How would you rate Ebenezer Baptist Church?
I felt very welcome! The Pastor preached a wonderful sermon, the choir sung from the depths of their soul, the ushers were smiling and helpful and the members were very nice... I will be returning again and again!
They are awesome go there please
Gread church with very loving and helpful people.
Definately hollowed ground. I would strongly suggest visiting here.

The people in church change my life. I was lost spiritual. I spoke in pulpit made me overstand how God works in me. The team of preaching they have is awesome. You won't ever forget your experience.
Tears. That's the review: tears. You would have to be DEAD not to be moved here. Or a Fox News regular...
A must see if you're interested in the history of the Civil Rights Movement.
With a Dr King sermon playing in the chapel, this is definitely something I've should experience.
Important historical site, restored to look the way it did when MLK was last there.
A historical location and well worth a few minutes to check out some of the United States' important Martin Luther King Jr. events.
Best church I've visited in Atlanta. I've never felt more welcomed, they assisted me with food in an emergency without even knowing me, and I've always felt God's Spirit alongside me stronger while there.
Reverend Warnock keeps the tradition of service and social awareness which began in the days of Dr. King Sr, known lovingly as Daddy King. This beautiful sanctuary sits across the street from the historic church site where Daddy, Dr. King, Rev. Joe Roberts, and others graced the pulpit. It has a beautiful adjunct building that is a community center that houses an office of Operation Hope, a non profit that helps people learn about finance.
I am privileged to be a member of the cleaning crew and I feel very humbled by that experience. As a lifelong civil/human rights activist and ACTIVE lifetime member of the NAACP, I know this is a divine appointment. Also I am a Silver Star member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc just as Soror Coretta Scott King was! Thanks
You can almost smell and feel the history in this place. The staff is really helpful in pointing out historical objects and providing you with fun facts. It is a beautiful church.
Archimedes is thought to have said, "Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world." The 1922 Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church is the rock upon which Dr. King stood as he moved the slumbering conscience of a nation. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference was founded as a result of a meeting here in 1957. Visitors may sit in the pews where Dr. King's congregation sat, and listen to recordings of his speeches played from the pulpit where he once stood. Afterwards, visitors may visit the crypt where Dr. and Mrs. King were laid to rest.
Entire monumentals are memorable and well maintained!!!
I totally agree with another post that you can feel the presence of history in this church. The young preacher who does the Dr. King "I HAVE A DREAM", is gifted and annointed; he sounds just like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr...to God be the Glory!!! Hallelujah !!!
I had no idea what to expect...i tell you now, i did not expect to hear the voice of MLK as i approached the main service room. my skin grew chills. my face began to pulsate. i wasnt ready to talk or react but i felt a knot in my throat. Dr King felt alive in this space and it took me a little while to approach the pulpit but I did... I passed by the organs and send paid my respects.. and then I sat to finish the sermon that was playing thru the speakers. The audio was amazing. It felt real. I love how this space is preserved..his gravesite is just a short walk away. I got to see both MLK and Coretta!.. thank you so much for this experience.
Excellent historical site that is a dedication to Martin Luther King, Jr's family. The church is preserved in the way MLK would have seen it as a preacher there, and upon entering visitors listen to his powerful voice echoing around the congregation area. It's a powerful site.
This is another landmark in our country's history that has been badly preserved. This place is falling apart. They need to do some renovations to preserve history. The wall was literally falling down inside. You can look at the entire place in literally 15min. There is a video they show in the basement but nothibg else is interactive or informative.
very nice experience!!! I'm happy I got a chance be inside the church!!
Atlanta Movie Tours has an Atlanta Heritage Tour. Ebenezer Baptist Church was a stop on the tour. My group was warmly welcomed by the female staff member. She provided an overview of the building and told us that the sermon playing in the sanctuary was Dr. King's "Drum Major Instinct". This was the final sermon of Dr. King before his assignation. We also found out that they keep the sanctuary clock stopped at 10:30 a.m. This represents Dr. the time of Dr. King's funeral on April 9, 1968. The church is a very unique experience. It transports you back to the late 60's.
Lovely church. I enjoy the sermons and choir. I just wish the church kept the tourists to visit at the other historical site and not the newer site. People come in videotaping and just get up to leave when they have had enough of the black folk. It's so disrespectful as I should be able to worship without this distraction. I immediately become angry when that happens and I shouldn't feel that way in the house of the Lord. I'll be looking for a new church until they do something about this.
An integral piece of Atlantan and American history. The church Martin Luther King was raised in and later preached in. A gentleman gives the powerful I Have A Dream speech and does an amazing impersonation.
It was a genually profound experience to be so close to the civil rights movement. We really felt humbled.
RIp to ML king for leaving us a church with God building bible words!! Powerful man who seen the future before it came!! In God we trust let satin bust in he'll amen!!!
