How would you rate Nana's Soul Food Kitchen?

I have been to Nana's on two other occasions. Thus far the food was perhaps a 3 or 4 out of 5, however on this visit the only good food was the fried chicken. The cornbread appeared and tasted a day old. It was as if they tried to cut their loss because of Thanksgiving. The cornbread looked as though it was in a fight. The collard greens were al dente, who eats al dente collard greens. Cook them thoroughly please, and thank you. The girl at the cash register acted like she owned the place, and didn't give 2 hoots about the fact that I didn't want busted up cornbread muffins. Well I sure hope she gets rich soon. The money first then the attitude, and even then "stop it". Treat others the way you want to be treated. I called back and asked to speak to the manager and the young lady on the phone named Narissa said she was the manager. She did not apologize ,and even appeared to be unfazed that there was a dissatisfied customer. " Listen up people" If you get enough dissatisfied customers you will feel it. That being said I don't wish the company any bad luck. Just keep it tight and things will go right. Take the loss of the holiday to ensure more satisfied customers.
The food was really good. I got the large plate with fried chicken, smothered pork chop, mashed potatoes and collard greens. Everything was really good, but the pork chop wasn't really flavorful. I would give it four stars, but the pork chop was a nay and my food wasn't hot. It was warm/cold. Good eats!
You know how you forget why you stopped going to a place...
Well that is what happened with Nana's...
The Mac & Cheese is like Kraft Mac & Cheese, the Green Beans were flavorless..
The Chicken was the best part!!!
Not sure what happened there, but please please please bring the food back that has the flavor!!!
And it was like over 10 bucks...
The food was good and the food portions was exceptional. But the customer service was horrible, this was my family and I first time visit going through the line. We gave them our ordered at the beginning of the line and by the time we reached the end of the line our orders was a clustered mess. After the whole cluster mess with our basic orders. We even wrote it down our orders while waiting in line so we did not hold the line up having others wait. We still had to wait on plates after going to be seated the tables were really dirty. The food was great but customer service needs to spruced up
It was good it wasn't all that. Me and my husband went today. We got 2 large plates with drinks it was 45 dollars. Kinda pricy ok portions
Great food, good portions..... aliitle pricy
They are pretty good. The staff is always friendly and the seating area is always clean. The food in most cases is above average. I don't care for the mac & cheese or collards but I have enjoyed everything else that I've tried over the last few years.
I had Chicken and Mac &Cheese and yams. The chicken was warm 1st bite umm NO, MAC & CHEESE. TASTE LIKE IT'S OLD something in it. Yams good but for a small meal me and my Wife had way too pricey, The owner greeted us today and He was pleasant but it seemed. Phony and forced and quite cocky hopefully he reads his reviews and make some changes, I'm from Detroit and I've been to better soul food places and this is in the south i really did expect different. Well that's all for my review.
Lord have mercy!!! This place is AMAZING!!! The best Mac n cheese, cabbage & chicken I have had outside of Alabama!!!
The food was wonderful and the environment is very family friendly. I'd recount this restaurant to any person and I'd definitely come back again!
I went thinking I'd get some amazing grandma mac and cheese. All to be let down. It looked more like KFC brand and tasted like a box. Ordered white meat chicken and didn't know you only get one breast or 3 wings.... I'm really let down.
Friendly service and finger lickin' good Pork Ribs. Reasonable prices for portions. Good for the soul!
The baked chicken was nice and juicy, I didn't like the greens, the mac cheese tasted like it had a little seafood something going on. The red velvet cheesecake was good overall a good experience. The staff could be a little more welcoming for the price!
Everything was great!! We all had a different chicken dish from the jerk wings to fried chicken. The sides were great highly recommend the Mac n cheese and sweet potatoes. Probably some of the best corn bread I have had.
Everyone was extremely nice and friendly.
Check out Nana's is true home cooking at its finest.
