A terrible experience, I will never visit another Double Tree franchised hotel again. The staff were rude when confronted about them selling us a two bed room, for the price of two rooms, and then only giving us one. We didn't make reservations, we paid for the room in advance. I'm not sure who the staff that thought it was amusing for our misfortune were, but, they acted like they didn't care, and even laughed a little at are utmost unfortunate predicament. We couldn't get any sleep due to their own incompetence. When we called the general "manager", we didn't get anyone but someone who once again, didn't care, and was not the district manager. Their was no compensation for the incompetence of their lackluster staff, and unpreparedness after selling us a room. I would strongly advise not to visit this hotel. Thanks for ruining our sleep, the one thing you actually pay for. You couldn't even come through on your one purpose. Honestly, who thinks sticking four people in one bed was a good idea?
You'd be better off going to a motel, at least they can come through on giving you a proper place to sleep.
Day 1 - hotel smelled like mold - like BLACK MOLD, Restaurant - you wouldn't expect any better coming from trash NJ-Garbage fast-food converted to be a restaurant .
Day 1 - Hotel room - smelled like cigarettes in a smoke free hotel
Day 1 - Received new room
Day 2 - Woke up at 0600 due to fire alarm - possible pranks:Waking up my newborn -screaming with fear - noted from other hotel guest - happen 2 nights in a row
Day 2- Coming back to my horrible breakfast and notice the middle elevator had smoke coming from it - My question why did the fire alarm did not go off? and why was their no fire department called? you wake up us up for a prank at 0600 but for a real event you risk the life's of the hotel customers?
Day 3 Left for the day came back at 5pm - room not cleaned - well they made some attempt on emptying the trash cans but no shes, nothing picked up nothing.. Made a complaint to the management - same routine bs talk on being sorry.
Day 4 Left for the day came back at 3:30 pm to make sure the room was clean before the hotel cleaners has left for the day at 5pm.. Hotel room not cleaned - Made my complaint to the management - Came back to the room at 5:00 pm and the room bed sheets was done with the old used sheets - cleaning supplies left in the bathroom - hotel room still dirty - tried calling management placed on hold for 15 minutes - gave up.
Day 5 left the hotel -
This hotel ruined my vacation - reminding me of living in a barracks.. well at least the barracks would be clean..
My favorite hotel in Virginia Beach for the price. Always great rates, friendly staff, and just a few minutes from the ocean. Fighter jets fly over the hotel, but I absolutely love it! It's so cool to see and doesn't keep me up at night like other people say. I stay at this hotel for business 3 nights a week every 2 weeks. Don't forget your fresh cookie at check-in ;). Thank you for the great home away from home, DoubleTree! Keep up the great work, and the remodel looks great!
HORRIBLE! Construction at the main entrance makes you use a side entrance and you must go down a very dark hallway with slippery plastic on the floor to go too and from it. The water kept going very cold and very hot. Mechanical noises were heard in our room all night long from other rooms. The heating/cooling unit in our room was very loud all night too. Then let's top it off with the hotel double authorizing charges onto our bank card! The 'excuse' given was that the computers were down and the charges were manually entered 2x in error. It took us 2 days, a trip to our bank and several phone calls to get this 'fixed'. But the hotel will not accept liability for charges we incurred! Claiming its not their fault we didn't have enough money. We had PLENTY of money ... until YOU authorized charges in error! We were out of town for a funeral and this just added to the stress. The general manager called me and was so very rude! Very demeaning and down right mean. I called the corp office and a supervisor claimed she would call him and see if something could be done but they can't make him do anything. After being on hold over 45 minutes I hung up. And of course no phone call back and no email back.
Really happy with stay. Staff was outgoing, beds are great. Room service was prompt. Would recommend and stay again. Clean and well maintained.
We booked 2 rooms online and didn't find out later that we were charged an extra room because one of the reservation did not go trough. We wanted out money back but they won't give it back. Worst experience ever.
The room was very nice and the entire hotel was clean. There were always hotel staff greeting you with a smile and warm cookies. The restaurant on site was excellent. My only complaint was the adjoining room door allowed a lot of noise from my neighbor to seep through, which also made it uncomfortable when making phone calls back home (knowing full well someone else could hear). Overall it was a nice stay.
