How would you rate Ezell's Fried Chicken?
Best fried chicken in Seattle hands down. You can tell the place is good by how busy they always are, but that doesn't mean you have to wait. Food comes out fast, ordering is fast and easy. Their spicy chicken is off the hook. Their rolls are great and the sides are good. Being that it is so popular you can expect fresh and steaming hot chicken every time. Note this is a pickup only type of place. You can't dine here but it is perfect for a quick weeknight meal or for a picnic in the park.
They also have Faygo pops, which, being from Michigan, totally made my day. I haven't seen Faygo anywhere else. You must try the red pop or the creme sodas.
I heard a ton of great things about this place before I had it. It wasn't terrible but I didn't think it was worth the hype. We got the 8pc chicken with some sides. The potato salad & coleslaw is awesome but the mashed potatoes and gravy were gross & really runny & watery. I'd give it another chance but likely not anytime soon.
Best fried chicken you can buy. Nowhere to sit and eat - but if you are in a hurry and need a good bite... This is the place for some good ol' fried chicken.
Now, this is coming from someone who not only has had family friends make amazing Southern fried chicken, but I have frequented restaurants who have turned out fried chicken that is by far better than anything I could make at home.
I am not going to lie, given the raving I had heard, I went into Ezell's expecting something pretty damn good. I go in, wait in a relatively short line and I ordered the 1/2 pound original tenders, as they are something that should be not to hard to make right. When asked, "what dipping sauce I would like," I asked if any sauces were made in house or if any were a special recipe... the front woman said I don't know. I find that most of the sauces are prepackaged, Sysco or some other generic cups of sauce. That saddened me.
My order comes up very quick and I was surprised with the speedy service. Once I get home, I open it up and I find that the biscuit I was expecting was a sweet dinner roll, not a biscuit. This dinner roll was marginally better than what I could buy in the store and it was not even close to anything that I could have made at home. I get to the chicken and I found that although it was very tender, not too greasy, and it tore apart easily, it was so greatly lacking in flavor. I have no idea what seasonings went into this, but it tasted merely like flour, milk, and a touch of salt. A grave disappointment.
I don't know how anything else is on the menu and maybe I did not pick the best menu option, but I do not think I am going back to find out.
Let down from all the hype, but it was fried chicken...
There aren't any tables here so you have to take it to go. That said, get the fried okra. It takes a few extra minutes but it's worth it.
The chicken isn't worth the hype it gets but it's good fried chicken. The chicken and sides are tasty. If I'm in the mood for fried chicken, then Ezell's is the first place I think of going to.
Ezells makes some of the best chicken around. Spicy and original are great. Mashed potatos, gravy, and corn were pretty good. Comin back soon to get more and try more sides
Some of the best chicken strips I've ever had! The spicy ones at least. I've never had the regular ones.
Hands down the best fried chicken in the area. The pricing is awesome, the service is quick (usually), and always quality food. If you're local and go often I recommend checking Garfield's sports calendar. This place can be packed before/during/after basketball games and other sporting events. Doesn't usually get too busy after school but the area can be pretty congested. I've never had the spicy chicken but all my friends and family swear by it! The rolls are always fresh and the perfect accompaniment for the chicken!
Amazing place for friend chicken, get the spicy chicken. Nice staff as well. It can be slow at times but that's just them being popular; be sure to check your orders before you leave when they are busy.
Some of the best fried chicken in Seattle. Very reminiscent of southern style. Baked beans and their fresh rolls almost steal the show.
A Seattle classic. Spicy + dark meat forever!
Everyone goes somewhere to itch their fried chicken craving, and youre doing yourself a disservice if you're not coming to Ezell's. Epitome of the delicious BBQ shack, grab your spicy chicken and sweet bread
It's hard to imagine why anyone would knock any stars off this place. It's not gourment nor does it pretend to be. This is fast food fried chicken with coleslaw, BBQ beans, fresh rolls...the crust is crunchy, the chicken is tender, and everything is well seasoned. And the prices are at the right bang for the buck. Just go there already!
Having had a lot of great fried chicken in the south, I came to Ezell's hoping to be amazed after hearing a lot of local hype, but I left fairly unimpressed. The breading was way too thick and hard, and it wasn't bursting with flavor or spices. Nor was it particularly juicy, like you'd expect from great fried chicken. Very dry. The mashed potatoes were similarly disappointing.
