How would you rate Jazz At the Bistro?
The new decor is modern yet cozy. Really dig it. The new food menu is a BIG step in the right direction! The duck wings are superb, the caramelized onion soup was delectable. The salmon was okay, but one of my table-mates ordered the rotisserie chicken, and it looked good enough to make me very jealous. Next time I will probably order the chicken instead of the salmon. The music was, as always, superb. Can't wait to go back!
great food and great music for brunch. what more can you ask for!
The words 'Classy' and 'Elegant' come to mind. This is the perfect place to introduce friends and family from out of town to St. Louis culture.
I have seen many shows. Great listening room!
Rotten experience - went to this restaurant last Tuesday night. It wasn't a concert night, so maybe when they play Jazz there, it's different, but it was truly a terrible experience when we went. We had reservations for four, and arrived to a half empty restaurant, and were seated literally 10 feet from the bar. So we expected some level of average service.
No one came to our table for close to 15 mins. When the waiter did, he asked if we were ready to order dinner. We asked (asked mind you - at a restaurant!) if we could have drinks first, to which the waiter cooly said 'of course'. We then waited for another 10-15 mins until the waiter came back and said 'your drinks are on the way, are you NOW ready to order your entrees'? We again asked if we could first order several appetizers, which we did. Our drinks finally came, and again we were asked if we were ready to order our entrees. We ordered our entrees, the appetizers showed up - and we waited and waited and waited another 25 mins before anyone showed up again. No one came to see if we wanted more drinks, and while people around us who had showed up later than us were served, we continued to wait, and these were salads that had been ordered - dishes that could have been made quickly. Unfortunately when they did show up, the lettuce was wilted, and they were entirely sub par.
The whole restaurant staff seemed confused. I must have seen 4 instances where the food was brought to the wrong outside table, and then brought back in again. I saw only two waiters actually taking orders. I even had to chase down our waiter to get my check so I could get out of there. I thought of stiffing the waiter on the tip (actually I thought several times of just walking out completely), but realized the waiter was the only one really running around trying to get anything done, and it wasn't his fault that his manager/owner had understaffed the place that night. The waiter - Maurice - wasn't exactly unfriendly, but he did not go out of his way to be friendly either. In fact, no one at the restaurant was friendly. I won't go back, and I won't recommend anyone to go either. I'm at the Grand Center regularly, but will never go to the Bistro again.
We came for brunch the Sunday after Christmas. While the music was good, the brunch food was subpar and the service was less than stellar. We don't mind paying a premium for great food and service, but $35 per person for brunch was excessive for our experience.
I doubt that we will ever be back. There are many outstanding places for brunch in St. Louis....Jazz at the Bistro is just not one of them.
Love Tim Cunningham's jazz band.
The bar simultaneously broadcasts the jazz concert on a TV, so even if you don't have tickets you can see and hear the band while grabbing a drink.
The entertainment is always phenomenal each time I'm there. The food is just as entertaining to my taste buds and the ambiance is exquisite with all the comforts you could ask for ... a lounge to relax ... a bar to socialize and comfortable seating areas upstairs and down. Enjoy and bon apetite!
Great food, great music, nice and cheap if you're a student. Great brew and drink selection. An awesome date place.
My experiences have been very positive...excellant food and entertainment at reasonable prices.
Beautiful venue with excellent food & drink options. Whether you're upstairs or downstairs, you'll have a great view of the stage.
Awesome Place The Good Is Great And The Music 🎶 Is Always On Point. Just A Bery Pleasant Atmosphere
Awesome place. Recommend everyone should go once!
This is a great place to go and listen to some great jazz. The music is always great and the food and drinks are always great!!!
Good food, good music and good drinks
Great place for jazz performance, and the food is good too.
Been there twice love it
Great spot for good music, great service and pretty good food.
Always a fantastic time at Jazz at the Bistro! You can consistently count on excellent performances & acoustics ... bar and table service suuuuuper slow, but the performer roster stays top-notch!
Historic Jazz landmark! Also great for private parties!
Outstanding new facility. Great jazz.
Celebrated National Doughnut Day here. Jazz and the top Doughnut bakeries of St. Louis and free coffee to top it off! Balloon animals and face painting too if you are not in a hurry! So much fun!
I great music, good food, good atmosphere
Show me a better or more intimate spot for watching live music
Beautiful venue! Excellent sound system. Sight lines not consistent. We plan on trying upstairs seating next time.
Every performance is unique and well produced. If you think all Jazz is the same you will be amazed at the variety.
Great music, fun place but food expensive
Great jazz music and nice crowd. Affordable with student discounts .
Gorgeous ambiance. Highly competent and gracious and friendly staff. The food was absolutely amazing! I did not give it 5 stars because we saw the second show in the evening, and some of the performers were kind of drunken idiots.
I don't blame the venue for that, but it detracted from our experience.
Good music, good food & drink, cozy atmosphere, nice people.
Simply lovely my 1st time there OMG. It was as elegant as people describe.. I will be back very soon.
Pricey if you want to eat dinner, but just plain fun to be there.
Very urban environment in the heart of the grand center entertainment district. Great music, good limited menu served well.
For a classy evening with your mate. My wife and I LOVED this place and the music show was awesome. Food was superb. Its impossible to be in a less than great mood while listening to Jazz
Without a doubt, this is one of the best sounding music venues in the country. Every time I see a show here it's always fun, and filled with hospitality. Highly recommend!
By far the best music venue for jazz in town. Every show is high quality.
Food is fantastic. Service very pleasant and apmisphere very delightful.