Historic! The National Park rangers are knowledgeable about the history of the church, including the time Martin Luther King, Jr. was a part of the leadership. Several pictures on the walls.

I cannot believe that the words written in the news story of the Ebenezer Baptist Church quoting the Rev. Raphael G Warnock, . How is it that a minister can sprew out terrible language, that I am sure the Good Lord above would not approve of, and still lead a church. Aren't we told to turn the other check? Do good to those who persecute us? How can you call yourselves a Christian Church doing God's Will, and give a speech with hatered... on Martin Lutheran King Day, especially this day.
At first I was very upset at your language, especially because you are in a place of authority, and the youth are looking to you, seeing how you live and speak. All I have left is I will pray for you. betty wall & family
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Think on that....
Rest in paradise this was one of greatest man ever lived I️ appreciate everything you did
This is the best church, and they have kids class and the kids really remember and learn things. U should go
Like holding a splinter of the true cross...the new sanctuary across the street is beautiful, but the original breathes history.
I have never been more moved in my life.
Excellent service! If you ever in Atlanta this is a must see. The memorial of Dr. and Mrs. King are so touching.
Great place to walk the steps and feel the presence of MLK. They also have his sermon playing over the pulpit which is breathtaking. You definitely feel his presence the entire time your here. Just hits you so hard, the realization of how this man's life was cut short.
Great Church this is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.s church we're he preached at
I have passed Dr.King's church several times ,but I actually went in for the first time July 2018...It was a amazing experience...I sat, listened to the story, and I pictured the entire church being filled ,and songs of glory being sang! I loved every min of it! R.I.H Dr.King, Ms.Correrta Scott King, and many other former members of the church.
The presence of God, the spirit, the sacrifice, the love... all felt today because of men like Dr. King. It was a blessed and wonderful experience. There pain is my gain, my pain is our futures gain. The staff (Rangers), were such a blessing. It’s great to see strong women there as well. Dr. King led a mighty movement that continues today, and will hopefully be a memory that needs no movement one day. #Equality4All
Really uplifting to visit this relatively simple church to realize good can emerge from any neighborhood and there’s greatness everywhere!
I am grateful for the divine assignment to make Ebenezer my home church. I am growing spiritually after recovering from a lot of brokenness in my life. The word God is being taught here by Pastor Warnock. You will be well informed on scripture and social justice. The doors are open to all imperfect folks and there is a ministry for every facet of our lives.
On Saturday, Nov 3rd, 2018, EBC Horizon will host a fantastic pianist in concert! I had the opportunity to hear a snippet and she is amazing....
Very moving to see this historic church. God bless Dr. King! Free at last! Free at last!
An Excellent church. Pastor Warnock is a great man.
Amazing! In knowing and being inside where a great MAN (Martin Luther King Jr) spoke the word of God. As you walk into this historic church it feels as if the service has started and you are about to receive a great word. Its nice to be able to take pictures of the location and sit down as if his service was still going. A must go when in Georgia.
Great place to hear a relevant, provocative and transforming word - Pastor Warnock is on point. Time is not wasted, service is not belabored. Check it out for yourself; I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Ebenezer is a great place to worship and all are welcome there. Pastor Warnock is a wonderful pastor.
When I first came to Atlanta this was my first stop. Once I put the band together it was even more important for us The South Bay Project to come together to experience this historic unique and iconic place that has changed the world
Beautiful church. Love to hear the pastor speak and the choirs/praise team, I love also. I'll be honest, love knowing their are celebs that Dr. Warnick introduces so we can be aware they r there. Historical Church!!
It's a great church with a great pastor and members people trying to follow Christ and do the right thing I love being there
The order of service was excellent, and the breakfast before service was tasty with enough time to fellowship with others. The historic church was awe inspiring to say the least. They had a guest preacher when I visited. Grateful to see both the current and original church side by side. Much history to see and hear in this place. Highly recommend you to see both venues and read all there plaques.
I recently attended my uncle's funeral service at Ebenezer Baptist Church where he was a member. The arrangements and accommodations for the family were greatly appreciated. The service, officiated by senior pastor Dr. Warnock and pastoral staff was very professional and honored the memory of my uncle with words of comfort and words of inspiration in that place.
Being able to attend on Mother's Day was really a special treat. Being in another state and still feeling like you were home is priceless.
Pastor always always always speaks to my heart of hearts. God Bless this teacher and his church
Great tourist action. Would be even greater if they could have a momument of Dr. King standing behind the pulpit preaching the sermons. Other than that i loved it.
I attend church here with my mother. Pastor Warnock does a great job delivering the message and the choir is amazing. My only issue is that there is not a place for younger kids to go so that the adults can enjoy service.
Historical and educational experience... well preserved dwelling. The entire family enjoyed it!
This place was a fantastic experience that has been renovated beautifully. Immaculate stained glass pieces. Powerful sermons and lots of history for someone who may not even be religious.
