How would you rate Off the Bone Barbeque?
Found this spot by looking up some reviews and it had a bunch of stars...i was traveling through Dallas from California and was in the mood for some great Texas BBQ...I was not let down "Off The Bone" sets the Bar VERY high! You got to meet LaBaron who greeted me when I walked in..you'll know who he is by his Big smile "looks like he's trying to Win a Crest White strip modeling contract" LOL in between making good conversation at my table he would cater to all the older women, helping them with their takeout and making them laugh. What's the saying? You go for the food but you come back for the great time you had while you where there. something like that...you will leave like I did stuffed, smiling, sticky fingers and with BBQ sauce on your shirt!!!! *****
I am born and raised in Texas I've lived here for over 30 years and I've had BBQ from all over the state. This is one of the best places without a doubt to get awesome Bbq. Labaron was absolutely awesome. It was some of the best service I've ever had and i will definitely be back very soon!!!
I've had BBQ all over the state of Texas, from Houston and San Antonio to Austin and Dallas and Off the Bone Barbeque has the best smoked beef brisket and slow smoked ribs I've ever put in my mouth. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The cole slaw was something really special too with bleu cheese and bacon and I liked the potato salad too. The friendly folks at Off the Bone make it my first choice for BBQ whenever I want something good to eat.
Delectable, scrumptious, chopped brisket on a warm buttery toasted bun of perhaps multi grain smaller than average divided in two for a handheld trip to ecstasy. Full rack was brimming with meat and after 4 ribs I was ready to take the rest home. 45 seconds in the microwave is all it takes. Sauce is not necessary. Yelp has great photos.
This place is located a little far from everything. Looks like a very famous place but I did not find a good reason why. I saw a lot of famous people's pictures on the wall and thought they were cool. The rib was ok but I did not like their side menu salad.
The first time was excellent made me come back, the second time my order was not right and the quality of the food was low I waited hour and ten minutes before I got my food. It will be a long time before I return
This place is another reason why I love staying in downtown Dallas. The service is always good, and the food is delicious. I've had most of the meats on the menu, and almost all of the sides so far and haven't been disappointed yet. It's a good place to just hang out and sip a beer and eat. I recommend it all the time.
Off the Bone is Off the Hook with BBQ and the deep fried corn is delicious. The cole slaw is the best in Dallas. This is my new favorite Friday meal.
Been here twice already. The first time the food wasn't bad, and the manager was extremely friendly. Meats were decently tasty, but I wasn't too big on the potato salad. Second time I went I ordered food to go, and they provided quick service which I liked. I ordered a smoked chicken sandwich with cole slaw, and "spicy" fries. The chicken sandwich was basically a small chicken slider like an appetizer because it was so small, and definitely not worth the price. The cole slaw was pretty bad...I didn't enjoy it at all, and the so called "spicy" fries, didn't have a hint of spiciness at all! This is an okay barbecue joint, nothing too special.
Food was good, however if you used a debit or credit card at this location near the end of June 2015, check your bank statements. I was vacationing in Dallas, and used my debit card at only one location (this one), while I was in Dallas. They were "having problems with the receipt printer" and had to write down the order so that it could be completed, but were able to provided a printed receipt for the transaction. Four days later when I was back in my home state, a charge presented itself in Austin (where I've never been). A friend of mine on the same trip, also had her card information compromised.
This place is delicious. Went there Friday 8/14/2015, with my friend who was visiting and he and I both loved it. We got the two person sampler (I think that's what is called) and everything was the yummy. My only complaint was the variety of sides. I would have liked to see some mac and cheese or green beans or something else other than what was available. I ended up with baked beans and fries but really didn't want fries. However other than that I will be back.
People that give Off The Bone BBQ below a 4 or a 5 simply do not know BBQ. The ribs and sausage here are some of the best I've ever had - and the sides have an attention to detail that is lacking in most BBQ joints. Manager has always got an ear to ear smile, and a handshake that will crush your hand. Sincere people, good service, and excellent BBQ.
The strength of this place is the meat. The sauce is serviceable in my opinion. If you like the more vinegar based sauce you will like this joint better than I did. The meat is moist and well done, but I think you have to bring both the meat and the sauce together to be a really great bbq joint. The sides and desserts are somewhat mundane. This is particularly interesting knowing that a city full of southern cookers is nearby. I have no complaints but I don't think it really stands out.