First things first, there's no fan in the bathroom, so everyone will hear you poop (maybe even your neighbors! Walls are thin!) Check in was smooth and they gave us warm cookies when we arrived (seriously). Clean room, soft carpet. Breakfast is outrageous, $12 for hot buffet. Bathroom is OK. Two bed room is pretty small. Nothing remarkable at all. Glad I didn't have to spend much time in it. Adequate is the best description. Except for the cold showers. No lie, every shower I took was not even approaching hot. The shower also made a crazy lawnmower kinda sound. Also unfortunate is the tiny tiny fitness area. There are a handful of treadmills and one bench and a couple cable machines. The in house restaurant was OK. SLOW for our big group. This place is right next to the conference center in town - a five minute walk (don't need to cross any streets) or shuttle. That's nice, but not much of a view or anything. Planes going overhead constantly are super loud. Last year the conference I visited was in Denver and I stayed at a Sheraton. It really blew this out of the water. But again, adequate. It's clean.
My wife and I have been attending the New Year's Eve gala for three years. The food has been inconstant to say the least. This year it seems they also added another table or two to the banquet room and it mad it very difficult and possibly unsafe to navigate in and out of the room. The servers acted and appeared to be street kids. Prior years have included professional servers. I tried to cancel our tickets for this year due to being stuck at the O'Hare airport three full days prior to the event, but the General Manager said they can make no exceptions without seven days advance notice. Keep in mind it's well known there is a waiting list for people to attend the event. He did say he can cancel our reservation with no refund and call others to take our spot. Needless to say I will not be attending next year. My $300.00 will be spent on a better planned event with better service. Being a returning customer to this event for three years in a row and what I have experienced this year, is in a word, unacceptable. I would not recommend this event to anyone.
Had a great time. Hostess at the desk was friendly, fine and can get it that work
Gala was wonderful, decorated beautifully, food was very good. Great venue and staff.
Location is great. Few minutes from the beach. Clean rooms. Max and Erma's connected to hotel. Slow service. Stayed Thursday and a Friday.
I stayed overnight due to a business trip. I checked in late, around 10:30 and the restaurant was about to close at 11 but the front desk team was quite helpful and made several suggestions for places to eat. We checked out some restaurants on the beach but most were closed at that time. The beach is very close to the hotel, though. Unfortunately we weren't close to the places we needed to be. It was about 15 minutes away from the hotel and that's where food and retailers are located. There wasn't anything like that that I saw near the hotel. But the room was very nice. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was very accommodating.
Stayed overnight at the oceanfront for the Jimmy Buffett show. The hotel has been recently renovated and everything with the room and public spaces was nice. Staff was very friendly and Max & Erma's was very comfortable.
Attended a wedding here. The staff were great. We had cocktail hour in the lobby, which had no room and not enough furniture. The ballroom was accommodating and the room looked nice and new.
Great location and pricing. Only downside was that our shower only put out hot water... which did not agree with the sunburn I got on the beach. The plus side was the lotion that was in the room was very nice for the sunburn
It was a great stay! Very comfortable. Delightful staff. Every hiccup we encountered (like not getting our room service and fire alarm going off early in the morning) they did their best to make it up to us. I'd stay again.
Didn't spend a lot of time in my room, but it was nice and clean. Parking was free and plentiful. The cookies were a nice touch. Front desk was friendly, greeted me on my way in and out each time. Request for an extra blanket came quickly. The shower seemed to have problems getting hot enough, and the AC was a noisy single unit instead of a central control, but that's my only complaint.
Comfortable bed. Courteous staff. Decent restaurant attached. Walking distance from convention center.
The rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Hurricane Matthew made the stay interesting as there was some areas that leaked, but the staff handled it very well with little I if any disruption to the guests. Additionally, the hotel had great generators and we kept power and water during the storm. Overall, a pleasant experience.
I highly recommend this hotel. The staff was friendly, the hotel was clean. Parking was excellent. When I needed something I got it right away. The staff at the front deak were very nice and helpful. i have no complaints at all. I enjoyed my stay.
Super friendly staff, VERY clean rooms, super comfy beds, clean bathrooms. Classy place to stay. My husband and I found a great deal on last minute Priceline and were very excited to stay here. Highly recommend!
