How would you rate Sweet Maple Cafe?
This is a great breakfast place in University Village. It can get quite crowded, though, and there isn't a lot of space to wait. I would recommend coming in early/late or expect to wait. Last time I was there I got the Sweet Maple-Opolis omelet, it was delicious. We usually get some kind of pancakes to share at the table, last time I think they had sweet potato or pumpkin...delicious!
Food is fantastic. Everything tastes like it was an old family recipe that couldn't be kept quiet any longer and had to be shared with the world. Biscuits are worth their weight in gold.
Dining area is small so the line to get in can be long. Get there early if you can, if not, it's still worth the wait.
Hands down the best breakfast in Chicago.
I recently asked my girlfriend to marry me, while the sun rose over the city skyline. In preparation for this huge event, I called Sweet Maple and asked if they could prepare a very special breakfast for me. Without any hesitation, their staff went out of their way to prepare for us. At 7am, our table was ready with a white table cloth (normally their tables have burgundy table cloths), a reserved sign and beautiful red roses. They also prepared a special breakfast, including heart shaped pancakes and heart shaped biscuits. It was such a beautiful set up that my fiancé started to tear up when she sat down at the table. Food was delicious. Service was amazing. THANK YOU SWEET MAPLE!
Honestly the best breakfast I've even had. I had the protein power scramble with cheddar cheese. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I got the home fries with bacon and cheddar on top which were excellent. Even the white toast was awesome and obviously freshly made. All around great place. Had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. Definitely get there early because shortly after we were seated the line about doubles in size.
It was really good. The fries were amazing. Good place to have breakfast
So excited to try Sweet Maple based on so many great reviews. Coffee was terrific and service was attentive and friendly. The hostess did a terrific job managing the many folks waiting on a cold and snowy morning. The multigrain toast was tasty. Unfortunately the rest of the breakfast was really disappointing-potato dishes were likely made from frozen cubes and were over-salted; corned beef was strongly flavored with Worcestershire amid the potato cubes; "special" salmon cakes were almost gray inside and did not resemble any salmon I've ever seen. Poached edges were cooked close to hard, not the medium the wait person confirmed when she took our order. Really wanted to love this place-decided we will not go back.
While out with the hubby I googled breakfast locations in the area and Sweet Maple cafe came up with rave reviews. Once we got there it was a long line, and we thought this must good.there was an elder couple with out of towner, whom they wanted to share this country cuisine with. My husband got the liver with onions, delic.I had pancakes and an omelette, also good. would have given four stars, but the quarters are so tight, And waiting is no fun.
I love this place!! Great French Tost, Pancakes are amazing, as well as for the scrambles. The food there is the best! Absolutely one of the best breakfast in town!
If you love biscuits then you have to try this place! Eating those amazing little clouds of bread and butter made wonder how many biscuits they actually make on a Saturday morning.
There's a cool little southern feel to place and the servers are beyond excellent. You sometimes have to wait but it goes fast and it's totally worth it. They have good egg sandwiches!
I wish this place would expand - the food is so delicious but the wait really makes it tough to stick it out. I'm not a pancake girl but these were the perfect cakes - and the butter and syrup come in a little plastic cup. I also liked the cheese and egg sandwich - the biscuit was very different almost corn-bready.
Absolutely amazing. We had 5 different items on the menu and all of them rocked. Possibly one of the best breakfast places I have ever eaten at.
Ambiance and food looked great. To bad I didn't get to enjoy it. I was with a group of 3. Several groups of 2, who arrived after were sat ahead of us. That's understandable even though some of the tables were right next to each other. Then a group of 3 got up and I was sure we were about to be seated. I was wrong a group of 5 with there names on the list after ours was seated. We continued to wait. I was 100% sure we would be seated next. Well I was wrong again. Another group of 3 was seated ahead of us. When we questioned why they were seated before us they said "we normally don't make reservations, but they had reservations."
We left. First time I ever walked out on a restaurant. Very very truly dissapointing experience.
Sunrise omelette was so good! Also ask for sausage and gravy with your biscuit!