I called there made order guy on phone said it be ready in 10 minutes we got there wasn't ready!!!!!
the food was ok at best nothing special wasn't overly thrilled with service or food
The ribs were dry and the chicken was dried out also I normally dont use BBQ sauce but had to
First, you won't know where your supposed to order at. Second, I never saw a menu until it was my turn to order. The couple in front of me took 15 mins to order. I just ordered a sandwich but it took 20 mins to get it. Front counter is not friendly. Don't go there if your on a lunch break. To long of a wait. They get half a star. I asked for chopped beef sandwich it cost $7. I thought it came with fries or was going to be a big sandwich for $7. No, two little sliders and a few pickles. Barbecue sauce was good but not worth $7.
A coworker and I were in the area and found this place based on reviews. Image is everything and they've done a fantastic job making the restaurant look inviting. It's very clean and modern looking. I had the ribs that do literally melt off the bone. Would reccomend for any quick lunch stop.
Always on point.. I've yet to have a bad experience during my visits, (knock on wood).
I'm truly sold on the Pulled Pork. Smoked to perfection, none of that dried out, burnt up, doctored up Pulled Pork, other BBQ joints sell 'round here, calling it BBQ.
I've had the Ribs and Chopped Beef. The ribs are smoked well, not burnt up, dried out tough meat on bones. The Chopped Beef is smoked perfect, with no burnt up, dried out meat. Friendly service, and the prices are pretty reasonable. Dine-in or to-go.
¿..Did I mention the PULLED PORK?
Best BBQ joint In South Dallas.... Not bad at all.. Good food and good location.. Awesome Ribs and the potato salad is the Boom!!!!!!!!!! The best bbq sause!!!!! JT
Very fast service! Great food! Friendly staff. Just wished there were more vegetarian options. Other than that, it was great!
Good brisket, awesome ribs, good potato salad. Place was very clean and staff very friendly. What I tasted of the fried corn on the cob was amazeballs. I only had one bite though because my partner ate the rest of it. She told me to get my own...
That was my own.
Will be back, but next time I'll get extra.
Off The Bone, is Off The Chain!!! #yougot2tryit!!! #GOOOOOOOOD!!!
Hands down the best BBQ in Dallas...the meats are smoked perfectly and EVERY side they offer is uniquely amazing!! From the sweet n sour pickles to the BBQ sauce "Off the Bone has all their bases covered" 1st class all the way!!
Man I tell ya I haven't had bbq in a while it's been a wonderful experience to have such good food for a 1 day visit here in Dallas, Tx
Amazing food!!! There BBQ definitely ranks in the best in Texas. I know that's a bold statement, but it's absolutely the best I've ever had. There sides stand out in a huge way too, each with fresh ingredients that are unique to Off The Bone's menu. The mac and cheese has fresh tomatoes and pepper. The coleslaw has blue cheese and garnishes of bacon. The potato salad is crispy and has an array of peppers, onions, and celery. The corn literally falls off the cob. I'm not sure how they do it, but their food is absolutely amazing! I'll definitely be back!
I have been to Off the Bone several times and each time the food and service has been tremendous. My favorites are the ribs and chicken. The beans, cole slaw and potato salad are great as well. Dwight, the owner, is very nice and if something isn't right, please talk to him. He will make it right.
The only regret is that it is about 35 minutes from my house!
Searched for "best bbq in dallas" and this restaurant popped up. But I did not really see the reason why it can be the best, besides a lot of pics with famous people. i had the sausage and my bf had the brisket. My sausage was good but the brisket was dry. Customer service was so so, but definitely not fantastic as the comments here. It was not too expensive but i was quite surprised how small the portions were. Most other bbq in town have bigger portion than that. Come back? Probably not...
Best baked potatoe ever! Clean place, friendly staff!
Delicious food. Had beef brisket sandwich and spicy fries. Didn't wait long for the food either. Would definitely recommend
The food was not good like the reviews and people were saying, and the service was HORRIBLE. and because of that I will not recommend this place to anyone not even my worst enemy. They were rude and unprofessional how they treat paying customers. And they give small portions of food. They will never get my services again..... No it was the one on Lamar. I asked one of your employees to change the sweet tea at least 3 times. When I did not get any service I walked to the counter and ask could they refill the bucket of tea. the employee ask one of the managers and he STATED that they do not need anymore tea. And I told him that who are you to say what I need I'm a paying customer. After that me and my wife walked out.... So you need to check your employees and tell them to treat PAYING CUSTOMERS with respect.
I'm from Houston, TX and hate Any and everything about Dfw but this is the best bbq joint in TX in my opinion
I absolutely love this place!!! its off the chain!! Good food, Great service!
They even have grilled chicken and 1 of a kind Peach cobbler!
