How would you rate Duke Ellington Residence?
The Adam's Inn is a great place to stay in Adams Morgan. They were accommodating and friendly. We booked the carriage house, it was clean, quiet (super quiet) and suited our needs for the weekend. The wifi worked perfectly. Being in a separate building was perfect for us as we were in and out frequently. Traveling with a toddler can be tough, the owner offered us a stroller and the cleaning staff was on point. The Adam's Inn is one of the only B&B's in the area that would accept toddlers. This place is not perfect; some of the renovations are not completed, and some of the staff is apathetic. All in all though I would totally return. Access to Rock Creek Park is great. As a cyclist this place is situated perfectly to check out the cycling trails in the area, and would make a great start to a C&O canal trip. As a parent close proximity to the zoo was sweet. You can't beat the places to eat in the area. Reserve your parking early if you are driving in, parking in the area sucks, having a garage to park in was priceless. The staff let me store my bicycle before check in, and after check out. Ohh yea as many peppermint patties as you can eat, nutella every morning at breakfast, that's something you can't complain about. I can't wait to come back to DC and when I do I will be staying at the Adam's Inn again.
I definitely recommend the Adam’s Inn to anyone looking for a place to stay in Northwest Washington, D.C.! I love the Inn so much that I actually had my wedding there last Columbus Day Weekend (October 12, 2013). It was the PERFECT location for our backyard, D.C. wedding and a great gathering spot for our family and friends.
After we got engaged, my fiancé and I set out to find a small venue to host our 60-70 person wedding. We live in the Adams Morgan neighborhood and had passed by the Inn frequently, so we decided to reach out to them about hosting our fall wedding. For us, it was a wonderful location with a great backyard and accommodations for our out of town family and friends.
The staff at the Inn were fantastic! We met with them throughout the year to plan our wedding details, and they communicated with our vendors to make sure everything was in place for our big day. Unfortunately, it rained like crazy the weekend of our wedding, and a lot of last minute changes needed to be made. The Inn was incredible flexible and accommodating! The owner, Adam, made sure that everything was in place for us and worked to make it as nice as possible despite the uncooperative weather. In the end, we had a beautiful wedding and an incredibly fun event for our family and friends.
In addition to hosting our wedding in the backyard, we also stayed at the Inn for the weekend. We rented out one of the houses as well at the carriage house and stayed with our family and friends. This was such a fun way to get to see all of our out of town guests! It was also nice to have everyone in one location. The Inn itself is adorable and so comfortable! It’s so clean and homey. As I said above, all of the staff are very friendly and helpful which took away some of our wedding weekend stress!
If you are coming to D.C., you should definitely check out the Adam’s Inn. It’s close to public transportation as well as a ton of fun restaurants and bars. It is located on Lanier Place which is a quiet neighborhood. I cannot say enough good things about this location!
This place feels like a youth hostel. Bare bones. Noisy at night.
Just spent the weekend there, what an experience.
The rooms are dated and the atmosphere is akin to a rooming house.
Please tell folk there is NO parking and the nearest garage is a quarter of a mile away.
I would never return or refer.
We found the accommodations exactly what we wanted and were promised. They were able to handle a last minute additional night and were easy to deal with. It was a little pricey to park there, but well worth it!
Loved this hotel!!! Great staff, very helpful and very very friendly in a B&B fashion. The building is over 100 years old and is very cool. Loved the furniture and the whole vibe. Great quiet residential street yet only a couple of walking minutes away from restaurants of Adam's Morgan. Highly recommend it!
I only give out 1 or 5 star ratings- Maybe 2 in special cases- Because decisions should be easy. We had a bathroom down the hall, which was ours but also shared, kind of, as the only one outside of a room on the first floor. The inn was quiet, and the staff was friendly. We slept well, Nutella and very decent jam is served at breakfast. VAccessible via the metrobus circulator.
Great location, great service, and very clean and nice rooms. I will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in DC!
In a very good location and the staff was very friendly. However the room could definitely been a little cleaner.
Had issues with reservations, but the hotel is trying to help resolve the problem.