The peach cobbler is amazing. Get extra rolls (the buttery goodness can't be beat). Not impressed by the gravy, but everything else is on fleek.
The guy on the phone when i tried calling in a order was rude af telling me to hurry the f up whIle not being able to take an order. He shouldnt get mad at the customers because he don't know how to read or write. I never had this problem in tacoma. This hood rat punk is the reason I will no longer eat from their establishment again.
Awesome rolls, for great prices. Average service, and I'm very sure that it's all super unhealthy. I'm vegetarian, so I haven't tried the chicken, but everyone I spoke to had very good things to say about it. There's limited for selection, and the fries aren't very good without lots of seasoning and sauce.
Ever since I found this Ezell's chicken, I do not like KFC anymore.
The way that they batter their chicken here is unlike any other chicken that I've eaten. It's almost tempura style and that makes it come out super crispy. I always order mine spicy but I have yet to actually get any that actually has a kick to it. They should just say plain or seasoned. I do not like the fries. They are flavorless, bland and just not good. The fried okra is amazing and they have many other sides to choose from. The peach cobbler is amazing too.
I always opt for 1lb of spicy strips with honey mustard for dipping. It comes with 2 sweet bread rolls and there is nothing better in my opinion.
If you're looking for some awesome fried chicken then you have to go to Ezell's. It will change your life.
Thanks for reading.
Except for the breadroll which was so sweet it was almost like a muffin the place is mediocre. Dont know what Oprah is on about?!?
This original Ezell's location is still the best. Even though it is has limited parking, is small and cramped inside and difficult to get to while the street improvements on 23rd are happening, it is worth the inconvenience because none of the new locations have seemed to replicate the exact taste of the original.
This is the location that introduced me to Ezell's chicken 20 years ago, so maybe the nostalgia itself makes the food taste better. There is no indoor seating, just a line to the registers and a pick-up area for your food.
My go-to item is a pound of spicy chicken strips, and a side of fries. I don't care too much for any of the other sides. The rolls are always flavorful and baked fresh daily.
If you are trying Ezell's for the first time, definitely take the time to visit the original location.
I am a fan of their chicken strips, mac and cheese, and original crispy chicken sammy. Cajun fries are also pretty good once in awhile. It's typically pretty packed during the lunch and dinner rushes, but the staff does a good job keeping everything running relatively quick and smoothly. I very sad that Ezell's changed their menu a month or two ago. I absolutely loved their sloppy bbq chicken sandwich! It was delicious, messy, fun, and a staple of my work week lunch. New menu now includes a side and beverage with a sandwich which is cool, but the crispy chicken has NOTHING on the sloppy bbq shredded chicken awesomeness. RIP Mr sloppy.
I got there maybe 30 40 minutes before closing. They ran out of EVERYTHING didn't have anything I came there for. The girl taking my order didn't help at all I ended up getting something I really didn't want. I over heard her ask the guy in front of me if he wanted any "extras" for the inconvenience but not once offered this to me. She did offer to take a dollars off but in the end I was still charged full price for a meal I didn't even come for. The staff was playing around instead of cooking and the girl at the front wasn't very friendly to have in the front . Chicken was good but won't gont back to this location.
Seattleite Friendly! 10/10 will always be a returning customer!
I'M IN LOVE!
This is the /ONLY/ place I eat chicken.
The Spicy Non-Spicy Chicken-Strips are to die for! But wait!? I don't die thats how good the No Stress Chicken they try to serve as fast as possible is! B)
Out of almost every side dish. I saw them pull fresh chicken out, yet they gave me a bag of hard, burnt chicken strips, and told other patrons who were driving up that they were closed, though they were not scheduled to close for 2 more hours, and when questioned why they said they were out of chicken.
The other locations are better. This is not a sit down place, it's a grab and go. The chicken is sitting on warmers and it's not as juicy and wonderful as the Lynnwood and Spokane locations where they make it fresh. It still tastes good though.
The chicken was very bland. Service was not good at all. I said thank you and got no thank you in return. Aside from that I won't go back. I can easily make something at home that is much better.
