The hotel is very nice but the location was not convenient for us at all. The rooms were clean, the hotel in general was clean and the staff was very friendly. The free parking in their lot was amazing and they have free wi-fi! The area is all very well lit and we felt safe the entire time. The bed was comfortable, the AC worked very well and the room had a refrigerator which was nice. The TV was Direct TV so it went out during a rain storm which did suck.

As for the location... it is a 40 minute walk to the Field museum or anything in that area. A short 2 minute drive but you hate to give up your parking spot and we weren't about the ride a Chicago bus. To get to the downtown loop or Navy Pier is again a quick drive but then you have to worry about parking your car. Over an hour walk and the L does not run in that area.

Overall if you need to be in that Southern area of Chicago (near Chinatown) this is an excellent hotel to stay in. If you plan on doing much near Navy Pier or the Magnificent mile I would not stay here.

Stayed here for work a couple times. Great room, very spacious and clean. Friendly staff. Nice hotel.

If you pick the correct occasion for staying, this can be a great option. I chose to stay the Saturday evening before the Shamrock Shuffle. On the morning of the event, it was a $6 cab ride to Grant Park, tremendous option to avoid driving into the loop and dealing with expensive parking options. The rooms are huge and clean.

The one issue would be noise on weekends. They do have a couple bars and the lower level which can generate noise, I was on the Second Level directly above the comedy club. Once I turned my PTAC unit onto high, I couldn't hear a thing. Also, there is free parking but you may have to wait or circle for a while on weekends as the spots fill up with those parking for the club. Management had two workers outside attempting to prevent this as parking is to be for hotel guests only, so A for effort from management.

Overall, it worked perfectly for me and should be a good option for business trips, road warriors or those wanting to stay at a more affordable rate while attending mccormick place, china town or sox park.

This hotel was GREAT! In walking distance to McCormick Place and the CTA bus #29 was on the corner (leading to north State Street shops and restaurants). It was conveniently located off the highway with very little city driving, which we were thankful for. They also offer free parking which was great and saved us a lot of money - not hard to find a spot if you check in at a reasonable hour. The rooms were big, clean, and had an amazing deep bathtub. Very friendly staff and secure entrances. We'll be back to visit again soon!

We bidded $40 for this hotel for on Priceline.

The room we were assigned to was MASSIVE. I mean, it was like 700 sq ft big! It was a bit odd because were was a lot of empty space. The giant walk in closet was so big that could have fit another washroom if they wanted to.

Our room was quiet and somewhat clean - the beds were clean but we weren't sure about the stained carpets. Parts of the hotels/rooms were new (ie: beds, tvs, bathrooms) but rest of the hotel doesn't seem to fit in with the renovations as they were not renovated (ie: sofa's, elevators, business centers, air conditioner units, light switches in the room, hallways).

The hotel comes with 2 free guest parking lot. The one we used were well lit and was in the middle of the hotel which can only be assessed by swiping a key card which we valued.

The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. Rooms are spacious however can use a new a new look. Wake up early and enjoy a free continental breakfast. Will recommend to others

I have to start by saying that some of the lower reviews about this hotel said that it was dirty, poorly kept, and had a rude staff. Additionally, there were knocks on the neighborhood.

Many of those reviews are a couple of years old (or at least more than a year).

We rolled in about 11:30 on a Thursday night. The gentleman working the desk was funny, polite, and helpful. We were in our room within 10 minutes of arriving, having parked in the lot that is not gated (there are two lots at the hotel). We had tickets to a Cubs game, and as I hadn't been to Chicago since I was a child, I asked what the best way to get to the game was. Of course it's the L, and the station was about six blocks from the hotel. Again, the gal working the desk (she had a hairdo similar to a buzz cut, I'm sorry I didn't get her name) was VERY helpful, and was funny and outgoing in addition.

The next day, my wife and I walked to the train station. The neighborhood does not feel dangerous. It's a neighborhood that feels like it's the next one to be revitalized in Chicago. Less than two blocks east is a neighborhood that feels like it's been gentrified, and about four blocks north, the same is happening. I am a teacher, and the school where I used to work in Lincoln, NE is a more dangerous neighborhood. The neighborhood felt safe, we saw plenty of people out walking dogs.

Our room was huge and clean. The bedding was what one expects at an upscale motel, white, well-tucked in, and having the apperance of what one would expect in a Hampton or something similar.

Overall, this hotel was a great place to stay. When the traffic was low, it was less than a 10 minute drive downtown (TAKE THE DAMN L TRAIN!), the staff was great, and I never felt unsafe. Yes, the train across the street made noise, but there are white noise apps for your phone or tablet, and that seemed to make a difference for us.

I am very glad we chose to stay at this hotel.

Loud music at 2:30 am in the morning without any notice in advance. It's impossible to sleep because of the noise. Malfunctioned toilet. Had to use the public restrooms downstairs. The rooms are spacious and clean though. The location is ok too.

Chicago South Loop cannot be beat. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are huge and clean. Parking is free and secure, in Chicago what more could you want for a great price!

Chris H

Stayed here for 4 nights to see the U2 shows at the United Center. Can't beat the price in Chicago. Not a lot to do nearby but free parking (rare) and fast free wifi. Nice bed, cold air conditioning, nice shower with good pressure, REAL DirecTV with a guide and nice picture, fridge in room but no microwave (otherwise I'd rate 5 stars). There is a microwave in the business center you can use. Can't speak for the onsite bar & restaurant, I didn't try them. I would stay here again for sure.

I never bother to leave any bad review but this one has gone too far. I stayed over the weekend. Loud music until 3 am (mostly coming from the bar below), lousy hotel management, no housekeeping (they claimed since we put don't disturb sign, they "honored" our sign and didn't perform any cleaning but in fact, we never have our sign placed in front of the door), random person keep accessing our room and asking whether we already checked out.. Wtf. Overall the place is spacious and near Chinatown.