This hotel is excellent. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. On multiple occasions i requested extra towels, cookies, etc. and they were all delivered quickly and with a smile. The shuttle to the beach is always very prompt and a great convenience. The room is clean and well designed. Would love to stay here again.
Visited this location for a bridal expo. Lots of parking available and the decor inside was beautiful and elegant. Staff were also very helpful.
Service was good rooms were nice and cozy
I attended a professional event with meetings, lectures and 2 meals. I did not stay overnight. Everything was very good. The hotel itself was extremely clean and well maintained. No noticeable dirt or blemishes anywhere. The food was above average for this type of event. We had roast beef and salmon in dill sauce. Both were positively commented on by the attendees. The large conference room was quiet and comfortable. The audio and projection system was effective and we'll adjusted. Really, I have no complaints at all. The location was even highly convenient. Right off the highway and driving against rush hour traffic both ways.
I was in a wedding at the Hilton and they were so good to the wedding party. Really an accommodating staff. Gorgeous building. The Max and Erma's downstairs is great!
Hotel has great staff. Very helpful and welcoming. Had an initial issue with digital check-in, but resolved in less than a minute. All of the folks at the front desk and in the restaurant were excellent.
Clean and really open. It did smell like chlorine quite a bit in the lobby. Had 2 different bartenders, one was awesome, the other not so much. The one didn't pour much liquor and wasn't going to give me any of my change. If I get little liquor on a 7 dollar drink, I'm not going to give you 3 dollars for a tip
We stayed here for a gymnastics meet that was held at the convention center. It was perfect for what we needed. Great food at Max & Erma's, a warm indoor pool, super comfortable beds, and walking distance to the meet.
The staff was helpful and friendly. During the event I was attending they were constantly clearing tables without appearing to get in anyone's way. The rooms and common areas were all very clean.
This hotel has surpassed all of my expectations and the staff is very courteous. They also have free cookies!
Beautiful hotel, located right next to the Convention Center where we also attended an event. Warm delicious cookies available when you want one!
I did not stay overnight here, but was here for a business meeting over a couple days. Staff was very professional and friendly. Place was clean and well organized. The restaurant attached was decent, with good food and good service.
Clean hotel right near all the major attractions at the beach. Overall they were accommodating and the staff was friendly enough. Decent option for the value in the area.
Nice hotel, facilities. Counter people professional. Made reservation at discount group rate, Meeting with banquet for 165 people). Reserved with wrong credit card, my fault. Card declined, hotel emailed me, I did not get it. Called back day before to make sure no problem, informed reservation was cancelled. Had to make new reservation at more than double the rate, original group rate "expired". Asked to get the group rate, refused. Hotel was within policy, but unyielding to customer satisfaction. Had I not made a mistake, and had seen the email, they would have received the group rate anyway. It was my fault but would have cost them nothing to extend the rate, and I would be a grateful customer. I instead am unhappy, even though it was my fault. They missed a chance to be gracious, and gain my gratitude and future business. They now have neither.
Location is nice and secluded. Very quite. rooms were great. The beds very comfortable. The towels are scratchy, but its not that big of a deal. The service is nice. I asked for another comforter, and got it right away.
Very nice hotel. Very clea. Good location for a non-oceanfront hotel but can easily drive to the beach. Very friendly staff. Would have given 5 stars but wifi does not work well. Very slow if you can even get connected. The room air conditioning is very loud!
The staff is fantastic. So friendly and helpful. Ben had such a calm friendly demeanor it was fantastic. And the warm cookies were perfect after the drive. The rooms were clean and smelled nice, even on the pet floor. My pup even got a treat when we checked in. Their concierge is very sweet and helpful. She made me laugh. I went down the her open house and was treated so well. I highly recommend Double tree to all my friends with canine companions, and even the ones without.
So far, so good. Clean quiet hotel. Within waking distance of the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Wish it had a covered walkway like the Embassy Suites does at the Hampton Convention Center. Rooms feel more recent than the Double tree in Williamsburg. Expensive if you're not getting the convention rate. Max and Erma's is the restaurant that is in the hotel. Breakfast is reasonable if you skip the buffet. Only downside is that you have to display a parking pass, so if it's raining, check-in first then park. Another downside is that one set of stairs doesn't go out or even down to second floor (employee access only). That lack of a proper emergency exit concerns me.