I come from a long lineage of phenomenal cooks, and I expect exceptional food and service from a soul food establishment. Especially one in the south. At Nana's, I got neither. The fried catfish, although seasoned well, had not drained properly so when it hit my plate, the oil had started to pool on the top. The yams were way too sweet. I'd rather have my yams without a side of diabetes. The greens were decent, but undercooked. The mac and cheese... BIGGEST disappointment ever! I swear it tastes like it comes from a can. Like really bad Kraft mac and cheese. The red velvet cake was dry. And then there's the service. Basically, it sucks. Its very difficult to spend my money with people who act like theyre doing me a huge favor by separating me from it. So mediocre to bad food, crappy service, AND the place is pricy! Not at all impressed. Not even a little bit. Wont be back.
Food not good. I ordered the baked chicken legs with cabbage and mac and cheese. Cabbage was ok, mac&cheese which is my favorite food was awful. The chicken was not good either. too high for the quality of food you are receiving. I paid $13 for this mess. So disappointed! This was my second time trying this place. Won't be back.
Nana's soul food is a very nice place and serves great food. This is why I recommended this place to guests here in Charlotte. With that said we ordered over sixty dollars worth of food to go. Specifically, I ordered Cat Fish. The food was great. However, just like the photo where you show a nice helping of Macaroni and cheese and yams I along with everyone else did not get this. We were shocked at the amount we received in our plates. once we got back to our destination I literally finished my side dishes yams and macaroni in two bites. Total disappointment and rip off. Please tell you staff to stop treating customers like they're on an assembly LINE at work and providing small to very little proportions of food which people pay good money for. This type of behavior will lessen if not unaccepted[table discontinue others to want to patronize your establishment.
The food is absolutely great, but for the price, regular plates, flatware, and service would add another star. You can eat for equalivalent pricing at Chili's. If all you want is flavor, though, this is one of the best stops in town.
The southern fried chicken has perfect seasoning and crunch, but the other options are just as delicious. There are plenty of freshly prepared vegetables as sides or for a complete meal. Candied sweet potatoes are a great addition to the meal and become both a vegetable and desert in one. Don't forget the hot out the oven corn bread and sweet tea to wash it all down.
Food was really good. I thought the portions were a little small for the price and "style" of restaurant. I thought it would be a "sit and be served" style but it is cafeteria style. The desserts are priced a bit high as well. Overall good experience though. I would recommend it!
Great comfort food. I almost always have the fried chicken but their other options are tasty too. Perfect for a quick lunch because almost all of the food is served cafeteria style.
Always look forward to eating here when I'm in Charlotte. I ordered the small plate of ribs with greens and macaroni and cheese and it was awesome. A nice portion for the price and the meals include a drink. Definitely a place worth a look.
I cannot speak for the service of the restaurant as I didn't get to visit the physical location. My father brought home some leftovers (that was catered possibly, not entirely sure) from his work where they were served a meal from Nana's. But boy was I glad that I got the opportunity to try some of the food!
I had the fried chicken breast and cornbread. Even reheated, the fried chicken was still moist, tender, and crispy. It was cooked well and still juicy. Not overcooked and dry like you find at a lot of other restaurants.
The cornbread was SO good! It was incredibly moist with just a hint of sweetness. Again, a big difference that the cornbread or corn muffins you find at other places that are dry and crumbly. I definitely look forward to being able to visit Nana's in person, to enjoy another excellent meal there.
The selection of foods are great. The price is a bit high for what you get, but the quality of the food and the satisfaction of eating true home cooked southern food overcomes the price. I love the smothered chops and jerk chicken and baked chicken and curry chicken and the deserts are not to be missed either. Wonderful place to lunch or dinner.
I had high expectations from the beginning and this place didn't live up to them. I called my dear grandmother Nana so I was expecting perfection and they came nowhere close to touching the heavenly bar that she set for me. Overall, I would say the place is decent but just a touch pricey.
Decent cafeteria style soul food. I've had better, but I've also had worse. So, I'd say this is middle of the road. The winning feature is the value- you get so much food.
Stopped in here for dinner while at the hotel nearby. Friendly staff all around and we had delicious fried chicken, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, and sweet tea. Definitely would be a regular if I lived in town.