This place is great. One downside is that they run out of food/sides, but that's just how good they are...HOME MADE!!! Every time in in town, I be sure to come visit
I'm a tough customer to please and I have tried some good food and BBQ in Austin and San Antonio before. However, this place certain has reasons that worth a visit. The Ribs and Pickles are fantastic, the sweetness was just right. The brisket though needed the BBQ sauce. Love the beans and the atmosphere.
Great food, friendly atmosphere, excellent customer service!😊
The food was awesome except the front counter register guy. He needs work in the social skills department. He's only friendly with certain people.
I rate BBQ based on flavor and tenderness of the meat Without bbq sauce, and I gotta say, they do pretty well! I still added some sauce, but the meat-i got beef brisket- had a good smoky flavor, Very tender, and only a little fatty which is always a plus! And the mac &cheese was delicious!
The food was really good but the customer service was awful!
Yes we went to the one in South Lamar, we were there on Friday night. The guy cussed at a guy behind us for calling him by his name and then acted like we were bothering him when we ordered out food. Will definitely never return to this place which sucks because the food was delicious.
OMG finally I tried this place my daughter said mama it's a keeper it was so good
Best fried okra around! Staff is super friendly and down to earth! Love the food!
The meat is superb! It is so tender
The ribs are excellent and the baked beans are quite good. However, the sliced brisket was way too fatty (mostly fat, to be honest) and the potato salad was a miss. I'll make sure to go back and try other meats before making a full opinion.
The moment we stepped out of the car, we knew we had made the right choice. The smell of real barbecue... The cole slaw salad, fried corn, the sausage and fall off tge bone ribs, no sauce needed. Amazing service too.
Hard to find anywhere good to eat around here, and then this place is ace. Delicious.
Best Charro Beans ever! BBQ is great, and the tacos are even better.
This place is amazing! All of the meats are delicious and cooked perfectly. I had brisket and got a great mix of fatty and lean pieces and they were all great. The ribs are delicious and yes the fall right off the bone. They arent overly seasoned but just the right amount. The sides are all tasty too especially mac and cheese and the baked beans. Also there isn't much of a wait.
Seriously-this is the best BBQ in Dallas! Freaking delicious and awesome customer service! Super casual too.
Horrible. For the price that you pay, you get almost half of what you would get anywhere else. The food was vastly overrated, if I were you I would save a little more money and head 2 minutes north and go see Baby Back Shak... Now there's a place where the food is delicious, and you get what you pay for.
Came here on a whim before seeing a movie at the Alamo. Holy cow, this place is great! All the meats were smoked just right and the sauce had the perfect blend of sweet and spice. Location was very clean and everyone was very nice. This is a great place to stop in if your are in the cedars area.
I come here every week. The ribs really do fall off the bone and the BBQ sauce is on point. Love it!
If you order to go check your order before you leave i walked in and placed an order to go a simple 2 meat 2 sides plate, I only got one side instead of two and the meat was barely warm and the bread almost fridge cold
Great all around. Excellent service, excellent ribs, great pulled pork! Definitely some of the best BBQ I've had. Plus I didn't have to wait for a seat and they had parking space!
Stumbled across Off The Bone and stopped to give it a try. I had the ribs and sausage. The boyfriend had ribs and pulled pork. Mouth watering good!! The boyfriend hit the tip jar again on the way out. We'll be back.
This place has some great Texas style barbecue. But stick to the chopped brisket. The chopped brisket sandwich is probably the best thing.
Excellent food. Everybody in my party of four loved it. I had the brisket and chicken combo plate. The meat was very good. My wife really enjoyed the ribs. Best fried okra I think ive ever had. The deep-fried corn was great, but only got half an ear. My only criticisms: I didn't care for the sauce, and that was a bummer. It was too vinegary. Sauce is important at a BBQ place. Would have given 5 stars if the sauce was good. Also, better bread would be an improvement. Maybe some good homemade sourdough bread. Something other than plain store-bought-type rolls. Overall, though, it was very good.
Best ribs I have ever had. Great customer service as well. This is a must stop every time I am in Dallas now!
Brisket was tough and hard to chew. Hot spices used in macaroni and beans. Peach cobbler had crunchy (not thoroughly cooked) peaches.
Best barbeque I've had in years. Very clean and the best customer service I've seen in a long time. If you want great food in a even greater staff this is a must place to go eat.
My first impression was not good as I walked in instead of greeting the Customer the employees just stared. Need Customer skills tighten. Although the young lady was nice i felt she needed to be a little more friendly. My food overall was great!! I enjoyed everything!! Will be back!!
While visiting Dallas from Cleveland this place popped up as one of the top places to get BBQ and smoked meats. Well it didn't disappoint. Ribs were tender fall the the bone, chicken cooked to perfection and the pulled pork was great. Had the potato salad and the Mac and cheese for sides they were just as good. If I could pack this up and take some home with me I would. A definite must try.
