How would you rate Hyde Park Hair Salon & Barber?
Terrible service, terrible haircut. I came in asking for a general trim, was sat down, and then ignored for 15 minutes while my haircutter chatted up his coworkers and sorted money. After 40 minutes, only one of my sides had been cut. The guy spent 5 minutes trimming one side of my hair and 15 making sure the back was perfect.
Anyways, wouldn't go back there again. Dude doesn't know how to cut hair or treat his customer right.
The Best. Zariff is Barber to President Obama.
Best cut and price in Hyde Park by far, if you want a consistently good cut without price gouging this is the spot. The other spots are like playing Roulette, odds are definitely not in your favor.
Great shop barbers by appointment only in and out service 30-45 mins for a premium cut
This barber shop reflects a very diverse Hyde Park area. The service is top notch, the decor is modern and clean, and the people are very friendly. Tone is my barber and is organized and thoughtful with booking appointments. I use to have a barber that if you agreed to 1pm appointment that means you may not get seen til 3pm, NO Thanks time is too important...
I dropped into this barber shop to see the chair that President Barack Obama got his regular haircuts. It is encased in plastic in the front part of the barber shop. There are photos of Barack Obama at the foot of the chair. The barbers are friendly especially A.C. I loved seeing this local history on display in a Chicago Hyde Park business. One of the men in the barber took photos of me next to Barack Obama's barber chair. Pretty cool place to visit, it's like a working museum.
I'm a white guy, I had my hair cut here by Leah. It was a successful cut,, I'll be back.
The barbers are great, conversation great. Good place to relax and kill some times on weekends and meet some great folks. Love the Sunday sports viewings! Pretty cool place too. The Obama chair is encased in Glass by R.S Owens as Obama has been coming there for years! I've seen Kevin hart, Rick fox, HBO, Promo teams, every newscaster, even Suge Knight...pretty much everyone! This is an interesting place with so much history.
Sat and waited for a barber to finish eating for 45 minutes, then when he finished he sat in the chair and started watching a movie like we were nothing. Totally ignored us. Worse service ever!
Shamelessly bad customer service.
Today June. 4,2016 I entered this shop because I felt it would be a great experience seeing what area it was in. Was I totally wrong, as I'm seated waiting for a hair cut a young man was seated in the barber chair getting his design cut in his head. I noticed that the barber was making fun of this young man. His exact words was "DON'T ASK DON'T TELL" . Now being taught and educated on that area of history we all know what that meant. His sexuality has nothing to do with him being here getting serviced. It was rude and also wrong. He know exactly who he is. I couldn't stand that at all so I kindly walked out of the shop and went elsewhere. TheY portray that this shop has great service because OBAMA stops in from time to time. 😳 Who cares!!!!! It's one thing to actually have great service versus publicity to be known. I won't ever go anywhere where any citizen is being critized not only publicly but also to the other employees that's there. This shop has people working there that needs to be reorganized and get real people who don't make fun of customers who is paying their hard worked money!!!! Their Wrong and I'm going to continue to feel this way. I would never return. And I applaud any gay male that is not ashamed of his preference. May god be with those individuals who thought it was funny "THE STAFF" GOOD LUCK HPHS
Nothing special just a normal spot like any other place. Plenty of the same type of shop all over Hyde park. Packed and limited hair styles they can do. Once waited an hour then left. No worries plenty of other shops all in walking distance, some even better with more hair designs to choose from. Hyde Park is full of great barbers you wont have trouble finding a place.
Just dropped in to this shop today and I must say the gentleman were very welcoming a great vibe to this place great conversation as well as a good quality cut I am not sure of the name of the brother who cut my hair but he was very down to earth recommended some restaurants in the area as well as supporting brothers and sisters trying to start their own business just want to say thank you and bless you brothers I will definitely be back.
Recently moved to HP. This shop is conveniently located off 53rd. Excellent service from the barber who cut my hair, Ojo.