I was visiting Charlotte and had dropped in for the first time for lunch. The food was fantastic. The fried catfish was probably the best I have ever had. The service was great. Friendly and welcoming. I had two staff members ask if everything was okay. Where does that happen outside of fine dining. I can't wait to come back to Charlotte and Nana's!
The food here was delicious! Everything was nice, hot, and freshly made. Customer service seemed a little rude from those serving the food, but overall a great food place. Also, they honor military discount which I found wonderful, being that most businesses do not support our military. Thank you for supporting our troops!
Lemme tell ya. This cornbread? This cornbread is the best damn thing I've ever eaten. Ever. And the fried chicken? A delight. Stuffing and greens were good but not the best. But the red velvet cheesecake? I'm going to need to divorce my husband so I can marry this cheesecake. This place is unassuming little joint over near the airport, but don't be deceived. You want to go to Nana's!!
The food, the atmosphere, the staff and the price was well above average. I was told by my hotel concierge to go there for some good soul food and I'm glad I did. Everything was hot and fresh and the people were very friendly. A lot of soul food restaurants could learn a thing or two from them....This place will be a stop anytime I'm in town.
This was my first place I ate in Charlotte. I was working near by and my love of soul food was in full force when I saw this delicious food spot. I had to try the fried chicken with mac & cheese and collards. It was tasty and the sides were delicious but the chicken had a bit too much breading. I also tried the catfish on another occasion and it doesn't seem like they choose the best filets for that. Overall food is decent so Ill return to see if it got better.
Amazing food! I had family in from NJ and they wanted to try some real southern food. Everyone I asked recommended Nana's and it was a great recommendation. The family and I loved it! Will definitely be back to try everything out
Great service. Very friendly. Was refreshing to see teenagers/young adults who gave good customer service. The deserts was very good. The BBQ sauce on the chicken was very sweet and tasted off. The mac and cheese was not what I expected. A cross between baked and boxed. The cabbage didn't seem to have any salt or flavoring to it. For a Southern soulfood place it was mediocre overall.
The food was great. Whoever made the dressing put their heart in to it. Best soul food and this side of town. Different choices for everyday of the week, kinda pricey but it's worth it
To die for fried chicken. Amazing greens and piping hot Mac and cheese. Cornbread with a touch of sweet. Hands down among the best establishments I've dined at in Charlotte. You're missing out if you don't make the drive from down town to sample what they have to offer.
I live in High Point, 1.5hrs from NaNa's (which is probably a good thing) but I'd eat here everyday if I could. They do it all right! They greet you immediately and make no assumptions that you've been before, something 99% of restaurants do. If you're new, they welcome you, explain the menu and offer samples. If you're a repeat customer...they welcome you back with a smile. My husband asked to sample the chicken & was given a whole fried chicken leg! Everything, from the sweet potatos to the sweet tea, was PERFECT!!
Our glutinous Western world has become so used to being super sized for $1 that we complain about proper portions of real food at reasonable prices. Get over it! Nana's gets an A++ in my book.
So good! Quick, courteous service. Clean place all around and the food was awesome! Had a friend chicken breast, potato salad, coleslaw and cornbread. All wonderful! I'll be back.
The meatloaf dinner plate with yams and macaroni is pretty good. If you are looking for a delicious sweet potato pie then look no further Nana's Soul Food is up your alley. It's not only the food that's good but the staff is very professional. Every person is greeted with a smile. Overall if you are looking for some good soul food then I recommend you to come to Nana's Soul Food Restaurant.
First time eating here and had most pleasant experience. Everything is laid out as if you were in line for lunch in a school caffeteria, but don't let that deter you from eating here. The food was delicious and the portions we're more than enough to satisfy. I recommend the collard greens, ribs, and sweet potatoes!!
Fried fish, ribs and sides were awesome! Very friendly and helpful staff. I ate there two years ago and again today. There is always a line and people eagerly walk in the door but the proof is in the eating. Give them a try!
