How would you rate Buttons Restaurant?
So many people had ranted and raved about Buttons for a good while, and I was really excited to go! The hype did not live up to my expectations. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad place but it just wasn't what I had expected it to be. Our reservations were made for 8:30 but when they called to confirm the time had been changed to 9:00. Even with reservations we still had to wait a good long while before finally getting a table. We had to keep asking the waiter to take glasses, refills, etc.... I would go back but not on a Friday or Saturday night. The live band was good though!
Not exactly what I expected. Too ritzy of a flavor for my liking. I had ordered the pork chops, great size, however they smothered it with some kind of vinaigrette that tasted like cologne. Must have a certian acquired taste to appreciate the food.
Update I went again today and had a great experience
The chicken and waffles were amazing and I definitely recommend them. The staff was polite and did everything they could to help me and my guest. They offered wheelchair seating, cut up our food, and helped serve buffet with smiles on their faces!
My friend loved the music and meatloaf. We will absolutely be back
Totally disappointed! I live in Westover Hills, 5 mins away and had been wanting to try this place for sometime. In the mood for a Chicken Fried Steak we headed to Charlestons on Hulen. As we've passed Buttons many times we decided to try it out instead. We were seated immediately in one of the front booth. Our waitress came and greeted us. I made the remark of advising her that this was our 1st visit and she immediately became energized and bubbly. We ordered 2 mix drinks that were very good. We then decided to order. I had the Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes, and mac n cheese. My partner had the Shrimp Creole and Jalapeno Grits. Our food came and i was turned off immediately. My chicken fried steak was cold and had definitely been prepared before hand. The mashed potatoes were dry and crusty. The man n cheese was dry as well with burned cheese on the top. My partners plate was very disappointing as well. The portion for $18.00 was equivalent to a cup of soup. Although it was good it was not worth $18.00 dollars. I asked the Manger to replace my food and he did. It was much better than before. The manager was by far sympathetic towards the fact i was dissatisfied. Needless to say I will never go back. I don't mind spending $86.00 dollars but only for quality food. This was by far quality nor good service. Also the ceilings to this place are dirty and dusty. I looked up and was checking out the place and saw nothing but dust and dirt. I'm sure all this is falling in the air.
After meeting Keith at a mixer at the Worthington we decided to have lunch at his resturant. Our server "Ben" was great.. IThat type of dining I usually judge them by their chicken fried steak. It was great. Would have been perfect with a white gravy rather than the brown gravy that it was served with. Can't wait to try the pot roast.
Waitress is the queen of excuses on why they were empty and out of things that make meals completeUtterly disappointed, nothing like t.v., overpriced, and don't know how to prepare catfish or an Irish coffee do not waist time or money.
Waffles are good but chicken is made by a Greek slave, they should call it buttons greens, waffles, and alcohol
My favorite spot to kick back! Bar specials are awesome. My favs are Button Buttons (fried mushrooms) and Knockout Punch! Atmosphere is low key and it's never crowed. The live music is nice too.
Googled a Sunday brunch buffet and this place came up, along with several others. So glad we chose Button's! The spread was a great mix of breakfast (bacon, sausage patties, sausage gravy, biscuits, French toast, scrambled eggs, grits, home fries, fresh fruits, etc.) and lunch/dinner items (pot roast, shrimp ettoufe, Mac n cheese, rice, baked chicken, fried catfish, green beans, collard greens, etc.) and dessert to boot! There is also an omelette station with many options for add-ins. The service was excellent and the atmosphere pleasant as well, we will definitely come back the next time we're in Ft. Worth.
My Sister and I took our Mother and both our Grandmother's to lunch on Monday for Mother's day! We Always do this, and wanted to try something new. A few of my friends Suggested Button's. We had an EXCELLENT experience. Our Waiter Conner was Very patient and helpful and knowledgeable about the food, and ingredients! Our Grandmother's, (tho we LOVE them dearly) can be a bit difficult (never rude) at times, and Conner took the time to make sure they got exactly what they wanted. I ordered a beer that you no longer had, and he suggested another one and brought me a sample to make sure i liked it, before bringing and charging me for it! I always appreciate good wait staff because my sister and i both have been in the service industry our whole working lives! The food was DELICIOUS! we all tried something we had never tried before. We will definitely be back to dine here. And HOPEFULLY Conner will be our server again!
The BEST Chicken Fried Steak..I've had in a long time..HOMEMADE gravy!!! And green beans to die for!!! Definitely will be back!!
