How would you rate Dulan's On Crenshaw & Dulan's Catering Company?
VERY GOOD SOUL FOOD AND STAFF WAS EXCELLENT THEY CATERED FOOD AT MY JOB WILL ALWAYS HAVE THEM CALL THEM BACK NEXT I WILL TRY THE MANCHESTER LOCATION
great tasting food I loved it
I've been to both locations and never have I been disappointed.
Largest of all the locations and I was greeted immediately which is a plus anywhere. It was also the coolest in temperature as the others always seem hot. Great customer service and so glad there is one within walking distance.
Price is right considering you can get 2-3 meals out if each plate. Love this place!
The cashiers and the servers are super super slow. They have no sense of urgency to get the customer in and out they stand around looking at each other waiting on each other to do this and do that they are extremely slow it was 4 people in there when I arrived and it still took me almost 25 minutes to get my food the old man that serves food is the fastest and most adequate person in the entire building.
The food was superb!! The smells when you walk in is so inviting! Mr Dulan personally brought our order to us which was great! The staff was friendly and they continuously checked on our large party to make sure we had everything we needed. And the portions are very generous! Dulan's is A+ anytime I'm in L.A. I will be returning! :)
I loved it! The entire staff was friendly, inviting and well-versed on the menu! The food was delicious. I got baked chicken with collard greens, mac-n-cheese & mashed potatoes. The German chocolate cake is sooo good! Also, This is the only place I've been able to find really good sweet tea(I'm from the south). I'll definitely be back!
The food was AMAZING. I had their fried mac n cheese, chicken, cornbread and sweet tea. It's been 2 weeks since I've been there and I can't wait to come again. Don't pass up on giving this place a visit.
Excellent food and very helpful staff. The short ribs were great!
I went there a couple of weeks ago for the first time from Moreno Valley. The food was delicious. The hospitality was even better. I am paralyzed and my sister was pushing me in my wheelchair, when a young lady came out and asked if she could help me. Then as we were leaving one of the waiters helped me to the car. Thanks again .We will be back soon.
Delicious!!! This place is great. Prices are fair the amount of food comma you'll get from here haha.
Amazing customer service, meet the owner and he was extremely humble and nice. The food is amazing, lemonade was really good and I had their red velvet cake that was delicious!
Very Delicious came across the fwy because I've heard so much about their great food and they didn't miss a beat. I'll be back soon.😀 Also nice size portions. Well done.
One of the best legitimate soul food restaurants that's actually black family owned and operated plus it's the same location that Harvey Levin film to show south of Wilshire which makes it a monument
My wife and I were visiting Los Angeles for the first time and we were referred to Dulan's on Crenshaw. The portions of food were large and reasonably priced. After eating there on Saturday night, we considered going back Sunday as well. Great tasting food, friendly and courteous staff!
WoW I am addicted ....roll through Dulan's at least once a week. I could just eat the vegetables and be happy.....I usually order a dinner and I can eat well for two days and maybe have some vegetables for the next. Good? ...it is great soul food and the best people behind the counters...the best and they are on their feet ..its hot and fast moving ...they are always cheerful. I love it....I met two friends there last week on Saturday, we ordered all different ribs, chicken, fish...it was great and we ate in and bagged our stuff for the next meal ....Love it ....no hassles no problems and my courtesy card for a free lunch is filling up fast. I Love It. Its Sunday and the Special...oh the greens, real mac and cheese, and the corn with okra etc...is great and I hate okra....or at least I used to...You get 1/2 a chicken with the Sunday meal if you like but everything is more on Sunday with one price for everything including dessert.....oh the dressing is great ....rice and beans .....black eye peas....yams oh God.....I gave up cokes for Dulans food and I am losing weight ....tell that to Dr. OZ . :)
Soul food restaurant. LARGE entrees. Very friendly staff. Clean establishment with its own soul food restaurant in the hood charms. The food was just fair tasting and the chef's added sugar to just about everything. The fried fish was good. The lemonade was from some powdered origin as well as the iced tea. Good place to go in a Sunday if you're hungry. Not such a great place if if you place taste above quantity.
Good food. Great customer service. Dulan was out speaking with guest. This is how resturants should run.
Credit card policy is horrible. I ordered food $12-13 and paid with credit card. Forgot to order my drink and they said i would have to spend up to $10 to pay with my card. Disappointed that the staff was not able to resolve this issue, i did'nt want the food any more and walked out. Tried to call a manager and was refered to an answering machine and recieved no call back
Very professional, wholesome enviroment , with great food, fast service and a Grade A from the health dept. Other soul food places are always running out of food but they have more than enough at closing time . Thank you
The food is hearty and the environment is cozy. Love me sum Dulans
Veggie plate goin up for dinner. Food quality and customer service ALWAYS A1 here. Mr. Dulan is always polite also.