Actually wasn't busy at all when I dined. Superior surprised. Great food, comfy space and great service. Make this a place to check out if ever in the area! Major Chicago statement
The food I'll give 5 stars but the waiters and vibe is just really poor, I asked for the corner table by the back and they wouldn't give us the table simply because they said its for party's of 6 or more. I didn't mind till 3 white people came in and they rite away sat them at that table I had asked for. Then every time I asked for coffee or something we needed they would take so long to get it, idk was it because we look Mexican but I sure didn't like the way they attended us. Even tho the waiter was Hispanic too. Btw it was around 1:00, which is around closing time and they still dragged to attend us. First and last time I'll be going here, rather go to I hop then to be treated as an outsider.
As we were waiting for a table, a lady who had just eaten there came out and said it was one of the best breakfasts she ever had. Such a ringing endorsement! And I must say she is correct!
I went with my lady friend and we split the Sweet Maple-Opolis omelette and the cinnamon roll pancakes. We each had a side of cheese grits. ALL of it was pretty amazing! The pancakes were the perfect amount of sweetness with that wonderful cinnamon flavor. The omelette was cooked perfectly with fresh ingredients. It was great!
1 star for customer service. My family and I had the same waitress for both of our visits. The first visit was in February and the 2nd and final visit was on weds November 25,2015. On our first visit it was only my husband and I and the waitress was really rude and rushed us through our lunch. So I gave the place a 2nd chance thinking maybe the waitress was just having a bad day. This last visit was for my sisters birthday and it was ruined by this same waitress. She was rude and asked us to leave because my sister was taking too long to order so we left. We took long to sit because my mother is physically disabled and walks with a cane due to Gillian bare syndrome so the waitress was already upset with us. I just want to share my experience because it happened twice and I'm shocked this waitress is still employed there.
Great hidden gem of the neighborhood! You'll likely have to wait for a table but it's totally worth it! Really good breakfast food.
Go - go early and go often. The only bad thing is that there is never enough seating. So there is normally a line and it does go fast but it is worth it so just relax. If it is cold have only one person wait - leave everyone else in a warm car. The food however is delicious. Pancakes - eggs - french toast - it is all worth trying. The staff is friendly and they know what they are doing. I am not a big fan of going on the weekend cause I do feel rushed - but weekday treat is the way to go.
Plates are big and food has an incredible southern with a hint of mex mixed in. Seating is limited not advisable for big parties u less u come early! Table for 2 no wait at all!
Incredible hot chocolate and the biscuit with their homemade maple syrup are notable. The omlettes with potatoes and onions are well done as well.
Plenty of free parking. Food was hot and fast. Nice portion size. Sweet, friendly staff. Only negative things about this place was there was only one toilet! Besides that, quick, inexpensive, cozy spot.
Great cozy restaurant in Little Italy. We stumbled across this place the first time we went, not knowing what to expect. The food and the hot chocolate are absolutely delicious!
Really great restaurant with homemade everything! The biscuits are a must. The ambiance is great, you feel as if you are eating at your own home... and the food is just as good or even better!
Awesome food and never had bad service. Usually crowded on the weekends but it's worth the wait.
I like the south atmosphere, south style, big line and you must have the south patient. Music jazzy make better experience. Good menu and just need a little bit more of taste to the food and coffee. Staff nice.
Great place for breakfast/brunch. Relaxed classic diner vibe. Well known among UIC students as one of the best places on Taylor. I had the French toast, which was delicious.
This place is amazing. In general, I'd say you should prepare to wait for a table. We try to go on weekdays. Weekends are insane and there's not a lot of room to wait inside, so in winter, good luck.
The food is incredible, though.
Great food, Great service. Staff so pleasant. Doesn't get any better than that!
Old diner style with tasty food in big portions with reasonable prices. The biscuits are gigantic
Parking was easy, across the street in a parking lot for free or on the street with a meter. The wait was a tad bit long but with popularity I was surprised we didn't wait longer that the 10-15 mins that we did. No place to sit but someone must wait in line to not lose a spot, (or from what we assumed) got seated. Attended to quickly and served in a timely manner. The food was delish and the service great! The only thing that made me slightly uncomfortable is the upkeep of the restaurant. It use some love and maybe a refresher, and I'm sure the kitchen would need some loving too but I would come again when I'm in town. Food and service straight 5 stars, no place to wait & the image is why I gave this place a 4(I would have done 4.5 if possible)
Neighborhood staple. Great pancakes & scrambles. I've never had a bad meal here.