As being one of Buttons orginial fans I'm almost ready to give my fan card back. Primarily due to the service, presentation and quantity of food and performance of guest. The saying is money changes things and this hasn't been for the good. Happy Hour crowds from nearby TCU, Carswell and Lockheed aren't making it happy anymore. Closing out your long work week on a Friday isn't no longer celebratory moment with friends. Food taste and quality seems to have changed while ole Mr. Buttons remain the same. This old found staple of Fort Worth is truly going to need some of the old time oldies but goodies brought back. Until than I pop in every now and again to hope for a blast of Buttons from the past. *Sad-Face Sigh*
Great Service, we had the fried Green Tomatoes and it was the best I ever had! For the entrée I had the shrimp, fish and grits and it blew my mind! Whenever I'm in the DFW Area I will stop by Buttons. Great Great Great!
My husband and I were visiting friends in Texas and wanted us to try Buttons Restaurant. What a wonderful place to dine and listen to live jazz. The food was awesome and the service was great. Of course the music was soothing and making us want to dance! Our waitress was Akasha and she was very pleasant and had great energy! The taste of the food is still on my palate! Thank you!
The food was outstanding...I ate Chicken Fried Chicken with green beans, garlic mashed potatoes, collared greens and corn bread. It all tasted like home cooking. Great atmosphere to have dinner. The service was excellent and the music was great (Old School)...Soul Sounds performed very well...enjoyed the music. Plan to return next weekend. Rating...5 Star restaurant.
I've given this place three chances... Each time the food was just ok. Now, I'm from Michigan so I think my taste buds are built different..lol
The live band however, was a good source of entertainment. Yet, this placed is just not my cup of tea. When my mother visited she enjoyed herself though.
I hear that the other location is much better than the Fort Worth location. I have yet to make it there.
I went to the Buttons /Fort Worth . This was the first time I had ever been to Buttons , and after hearing about the great food and atmosphere I was really excited... but my excitement was short lived.. we got there at about 8:00 pm and it was Saturday 11/21/15. I expected the wait to be a little long, but the greeter told us it would be about 45 min to 1 hr. So we waited for 1 hr and 45 min..there was 5 of us. After 1.75 hrs we asked how much longer and they said " I don't know, whenever a table comes available, maybe another 45 min to 1 hr" (straight face)... Needless to say.. we were not going to wait another 45 min to an hour. We had already been waiting 1.75 hrs... So we left very disappointed!.. I can't comment on the food because I never had a chance to taste it.. There needs to be some kind of system developed at Button so that all of your patrons can get a chance to eat and enjoy. People eat and then they just sit and listen to the band, and converse like it's a club! It's A Restaurant!! for crying out loud! Eat, enjoy the band for 15- 20 minutes and get up and leave so someone else can eat and enjoy for a short time. Ridiculous! I am sure Buttons is missing out on a lot of $$$ too! Please try to resolve this issue. I will go back some day, when I am over this disappointment and try again to eat there. But is will be a while as I am too upset to go back real soon. Thank you for the listening ear and hopefully taking in to consideration the resolution to this issue because there were many people leaving because of this.
I normally don't do reviews unless the place is really bad or really good. In this case, this place is really good. They have great food, I suggest getting the salmon. Its DELICIOUS! I bought it both times I visited. Its classy & I enjoyed the live music.
Button's has become one of my favorite restaurants. Love the fried whole okra. Also love the chicken fried chicken and meat loaf. Only thing I would like is that with the entrees that you can choose your sides. There are some that I. Want to try that won't come with the dish.
Got there on a night that was supposed to have live music. We were seated, and waited 10 mins only for NO ONE to come to our table and greet us. Smh wish it was better
I'm going to have to second the great chicken and waffles comment. I'll counter with the best meatloaf and peas I've ever had in my life. Their Sunday Brunch is really something special that shouldn't be missed.
Horrible food is the headline here. Most of the items are store bought, so you can technically save yourself money by simply going to Wal-Mart and buying a meal. I cannot think of even one item they actually cooked themselves. However, if your goal is to simply get out of the house and have fun, you will have accomplished that I suppose, but you can definitely do better. From the ragged parking lot to the tacky decor inside, which leads into horrible food this place is just plain horrible. Dirty and horrible.
From the Chicken "Wangs " to the Catfish and Shrimps w/Cheesy grits (I love cheesy grits now!!) to the Sweet mini pie (Lawd !!!-Patty who?). Bravo !!!! w/ a Little Jazz music... don't change a thang....
This could have been really bad but, turned out great! I called at about 11:40 pm and asked if the kitchen was open til closing. The employee told me yes. So, the wife and I drove the 20 miles. When we got there, we were welcomed by a sign that said kitchen closed. I explained the situation and one of the employees brought over Herb, the owner. I explained again and he said "hey, no problem, let's get you fed". Chelsea was our server and she was very attentive. Good food and drink. Kitchen does close at midnight and the live music was blues and was also outstanding. Thanks Herb!! See you again soon
I use to work here. The atmosphere and the food was amazing! I tried almost everything on the menu. If I had continued working there I would for sure be good and plump.