Ate it all but to be honest I felt like the smothered chicken was left over fried chicken from the day before with gravey that was sitting on it for quite a while...if that's soul food I don't want anymore!
Great food. Great people.
I contacted Dulan's to cater my beloved mother's repast. Ms. Kim called me, took all of the information, helped me make sdlections and quickly created a contract for my review. She was very patient and professional. She assured me that they would provide ample food and great service. Dulan's kept their promise. I received numerous compliments about their food and service. I cannot thank Dulan's enough for ensuring a beautiful repast was accomplished.
Very positive experience, a lot of food it can last me 3 days. Over the years of coming I have tried everything, all is good. Nice and quite atomosphere.
Great customer service! Good food.
Dulan's ON CRENSHAW serves the BEST SOUL FOOD! It's freshly cooked! You can Taste the love that was put into cooking it! It's never greasy it's never too salty the vegetables are cooked to Perfection not overcooked. They give you more than enough to eat on at least Two times from one plate. They have the Best Customer service! I can say this because I've tried multiple Soul Food restaurants in southern California and they don't compare.
This is the best Soul Food I have had in Los Angeles. I have tried others and this is the only one I will go back to. The food and staff are great. The owner even visited with us for a while, making us feel very welcome.
Anytime I need some Soul Food while I am here in Los Angeles I will go back to Dulan's on Crenshaw.
This was a very good place to eat lunch. The restaurant was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. The staff was really friendly and had speedy service. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the L.A area. Im from Texas.
Dulans is always a great heart warming 'soul-food' homey delight! Good is delicious, perfectly seasoned and not overly salted! Great and grand portion sizes... that always last me for 3 meals!
I love their smothered chicken, macaroni & cheese, and cornbread.
I really like the way they have it set up cafeteria style where you walk up, see the food behind the glass, and select what you want as you walk down toward the register. Its quick and easy. You don't have to wait for your order to come out and the food tastes very fresh. They are constantly changing out the food pans because the food sells quickly so don't worry about getting old food.
They have inside and outside seating and the place is very clean.
The customer service is GREAT! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Thank you for that!
Plenty of street parking in the surounding neighborhood. I think I've even seen valet service as well.
They accept credit cards.
My only con is that I am not a huge fan of their yams. Other than that I say definitely try this place. Good prices for a great portion of food.
Just ate there for the first time with cousin from S. Carolina. She loved it, too! We both had the meatloaf: she had greens, yams mashed+gravy: I had mac/cheese, blk-eyed peas, greens as well. We both had dinners.ate there, took the rest home. It was enough for two more servings! I will be going back!
The customer service was excellent. This was my first time eating at Dulan's and the food was deliciouly scrumptious. I will eat at Dulan's again when I'm in Los Angeles CA
The food is outstanding, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. They catered food for my party and everything was delicious and my guest went home full and happy.
All the good reviews ..... i ordered the meat loaf w macaroni cheese and mash potatoes and it came with a dessert and drink. The price is a little to much for the quality. If you know good food you will be highly disappointed . The macaroni n cheese and corn bread were good ...the mash potatoes were awful. The lemonade was also good. The meat loaf didn't have good flavor. The rice and gravy was watered down. The staff was very pleasant!!!!!
I went to Dulan's tonight for dinner was so disappointed 😥 in my dinner. I ordered oxtail dinner the young Lady who fixed my order didn't even ask me if I wanted rice.I didnt want the rice she wasn't listening to me my greens taste like sugar was in them my red beans were not even done. I wasted 22.00 on food I had to throw away. So disappointed.
My family, about a hundred of us, were there for a repast. The staff at Dulan's treated us so kindly, great service, great food. Reasonably priced and comfortable there.
Absolutely loved the Crenshaw and Manchester location. Awesome food wonderful service. Thank you Mr
Dulan and Staff
My see visit since this location opened. The food is absolutely excellent. The food is well seasoned, your tummy has a party with every bite. My daughter was visiting from the down south and she fell in love. She will be taking food back home with her when she returns. She said they don't have food like this down there. Keep up the great work "D"
First time here! Literally had a mouth watering orgasm the entire time. Wish I had an extra hour to wait on the oxtails but ill be back for more! Everything was excellent, service was great!