First time here was a really good experience. A little pricey but you get your monies worth for sure. They have a lot of options! The cabbage and collards are really tasty and the fried chicken was great. everything looked fresh and tasted fresh.
Just had an amazing lunch. I saw this place a week ago while running errands. A customer of mine told me how good it was & he was right. The fried chicken was so good & juicy. I was nervous about the stuffing because not every place makes good stuffing but it was very good. We'll be in again for sure.
First time visit. i originally was going to eat at anothet place but saw them sitting in the corner. said might as well give them a try. boy am i glad i did. I got the bbq ribs, Mac n cheese and curry chicken rice. this is the best soul food i have had in a long time! Staff was Very friendly welcoming you and telling you a little bit about the place. Good representation of the south. Definitely will be returning!!
The food and service was great. The prices are reasonable and OMG the food was delicious, especially the collard greens!! I think they should've picked a different location and more space for their business. My boyfriend and I will come back soon.
First time experiencing Nanas soul food kitchen. I did go 20 minutes before they were closing to try the fried chicken. I got a breast, wing and a thigh. Unfortunately the breast was not really fresh and dry. Therefore I can’t give an accurate description of the fried chicken. The batter seem to be really good. Make sure the fried chicken is fresh when you give this place a try. Great staff and excellent service.
We saw this place in Creative Loafing's Best Of Charlotte issue. I got curry chicken with white rice and pasta salad, my man got a fried pork chop with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and a leg of fried chicken. HOLY SMOKES. It was all amazing. Best meat: fried chicken. Best side: mac and cheese. The banana pudding was also delicious. The employees were so helpful and friendly. When we walked in we were looking at the menu and they came around and said, "Come on around and we'll tell you about it, don't be shy!" This one girl, Phyllis, listed EVERYTHING they have, then they walked us through what we wanted. We'll definitely be going back when we're on that side of town.
Our group from Cincinnati, Ohio and Atlanta, Ga has never been to NaNa’s , but our experience was Awesome. Customer service was Excellent!
From explaining our price to what we were getting for our money. The young ladies were very patient and understanding. I believe in our group we had everything on the buffet. And no complaints just satisfaction. Thank you got our home cooking experience !!!!!
The atmosphere was nice the staff was very pleasant. However regarding the food I must say the smothered pork chops and the curry chicken was delicious. The sides I wasn’t pleased with. The collard greens, cabbage, Mac n cheese we’re all horrible. The greens taste as if they were out of a can. The cabbage was soggy and luke warm. The Mac n cheese wasn’t tasty. The food didn’t seem to be fresh and hot. I will say the raspberry cheesecake was delicious!!
The BBQ ribs were absolutely amazing. The meat slid right off of the bone. This was one of the only times I ate ribs and didn't have to get my hands dirty. The stuffing, yams, and macoroni & cheese were equally as delicious. One thing I would like to mention is that this is NOT A BUFFET. I don't know why it is described as a buffet on Google but it is more like a cafeteria. You order what you want, and they scoop it onto your plate. But, just because it's not a buffet doesn't mean it isn't one of the best places ever cause it is!
I highly recommend!!!
First time at Nana’s today, and I️ was excited to try a new soul food restaurant with my grandmother. It was relatively slow for a Sunday in my opinion, with maybe 5/6 other parties in the restaurant. I️ ordered a small dinner meal with catfish and two sides. Considering it’s fish, I️ guess their policy is to cook it per order so that it’s fresh. Very reasonable, I️ had no problem with that. HOWEVER, 20+ minutes later with no other patrons in line ordering food, and even one of their employees kept asking where was my food, I️ decided enough was enough. It definitely doesn’t take over 20 minutes to fry two pieces of fish, max 5-10 mins. I️ went to the register and asked the woman who took my order how long it would be, and her exact response was, “shaking her head and shrugging her shoulders”, as in I️ don’t know. I️ instantly asked for a refund. Two employees apologized for my poor experience, which was nice, however no manager approached me to offer me any other options, or a compensated side or diff protein for my very patient wait. PLUS, a customer who came after me and ordered fish had gotten their food and left. My grandmother was finished with her food by the time I️ even asked for a refund. Funny thing is, I️ was going to order 3 extra meals for family members who couldn’t make it out, but I️ immediately decided against that after my experience. Long story short, I️ won’t be dining here again, and it’s unfortunate because I️ try my hardest to support Black businesses. Don’t order fish if you go here, and don’t expect great customer service!
