How would you rate Floods Bar & Grill?
GREAT FOOD MAC M CHEESE, YAMS, GREENS, SHRIMP, PORKCHOPS, CHICKEN WINGS &THE BAND IS THE BOMB! :)
Love this place other club owners should come here and take notes. I come every time i am in town.
An institution for Detroit. The band on Wed eve, is incredable. Celibritys frequent. Try the shrimp. O o o , la la.
I enjoy coming to floods on Wednesday for ladies night...& also love to song @ karaoke on sunday with friends.....
Glass of wine too high and need more space.
Great DJ He is a keeper but you guys needs to improve the drinks not the greatest
Had a great dinner with Kenny and his friend Mike who is the owner.
Nice place to eat and drink
Great food I loved it. Me and some of my loved ones went there last night and we had a very good time. The drinks were delicious and the food was good. Now my only thing is the portion of the food for the price, I expected 2 pieces of fish with my catfish dinner and only received one. For that amount I would expect to take some leftovers home with other restaurants but I ate all my food at Floods. Overall I am going to come here again especially since the music is banging and so is the food!!!!!!!
The service in your establishment is awful! We went here today because we bought a Groupon that expired today. We were told by people your food is wonderful. We drove over 20 miles to be disappointed from beginning to end. We were not greeted for over 15 minutes and 3 waitresses and a bust boy walked passed us several times. We could never find our waitress once she took our order. She never even came back to ask us if we wanted refills on our water or soda, which we did we were thirsty. I asked for an extra side of yams that was never brought to the table, but we were charged for it. We gave her a screen shot of our Groupon because we could not get a signal for internet connection in your restaurant. We took a screenshot, before entering the establishment just in case our cellular internet connection would not work (better safe than sorry). Bad assumption because the manager accused us of trying to get over because we had a screenshot, even though his waitress saw that our cellular phone would not access the internet in the restaurant. She obviously scanned it because later she said it showed up as used. The manager, Charles, came to the table and accused us of using the Groupon multiple times and pretty much calling us thieves. We left there spending $45 when the Groupon should have covered it. To make matters worse we made it home and Groupon sent us an e-mail asking if we would recommend Flood's, which this e-mail comes out the minute the Groupon is used, at 9:10p.m. This was the time we were in your establishment. At 9:15p.m. we were being called thieves and liars by your management. The customer service starting with your waitress to your management was unacceptable.
I think that you just need to know how to be patient and kind with the bartenders. My husband and I had a great time. Drinks were strong. Entertainment was very talented! We were very satisfied and had a great time! Looking forward to coming back next time we visit!
I recently went here and had a horrible experience. The food was great and the waitress was great, but the manager there on Friday, was the worst manager that a business could have. I would never go there again.
Horrible service. Sat at the table and the waitress walked pass us several times. We told her we were ready to order. She said that she would get our waiter..... she was our waiter.
Best bar in Detroit. The best in food, entertainment and staff Bar none no pun intended.
Vibe great. Music Great. Food Great. Service however, horrible. It took awhile to be greeted the bus boy got us our water and menus and silverware. One of our guest ordered food and the waistress never put it in. After the bus boy brought us our food we never saw the waistress again until we complained to the manager.
A classic & historic venue in Downtown Detroit. GREAT music, small space & average/good food warrant the 3 1/2 stars.
I bought a Groupon thinking I would get to try a restaurant I haven't been to before. SO WRONG!!
When I called to let them know I wanted to use my Groupon I was told I could only use it between 7-9pm!!!
Seriously?? A 2 hour window at night?
If I knew this was the conditions ahead of time I NEVER would have purchased this!!
I have 2 young children and needless to say we do not go out to eat dinner at that time of the evening.
A waste of my money...