Very turned off by extremely rude, unprofessional, and unfriendly staff. They did not acknowledge our presence nor care for our business. It was as if we were a major inconvenience for them. Chicken is totally overrated, overpriced, and a waste of time to try. It is very crispy but bland. Potato salad is just mostly mayo. The tenders were soggy, greasy, and had no taste. I give them one star for their bread rolls but that is about it. As soon as our order was given to us, they were yelling to get the doors locked ASAP, and it was only 9:20pm, when it is advertised on the door that they close at 10pm. They still had trays of chicken. I had looked very forward to coming here and I am very disappointed to have had the worst experience.
Why would you give a negative review when you come in under an hour of closing? This place is always busy, come in early or you lose out! This place is amazing. Refuse to get any fried chicken elsewhere
Best fried chicken I've ever had, and I'm from the south. Quick service and great food.
My rating is for the chicken...gizzards too. I recognize that the service can sometimes be unappealing to certain people. You don't go to a fried chicken take-out spot for service. It's been this way for a long time. You won't always get addressed or greeted because most people just walk up and order. I'm a little desensitized to it, having gone to high school across the street. Chicken is good quality and very consistent. Crispy skin, spicy is just a little bit crunchier, and well seasoned. Spicy is legit, probably comparable to a 2 or 3 star depending on the batch. Gizzards are good, takes an extra 15 minutes because they prepare them once you order. Rolls are good, I usually get a half dozen extra. Sides are average but not a total waste of time. Faygo so good. Dessert is cobbler or pie, both are average options given that it's a take-out place.
I'm a little disappointed with the inflation that's taking place here. The small spicy strip used to be around 7-8 strips of chicken with a roll for around 5. last time i was here, i got 3 skinny chicken strips and a roll for $9. that's outrageous. don't order the small spicy strip, you will feel robbed. hopefully they don't do that to the large but the pricing and portions here have gotten out of hand. heaven sent is better.
It's good and fairly decently priced. Of course, I don't think it compares to a place like Roscoe's, especially considering the wait you have to go through for your food. Part of that is there is this place is takeout only. By the time you get home the chicken has already cooled down and doesn't taste as good.
The food is always fresh. I'm personally a sucker for those rolls. The best part is that they have my order up so quickly. I love these guys!
The place feels like a fight could break out at any moment, I'm always eying exits in case of gun fire. And that's just my concerns with the staff.
Foods wonderful though.
Nothing like the original. But be prepared to wait. The neighborhood has changed and it can be packed. The good thing is when it's busy the food is FRESH!
It's good, always cooked to perfection with extra crispy skin. The spicy option is my favorite, adds flavor without adding complication.
Their food is good. Fried chicken is juicy. Fries is not so crunchy, but it's still ok. Also, I love the rolls. It is soft and a little sweet. The price is fair. By the way, i think Jollibee is the best
Don't let this place fool you. Thought It may be in a gas station this place is amazing. I got a bbq chicken pizza and a smiroff ice to go along. The best thing is the restaurant is in a gast station so you can buy snacks and drinks here. Con goers check this place out!!!
Service is good and quick. The chicken is tasty and not oily. The sides were just okay and that's the reason I took off a star. Otherwise great place to grab a bite.
Ezell's is a staple of fried chicken in Seattle, if you want good chicken, you come here. They have great sides that come with it, and if you want to fall into a food coma, make sure to get a meal, you won't be able to move for a few days. Their sauces are alright, mainly because they are just not stuff they make themselves, so pass on them, but make sure to dunk your biscuits in their mashed potatoes.
Best chicken strips in the WORLD!!! I crave the spicy strips and honey mustard on a weekly basis. Hands down the VERY best chicken!!!
The spicy chicken and rolls were bomb, the mac n cheese, baked beans and peach cobbler, no so much.
The staff did have attitude but it didn't bother me. I think if your indecisive or are rude yourself, you'll probably see more of it.
I got spicy chicken strips and fries. Was absolutely delicious. There soda was extremely flat and tasted like syrupy water. I would definitely come back to eat here, but bring my own drink.
Came with the family and to 4 year old and a 2 year old all aproved too.
The chicken here is amazing. They offer regular and spicy fried chicken. The sides are not as good as the chicken. They only have a walk up counter. No seating, so all orders are to go.
It's the classic walking place your order good old-fashioned Ezell's Chicken House. No seating inside and they prefer you not sit in your car in the parking lot so be prepared to grab your food and take it back home or to your event. Unfortunately the chicken at this location is a bit greasy than others I've been at and the chicken meat was tough and chewy but still it's a Ezell's and you can't go wrong with tradition!