If you are looking nice atmosphere to have a drink in this is a good spot, however if you are looking for a nice dining experience....ummmm....I would not recommend it.
1. The food is "okay"
2. The seating is too close to one another
3. The wait time....omg
In my experience my waitress was very unwelcoming, and begin to neglect us when I sent my order back because of my dissatisfaction with the meal. So...the next time I choose to go to this restaurant, it will only be for the drinks and music :)
I heard nothing but good reviews about Buttons. Well it just confirmed what I've always said. If people have been starving all their lives, any morsel of food would seem like heaven. I tried the chicken & waffles: Waffles came to the table cold, syrup cold, waffles had no flavor, I mean NO FLAVOR! The powdered sugar was caked over the waffles not sprinkled on. What a mess! The chicken pieces were very small. The collard greens left a lot to be desired. No Southern Flavor, it's like they didn't even try! You gotta be kidding me! Yet people love this place, WHY??? The Chef or Expeditor should have never allowed that plate to leave the back. I guess when you think you're hot stuff, you ease up and stop trying. There's a great book the Chef/Owners/Employees should read: Lessons in Excellence from Charlie Trotter. Buttons in this case tasted like BUTT-ons. -1 star!
We have been there twice and I have enjoyed it very much. The first time we went there they did not have live music playing but the food was great and the service was above and beyond my expectations. I went back again a week later with other friends and the service was better than any 5 stars restaurant I have ever been before and this time they had live music and it was absolutely wonderful, relaxing and soulful. One thing i would recommend would be to have more options on their menu otherwise I will be coming back again and will absolutely recommend to anyone.
Sitting at the bar trying to order food and drinks is a task when the place is LOUD and its hard to get the bartenders attention.
In a loud place like this bartenders must know you have to look your patrons in the eye to acknowledge whether or not they need anything.
It was hard to get my bartenders attention and the oxtails could have been cooked a little longer for tenderness. Greens weren't hot, only mildly warm.
Its 11:45pm thought. Should I expect my oxtails and greens to be perfect this late? Yeah. When I'm paying $22.
First off had friends in from out of town. Had reservations for 7:30. We were seated at 8:00, then five minutes later one of the ladys told us we would have to move to another table because we were seated at the wrong table. Now i can understand a mistake can be made but she got an attitude and didnt own up to her mistake. After being moved ans reseated we werent served our food until an hour and a half later and the food was cold and not good as usual. I would recommed that Mr. Buttons neec to make an appearance to his restuarant and see whats really going on in his spot!!!!! With that being said i will never spend another hard earned dime in this place. RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE,COLD FOOD,AND LONG WAITS DONT MAKE A GOOD RECIPE FOR A GREAT RESTURANT OR HAPPY CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!
Baby, when I tell you that the food was great... It was Great! The atmosphere, the service, the drinks...everything was 💯. We came in on a Suday. They serveed an open brunch buffet with $2 Mimosas🍸🍾. AWESOME!! . We wished we came here the first day, but really didn't think to venture out far at first. Glad we found it. So we can come back for next time. If your looking for a place that has everything going on at one time....Buttons is the spot. Good food, live music, service and good vibe. Definitely coming back👍👍👍. Hope they make one in Houston TX real soon.
I had reservations at 10pm on Aug 6th and my reservations were somehow canceled. I spoke with two managers Yolanda and Carolyn and they fixed my reservations. But Yolanda was very polite, her tone was very delightful and genuine. I am looking forward for my visit tomorrow as it is a surprise dinner for my mother and I planned ahead of time . This was the only placed that could hold my party of 15 and not require a minimum tab. After my visit I will be writing an additional review . Thank you so much Carolyn and Yolanda . Your customer service is greatly appreciated!
Always loved to go to the location in Addison when I'm in Texas. Just for the pot roast. Unfortunately they were sold out of it so I had to try something new!! I was not disappointed at all with the spicy chicken wings. Service was good and the food came out quick. I gave 4 stars cause my mouth was watering for the pot roast. I'll be back for it.
My experience yesterday for Thanksgiving with my family was far from what I expected! As a Chef myself, I understand how extremely difficult it can be to please several different palates and for a large crowd at that! However, whats a feast without dessert which we were not informed they ran out of. My biggest issue was the lack of flavor!! The green beans were bland and almost for certain frozen not fresh , the yams were from a can, the macaroni and cheese dry as ever as well as the turkey and do I need to repeat there was no dessert. I have a family of 6 (2 adults 4 children) and our bill was $160. We all did not even finish 1 plate. This was DEFINITELY not worth that and a COMPLETE waste of money and time! I'm also disappointed at the attention to detail by our server. Me personally if I seen a family not eating I would want to know was there something wrong and what I could do to fix it! As you can see thia was not the case!