HORRIBLE PLACE - BEWARE! I had a group of 8 with me for a graduation celebration on a Thursday. The place was not even full and we could not get service. I was at Floods a few Fridays prior and it was cool, however, Thursday night was absolutely horrible. My party arrived at 7:30 pm and LITERALLY we did not get our ORDER taken until 9:20 pm. Why did we stay??? The waitress JoAnne kept saying I'll be right with you, even the DJ got management and still no service. We attempted to order drinks directly from the bar and was told we had to get it from our server! I could not believe the type of business these people are running. Whoever owns this place is a JOKE! Needless to say, management decided to get another server to take our order and he was touched. I informed him that management agreed to give us happy hour prices and he said absolutely NOT! I felt like I was being punked! Our "new" server argued with us and someone that was at the DJ booth had to calm him down. Mind you, the DJ got management three times for us, I informed him I couldn't even get a drink while he was on this 5th! Well, we finally ate at 10:25 and still no drink! The food was good but the service was horrible. I will never, ever, step foot in that place again and if you want good service you wouldn't either!
Grown and sexy crowd. They always have a live band on one side and a DJ on the other side. Great vibe of people... I've been going here on Saturday nights for years and never seen a fight!!
Everything was delicious! I would recommend this place to anyone going to Detroit!!! Everything was good..Also it did NOT take long at all for our meals to come to our table..nor the customers in front of us.. my only thing if I had to post why not 5 stars was the drink selection.. I'm an ice tea drinker..they only had Coke products :( I dont drink soda/pop. So i wish they could brew some tea bags in the back lol..im sure people would order it!
Csme here for my mom's birthday had terrible service! I mad because i just wanted to show my mom a good time! I was refused service as if i was a bum on the street begging for change! Told by the manger that it was to late. And there is nothing he can do about his trouble staff!!
Floods is a pretty good place for good music and food HOWEVER professional courtesy and overall business etiquette is seriously lacking. Tried to go on a Tuesday around 4:45pm for their daily happy hour food and drinks. Although the internet said they opened at 3pm I called just in case and the automated message said they open at 4pm. When I got their they were completely closed and it didn't look like they were even close to being open. I just don't understand how you can advertise a happy hour and open times when no one is there. If it wasn't for the entertainment and great mid day specials I do not think I would visit an establishment that clearly does not take its own business seriously.
Love this place!! The food is excellent. Just mentioning Flood's and my mouth waters. Soul food done right! They have live music on one side and a dj with a dance floor on the other side. Gets crowded so make sure you come earlier. They do have a cover charge between $5- $10. They also have valet which is normally $5, which I would recommend. This is for an older crowd so 25 and up.
Food bomb.. Chris make best drinks.. Hood spot good food and live music
Floods is a gold mine which serves delicious food and make tasty cocktails, however Tuesday evening we valeted and went inside and sat near the bar, after 10 minutes of sitting the bartender looked over at us ( mind you it's not crowded) and say " I'll send a waitress over to yall". We sat there discussing what each other wanted to order so my friend went to the restroom and she came back and was wondering had anyone been to our table to take the order. I said nope and it's been another 10 minutes gone by. A bus boy comes by and I asked about my concerns to celebrate my birthday the following Tuesday. He gave me the requirements needed and said I should speak to a manager and he left our table to get him or her. Now 20 minutes has gone by: no one offers us a glass of ice, napkin, a drink or to place an order. We politely left out the bar to get our car. The customer service is terrible. It is rude and unprofessional to walk into any place of business and be ignored. Come on people we must do better.....you're located in the best spot to make money..... I wanted to invited 30 family members and friends to hangout with me next week at Floods and I wanted to pay for my guest valet but you missed out on that little money.....so it be spend at a club inside the casino
I love the food here. Never really had any complaints about the food. However, the bartenders vary in who I would say is courteous and well organized. My friend and I went to get a drink or 2 the other night and the bartender refused to make her drink. He was doing it in a jokingly manner but this actually unsettled my friend. We laughed it off but in reality she wanted her particular drink. His reason was that the drink was "weak". So he made her another drink which was actually really good. But it's not what she asked for. I also think that they need some bar etiquette training. Another girl was making drink behind the bar and as she scoops ice it was falling all over the bar. Ice rolled off the bartop and it was just be sloppy. The atmosphere is pretty good depending on the day and time that you go.
I was cool til I saw a gigantic cockroach jump a cross the bar then I cancelled my food order
I had a surprise bday party at floods and the owner was absolutely horrible to me and my friends. I even came back for food a few days later and couldnt even get a drink or food order without chasing down the rude waitresses. Unbelievable.