Catherine N

Nice hotel, convenient to the UC Hospital campus. I believe it also relatively near many tourist and visitor attractions, including Hyde Park, the Shedd Aquarium, etc. The hotel was clean and recently updated - nice linens, clean and modern carpet, etc. My room faced the street and did have some noise from the nearby train, but nothing really disruptive. The room was spacious, clean, and offered a ton of natural light from three windows. Stayed here as a business traveler and would do so again.

Husband and I brought our 4 year old to the city as a birthday trip - I was very pleased with our stay at the South Loop Hotel. The front desk staff was very friendly and answered all our questions with their honest opinions. Our room was nicely laid out and gave plenty of room for us to spread out and relax after a long day walking the City. The king bed was comfortable as well as the furniture in the seating area. The Wi-Fi was very fast and I was able to get my work done in no time. FREE PARKING, FREE PARKING, FREE PARKING is ultimately why we decided on this hotel and I am glad we did. Not only is the parking free but it's in a gated key entry lot.

A few negatives - our a/c was loud, not unbearable but I could have done without it, our shower leaked all over the bathroom. I'm not sure if every room is equipped with a handicap shower as ours was but it was not set up very well and after one shower the entire room was flooded. A quick fix with a few towels at the base of the shower entry prevented any more water leaking. Also we were hoping to get a few gifts on our way out of town on our last day so we could avoid the hassle of going into the busy areas of the city and I was very unimpressed that the gift shop was NEVER OPEN. The front desk staff informed me that it was an independently ran business and was not affiliated with the hotel. So unfortunate we were wanting to spend a good deal of money on gifts for friends and family. I hope hotel management sees this issue and looks to resolve it.

Overall this was a great hotel for the price and when we come back we will book here.

Joel W

The Hotel itself is nice - Location, rooms. However the customer service is awful. The majority of the desk staff was nice but the problem is that it took way too long to respond to issues. There was an issue with the A/C and after 40 minutes or so they sent someone up. Then housekeeping never came so I called the desk and was told they have left for the day but they could send someone up with towels and to take out the trash. No one ever came. So I made the bed and noticed the comforter had old blood stains and some other unidentified stain as well. The gated entrance to the parking lot was always open because the exit gate was broken. I also kept smelling sewage from the bathroom. For some reason the windows in the hallway were opened the entire 3 days of my stay and the hallway was ridiculously hot - my glasses fogged up when I walked out of the room. I also noticed trash sitting in the hallway next to a room. I think the people in the room got annoyed and moved it by the janitors closet a few hours later. Then on the day I was checking out my flight got delayed and I called to ask for a late check out and was actually told "we can't because of housekeeping." Which was annoying since housekeeping apparently does not clean all of the rooms. I would definitely not pay to stay here again.

My home in Chicago for a couple of weeks. Very kind, attentive staff, large rooms and always clean. Free parking, good location. I feel safe here.

Highly recommend.

Nicole M

The beds are nice, queen-sized and cozy. The hotel is conveniently located and reasonably-priced. My only complaint is that the coffeemaker is broken.

Lisa M

We have stayed here two years in a row. The hotel is beautiful but I have one complaint..the hallways are freezing cold in the winter months. Also the gift shop has very sporatic hours. The staff is super sweet and helpful.

Jerry B

Was given the wrong room. Went back to the front desk only to be told that the room I was given was the only one left despite having booked 3 weeks in advance. The room I booked was the best they has and was given a handicapped room half the size. Went back to ask if they had any non handicapped rooms left only to be told again they had no rooms left and were sold out. Wasn't until I asked for talk to a manager that the room I originally booked magically became available despite having been told moments before they were all booked. Manager was less than sincere in apology. Free parking was a plus once I got the room I paid for it was alright. Service left something to be desired though.

What a great find! We were in Chicago to watch a musical performance near Soldier Field and decided to stay at this hotel... So glad we did. Nice comfortable rooms with deep soak tubs, a mini fridge and free on-site parking! The lobby bistro has a great breakfast as well.

Vitor M

Fair price, poor rooms. Just one guy (Sonny) from the entire staff was really kind rest did not make a good job.

Great stay close to dt and everything else was convinent

Djuana S

Good local hotel with two restaurants, a hair salon, and a variety of other amenities. Conveniently located near McCormick Place and Chinatown.

Zach S

We like coming to this hotel alot. It's in a great location and convenient to get to events. The rooms aren't bad but some could use alittle work. Usually get a great price for this place and free parking is a huge bonus. Will stay here again.

Selina x

The least comfortable hotel I have ever had in my life! The towels were "dark white"! The hotel The beds were dirty! The comforter smelly! Especially, The trains outside pass by every 10mins! I will never come back! $200 hotel shouldnt be like this! Worst hotel experience ever!!!!!!!!!

Mohammed A

The room is big and i gotta say that i liked the tub in the bathroom it's huge. The room was clean and was provided with almost everything i wanted. The most important thing is that parking is free.

Janis F

The place is older which I could have forgiven if it weren't for the ride housekeeping staff. The front deal people were nice. Housekeeping had an attitude and one woman kept knocking on our door even though there was a DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door. WTH??? I have NEVER not left a tip on my last day at a hotel before...

Linda J

I had a wonderful experience at the Chicago South Loop Hotel. The staff (Diane and Regina) were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and in a perfect location for going downtown Chicago on the bus. Although, I didn't eat at the restaurant in the hotel, I heard the food was very good. The only thing that I didn't like is that the rooms doesn't have a microwave. I highly recommend this hotel.

joshua t

The rooms are nice and big. For the price on where it's located is extremely low. I will stay here again. The only thing was that they charge you an extra $100 for damage and so on. For god sakes. You have my card info. Don't take $100 out of my pocket. 9-26-16 I now find out it will take a7 days before I get my $100 back. That's messed up. They should have made that notable right away. I didn't know until I looked to see how much money was in my bank. That was money I was counting on. Let the people know you do this. Not in small print somewhere you can't see. That's way is 3 instead of 5.