I had such an amazing time... Traveling from Frisco was definitely worth it.. We had Breshaun as a server who was amazing and he even sent Keith over who's from out hometown. #Stl.. then we sat at the bar and was served by Chelsea and Josh who were also welcoming and amazing.. I truly had a great time... Can't wait to come back...
By far the best soul food I have ever had! If you haven't been here come by and have my man the chef make you some amazing food! Best food great price and an awesome atmosphere. the staff are the best servers in town
We were celebrating my fiancé's birthday. It was a surprise birthday dinner for him, not to mention we drove 60 miles to get here. When I made reservations for 8p, I told them that it was a surprise birthday dinner party. My party arrived an hour in advance and they did not have our booth ready, which was understandable because our reservations were for 8p. At 8 o' clock we were told that our booth wasn't ready, at 8:50p we were still waiting because our booth wasn't ready. I asked the host why would they make reservations and not honor them, he stated they seat first come first serve because they get crowded but reservations take priority. My response to him was, "I can't tell because we are still standing." We had to gather our group and change the plans because everyone was hungry and an hr. later our reservations were still not honored.
The food was absolutely perfect, fried chicken like my grandmother made, collard greens with a hint of spice, creamy spinach with a hint of spice as well. I was delighted with all of it, the atmosphere was great also. This is a place that will be getting a lot of attention from my family in the future. Chef Keith came to our table, very genuine man, talked about his influences on his cooking, his grandmothers. This is a guy who loves to cook and entertain and his restaurant is proof!
If you love good live music and fantastic food then this is the place for you. I always have a good time when I come here. Come for the music but stay for those fantastic collard greens. Even better than momma made. This place is very highly recommended.
The worst catering experience ever. My family and I decided to have Buttons for Christmas Eve. The order for 20 was placed weeks ago and when we arrived the hostess said she had no idea what we were talking about and yelled at the woman at the bar and told us to see her. She went to the kitchen to research and the chef/owner returned with the order. He said everything was ready except the chicken for the chicken and waffles. He assured us it would take 15 minutes. Instead of apologizing to us he commented on the fact that it was the holidays and we didn't look like it. We stood at the bar for a hour (45 minutes longer). He returned at that time. Another cool had our food and we loaded in the car. He said be careful of the collard greens spilling. The box was flooding with juice from the collard greens when we put it in the trunk. We got napkins and towels from the bar staff. While that was happening my sister in law was waiting to settle out bill. We were charged $150 more than what was quoted during the many emails and calls to set up this catering order. When we got the food to our Christmas Eve party we realized we did not have serving utensils for the meats and sides as well as no syrup for the waffles in the chicken and waffles trays we order. As the family started to eat we all agreed the macaroni and cheese did not have cheese. A few of us have been to Buttons once before for a birthday party and I think this is the last time we will eat there or order their catering. They do not seem like they offer catering even if it says they do on the website.
Went here many times before for family dinners. Stopped in on christmas eve for a drink and quick bite at upstairs bar. As always everything was excellent. Staff was great. Food is always at the top of my list. We even picked up some of the tamales for our family dinner.
Cons: If you plan to make reservations here, please keep in mind they operate on CPT. We arrived 15 min prior to our reservation and waited an hour before our tables were ready. It appears as though they over book there reservations and then it's first come first serve. Several problems with the food as well. Rice was over cooked for the shrimp creole. They only give you 1 jumbo shrimp. Then they use miniature cup-o-noodle shrimp to fill the creole (very cheap). When the food was delivered it arrived Luke warm. Their cornbread was solid as a rock. The chicken must have not been that great as well as I witnessed other patrons boxing it up to take home after taking a couple of bites (probably to add more seasoning). My advice you better off eating before you come and they need to fire the chefs, hire new ones.
PROS: friendly staff, awesome decor, great music, clean restrooms
Buttons is some of the best food we've had in the Fort Worth area. Try the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Yo Mama's Chicken. To die for! The service was great, especially since we were in a large party. She handled it like a champ. Everyone loved their food, and the desserts were just as fantastic as the meals. We will be back!
The first time I came it was a wonderful experience and the food was good. This time I came the restaurant was not full but the food was extremely slow coming out. The people at the table next to us left because they were tired of waiting. There was a total of seven of us and no one was happy with the quality of the food. The server never checked with us after dropping our food off so we had to go to the bar to get our own drinks. Someone in my party sent a side item back that was burned and after being told twice that it was coming out, he never received it. They charged us for extra items and when asked about it the server said they have to ring up side items separately which turned out to be untrue
. I am dissatisfied and disappointed and will not waste my time and money here again. The service has gone down and the quality of the food is not up to par.
COOL experience....cover charge after 9 p.m. even if you are having a meal.....not sure that was worth it. Our waiter was awesome. His gratuity was well earned, go Trevel!