Nice host, cosy place
I like it just fine. The location is excellent, it's a nice neighborhood with lovely restaurants. Close to the metro.
This is a lovely little place in Adam's Morgan. It has a comfortable atmosphere, excellent breakfast, and is situated relatively close to both Metro and bus stops. Overall, a fantastic place to stay in DC.
We have never stayed at an inn so we don't know if this is normal but we didn't expect it to have a communal bathroom down the hall. The rest wasn't bad. Very simple bed, dresser, sink with mirror. There was wifi which was good. The breakfast was a good spread and really cute. Overall it wasn't overwhelmingly great but not terrible. It was good for the price and for one night but any longer works have been a bother with the bathroom.
If half stars were an option I would have given them a 4.5.
The Inn is located in a quiet little neighborhood with a lot of character. Just around the corner is 18th street where there are a lot of places to eat and do some basic shopping such as a drug store. The national zoo is also just a few blocks away. The Inn is also in close proximity to both the metro and the circulator systems. There are also several parking options near by.
Our room was located by the street which proved to be no problem even with a small fire station across the street. It was furnished well enough though the larger of the three beds was rather hard and somewhat uncomfortable while the two twin beds were much nicer. Our room used a shared bath which was of slight concern but proved to be no problem at all. It was clean and well stocked at all times. The decor was quaint and suited the general feel of the Inn.
Breakfast was one of the best parts of the day. While at certain times the dining areas felt a little crowded the food was more than adequate. There was a large selection of breads, bagels and pastries as well as some cheese, boiled eggs, yogurt, a few cereals and fruit. Juice, milk and almond milk were also provided as well as coffee, tea bags and hot cocoa mixes.
The staff was polite and very helpful. When we arrived out air conditioner was not working but they were extremely quick in taking care of the problem. They made some good dining recommendations as well as helping with questions about transportation.
The kids enjoyed the small baskets of chocolates and granola bars by the front door and we all appreciated the several water coolers located around Inn.
All in all I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unique experience while staying somewhere that is friendly and quiet, yet still connected to everywhere you would want to go.
Clean, comfortable, breakfast was delicious with many choices. Inn was beautiful and location allowed easy access to the zoo and public transportation. The parking garage was safe and secure. Staff was very accommodating and there were many amenities I didn't expect.
The best service, the best room, the best breakfast, the best location, the best place to spend some days on Washington. I didn't feel like I was in hotel, I was at home! Thanks Adam's Inn.
Adam's Inn is a great place to stay if you're looking for a quiet and charming place to get some rest. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and the grounds are well kept. The breakfast was nothing fancy, but contained all the essentials to start your day. My only complaint is that the shared bathroom is TINY. We enjoyed our stay!
Great homey feel. Nice properties in a great neighborhood. They had awesome Halloween decorations!
This is the second time I have stayed here and it has been great both times. It's location is very convenient and the continental breakfast was really good. The staff members were pleasant, kind and very helpful!
Cute place but parking is horrendous. Decent restaurants in walking distance.
Clean and cozy hotel close to Adam Morgan
Cheap and has excellent breakfast
The place has a vintage feel to it. With pictures of past US president across the staircase you feel like one passing through history.
Really great stay at the Adams in! My only complaint is that the bathroom ran out of toilet paper
This place was awesome! Clean rooms, friendly staff. Beautiful garden!
Beware - there is no parking available unless you ask ahead of time! Good location otherwise.
Quaint bed and breakfast with clean room and close to bustling Adams Morgans 18th Street.
Room quality varies greatly. Definitely has some mold issues. Some rooms have both a bathroom and a TV, some have neither. Breakfast is pretty decent. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here, but others in my group did not.
Great family atmosphere, wonderful place to stay good prices. Close to everything. Close to public transportation and friendly service
Very comfy, homey place. The service was incredible and the employees were very nice! I'm planning to return on my next trip to DC.
Cozy hotel, rooms are small but nice, good clean rooms. Breakfast was good. Free wifi, friendly staff.
Rather hot in the rooms when it's hot outside. But a nice house with beautiful garden and nice breakfast.