I stayed here sept 30-0ct 2. A few hours after I left the city I noticed that I had forgot my Mac book. I spoke to a women last night she told me she couldn't find it. I eventually stopped over to double check ALL my luggage and bags, My mac book was not in them. I KNOW I forgot it at the hotel. I finally get to speak to the "supervisor" of the lost and found/house keeping and she said well so and so said they checked last night and they could not find it. Once i tell her i know i left it in there and attempted to describe my MAC BOOK she began to laugh and rush me off the phone because she said should could not look while she was on the phone with me. She also said she would call me back with in 15 minutes and its been 2 hours and she still has not called me back. There for Chicago south loop hotel condones thieves to work at their hotel. I would not recommend staying here. I have been treated very poorly.

Leander R

My experience was not one where I actually stayed at the hotel. I was arriving late to town for the international manufacturers trade show. I looked online and saw this place advertising rooms for $134 a night. I called and he said they had a few rooms available but that the price would be $330 per night. I asked very flatly if they were gouging because there's a trade show going on and the person on the phone responded "Yes, but all of the hotels in the area have increased their prices." Personally I think that sucks and it should be illegal but it is what it is. I just booked another room 40 miles away for $137. My question is this, why would I pay $330 for a room that is obviously probably only worth about a $134 per night stay?

Andrzej T

Got great deal on Groupon. This hotel is awesome. New rooms, or at least the one I had. Why would you go stay downtown for way more when you can take a cab or Lyft for 10$ from this one.

Tehray r

Loved this hotel a little bit far far from the McCormick event center. But located in the safe area of chicago

Jennifer J

I love this hotel! When we first got here, we weren't able to get into our room (2 queens) so they bumped us up to a deluxe queen. The room was super nice when we walked in, very large with a nice living area (couch and chair.) The bathroom has a giant tub which is nice after walking around the Windy City in winter! Also - the staff is super nice and helpful, definitely a really great team. All in all, a really wonderful experience.

Tiger H

This was a clean, easily accessible hotel with an in house bar featuring karaoke nights, and the cost included free parking.

The staff were kind and helpful, the room was clean, fully stocked with everything you expect, and the beds were modern and very comfortable.

The walls felt a little "thin", as we could hear people in the hallways, and outside, talking. No pool or hot tub, and the fitness room was missing several accessories to their equipment.

Overall, this hotel fit our budget and delivered what we wanted for a safe, clean, hotel near downtown Chicago with free parking.

barbara b

A great value compared to the other hotels in the area. This was our first time at a Hampton Inn. We will be staying here again. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. The pool was a cool but swimmable for being winter

Jeremy W

Was surprised how comfortable, spacious, and generally upscale the hotel was for the price. Will definitely stay here again!

Hotel is clean, modern, and have spacious rooms. Very comfortable beds! Wonderful restaurant and bar! Located close to the action but affordable. Plus free on site parking! Highly recommend!

Franek L

Despite the neighbourhood might have been a bit better - you'd rather have problems with finding any interesting place to visit - it's just a few steps from city center. You will find awesome breakfast there - in a small bar located in the hotel. Room was neat, bed comfortable.

Lawrence M

I stayed at the Chicago South Loop Hotel two weekends out of the last three and highly recommend this hotel. It is convenient to everything. The rooms are spacious and the soaking size tub is amazing. The staff are professional and very accommodating. I can't say enough about my stay here. I will make this my Chicago hotel.

Tania H

Free on-site parking. Rooms recently updated and clean. Beds very comfortable. Love staying here and then walking to Chinatown for food and shopping. Staff is friendly. No pool but we're too exhausted to swim, anyway!

Mike S

Hotel itself was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The loud drunk guests smoking weed in the parking lots and drinking in the hallways after 12 was not good. Call desk though and they took care of the noise. The area around the hotel is kinda rundown. The hotel like I said though pretty good. Soft pillows but found bed a little stiff.

Abhishek G

Good service from front desk staff. Free parking was very nice. I did not get a chance to check out amenities such as the fitness center or cafe, but noticed that they had a 24hr business center, which is a nice touch considering it is a small hotel. Rooms are clean, and the beds (which they mention have been recently updated with new mattresses) were incredibly comfortable. The bathtub was massive, allowing for a very comforting soak. The selection of toiletries provided was decent (they had soap, shampoo and moisturizer but no toothpaste or bubble bath) and the towels and linens were clean and dry. I wish there was room service available, but these are all small things, and honestly for the price, it is good value. You get what you pay for, and rest comfortably.

Overall my stay was pretty good. The hotel borders some questionable areas, but the hotel itself is in a nice location. Rooms are nice as well, with comfy beds and nice furniture. The TV in our room, unfortunately, did not work very well at all. It has a decent exercise facility, but unfortunately no pool. Only stayed one night and checked out relatively early in the morning, so we didn't have any experience with room service or the like. Overall, would recommend if you can get a room for a decent price and aren't planning on spending all your time in the hotel.

Placed client at the property not knowing what to expect. Have to say this is one nice hotel. The client loved the place. She was treated like royalty. The management and staff were super friendly. The room was clean and functional. Tons of mass transit close by. That means so much when our associates have nothing but great things to say about their experiences. I will definitely be sending future clients to this property in the future.

The location is decent, but not great. The room was nice, especially the large tub, but the building is clearly pretty old. The elevators are ridiculously slow. Housekeeping knocked on my door despite a "do not disturb" sign on the door. The bed was very comfortable and everything was clean. There's no free breakfast - there is a small cafe on the main floor, but it's only open 6 days a week and it was closed one morning of our stay for no apparent reason even though it was one of those six days. There's nothing within easy walking distance, though you can get to the green and red lines if you're willing to walk half a mile. Altogether the stay was nice but I'll probably try to find another option the next time I'm in Chicago.

