How would you rate Cafe 4212?
I went to Café 4212 for a friend's birthday and had a blast! I don't go to many nightspots, but I love listening to old school hip-hop and this place did not disappoint on a Friday night. My friend had a reserved section for her party, but we barely sat there as the dance floor called our name all night.
The crowd was grown, but not stuffy like some other over-30 spots can be. The staff was friendly and the DJ was great the night I went. Street parking may be hard to come by when busy. Like a few other night spots on Almeda, either you know about it or you don't, and I'm glad I know about this place.
Anyplace where I can feel comfortable singing along to my favorite tunes and doing a little 2-step is my kind of place. Located in 3rd ward off of Almeda this is definitely a cool ,hip and urban spot for all 25+. While the is no age restriction I'd say this is for the more mature crowd.
Cafe 4212 is a restaurant by day a lounge by night, that caters to the mature night owl. They specialize in great events that surround the black community and urban culture. Great drinks, great staff and even better service.
Street parking only.
Stop by for a great time. Tell Walter I said HELLO!!
Awesum spot even thou it's private party great place
Awesome place, decor, atmosphere great. Service to match. Happy hour was good. Limited import selection but domestics are in abundance.
Will visit again!
This us were real music is played! Must goto place!
I went there with my brother and sister in law its a very nice atmosphere.
Fabulous music, wonderful atmosphere, and great staff. Thanks to everyone who made last night a memorable evening. I will come by again.
classy. Wednesday salsa.
I had a good time here for my friend's birthday. The night was filled with live music and good drinks. It definitely is a cozy atmosphere. The staff is friendly.
One thing I would mention is to get here early or you will have to park a ways away.
Went to the Monday night jazz session. The music and ambiance was very nice, however the food was not up to standard. This could be a real 5 star experience if they get the menu and kitchen together. The music in my opinion is the best in town. I'd highly recommended Monday night, just eat before you go.
Had such a great time on a Saturday night. Went there to celebrate a friend's birthday and the live band was amazing!!!
This was our second Saturday at this venue and we can't say enough about Cafe 4212! The owners and staff remembered us from our first visit and the way they greeted us, you would have thought we were regulars. Well we are regulars now!! Back to the visit... first of all the house was packed, and after hearing the live band we understood why. They were sooooo good! I danced and sang from the minute i walked in until the encore. The atmosphere, the patrons, the staff, are what makes this place so unique and sought after. A grown and classy "must see" if in Houston. Don't forget to check out the back patio!!!
Nice atmosphere , good music and large outside patio . However hostesses are not personable, rude or properly trained to wait on customers! Plus drinks and food are way too pricey compared to most. And food isn't that good
average lounges extremely expensive and food is below average
Went to the Saturday night jazz session. The music and ambiance was very nice, however the food and service was horrible. This could be a real 5 star experience if they get the menu and kitchen together. The music in my opinion is the best in town. I'd highly recommended you save your time and money by visiting another establishment.. The owner told me he was a killer and I could leave if we didn't like the service... it took them over an hour to bring out our food and by the time we got it it was cold.
Cafe 4212 has live bands, jazz, and other events. The place is larger than it looks. They have a nice patio and they serve food.
I enjoy myself Everytime I come nice chill environment da patio setup really nice if u can make sure u ask 4 D.Q he will take good care of u & make ur drinks right
Just love the Fridays here. Awesome staff, DJ's food and drinks. The patio is the business.
Nice venue with a warm ambient vibe. Limited free parking on the side of the street near the venue. Otherwise you can take a risk and park in the Post Office parking lot.
I have visited Cafe 4212 a number of times and have yet to be disappointed. I was in town for the holiday weekend and had to stop by to enjoy a night of great house music. An amazing time as always. If you enjoy house music, bring your tambourine and dancing shoes.
MY FAVORITE PLACE ON MONDAY NIGHTS AND THURSDAY'S ...DON'T FORGET THE PATIO
The pictures on the website make this place look great and spacious. Well, I guess when it's "staged" anything looks great. The space is small. The dance floor is at the front door meaning you have to gauge when you can pass because they will knock you over without thinking twice. The service is horrible and the head lady has a bad attitude.......
I love the Monday night Jazz Jam here. Every great musician can be found here.
Monday jazz night is great. Local artists and a low cover of 5$. The chicken skewers and chicken wings were amazing
The service was slow, they ran out of food for the buffet had to keep asking the waitress for our change the music was good.