You have to order at least one pancake when you pop in.
Great food in the area but the long wait is a bit of a downer.
The food tastes great. Through if you go on the weekends you will wait a long time. The restaurant is small.
Always worth the wait. This place has excellent food, very friendly staff, and a diverse crowd.
Food is excellent, the service is a long wait ,plan for a good 25-40 minutes to wait and eat
Small menu, doesn't have waffles. Very small dining area. It seems like a converted apartment building.
Best southern style breakfast food in all of Chicagoland. Responsible price and big portions, a must is the buttermilk biscuits
Wonderful food. Try the biscuits. Very friendly service. 20s jazz playing with an older rustic feel. Just a really enjoyable breakfast joint.
The food was good but I paid $23 for three pancakes. I Kidd you not.
We got there on a day when the wait wasn't too long & when it wasn't too packed - thankfully, because this place is TINY! Too small for the amount of traffic. The french toast was good, but I was expecting a little more something...fruit garnish or something. The egg potato dish my friend had looked amazing. Pancakes were huge and okay, but I like a lighter (in color and texture) cake personally. Free parking in the lot across the street but ONLY UNTIL 3PM - enter through alley behind the bbq place.
Great service, delicious food and larger portions than I was ready for! It was the first meal we had on our visit to Chicago and it set the tone for an awesome weekend.
Generous food portions. Charming decor. Busy for lunch.
Great breakfast spot, portion sizes match the price! It is my wife's annual mother's day breakfast
My 1st time there and it was the best breakfast place I've ever been to. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the location is pretty far from my home. Best coffee by Seattle Best and homemade country southern food from scratch. The place is small with limited seating but I'm going to say that's it's worth the wait. Decor is similar to an old country place.
Soooo....initially I thought the service might be a lil suspect as our waitress must have thought we knew all about the place....but I was wrong. She was great, attentive, pleasant...the food was Terrific...the right proportion of ingredients in the omelette, SALSA was on point and the grits were the right consistency. I NEVER GIVE 5 STARS!
Absolutely wonderful place. I love restaurants that specialize in breakfast. This is one of the best in the city!
This place can be too crowded, but UIC was on summer break, and we went at lunch time and didn't have to wait. Very good food. We had a baby with us, and they were accomodating of that. Found parking on the street, but be sure you pay up as they will ticket cars in a minute in this location.
Arguably one of my favourite breakfast places in the city. The grits never let me down and I could live on their biscuits and the coffee is actually good! There's usually a wait if you go on the weekend or a holiday, but it's worth it, and they have seats set up outside, so once you put your name on the list go hang out with your group on the sidewalk!
Used to frequent here 15+ years ago, and made it a must see when we visited recently. So glad that the place hasn't changed- atmosphere is still cozy, biscuits are still flaky, and potatoes are still the best. Love this place- don't change!
Hole in the wall, all day breakfast joint. Good variety, freshly made to order, not at all greasy. Homefries full of fresh herbs and tasty.
The food is superb. However, we were seated after two other parties of the same size who arrived after us. What turned this experience from average to poor was that we received to apology either. Once again, good food just poor organization.
breakfast options are just amazing..!! do plan in before coming on a Sunday morning as the wait period ranges from a good 30 to 45 minutes...!! the earlier u are the better u are..!!
Great breakfast food. Definitely worth the wait in line. They really try to get you in quickly.
Go early on weekends as this place has limited seating and be prepared to be patient. The food is worth the wait!
Excellent French Toast! The home fries will definitely not disappoint. The pancakes were delicious.
There is a small caveat, you can't split checks and can only pay via one card per table.