When you go here ask for Max he really makes your plate the way Dulan's intends to show you with warmth and love and happiness that comes from their comfort food. Real professional server opened the container made sure the gravy and the unions were on the plate the way I liked them. Max # 1 server at Dulan's ask about him.
I love the food here. The price is equal to the amount they give, and they give alot. The only problem is parking, but since I went at night I was able to find a spot quickly.
My first time eating here, though I've passed the place many times and had heard about it. My review: The food is really good and they aren't stingy with the portions. The food tastes truly down home. The staff is quiet but friendly. The place is on the small side and the parking isn't the best, but Dulan's is worth the trip! Umm good!
Great food with decent pricing. Good for Vegetarians also. Also they have good cakes .
I was made to wait for my food just because the register would run out of change. After 20 min Paris the register person just keep asking for me to wait I walked out. Very unprofessional
Went to Dulans last night for take out. Great, quick service with a smile. The smothered pork chops we're delicious. Had the short ribs on my last visit,. They were delicious too. Overall a great experience. Maybe next time I'll eat at the restaurant.
Great portions and very polite staff. The greens had a lot of sugar, and so did the corn bread. Not sure why the Mac and cheese was orange. The best part was the smothered chicken...
Great food great atmosphere great service just an all around great place.
No waiting. Food is always good as is the service. Portion size is good for the price. Made purchase on Thursday, June 11, 2020 still have left overs. Black eyed peas, cabbage and okra, corn and tomatoes are my favorite. I will return very soon.
Excellent service, CORNBREAD, cabbage, and chicken were awesome. The sides need work! The mac and cheese was grainy and the collard greens were slightly bitter. Lastly, they were out of ribs which should not happen on a Saturday at a soul food restaurant!
Excellent food. Generous portions. They know you'll want to take half your food home and eat it tomorrow (and they're right!) so they bring it to you in a portable container. This saves you from having to ask for it.
The service was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The food was fresh, piping hot and so delicious. I had the dinner plate with three sides, I added a fourth side and was just EXTREMELY happy with my visit, enough so to take a dinner home. DELICIOUS...
I'm very hesitant with soul food because there's a fine line between delicious & disgusting.
This food is delicious! If you want to try samples before your purchase you can sample everything.
The service is great! James will take care of you while you enjoy your meal.
Thank you again James & everyone at Dulan's. I will be back.
Great food enough for three days.... a little pricey but worth it.... r.i.p to the owner and much success to the son keep the business going and the quality of the product...
This place is the absolute best. I had smothered pork chop, mac and cheese and dressing. It was amazing. My fiance had the meatloaf he loved it. And the banana pudding was everything. I would definelty go back next time I'm in L.A.
I am always a bit skeptical seeing a cafeteria-style set up and not so many people. However, the food at Dulan's absolutely delivered! Everything was so delicious. I split a baked chicken dinner plate with a friend and was stuffed. Also the peach cobbler is to die for.
I love the people here. I'm speaking of the workers. They make you feel at home. Even though it can get crowded at times, they manage to keep the line moving swiftly. The food is over and above excellent.
Old-fashioned Southern cooking, like your Granny or your Mama made! Friendly, cheerful staff and the owner, Gregory Dulan, personally visited the tables to make sure we were happy; he was "raised right" too! We absconded with the last banana pudding just after 11:30, but their peach cobbler was also QUITE good. Advise you get there early, as there was a line the entire time we were there! They will be expanding to add brunch later this year, and we will definitely return well before that. Oh, and they have patio dining now too! Well worth any drive to get there!
This is the place to eat when you want a home cooked meal. And the portions are unbelievable, DULAN'S makes sure that you will not be hungry after eating one of their Dinner Meals. The main course is fulfilling, but to add on a choice of three sides and two homemade cornbread muffins to go along with the dinner, after that it's time to take a nap. You will have enough for the next day left overs. DULAN'S, I would not have it any other way when it comes down to good Southern Home Cooked meals. If I was able to give them a 6 Star Rating I would. My Daughter and I go all the time, we are life time customers.
First they don't have a kids menu. They ran out of fried
chicken at 6 and said they were not going to cook any more even though they don't close until 9. I could taste sugar in the greens and dressing. They served Basa instead of catfish and charged a lot for it and only gave 2 small pieces they were generous with the sugar sides though. I was very disappointed I have heard great things about this place for years and it did not live up to the hype.