A great spot for live jazz and old school music...and a nice little food menu...
Excellent!!! We came here on a Saturday night on our first trip to Houston and had a great time. The servers were attentive, the dj was on point and we ate and drank like kings and queens without feeling major damage to our pockets. Bottom line you'll have a great time. We're in Houston and will be there tonight!!!
Great place for live music and DJ .....One place four sections ...inside ....a patio....a another patio out back and outdoors patio with live performances sometimes....a food menu and of course a bar in every section.
I was here for the Monday Jazz Night. Makes for a lovely Monday night. It's like a pick up jazz jam session with all awesome musicians.
Patio in the back is surprisingly expansive. I didnt realize now far back it went. Great place in an otherwise unassuming part of town.
Parking at the post office so dont worry about where to park your car!
Great atmosphere for adults. On Monday nights they have jazz. Also great food.
Great obiance, good food, very friendly, our waitress was "ok" other staff helped get her attention when needed but she was very nice and helpful. OMG! the music was fantastic!
BEST KEPT SECRET!
Fish was huge! Didn't get pic of sampler plate was also a great plate. I seen others plates loaded. So great portions for prices.
Calm, Grown and Sexy vibe. Live band and seating is great
I came to Cafe 4212 for the Jazz Night. The music was awesome. I loved the atmosphere. I enjoyed the food as well. My only complaint is the waitress was not friendly and she was very dry. Maybe it wasn't a good day for her but if I do return I do not want her to serve me. Other than that, I enjoyed the whole night. The patio outside is also beautiful.
My parents love this place because it is for an older crowd. The ambience of the club is cozy but is also on the tiny side. If its not too hot step outside to the outdoor deck where the owners have expanded the area so you and you guest can have more room! This is a club like setting for ppl over 45. If you are looking for a more mature crowd trying going on the first Friday of the month. Its always packed. The is a $10 cover to get in and parking can be a bit of a challenge!
OMG they have the best patio on the back to have a drink. There is alao a cigar vendor there.
Fish and dirty rice was delicious. Chicken a bit over fried but the food was free so no major complaints. Happy hour drinks were disgusting. Returned the first frozen one for a well drink and it was awful as well. Atmosphere was nice and DJ was good.
Great good! Fun time and good music. Reasonable prices as well
Paid $25 for a SEAT and another $20 for a 1 trip "buffet" of ice cold food! Waste of my money. Waiters brought the wrong drinks twice then charges us to bring us the correct drink. Again more money. I will be spreading the word and won't be back.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the live music. The bowl of etoufee was delicious the cook Brandy was a blessing can't wait to go back. Excellent Houston Feel. So enjoyed my date our first outings couldn't took me any where better.
This is a great spot to relax and if you enjoy cigars they have them available on the patio with the variety of choices. It can get crowded but they have great live music from bands and DJs. Its focus on a grown and sexy crowd with most people there in their forties up into their 70s or 80s which can be a nice Ambience if you're looking for a break from a crowded club and want to relax and enjoy music.
Ultra Cool Atmosphere. Drinks selection probably could be sold better. Enjoyed myself overall.
Music and atmosphere was very nice but the appetizers could be a little better .
Great place to have an event. Great place to have food event. Great place to enjoy yourself for live music and have a great evening out on the town. Also you must check out the back area which is the patio textured. Multiple TVs multiple events great mix use as a sports bar.
Nice friendly atmosphere love the fire pits and heat provided in the back, the DJ was awesome played songs I hadn't heard in years a wonderful evening !
Loved this place! Laid back, chilled type of crowd, with a live R&B jazz band, a DJ, full bar, and appetizers. The drinks were good....We tried the lemon pepper wings, & boudin balls which were delicious! The band & singers who performed were awesome, & the service was great! There are tables, chairs, and sofas throughout the club which allows plenty of seating, with room to dance. There is also seating at the bar. There was a birthday party on the night we went, and it was still seating available. The parking isn't bad, its free and we didn't have to walk far at all. This club also has an outdoor patio which is relaxing, quiet and romantic. I could go on and on, but to sum it up, 5 stars! My type of club!
I was here for the Omega event due to a conference they had in Houston. I was there for my birthday. I had a great time and will go back.
