How would you rate Jo Jo's Hair Braiding?
If I can give a negative star I would. I came in for faux locs and lefted with plugs and bald spots.. Never AGAIN
I BEWARE!!!!! ladies: please stay as far away from this place as possible. I never do reviews but I need to give yall fair warning. If you want your hair to look right a week after getting it done and spending your money - please look else where for African braiding! I came here off a whim and wanted jumbo twists. I got what THEY wanted me to have. After not even 2 weeks more than 8 braids had slipped out of my head and the rest were looking a hot mess! I came back and showed the owners daughter how my hair looked and she and the other CUSTOMERS agreed I should have it redone for free. Ok show up to have it redone - they tried to charge me for the hair again! The same 2 women started redoing it with both of them doing 2 different size twists on each side of my head and when I was telling them about they literally were looking at me and ignoring the fact I was saying something, so rude! ... I could go on and on about this place but let me just say PLEASE STAY AWAY if you don't want to waste your money and time!
I have had my hair braided here on 3 separate occasions over the course of 3 years. The first time was small individual braids. The second time was small Senegalese twists. And this last time was supposed to be medium size Havana twists. The first two times, I loved my braids. They lasted long enough for me to feel like I got my money's worth (over 2 months in both cases) while looking good until I was ready to uninstall them. This last time is a whole other story howevert I will take some blame....I should have done more research and been more patient. I saw the Havana twists on Pinterest and Instagram and had to have them. And at the time of installation I had the money and time to get them installed. I didn't however get the right kind of hair because I assumed they would have it at the salon like every other time (MISTAKE #1). I was a walk-in and when I arrived at about 10am on a Saturday morning there were 3 other ladies already getting their braids installed. The lady told me it would be just a few minutes before someone could start on me. An hour later, some more braiders showed up and 2 of them started on me. Once I decided what color I wanted they started to prep the hair and I knew it was the wrong kind of hair but I didn't say anything because I was hoping it wouldn't make that much of a difference in the final look of the twists (MISTAKE #2). Once they were about three-fourths of the way done, I had to take a bathroom break. I looked at the twists in the mirror and was completely disappointed by the fact that they weren't installed with the "invisible root method":instead they were braided first (the way Senegalese twists are started) then two strand twisted to a certain point and then finished with 3-strand braid to the end of the hair. I should have asked them to start over but I didn't (MISTAKE #3) since I was almost done. Once, I got home I immediately tried to loosen them a little because the bottom row at the nape of my neck was KILLING me they were so super tight. About 3 days after installation I had to uninstall that row bc I was afraid I would be bald. That same day I noticed that some of the twist on the sides in the front were starting to look messy and were so loose that they looked like I had had the twists for a month already. I was sleeping on a satin pillowcase and using a silk scarf to tie them down at night. Nevertheless, I went back to salon 7 days after the initial installation to have those particular twists redone. It should be noted that I got my hair wet in the shower right before I went to the salon and it had not completely dried by the time I got there. The lady tried to argue with me that twists had come undone bc I had gotten my hair wet and that she wouldn't be able to re-twist it properly....
I said all of the above to say. This braiding salon is better at some styles than others. And they will not turn you down or try to educate you if you ask them to do something that they are not that good at. They will take your money and tell you that you got what you asked for then argue with you if you try have it fixed. I'm not sure if I will go back to them again. I'll have to really think hard on it. I'm on week 3 of these twists and with $190 invested I don't want to take them down. But they look like I've had them in for months... :-(
NEVER AGAIN! I called 3 days ahead to schedule my appt. Talked to Jojo, herself. I got there and there wasn't anybody there to do my cornrows. I waited 2 hrs for someone to arrive. They offered no apologies! Another lady came in, they immediately seated her, but didn't start her hair for another 45 minutes. Then another lady came in, immediately seated, and they proceeded to tell her that she brought the wrong hair. Charged her $10/bag for a $2 bag of hair. They braided way too tight and I ended up with jacked up edges and a couple bald spots. I'll say again, NEVER AGAIN! Poor work ethic and no respect for customers time. Two thumbs down.
Went in to get my locs retwisted and was left very upset with the results. Left the gel caked up in my hair and burned my scalp trying to dry it. I would not recommend these people to anybody.