One of l.a.'s finest examples of soul food, and black owned business five stars is a vast under rating. A family outing to this restaurant will feel like a night at Grandma's. They feed you good I never finish in one sitting.
The food is good one of my Mom and her Mom’s favorite (main reasons I patronize the place) The Crenshaw location is my least favorite my last visit was horrific tons of Hungry Big Bodied Women standing in line waiting to place an order in a tiny lobby/eating area where one can over hear customers begging for Extra scoops of this a taste of that all while other patrons are eating in the tiny eating area Customers unruly kids running around screaming laughing and playing (over others attempting to dine peacefully and eat) Mean while Mr Dylan Jr is posing like an old ass model/hood celebrity behind the tiny crowded ass food counter 🤦🏾♀️🙅🏾♀️ like seriously my guy ain’t you got some chicken to fry perhaps you can propose a deal and get some of these walls knocked down in this wee Lil spot or cut a window in a wall for take out orders.... Again if you don’t mind your shoulders being bumped and brushed by Big Hips breast’s and Butts or your feet being stepped on by unruly children by all means this is the dine in experience for you... if not call in and grab it to go.
Good service!! The food however is a different story. I had the Sunday dinner special! Chicken is tasty. Dressing is mushy.. greens are undercooked. MAC was a tad watery. The cornbread was good. The mashed potatoes were good.
Was not happy with my visit here. Staff was unprofessional. When we walked in we wernt greeted but we got to see the server take most of the mac and cheese that was on the serving line while customers are waiting for her daughter. Anyway paid for food a Sunday dinner but was charged but the items that should have been included so 14.50 overcharge. The food itself gave me terrible gas and I threw a majority of it away. So for the 56 dollars I spent it definitely was not worth it and I most likely will not be returning.
I was full off the smoothed chicken... The food is great. Dulan's is a great place to eat at, great customer service & the atmosphere is as well an overall experience you have tp experience for yourself.
The best in town as always. Thank you once again no matter the location you can't go wrong. The portions are great and the food is phenomenal.
The food was excellent you was able to sample the food before you ordered it every thing was good i offer yams green and the short ribs was very tender and the preach cobbler was tho die for i will be going back the next time i visit LA
Excellent is an understatement for Dulan's! The staff are pro and the restaurant is clean as a whistle. But wait, the food? Fantastic. I had the Sunday Dinner and every single thing was delicious from the corn muffins to the black-eyed peas. The peach cobbler was the best I've ever had.
Food was yummy but kind of greasy! The place is small... busy... and they always have a line that starts at the front door. It's like Subway but for soulfood. Meaning, that you tell the person what you want and then proceed to slide down the line. The whole time you are watching behind the glass while they make your plate. I'll give it 4 stars due to a lack of seating (due to it being over crowded) and the grease level of the food. Overall, great experience and I will be back soon! :-)
Probably one of the best places to have soul food on the weekend. Please be aware it is a family style soul food restaurant. That means don't ask for substitutions and enjoy the ride. Everything will take care of itself.
Standard soul food... buffet style with tables to sit. Sweet potato pie to die for. Really good peach cobbler also.
Good, Good, mmm good. I'm from Portland Oregon, here to celebrate a birthday. We were fortunate enough to get some of the best Soul Food at the last minute. Thank you, the smothered chicken over white rice w/ macaroni and cheese, collard greens corn bread and yams.... say no more.
A great soul food option in the area. Some of the best I've had in Los Angeles. Very large portions so you better come hungry.
The food is great. The service is extremely good. Friendly and courteous. It is not unusual to be greeted by the owner himself.
The food was outstanding. The short ribs were fresh and tasty. The food portions were perfect. The mac n cheese was great in every element. The greens were good. The yams were the perfect amount of sweetness. It reminded me of a good old fashioned home cooked meal.
GREAT FOOD! The severing was plentiful. The staff was amazing and friendly. I wish I has a picture to show. From now on this will be my first stop when I fly in through LAX.
Yummy! This was my first time eating from here I saw them on Google and I placed an order to go and 15 minutes later it was ready the lady at the front was so nice and she was so helpful should've asked her name. But the Fried Chicken was crunchy with white juicy meat the mac and cheese was so flavorful and cheesy the yams were sweet to the perfection and I just love the cornbread the sweet tea is a must-have I should have ordered three cups LOL the best sweet tea I have purchased from a restaurant by far they also have Rewards each time you visit you can get a stamp on your loyalty card I thought that was so awesome I definitely will be returning thank you Dulan's team! My tummy is happy .