Horrible service, waited over an hour for our food. Very unorganized! Seating arrangements are unorganized as well. Horrible!
Great food great music nice atmosphere
Good food, drinks, & music.
The food was awesome. But the waitress was a little slow I end up having to order my food from the bar and waitressing it to my table myself not a good look. I will return to eat already got something set up for tonight
Food and drinks were good. Service alittle slow. But worth the wait.
Happy hour has awesome specials... $3 Lamb chops, $2 buffalo shrimp, and $5 Long Islands.
The BEST BAR in Detroit. Food and service is great. You feel like family when your here. BEST HAPPY HOUR in the city. Love the entertainment
My first time, and I was disappointed with the service, ignored from the very beginning it took me over 40 minutes to get my first drink and here it is 10:42 and my food just arrived in almost 2 Hours , I'm so out done, the food is COLD!!!!! So Sad 😑😞👎
I would recommend going during the week, on weekends this place turns into a club atmosphere. But the food was amazing!
Busy on a Friday night, so expect to wait for a table. Food was excellent, friendly service once you get a seat. Great music.
We had a roach crawling in our food. Received a refund but I rather have had clean, good food. Owner needs to call pest control ASAP. It's no way kitchen staff should let a roach come out in the food, I'm sure they are aware of the issue.
Attended birthday party...overpriced food that was overcooked. Crowded and loud. Be prepared to pay valet and cover charge. I don't like the fact that your uncovered food passed 150 talking singing drunk people. I don't plan to go there ever again...just not my crowd.
The guy at the door was very rude and for no reason. I called before I came and was told I could do a pick up. Once I got there he wouldn't let me or my cousin in because I wasn't dressed up even though my outfit was better than his on a regular day! He has a stank attitude and for that I will never come back to this place. I don't rude or ghetto and he was both which leads me to believe the establishment is also a hood function. I'm good!
Euphoric atmosphere... great food... and very tight security...
Rita is a excellent server! Very friendly and funny! The food was hot, fresh, and good! Good music and good drinks...you just can't beat the place! Keep up the great work Floods!!
Great food!! Great drinks!! Great atmosphere!! The live band is always amazing!! This is my favorite spot in Downtown Detroit!!!
I was just at floods a week ago for my bday Food still OFF the HOOK! Lol I was a lil disappointed I booked tables for my bday and somehow they told me the owner forgot to write it down so when all my guest arrived they had to find random tables to sit at but my waitress Jo Ann was AWESOME! and made sure we were good I still had a good time
Wonderful service and excellent food. My first time there and I had a wonderful time
I actually hate this establishment, due to an incident that happened here a few years ago, and confirmed even more with my last visit, cause nothin has changed. They should actually pay us for comin here. The service was EXTREMELY SLO...it took at least 20 mins to receive a drink and when we did get it, we couldn't pay until the server took another 10mins to come bac with the bill, what sense does that make🤔 Its jus too crowded, ppl all over, not enough room anywhere or seats, where's the live entertainment? All these years and all the money you would think it would be a more comfortable place, but hey I no longer come here, I was there supporting a special bday is the ONLY reason I came in there and I got out as quick as I could, hopefully not to return! This coagnac drink was actually pretty good....🤔
The catfish and shrimp was amazing. Chicken was a little dry. My drink was really good as well. Loved the service and ambiance. Karaoke night was really good. Great restaurant/bar. It was crowded on a Sunday night so I stood the entire time. Get there early.
Food was great. Service however was all over the place. The waiter seemed so overwhelmed with tables, he didn't have time to even really wait on us. We'd ask a question or ask for something and he'd be gone before we could even finish our thoughts. Way too crowded for people who want to just enjoy a meal. Live band and regular music going all night at the same time. That was irritating and loud. Food was so good tho, I'd consider going back if the place was a little slower than what I encountered
In the distant past Floods was a great bar for live music, great food, with a great staff. Now with the DJ side and the live bands taking what seems like 2 hour breaks after arriving late it's not so good. The bar staff on the side where the live music is also need training in professionalism. They are ok, but can often be too friendly to a point of insulting. I'm alright with it but they don't know me like that.
