was decent and the food was good.
First time eating here today and first time trying Ethiopian. I'm glad I chose this place as my first. Very good service and great food. Our server would also refill my water glass continuously. She knew the food was spicy ;)
We had a wonderful meal here. It was our first time trying Ethiopian food and I was impressed how delicious it was. Our wait staff was really friendly and attentive and so was the service.
Great location and interior design. Lots to look at while dining. Full menu, but some of the main dishes were not available at early lunch, no explanation offered. The food presentation was lovely, however, I don't know if everyone is into eating family style with your hands. It was odd ordering 2 dishes from the menu and getting a single plate. There was plenty to eat and share. I think it's worth a try, especially with a Groupon.
I only went to Dj here but the owner was very nice and helpful. Great place.
Fast friendly service. Also the menu is easy to understand.
Friendly service and authentic food. Fun atmosphere.
I had some really good food here and the customer service was not great but ok. Except, that the server had the audacity to ask for a larger tip, according to her the tip did not went accordingly with the total amount. Well, that was not very nice. I am not coming back there anymore.
Delicious and regularly offers groupons
Fantastic Ethiopian food in the heart of little Ethiopia. Bring some friends, they probably are big.
Didn't love the vegan appetizer combo but the veggie combo was pretty solid.
This was my first time here and it was a great experience! The food was delicious and the servers were extremely friendly and helpful. If you have had Ethiopian food before far warning you eat with your hands. I highly recommend this restaurant.
This is probably the best Ethiopian restaurant in town. Amazing food and ambience.
A fine place to eat, the staff was nice and the food was delicious. I'm not sure where it rates on the scale of places in the neighborhood, but I'd definitely go again. Not the cheapest place to eat however.
Anyone who loved Nyala will be sorely disappointed in Rosalind's. You can't get the chunk chicken in the meat combo, only the leg and egg. Lamb was greasy with large hunks of inedible fat and bones. Service was average. Will not return. Will continue to find an Ethiopian restaurant to compare to Nyala.
Love this place. Excellent food and lovely people.
Go nowhere else for Ethiopian food; excellent portions at excellent prices! The zilzil tibbs and vegetarian platter would satisfy any group of 3 or more.
Interiors was unique. A very cozy place to eat. The food was delicious.
Delicious food! Excellent service! The fish is my favorite!
Very friendly service. Great food. Well priced.
Lovely place to eat, delicious food, nice people. Very enjoyable dinner.
Rosalind's has fantastic food like all the other Ethiopian restaurants on Fairfax. The decor here is a little more fun than the others.
Amazing food great place and service!
Great food. Lovely patio.
Good food and nice atmosphere. This place is well done, the colors and table setting. The servers were very nice. Its small so dont expect a crowd. I did not need to wait to be seated, though I only been here once so not sure if that is normal.
The staff are so sweet and attentive! The restaurant itself has a huge part in the history of Little Ethiopia in Los Angeles, and the food is delish! I’m vegan currently and it’s been difficult to find good Vegan food, but I found this gem! Most of their food is completely vegan and the flavors are mouthwatering. I could not stop eating! I definitely can not wait until I visit with my friend again! Try the sambusas with lentils 😌
We (party of 7) had an early dinner (6:15PM) on Friday 29 June. The place was nearly empty and the person who attended us was probably a manger or owner rather than a waitress. She was extremely helpful to my daughter suggesting where she could go buy gluten-free injera in the neighborhood and bring back for her meal. BUT she was inattentive to our order -- I had to ASK (after the food arrived) if she would take a drink order; she would do one thing (get appetizer order form a late arriving member of our party), then disappear until she served it. And, worst of all, I ordered the meat combination that does NOT include chicken, but the majority of the meat was indeed chicken. Plus we ordered a second meat dish that was entirely lamb and it never appeared as a separate item (it was probably one of the items added to our combo, but who knows?). I probably should have sent back the meat combo but we had waited a long time and were hungry, so I did not do so. The vegetarian combo was much better than the meat one (perhaps because I'm not a fan of chicken). All in all the food was adequate and tasy, but not the best, and the injera kept coming (she was good at that part of service) . I lament that Nyala (my favorite when in LA) has closed and I'll try another one of the many places on Fairfax next time.
Food tastes amazing. But I got sick with it.
Casual friendly fun
Excellent food and great service at a fair price.
delicious food and awesome service
Our usual go-to spot down the street closed for good but we're glad we found this place. Melt in your mouth injera and the chicken for wot. Will come back for more!
Nice ethiopian restuarant and bar.always have good time with nice reception.
I really love their salads and the vegetarian combo plate. The staff is friendly but not overly attentive which is great for an intimate date.
I come to Rosalind ones a week, Great food great customer service, I highly recommend it
I LOVED THE FOOD AND THE SERVICE
I've been coming here for years. They've never disappointed. It's a local gem, not to be missed.
food was so delicious. i think i might become a regular. it has a nice interior.
Love this place. Food is delicious.
This place had delicious food! The price and portions were large for the combination plates. I have tried some of the neighboring restaurants and would definitely come back here for the price and quality. The atmosphere is very relaxed and underwhelming, however.
Nice atmosphere and tasty food. The Plantains are a good.
I got meat combo 3 of Key Wot (#6 beef), Yedoro Wot (#7 chicken), and Yebeg Siga Alicha (#11 lamb Stew). In order of favorites, it would be chicken, lamb,...read this and 496 more