We'd never been to this restaurant before but my husband has heard some very good things about this place so we went ahead and ordered a large plate and small plate and sweet potato pie from this place through Postmates thinking that it would be enough to feed both of us plus our small child. Flavor wise, we were blown away but price-wise and portion-wise we were a little disappointed. The sweet potato pie on the menu said 4.99, when we got it it was only a small slice of pie. It didn't state on the menu that we would only be getting one small slice (otherwise we wouldn't have spent 5 dollars for a slice) so we were under the impression that it would be a whole small pie--especially for that price. The smothered pork chop, while delicious, was very small, same for the chicken and the ribs. Everything tasted delicious it was just disheartening to be out of 40+ dollars and unsatisfied. I wish the prices or portions could be adjusted a small plate and a large plate shouldn't come with the same exact portion sizes and shouldn't be the same price and one slice of pie definitely shouldn't be 5 dollars.
This was good home cooking fast. Staff was friendly and efficient. It was set up cafeteria style. We ordered small plates which consisted of 1 meat choice, 2 sides, a choice of roll or cornbread and a beverage. There are also a kids plate and large plate options. When we are in the area, we will definitely dine here again.
I had lunch at Nana's today. I was hoping for a great southern cooked meal; unfortunately, that's not what I got.
There was great customer service but horrible food. If the service wasn't good, I'd give them a single star. I ordered baked chicken, mac n cheese, collard greens and a roll.
Notwithstanding the lunch price ($$$), the food was awful. The key ingredient in everything was sugar. There was an overabundance of sugar in my COLLARD GREENS - yuck. The mac n cheese must have been sitting beside the sugar dispenser also. The chicken was decent for taste but not for the price. Lastly the ice tea was a recipe for diabetes.
I don't mind paying for good southern cooking but clearly these recipes were less southern and taste more like a fellow New Yorker's stab in the dark at "Soul Food".
The other guest in my party (4) enjoyed the yams and the smothered chicken but did NOT finish their meal. I didn't have the opportunity for enjoyment and they won't get the opportunity for me return.
Being from the south, I have high expectations of soul food restaurants. Unfortunately, this restaurant didn't live up to my standards of soul food. It seems like the only options of meat were chicken, you could get pork chops or fish made to order though. The mac n cheese is HORRIBLE, it's comparable to Kraft. The potato salad taste store bought....and it's expensive for what you get. I'm writing this review after the second time of me visiting this establishment. My first experience at Nanas was 2 years ago....and it was the same as this one.
Way over priced $ 11.00 for 1 small pork chop a small scoop of potato’s same with the greens and not real soul food where’s the fatback small portions. I’ve learn my lesson always check reviews before you try out a new place
Food was tasty. Service was good. I wish them well. Just a little constructive criticism... Owner/cashier should be a little more personable. I understand it's late, and busy (consider that a blessing. Remember. That's what y'all signed up for) but one's gotta suck it up and deal with it. Especially when your customer forked over 25 bucks for a takeout meal.
The food is good but a little pricey for the portions. Customer service is lacking! Would be nice to walk in with out getting looked at like I'm bothering them for walking in. And the desserts are EXTREMELY over priced for quality. I ordered a $5 bowl(10oz), a $5 bowl, of Banana Pudding from a Soul Food restaurant only to find out that it is Vanilla pudding, 6 cookies, and 4, yes 4 Banana slices. For $5!! They have nothing on Chicken King's Banana pudding that is twice as much for a $1 less and 1000% better. The food is the only thing hittin on anything. So do not go for customer service or to get a good deal for the price.