Also, all the security dudes (and 1 female) security at the front door… seriously! It's like a blockade of big people that is a deterrent. I HATE getting patted down. It only happens at the black bars but "we" claim to be peaceful, but have no trust because we know the truth about ourselves. Though i don't see Floods as a place of trouble so why the body check? Why can't our people have a welcoming entrance?
So torn on this review! The food is amazing, they have great food specials, karaoke night is fun! But the service is all over the place.
Stated they opened at 4pm, but didnt open the doors till 415 if not later. Could see the staff just lolly gagging and talking while there was well over 10 people waiting in line. Had to physically call the restaurant from outside and ask if they were actually going to open.
Waitress was friendly but just not a good waitress, waited so long for our food I had to flag down a bus boy who then returned and said it was coming. Had to ask to get more water EVERY TIME.
When it did come out 5 more minutes later ( after the table across from us was already done eating but arrived at the same time as us) I had to check the temperature because it took soooo long. Well over 20 minutes.
I think she just forgot about us completely.
If they could get staff that is not just friendly wait staff but efficient wait staff I would change my review to a 5 star.
Great place, great food and STRONG drinks. Neighborhood staple for over 30 years makes for a family feel with lots of familiar faces. Chris the bartender is the craziest and vest bartender in the city!
Went to Floods Sunday, I have the lamb chops, mac & cheese & greens.. the food was great, nice relaxed crowd! Music was nice! by 11pm the place was packed! service was fast drinks were flowing! 5 stars!
I really enjoyed my night at Floods!!!! The food & drinks were A1. I really felt safe after a couple of guys got into an argument & the one bouncer at that back door intervened & calmed the situation in the most professional manner. I believe his name is Chop. He even had someone escort myself & my friends to our car at the end of the night, on top of being a true gentleman. We will definitely be back after the amazing night we had. My girls & I were considering making this our regular hang out.
Drinks are strong and refreshing, lamb chops are juicy, live music on one side, DJ on the other and they blend perfectly without missing a beat! Valet is superb and nothing has ever been stolen from my vehicle. No drama, adult fun
I went to Floods last week in had a great time. The music and food was great. And it made me feel comfortable and safe down there especially this handsome chocolate bouncer name Chop.. I will be back again
Nice place... kind of expensive... you can't call in your order but the food is very good...
Update: 3 Months later.. rating stays at 4.. They have these new slush drinks that are great! Ask for the Incredible Hulk...
The only reason Floods does not get a 5 star is because they charge you an entrance fee after a certain time.... Which is extremely weird... It's more of a bar and grill than a night club....
It was $10.00 just to get in...definitely not worth it..no tables to sit. Finally was able to get a table after over an hour...ordered lamp chops...we waited awhile to get them but it was worth the wait!! Food was excellent! Will always over to go now..not paying to get in then paying to eat..doesn't make sense!!
Love the live music and chill atmosphere. The bar is occasionally slow on drinks, but the place is always packed which makes it challenging. One of my favorite spots to visit in the D.
Great mix of music and vibes. Usually Soul or R&B music (usually by a cover band) in the front and Rap and newer R&B in the rear makes for a great mix. Food is very good but the building isn't the biggest and ordering a drink or getting a seat can sometimes be a task during peak hours (typical friday-sunday 10pm-2am). Good mix of people from all walks of life and just an overall good experience. No Fitted caps and a cover charge on weekends.
Great food and atmosphere. My favorite entree is the lamb chops dinner with greens and yams. You can't go wrong with that order. But then again, it's all good food so you good either way.
This place was amazing. I got to order food, drinks, and 💃. I really enjoyed myself here. If your looking for a nice bar and grill to chill at floods is definitely the right spot. Rather you are with your girls/boys or significant other this is the best spot.
Live music in one room DJ in the other at the same time. it was awesome. Takes a little while to get a drink. they can use more bartenders
Horrible experience! My family and I went here on Mother's Day, what a night. The valet service lost my keys and it took them almost an hour to find them. Security was very rude about the entire situation and acted as if it was beneath them. I will never go to Floods again. They need to hire better people, customer service and hospitality is something businesses like this should hold to the highest degree. I can honestly say Floods does not embody even satisfactory customer service or hospitality. Even when I spoke to Kim the manager on duty today, I didn't feel a sense of urgency or care from her. I will be offering my experience to all who are willing to listen. This is unacceptable and highly unprofessional.