I'm a normal guy MIDDLE class guy and in my opinion this is a really nice hotel. The room is nice beds are comfy. I didn't expect much but this is a really nice hotel.
The staff was all very accommodating and friendly. Max and Ermas on site restaurant was a present surprise, even though it only had mediocre reviews on Trip Advisor, i personally really enjoyed it and ate there several times in the 6 days i stayed there. Beds where soft and good.
The only down side is that the air force jets are constantly flying over on their approach to land at the near by base. They are VERY loud, but id imagine this is unavoidable in the 19th street area. I did not have the same experience at the Hilton Garden Inn when i stayed last year but they are a couple miles up the beach.
Overall i would definitely recommend it attending the convention center, otherwise i would stay away due to the noise.
First time staying here. I loved the walnut cookie that they give you at check in. Wish they gave me more. I would buy them. Room was good though down side was that there was no microwave. Every hotel i been there is always a microwave. Called front desk for one but they said they had run out. Did not like buffet too expensive for simple things. And service was slow.
Location was good. Staff at check-in counter (Melissa) was super nice. She welcomed us with cookies. Cleanliness was okay.
It was too pricey for what we got. Breakfast was not included. There was no free WiFi. Bathroom had a broken ceiling. Room service was too eager to make our room ready for the next occupants - she came twice knocking on our door (while we were getting ready) just to make sure we were checking out on time!
Had an awesome stay with a large family group. Staff was great. We all felt right at home. I rented a room for breakfast and it went very well. I am still confused about billing. Est. Was 800.00 to be paid after deposit. Somehow final bill after deposit was 1300.00 that was a big difference and there were NO changes to what was estimated. Would love an explaination that actually made sense .
This hotel is a nice convenient place since we're attending a function at the VA Beach Convention Center next door but it would definitely not be a first choice for a vacation. The rooms need updating, specifically in the bathrooms. The staff is super nice and helpful and assist with every request as every Hilton brand employee does, which is why I'm a Hilton Honors and HGVC member/owner.
they have a shuttle to and from the beach which was awesome. unfortunately they did not have rooms with 2 queen beds which sucked. I stayed here with my infant daughter and 3 other adults so there was barely enough room on the double beds. I would come back here if it was just me, hubby, and baby and get a king size bed suite or something. the food at the restaurant is REALLY good. Pool was nice. Bathroom was kind of small but not a big deal. Overall i would recommend staying here
The staff is fantastic. So friendly and helpful. Ben had such a calm friendly demeanor it was fantastic. And the warm cookies were perfect after the drive. The rooms were clean and smelled nice, even on the pet floor. My pup even got a treat when we checked in.
Nice and clean hotel. Housekeeping people were very accommodating to our needs of extra towels and extra bedding. The breakfast place staff were also very friendly and the buffet was good. Some ladies at the front office are quite stuck up. Wish they would greet the guests with smile rather than with a robotic facade.
Real friendly staff. The rooms are a bit small and the showers are nice. The room comes with a small fridge. No microwave in the room, but there are two in the lobby for everyone to use. There is a mid size pool and a gym. Their deal breaker for me are the complimentary cookies. There is a restaurant in the hotel that serves good food. The hotel is about a mile away from the beach so you can get a little exercise or take their shuttle van there, which runs every half hour until 10 pm.
THE BEST HOTEL IN VA BEACH!!! I can't even begin to explain how accommodating this hotel was for my stay during my birthday celebration. Everyone from the GM down to the hospitality staff was so sweet and very helpful. The greeting I received at the front desk was amazing!!! They made me feel special like I was a queen for my birthday. They even went so far as to set up and welcome basket with Champagne for me that was totally unexpected and Beautiful. I will always stay at this hotel when I visit VA Beach for the great location to the beach and the best customer service I received EVER from a Hotel. I couldn't recommended this place more. Thank you again for making my Birthday Special!!!
Great hotel, 1 mile to the beach walking! The staff was so helpful, and on it when you needed anything! The rooms are clean, and the beds are so comfortable! Love the fact that they are pet friendly with a low rate per night! Their prices are also extremely reasonable! They also have a max and ermas restaurant on the first floor which makes it convenient for a quick bite! I would recommend this hotel to friends and will definitely be back!