I feel I got worth of my money spent staying at this hotel. The hotel, its staff, ambience, everything was exceptional. I was especially very happy (and had peace of mind during my trip) with having my car parked on-site and though it was little hard to find a spot if you got back late from downtown, you could safely park it on adjacent street. The location was convenient enough to ride the CTA to and fro and nearby Chinatown has a few great places to grab a quick bite.

Lawrence P

The people who work here were nice. They were good with turn down service. The drinks at their bar were well priced. My only knock is having to ask for extra face rags. Two people should get more two rags a piece. That and their "private" lot gate wasn't properly functioning when I arrived (they have a gated and more open lot; must have their parking pass to park in either). All good other than.

Don't let the other reviews fool you! This hotel was cleaner than all other hotel chains we typically frequent while traveling. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Annie! The rooms are HUGE! The beds and pillows were very comfy. The location, while it looks a bit dodgy is very conveniently located, with the bus 29 stop directly across the street; which takes you to all the tourist spots in less than 10 minutes for $2.25! It's even walking distance if you care to walk. Those who said it isn't a safe neighborhood are clearly wrong. It's just a bit industrial in that area, but definitely not unsafe. The hotel has a nice breakfast cafe with great food, but really bad coffee. They have a bar that connects to the outside for public access, but most hotel bars allow public access. They have a really nice workout room and gated FREE parking. Uber is also nearby and can pick you up in a matter of minutes. It cost us $8 for 2 people to get downtown the day we arrived. Overall the hotel is great, if I had to make a complaint it would definitely be the in room coffee. It is the absolute worst, but Starbucks is a quick walk away. I will definitely stay there if I return to Chicago.

Rasheeda M

I enjoyed my stay, everything was clean and tidy. The only thing to be aware of is where you plug your phone charger. I connected my to the nightstand lamp which blew a fuse and the entire room except for the restroom was without power. Not a big deal, maintenance came and reconnected from the hallway. Minor inconvenience for an otherwise decent getaway. Oh and I by far enjoyed the Bar downstairs the best!!! Make sure to stop in.

Nia K

Missed my train so Amtrak put me up for the night. Admittedly when I heard "free hotel" I braced myself for a cheap experience. I was very pleasantly surprised!!! Beautiful place with a wonderful, professional lady at the counter! Room was super comfy and clean. I will pay to stay here again!!

Erich C

Lovely independent hotel with a charming look and incredibly helpful staff. Ask them about the shuttle to Connie's Pizza, or about just anything. They are great. Also, fantastic deep tubs for soaking.

cody p

Hotel was nice. A little further away from downtown than we thought. Decently clean. Very nice staff. Parking was gated and nice. Enjoyable stay but I think I would spring for a place a bit closer to downtown next time I visit Chicago.

Mary S

Mostly clean hotel and rooms. The edges of the rooms at baseboards and corners could be vacuumed as well as the closet between guests, but overall very nice. Super comfortable beds. Desk staff always courteous and very helpful. Other than the sirens and the Ell, the rooms are quiet. Thick walls so you can't hear your neighbors, if any.

Sherry D

Very nice hotel. The beds were comfortable. The front desk and housekeeping were great. The rooms were not only decorated beautifully but we're very clean.

I particularly appreciated the business center with free coffee while doing my business on their very fast computers! The cafe, shop, salon, and amenities were welcomed. I really felt safe with the gated parking area. I will stay here again.

Ben B

Not a perfect place, but I am not a picky person. For a place that close to downtown Chicago to have free parking is great. Rooms were clean and comfy, staff was nice, fitness center was great too. Bar and Restaurant are currently under renovation, the little breakfast place was nice (a bit pricey for coffee and egg sandwich though).

Only drawback is that our uber driver said there is some low income housing directly behind the hotel (I am not local so I could be given bad info) so maybe don't wander too far at night?

Christen J

Nice hotel, good beds, big bathroom and the tub is huge. Seems like a decent area, but I'm in town for an event, so I haven't gotten out much. Few blocks from an L stop that takes you to the north loop, so pretty convenient! There's a few parking areas, first come first serve. I checked in early, so there were plenty of available spots but it could fill up quickly.

Lorinda J

Beautiful old hotel. The room was very spacious, as was the bathroom. It was clean and comfortable. I loved that I didn't have to pay for parking. The parking area wasn't secure though because the exit gate wouldn't close. We paid more than we would have liked but we were in town for a special occaision.

kitty s

Awesome! Loved the large rooms with refrigerators included. Beautiful large bathrooms. Front desk people very nice! I liked it better than the Crown Plaza. Some in my group did not like the parking situation which is an open lot. Lobby nice too.

Maurine D

The decor would not win any awards, but it was clean, comfortable and I had a nice view of the city. Local delivering restaurants included an Italian place called Rosati's (famous in Chicago) that had the best chicken noodle soup I had ever tasted. This might have been a fluke as the next day I went and asked for more (in person this time) and to ask for the recipe. Staff was all very pleasant and helpful with directions.

Aisha C

Pretty good stay. It's a 3 star hotel so there are some cosmetic and function flaws (dresser drawers and closet doors that don't slide open or closed smoothly and a room door on which the deadbolt requires a trick to work) but the staff was friendly and helpful. Bonnie (front desk) and Jesse (maintenance) were sweethearts, easily changing my room when I declined the one with the trick deadbolt. I loved the room they moved me to. Plenty of space.

The hotel is within walking distance of McCormick Place where the conference I was attending was being held. Even better it had free parking!

My one major complaint is that the cleaning staff isn't terribly thorough or especially good. Nothing was left dirty just less than neat. They left one of my pillows on the floor after my first night there. I didn't realize I'd knocked it off and apparently neither did they. And on another day they didn't replace the towels until evening when I was back in the room and the lady was knocking as she used her key to come in the room. Just really glad I was fully clothed.

I'd stay here again but it would be dependent on the price and how close it was to where I needed to be.

Ya B

Very clean. Super spacious. Comfortable beds. Large tub, and powerful shower! Very nice staff. All around well worth the money!