WOW!!! This place is awesome!!! My taste buds are still dancing... The atmosphere is really chill, and laid back. The service was great. This is a must-go-to once a month at least... (Deserves 10 stars)
Went to Buttons for Mothers Day & although the wait was long, it was worth it! The food was delish! Chicken & waffles were the best, the buffet, and the dessert buffet was the best I ever had! Not yo mention the music by a blues band was so good! They have a real chef in the kitchen at Buttons! We really had a great time & I will go again!
Would of been better if I could of eaten my chicken and waffles in the same bites. I understand in tradition in bone-in chicken. But boneless chicken and waffles as an option (like every other place that serves chicken and waffles) would be awesome. Live music and staff were great.
I went for dinner with a friend and the music was so loud you couldn't hear each other talk. The service was poor and the food was bland. We were told by our waiter that it was happy hour all Thursday night and it wound up costing us 35.00 for 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers. Never again..
Music Hot! Drink Good! Atmosphere Jazzy! This was a Thursday nite our 32nd wedding anniversary, we enjoyed the jam session from the band. Here's to next year#
The food made me sick. The food was good, but mashed potatoes were cold. Waiter didn't refill my tea. Seems like this place cares more about the image than making folks happy and healthy by practicing safe and proper food handling. It was such a disappointment, as I was hoping to have had a better experience. Also the restroom was needing attention, the toilet looked like someone threw broccoli all over it. Disgusting. Will not be eating there again and I'm making sure I spread the word so no one else gets sick! #healthdepartment# The wait time was ridiculous, we came in the late afternoon and literally there were maybe three other guests. The food took forever to make it to our table. Not soul food, more like reheated reused old food.
Everything was great, food, service, our server Shamary was Wonderful and Extremely friendly and has a great personality. Oh and by the way did I mention the live bands, Oh my my my THEY WERE AWESOME. My family and I will be returning....
It was a great experience and the atmosphere was electric. Some of the food we ordered was not up to standard. The drinks were weak. Our waitress copped a little bit of a negative attitude. The band was great. Overall we enjoyed ourselves.
I recently relocated to the DFW area I stumbled upon this place by accident. I was just looking for some good comfort food and noticed Buttons was within close proximity. Its a really cool and laid back experience - I had no idea there would be live music and boy was the band awesome . I went on a weekend and it was pretty crowded. However, one of the manager who's name is Attica found me seat. After I got seated she came back to check on me to make sure I good (which I thought was excellent customer service). I had the Flash Fried Skrimpz which is to die for and a cup of Shrimp Creole which was also delicious. I had a great time and will be back soon to enjoy more food and live music!
Black owned restaurant, soul food is served here. If you like life jazz it's for you.
The music was little bit loud, we couldn't.
Their waffle are excellent.
Have always had great food and service at Buttons, with a nice atmosphere with great old school R&B. Our server Brittney was outstanding with the nicest personality and excellent customer service. If you are there to eat ask for Brittney and get the best service and the best smile in Ft Worth.
Nice, romantic vibe. Music and food really is for the soul! Best chicken and waffles I've ever had! Only thing is it was really loud, kind of difficult to hold a conversation, but overall loved it. Definitely going back!
Reservations were made but we still waited over an hour to be seated. The waiter was HORRIBLE. After pointing at me across the table (pointing is rude), he then didn't refill our glasses until the end of our meal. I didn't enjoy the loud /live band (my personal preference only). I expected an elegant restaurant but it felt more of a club scene. The food.....well i ordered collard greens and was served canned kale and collard mix. The mac n cheese had a different taste but tolerable. Chicken wings were EXCELLENT!
My boyfriend and I win here to try out the food. We made a reservation for 7 but we arrived I couldn't find a reservation. It was no problem they went ahead and said it's in the booth. The problem came when there was no staff to takeout orders we set there for about 15-20 minutes when finally the woman that said I said nobody's been by to your table. We said no and she said the staff are in a meeting but they should be finishing up. Right after that the staff came out she called the server over to our table. We ordered the salmon and the ribeye and an appetizer of shrimp and we ordered some drinks. The appetizer came out before the drinks ever made it. The drink seem to take about 15 to 20 minutes to come from the bar. The food was great. Didn't take to long to get it.. the atmosphere was great also the music they had playing was good. Overall it was pretty good besides it taking so long to get the drinks and them having no staff while they were seating people.
The hostess is horrible. We had a small party of 2 & the hostess stated she would text us as the wait was one hour. After one hour & a half we went to the hostess & she stated the manager was getting more tables. 🤔 We check again on the time frame, and this time we noticed that the hostess was not texting numbers of the customers waiting. Instead she would call out the party’s name & if you weren’t at the receptionist desk she would skip past your name. One customer called the young lady out on not sending text messages as she stated she would. Needless to say we were never seated at a table, nor did we ever receive a text message stating that our table was ready. As we were about to leave, the hostess says “Heyyyyy, I know you. You’ve been waiting. I said yes, has our name shown up yet to be seated & she she: Yes, it’s just come up. 🤔Seriously?! Mama we’ve been here for 3 hours now. We’ve eaten, enjoyed the live band & danced all while at the bar & waiting for you to send us a text message that our table was ready. Now that we are leaving the table is finally ready. #Unacceptable
The band is wonderful & the food is good but we had to enjoy both at the bar.