I have only been to this place once. Based on first impressions.
Pros: There is great love music bands on one side of the bar and a DJ on the other. The food is pretty good. There is a great ambiance about the location. The drinks are strong so make you only have about 1, 2 max of you're driving. Parking is okay. You can park for free at the casino across the street or in a neighborhood nearby or pay for parking downtown. There is also valet.
Cons: Service was so slow. The waitress was awesome but, she needed help. She had to care for way too many tables on her own. Due to her having so many tables so got a couple of people in my party order wrong including mine. She had us keep the extra items for free and brought us the correct items. This also caused her to mess up the Bill's multiple times.
Overall it was a good experience.
4 stars for the atmosphere. Hip hop on one side, R&B, live band, on the other side. But there was one waitress for an entire section and she was a little slow. We ordered drinks, and had to remind her again, like 10 min later. But, it was just "her" in our section.
I have gone here several times for several years and always have a good time. Last night I thought the bartenders were really slow addressing people that were sitting around the bar. And the drinks were not on point at all I asked for Cosmo and got something with a cherry in it and really sweet and I love my Cosmo so I had to knock it down and stir and I was not charged for it. But it is a great meeting place and I always have a good time.
The place is a Detroit staple! You have to check out their awesome live music and dance wherever you are! These guys made me get up and move, which is not normal for me. Had a great time and will definitely be heading back as soon as we can!
Had an awesome time as Flood"s. Great music and delicious food. It's Unique because it has a live band on one side and a DJ spinning on the other. Both were amazing!
Great service, good food, tasty food items. Enjoyed myself and my guest. I was turned around at the door because I had on sandals.
No opened toe shoes for Men, I like adhering to a Dress Code. I left, changed shoes and returned; Had A Ball! Thanks
The food here was awesome and I mean awesome. So good I went back twice. That mac and cheese.... Lawd have mercy. If you visit Detroit and you want some good soul food check this place out.
Haven't been here in a while. Food was great. Chicken wings mac n cheese and greens. Yummy and the service was great. I will be back soon.
One of my favorite spots in the D to hang out!!! Great food, drinks, music and people! Also got to give a shout-out to my boy Larry! Best service period!!! He always makes sure myself and whoever is with me gets the best of the best!
If you're ever downtown go check out Flood's you won't regret it!
Today we experienced service from Larry!!! He was very attentive, quick and he listened and got our order right the first time. He made sure we had all of our condiments, made sure the food was hot and anything we needed he took care of promptly. What I like most about him is that he paid attention to detail. As soon as he noticed our glasses was getting low he was coming with more beverages. We didn't have to ask ...he just did and thats what a great server is.
We'll definitely be back and will ONLY be requesting him period!!
Thank you Larry for being AWESOME!
I had a good time at floods, good soul food and good entertainment depending on what night you go there. It can get a little crowded on Sundays, but overall it's a good experience. If you're looking for a mixture of jaz , old school and new music, floods is your destination. Good place where mature black professionals hang out. I'm giving it a 4 due to the space and how it get crowded at times. The space is somewhat confined and you are constantly bumping into people. But overall a nice place to kick it, get some drinks and enjoy some good cooking.
I visit floods very often & I always receive exceptional service from Larry. He’s very attentive to everyone’s order as well as engages in conversation making sure we are satisfied with our meal & beverages. He always has a great attitude and is always willing to go above and beyond & I love that!
I always recommend his section due to his outstanding service
WORST SERVICE EVER!!! I visited with a friend who came in from out of town and we were really excited to come here but when we arrived we literally sat at a table for at least 30 minutes without being greeted, given anything to drink, we weren't acknowledged AT ALL. The place wasn't busy, half empty actually. The waitress walked past us multiple times actually avoiding us, we couldn't get her attention and ultimately left and went else where. I will NEVER come back and don't recommend this place to anyone. Don't even waste your time, the food is good but not worth the hassle when there's tons of soul food places in Detroit with better service. Please get it together. 🙄
This is a fun place for locals. The food is good. They have live music and a dj. There is valet and usually a $5-$10 cover depending on the night. Their catfish is good. They have a lot of servers on the floor at all times.