The Adam's Inn was a lovely visit. Our room was comfortable with a bed, a chair, and a sink. We had a shared bathroom on our floor with a nice shower and toilet. Breakfast offered a variety of choices including baked goods and yogurt. We arrived in the evening around 10pm and had no problem getting to our room. A good experience all around.
I made a reservation on Sunday for a Friday stay. My family was no longer able to make the trip and we were charged 50% of the reservation price. We canceled the very next day. No consideration was given and when I told them I would write a review based on my experience, I was asked not to write a negative review. Really? That's the cost of doing business guys. Be nicer to prospective customers.
Great bed and breakfast located in three historic homes! Eating breakfast with people visiting Washington from around the world was a great experience.
Loved the building, breakfast, and staff. Hated the beds, few bathrooms, and location relative to the nearest Metro stop. Great place for the price, and good for families.
Really nice and cozy place to stay. I've read the reviews mentioning the place being old but i think it is actually something that adds to its charm, and sometimes as in the case with this place "old is gold".
Very nice place, near the commercial center. Most rooms have shared bathroom, no TV on them. It has complementary hot beverages, ice and fridge. Lots of books, pc with printer an table games. One block from DC green line circulator. Breakfast it's complete, includes a variaty of breads, cheese, ham, turkey, yogurts and cereal. I recommend this place, we stay 4 days.
This is the second time we have come to Adam's Inn and there is a reason for that. The rooms are homey and comfortable. The price can't be beat by anything similar and it is in a great location, Adam's Morgan is a beautiful neighborhood.
Some rooms don't have bathrooms in them but have a common bathroom, which may be a deal breaker for some but when we visited 4 months ago the common bathroom was always clean and functional. The room we stayed in had a sink and mirror so we didn't need to take up the bathroom brushing teeth and washing face and hands. The room we stayed in this time had it's own bathroom. We were in the basement room which was warm and comfortable.
I recommend this to anyone who wants their inn to feel like home while in a beautiful part of DC.
Not too bad but definitely needs improvement. One bathroom for a floor, for 5 - 7 rooms if guests. Walls are thin , can here everything, people upstairs where walking or doing something all night, couldn't sleep. A lot of stuff are old and needs attention.
Clean and trendy boutique hotel in an old house. I like it. But I will admit that you have to be adventurous and love old buildings.
Got the basement apartment for cheap. You can hear people above you but it didn't bother us that much. Breakfast was good and the place is located in walking distance of the subway and restaurants.
We loved our stay at Adam's Inn! The young woman who checked us into the room was extremely helpful. The room was beautiful and we had our own bathroom which was worth the extra money.
The location is good and it’s a cute place but that’s the only redeeming quality. The bathrooms were dirty, the beds uncomfortable, and breakfast was disappointing at best. Out of every b&b I've stayed at this was the worst breakfast I’ve had. Could have had a betters night sleep, more comfortable bed, and same breakfast at a hotel for the same price.
One of the nicest place I have ever visited. Very clean and super cosy. Ideal place to celebrate Christmas or NY holidays! Thank you guys!
Great value for money option in Washington DC. Rooms are simple but well maintained. It’s a bit noisy because of the wooden floors and thin windows. But it’s on a quiet street so as long as the other guests are quiet you should be okay. Breakfast is phenomenal for this price level. A large selection and many rooms you can enjoy breakfast in.
This inn offers different options. Depending on the option you chose, you may get a very spacious and cozy home-like room.
The staff are friendly.
Overall, this place is good. The breakfast can definitely be improved.
Adam's Inn is an adorable hostel-style hotel. The room and bed were both cute, charming, and comfortable. There was a sink in my private room to help provide some amenity since the bathroom was a shared bath. I was able to arrive very late, and leave very early, so even though I would have liked to actually check in with the people who ran the place, I didn't have to in order to stay there, which was a big plus. I was even able to eat breakfast before having to run out the door. Also, though I didn't talk to the office staff, I did see a few maintenance staff who were very friendly. Additionally, one of my belongings fell out of my pocket before I left, and they emailed me to ask if I'd like it mailed back. I'm very happy with my choice to stay there.