Consistently tasty chicken. Quick unless it's super busy or you order the okra. No tables. 100% takeout. They sometimes have issues with their POS which moves them to accept only cash.
Aloha! The Best Fried Chicken in Seattle.
We passed by before they closed and we had our chicken to go. Once we settled in our hotel, we chowed down our chicken. WoW ... perfect taste. Even the bread that comes with it were good. The potato salad solid, slaw is great. Why we can't have Ezell's in California? Better than Poppyes and KFC. Our server is from Long beach as before. Nice guy and good service.
Picked up our dinner contribution to take to friends house. I'll get this out of the way first...the customer service is never any good and I would say worse than usual today but that's not why people still flock there. Bought spicy strips w/honey mustard dipping sauce, sweet potato pie, extra rolls, mac&cheese. Strips-while they didn’t appear overcooked they tasted overcooked so I'm thinking oil past its prime, had to ask for dipping sauce as (per usual) it was forgotten. Happens every time I've gone there in last year. To be fair, anymore I only go every few months because of declining quality. Next, the rolls-cold, all 8 of them. Sweet potato pie-emphasis on sweet, too sweet and someone seems to be cheaping out on the binder because it was more like pudding in a shell. The spices were good but I bought pie...not just spices, I have those at home if I wanted to eat a teaspoon. Mac&cheese had good flavor but overcooked mac.
Because we recall the Ezells Oprah thought so highly of she ordered from afar that every few months we try again only to wish we hadn't. Tonight was no exception to that disappointment. If there was a highlight other than being with friends to share the disappointment it would be the peacefulness along the shore of Lake Washington I
Favorite chicken spot in Seattle. My cousins and I LOVE this place. Every time I come visit I have to eat here!!!
Fun place to eat. Food is good and fresh. It is not fancy but good.
Great food! Great service! Would definitely go again.
Chicken was good but fried okra will get a 5 star rating. Fresh rolls smelled amazing and tasted like heaven. Would have given 5 stars overall except they didn't get my order correct and gave me original instead of spicy chicken.
OMG!!!THAT PLACE IS TOO GOOD,have you ever tasted there fried and there muffins I can't even live without them
What can I say that hasn't been said by a million people already. This place has fried chicken down. I love the spicy tenders it's a perfect blend of spiciness. The rolls are bomb and if you get there early enough to get the Mac and cheese DO IT. Mashed potatoes are a close second for me, but that Mac and cheese though... This location is pretty much always crazy and always has a line, but it's all worth it
First time eating here. I wish they had table to sit and enjoy the tasty food! Had to eat in the car
Would not buy from again. Place is old and rundown. Chicken was ok. Scary to park, my car got hit by the passenger opening his door. Luckily no ding was left.
Delicious fried chicken! Rarely a line, but never a bad stop on the way home after work. The baked beans are delicious and the rolls are fresh, but the chicken is famous for a reason — it is probably the best I’ve had since Hattie’s in Saratoga NY. Perfect seasoning, never too salty or greasy, and great with any sort of sauce. I would eat it every day if I didn’t know better.
Chicken was pretty good except a bit too long fried. Somit was a bit dark brown. Otherwise very tasty. It's only a to go place.
Doesn't taste as good as it used to but still the best location in town.
Like Ezells alot although the spicy chicken really isn't spicy BUT they do have the best rolls..lol
Best. Chicken. Ever. I saw this on action Bronson's show on viceland and being as i just moved back to Seattle I had to give it a try. My husband and I ordered the 1lb strip meal and the service was incredibly fast. We could not believe our eyes when we opened the box. We got about ten strips two sides and two rolls for 17.99...so much food! I'm definitely going to be a regular here!
I absolutely love this location for fried chicken and rolls! You have the choice of regular or spicy breading and I always get the spicy (so good).
This is a place where you go to get your meal and leave people there were nice everybody there was cooking it was a good atmosphere and I can't wait to eat it :-)
Loved it, crunchy outside and tender chicken inside it is absolutely one of a kind in a good way
Way over priced for average chicken. I got the spicy and there was no heat to it. There is no seating available, not inside not outside. The fries are krinkle cut like you would buy at Sam's Club, we didn't eat them but threw them away. The mac-n-cheese was homemade but tasted like they messed up. The cheese was the curdly type and we threw away those too. With 3 spoonfulls eaten out of 2 sides.