I finally got to try this place and I'm kicking myself for not making it sooner, it easily one of my new favorite breakfast places now! Everything was so so good! I ordered the French Toast and it totally hit the spot, the sausage was perfect with the side of eggs I also ordered. I got a sample of the biscuit from my bf and it was perfect. I wish I has also tried their Cinnamon roll pancakes so I will be back there again soon enough!!
Great food and friendly service. The biscuits are really amazing and the cheese grits were a delightful surprise. We all had different omelets and each was really good!
This was my first time here and I really love the atmosphere, I was created immediately and served within 10 minutes mind you it's a Thursday morning so maybe the traffic is heavy on the weekend. But my food was hot and delicious, so I'm happy!
Wonderful food, and consistently great service. Best biscuits and pancakes in the city, if not ever
This place is very homey, has a really local, homemade feel. It seems dingy, but in a charming way. Definitely get the biscuits. They're huge and amazing. Quick service, very friendly, small and cozy, and a good selection for everybody. Minimum amount required for a credit card payment, so if you're going alone, plan to order something big.
Foods great but very small and very busy. Staff is always friendly. Only thing is there hours. They close everyday at 2pm. They stop seating at 1:30pm sharp I would advise to get there before 1:30 to be sure you get seated. The salmon cakes and home fries are delicious.
I dream of running as smooth a ship as this place! Service is great. I love the space! Get the corned beef hash! Truly homemade and delicious!
Great little place, awesome food, great atmosphere. The cinnamon roll pancakes are amazing. The coffee is delicious, drink it black trust me.
Pricey for breakfast food but everything was delish and hot. Service was professional but impersonal. Expansive menu offering. Loved the potatoes served with my scrambled eggs and sausage. Biscuit was large and tasty. Be prepared for a wait. Very popular place.
Always crowded and beware, they close at 2 pm. We had a coffee, a hot choc and muffins. Berry muffin was great, lemon muffin -just okay. The drinks were nice.
So cute and DELICIOUS! Everything we had was good! But the cinnamon roll pancake was unbelievable! I can't stop thinking about it!
Good food, good service, good location, good prices!
Love Love Love this place.. Came here with a friend... And everything was amazing... I forgot how much I loved this place.. Definitely worth every cent.
We had an awesome breakfast with my wife.
She ordered a muffin and fresh fruits and both of them were nice : the muffin was tasty and sweet and fresh fruits were ripe.
I had scrambled eggs with spinach ham cheddar with order side of grits and some toasts.
Everything was absolutely perfect and the service was also very friendly.
For sure we'll come back and I think I'll try the homemade pancakes which look yummy.
You definitively want to go there!
Delicious food. Active staff keeps this place going! It's a popular, on demand spot so please eat your meal, enjoy your time, and please be courteous of other guests who may be waiting for a table. I will be back. A welcoming, cozy spot.
My friend Nora mentioned this place was one of her favorite breakfast spots! It's a cute, small spot. Great service! Dana was our waitress and she was amazing! The food was delicious and so was my cafe latte. I definitely recommend this spot for breakfast. The biscuit is fire btw, get it instead of toast.
Wonderful food. Great service too. The atmosphere is very cozy, warm and comfortable. The staff makes you feel right at home.
Didn't like it much. Too crowded but good price. My only problem is that they were so busy that they undercooked my pancakes. Brought me a warm cup of coffee. Only tap water. And I feel like I wasted money on food that was supposed to be an enjoyable experience since I finally had my alone time.
A small place on Taylor street. You get a lot of food here. Different options. Their biscuit is pretty big. They are knew for their pancakes and french toast. Weekends only, they have pork chops which was surprisingly good. Overall good experience. They close at 2pm
This establishment is great! The food and service are wonderful. I go here often and leave just as happy each time.
Home style breakfast, nothing too crazy or out of the ordinary. If you want classic comforting breakfast this is the place to be.
I want to give a shout out to our server Taylor tho! When we mentioned that we were from out of town she gave us a bunch of recommendations as to what we should do in Chicago and it made our night super special :).
