How would you rate The Rink Chicago?
" The funky feet place" still smells like stank feet from 15 years ago. The facility needs revamping inside out. Um I'm sure its a haven for athlete's feet! Disgusting!!!
Though some what ghetto, if your a east side Chicago resident then Im sure you grew to love this place! Lol
My son broke his wrist there.
Def not ghetto. Mape floors 4 lyfe.
Where I met my Wife. Excellent place to perfect your skills.
Had a great time bcuz DJ DMC is great.
I Love skating here.... Been going here since I was a child
Love this place
The smell hits you as soon as you walk in the door. This place is old and it looks old. Floor is horrible the bathrooms look like out houses. Please dont eat out of the concession area you can smell the old grease and see it all over the walls. Very dirty place someone needs to call the health department fast.
My favorite place to have fun
Decent rink but access is awkward and parking is on gravel.. ;(
Play music , great food and have good prices
I love to skate, I appreciate someone taking the time to operate a roller skating rink. Fitness and fun all in one. Good times
It was nice the kids enjoyed themselves they wished they could have stayed longer but it was over at 3pm
Excellent place to get your roll on!!!!
Smells like Stanky feet foreal
Someone could tell me if this track is school too
The rink is a great place to take kids. Very fun! Music is playing all the time and there's is affordable food available! Just wish that the ice cream machine wasn't always breaking down
The owner needs to retire. Didn't show up for meeting .The female manager is nice. However when she called back to provide venue rental prices she gave me some prices that not even Navy Pier or Mc Cormick place will beat. It was quite obvious she didn't want to rent the venue to me.I had a long conversation with the owner prior to coming all the way out there. He was excited but when i drove over 40 miles he was not there. This place has lots of potential. But needs new management. No wonder the business is suffering.
Not recommend to do business with this place .Sorry
Not bad. Skating rink a bit bumpy, but other than that cool
Best rink in the Chicagolanf area!
Me and my kids love going to the rink
Best skaters in the world. Worst customer service. If classes are listed to start at 9a that typically doesn’t mean the doors are locked until 9a. The lady I spoke too when I attempted to take classes at this business while I was locked out had a terrible attitude and lacked basic customer service skills. It’s really sad. I was in town from Atlanta for the holidays and looked forward to the experience all week. I would rather just watch YouTube videos than actually go to this rink. Smh
Great place, good music, needs to work on floor though
Very outdated roller rink. No effort from owner to make this a clean and nice place for children and families. But, I guess you have to consider the community. I personally believe families in that community deserve better.
Wild crowd teen nite great place to stay fit on the 8's
The Rink is part of my Birth Right been skating for years at this place Love it
I hadn’t been to The Rink in at least 15 years and decided to go one night. I was very disappointed to see that the Rink had not been updated in all those years and is now in horrible conditions. The parking lot, filled with huge potholes, is still gravel and not paved like it should be. Then as I walk in and turn to the lockers, they are the very same ones and are simply deplorable. All the locks have just about been removed, I’m guessing from getting stuck or not locking. Had to call a worker twice just to lock/unlock ours. The carpet is tattered and thoroughly worn down and in need of renewing. Last but certainly not least OMG the Skating floor!!!! What in the world is happening?? I can’t even describe how horrible it has gotten and the fact that it’s still being allowed to be used is beyond me. It’s jagged and uneven all the way around. Forget doing any skate moves on this one end of the floor. You literally have to see it for yourself to see what I’m talking about. But oh I forgot, there was one update in that they added a mini steppers floor in the corner. Come on Rink. Your people, family and friends deserve to skate in a place that reflects a little dignity. I’ve always loved the Rink and have very fond memories as a youngster but the first thing my friend said when we came that day is, “we can’t come here every week.” That made me sad. Please do some remodeling, starting with the major key of skating.... the skate floor.
One of the few roller rinks remaining. It is well supported by the old and new school skaters, however some regular maintenance would really make it to be "The Premiere" skating rink.
Usually have a pretty good time here. Sessions are: really good session adults (grown folks only) Tuesday 10am-2pm, Sunday (grown folks) 5pm-9pm. Both these sessions ARE NOT FOR JB STEPPERS. These sessions are for fast moving GROWN FOLKS. Sunday 9:30pm-1am & Thursday 8 or 9pm is JB SESSION. Also you can play pool, ping-pong and other activities in the back. There's a concession area if you get hungry. No SKATES are issued out for some of the grown folks session that's just how good they roll. SO Call before you come.SKATE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
It is fun...unless you go alone. But only because you are sitting alone. I suggest you go with a friend because then it will be even more fun that it is if you go alone.
