I felt compelled to write something about Saturday nights performance of "A Christmas Carol" I tried to like this event and saw some potential. A late start and a 30 minute Act one then a fifteen minute intermission that lasted more like twenty three minutes then an act two that was about 35 minutes was more a blessing than a disappointment. The dancing, lighting and creative design were interesting however they were mostly on a par with an elementary or middle school performance. The ticket charges were way too much for a "school play" like venue. In the middle of the second act there was a woman in the audience that yelled out "That's my baby girl, up there" . . . "that's my baby"! In my opinion I'm sorry to say, it was an unexpectedly disappointing experience.

The Attucks Theater is a hidden gem if you appreciate historic sites. I've had the privilege of attending a few jazz shows over the years. Musical acts are held in the main theater and upstairs in a venue for a club like feel. I suggest parking across the street to avoid congestion when leaving.

Historical theater that offers great seating. It is a intimate theater so every seat has a great view of the stage on the lower level. If you want to enjoy dinner before your show, the Ghent section of Norfolk is close by. Bring cash and come.early for parking because it is very limited.

I am new here from New York and this was an excellent first theater experience in Norfolk.
The Attucks is steeped in history (which I love). It is sparkling clean and the staff are extremely kind and helpful.
Parking is minimal behind the theater but free, so get to your show early. Additional parking is available close by with a donation in any denomination.
I saw Leslie Jones here. She was part of the line up for the theater's 100 year anniversary (Attucks 100). The sound and lighting was superb. The seating is intimate so you get an excellent view of the stage no matter where you sit. Caution though, the seats felt a bit small so do not carry large pocket books. There is just enough space for you to sit in your chair. Nothing extra!
There is also a bar available so you can sip while you enjoy the show.
Please do visit this magnificent theater.

Nice venue. Viewing the show was awesome. The only issue I found were the rows of seating are too close to those seated in front of you- legs were a bit cramped, and seats are on the small side.

The show was supposed to start at 7p.m. and that did happen. However, once it started I really enjoyed myself. Lalah Hathaway performed and she was all that I expected and more. A really awesome experience. The Attack Theatre is ok and service was good but it's definitely not designed for large people. The seating area is tight, very little legroom.

Oh my goodness gracious gosh golly wow gee. Brian Simpson was superbly awesome. I have seen him several times but at the Attucks Theatre it was better. Balcony seats which didn't make a difference due to the fact that the setting is intimate. I love the theater, everything and everyone was professional. Gave 4 stars because the seating is uncomfortable. I am 5'7" and mostly legs, ac was too cold. Next time I will bring a blanket...not really. But there will be a next time. Check this theater out.

Historical landmark, absolutley amazing. The "Apollo Of The South" is what the Attucks Theater was called back in the day. In the 20's, 30's and 40's big time acts like, Ella Fitzgerald, BB-King and Nat King Cole performed at this venue followed by many other legends. Renovated Attucks kept some of its historical items like the original stage curtain w/ historic art. Looks small on the outside but enormous inside

We enjoyed the show at this beautiful and historic theater. The acoustics are not the best and some seats in the balcony suffer from safety bars obstructing the view but overall it is a well maintained lovely theater. The staff were all kind and helpful. There is a small parking lot behind the theater but the church next door has a large lot with members who were asking for donations for parking, which we were happy to do.