The food is always fresh. I'm personally a sucker for those rolls. The best part is that they have my order up so quickly. I love these guys! Great chicken restaurant. my boyfriend and I really love coming back here.
Crispy fried chicken. Not soggy or soft. My go-to for fried chicken.
Don't think you're going to get anything healthy here. The rolls will leave grease marks a paper bag. But mmmm-mmmm delicious.
Also, there's no seating. This is take out only.
The manager there on the day I went there (May 2, 2018)was very rude to the cashier. For a mistake that I made and he was trying to correct. But she wasn't hearing anything from either of us. She then bagged my order and once I got home, it was missing items that I was charged for. I called back spoke to the cashier he had me speak to the manager. They both remember me because I was in my work uniform. She was apologetic. And said she would adjust my on my cc. This was my first visit to Ezells in over 6 years. And believe me when I day this, the chicken I had seemed to taste as if it had been sitting there for 6 years. Very hard and dry. Maybe the last time I visit Ezells . Large in part to the behavior of the managers behavior to her employee.
Can't support rudeness directed to me or workers.
Well the reviews surely fooled me. I'm gonna give the benefit of doubt and just say today wasn't a good day to try Ezell's "Famous Chicken" Customer service was weak and chicken was a greasy old non-crunchy mess. Just look at the pics. I'm visiting from out of town but I guess this is what the locals are used to. I've had way better. This tasted no better than Church's Chicken. I actually would of preferred to spend less money at a Popeyes. Two stars are because the mac n cheese and bread was aight
I absolutely love this place. Fried chicken at its finest, whether you like it spicy or not. The bread (baked in a muffin pan) that comes with the chicken is phenomenal. Relatively quick prep, you're not waiting long after your order generally. It's a place where you order food and get out, in your car and go home. I don't think there's an area in which you can sit and eat, unless you're eating in your car. I don't think there's a public restroom. I personally never stayed and ate at this location though, to me, it doesn't seem that sort of place.
Good chicken. Not sure I would make a special trip again, but I would be pleasantly surprised if I stopped in randomly and ate there.
This place has a great take on fried chicken. Their gravy is great and reminds me of the gravy back home in Louisiana. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because I the quality of the chicken is somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes the chicken is made perfect and sometimes it is a little soggy and subpar. Still a great place to eat.
Not all it's cracked out to be I'm sure Oprah Winfrey would be quite disappointed. the chickens always cooked too long so it's going to burn and the toughest the meat is always tough and their side proportion order us are just ridiculously disgusting the staff is always rude and very very disrespectful and every time I go in there the window sills are always dirty the floor is always Dirty Deeds it's just Dusty in there and I know this I bought a soda there in the soda out of the machine thing was just covered in dust. And when you get your food that usually just throw it all in the bag they don't put it in there nice and neat so your side dishes don't explode your bag
Some of my favorite fried chicken. I always order the spicy batter. I never have understood the whole "chicken tenders" thing -- I find that chicken to be dry. Dark meat (with bone) seems the way to go -- always juicy and delicious. The sides are just "okay" -- nothing special. The rolls are fine, though a bit too sweet for my taste.
OMG, served piping hot. The chicken was so crispy on the outside and still super juicy on the inside. Would highly recommend.
Dude. Ordered a delivery from this place because my girlfriend got dental work done today and couldn't eat much and wanted mashed potatoes. We ordered a meal with mashed potatoes. They didn't include the mashed potatoes. She also ordered an additional side of gravy for her chicken. You're out of effing gravy, too???
No call, no mention of it, no apology. I'm expecting an adjustment to our order price, but with that lack of concern for service, I'm guessing I'll have to make a formal complaint.
The food is amazing. My friend told me about this place and highly recommended it. The girl at the counter was extremely helpful too. If only I could remember her name. I told her it was my first time here and she helped recommend a few things. Made the process very helpful. Thank you. Great food, great place to eat!!!
Extremely slow service for mediocre fried chicken. Prices are reasonable, but staff are inefficient and there's nothing special about the food
My daughter and I popped in for a bite. Of course there was a short line when we entered, by the time we ordered and walked to the end counter for pick up, there was a line just out of the door. Good eats happen here.
I would hope that the cashier could be a bit more lively. I could tell from her body posture and facial expression that she was 1. irritated
2. had a long day
3. didn't want to be
Good Food cheers you as will a pleasant attitude.