Stayed in the King Acc. last night, absolutely loved hotel and would have given 5 stars if not for the bed. What a cruel box to place into a room and call it a bed it felt more like a cardboard box with fluffy stuff all over it. :(
Otherwise the room was fantastic, staff was amazing and the cookies are great! Maybe it's time to replace that mattress!
Room was nice and comfortable and check in staff was wonderful. All three Elevators were broken on our second night and security asked us to walk up to our room. Children running and slamming doors all evening, although not the hotels fault just annoying. We were not permitted to use our Hilton Honors because of booking thru a third party. At checkout we were asked if we enjoyed our stay, we stated it was not one of the best. She said, “well thank you have a good weekend”. Overall Hilton is one of our favorite but this experience was not the best.
The hotel is clean, though it could use some updates. The staff is friendly. The hotel is in a great location; within walking distance of the convention center and the beach. There are constantly fighters flying over, I love it but apparently some don't. (You can see one in the photo, super cool!). Being in the 11th floor and it being November, I had a gorgeous view of the fall colors.
We had a work Christmas party here and it was awesome. The staff was friendly and fast. The facility was clean and pretty. And the food was amazing. We had a great time
The TV was unplugged with the cord behind the cabinet. When maintenance dug out the cord, they unplugged the refrigerator. So no refrigerator for the night. We asked for an extended checkout and they would not do it without moving us to another room. They said that the room was already booked for today. The hotel is no more than half booked, so that is a BS answer. The accommodations are very nice, but the hotel is not very accommodating. The restaurant is extremely overpriced. Food is decent. We are Hilton Honors and are used to better hotel stays than this.
Overall we enjoyed our stay very much. The lobby was very beautiful. Wine/food was a little over priced, but pretty average hotel prices. The hotel had a shuttle running to and from our event. The beds were very comfortable along with the desk chair and arm chair. Room was very clean. Honestly, my only complaint is the fact they use angel soft for toliet paper, but that's just me being picky.
Rooms are nice. The bed is comfortable. Bathroom is a bit small. No microwave in room. Door handle seems old and squeaky. Areas in the bathroom and around A.C. unit does not look like a professional repair job. Only 4 stars because of bathroom size.
Located just next to convention center where our boy had gymnastic competition is truly convenient. We did not check their pet policy before hands -- they do allow dogs less than 75 lbs -- or we would have brought our GSD alone with us. Nice firm bed is a plus to my bad back!
The rooms are great. Staff is friendly and prompt. The only complaint from me is that in the shower the upper seal lines to the ceiling are aged. Other than that I give it a 99/100
Very cooperative, friendly and friendly front desk staff. The buffet breakfast in the restaurant was outstanding and a bargain. The wait staff there was also great. I enjoyed a good lunch in the bar. The bar could use some more craft beers, of which VA has several, instead of the junk beers (Coors, Bud, Miller ). Every part of the hotel was very clean. A very pleasant stay.
The staff was very welcoming from the moment we walked in. The Manager, I believe his name is Paul, welcomed my family with fresh cookies and an honest smile. Our room was absolutely amazing. The views were amazing. My kids enjoyed themselves. It was an amazing 24 hour getaway.
I attended a baby shower in one of their event rooms. The room was decorated beautifully by the staff and the table settings were elegant. A brunch was provided by the hotel which was delicious, I went for seconds. The hotel staff removed plates as guest were finished and refilled drinks as needed. It was a lovely experience.
They screwed up our room. We reserved a double and the put us in a single room with one bed. We went to the front desk and they did move us to a double room. We just got a call from the front desk saying we are being charged for a late check out. I guess this explains the lack of maid service.
WE PAID FOR TWO MORE NIGHTS! We have a second room for the rest of our party part. Also a double with one coffee cup and no coffee.
The people at the desk are very friendly if not accurate. We needed maintenance and they were less than jovial and not helpful. Not a good experience and I will not be back.
Seemed really clean and the rooms were in order. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Although we couldn't see the ocean, it's really close to access. Overall a good hotel.
Lovely lobby, nice rooms. Love the mini fridge! Easy close access for the convention center, and only minutes away from the beach. The in-house bar is decent, and all the staff has been helpful and pleasant. The room was clean, night stands on both sides of the bed with plugs in the lamps- very convenient. We have stayed here before, and would definitely be willing to stay again!