Food was good. Service was horrible. Went on Wednesday night and it took over an hour to get food. Had a live band on one side and DJ on the other side. Oddly you couldn't hear both of them at the same time which was great. You would only hear the DJ if on that side and the band if on the other side. Drinks were half full.
Would go for atmosphere but nothing else.
It's cramped but the food is amazing and the music is great! If you can find a seat KEEP IT! It will make your experience much better. Get the shrimp!!!
3rd visit. Drinks terrific. Only complaint would be the limited seating. Food delicious! Layed back crowd. Highly recommended
A Detroit Staple. Wednesday nights is the happy hour crowd but they have live music on Saturdays along with a DJ. The food is delicious and the kitchen stays open pretty late. Its usually a cover charge and valet is always $10.
Great happy hour spot. Good food. Good music. Andrea is a dope bar tender! And if you want to learn Detroit Ballroom...come wed 6-8pm!
Experience was not great as it was before. Arrive at 6:30 PM during happy hour and was avoided for the happy hour specials during that time. Waitress was not friendly at all and told us she was leaving, and that someone else would serve us. So instead of leaving she went to another part of the restaurant. To serve others. Then 7 pm came and happy hour was over. Then we were told the booths are $200.00 to $300.00 for group of people four or more to be in and we had to order food and drinks with an 18% gratuity per person. Wow thanks for the great service!!
Love this place!! Every time I am in town visiting friends...going to Floods is a MUST!!!!! Macaroni is always on point and so are the yams!! And the sidecars are why I also keep coming back!! The music is always good and so is the service. Looking forward to my next visit.
I had a good first experience here. Greeted promptly at the door. The food, drinks, and music was on point:. Definitely will be back when I’m in town visiting.
Reservations were made for a work celebration. The server assigned to our tables was THE WORST!! She was not attentive, it took over 25-30 minutes per guest to get our tabs. Not to mention, after receiving horrible service the server ACCUSED one of our guest of leaving and not paying the bill; when the actual truth was that it took so long for her to return to pick up the tab the guest actually paid at the bar because the server could not be found. I am a huge believer in you get what you pay for; therefore, with so many new restaurants in the downtown area with good drinks special and a variety of foods we company will take our business elsewhere.
Several of us were in town for meetings, so we decided to try this bar Saturday evening. The food, band, and drinks were great!! Brianna was a great bartender and we had a good time! Get there early as it gets packed. Will definitely come back when in town.
I don't go to Floods often but when I do its usually to check out the great music and mature adult activities help there. I also enjoy tge parties given by my brothers, Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. The Alpha events always draw a large crowd of people who know how to party, look good and have a good time.
Excellent food, music, and atmosphere. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was attentive while very busy. Packed on a Friday night.
The food was good, but not real large portions. The band was goods, but we had to contend with the jukebox and the band playing at the same time couldn't enjoy the music as well. There is also a cover charge if you get there after a certain time, and I must mention the $20 for parking. The overall experience was good for my 1st time there.
Much better than my previous visits. Some of the security outside are ignorant. They damage the class factor. The food is great and the setup is better than most bars of this caliber
The music was BANGIN. Also let me say. I made a mistake regarding my bill. The young lady who was the waitress was very customer service. In other words she did not argue. She was very professional. Soon after I realized I WAS WRONG! Smh...I had to right the wrong. She was STILL very professional. Thanks!
1st time there! Great food, nice live band & good music from DJ! Will definitely go again when in Detroit.
Not my cup of tea. The food is good. Very crowded. We had a company event and no one knew who our wait person was.
The food was very delicious and it was worth the wait. We will be back. Staff was great.
First time visiting. Nice and clean atmosphere, fast and friendly service as well as valet. Food was delicious and priced fair. I would suggest frying the fish a bit harder and with corn meal; it was too soft for my liking.
My gf and I came here for a nightcap on a Saturday night. We didn't get anything to eat but we each ordered a cocktail, both of which were nice and strong. There was music playing in 2 different sections. We sat near the stage in the front, by the bar. And I'm so good we did because the live band started up. They. Were. AMAZING!! Had the whole crowd vibing with them. I absolutely cannot wait to go back, and I hope that band (313) is there again!