A wonderful place for quick, "home-cooked" soul food that never fails. They've got large and small plate options, and a reasonable selection of entrees and sides (my favorites are the fried fish, fried chicken, greens and mac and cheese). Plus, most times you can get in and out of there in easily 10 minutes with a hot to-go plate.
The food was amazing, very tasteful! The customer service wasn’t the greatest. ( maybe I came in on a day day) but I will definitely try this place again when I return to the Charlotte area.
I personally love this restaurant. Yes, the food speaks for itself. Yet, they have a way of being very friendly without an overwhelming sense of friendliness which can come across insincere. I have ordered a variation of items and they have yet to disappoint. Yes, the prices are slightly above average yet we obviously have accepted these rates and will continue to if the quality of the food stays consistent. Keep up the amazing work you guys and thank you!
Very clean eating environment. The staff were very courteous, besides the server (who often acted as if she was doing us a favor by providing us with service for which we were paying). Other than that, the experience was rather fair. Nobody's perfect, I highly recommend this business. Great food!
Top notch, first real soul food ever and it did not disappoint. Had the fried chicken and ribs, not one bit dry and was so savory and flavorful. I had it before my flight and it was a solid choice.
Customer service could use some serious work. The gentleman working the line looked bothered that I was there. I am a first time customer, so I would have appreciated a smile and warm greeting. He mumbled most of the way and I just ended up ordering the first thing I saw.
Food was phenomenal. A bit pricey considering the poor customer service. Cheesecake was overpriced for the quality.
I'll definitely come back for the food!
My family and I wanted some good soul food. It was suggested to try this spot. Wow! I was so amazed. I always like to check if the place look clean and inviting...and it was. Now let me tell you about the food...Delicious! You will not be disappointed. The flavors and quantity are definitely on point. You gotta to come and try it. The catfish is the bomb!!! When I have out of town guests, they will be eating here. Why waste time in the kitchen with a place like this!!💯💯
I was in the area for work and wanted lunch and searched this place came up as close by. Listen if you are looking for real soul food this is the spot. It’s near the airport. They offer many options from seafood to chicken to beef. The sides are great and I love the fact they offer meatless options. The peach cobbler is awesome definitely try it if that’s a desert you like.
Awesome comfort food. Curry chicken, jerk chicken, BBQ chicken all delicious. Definitely worth the price. Portions are actually good. Ambiance nice. Will be visiting back for some more.
I am currently sitting here eating as we speak! I give this restaurant a 5 star completely based on their food!! The greens are so amazing!!! I also loved the cabbage and the curry chicken! It all is well seasoned with an amazing flavor! The cornbread is sweet and i recommend this place to everyone who wants a home cooked meal! The only criticism i can offer is the staff could be a little nicer and smile 😁. However Augustine the cashier was wonderful and you could tell he loved his job! Good job!!
This was the first time that my family and I visited Nana's soul food. The food was delicious, but the portion sizes weren't worth the money you spend. You have two options a small, where you can get a traditional one meat and two sides for 11.99 and you have a large portion for 17.99 which includes two meats and two sides. So a customer would be paying and extra $6 for one extra meat. Which is a bit pricey for the small portions that we received on our visit today. I'm not taking anything away from the taste of the food, as i said before it was good, but I've had some of the best soul food from a small restaurant in Lancaster county where it's all you can eat including desserts for less than $20 dollars a person
A decent place to get some soul food. Food Service is cafeteria style. Getting in line taking a tray and plastic ware, then making your food selections at each station. Nothing fancy. Moderately priced. You pay at the end of the line, then find your own place to sit in the dining room or outside. Nana's does offer catering.
Went with some of my associates after church. First time there and it was good food. It was packed upon entry trying to get in. I had curry chicken and cabbage. It was seasoned good and was hot. They have allot of options and I like. The only bad thing it had was an old mop water smell.
Awesome customer service. Food was made fresh to order and the dessert (chocolate cake) was like no other. It was like eating at moms house away from home. The BEST soul food restaurant in the Charlotte area hands down, period! It was definitely crowded but the service and staff made the line move quickly. Will definitely recommend this place to family, friends, coworkers and anyone else looking for some down south home cooking. The food reminded me of Bruh Man from "Martin." Forget about "KFC" finger licking good, this food was so good you almost get carried away and bite your hand off. The quality and quantity of the food definitely made the wallet happy!