We stayed here for a work special event & we were very pleased with our room. It was very clean & fresh. The front desk staff was very personable. They were out of chocolate chip cookies but the oatmeal raisin was good!
Room was clean and orderly. The king bed was plush and comfortable. The staff was most excellent and the cookies...the cookies are amazing. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and would absolutely stay there again.
The place is very well maintained. Very accommodating to me and my fur baby! The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming. And then there's those famous cookies! Always warm and fresh. I enjoyed my stay!
The hotel had much nicer accommodations than some of waterfront hotels in the same price range. The shuttle to and from the beach runs at least every 30 minutes. In our experience, the shuttle actually ran more frequently to accommodate more guests. Our shuttle driver was amazing and gave us some great restaurant recommendations too. We also had the opportunity to talk with many employees at the front desk. Though the hotel was fully booked, everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
Kind of disappointing. The rooms, bathroom and beds are tiny. The beds are not the size we reserved. Not very updated. Dirty under chair cushion. "Hairs" all over the bathroom.
Definitely not as described or pictured. As the lobby may be newly renovated, the rooms are very outdated. I'd suggest trying other locations for your getaway...
***PLEASE LET ME ADD...We did get transferred to another room 3 floors up identical to the first. There was a very slight early check in but at that, it was 2 hours and 2 rooms later that we were settled. The room that we were moved to, just to start with, had a horrible smell in the hall and the hall carpet was filthy. The maids had to remake both beds as they were just the same as the previous room. After our 11 hour drive with 2 kids and a second room change, we cleaned up the rest of the room ourselves. The updated rooms do not exist. The TV doesn't work and it's not just remote batteries. My husband had to mess with it for a long while to get it to somewhat work. The AC barely worked and my husband had to fuss with it for sometime to get it to work at all. The fridge barely works. Again, updates may have been done to the beautiful lobby but in no way yo the outdated and unclean rooms.
We are not complainers by far but when it comes to paying and planning so much, there are certain expectations that have been very disappointing. We've never had an experience such as this.
We were "given" free family breakfast for tomorrow morning for the "inconvenience" and the staff was "cordial" during this...
We really enjoyed staying at this hotel on our first visit to the beach! We liked the location being off the main drag with the shuttle that picks up very frequently to drive you down to the beach and back. The parking is free when you stay at the hotel, the rooms were very clean, and, we didn't bring pets, but they are one of the few hotels allow pets. Great, solid choice hotel!
I truly enjoyed our stay...
The rooms were nice and clean, staff very friendly.
The only incident was the carpet was soaked near the elevators my 5yr old slipped and fell, once notified house keeping fans was in place to dry the area.
We was offered 1000 honors points and snacks, breakfast on them we declined the latter of the two. But again I would return with no question truly loved this Hotel
We've stayed here three times, and the past two times we came into town for funerals. They helped us get into our room early because of time constraints. They gave us a bit of a hard time the last time we arrived, but after speaking with a manager they were willing to help.
We last stayed in April of 2018, and the room was not that great. Obvious moisture damage throughout the room and bathroom. No strong odors of mold or anything else. Although after driving overnight from Youngstown Ohio we would have been pleased with anything.
We arrived on the first night of College Beach Week, and we were far enough off the boardwalk to be able to enjoy a good nights sleep. Otherwise beware that this is a crazy week, and someone was shot only blocks from here.
I stayed in the Presidential Suite, which was clean and spacious. The property has a slightly moist odor, which makes it rather stuffy. The gym has adequate equipment for a good workout, and the breakfast is okay. The front desk staff is very kind and helpful, but the servers in the restaurant weren't very attentive. Overall a nice property conveniently located near the convention center and close to the beach (7 min drive).
My family had to leave our North Carolina home due to the hurricane on Thursday night as I’m sure most did. We left late Thursday because my husband is a marine and stayed back late after evacuations to help our prep our town. We called reservations and they told us we were allowed any pet as long as it was only 2. I specified that I have a cat and they said it was okay. I have 5 animals and we were willing to pay for 3 hotel rooms to accommodate them as this is our family. We ended up paying for one room for my dog and cat and found a different place for my other animals. When I checked in the woman at the front desk notified me after I paid that they were not a cat friendly hotel and was was very rude. I tried to tell her that the reservations lady told us it was okay and that we had no where else to go and she said “we just don’t accept cats here”. This hotel could not accommodate, let alone be sympathetic to my family who was running from a hurricane and had no where else to go. She almost didn’t refund me until my husband came in and screamed at her for her rudeness and not being sensitive and to our situation, she didn’t even call a manager to see if something could be worked out or anything. I will never look to this place for refuge or even a vacation. Virginia Beach is our home town and this is how a military, pet loving family gets treated. This all happened last night and we are still very upset that we were not welcome.