I was double charged for two meals because the employee wasn't sure if the first transaction went thru although it did. The charge will be reversed but their employees need to learn how to reverse charges instead of having to wait for someone who does.
Overall, the food is excellent and plentiful. I can eat one meal in two sittings.
Was in the Los Angeles area and wanted some soul food. Found this place on google. I have to say I was not disappointed. The staff was very friendly. The portion were generous and prices are reasonable. I had smothered pork chops, greens, mac and cheese Delicious!!!. I dined in but ordered to go meals to take to my family. If your ever in Los Angeles area this is a great place to eat.
Before heading back to the Bay, the hubby and I went to Dulan's for a bite to eat. It was Sunday, so they opened at 11am. We arrived at 1030, mad early, as we planned to eat somewhere else. We followed suit of the regulars and stood in line. There were only 3 people ahead of us, so we didn't have to wait to get in.
My husband's order came quickly. He had smothered chicken, cornbread dressing, string beans and mac and cheese. He was getting down on it too. I ordered fried fish, which is made to order so it was 20 minutes for my meal. They give you so much food, one meal feeds two people. For the Sunday price, you get a good deal. My husband ate half of his meal and couldn't eat anymore. I couldn't meet the 1/2 way mark. There was soooo much food.
There's a parking lot and plenty of street parking. There weren't as many people as I had imagined (per the reviews). The staff kept the line moving pretty quickly. The food wasn't overly spicy or seasoned or greasy, which worked for me.
Where do I start with the praise for the experience I just had? The food was delicious and the service fantastic.
The staff that took the orders and dished up the food were friendly, efficient, and fast.
When we went to sit, James went above and beyond making sure our group had everything needed to enjoy our stay.
He sang the Stevie Wonder version of the Happy Birthday song along with my group and then came over and warmly wished me many more. I left full, satisfied, and happy.
Please bring this magic to Seattle! I fly out tomorrow and will be snacking on my leftovers with a smile.
After two weeks in the UK, bland food daily. With a head cold and a desire for some comfort food I made my way to Dulan's. I had fried chicken lunch special, with Mac n cheese and collard greens. I chose the pineapple coconut cake for dessert. All delicious. I forgot to snap pics but I will be back. Yummy in my tummy .
After church on Sundays, my favorite dish is the turkey wings that are only served on Sundays. I feel it is important to support this Iconic and community serving organization. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I miss seeing the stunning Mr. Adolf that used to greet us , A owner, but it's such a treat to experience the legacy of Dulan's in several locations in Los Angeles as well.
Wow. Yes, sir! This place lives up to all the respect it gets around town. Everybody knows Dulans, so i was excited to try it. It does not disappoint! I got fried chicken lunch with red beans and green beans. Those green beans are so good. Its a nice size helping by the way. Comes with two of some tasty cornbread buns too. Good thing i got a loyalty card!
This place has been here for many years. It used to be great about 15 years ago. It's definitely not the Dulan's of old. They Never have the condiments you need and the food is not prepared with pride any more. I will give the staff credit for being friendly and efficient.
We got the smothered pork chops, the short ribs were sold out. The plate came with TWO pork chops, 3 very generous sized sides, and 2 corn bread muffins. Everything was amazing. And the gravy on those mashed potatoes was so so so good. We're stuffed and happy. And everyone was super friendly. Paris was sweet as can be.
Bomb food!:) just came here with my husband because of hype going around his job about this place. I can sincerely say that it lives up to the expectations:) the mac and cheese is amazing:) the short ribs are honestly the best!!! Will recommend to everyone💗
Im eating the food and man the food is amazingly tasteful!!!! Worth the buck. The fish is good. The mashed potatoes are awesome. The Mac n cheese is divine. The yams are filling me up!!!! God has given earth a piece of heaven.
Anyone who has a negative comment about this place.. Either Can't cook this good.. Is a competitor in the area.. Or is a straight up hater.. Everything on the menu is 💣🔥🔥🔥on point.. Oh my!.. So, so good!.. Thank you for a flavorful.. mouthwatering.. epic meal.. My taste buds salute you!
I ate there for lunch...WOW! GREAT tasting food, and folks were genuinely friendly and made me feel welcome. I didn't feel rushed to eat and go. I left with a smile on my face.
I heard so many good things about Dulan's and it lived up to it's reputation. The food was delicious and enough for two or three meals. The staff and managers were also very friendly. I'll be back.
If you're looking for well seasoned reasonably priced food this is it. The staff is also very friendly. Definitely recommend it!