Amazingly open place with a very homey feel and a great sense of History to it with all the modern conveniences except that I had some trouble with the outlet nearest my bed. The bathroom was also really tiny, but that was the design of the original house and I don't blame them for not changing that.
The place is real horrible. We reached with parents and kids at night 11 and found the place stinking and not cleaned. We had to search for another hotel at midnight. On top of that they were not ready to reimburse the amount. So we ended up paying double the money and the pain we had to undergo with parents and kids roaming in streets for a hotel room at midnight was horrible. I am not sure how others rated good for this property. Having traveled across US and stayed in many hotels I can call this as the worst experience I ever had. Guys don't fall for this trap.
Beautiful old inn and we were leaving very early the next morning so they made us breakfast to take. Only thing they should change is there's no parking as it is and they charge $30 to park in their parking lot. It should be free especially since there's no parking on that road because it is houses where people live. We didn't have a TV in our room either which I think all rooms should have especially since I have kids
This was a good place for the price. The staff was fantastic and very helpful they helped me figure out parking while in the city and gave some good ideas of what food, attractions, and cabs were near by. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Those who book should understand it is an older home converted into an inn its not the Marriott but it is fantastic for its price, its clean, comfortable, and has great staff. There was even a small kitchenette downstairs and the morning staff had breakfast out on time if not early every day!
Really good place .I and my friends stayed in the room for 4. Our room was very clean and tidy. All the time that I pinned down there I did not leave the feeling that I was at home. A very nice and cozy place! With a good breakfast and low prices.
The location is Okay, the street is beautiful but it is 15 min walking to Metro. You can find some good restaurants nearby. The room was clean and had a good air conditioning system. Our room was on the third floor which was not easy to move our luggages upstairs through the narrow stairs. The breakfast was good and the service was good too but the wifi signal wasn't strong enough.
Cute hotel with rustic accommodations and homey feel. The breakfast was light but felt polished. A little.but far from the metro but close to the DC circulator bus.
Very nice Inn with an international clientele located in a n older neighborhood with tree lined streets. Across the street from a historic fire house but little noise from there.
Breakfast in the morning included. They had bagels, breads, muffins, cereals including granola and oatmeal, sliced Turkey with cheeses, juices, yougarts, and coffee. Nice to meet other travelers around the breakfast table.
I got upgraded to a family suite, room 100A a basement level 3 bed suite with kitchen.
Recommend this place as a nice alternative to the less personable big hotels.
As advertised, a low pretense, 2 star where you can get a bed and a decent shower in a older converted house, for much less than a typical DC hotel. More communal, too - you are likely to meet other people in the common spaces (living rooms). Uber in to downtown is about 20 minutes. Good selection of hip restaurants within 4 minute walk. I recommend Pho 14, right around the corner.
A shabby place, but comfortable, clean, cheap, and safe. The single room with shared bathroom is a good deal for someone traveling alone. It's a large, well-furnished room near the guest kitchen; however, the bed is lumpy and it is directly across the street from the neighborhood fire station!
The kitchen is very useful, allowing guests to microwave food or make tea (which is provided by the management) at whatever time they please.
Stayed overnight in the suite. It was nice, but there was only one bedroom. The other two beds didn't have their own room, so it wasn't exactly what we thought we were getting. We enjoyed our stay and the breakfast. It was a good stay overall, just not exactly what we thought we were getting.
Very good accommodation at decent price in one of the best rated neighborhoods in the country. Breakfast is complimentary and provides decent spreads. The room which we stayed was on the smaller side with personal bathroom. Overall highly recommended for budget travelers and I am extremely satisfied
This hotel is located in Adams Morgan, which is a great neighborhood located within walking distance of the National Mall (~50 min). The hotel has basic rooms at reasonable prices with a well-stocked breakfast. The walls are thin, so be sure to bring earplugs if sound bothers you. Other than that, we had a great stay.
The place was perfect for our 1 night stay!
You get that feeling with the ambience as something vintage. The continental breakfast was definitely a huge pro!
Concessions were very quick but the seats were very cramped together. It was also pretty hot in there so dress cool~read this and 118 more