We visited on a Saturday morning and there was a bit of a wait. However, it was well worth the wait. Absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant. Do not leave without trying the biscuits and potatoes. Yummy!
overall pretty good. I did a create your own omelet and it was cooked well. good amount of food for the price. this restaurant is definitely affordable! kitsy feel to the place. I took one star away due to service being a little slow and it's sort of disorganized at the front door. they should have a please seat yourself sign. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if you're in the neighborhood and you are looking for a cheap quality meal I would recommend it.
I got a mocha, orange scone, and breakfast sandwich. I ate there so the mocha came in a really beautiful mug. The scone was perfect. The sandwich was excellent. Altogether a little expensive around $15 but I splurged. I'd never been before and heard of this location's legacy. It seems to be living up to it.
I've been coming here since it opened. It's hands-down one of my favorite breakfast spots on this planet. The food never disappoints, but it's the atmosphere that makes it a feel-good experience every time. At peak times, you will have a wait...but stick around, it's well worth it.
Good coffee. Food was decent. Be prepared to wait on the weekends. Your entire party must be present to get seated. You also can't split checks.
Good breakfast, biscuits taste homemade from scratch, like my grandma used to make. Good service. Just make sure to be prepared, as there is no splitting checks/separate at the table. Our friends were over an hour late to breakfast, so this caused a little confusion when we got ready to pay. Will bring cash next time. And we will definitely be back.
Love their homemade biscuits. I had the corn beef and eggs. Corn beef was fresh and cut in cubes- great breakfast joint. Attentive service. Street parking only and open till 2pm.
Very Cozy...Good food! Large portions! Pancakes the size of plates! Upon ordering... the food took maybe 8 minutes to arrive to our table, No waiting around forever like at a Big chain. This is my new favorite breakfast place!
The place is small and has no real waiting space. I was eating and people were standing right over me. The food isn't worth the price and I don't really get a bang for your buck. The setting is cozy and vintage which is cute for a brunch place and the workers are nice. My overall experience is I probably won't go back.
if you find yourself in the Chicago, this is one of the best places for a light breakfast or a quick lunch. They have great coffee and good breakfast sandwiches the price is right and the service is very good. I like the place because it's quiet and people are friendly.
Delightful charming place that is small and quaint. Food is good and the serving size is adequate. Get the bacon, they bring you plenty with an order. If you like pancakes i highly recommend the banana. The pancakes are light and delicious. This is a must go place! Again it is small so there may be wait but it is worth it.
Delicious food, cozy environment. The wait staff is attentive and experienced. The manager, Carolina, visits every table to be sure that you are enjoying every bite. Overall, a "Sweet" breakfast/lunch spot. Big thumbs up!
I'm a Southern girl and this is one of the few places I've found in the city that makes breakfast like back home. Best grits, biscuits and gravy, and pancakes worth ordering. Friendly staff and great neighborhood. Worth a visit.
Highly offended by the Management Staff on the day that I visited with my daughter. Had not seen her for 6 months, go to local establishment where she grew up (support the community), told there was a line at the door and how long we had been there.
1 I tip for the time I sit.
2 Our bill was $30 and my tip was 100%
3 The server was so nice and understood. She told us to take our time and it was not a big deal.
4 Food was reasonable and very good.
5 Management is not the owner and I do hope that the owner reads this review.
I would return but this made me upset.
A timeless establishment that provides great quality breakfast and service. I'm a fan of their sweet items on their menu, and the biscuits are always on point. The line waiting times can be daunting, but going during off-peak hours helps avoid the wait. The ambience is cozy, and a pleasant difference from the rest of Taylor Street!
On multiple occasions we had food taken away from us while we were still consuming. Our entire dining experience was 40 minutes, including being seated and ordering, so we were not lingering such that this was even remotely appropriate.
The food was good overall. Biscuits and gravy were worthwhile; avoid the corned beef.
I love breakfast at sweet maple cafe. My hubby loves it even more! Biscuits are so soft they melt in your mouth. Antique feel......be prepared to wait a long time on weekends. Theres never an empty table here. We always leave here feeling happy :)
Sweet maples is always a pleasant experience. The food, staff, environment have all of the right vibes.