I'm rating you people 5 stars for encouragement to stay motivition. but as far as other shops. Like the one that used to be on 59th and normal Shawn's Chop Shop that is a disgrace to the family incest beastiality child molesting racist in their own culture stupid retarded living off the SSI children check or they momma that had Section 8 for over 10 years doing therapeutic recovery just to get a house face head ass living in foreclosure houses no licence goofy ass only like homosexuals if they have a sexually transmitted disease so disrespectful though it's wrong God said still not to judge only mess with Hispanics that don't have high school diplomas and cannot barely read fill the mind of a fat desperate Lonely women in her most vulnerable time always copying off somebody else original never experiencing anything on their own always will be the bottom of scavenger nasty STD have an ass shop and also set up the women in the family and that's they friends like prostitutes everywhere Chicago to different states throughout the United States watch out for the rest of the family because they are dirty and nasty Beyond party line and websites going around trying to get people uncurable STDs thank God they didn't catch me messing up a family from generation to generation that their mom and other relative is out here sad as hell urinating and pooping everywhere on the floor in public areas sick and mental ass The females that they know look to transsexual and genders for advice and they was born as females sad case of people PS watch out for these people because they believed where they can have with men that have sex with that's not fair to the people that do believe in homosexuality and that is just so low and desperate
Typical barber shop, "man's land" lol. Interesting characters and people. Essex is my son's barber, and he does my eyebrows. He always does a FANTASTIC JOB! I love this place😍
1. When I made the reservation, I asked if the price include hair washing. They said yes. But after getting hair cut, they said I need to pay $5 more for washing hair. That's too expensive.
2. After washing my hair, they don't have a hairdryer.
3. The hairdresser could not make my hairstyle symmetric, even I asked him to modify several times.
4. When I asked the hairdresser to modify my hair, he didn't make me wear the gown tight. So much hair dropped on my clothes, in my collar.
5. When the hairdresser cut my hair, he turned my swivel chair once and once again to cut the different areas of my hair, making me very dizzy. But he didn't move any longer.
The most terrible haircut I have ever been all over the world. I really can't understand why so many people give this kind of store a five-star review. I highly doubt the truthfulness of these reviews.
My man Supah us the best. Barber and Loctician all in one.
There's only one barber i will do future business with in this spot.
Unfortunately I had to work with another barber here and unfortunately he had a problem with symmetry and paid little attention to detail.
When i brought the errors to his attention the next day he expected me to wait until after he took on another client.
What? Fixing your error should take priority over sitting another client and disrespecting my time. I was forced to make the corrections myself. Not cool, not ok
I walked in the front door and nothing was said to me. I stood around waiting for someone to acknowledge my presents... nothing. I sat around waiting to be serviced while other people cam in and got their hair cut. When they were done cutting other peoples hair they sat back watching godfather, eating pasta with Alfredo. I am still here waiting, it is 15 minutes til closing time, ive been here for 2 hours. This is undortunate... and now one of them is yelling at the TV
Not the best some of my cuts were messed up and today the barber was 2 hours late terrible hopefully my last time
I am new to town and looking for a new barber when I came across this place. I called them up and explained my situation and what I was looking for in a haircut and they said they would take care of me. They weren't kidding. My appointment was with AC and from the moment I walked in to the moment I left, I was treated like family. I love my haircut and I will be religiously getting my hair cut from AC from now on.
THE Best. Appointments recommended. Ask for Dre, he may be booked for a walk-in, but he's worth scheduling an appointment with.
Tony is the best barber but all the guys are good if tony is not there ask for buddy
Nice shop with amazing customer service!
The environment is super awesome, the barbers are friendly and skilled and their prices are competitive.
Great service Marcus always trims me up right.
I’ve been going to this shop for 25 years. I now bring my son here to get cut and nothing has changed. Great staff and great location. I’ll be coming here for another 25 years!
Very nice friendly staff my son has autism and they are very nice
Zariff! Awesome for a long time.
I have heard that they do really good cuts and it seems like it very popular
This is a great place for haircut, they did a great job cutting my hair. But the price was more expensive than expected. It costed me $30. If you don't mind the price it is gonna worth it.
I got a haircut here this afternoon. I haven't been to a barber shop in YEARS because I usually just shave all my hair off all strong my head lol. But I...read this and 32 more