Cool, Nice, Clean Bar if you like the older crowd. I enjoyed myself. $10 to get in $10 valet. Bartender can not make drinks. Taste like koolaid. But very safe nice place downtown Detroit.
This is a good spot to visit for music, dance, drinks and food. The bar staff is attentive unlike other places. The food is also good.
Nice place to meet people and socialize!! Nice music and nice drinks as well :-). A downtown Detroit gem!!
I visited Flood's Bar and Grille this past Saturday night. I loved the atmosphere here. The food was excellent. Hats off to the chef, however, the COOORN Bread, should have been skillet Southern Style and not Jiffy! I am from Nashville,TN. My second cousin, who is from Detroit, frequents this place often. Our waitress, Cocoa, gave us good service. The bouncer, Jerome, made us feel safe, " 'Cause it Jerome's in the house, Shut your mouth!' "
The music was off the chain. I don't know the name of the R&B Band that played, but they were great, too. The bartender makes a Sweet and Sour drink that's makes.your hip dip and your body drip.
I highly recommend coming here to downtown Detroit and near Greektown. If you are from out of town/a local, valet parking is available to you.
Been around for years and still just as small as ever. LOL. Just makes it more intimate. Nice after work get together spot. Pretty good happy hour prices for food and drinks. Food is delish and the drinks aren't watered down.
Nice atmosphere but very crowded, so no place to sit. It took us 20 minutes to get a drink at the VERY CHAOTIC bar. Valet was closed, so we parked across the street for $10.
Such a disappointment. I used to be a regular in the early 2000's. The food has gone down a lot. Salt has replaced good old flavor.. The music is way too loud. The street side along the windows wasn't crowded this past Friday when I went around 5pm. The DJ was setup by 7pm. It was a mature crowd. Why set the DJ up and have him blast music to the point no one can have conversation with their drinks. There were several empty tables! No need for loud music. And the service has become such a disappointment. Almost 30-40 minutes for drink. This has been a staple gathering spot for years so I guess the family and management feel they don't need to change or improve.
Nice cool atmosphere! I heard great things from a few people. I didn't get the pleasure to try the food because I had to leave in a emergency. The karaoke section was live and entertaining! I wasn't sitting by the Karaoke section but from across the room..the voices and music sounded good in Harmony❤❤I think they have a dance floor there too. I will definitely visit this place again just so that I can really get to sit down, eat, drink and possibly dance! It looks nice inside too! Bonus! The waitress/waiters seem very nice! Keep up the great work Detroit👌🏽👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I absolutely loved this place. I hadn't been there in years .I was glad to see that the music ,drinks and food was on point.a word to the wise if you are not a expert hustler you might wanna stay off the dance floor. Oh a special mention to Tony for going above and beyond to ensure me and my girls were safe upon leaving at closing. This might be our weekly hangout spot.
You must have to come very early to enjoy these 5 star services because I always experience the 2 star treatment if I get there after 8pm.
The run down: No where to park, $10 valet, $10 cover, frisked at door, no where to sit, finally find a seat and can't find a waiter for 10 minutes. Finally get a waiter, she doesn't clean the table, she takes the order, takes 20 minutes and brings the wrong order with no utensils.
I had to wait 20 more minutes for my correct order and no fork while my friend is starting to finish her meal. We screamed while having a conversation the whole night. Finally got my fork, ate, and left.
The plus side: good music, good food, good spot when not crowded. But too expensive and waitress not attentive enough for me to come back. I almost did not tip because I had to flag down 3 waiters just to get 1 fork.
I liked this spot. Grown and sexy for the African American crowd. (All welcome tho of course.) Nice vibes without the riff raff
Great atmosphere and a good time! The kitchen couldn't accommodate my guest with champagne GLASSES, HOWEVER, attempted to charge me $126.00....Plastic liquor cups instead! After 30 plus mins of searching 4 glasses, I gave them back their champagne....WOW!!!!