Loved the murder mystery dinner. Definitely very creative and spontaneous. Was amazingly baffled by the staff' acting and responsive skills. Very believable and it honestly felt super real. I would love to bring people I know to this experience, super happy about how it all turned out, would definitely do this again!
Didn't cancel our reservation in time, so we decided to come anyway. The front desk attendant told us that plenty of guests had canceled their reservations due to the tropical storm that was slated to hit Virginia Beach.
However, I am so glad we came. There was plenty of indoor things to do during your stay. But back to hotel review. Read reviews ahead of time and was slightly concerned that the hotel would be crappy. I was pleasantly surprised. The facilities were clean, and the bed was comfortable.
My only negative comment will be about how thin the walls were because we heard our neighbors listening to country music at 6 AM... like who does that? The staff of course was very was accommodating. Not super close to the beach but they have a shuttle. In our case though it was a good thing. I feel sorry for all the people that booked their stays well in advance and had to deal with the weather.
This was for our stay in 2016. I was lazy and didn't get around to writing it until now. Life gets busy, ya know?
Great location, nice service and good food inside at Erma's. I will return. The late check in was a pain, but the rooms were clean, quiet and the beds were super comfy! A good mile from the beach and close to good places to eat. Parking was easy and safe.
This was a great hotel for staying at the nearby convention center. Beds and pillows were comfy, staff was kind, and the bar was fine. Some minor quibbles but no major complaints.
Everything here is awesome. The room was amazing and the service is fantastic. Paul and the lady at check-in was extremely welcoming and made sure my stay was top notch.
I enjoyed the pool and Max & Erma’s restaurant! And better yet, I could not get enough of their warm chocolate chip and walnut cookies. So delicious! I loved my stay here and I will definitely be returning.
I loved this hotel. Had an event at the convention Center which was right across the parking lot. Easy walk. Beach is a couple blocks away. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Bathroom is small. Just be prepared to be in there one at a time. Staff was super friendly and very helpful.
This is the crown jewel of Virginia Beach's big makeover. It's next to Neptune Park and during the season, it is always hopping with tons of activity. Off-season, it's super affordable. There's a rooftop bar and pool that offers the best photo ops on the beach.
Nice clean hotel. Bed is very comfortable and the staff is friendly. Would stay here again!
Nice hotel which is near the beach. In a quiet place which is good for relaxing. Service is by the hotel staff is excellent.
Overall I enjoyed my one-week stay here, the hotel is clean the staff is friendly. My only two complaints are there is no microwave in the room. If you want high speed internet access it's $7 a day, basic access is free. It was an enjoyable stay.
nice staff, clean rooms, pretty lobby, very musty smell in the halls and somewhat in rooms. although room was very clean and well maintained you can tell this hotel is old and is need of updating/remodel. Beds are a bit lumpy although the linens and pillows are nice. Again the staff is very friendly and helpful!
Hotel itself is great: very clean and nice rooms, friendly staff. ZERO stars for the restaurant. Nice staff but RIDICULOUSLY slow- the bar and restaurant.
Fabulous post wedding Brunch at the Double tree, thanks for helping celebrate my Godson and his new wife's wedding. The accommodations were stellar and the food was perfection.
We had an emergency and had to leave they helped us and told us not to worry. So I will have no problem going back there.
We stayed for the volleyball tournament at VA beach. This is our second stay. Not our decision. This is booked through the volleyball club. The first stay, may daughter got head lice. The second stay (once again not my decision, she’s on a team and has to stay at this hotel), we were not allowed to eat pizza in the lounge. The facility that rents the rooms books 50 rooms twice a year. That is a lot of revenue for a hotel, and then be told we cannot eat pizza in their lobby. Last stay and I think our coach agrees. And I never did see any chocolate chip cookies.