Usually gets a crowd so expect a small wait if going during peak hours. The wait is well worth it. I suggest grabbing their specials when available. The porkchops are plenty tasty and covered in delicious onions. Make sure to grab a side of gravy for your biscuit!
Awesome little restaurant! First time here and got their pancake special. Lots of food for what you pay. Definitely a great value! Highly recommend stopping by!
They turn a table so quickly here, we had a party of 5 and a very short wait for a Sunday morning. The staff were incredibly kind and the meal was prompt and delicious. Also the restrooms were super clean which was nice. Street parking was free on Sunday and we found a spot across the street! The potatoes are very delicious, the coffee is great and flowing! Definitely a great stop in the city.
If you're looking for some awesome pancakes and a tasty omelette, Sweet Maples is the place for you. Expect to wait anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour for a table. Although the cafe is tiny in size, the food is BIG in taste. Nice friendly vibes and conversation in this place. And yes, they have GREAT COFFEE!!
Biscuits and gravy are a must. Hands down the best biscuits and gravy ever. Everything else is obviously amazing. Friendly, promt service. Sometimes can be a wait depending on the day . The earlier you get there the better. Very cozy place. Feels homey/familiar in a good way
Cozy neighborhood cafe. Delicious homemade biscuits yummy menu with specials. I had the chicken biscuit breakfast sandwich and a piece of French toast. Loved both. At our table we also had the protein scramble which I was told will become the usual; and the cinnamon roll pancakes. I got to try them and I would definitely order for dessert ;) Thanks Sweet Maple! From Indiana!
american food at this location - very tasty. I wanted to post a food pic but it looked so good I couldn't stop. I've had nothing but great experiences here and will keep coming back. The place has an awesome feel to it.
Cute little breakfast place. The food was prepared quickly and was quite delicious. The staff was friendly, and our particular server was awesome. Unfortunately, it's a very small place, with limited tables. We went on a Friday at 11:45am and had to wait awhile to be seated, due to all the tables being in use. I will definitely not go here during the weekend, as I'm guessing the wait is ridiculously long.
Great service but the food wasn't worth the drive from Evanston. My family and I wanted to try a new restaurant for breakfast and they had great reviews. Everyone in my party ordered something different to sample a little of everything and we were not overly pleased with any of the items especially the pancakes which I had high hopes for. Overall I wasn't satisfied with the food but the service made up for it.
This place was amazing. The coffee was great, it was not too strong like most places. The eggs were great and the bacon was cooked to perfection. It was a looottt of food. The biscuit had a bit of a sweet taste to it which was kind of cool.
The food is superb. Good prices and excellent service. Not very crowded and fast attention.
I was introduced to Sweet Maple Cafe a couple of years ago by my Brother. He and his business partners make this a meeting place each week.. I love their food and the atmosphere. This truly a well round restaurant for all ages and sizes. Family is popular here.
The food itself was pretty good! They have amazing waffles! The traditional bacon and eggs are good too. This place is BYOB. Their specials are pretty on point as well. You will have to wait some time for your food and service in general is pretty sporadic from the wait staff. If you're able to do the wait, try it out atleast once.
Friendly and efficient service make this neighborhood gem a real find! Portions are hefty and all of the rich flavors indicate that this is not your ordinary breakfast food. Jackson was an awesome server and helped us navigate the expansive menu. We arrived at a few faves that we cant wait to try again. Street parking can be a challenge but not unusable. The wait wasn't terrible and certainly was well worth it! Highly recommend!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Went for breakfast before flying out of Chicago. It had a very homey feel to it, with the staff chatting with customers who I assumed were regulars. I ordered cinnamon pancakes, which were very sweet and rich. Their coffee was VERY good. Service was slow because the staff talked so much to customers, but like I said, it added to the atmosphere. Don’t go if you want to get in and out quickly.
There was a little wait outside, but it was a beautiful morning and well worth it. The waitress was very courteous and attentive. The food was excellent! The lady who sat next to us was complimenting the pancakes over and over, saying they are the best she has ever had. I ordered a dish that was named something in Spanish. It was eggs mixed with chicken with hash browns. Highly recommended.