There's Church's and Popeye's, but then there's Ezell's. I love each for different reasons, but I loves me some Ezell's white meat chicken, and I hate white meat! Ever get that taste and just post up in the parking lot til the doors open? Yeah, that's me right now! Open open open... LOL
good chicken, service was alright. but it took a little while. everything i had was great though and i am definitely craving some again and will be back. a seattle classic
Local chicken joint with soul food sides. Great taste you should try the pie.😋
Their staff is very helpful and nice but they do need some improvement
ezells is an old favorite. It a bit on the greasy side. The reason I go here is for the gizzards which are had to find. If your in a light mood go with the spicy snack pack chicken breast. If you order gizzards they will take a bit longer with your order.
Chicken is spicy or mild. Chicken tastes great, rolls not so much.. Popeyes biscuits are much tastier.
Chicken is very expensive, and more often then not the fountain drinks are water down or flat making them disgusting. Go to kings deli. Better quality chicken.
Chicken is very expensive, and more often then not the fountain drinks are water down or flat making them disgusting and migraine triggering. Also be careful about what time of day you eat here. Garfield students jam pack this place when they have lunch.
Really good chicken when it's good. Lately, the quality has really taken a downturn at the main location. Lukeworm and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. Got sick the last 3 times I've had it and even though I crave it everytime I drive by, I just don't want to risk getting sick again. Your chicken is really good. Please keep up with cleanliness and quality control.
Great chicken. Always busy. Because of the great chicken of course.
Pro-tip: They dont have seats so prepare to take your food to go. Also make sure you get the potato salad.
Still as good as ever. Best Fried Chicken in Seattle!
Pretty good chicken. However, when you order a side of mac & cheese and after you get home you find they gave you corn instead... it bumps the score down. Call me crazy but I expect to get what I ordered.
I got the snack pack to try it out.The chicken was dry and not very flavorful. The roll was sub par and the Mac and cheese was OK.I will try again with different pieces hot sauce and crinkle fries. Why? Because that's what everyone else was ordering and it was crowded in there.I make better chicken tho ,and will be frying my own if I get a serious craving.
I paid 14.50 for a half pound of gizzards, some cajun fries and a kids one piece of chicken and a roll. The breast didnt have much meat, but it was tasty. We enjoyed the fries and gizzards, but they still seemed over price. These must be the effects of gentrification...
I've known about this place forever since I went to HS across the street and am actually the original artist who created their logo/slogan for the Garfield messenger back in '84.
The original recipe I think is still intact, but consistency sometimes varies. I also run into them being out of sides frequently. But that said it's a decent fried chicken with an awesomely amazing chicken logo 😊
Every day I drive past and think that I should stop and get some chicken. Used to years ago.Today I got some lunch. It was terrible chicken. Dry, batter brittle ( asked for original), beans to see, Mac and cheese just okay and the bun was good. Service fast. Food was slightly warm. Next time Safeway or ( this shows how bad) Kentucky... So disappointed.
Best fried chicken I've ever had. If you get sides grab some salt and pepper. Food is cheap for the amount you get. They don't have alcohol and fountain drinks are a bit expensive so we got our drinks at the convenient store next door.
Some flavorless fried chicken. Got original and spicy, I'm thinking the spice in the spicy was just salt and pepper cuz the original didn't have any seasoning. The rolls were delicious and the coleslaw was good. I would probably try some of their other sides but I'm not wasting calories on that chicken.
Delicious and locally-owned fried chicken. Great prices too. Better and cheaper than any of those gentrified chicken places that are popping up everywhere.
Do not eat here! I am not sure why this place is famous, the food is just okay, you have to wait a long time to get your food, and the place is very dirty. They may not even have the food you want at all! The only good thing about this place is that it's cheap and fried food. When I ate there, they were out of most of the menu items. After I ordered, I had to wait 20 minutes for fast food! The food tasted like any fried food I could make at home. Even the sauce they use is just store bought from Nature Valley. Very disappointing!
This place is my favorite, always good chicken. Service may be a little straight forward but know what you want ahead of time and you'll do just fine. Try your food extra crispy because its tops!
Decent food. A bit pricy for the portion size, and no option to get just chicken.
Original chicken was dry and a little flavorless, but the spicy chicken was great.
Service was unbelievably slow, to the point where I justify removing a full star for it. I had a simple order of 4 pieces of chicken, and it took around 30 minutes to prepare, even though all the chicken was out under the heat lamps.