Krista H

Great hotel! Loved the remodel. Front desk was awesome and friendly. Perfect location for our visit. Free gated parking in back.

Stephanie J

The location is great if you're heading to McCormick place. I was also surprised that they have a shuttle that also goes to McCormick place. There is a restaurant and bar, but they were closed for renovations. Rooms are nice and spacious and I particularly like the bathrooms, but the light switch in my room wasn't attached to anything so I had to click on lamps to get lights, which one lamp was wobbly and the one on the night stand was broken and the fan in the bathroom keep running. I could not turn it off. Otherwise the staff is friendly; they did let me check in early, and the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable.

Tina B

Lobby nice. Parking lot nice. Evidently part of hotel under construction right now. No breakfast, not even toast. Only coffee from a machine and it was NASTY. Not sure how you can mess that up. Room was very nice and very clean, but shower had a leak in ceiling over light. I'm not getting electrocuted today Loop Hotel! :) Might stay again some day if price goes down.

Angus H

Pretty good for it's price. Room came with mini fridge and lounge which was very nice. Just wish they're were some good food options nearby and a better fitness room

adam d

Very nice room. Staff very patient with us. One of our students lost a piece of jewelry and they recovered it for us. Very easy parking. Walking distance to good food, red line, and Wintrust Arena.

Rebecca G

Staying for a Chicago vacation and the hotel is delightful. Free parking and wifi, close access to the highway for quick access to your desired destinations, quiet atmosphere (distant rumble of trains and cars but nothing that was bothersome), and a cafe where breakfast can be made fresh for you. Would definitely stay again.

Donald L

If staying on a weekend, get to the hotel before the parking lot fills up or your free parking is around the block or in the street. Bring beverages because the machines on every floor tend to be sold out quickly. The staff is very nice, both desk and maintenance. Breakfast in the coffee shop was wonderful...Very Friendly and nicely priced.. and your room has one of the nicest showers around.

Kevin B

This Hotel Is Wonderful!! The Staff Was Friendly The Rooms Were Very Comfortable And Clean. The Bathroom Was Nice Too. Also Loved The Free Parking. Definitely Would Recommend This Hotel To My Friends. Peace And Quiet With Everything From Restaurants And Downtown Within A 10 min Radius. Will Stay Here Again.

Bonni D

Staff is lovely, cafe is great for quick breakfast, very close to everything we wanted to see. The hotel seems safe and pretty well maintained for the most part, its clean. The beds are really hard but I love the pillows. There is not much sound proofing from the outside, I travel with a white noise machine and was glad. That stopped us from hearing the traffic. The bathtubs are huge, the prices are quite reasonable.

Sherea B

Great deal! Super close to downtown. I love that there was free parking. I lived in Chicago for 10 years on a work assignment and had a chance to see how the area has evolved for the better. I came back in town for a funeral and to check on one of my rental properties and this place popped up on Orbitz website. I never noticed it before but I'm glad I found it. This will be my go-to place when coming back to Chicago for business or personal affairs.

Veronica L

Rooms are nice, but staff needs to do better. Had to wait in line a while to check in, and when I finally got to my room, I noticed that the toilet was clogged. I called the front desk who said they would send someone up to fix it. 30 minutes later, no one had showed up. Called the front desk again and again with no answer. When someone finally came up to fix it, 45 minutes after the initial call, they said I had to go downstairs to the front desk and change rooms😑. Waited in line again(10-15minutes)to change rooms, went back upstairs to the new room and the keys didn't work. I walked into the hotel at 10:40pm, and didn't get into a suitable room until 12:08am. Absolutely ridiculous. Most likely will not book here again.

Tequila D

The rooms were nice and clean and spacious. the shower was really nice and had a deep soak tub free parking and the beds weren't horribly uncomfortable either. I didn't hear the sirens but my boyfriend got woke up a few times. apparently the hotel is located a few blocks away from the fire station or a hospital I'm not sure which but if you're a light sleeper that might be an issue for you. The only issue we had was our towels smelled like burnt something which isn't really bad considering the location. Staff was super friendly

Sam B

We've stayed here several times. It's quickly becoming our place of choice when in Chicago. The hotel is nice in a comfortable sort of

way. The location is ideal for us. The rooms are larger than a lot of Chicago hotel rooms, and off street parking is complimentary. If you're a social fan the stadium is less than 10 minutes walk. Chinatown is about the same distance McCormick Place.

Daniel S

Dusty and old feeling yet this hotel isn't old. This hotel has a great price considering its location and compared too hotels in the area. Amenities listed on the website were closed or didn't exist.for example the gift shop was there but closed during our entire stay, salon doesn't exist. Resturant doesn't exist. It's a China town trick. If this hotel was honest with their advertising then I would have given it 5 stars. The good: Close to downtown, convention center, China Town, and the best feature FREE GATED PARKING! The bad: Lies on the website, dusty rooms, slow elevators, poor customer service and the train WILL wake you up at all hours of the night!

Jailhouse P

We stayed two nights at the Chicago South Loop Hotel.Talk about location! It's just a few blocks from China Town, and minutes from the beach and Navy Pier . The staff was very helpful and friendly. They allowed us to check in early too! They offer free parking for guests, which is rare for any hotel in the city. The hotel lobby is gorgeous and spacious. The rooms were very clean and the beds were some of the comfiest we've ever slept on. The bathroom was also very nice. Super clean and the tub was huge!! Do yourself a favor and make your next stay in Chicago here. You won't regret it!

Cara R

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It's a little ways from downtown, but just a quick bus ride from shopping and museums, and the bus stop is right across the street. It's also only 1/2 a mile from the trains. The location also gave me the opportunity to see new parts of the city, like Chinatown. Free parking was awesome. Bed was comfortable and staff were friendly. If you want a hotel right on the mag mile this hotel might not be for you, but if you're looking for a comfortable, affordable place that's a quick ride to all the Chicago attractions consider staying at the South Loop Hotel!