Had a great time, the band was awesome, didn't try the food. Cocktails were good, reasonably priced, parking not so good, no parking lot, street parking only
Mixed review. Very cool place, esp for a Monday night. I was able to chill out with the band between sets, and the crowd had a very cool vibe. Front door greeter and bartender were charming. Drinks were good. The music ... ok; I suspect the band may not have had the time to gel travelling in from separate states. The food ... horrible. My recommendation ... great chillout place to talk, drink, and listen. Do not eat.
Great atmosphere! Make sure your car is Parked infront of it. Don't leave anything in the car, your window might be broken into. Jazz music is solid
Awesome...Great atmosphere and impeccable service, food and drinks get you RIGHT!
Brunch was amazing. Beautiful atmosphere, beautiful people, and the music selection was on point. The soul food was delicious and perfectly seasoned, but heavy so come hungry and forget about your diets. $30 buffet with unlimited mamosas.
Small and cute but reminds me of a cave. They could use a nice renovation for sure. The back patio area was great too. I enjoyed myself because the music was amazing. The drinks were okay, took a while to get served.
I showed up late... But the music was good.. I didn't try any food.. atmosphere was jazzy... Need a little work on the sound system.. sometimes it's to loud to enjoy.. I'll definitely recommend this place
Great, chill environment and enjoyed the music. However, the brunch buffet looked nothing like the photos. Most of everything was gone (no waffles, eggs, bacon) and everything that I had was disgusting. I told my waiter and was still charged for it. The mimosa were flat and tasted like orange juice. I then found out that they had ran out of champagne. And the waiter (guy with long dreds) had an attitude about everything. Very off putting, but my party remained positive and friendly. The moment of truth was when I received my bill and it was sky high, but I was leaving with my stomach and everything on E! 😕
Excellent spot for coffee, cappuccino, espresso, and dessert. We love coming here during our visits to Infinity Bay.
Great food. The staff has made a major improvement. The environment alone is so soulful. I am definitely going back
I frequent their Brunch... Gets hype! Love it. Sometimes it gets hot in there but the food is good! Try going in the back! Most people don't know about the patio but it's a great spot to chill.
They could use healthier food options though.
The jazz jam on Monday night is the bomb! Talented musicians "doing it for the music" made me think I was in a jazz club in New York or Paris. Details are on the attached notice. Full bar, cold beer, wine, food, and an international crowd make this a great way to turn around a Monday and make it great.
I helped my friend celebrate her birthday and had such a good time. The food was good the staff curtious and the music awesome. Will go again.
Nice atmosphere. Good crowd but not too big. My class reunion had a mixer there and it was a nice spot to do so.
The food is very well prepared. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I will be going back soon.
The live band was great and drink prices were reasonable. Didn't taste the food. However, we had a great time !
Celebrated New Year's Eve party here. Club makes strong drinks. Staff and crowd super friendly. Loved the band playing. Great place.
Best brunch and hangout spot. Staff is friendly, food and music on point. Patio has a nice chill vibe
It was so tasty. The service here is attentive. The bill was fair I would say.
Didn't expect a $10 cover but there was live music and it was fantastic. Drink prices were comparable with other spots in the area. Bar tenders were fast and the drink mix was on point. Table service not so good but I'd rather get my own anyway. There was even enough room to get up and cut a little rug.
Monday nights, cafe 4212 is the best jazz show you can find. It is a jam session where the house band starts each night then a multitude of other trumpet, piano, drum, etc. players plus singers hop up and join in for a song or 2 or just a solo, whatever they want.
Loved the outdoor patio & bar. Inside was dark, but spacious. Ideal for seeing live music, but I was there during the day.
Nice adult casual atmosphere and great live music. Nice back patio during the day! Patio first pic inside at night for the live music second pic.
Great service. Great atmosphere. Great music. Truly enjoyed ourselves.
I went for an event a few years back and it was so crowded that I just kind of stood where I could. This time, I went for another event and found the place to be refreshing. Of course you have the inside area with loungers and a bar, but there is a patio out back that is really nice. The food they had for the event was tasty and served at the correct temperature. The staff was really nice and accommodating, especially the guy with the locs and finger rings.
We purchased brunch tickets online for $25 each. Food was served out of crockpots. Ran out of food, tasteless and cold. Had minimal breakfast items. Waffles looked like they were out of a frozen box. Do not go here for brunch. I honestly wish we could get a refund. Horrible brunch experience.