Great service and great food. Came in 12 minutes before closing and they still were so welcoming and served us quickly. They still invited us to sit in and the food was amazing. Definitely coming back.
It's okay. The brisket I tried is flavorful but very dry for my liking. I had to drown it in sauce. The rolls were dry and over baked for my taste. Our order was taken by a teenager and the service does not make up for the food. Not a place I will be coming back to. As for the price, I don't think it's worth it.
Good food, nice folks, above and beyond service. Came here with the office for a work outing, and had no expectations about being able to eat anything here (I've got celiac disease and even a little wheat makes me very ill.) But given that information, the kitchen was diligent about making sure I only got food that wouldn't make me sick. And it was tasty! Great experience!
Amazing food, the chicken was tasty and moist, ribs were "off the bone" tender, meat and sausage were also good. The BBQ beans were good but COLD and came prematurely to our meal. Food took long to be served. Maybe it was our large party and rush hour, but the staff was very, very nice. No 5 atar because beans were cold and food took long.
Upgraded BBQ! Get the queso mac&cheese with the brisket. Slaw was good, did not expect the blue cheese. Definitely unique, kicking it up a notch. Prices reflect the quality, but still reasonable around the area. I’ll be back that’s certain.
Ribs are fantastic. Great flavor and perfect texture / tender. Brisket flavor is on point. Great smoke. Did not care for the slice method. Should separate the 2 muscles so can slice both across grain. Sides are awesome!
The flavors were very good and the meats were very tender. I didn't even need to add sauce. We got all 5 meats : Links, sliced brisket, chicken, ribs and pulled pork. Sides were Mac and cheese, potato salad, and charro beans.
Cons- My first bite of the chicken was very good, but warm (not hot). The second and third were cooler and had a texture that made me question if the meat was thoroughly cooked. All other meats were cooked well but were lukewarm. The exception to this were the beans. It was the last thing we got to and was still piping hot. Warning - the beans are a bit spicy.
The other con- my hair now reeks of the smoke.
I'll probably get this to-go next time to avoid the smell and to heat up the meats on our lodge skillet.
Excellent BBQ!! Had the pulled pork sliders, potato salad, and fries. Everything was amazing - and I don't even eat BBQ! Had an afterhours work function here, they stayed open later for our group - fast service with a smile. Absolutely LOVE this place and will be back next time I'm in town.
Fantastic Texas smoked barbecue! One of the best in Texas!! The only reason I give it an average is because it's an overpriced hole-in-the-wall joint. Counter service is friendly and helpful. This place knows how to smoke barbecue. Don't miss it and don't be freaked out by the sketchy neighborhood.
Stood in line for over 20 minutes. When it was finally my turn to order the guy took off again, so I left. Food looked good though
Not sure why this place rates so highly. My husband was born and bred in Texas so he knows good BBQ. This place is NOT it. We ordered 3 meats plate with double brisket and chicken. The brisket was dry and had so much fat lined along the top of it but had no flavor and barely seasoned. We went to order the baby back ribs and took forever to get. Again, barely any flavor and dry. Was really looking forward to biting into a juicy piece of meat with a good housemade BBQ sauce and fortunately this place is a flop. Service was dismal too and plates made of Styrofoam (bad for the environment and our health). My husband and I left so disappointed AND hungry. Avoid this place at all costs.
Best brisket I’ve ever eaten. Better than Pecan Lodge, better than Lockhart’s.... Delicious, friendly owners, no nonsense, no gimmicks. This place is legit.
Super clean establishment that smells like barbecue heaven when you walk in! The sausage sandwich and spicy fries were phenomenal! Will definitely be back!
My family and I enjoyed the meal tremendously. The ribs, chicken and brisket were extremely tender and seriously fell off the bone. The spicy fries, beans and potato salad were just as amazing. We will be making "Off the bone" our new favorite BBQ place.
Very surprised with this little BBQ joint on the edge of downtown Dallas. It could be a little easy to pass as there is not much around this place. The ribs here are quite good, and the service is fast enough for a quick lunch during work.
Quality wise, I wasn't blown away, but it was still pretty good. Definitely worth checking out if you work downtown or live by this restaurant.
Stopped here for dinner on the way out of Texas. great ribs and fried corn! The kitchen forgot a few things but were quick to fix it when it was brought to their attention.