Everything was good.. I highly recommend Dulan's if you every in Cali check them out.. I'm from Chicago, IL and I love soul food but everybody soul food ain't good but I most say its was delicious.. they give you a decent amount portions and the greens were a lil sweet but good & the mac & cheeses really good too & omg the banana pudding is to die for.. Dulan's was the last stop in Cali before heading home and it was the right choice
The food is always fresh and delicious. I purchased a fish lunch and it was excellent. Fried to perfection and my sides of greens and yams were good as well. The staff is friendly and professional. The establishment is always clean and I particularly enjoy the outdoor dining patio. This is my go to place for good Soul Food.
So glad we made the decision to come here!
Everything was absolutely delicious. From the fried chicken to the stuffing...THE YAMS...MY GOODNESS (some of the best I've ever had hands down) Let's not forget the sweet tea and lemonade mixed...WHEWWW!
We dined in and the experience was very pleasant. Felt like a huge Sunday Dinner with family🥰
Our waiter JAMES was so nice and on top of everything. Very cool guy👍🏾
Yes I recommend a thousand percent 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I honestly was not a fan of the location I went to. I loved the feel of this being a space for the Black community to eat. However, I wasn't really taken by the food. It was pretty okay. The fried chicken was underwhelming, the collard greens and cornbread were pretty good, and the rice and gravy were fine. But the mac and cheese was so disappointing. It looked so great in the restaurant, but the 2 bites I had were enough for me.I wouldn't go there again, but it was an experience. The $20 meal I got was for a family not one person.
The food didn't have any taste. I traveled over 2,000 miles to visit the Golden State and found this place on Google based on reviews. Being from the South, I was happy to see a few soul food places in the area, but now I wish I had gone somewhere else. Again, tasteless food, drinks weren't included with high price meals and the people behind the counter were rude af! Taking calls in the middle of checking someone out, taking their sweet time to fix plates, chewing gum and not even being friendly and greeting customers. The only good thing about this place was there sweet old man who cleared the table and the clean restrooms. Don't eat here if you're from the south and want actual good food and great customer service. A waste!
I had some visitors visiting from out of town. I was supposed to.welcime them with a homecooked meal. Well, I did a lot of prepping for their arrival and itinerary for their three-day sightseeing. That I was too tired to cook. My dinner if I had cooked it would have probably cost $30-40. But instead, I ordered each individual a meal of their choice. Yeah, it was an expensive meal but a great decision and everyone enjoyed the Soul food. They want to order again before they leave and pay for their own meals. Thanks, Dulan's for having such delicious food.
If you have plans to eat at this particular establishment... the best day to go is on Sunday... to get more bang for your buck ...you get your entree with three sides, dessert and you get ice tea all for $19.95
Everything was delicious! We went on Sunday and got the 19.99 special and it was worth every penny. We sat in the back and watched the game and it was a nice dining area with a screened in patio off it
My kid had to go to the bathroom after eating the food. I was fine. The smothered chicken, the cornbread was good. Huge portions. Also the 4 people behind the counter completely ignored me, didn’t even greet. I was waiting for at least one of them to come up, there was no line. I almost left. Disappointed after seeing many good reviews! Will not be going again though. Customer service is as important as the food.
Good food, substantial portions, fast walk up service. I suggest you examine the menu online before showing up as offerings change by the day and there is an unspoken expectation that you know what you want when you get in line. The train station is being built right out front and I expect the lines will double when that happens. Go now and get in while the gettin' is good!
The two women at the register gave 5 people refills before clocking out and telling me someone else would take my cash. When I got my food the was no corn muffin. I had to go back inside to wait for cornbread..when I got back to my sweet tea the ice was all melted which is initially why I came here. Will not be back.. *food was hot
Dulan's: Being from the south it's a must that a visit Dulan's while in LA. It never disappoints me. This time I had smothered pork chops which were delicious. The cornbread is always absolutely amazing! I had the greens and dressing, again thumbs up and mac and cheese. Unfortunately the mac and cheese had paprika or something in it which wasn't a hit for me but wasn't nasty...just not my favorite seasoning. The tea&lemonade was great. Of course I will be visiting again on my next trip.
It's become a special place for me and my wife, we love the food and the people are pleasant. Employees are 5 stars in themselves. Dylan's is no way tight with the serving 😊
I may just be nitpicky about this place, but here goes my review.
I can't say that I was a huge fan of the food, that being said I did enjoy their baked fish. I thought the seasoning was great. Their cornbread was also very tasty and moist.