Ebenezer Church has been immaculately preserved. The audio of Dr. Kings speech was very clear and concise. There was a feeling of peace in that place.
I have been worshipping at Ebenezer Baptist Church, since 2014 and I always receive a blessing from the message given by the Pastor or Guest Preachers (Messengers). It is also important that it's America's freedom church with such history.
This place mesmerized me.
To stand in the actual sanctuary that a leader such as MLK Jr preached in was amazing.
I purchased An autographed book by Velma Maia Thomas which have " receipts" for some stories in it. "LEST WE FORGET".
BUT they MUST expand the gift store. TOO small. Entirely TOO small.
It has the presence of God and the history of great men of God building the communities around it. Dr.MLK Jr. was a pastor there and brought to the people the wisdom and knowledge of Christ. 👍✌😊🙌 Loved being there to worship.
More than historical, the worship service is filled with sincere fellowship and gospel music. Authentic and Real, it brings me to see the True Christ teaching of who our neighbors are. Amen.
My 7 year old enjoyed church on today in Atlanta on today. He enjoyed the great overflow. My baby is so excited I am about to be a pastor and preach God word to many people.
I know I was called to preach💗💗💗, and if a person want to get right within the Lord just pray and accept God as your personal savior.
I am so glad I will be opening my church up in 2022. Oh the good Lord is working. And I am not a fake Christian. Because sometimes people are sitting among false preachers. I know I was called to preach at age 12 and ignored God but now I really know I am going to answer my calling.
I don't need a million people at my church. But long as I have the right believers and receivers who want me to save them...
It is a wonderful experience I really enjoy the love, and vibe I receive there. To be in the presence of the Lord as well as other people, it's magnificent. My my and the Chior is awesome. Never have I heard in any other church I've attended such awesome chior as this one. God has truly blessed this. Church and has showed favor over a sanctuary as this one. The people are supportive and amazing as well.
Amazing place to see. To sit in the pews and imagine myself back in time was a pleasure and honor.
I really enjoyed my worship experience at Ebenezer today. Friendly faces and inspirational message.
I have visited the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church on several occasions over the years. I highly recommend everyone take the opportunity to visit this site should you be in the Atlanta area. There is no cost of entry or to park; I have always been able to find a parking spot close by.
On one occasion we were able to sit in on a live presentation by one of the Park Rangers who attended Ebenezer Baptist at the same time as Dr King. This was, by far, our most memorable visit. On our most recent visit, however, the ranger informed us that such presentations no longer take place.
It is incredibly inspirational to be in the very church where Dr Martin Luther King, Jr grew up and preached. Dr King’s message of unity and peace is clearly demonstrated in the church and park on the same grounds.
The only criticism I have is I have encountered several other visitors who have been much less than friendly. It seems Dr King’s message of love and acceptance are not necessarily ascribed to by everyone who visits.
All said, this site is a MUST VISIT!
This is my home church ,the service is informative and prophetically on point for the times we are living in!
I've been wanting to come to Ebenezer Baptist Church for a long time, and was not disappointed when I finally got the opportunity to go. The church is beautifully preserved, the staff friendly, and the museum informative. Overall it was a wonderful experience, and I learned a lot about the history of civil rights. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Historic yet very relevant church. Powerful preaching and congregation.
Really enjoyed service here last Sunday. Famous churches like this run the risk of feeling more like a tourist attraction than a place of worship but the focus was squarely on the word. Outside homage is paid to its famous former pastor, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., but inside you know you are in a church. Would love to return on my next visit to Atlanta.
Visiting this church will change your life! To see the actual pulpit where Dr. King preached from, to kneel in the pews that his congregation knelt in was the highlight of my trip to Atlanta. They have historic sermons playing inside the church which made it even more memorable.
The staff were very helpful. Clean bathrooms!
I took the subway train and walked to the area. I made an afternoon of visiting area by going to the MLK National Historic Park and visitors center, visited the church, and then went to the cemetery by the train station. Signs everywhere ask tourists to not give money to the panhandlers, and there were quite a few. I tried to stop in a bodega for a soda, big mistake, very scary.
Visiting Ebenezer is absolutely worth the time and will make a trip to Atlanta more memorable!
Very cool piece of history. The basement as a few areas of information and exhibits. It is also where the bathroom is located. The main congregation area was great to just sit and absorb. Highly recommend it. It is free, does not take very long but is very important and moving.
It was closed as I hoped. I did not want to take my mom inside. But the place itself was splendid.
Any “church” that says God is “cool with it” when it comes to healthcare might need to check itself.
This is not a church I would ever recommend. When a so called pastor stands up for abortion and not against it, he does not preach the word of God.
The most amazing part of this church is to be able to talk with the Park Rangers who not only take great care of this location, but are extremely...read this and 33 more