The BBQ here is AMAZING!!!!!!!!! The staff there is awesome too. In Dallas for a engagement party were told by the locals about this place and it was worth the trip. Came all the way from Wisconsin and wanted some Texas BBQ
Local BBQ operator makes great food!! Ribs were well cooked and the side dishes are a perfect compliment. You won't wait long and the sides are pretty good. The cole slaw with blue cheese is to die for!!
We travel frequently to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and we ALWAYS find time to stop by and get the best Barbecue I’ve EVER HAD!!! It’s flavorful, moist and affordable.
My husband found this place online or in a magazine maybe. We were visiting from Houston. So we came to check it out. The food was good, but something about that corn! It was so delicious!!!! Definitely try the corn!
I'm all doing this review for my husband who does not review but asked me to review this place for him. Said great brisket! Tender and juicy !! I'm sorry i am a vegetarian and did not indulge. So take this review or leave it. But it was a very busy place so the food must be good.
Good bbq, Texas style. Real smoke and long cooking makes the brisket great! Fast service. Not very crowded on Saturday night.
I would say that was the best barbecue I have ever had! The ribs and brisket were perfect. Ribs literally fell off the bone! Tender and tasty. French fries and beans were a great complement and just as good. I highly recommend it!
Food was pretty decent. The men working were friendly. Moderately priced. Portions are slightly small but not too heavy. The pulled.pork and brisket are pretty good.
The beef sausage had great flavor and texture. I would have liked to see a bit mor marbling on the moist brisket. All-in-all is was a tasty visit.
Excellent food excellent service. I had the rib tacos and pulled pork sandwiches. I eat a lot of barbecue and the pulled pork is my new favorite. Tacos are perfectly seasoned and the rib meat is exceptional. Tortillas are a bit tough but that's great for to-go as they do not get very soggy. On to-go orders of the pulled pork, I recommend getting the buns on the side as they were very soggy by the time I got to them. Fried corn is a great treat as well.
Went there for a quick bite. I got the pulled pork taco and spicy fries. My friend got the loaded baked potato with brisket. The taco was good, had a nice kick to it, and the fries were okay. They were a bit soggy by the time we got back to the hotel, but still spicy. The baked potato was definitely loaded. Worth the 11 and change she paid for. Would probably stop by again if I was in the area.
Wow!! The ribs (truly fall off the bone), con queso Mac-n-cheese, and seasoned corn on the cob (w/ lime wedge) were phenomenal. Very welcoming and kind staff. Such a clutch barbecue spot in Dallas. My favorite to date, and I used to hold Pecan Lodge up at the top. This is a must if you’re in Dallas! Will be back for sure.
BBQ and the atmosphere at this location is super good. Do not leave if it's busy, it is worth it. I will be back with my coworkers. They have a lot of great reviews for a reason.
Generous meat portions. I had brisket, ribs and chicken with potato salad and three meat beans as the side. I really enjoyed the brisket and the beans. Everything else was pretty average. I did not care for the barbecue sauce but the ribs and brisket were good to me without the sauce assist. Very laid back atmosphere. I like.
I'm sitting here in this restaurant trying to contain my anger of how awful this food is. I ordered ribs, chicken, and brisket with green beans and mac and cheese and it's all freaking room temperature. Literally cold to the touch. Now I try not to be that person that complains and I won't. I'll just take this $22 loss. I am unbelievably pissed right now and maybe I just came on the wrong day but today the food should be as good as any other day. I was recommended by a passenger of mines and I truly regret coming here and I will definitely not come back. I should've tried Pecan Lodge instead. Everything tasted old like it was from yesterday or like it wasn't kept hot. The best thing was my ice cold Pepsi. It is truly a shame.
Friendly people even when we arrived 10 minutes before closing. The flavor of the ribs was nice and smoky, with a hint of the pecan wood and like in the name, the meat was fall off the bone, DELICIOUS! Congrats to celebrating 10 years of business- wishing you many more years of success.
Good BBQ. Loved the brisket, the ribs were ok. Place is pretty small but the food is great and so are the sides. Has its own parking lot downtown which is nice. All in all this is good Texas BBQ.
As a self proclaimed BBQ connoisseur I was thrilled with Off The Bone. Tangy house BBQ sauces with a twist of heat in almost every menu item delights the adventurous side of my palate. You'll find chopped jalapeno in the mac and cheese and honey baked beans that gives the oomph to make them more interesting then the bland sides they usually are. The pulled pork melts in your mouth. Can be a busy place but the food came out timely and hot. The guys running the place are polite and funny. If youre in Dallas do not miss. It could give Pecan Lodge a run for best Dallas BBQ.
This is one of my favorite BBQ places in Dallas. I typically gorge myself on a three meat and two sides platter here, but today, I showed some restraint...read this and 534 more