Customer service was just okay, in fact, it seemed that the server/cashier was a bit annoyed the fact that we were unsure of what we wanted to purchase. Which I guess is understandable, but at the same time we are paying customers and a bit of patience would have been appreciated. The place was not very busy either. That being said, I would recommend if you plan to visit this establishment, research the online beforehand.
I was unaware that their mac and cheese is made with egg. if you do not enjoy runny eggs or poached eggs, I would steer away from the mac and cheese because you can definitely taste the egg. Other than that their mac and cheese was very cheesy and had a nice thick layer of cheese on top.
I did not taste their sweet tea, but I can tell you that their lemonade was not made fresh, it is definitely machine made.
The place was clean, including the restrooms.
Unfortunately, they don't have a private parking lot so be prepared to find parking on the streets.
They accept credit cards as well.
Finally, portions are huge! I do not eat much, my portion could have definitely fed me lunch for 3 days.
Great options, giant portions, and usually a line! The fried fish is made when ordered. Lots of options for comfort food but also options for veggies. Get the banana pudding if it's available, you won't regret it. Only downside is you have to know what you want when you get in line. They write your order on the box to go. You can't order while in line and looking at the options. So check out what they have and what looks good before you get in line or bring a buddy so they can stand in line while you check out what looks good.
Just deliciousness! The food and service was 5 stars! Generous portions and greeted warmly when we entered. Food was still hot when we got home! Will definitely visit again when in town! Peach cobbler was so good!
Delicious! Fried chicken not greasy at all and the baked chicken is just as yummy. Mashed potatoes were a little runny but very tasty. We had collard greens, cornbread dressing, mac n cheese, and corn with okra and everything was very delicious. The cornbread muffins were the best I've had. The line goes a little slow but the service is great, everyone is very nice. Overall it was a nice yummy experience and we will definitely go back, but this time we want to try the ox tails that looked sooo goood!! 🤤
Worse experience ever! After hearing so many great things about this place I had to try it out for myself. However this was by far the worse place to go on my opinion. Not only did they let customers skip line in front of you, I brought it to the attention of the worker who acted as if she wanted to rectify the situation and get another lady to assist me. Not only did they put my plate behind several plates Including the customers they let skip. When asked to speak to a manager no one cared to find out exactly what was going on a professional manner. ALL employees continued working. If this is the type of business you run I would rather not support. I left with nothing including my intentions of never returning!
So this was my second time attempting to eat here. Ordered short rib, got some form of beef. When we called in to ask WHAT THE HELL they gave us, the lady on the phone said "our kind of short rib"! What does that mean? It means basically they need to stop false advertising and just say baked beef, not short rib! I'm done with them. Oh, my cabbage was hard as heck too! And the customer service was HORRIBLE! I guess getting all the church's Sunday money is not good enough to get treated right!
Worth the money. You get a lot. Can last me 2 1/2 days. Smothered short ribs was good along with rice & gravy, collard greens, yams and corn muffins. Peach cobbler was great.
I appreciate they give a lot of food. So you can get full. But, the "OXTAILS" today were not tender enough. Hard to chew with partials. Very sweet, kind people though. I would like to go back again.
What a disappointment, a lot of money for disappointment. The food is not flavorful. Mac and cheese....what was that. You will do better cooking at home. I don't understand the hype, and it's not my first time here. I usually just eat cabbage and cornbread if I do come here. Cabbage is not all that great either. the best thing so far is the lemonade and the cornbread muffins.
Huge portions, definitely well worth the price. Staff is absolutely amazing. Great service.
First time here and we will be back! We had the family meal with smothered chicken and three large sides plus corn bread! The smothered chicken is some of the best we ever had and the mac and cheese is delicious! We also had a slice of sweet potato pie and it was bomb! We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu and sides! Also the corn bread and candied yams are amazing! Top notch food and service👍🏾
The food is DELICIOUS and HEALTHY. In addition, the customer service was phenomenal. The WHEAT pita bread is tasty and the HOT SAUCE is SPICY how I like it. I ate the chicken and beef kabobs with rice and salad. The meat is tender. ALL the food is seasoned well. I highly recommend this restaurant. TWO THUMBS NORTH!
Awesome food. I ordered the Dubai Mix (I think)and was splendid. We were 4 people and ordered 2 platters with fries and there was lots of food. And taste was one of the best gyros we had on our short LA trip.
Everything on the menu is really good. The ox tail is by far the best ox tail I've had in a while. I always go here when I'm anywhere near Crenshaw. Never get tired of coming here after all these years. (ox tail dinner with mac n cheese, collard greens, cabbage, and cornbread muffins.)