Starting with a positive. My food was good, just as I remember from the Addison location. The server was nice. Now also just as I remember, making a reservation here is a joke. Its so unfortunate that they haven't gotten better in all these years since I've been. The hostess sadly was visibly irritated and I stood there in front of her, oh maybe 10 min before I had to ask her about checking in. I watched her as i waited 45 min after my reservation time and she never greeted one person and barely looked up as they approached the counter. I mean restaurants stay packed in DFW, with long waits so that's not an issue for me. I've been to worse. But the lack of courtesy to customers is sad. I want so bad to love this place or be back but I highly doubt it. 😕
Brunch is amazing here. We arrived shortly after they opened and the wait time was less than 5 minutes. They have a great selection of food in the buffet. The waiter was very attentive to our table and helpful.
1/12/18 : Whitney was our server. She is gorgeous, attentive, and amazing. The music was wonderful. The owners were present and friendly. The atmosphere was perfect for a date.
I had the buffet. Good food - collard greens & catfish was my fav. Shawn (our server) was polite and efficient. Great customer service.
The atmosphere was great, music was fun and it was a great start to our experience. When our waiter finally arrived, he was nice but acted perturbed that he had to wait on our section. He even told us that he was “told” to wait on our section too. After that we scarcely saw him. When we finally got our food, the flavors were different, I personally was not a fan, but everything looked nice and was presentable.
Over the course of our meal, I received no refills on my drink even though it was empty when our food arrived. My wife’s food was forgotten and came 10 minutes later. Our waiter disappeared for 40 minutes and then aced aggravated when we asked for our check. I really choked when our bill was $50 for just the two of us (no alcohol or appetizers - just a meal and tea).
Over all, the experienced was mixed. There were so many good things about Button’s, but also so many things that just made the night completely unenjoyable.
Buttons is AWESOME!! The best chicken and waffles I have ever had in my life!!!! Great atmosphere and great band. Please go to Buttons. You will not be disappointed.
My husband an I went out to Buttons last night to celebrate Valentine's Day. It had been about 5 or 6 years since I'd been there. I was appalled at the hostess greeting and seating people that night. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. I don't understand why they would allow this at the in the place, let alone at the front. She was wearing what looked like a shirt for a dress. She is a big woman with a huge stomach and rolls everywhere. You could literally see the hairs on her cat. This is how short this so called dress was. It was the nastiest thing I have seen in a long time. This is a restaurant and you want to have some classiness to greet your customers. She looked like she walked in out of an alley where she works as a hooker. It was that bad. Please put some clothes on. You do not have the body to pull this off and you should not be greeting people with your cat out all over the place. ...all over folk trying to eat! Shame on you management/owners for allowing this sort of trashiness to be in the front greeting your guest. Sisters! We have to do better. Have some respect for yourself. PUT SOME CLOTHES ON! JUST NASTY! The service was mediocre, but friendly. The food was pretty good. I give you one star mainly because we had to look at that nasty woman at the door. I am still mad about it . It afffected me that much! JUST DOWN RIGHT NASTY!
What a great place! Went with the wife on a date. The food was outstanding from appetizer to dessert. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. The live jazz music was terrific and our waitress was very friendly and took good care of us. We can't wait to go back with our friends.
Went to Buttons for Brunch and had a awesome experience. It was less than $20 we person and the omelet station was amazing. A live band was even setting up on our way out.
Definitely will be back again!
Had a reservation and wasn't seated until over an hour after reservation time and quickly made aware of 2 hour limit. Service was absolutely horrible, we literally had to get up ourselves to finally get our own water and tea. Our silverware was brought after getting our food, which took awhile to get as we sat there watching our food get cold. Orders were wrong, salmon was dry, chicken fried steak mostly consisted of batter, fried potatoes had no seasoning. The only upside to this restaurant was the band. I had to step out to the waiting area to get good Internet reception, no big deal. The issue was staff members came out there as well to call I'm assuming the owner of the establishment to talk about some issues they were having. Not something you should do around patrons. This just validated the chaos they were having that night. This was our first and last time dining here. It was a long drive from Dallas to dine with below average service and subpar food.