I needed to have my hair braided, I wanted it done on my off day which was a Sunday. I was a walk in, I got there around 1145. I was asked what kind of style I wanted. After a few minutes of discussion she started on my hair. Ten minutes into parting my hair another customer walks in and says she has a 12 o'clock appointment. At this time I was asked to sit somewhere else for 10 minutes and the next stylist will be assisting me once she arrives. Ten minutes turned into 40 minutes. The stylist that eventually braids my hair is very unfocused. She stopped every 15-20 minutes, she stayed texting on her phone. I didn't leave until 845 that evening. I've been here before I've never experienced service like yat here. I do understand they were unusually busy for a Sunday. The longest it has taken in this place is 4-5 hours for the same hairstyle. She acted like I was inconveniencing her with me being there. The owner is great!! But her workers are horrible!! I will not be recommending this place again!!
The worst customer service ever!!!! I made an appointment for 9:30 am. I got there and the braider was not aware of the appointment. I sat there waiting until 12:30 waiting to get my hair done. The owner started to be really disrespectful due to the fact that I was upset about having an appointment and having to wait 3 hours. Never once did she apologize for her mistake of not informing the braider of my appointment , instead she started an argument with me and did not allow her braider Aji to braid my hair after waiting 3 hours. I was told that she didn't care about me having to wait and to leave. As I was sitting there waiting another customer called her about services and not sure what the customer was complaining about but the owner told her not to come back there. I left Jojo and went to sisters sisters and was out of there in 1 1/2 hours. Moral of the story is Jojo is rude and does not appreciate her customer. She treated the braiders as if there slaves and as if she owns them. She represents Forest Lane very well!!!! The 1 star is very overrated
Trust that one star is not meant. I'm so disappointed with the service I've received. I've been coming to this shop for about 7 years. I went in for twist on Saturday and they are all slipping out, even after gping back on Monday to tell them and have them half ass "correct" them. It's like ever since the shop has added a location, the quality of the Dallas shop has fallen off tremendously. They are all lazy and walk around and braid like they barely want to be there except for the daughters. I will never go there again and I've been a repeat customer. Spend your money else where ladies and gentlemen. Especially if you don want your braids/twists falling out after a day or so. So disappointed. Oh well, you live, you learn, and you no longer go to JoJo's.
Hit or miss...it all depends on who braids your hair. Can have a really good experience or a horrible one. Worth checking out however, inorder to walk away satisfied be assertive and get clarification on the style you want and the exact price. Beware of the inexperienced braiders who will probably be doing the back of your head. If it doesn't feel right...say something. You pay over $200 for a style, you deserve quality work all the way around...not just in the front of your head.
My cornrow braids started falling apart after 3 days !!! I paid 100$ for them to look good for 3 days !?! Cheap hair as well !! And she braided WAY too tight my skin is ripping off my scalp from her braiding too tight . I have done already had to cut some of MY hair that was ripping my skin off . this is the most painful , unprofessional braids ever !! Maybe if she wasn't getting distracted every 8 mins and wasn't on her phone the whole time , they would be good quality braids. I won't be coming back.
When I first came in their they were nice but i didn't get any names.i was with my daughters and she got. Crochet in the middle And I asked if they could do the edges regularly and when I told her she was doing it wrong she got an attitude.i asked her for color and she said(50)$extra I said I no thank you at the end I asked for clips and she wanted to charger me a dollar extra I said no never mind if I want to pay for them I would've just bought them at the store when I got done after three days the brain came out I called them back and they said ma'am that is not a problem I don't appreciate them so I don't think you should go HATED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
They do a good job but they take alllllll damn day to do your hair! A 2 hour job turns into a 5-6 hour process because they too busy talking either on the phone or to each other so they go slow as hell. It's rude to talk on the phone in someone's ear the whole entire time. The owner is good and her one daughter that looks just like her but the rest are something else. They need at least 2 people on one head at all times and maybe it will go faster. My first experience was horrible
I went there on Saturday to get Goddess braids in a pony tail and I ended up with 7 huge cornrows in a ponytail for $100. They only gave me half of my money back. I will NEVER go back and I wish I had read the reviews prior to going because honestly the 2.1 stars is reaching they deserve any stars but I gave them 1 because it is required by google!