Bailey H

I attempted to arrange a room block at this hotel for our wedding due to the proximity of our venue and vendor recommendation. We were met with such poor, unprofessional customer service from their sales and front desk team we couldn’t imagine sending our guests here. Both parties were telling us different facts, so there was a major lack of trust. They offer free parking, but let you know that guests end up having to park on the streets at busy times, they have extra lots but prefer not to use them or tell guests about them. The room block rate was $10 cheaper than the quote price for a normal guest, but then you have to pay an extra $10 per room per additional person over the allotted two. The contract provided, compared to those provided by major hotel groups, looks like it was copy and pasted from different websites. When asked to make a change to it, they copy and pasted my email into it. How that becomes binding is beyond me, and not a normal business practice. Don’t waste your time looking into this hotel option!

Chicago South Loop Hotel hosted our client, touring comedian Andrew Rose, and he couldn't have been more pleased! Being minutes from some of Chicago's best attractions afforded him tons of options while in town performing. He also started his day off right with breakfast at the very chic Food Boutique on site! We look forward to sending more of our clients here in the near future.

I had the memorial for my nephew at this hotel. In addition to the event room and catered event, I booked 3 rooms for family. All the service was impeccable. First La Tonya was amazing and extremely helpful as our event planner. I was skeptical about having to buy food from an unknown caterer. The food was very tasty, plentiful, and reasonably priced. The check in was very well done and the beds were very comfortable. This hotel is by far the best kept secret in all of Chicago. I know because I am from Chicago and have stayed in most elegant of hotels like Four Seasons, Fairmont, Marriott, Hyatt and others. You won't go wrong staying here.

Heather V

I can’t say enough good things about our stay! They let us park early before check in, you know their free parking! The room was booked incorrectly by a third party site and they still got us in the right room. The room was clean and comfy with plenty of space. The location to public transit and their willingness to direct us was wonderful. Upon check out I was able to stay parked safely all day. I arrived back for my car earlier than I could leave and I sat and read in the lobby. So impressed from start to finish!

Travis A

Good hotel, but ghetto neighborhood. Skipped my room one of the days for housekeeping. My TV didn't work the first day, but after 3 calls they did come and fix it. Never found the promised free breakfast. But even if I did, it was closed for two of the days I was there. Closed for what you might ask? For the mega-internationally celebrated two-day holiday of fathers day, of course!

Danny V

Really great hotel for the price. The hotel is in a very convenient area of town. It has multiple parking lots so parking is no problem, even for oversized vehicles. There were a lot of people in the lobby checking in when we arrived but the staff were very quick to get everyone settled. The rooms are very spacious, quiet and clean with super comfortable beds. Would definitely stay here again when coming to Chicago.

Tim M

It was a nice hotel. The room was spacious. The bathroom had a nice deep tub. Some things in our room were not quite right, though. The closet door was off it's track (not a big deal) and it was difficult to turn the shower on. Other than that, it was a great place to crash after a night on the town.

Sponge C

I'm not sure if this is a hotel or a high-concept performance art piece whose goal is to humiliate me. I called to find out the rate for a room and sat on hold for 30 minutes. Seems like it would have been an easy enough question to answer for an actual hotel, right? If they were real then certainly they could tell me their actual room rates, right?

Its a very interesting business model to show no interest whatsoever in a potential customer. Wild stuff. If their goal was to make me feel like an idiot for sitting on hold for so long then I guess they can mark me as mission accomplished.

I can't say that I've ever been there but if it is real then I have no reason to believe it isn't a nice place. I'm sure the rooms are clean and orderly, the staff is probably informed and friendly. But I am convinced that it doesn't actually exist. I called a number that goes straight to one guy doing multiple voices, pretending to juggle me around, just to see how long it takes before I give up. A determined part of me wanted to push it to an hour but to what end? To see if he got so frustrated that I was occupying his line for so long? So that I could win? Am I really that proud? No. No I am not. I admit defeat, honorably, at the hands of a master prankster who convinced me with a realistically designed website that he had an actual hotel.

Michele J

Very disappointed with this hotel. I never even stayed. I was searching online for reservations on July 8 at 3:22pm from my home in New Hampshire and somehow a reservation was processed for that same day. Obviously I cannot be in Chicago from NH at that hour of the day to stay at the hotel. You all charged my account $110.35. When I called to find out what happened, because I DID NOT MAKE RESERVATIONS, I was told "too bad, it went through and because you did not cancel we charged your account." How would I even know that I had to cancel, because I did not process the reservation. You all just ripped me off $110. Thanks for nothing. I actually am planning a trip to Chicago in September, which is why I was searching for a hotel, but I can assure you I will not be staying with you!!

Nice location - friendly and helpful staff - great rooms with solid showers

We were very excited to book this hotel in Chicago. Upon check-in, the staff was attentive and helpful, going out of their way to make guests feel welcome. The location worked very well for us--it was a very nice walk (and even quicker drive) to a super beach off Lake Michigan (which we took advantage of right away) and close to pretty much all the things you want to do in Chicago. We were uncertain how parking would be (we have gear in our car) but were super relieved when they gave us a parking pass to a gate-locked parking lot in back. Major plus.

The rooms were nice--quiet with big beds, clean and the best part...a shower with amazing water pressure! There was also a giant tub, which we took advantage of as well. Both things that are hard to find in most hotels this price. The TV, fridge and air conditioner all passed the test too so the room really fit all of our needs.

We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Chicago and recommend it to friends/family.

If anybody is trying to find good deals on hotels visit HoteIBully. com booked a hotel on there and they had the best rates anywhere!