The Gumbo is excellent. Friendly staff. The music, the best. Hats off to Good 4 Your Soul. We had a fun time!
Take 6 was awesome & put on a great 1 1/2 hour show complete with Christmas songs! The Shrimp & grits and Salmon was cooked & seasoned to perfection. Can't wait to go 2 Jazz at the Bistro again!
Great place to hear live jazz. Tables for four, intimate atmosphere, national acts, good sound, dinner and drinks served.
Amazing space with top notch acts. Student discount is clutch for college and grad students.
Saw an amazing band, and had our seats rearranged because of a block in our view before we even had to ask. Great costumer service from the staff. Great date night!
It's my understanding that they recently redesigned the whole room, and the space provides a great, intimate atmosphere with the performers. The online seat selection didn't quite give an accurate idea of where our table would be, and we ended up not being able to see very well. Had we known that, we would have sifted different seating. The food looked nice, the drinks are great, but the prices are on the high end.
Enjoyed the visit. Music was great and the food was acceptable. I will visit again, during warmer seasons.
I love this place, a must every time I come to St. Louis.. great staff, great food.. great jazz!
Great venue! Food and drinks were very good. The service was also very good. We will certainly return.
Very cool venue. Intimate and chic, with a wonderful hospitality crew. The drinks were mixed well, the dessert was quite good. Definitely a place you should check out.
They have great shows on a regular basis with critically acclaimed local artists. They're one of the few options we have to watch a good jazz show and this place takes it seriously. Great acoustics all around. The menu options are delicious and generous and the location has a well stocked bar.
First time at Jazz at the Bistro. We saw Funky Butt Brass Band. Enjoyed the evening very much. Awesome venue for live music. All seats are reserved. We got the tickets that dinner was served.
I would highly recommend Jazz at the Bistro!
Best place in St Louis for great jazz. A listening room, so no talking during show. No smoking, and great food if you want.
This is the classiest place to hear live jazz in the area. The food is not overpriced, but it is also not cheap. You get what you pay for in this place, so the quality is high as is the cost. If you just want to hear jazz and not eat, that is fine--get a cup of coffee and glass of water and relax.
Wonderful entertainment and dinner. Waitress was very good. Pineapple cheesecake was outstanding.
Just saw John Scofield & Joe Lovano here tonite. THE premiere jazz club in the
Midwest. The renovation done (a couple of years ago. I think) has expanded the seating & opened up the place. Just an elegant (but not stuffy), first-rate place to hear the greats in jazz music.
I love Jazz At the Bistro! Always a wonderful atmosphere and the performers are so close you can almost reach out and touch them! Waiters and waitresses are attentive and very professional. Anyone who loves jazz have to make a point to visit Jazz At the Bistro! You are going to love it!!
Not a bad seat in the house. Great accoustics. Well behaved clientele. Very courteous staff. Good food for a reasonable price.
Outstanding! First time got the whole family. So glad we decided to go. Atmosphere is great, did is great, musicians was fantastic. We saw the David Sanborn quintet. Excellent show, this was our first of many!
Closed circuit TV in lounge is great option.
Good service, food. Good venue
I come 3 to 5 times a year...it is a wonderful place to hear some good jazzed I love the atmosphere. However the food leaves a lot to be desired and is not worth the price (a little salt or seasoning would bring much needed flavor). I will come for the music, but not the food.
Emily Wallace and the Funky Butt Horns were fantastic, she never disappoints! but the food service left something to be desired, had to call over the waitress, she brought our drinks and that is the last time we saw her. Only got one of two dishes we ordered.
Great jazz and good food. I'll return whenever I'm in St. Louis. I love this town for blues and jazz!!
A couple friends brought us because they had free tickets. It was better than I was expecting, not normally a jazz fan but the music was awesome. Dinner and drinks were good but quite pricey. 16 dollars for burger and fries. Overall very cool atmosphere and the show lasted 1 hour which I think was the perfect amount of time.
The music and sound is terrific. Views can be limited and food is meh...But one of the best sounding jazz clubs in the world--no kidding. The sound stage is really well designed.
Great place. Has been redone and great interior. Full bars and good food. Great life entertainment, Jazz related of course
Love the atmosphere and the food. I love the location, it was my 1st time.
What an awesome venue. The crab cakes and shrimp n grits were quite tasty. The music was fantastic. This is a great concept. Jazz at the Bistro attracts some of the top talent in jazz today and creates an intimate environment where you can enjoy it!
Great food and amazing music. Definitely recommend coming here. My wife and I went and she isn't a huge fan of jazz, but she loved it. We really enjoyed our time at Jazz at the Bistro!
Wonderful venue to hear jazz and other types of music! Acoustics are great and there is not a bad seat in the house.
Great supporter of the arts here in St. Louis, especially with bringing music to the youth in STL! Jazz St. Louis offers discount student tickets to almost all shows for as low as $10!!
Downfall is the food and drinks are quite pricey and service is very slow. The venue needs to hire more workers than volunteers to help run the different nightly sets.
Arrive early when the doors open if you decide to dine for better service!
Also seating and tables are very close together, so if you have trouble with personal space, I suggest either a bar seat or a seat over at Nancy’s Jazz Lounge. Most tables seat 4 so if you don’t buy the entire table other people will be sitting with you and possible dining as well.
Great venue for live jazz! Stage level seating gets you up close and personal with the musicians. A regular visit for me when in the St. Louis area.
We have not been here for several years. It was a pleasant surprise to see the remodeling had created a much improved experience.
We really enjoyed all the...read this and 61 more