Today was my very first time having breakfast at this location. The service staff are so polite, welcoming, and diplomatic. The restaurant is rather small but has a cozy and homely atmosphere. However, I agree that they are a bit pricey when it comes to breakfast. I had 2- eggs scrambled fluffy, a biscuit, bacon and cheesy grits. By the way, I had an iced tea as a beverage. My bill was slightly over $19.00. Thereafter, I tacked on a $5 tip. All in total $24 for a very average breakfast. The eggs were prepared perfectly and the bacon was crispy just the way I like it. The cheesy grits wasn't anything to brag about, although it was a $1.25 up charge for the selection. Lastly, the biscuits are shaped into a square and very dense. I am accustom to much lighter and fluffier texture when it comes to home made. I will give this location a second chance but I will perhaps ask for home fries and English muffins next time.
Food was really good. I don't know that I've had leftovers from breakfast before, but it happened today. Very important to know before you go... THERE IS NO SPLITTING OF CHECKS AND NO MULTIPLE CARDS CAN BE USED FOR PAYMENT OF THE SINGLE CHECK. So if you go with a large party, or even just two of you, one person is going to need to be able to pay, OR everybody should bring cash.
Coffee is good. French toast is REALLY good.
The food was excellent! The lady who sat next to us was complimenting the pancakes over and over, saying they are the best she has ever had.Today was my very first time having breakfast at this location. The service staff are so polite, welcoming, and diplomatic.
A nice little home style joint for breakfast. At 730 in the morning. It was buzzing - with people; and warmth of the hostess. Good food. Great vibes.
There's a couple of things Americans have just figured out completely when it comes to breakfast, and Sweet Maple Cafe brings it all together. Families and friends join each other for breakfast, making it feel like a local living room. The menu is full of comfort food options, the coffee is great and staff is quick and charming. Highlight: a side of biscuits and gravy. Breakfast kept me going for hours!
Always one of my favorite spots to eat breakfast when I can get in that area! It feels so homely. Great customer service! Excellent food!
My wife, her brother, sister and I chose to have breakfast and we opted for this place.
First of all, the customer service was good. We didn’t have to stand for long before we got a table and almost immediately we were attended to with coffee while we made our orders. Second of all, This place would need few touches to give it more appealing ambience but asides that the meal was nice. 👍🏾
I go here a lot. Food is good and so is the customer service. Only thing I would change is there hours but I understand why they close early and that’s due to being a morning place. Place has a really homey feel to it and even when packed it’s still a chill environment.
This morning I left the house in comfortable clothes, they were one step above rags. My sister did the same. We walked in and were greeted with smiling faces despite our appearance. The place was packed. Only one table was open and it was the perfect table. We have never eaten there before so we needed a minute too look at the menu. Upon sitting we were given water and offered coffee. The coffee was delicious. They never let the cup go empty eventhough they were busy. We ordered and the food was fast and amazing. I think it was the Dr. Glenn scramble, I opted for the grits and muffin included. It wasn't very expensive for the portion and it was all incredibly delicious. The restaurant was staffed by what seems to be the best crew. I would definitely go back.
This was my first time visiting this establishment. I had the breakfast, is was really good. The pancakes had a different favor to them. The maple syrup was delicious. It was not your everyday store brand. I spoke was the owner, she told me that she has been at that location for 20 years, and that she orders the syrup from Vermont every 2 weeks. Then I understood why it was fifty cent for extra syrup. The servings were a good size for the price and I eat half of my pancakes, so I didn't need anymore syrup. But they did taste better with the Vermont syrup than with my Mrs. Butterworth. 😆
I will go there again.
Small diner, nice atmosphere. Food was great. My daughter had the banana pancakes. The bananas was inside. Very tasty. My omelet was made with fresh crisp veggies and tasty cheeses. I will visit more.
Good breakfast place all around. Potatoes and pancakes were good, coffee had decent flavor as well however I was not impressed with my chicken, it was not tender at all. Overall, good first impression, polite service.
Yummy delicious! We stopped here on our way out of Chicago and I'm so glad we did. I ordered the corned beef hash, my wife ordered the French Toast and my...read this and 706 more