I drove from Farmer's Branch, TX to try Buttons because my cousin recommended the restaurant. He did not disappoint. The atmosphere was laid back and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and down to earth. The Chef was there making sure everything ran smoothly. The live music was an additional treat to the already delicious food. We will make it a point to stop by Buttons anytime we are within an hours driving distance. It was worth it. His chicken and waffles meal is the best. The shrimp fish n jalapeño grits were great also. Hats off to the Chef and all the cooks and hosts. Great job!
I had the worst experience here last night (4/3/18).
First let me say, I have been here two times prior which were both fine. Nothing special, but good service and unique food.
Me and my boyfriend came here last night, and it took about 5 minutes to be greeted despite an empty dining room. Someone finally emerges from the kitchen area, and tells us they don't have any servers for the dining room, so that we should sit at the bar. Okay - that's fine.
We sit at the bar, and the bartender comes over. Her service wasn't bad, but definitely wasn't good. Our drinks were empty most of the time, and everything seemed slow.
Across the bar from us was an older couple constantly making out and feeling on each other.
In the dining room there was two women, and a man clearly intoxicated. The women were giving the guy lap dances, and making out with each other. It was not a pretty site. The were clearly wasted, and sloppy. They had multiple empty bottles on their table. Usually I'm not bothered by much, but this place appears to be more upscale, and this was just nasty to watch. Eventually the old couple at the bar joins in with them, and starts dancing together. So you have 5 people making out and dancing on each other. It was like watching a low budget porno.
The bartender, and kitchen staff all watched in disgust, but never said anything.. It'd be different if I went to a strip club for the evening.. but I didn't. I went to what I thought was a semi upscale establishment.
The thing that bothered me the most is that when one of the women left, she was falling over her feet, couldn't find her keys, and then struggled to get her door open. She definitely shouldn't have been driving. But this place clearly has no cut off limit for alcohol. That's scary given that weekends they get pretty busy.. how many intoxicated people leave their bar? Dangerous.
Service was lacking, food was below average, and the atmosphere felt like an orgy.. I was truly disgusted at the scene we were eating in. The fact that I spent $50, and had to endure that is truly infuriating. Waste of money.
Buttons has decent food except going on a weekend in the evening is a pain to get seated and a very lengthy wait on Friday Saturday and Sunday due to limited seating and alot of people wanting to see the bands and dine. I believe buttons should expand because ft worth is the only location and everyone has to go to this one location and I believe if it was bigger more people could enjoy the live bands and a better experience for the food. Buttons puts a two hour limit on your seats to eat and then they make you get up to clear the table to seat the next guest waiting to dine, so if your coming to enjoy the live band and eat your going to have to stand for the rest of your time after eating and you two hour limit is up to stay for the band and the place gets REALLY crowded in the evenings especially weekends but other then that I like the food.
Best Chicken and Waffle in town. Always super busy and crowded on the weekends. Even if you have reservations expect to be waiting around. Drinks are pricey. But then again the best chicken and waffle spot. lol
The best soulfood from a restaurant !! If you have not tried this place try it .. My husband got the chicken& waffles, chicken is flavorful and the waffles are fluffy even the syrup has a unique taste. I got the oxtail and rice so good! For an appetizer we got gumbo and wings very delicious.. I will definitely be back. Great atmosphere friendly staff..just an awesome experience..
If Google allowed me to give no starts I would!
They don't believe in refunding !
Make sure your order is correct , and make sure they give you the blueberry butter on the chicken and waffles. It's bland without it. Just like any other place. If you have something that makes you different from everyone else.
If a customer asks repeatedly then it should be given .
Especially paying 20 a plate.
I called numerous times, and the only person who was willing to help me was Brian..
Unforunatley since he's not the manager he couldn't help with what I needed.
I've left messages and employees have taken down messages for the manager.
She has not yet called me back after 1 month of calling .
I had the WORSE EXPERIENCE AT BUTTONS FOR MOTHER'S DAY!!
NO GOOD SERVICE
WASTE OF MY TIME AND MONEY.
NEXT TIME GIVE MY BLUEBERRY BUTTER.
Oh, won't be a next time...
Time for a facelift. They have been open for a while and booths are torn among other visual eyesores. A packing box was leaned against the wall in the dining area. Just didn't seem like much love went into cleaning or visual appeal. Our lunch were nothing special. Fried green tomatoes and brisket tacos were really good.
My friend and I now find this is where we meet up one Sunday a month and enjoy the breakfast buffet and MIMOSAS!!!!! The atmosphere is EVERYTHING!! So grown and classy.
Great southern comfort food! Fried chicken and meatloaf on point! The service was top notch and they made us feel at home, with the manager/co-owner checking in multiple times and even wiping up my water I spilled! Highly recommend and I would def go again but at night to enjoy the music!
There was a little confusion about where to sit (apparently "Reserved" means reserved for the bar) but the food was good (had the chicken and waffles). Curt Jones band was great. Our waitress Brittany was amazing also!