Delicious Dulan's Soul Food and cheese!! We took our kids here while in the city because they love Dulan's Soul Food and cheese. It's pretty pricey, but very delicious. From the looks of it, the portions don't look very big, but they are quite hefty, and could definitely serve two people from one dish. We ordered two regular macs for the kids, with shell noodles and the traditional cheese. They came with extra cheese on top that had been broiled for a bit.
The food was great. Could not get through to pre-order. But it did not take to long to order and get food at restaurant. Check your order before leaving. They missed putting one of my side dish in bag.
Only recently heard about Dulan's and glad I did! Chicken dinner was delicious and service was super friendly! Fried chicken was excellent. Reminded me of my childhood in Alabama.
My 1st time here. The fried chicken and corn bread were good but the greens and green beans was not that good. Three stars because I found a bunch of big egg shell pieces in my muffins. Still willing to give it another try.
honestly....disappointing. The cornbread was burnt x2, this was the worse (like actually) Mac and cheese I’ve ever bought. Noodles were overcooked, cheese was......nacho? Just nasty. Grilled chicken wasn’t seasoned well. If you live out of state, don’t go here. You’ll paid $15 and have a lot of food you don’t want to eat.
A tad pricey, but absolutely delicious. I'm salivating before and after this meal. Short Ribs with gravy and rice. Sides candied yams, black eyes peas, corn & okra and collard greens. Be patient because it's busy and support the community. Enjoy!
One of the first places that I get more than enough delicious food for my money. The food and staff are great. Fish, Greens and Mac n Cheese that's my plate. Experts.
Went to this place and waited outside in line for 30 mins so I just knew the food would be great. Got to the door there were flies everywhere. They were out of Yams, Rice, Peach cobbler, banana pudding, sweet potato pie..But i ordered 5 meals.. when i ordered i was told I had to wait a few mins for chicken.. at 6:14 I paid.. i was given 2 meals and told to wait for the other 3.. someone came out at 6:40 to tell me that now there was no mac and cheese and I needed to pick another side.. went to get my money back then all of a sudden if I wait 5 mins there will be mac and cheese and yams so I said okay! By 7:00 I still had no food and no explanation... i went in to get my money back and they were making trays with mac and cheese and yams and chicken for people that arrived long after my family.. horrible customer service and not a care in the world
The quality delicious taste definitely compliments the quality service you'll receive behind the nose blinding soul food,
I ordered short ribs with collard greens, yams, macaroni and cheese. The short ribs were very tender. The bay leaf enhanced the flavor. The collard greens had a hint of sugar. I didn't enjoy the yams because the tasted canned and the macaroni and cheeses was a little dry. Overall Dulan's On Crenshaw is an excellent soul food eatery and the dishes are priced well with huge portions.
I love the food at Dulan’s, along with the service. I’m craving the oxtails and dressing right now! So yummy! I’m counting down to the weekend so I can go back and enjoy my favorites on my cheat day this month😍
You can smell the deliciousness as you drive by, that alone should give you reason to stop. The portions are big so I'd recommend the lunch combo with 2 sides. The fried chicken with greens & mac & cheese are amazing! I'd also recommend the fried fish, mashed potatos, black eyed peas & peach cobbler. If you ordered ahead you can wait at their pick up window around the corner from Crenshaw entrance.
My friends and I went and we did not enjoy it at all. I'm not sure what seasoning they use but, meatloaf wasn't done n the middle, macaroni cheese was overcooked, and I don't know what they did to them damn greens, but they were NASTY. This place is a waste of MONEY🤮
Had to go back for my sides. I cant believe they were written in the box and not in the box. Short ribs weren't tender today. Usually pretty good food. I dont think ill eat there on Sundays anymore.
A longer drive but a shorter wait than the Dulan's on Manchester.
Amazing food and great service. I only wish I lived closer
Great as always, turkey wings & short ribs were 🔥
My family and I have been going to Dulan’s for over 15 years, even after relocating from the area! Giving this rating is painfully, but hopefully a wake up call! This pandemic is no excuse for the downgrade of your meats! Competition is real, There are plenty of places in the area people can order from and receive higher quality food. If it means, cutting back on the portions in exchange for better quality meats, then so be it! Go back to the values that made your business successful. Figure it out and do something with your cooks because, they are sabotaging your business!
Came in today with my brother and friends, and let me tell you ... we were treated like real MVP's from the staff to the owner.