The only reason I did not give this establishment five stars is due to the older African-American guy working valet who was very rude and curt, I politely asked for instructions about the valet parking, he gave snarky responses, instead of informing me of the price of valet when I asked initially, he told me to drive all the way around back to the entrance, then he decided to quote the price, kept telling me that the sign was "there" and I asked him you couldn't read the sign to me, I could not read the sign from where I was parked, since I was on the opposite side facing Lafayette. He came to open the door for my friend on the passenger side, then when he came to my side, the driver side, he stood there, did not open the door and when I get out of my vehicle he demanded that ten dollars was required upfront, so I told him my friend was paying the fee, he had a short response "well I didn't know", I just came to have a nice time, not be mistreated or disrespected by a man l never met nor disrespected in any way, despite how he spoke and treated me. The guy was confrontational during the entire encounter, so it gave me the impression that he was treating me based on how I appeared ,which does not validate or justify his unruliness. He was the only encounter that I was not pleased with, I did not understand why he was so rude to me, when I was being polite to him.. My friend invited me to this place after her job, from the guy checking ID, the two servers, and the patrons were extremely nice and friendly, I truly enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and drinks were delicious, the price is a little hefty, but I understand it's a bar and it was a Friday night.
Didn't eat, but the ambiance was fantastic!! Music was great. Waitresses were personable and friendly. I'll definitely be there again.
It’s been years since I’ve been here and have to say I’m very disappointed on my experience tonight. $20 cover charge but and get a drink in a reasonable amount of time 40 minutes is a long time to wait for a drink. The lady next to me been waiting an hour. And they are out of Jack Daniels! One person running the bar in the back! We were gonna order food but won’t get that probably fir a couple hours. Leaving after this one drink. Won’t be back.
Changed the menu. Food was cold and not as good as it once was. Music was terrible and no live band. Waitress was the best part of this experience the rest was trash
Nice informal sports bar and family restaurant in Las Ola's, with Pub ambiance inside and tables outside. They have a Gluten free menu, but did not have gluten free desserts. The burgers and sandwiches are excellent. The portions are generous and the service was very good. They have a decent wine list and great beer list!!
The bartender Tee was the absolute best! He was attentive and quick. He continued to keep up even as the crowd grew. I didn't have to continuously ask for water. He saw my glass and kept it refilled. I didn't feel hounded to buy drink after drink, but he made sure to keep an eye out by making simple eye contact to check on me and others at the bar.
From front door two dining experience all staff including including security wonderful definitely a hot 🔥 spot in Detroit 😎 food was phenomenal definitely 🥄 and we can't forget the cocktails and live DJ music 🕺💃🕴️ and we can't forget
Wonderful place with delicious drink and bar food. Best music and server, The experience was excellent so i will definitely stay there again.
Great experience for the social distancing and patio service.. waitresses were friendly and prompt..
The cocktails and snacks are tasty, the prices are pretty good and the atmosphere is always friendly!
Horrible service. Brought my friend here from out of town. Waitress gave us water and disappeared. Then she finally took our drink and food order. She was nowhere to be seen for 40 minutes so we asked the girl at the bar if we could at least get our drinks. She told us to wait a minute while she hung and and kissed her boyfriend at the bar. Our waitress finally came out and said she would bring our drinks. She disappeared into the back with another male “associate “ and never returned. We finally left after waiting over an hour and never even got our drinks let alone our food. Very disappointed
It was horrible. Me & my friend ordered our drink & meals last night around midnight. Then the waitress disappeared & never checked on us. After sitting down for 45 minutes we kept seeing everyone else get their food & drinks so I walked to the bar & said something. The girl with bright red hair said give her a minute. So we waited 6 minutes & still nothing so we just walked out. My friend noticed our waitress had a guy there that she kept holding hands with & paying him attention. Im not from Michigan but i visit frequently & ill never come back to this place 😔
Dined at this restaurant a few weeks ago, the service was great & the food was on point. When I arrived last night they changed entry to 25 and up. Unheard of but won’t be returning when I turn 25 next year! Lol
The Food is A1 and the atmosphere is so Beautiful and Grown folks like chilled and laid back. Nice place to eat dance and have a great time
One caveat...they make you pay 20% gratuity. But the service and food warrant nothing less!