My daughter and I stayed at the hotel the night of a concert at Soldier Field. The stay started out to be very good, no complaints, and everyone that we came in contact with was very nice and helpful. However, the next morning we were work up to a knock on the door at 9am from housekeeping wanting to know if our room was empty so they can clean. Mind you checkout time is 11am and there was no do not disturb sign that we could put out. They then came back about 10am and proceeded to try to enter the room because we hadn't answered the door fast enough! Good thing I was dressed!! I confronted the housekeeper as to why she was going room to room to see if the guests had left and if she had a list of the rooms that were empty. She replied that our room was empty and that's why she was trying to get in. I went to check out and discussed this with the desk clerk and all she said was that the housekeepers are not supposed to do this and that she would talk to the housekeeping manager. She did apologize repeatedly and never offered anything to us in return. I really wasn't looking for anything but I have never EVER been to a hotel that has ever done this!

Yarlian V

Terrible all around. Their customer service is absolutely awful. I called them to confirm and let them know I’d be paying in cash, they hung up twice before placing me on hold for 30 minutes. We arrived to the hotel when they informed us they had downgraded our room because we were paying in cash. We get to the room and it smelled awful. We informed the front desk of the smell and they offered to have someone spray the room. The soap and shampoo dispensers in the room were empty. The bathroom doors are broken and does not close.

This hotel is all around awful. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Wow! The Chicago South Loop was an incredible hotel! The first thing I noticed was the gated parking and the beautiful lobby and it only got better from there! The rooms were spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable! The internet was super fast and made work on the road a breeze. I especially liked their business center with coffee ready to go. The room and the whole hotel was immaculate. If you’re staying in that area I would highly recommend staying at the Chicago South Loop.

John L

The Chicago South Loop Hotel is a hidden gem in the Windy City.

Our brief stay was luxurious and comfortable, while still being affordable.

I had a great time in the pool downstairs, and woke up each morning to a delicious meal in the Coffee Cafe. Try the veggie wrap!

There are plenty of facilities to suit your every travel need. Beds were comfy, not too stiff, and the air conditioner was ice cold!

I will definitely be booking again upon returning to the city for work.

Clean Rooms - Free Parking and Special Friendly Service. Thank You 😊 to Wonderful KELLY who is very professional did a great job and made our stay amazing. Keep it up girl!!

I recommend this please 100% !! (Everyone ask for Kelly you will love her too)

Jason M

The room was nice and roomy. Great shower head. The beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly. The carpet in the room was a little sticky, like a previous guest spilled a beer and it didn't get cleaned up completely. The lobby and elevator smell sickly sweet, like an air freshener in Grandma's bathroom. It's overwhelming. I can't overstate how much it smells. My wife and I were trying our best to hold our breath walking to the room. It made my wife ask, "what smell do you think they're trying to cover up?" Seriously, they need to dial it back. Everything else is good, though. I'd probably stay here again if it stays more on the budget end of the spectrum price-wise relative to other Chicago hotels.

In the south side of Chicago where my artists play a lot at Reggie’s, I’ve found a new spot for lodging - Chicago south loop hotel. The location is perfect in close proximity. Plenty of parking for large vehicles such as a sprinter and trailer in the property’s own secure lot. Great outdoor pool and workout room. Rooms are huge, and bathroom even larger than expectations with a massive bathtub too. Plenty of hot water and water pressure. Great soaps and shampoos - mega comfy beds too. Flatscreen TV is larger than what you would find in your average property of this caliber. The coffee cafe has some pretty good eats as well. Staff here is well-dressed, super friendly and accommodating. Had a pleasant stay all the way around. This is a great place for touring bands and I’m looking forward to spending more time here in the future. Thanks team!

Nida K

Decent hotel. Lobby is a decent size with a small seating area. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room I stayed in was clean. More of an older looking room and not modern. Parking is available. Location is great as it is not far from downtown and local spots. Most places I drove to were only about 12 to 15 minutes away. Towels were not that soft. Small countertop space in the bathroom. Lamps around the room to help with lighting but did not like the lighting in the bathroom. Good place to stay overall, no significant complaints.

Hannah H

This hotel was a perfect spot to stay in while visiting Chicago. It is downtown but just slightly out of the most condensed area so I didn’t have a issue with noise at any time of the day. The staff was accommodating and kind and I love the vintage ascetic of the hotel. My room was large, comfortable and very clean. Bonus was the hot tub size bath tub that I soaked in before bed. I never see that in hotels! Near by lots of good food! I’ll be back.

Kyle M

The Chicago South Loop Hotel is a fantastic place to stay when in Chicago. Rooms were clean and very spacious, beds were comfortable and well maintained, and the staff was very helpful. The cafe in the lobby is a great way to start your day too. I would highly recommend the Chicago South Loop Hotel to anyone traveling to the Windy City.

Sara K

Beds were super comfortable! Temperature of the room was perfect and able to be regulated by me. Water pressure in the shower was perfect for someone with stupid thick hair! We had a great night and slept well! Thank you!!

Shirley G

I was there because Amtrak sent us there because of train delay. Anyway, I enjoyed my overnight stay there. Front desk rep was very polite, professional and courteous. The lightning in rooms and bathroom could be a little better

Erin B

Wanted a hotel close to downtown but still be affordable and this worked perfectly. Nice, spacious, clean room; very comfy bed; nice large shower. We would definitely stay again if ever in town

Jordan J

Great location! This hotel is super close to tons of shops and restaurants. The rooms are very spacious and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is a little cafe in the lobby with lots of breakfast/brunch options. It was also nice to have on site parking in a secured lot. Would definitely stay here again next time I’m in Chicago!

Sabrina G

Stayed at the Chicago South Loop hotel on Christmas and I would recommend this hotel to everyone. The staff was courteous and friendly. Because I arrived at the hotel so late she gave me a late checkout with no additional charge. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The parking was included in the rates which made my stay that much sweeter. I look forward to staying there again. Sincerely Sabrina Smith

Ronda B

Let me start by saying that I would stay here again, no question. Great parking, friendly and helpful staff, clean, comfortable rooms. There is a salon which turned out to be convenient and restaurant serving lunch and dinner that was more than adequate, but small. I hesitate to give it 5 stars because it is advertised as a boutique hotel. If you have stayed in many boutique hotels, you will likely be disappointed. That said-great location, good value and a hotel I will return to if I find myself in Chicago again.

