How would you rate Hammonds House Museum?
A wonderful treasure in West End Atlanta. Historic Victorian home which has featured artwork by many talented artists. Friendly staff. Conveniently located. Parking available.
Superb curators of relevant African history exhibitions. A deliberate detailed and in-depth portrait of Afro-Panamanian Alters and Shrines is a must see presentation of a story worth telling.
Cultural bonanza! Engaged staff, eclectic exhibits, cozy confines
Beautifully restored home
Excellent exhibitions and staff. A must visit for all art lovers.
The museum is exhibits are amazing and interesting. They are so thought-provoking and show the creativity of Africans in America.

Enjoyed the small but nice collection
Amazing art great history
Amazing art great history
Its kinda boring. I came here from Groupon and thought it would be a big museum of a house, but it turns out its just an average house with art inside. It only takes you about 45 seconds to finish looking through the whole house.
I was on set of the Mike Epps movie "Meet The Blacks 2" aka "The House Next Door". The museum was one of the homes in the film. I didnt really get to see how the museum is originally set up unfortunately.
Beautiful art exhibitions!
This museum and cultural center presents an array of historic and contemporary art from African American and African diaspora artists. The museum also hosts openings, thought provoking artist talks, and community discussions related to exhibits. Come visit this important institution in Atlanta's West End!
A gem in the West end with a focus on art from the African Diaspora. Dedicated staff and curators. Space also available for special events.
Small museum but still an awesome exhibit.
Such great history here. Mr. Hammond's life was amazing and he left a great legacy for all if us to learn from. Great exhibits and talks space
During the 2nd winter break we bought groupons to take the children to museums in the Atlanta area. Our first stop was the Hammond House. We almost left after knocking for 20 minutes, finally a gentleman answered. The board of directors were having a meeting and they did not hear us knocking. The displays were interesting, we did not get a tour so we were just reading the cards on the wall next to the art exhibits. I appreciate the effort put in, it looks like they could use funding to spruce it up a bit.
Beautiful restoration. I was there for as event. I look forward to viewing the art.
An intimate museum and exhibition space. I have enjoyed my time here and will visit again.
Beautiful art in a historically rich environment. Everyone is knowledgeable and eager to inform. Make it a part of your spots to visit when in Atlanta!
Excellent place to visit, former home of Dr. Otis Thrash Hammond. Dr. Hammond had a love for Black art, Dr. Hammond home serve as an museum art gallery in Historic West End. Historic West End area is an African American community situated in southwest Atlanta. America Jim Crow Lawless Government system controlled and dominated areas where Black citizens in Atlanta could live. Through such a horric system, African American citizens were forced to live on the southwest side of Atlanta. Today, Black Atlanta still live in this area, our historic Black collages/universities are here and the first African American public high school is here. Check out the great vegan businesses situated in historic West End/southwest Atlanta. After years of struggle and progress, historic West End now are faced with bad politicans, greedy developers, and gentrification. These are the sane people that forced Jim Crow Lawless Government on this community, now, today these preditors need to find another tactics way to steal African American real estate properties. Community beware of coons in your communities.
Beautiful collection. We still be having our baby shower here.
I love the Hammond House. It is a quaint museum that reminds me of a visit 2 Grandma's house. Charming & warm w/ great art the Hammond House has events & lectures that R very relevant.
If you have never been here, you MUST visit. Always thoughtful exhibits and friendly staff
Loved it. The art collection is magnificent. From Africa, Haiti to the Republic of the United States. Worth it. Price, reasonable.
The Hammomds House Museum is dedicated to the ancestors of the late 1800's up until 1985 with the last owner of the Hammomd House, the late great
Dr. Otis T. Hammonnd MD.
Exhibits rotate through out the year, so there is always a different center piece to talk about. Rich Pan African heritage will surely entertain you through our tour visit here
I learn something new every time I go there!
Always love a visit to Hammonds House Museum. It's a treasure.
Grand asset to the community. Go. Support artists (usually local). Ask questions. Learn about the house, it's former owners, the neighborhood. Worth the trip. NOTE: There's a parking lot behind the house, but a one-way street complicates getting in there - use Google Maps directions to get there by making the destination the parking lot out back!
Great museum! I would plan it to do with something else. Our visit was less than an hour. The home it's located in is beautiful, and to park free anywhere in Atlanta is divine! The exhibits were interesting as well.
Very cool house museum, sometimes spoken word also
Really great historic place, we just finished sanding refinishing the house directly next door!
This staff is always super friendly! Love the representation and culture they display within the community!