Great food! Great Service! My only complaint is the music is a little loud for lunch, but maybe that's just me. The black eyed peas are the best thing on the menu!
Great service,fast service.
Calm enjoyable environment, and great music even though we missed the live music.
Food smelt good, chicken and waffles are a MUST!! I had the chicken wings they were alright,my husband had chicken and waffles I regretted not getting that.
The wings for me had no flavor. Aunt had oxtails they were THE BOMB!
Mac and cheese was different but good!!
Overall it's a good family place and always nice to see presentable people and service.
Delicious pot roast and raspberry bread pudding. My sweetheart did not like her spinach--her loss, my gain. There were lots of things on the lunchtime menu that I thought were worth trying, but I only brought one belly. Lunch prices were all around $10-$11. Good, friendly service. Overall, an above-average value.
Cozy atmosphere...Friendly down home staff...Waitress Brittany was attentive and courteous. A bit pricey but understandable. Enjoyable night..A diverse crowd. Fortunate enough to enjoy Smooth Jazz and a variety of Soul music of Nick and The Fingerprint Quartet. Amazing!!!
The service was awesome, even when the place wad packed! Great food and really, really good music. I wish some of the seating choices were a bit more plush. But I loved the experience. I will return.
Live jazz Sunday afternoon. Music was great. Tables are packed in. I had to get up to allow others yo pass. Huge crowd (understandable) till after 1pm. Great servers and bartenders. I typically don't like buffets but you can order off menu as well. If you don't mind a little wait ( can be at bar) you need to try if you like good and live music
The 1st visit was Awesome, So we decided to book husbands birthday table for 10 people, on the floor by the band.
When we got there, come to find out our table was not on the floor & the table they gave us was actually a table for 8 & they added 2 more chairs which would have been very hard to eat like that. So we complained about it. They brought another table, which made sitting a bit better. Now the food wasn't even as GOOD as the 1st time, neither was the band!!!
Since we booked the table for 10, they automatically put a 18% gratuity on the check.
I DIDN'T LIKE SECOND VISIT AT ALL, 1st visit was GOOD!!!
Tried for the first time. Greens & sweet potatoes are on point. The chicken on the other hand is bland with no seasoning. For $17.00 it should have been better. After all this a soul food bar. Waiter was nice enough to find me some seasoning so I didn't have to salt my chicken down to get somewhat of a taste. Churches chicken is better than there's.
I wanted to surprise my wife for our wedding anniversary. So I called and not only did I make reservations, but the entire staff was completely helpful with assisting me with having our preferred seating with the flowers already set-up before we got there. My wife had the BIGGEST smile, the rest of the night and I owe part of our glorious celebration to the WHOLE staff at buttons. You guys are the BEST !!!
First time trying this place. It came highly recommended, and did not disappoint. My wife and I ordered the Shrimp, fish (catfish), and jalapeno cheese grits. The fish came with an over easy egg as well. Very delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked and crispy. The egg gave a nice balance to the dish. My dad ordered the oxtails. Very nice portion, and the meat was really tender and juicy. My mom ordered the chicken and waffles. The nice thing is that you can choose white, mixed, or dark meat. The staff was extremely warm and friendly. We will definitely be making a return visit.
Great service by Kayla! The manager was so nice too! The catfish nuggets we're amazing! Great food and a nice variety for the Brunch. We're definitely going back on a Saturday night for music, dancing and oxtails! Also, the live music was fabulous.
Gourmet soul food is what I would call this experience. We had a dish that started with a lawyer of fried potatoes and onions, then a layer of seasoned creamed spinach, topped with a citrus grilled salmon. Folks, it was divine. They have a daily special and live music on certain nights. Waffles and fried chicken is also one of their specialties.
The food was good..but not as seasoned as I would like. We waited an hour and 45 min for our food. The floor manager was very apologetic and took some percentage off our bills. They added $5 per person to our bill for entertainment fees, even if you didn't come to listen to the live band. Although the band sounded good, it was an unexpected cost added to our bill. If you are there at or after 9, expect an additional charge on your food bill.
Visited tonight with a large party. There was only one server for the entire restaurant and he said he was responsible for the sound system too. Orders were placed over two hours ago and several in the party still have no food. Horrible! Where is the mgt staff? This was the first time here for several. They will never recommend this place. My food was cold. This was a terrible experience. We had to get our own water and tea. Disappointing!!!!
Enjoyed the music scene very much. Band that played that night were very entertaining. Relaxing music and great food makes for a nice date night with your significant other. Drinks were good. Servers were attentive and pleasant. Will definitely be back!
Our group was having a good time, paid all our money enjoying our food we were unfortunately told our two hour limit was up what a two hour limit after you pay a $5 fee to hear the band and a 18% gratuity then you ask us to leave wow, Way to Go Buttons!!!! We Will Not Be Back you lost customers for life