They do a good job on the outside.. So at first glance you think it's ok. In the middle they do them too spaced out and any kind of way.. After a week they are already coming out.. A waste of $200
I've gone here twice a year for the last 3 years for the exact same style and prior to today I would have given 3 stars. Like I mentioned I get the same style but I've paid $240-$260 for the same style. Why the price isn't the same. But today!!!! Oh today they charged me $250 and I had to buy my own hair. IVE NEVER HAD TO BUY MY OWN HAIR BEFORE! So I basically paid $270 for the style. So it's two chicks on my hair one of them I like her she's done my hair before but the other!!! Never seen her before and she did the back half of my head. Why is the back shorter than the front and it looks thin and they only gave me $10 back!!! Needless to say I'm PISSED and I will NEVER go there again or refer anyone else to them!!!!
I have been coming here for a few of years now and in the last year their service has really gone down the drain. The quality of hair they use is bad, and what used to take 3.5-4 hours now takes 6-7. I had an issue with them braiding my daughters hair too tight and I asked them to take it down so it wouldn't pull her hair out and the lady tried to tell me no. I asked her numerous times and then she finally did and realized as she was taking it down that it was braided bad. I will not be coming back here again.
Originally I was quoted $180 but ended up paying $220 for my braids. They ran out of hair and after a week I had two braids come out. On top of that, it took them almost 6 hours because they kept stopping to talk, eat, text. Also I didn't appreciate how tight they braids were. Even while braiding, I let them know that they were way too tight. I had a headache for a week. I won't be returning
They are good braiders but their service is despicable!!! This is my second time here.. My hair was halfway done and they told me to pay. I refused at first then they said that I should have paid before they started. I went to the ATM across with my hair half-braided and got the money. As soon as I paid them, they stopped working on my hair!! I had 4 people working on my hair gossiping as loud as possible in French and after I paid, one went to sleep, another got on her phone and stayed on it and the third one went and started combing and fixing her hair!! I DIDN'T PAY OVER $200 FOR JUST ONE PERSON TO WORK ON MY FREAKING BRAIDS!!! To make matters worse the only one left braiding started doing small cornrows in the middle of my hair thinking I wouldn't notice😤😤😤 Oh, also they said my price included the hair but they didn't have one of the colors I wanted so I went to the Beauty Supply to buy it and they still charged me full price and didn't reimburse me for the 2 bags of hair I bought!! YOU'RE BETTER OFF GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE DUPED AND LEAVE WITH THE WORST HEADACHE OF YOUR LIFE!!🙄🙄🙄
Man they are some disrespectful bitches stoped on my head to do some more stuff pissed me off I guess they offer other services besides hair don't go they EXPENSIVE for nothing and prices change every day
I have been coming for years and have had a good experience most times. One thing is my hair is beautiful and I get lots of compliments
People please don’t go to this salon, it’s beyond awful, they are unprofessional, rude, and very ghetto. They even wait until your hair got started then come over to you and demand to be paid, after my hair was done it was the worst hair braiding I ever saw and had in my life
They need to be out of business
I even saw one of them trying to relax a older lady hair and didn’t know what she was doing and the customer was complaining and the girl didn’t care . She did not know what the he’ll, she was doing at all.
The shop is smelly and filthy, omg them Africans needs to have manners, hair training or be put out of business.

My hair came out after one day and no knew how to “braid” apparently to fix it but the lady whom did my hair
They were 1 hr late arriving for my scheduled appt. Did a good job. Fair price.
The dark one JoJo has no type of good customer service , she was talking about my braid hair to the other customers , she was parting my hair to hard , she was letting people come in front of me when I made an appointment , they just unorganized and need more practice , she tax me on my card when I wanna pay with it . they just need more practice seriously , and she needs to learn how to respect , JoJo Yu can't get no money with no attitude , you Gotta do better and watch how you handle your scissors too I went up there twice you was a lil wild , calm down with those cause you was not gone have a shop if they would've have cut me , I will not Spend no more money with y'all I like my respect 💯👌
I love this shop. I've been a patron for some years always satisfied. Mimi does my sewins and Tamara does my braids. Prices are reasonable to me
Worst Hair Salon in DFW. I am not sure how they are still in business. They should be out of business. Horrible Customer Service. Nasty Attitude. All they care about is your money. They want you to pay before service so they can give you a horrible job and you won't be able to do anything about it since you have already paid. Please stay away from this place. Avoid it like a plague
highly recommend Patty!!