Roy P

I would gladly recommend stay here again! The beds were really comfortable and the room was clean. Staff was pleasant and very helpful in answering our questions!

Dominique S

This hotel is nice but only okay. There's no bar, no coffee/tea and the service at the front desk was mediocre. The woman that checked us in barely smiled and wasn't very friendly. However, I did really enjoy the bath tub in the room. It was very deep.

A little dated, but no real complaints. Important things like bed and bathroom are pretty nice. Little things like carpeting aren't as nice. Staff was friendly and accommodated late check out. Price is good. Location looks sketchy but is fine and on a well trafficked street. Overall I liked it

Best thing about hotel was free open parking which is very rare in hotels in downtown Chicago. Hotel is located just south of downtown and couple of blocks walk to Chinatown but secluded so not appropriate for walk during night I'd say. There is public transport available right across the hotel. Overall, a good place to stay.

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. Aesthetically very pleasing, plenty of parking, clean, spacious rooms, great TVs, nice showers... the list goes on. What I’d really like to highlight is the staff - incredibly friendly and professional (even at late hours), and had great recommendations on where to go for food and fun. I will absolutely be returning to the Chicago South Loop hotel, and will be recommending to my friends!

My husband and I have used the Chicago South Loop just two times, both for special occasions and both times were fantastic! The rooms were spacious and clean and warm (since both times were during the winter months)...oh so warm. The bathroom was large and clean and fully stocked; it was a great experience. The staff was helpful, friendly, and very accommodating. We couldn't have asked for a better time. We know now that every time we are in need of a hotel near - but too close - to downtown Chicago, we will use The Chicago South Loop Hotel.

I've had the pleasure of staying at the Chicago South Loop Hotel several times in the last couple of years, and it's always a fantastic stay! I get really stressed trying to find parking whenever I stay in a big city, but this hotel has several parking areas on-site that alleviate that stress for me. The rooms have been spacious and immaculate each time I've stayed here, which is important considering I usually travel with a group. There's a great cafe on the ground floor of this hotel with a friendly staff that serves many great breakfast options, everything made to order. If you're staying in the city be sure to check this place out!

I stayed at the Chicago South Loop Hotel while in town on business. I had to check in late but relaxed due to the warm and welcoming staff and lobby. The gated parking lot also helped to put my mind at ease. The room was warm, comfortable, and spacious. I will absolutely stay here again the next time I come to Chicago.

Friendly and patient front desk and the SOAKING tub made the stay much better. The parking lot ugh, way to narrow to accommodate the size of many types of vehicles. Clean rooms and hotel that makes it desirable

Enjoyed our stay at the Chicago South Loop. It’s always clean and quite! Parking is FREE which is always great in Chicago! It’s a bit of a walk to the train from here but if you are comfortable walking around Chicago it’s a good location! We have stayed here a few times and always walk to the train! Safe location

Large Comfortable Rooms! I am often seeking hotels to attend music concerts. Stayed here several times to go to Reggies. I really like the rooms, free parking, easy access to Lake Shore Drive and downtown. Quick burger after the show right around the corner. Always Clean! Great front desk employees. I give it a 4.5. it is often a full house and there has been lines at the elevator and desk on occasion.

Hotel was great. Staff was very friendly. There is a 24 hour access to the computer and printer which is nice if you need to print something.

The location was convenient because it was about a 15 minute walk to convention center. Other than that it's not in the nicest area. Also nothing else really to walk to.

Pros: Great customer service, large rooms, love the deep bathtub, clean. Good food at the cafe.

Cons: Our room was right next to the train/busy street and you could hear everything! The hotel needs soundproof windows. Beds were hard. The free parking was a plus but the lots get full at night and so does the street parking so we had to park a few blocks away.

I would stay again for the value.

Donnie, at the front desk, had my family waiting for a room to check in for 2.5 hours in the lobby. Two couples came in after us and got a room of the same type we were waiting on. When I asked Donnie about this, he said the computer updates all the time but we were feet away from the front desk. After nasty remarks from Donnie for 2.5 hours, he left for the day. I went up to desk and miraculously many rooms were available! Wow!

The coffee shop in the hotel was closed all weekend so we had to leave the hotel to get good coffee and breakfast.

Not near any restaurants. Had to Uber everywhere.

Clean room. Will not stay here again.

Awesome view and fantastic services. Every staff we dealt with was very nice and professional. Room is very clean and has state of art technology. Loved every minute of our stay.

If you need an affordable option close to the convention center this place is a good, no frills option. Parking is free, the staff are friendly and the rooms are clean. I was able to walk to convention center every day. The neighborhood is safe. Consider De’ Michael Market and cafe just down street - No restaurant or gift shop on site. The fitness center is clean and the equipment works/has what most would want. I will book again.

Very accommodating staff. The cafe that they have that serves breakfast has some lovely cooking. Very good. 10/10 would stay again.

The rooms appear rather dinky, but this is offset by great customer service and a very nice little cafe on campus (although there isn't enough seating). My biggest concern is price: over $400 a night is a lot to ask for an average hotel, and more comfortable ones can be found at McCormick square for half the price. Also, showers dispense soap and shampoo from the wall, which is gross

Horrible experience. The coffee shop that supplies breakfast was closed both days of my stay so it left me with nowhere to eat for breakfast. I asked for recommendations and they just pointed and said 3 mins that way and took care of other customers. I had to wait for her to help others before she provided me a map and said the name of someplace to eat. I have never had trouble figuring out how to eat breakfast in my life.

Then they gave me the wrong room key at check-in and I walked in on another guest in their room.

I will never book here again. Do yourself a favor and skip this hotel.

Added note: They also seem incapable of providing clean towels in a timely manner. Hope you don't waste them if you are unfortunate enough to choose to stay here.

I stayed at The Chicago South Loop Hotel this past weekend. I was only there for a couple of days but had a really fun time! Location was great, located this and 164 more