My 82 year old Uncle from South Carolina wanted some of that good ole southern cuisine. We choose this place because they hang their hat on being a place for good soul food.
I had the baked chicken, string beans, candied yams (sweet potatoes), and corn bread with a sweet tea. My uncle had the same dish as well. The food was decent but I was expecting more soul. That soul of the south. The only thing that tasted like soul food was the sweet potatoes. Without saying a word to my uncle said the exact same thing.
Needless to say we were a little disappointed.
I have to give this place 3 stars
Man when I tell you this is by far the best Soul Food spot I’ve ever been to! My family enjoyed everything we had it was delicious. The service was great as well! I will definitely be making a trip back to Charlotte just for Nana’s Soul Food!!! If your looking for good food, great set and deserts hit this spot up!
Too full to type! Best place ever, wish I had a place like this in California. Very friendly staff, and the food is excellent. They cook their greens pork free and that’s 5 stars be itself. Even my boys got full, and those guys can EAT! Ijs
FANTASTIC.. Small local place.. dedicated staff.. GREAT FOOD. I had the BBQ chicken sweet potatoes and collard greens. Everything was off the charts good. 11 out of 10. The yams we're flavorful and delicious the chicken was moist. The collards were great too. Can't recommend this place enough. The staff were helpful friendly and really looked like they enjoyed their job. It was clean and a great value. I will be coming here again definitely. Yum.
The employees and food make this place special. They care. The manager is a wonderful lady with a huge heart. The food is delicious. Try the catfish, sweet potatoes and tomato cucumber salad. You will be thrilled. I went back 2 days in a row.
Best collard greens I have ever tried! The fish is made to order. Everything was on point. The food is a bit pricey but man is it tasty!!! I can eat a bowl of their greens with nothing else. The yams were a bit more watery than I'm used to but everything was so fresh and well seasoned. Can't take my mind off those greens.
There were 5 of us, we tried a variety of things... Everything was great!
My first time trying catfish, I loved it! Sweet Potato pie & peach cobbler were also very yummy.
Everybody was so friendly too. :0)
The food was pretty good but not spectacular. You will end up with descent southern cooking. The fried chicken was good but need more spices. The Mac and cheese was above average. The decor of the place was similar to a cafeteria. They have some outdoor seating also.
First time visiting here. The speed of service is great, the food is delicious and flavorful. However, my cornbread was cold. That's my only complaint. The price is reasonable for the amount of food they give.
The food here is good and most of the items have the southern taste. Unfortunately the stuffing is poorly seasoned and the collards, cabbage and mac n cheese are not very good. The ribs and chicken are very good and cooked to perfection. The staff are very friendly but I hate that some workers give u one piece of meat and other days a worker will give you 2 pieces. The food is reasonably priced and they offer daily specials! I will be dining here again maybe next time I will try something different
I am taken an enjoyable break before I finish this Great meal. This is sooooo good I had to make a post now. I got the wonderful fried chicken, so tender with an awesome crunchy fry. The black eyed peas perfect, the Mac and cheese has a hint of smoke on it (yum) of course with great foods as this the corn bread is the icing on the cake. I can not wait to try the homemade cheese cake after I rest after this perfect meal... Thank you for your passion 💗
This was my first time going here. The food was amazing and well worth the price! You truly can't eat the whole plate because the serving sizes are so big. I'll definitely be back when I come back to Charlotte.
Just called to place a TO GO order, and the guy who answered the phone KEPT putting me on hold when I would tell him what I wanted. I really had a taste for soul food and wanted it from Nana’s but whoever he is definitely ruined it for the restaurant as a whole. Can’t deal with people or companies that don’t hold their employees accountable for proper customer service. Especially with something as little as taking orders over the phone. I understand it can get busy, but it doesn’t take forever to do an order over the phone. Horrible