A small place with a cool, laid back, and old fashioned appeal to it. We had arrived some time after 10 pm on Saturday night, and the band was still playing. Service was good also. Only reason we left earlier than planned was because the kitchen was closed and we had to get some food. Definitely worth another visit.
The food is a soul food buffet style brunch. The food was very well seasoned, could've been a bit warmer on some dishes. The spot was hosted a reunion gathering, so the people that were not there for the gathering we assembled in a corner, and sort of lacked attention. On a regular Sunday, it probably would've been a better rating.
Cool spot, laid back, lots of cool people. A bit small due to the typical real estate of the area but overall a good experience. I definitely enjoy contributing to small businesses that serve the diverse community of our beautiful city.
Please be aware that if you buy tickets on line you are not making a seat reservation, only paying upfront. We got there at our scheduled time and they made this clear to our party of 3. We were instead required to sit in the sun outside by ourselves as there was no room for us. Little service outside since we were the only people who were required to sit out there. Oddly the party of three that walked in behind us, without reservations, was sat inside. Food variety limited and not good quality. Also, this was sold as brunch, but we were told they had no coffee- very strange. We felt unwelcome so we cannot recommend this establishment.
Really enjoyed myself. Nice music and drinks. Bathroom was very clean. I spent the entire time on the patio so I’m not sure how the inside was. Will be back 🍸🍹
Wonderful service so sad they are closing I cried because I have been going there for 14 years and it has felt so much like home and robin was our server and she is the best. And gave us the best service we could ask for thank you Robin thank you for being there for me my whole 14 years that we have gone. wish you the best.
4212 is not really my 1st Choice to Hangout at.. it's like a hit-or-miss miss here. The men there are very into themselves they talk to each other they don't socialize with the ladies unless they know them,
If you just want to hang with your friends or have a party good place..the atmosphere is very nice but its not be a place for a single woman to go into hoping to meet a single man.
My first time was watching a friend, Michael Reeves, perform on R&B Thursdays at the Cafe Lounge. They have an R&B/Poetry lineup which consists of great local artists. More so, drink specials ($5 Well before 8 p.m.), food, hookah & more. So far I like this place. I believe it will be booking this fall (2019).
The DJ was the best thing going on a Friday night. The place has tons of potential but happened to be a sausage factory that night. The service was fine but staff was not easy on the eyes. (Im just being honest)
I had such a good time at Cafe 4212. The food was good, the atmosphere was wonderful. It had a good vibe and great music! I would highly recommend coming out.
great place for live music. nice backyard bar. good drinks!
The food, service and music is great!! My husband and I were looking for jazz lounge to celebrate our anniversary!! We loved every minute of it!
I attended a friend's birthday celebration. The bar staff was friendly and nice, shout out to Chade (sorry if I spelled it wrong), but the table service EXTREMELY slow and disappointing. We received a drink nearly 2 hrs late, and then was still charged for it, even though the person barely drank it because it was too strong. Suggestion on the lemon drop martini, be mindful and consider your recipe, the alcohol used was very strong (not enjoyable by multiple people at our table) and had a "rubbing" alcohol scent (not pleasant, and I personally enjoy martinis often).
Also, the live music was very enjoyable, however, the vocalist was having to scream over the music at times which was not enjoyable and concerning for her. Overall, we had an enjoyable time, however, the things mentioned in my review would definitely cause me to reconsider this as a location for my own event.
If you're looking for a good time, this is a place to visit. In from Phoenix, good music, drinks and food!
Best jazz club in town!!! (Monday nights). Food and service was great with a great atmosphere.
Live band was great. Food was good. I will visit again.
Very nice place to get out in the evening. The bartenders are super friendly.
This was a very nice club. There was live jazz for a few hours. It was really nice. Ater there was a dj playing all of the 90's hits. Every song he played made you run to the dance floor even though your legs were numb. The food looked great, but I did not eat. Everyone said the drinks were nice and they did not hold back on the alcohol. This is a nice spot for the 35 and up crowd.
This place was absolutely amazing! If you need a spot to hang out on a weekend and like cafe type music, this is the place to go. We’ll be back.
The owner is rude. Nothing positive came from this man. The outside wooden area is dry rotten and the coverage has holes throughout the screens . And getting accurate billing is impossible Quote we'll work it out. Not worth patronizing.
Omg this place is AHHHHMAZING!!!
We had the cutest bartender who was gorgeous and gave us great drinks. I forgot her name but she had blue hair and the...read this and 38 more