I can't understand how the majority of the reviews say that this facility is deplorable and the floor (I've seen pictures) is terrible, and you guys still support this place!! This is for all the die hard, JB skaters. You've shown loyalty by supporting this man's facility for years. Where is HIS loyalty??? The least he can do is provide you guys with a new floor to skate on, it's not like he doesn't have the money!!!
Still has that old school feel and you have to love that. Very nice staff and very kid friendly. Check out the Groupon deals.
Favorite day of the week is Thursday all because of Calvin's JB skating lessons. He is the calmest coolest teacher. Everyone at the Rink is so nice. The floor is a little beat up. But the music and the people very easily make up for that.
I’m 26 years old and I’ve been going to The Rink since I was 10. Back when Friday’s was lit (2000’s), there was no where to park and everyone knew everyone. There is no place like it, now I’m bringing my son and nephews. It’s definitly a family place and I hope it never closes.
The parking is hidden, but it's free and not paved. Other than that, this place is awesome! You can rent skates and can find Groupon deals on it.
It is a great place. I used to come here all the time when I was a kid. Just a little pissed off tonight that they tried to charge me when they knew it was my little cousin's bday party and they were told everyone gets in free.
Needs to be updated from the workers to the holes in the ceiling. The carpet is old and smelly. The bathrooms has a natural stinch and the skates are falling apart. For this place to have been opened for so long and makes a good amount of revenue they need to invest more into the business
I’ve been out of skating almost 20 years and just getting back in the groove of things and wanted to get the Chi experience of skating I remembered from my youth. So I drove 3 hours on Thursday for class and a night of JB music. First of all class had my bones creeking and popping like a .99 cent bag of pork rinds with Pepsi 😂 Class was great and I met some wonderful people. Then the night session got going to grown folk music and JB in full effect. I loved the vibe and the music had me trying moves I knew I wasn’t quite ready to try, but it felt so good. If you’re looking for a Cinderella experience and prissy skating facility, this isn’t for you. However, if you love skating to great music and don’t mind sweating and getting it in, you’ll love Thursday nights like I did. I will make that 3 hour drive again.
First day returning to skating after 10 years the is a nice place.
Tried on three different pairs of skates none had soles the floor is uneven and the place needs a major update! The skate floor needs to be stripped and sanded and evened out I took one lap around the rink and was done
I had a really good time skating tonight me and Tammy G now it's time for bed and work in the morning much love goodnight...
Pretty awesome place on the South-Side. Huge open rink to skate your problems away. I've only been here as an outside service provider, but each time they have had "pre-planned gatherings." To me it also has a disco vibe as you use the two x two skates of yore. The music is very Rappy for the youth and for those over, let's say 45, 60s - 70s'ish.
I enjoyed my time at the rink but they really need to put some money in there to upgrade or close it down for good
One of the best in the city for a long time at least 40years...I Love it
Although I like the nostalgia of the place, I think it's time for a makeover. Cool workers too.
It was a wonderful experience. Come out I love it.
Had a great time with friends. Saturdays are always fun at The Rink 😊😊😊
It's a good place to go skating and enjoy yourself with music.
I love this place! Nice crowd of people. You can hang, play pool, eat and of course skate. The vibe is real chill and fun.
Good Place to go to tohave fun and skates. To good music with DJ SMOOTH on the box
I'd like to give the rink ZERO stars. The floor is horrific. Literally skating on hills and valleys and completely dirty. They won't be getting anymore of my money until they do some serious upgrades.
Fun they were shooting a documentary of HBO UNITED SKATES..
I love the atmosphere and the DJ was on point!! The only negative is the Rink needs to be updated!! The driveway and the parking lot is filled with potholes😫
I really hope the owners invest big money and make it look awesome😀
Great for 30years old and up on Tuesday mornings 10 am to 2 pm and Sunday evening 5pm to 9pm for the grown folks.
Okay parking, great music and food, and very friendly people
Good vibes, brings back childhood memories but the door definitely needs to be redone. Didn't particularly like the DJ either. He talked entirely too much and didn't play enough "classic" skate music. Also he careful when parking, they have like 300 pot holes!
I love this place best place to go to for a birthday
Sylvia and Dorothy were just here and did an excellent job! They were so professional and so nice! Ian so glad I found them. This was the first time I...read this and 9 more