When I moved to Seattle from the south everyone was like "oh, you've gotta try Ezell's!" I don't get the obsession with this place from the Seattle population. The only thing I can think of is that people raving have never had REAL southern fried chicken. Because folks, this ain't it. There is ZERO flavor to the chicken. You have GOT to season your fried chicken. Someone should tell them that.
The mashed potatoes are weird and watery, so I'm assuming they're some sort of instant mixture. The rolls were actually not bad. But I'm not going to go to a place simply for their rolls. I guess I have to wait for my visits back to the south to get real fried chicken.
Love love love Ezelles! Great chicken awesome potatoes salad quick service and cool employees! I'll be eating there many more times
I expected so much more after hearing people rave about the chicken and even Oprah has it flown into Chicago. Breading had absolutely no flavor. Its just covered with flour and fried. I have had chicken from all over the U.S. and this was by far the worst I've ever had. I've even gotten food poisioning from chicken 2 different times and I enjoyed the chicken that made me sick more than this. Fries, mac and cheese, and biscuits were very good so props for that.
Ok the food is decent. But the service no so much. I don't necessarily blame them because it seems like it's an overcrowded (overrated) place. I'd advice ordering online before getting there if you don't want to wait forever (like me).
I heard Oprah visited this place and said the chicken was good. I moved from the south where food is good especially chicken. So, I gave this place a try and my experience was not good. I waited at least 20 minutes for my order but I was fine with that because I was anxious about the food. I got my order and the chicken was completely dried out. The rolls looked old and I paid extra for Cajun fries but still got regular fries. I was hoping to get some good food but the garbage got it instead because I couldn’t eat the dried out human size mystery chicken wings.
Forget KFC, this is the new level! Insanely good fried chicken AND super cool young people at the helm. A little pricey, not that it's not justified.
There amazing and super nice I have worked here and everything is homemade no frozen anything all made from scratch
Spicy chicken strips better than they've been in a long time. Super crispy and just right amount of spice. More like Ezell's of old. The rolls which had been shrinking in size and flavor were also back up to par. Big fluffy warm yummy rolls.
Visiting from out of town & I had to stop in and try out the Famous Ezell’s! Don’t even waste your time going to anywhere else! This location had amazing service! I got my food minutes after ordering. The only thing is there is no dining space in the inside. The spicy chicken & chicken tenders were fire (good)🔥! If they had a prepackaged box of those rolls I’d make them every single day! The macaroni was decent, the Cajun fries were good, I’d suggest getting them over the mashed potatoes, the gravy had a strange taste but that’s just my opinion. If your visiting and you want to try some food with essence & culture to it, then this is the place to stop.
I can't visit Seattle without eating Ezell's. This is the taste of home for me. I highly recommend the chicken liver. It's awesome!
Not the same Ezell's Chicken I grew up having. they don't listen to your orders. they got mine all wrong. they didn't get four of my wings that I ordered. plus they didn't even give me spicy chicken
if they gave me regular chicken. Sure did charger me for spicy thou. who does that?
Hmm, my order of spicy chicken and spicy tenders did not color-match. I really doubt they have different batters for the two chickens. The wife says it was because the chicken sat around for much longer and has to cook for longer. It is strange waiting for food after you order but you can see like 26# of already fried, ready-to-eat chicken sitting under the heat lamp. Why are we waiting? Part of the experience I guess. No seating, only take-out.
Great spot for a quick lunch. Old school vibe with tasty chicken. The mashed potatoes and gravy is ridiculously good!
The service was good! It's a local spot which is cool as I was visiting the area. I gave it a 3 as there wasn't anything unique or different about the place from other chicken establishments I've visited. I did, however, learn that the restaurant has been around and in that particular location for a long time which speaks volumes for their service and quality. Decent sized chicken parts and portions on sides. The flavor was okay as well. My only recommendation would be to expand the options for the sides, much of which are carbs right now and consider including some green vegetable options.
Very average chicken and the sides were below average. Also paid $5+ and waited 10 minutes for a side of okra that I found wasn’t even in the bag when I got home.
Get it together and actually check the order before you give it to the customer. This should be super easy, as you’re only handing out 1 order every couple minutes anyway.
Been coming to Seattle consistently for over 4 years, yet I never stepped inside ANY Ezell's store before my last trip. Had to come to the original store if...read this and 667 more
