How would you rate Cajun Queen Restaurant?
Great food, awful customer service. Sat by the bar and after almost 10 minutes of no one acknowledging me neither the bartender which looked at me a couple times nor the staff that walked pass me I had to go downstairs and ask for a table. Food was great as always but then asked the waiter to bring me my check since I was in a hurry to get back to work. Waited almost 10 minutes then he said the check will be right out when he then turned around and proceeded to take another tables order who had a party of 7. The other waitress on the floor had already cleared 3 tables that got there after me. The waiter returned with the bill and instead of running my card went to another table to take their order. I was fed up and went to the manager which he never apologized and instead made excuses on to-go orders taking a long time and backing the kitchen up. I have been to Cajun Queen a few times but this was my last. When a manager never apologizes and instead says "let's get you checked out of here" is when I take my business elsewhere.
This place is great. My food may have been a touch salty and spicy, but I would much rather have slightly over seasoned than bland. It was great! Crawfish Dianne and Chicken Dianne are fantastic. Great fried green tomatoes and pretty good bread. Plus the location is awesome too and staff was very friendly. Highly recommend this to anyone. They give HUGE portions so you may be able to share!
Came to charlotte for C.I.A.A. This was one of our best meals while in charlotte. We pretty much ordered the entire meal and shared it all family style... It was pretty dope. Cant wait to come back
Had dinner on 4-4-15 with three other people, had reservations, came early, but was seated right away. Fried pickle started the evening and was very good. We tried the Diane entree with chicken and was good, sauce a little watery. Good portions. Etouffee with crawfish, chicken, shrimp was ok, but nothing great. Roux ( sauce) was bland, small sausage was added, but crawfish was to small to taste, chicken was soft, tender, shrimp was on the hard side due to size (small at best). Overall, service was very good (Brandon). Having eaten in New Orleans you cant compare this to that, but its not New Orleans. Would go again. Plan on spending at least 25.00 per person ( without booze).
Have eaten here several times over the last year. Food good, Service good, Parking sucks. My big issue is with the crawfish.... its from China. Ok, its February and LA crawfish are scarce this early in the season. But they are always from China here. Even Razoos has crawfish from LA most of the time. So I have to order shrimp etouffee, (shrimp from the gulf) SHRIMP!!!!! etouffee...... makes me mad just to type it. No good crawfish = 3 star max for a "Cajun" restaurant.
Very nicely appointed establishment with awesome food! We made a reservation at 8:00pm and was seated on time. The waitress was very friendly and down to earth, bringing us food that was to die for. The BBQ shrimp appetizer was unbelievably good, so good we took the broth home!
You will not be dissapointed!
The atmosphere is great and the band was wonderful. As for the food, the fried green tomatoes were phenomenal while the shrimp n grits were bland.... The service we recieved deserves no more than 2 stars. The hostess during our visit tonight was rude. And our server Melissa started off well but after we got our food she never came to check on us but she made sure to check on the table beside us twice. I find that to be very rude. The others servers and wait staff were not welcoming. I work as a server at a far less fancy restaurant and our service is way better. It felt as though we were not wanted. Therefore I will probably not visit again.... I wish we had read these reviews before we decided to visit because every issue we had was clearly stated here. After the amount of "bad service" reviews they have you'd think they would rehire staff and stress that they deliver better service. This makes me think that the management is just as slack as the service.
I have been here many times. I raved about this place and took a guest with me on 8/15/2015 for an 8:15pm reservation. We were excited, especially since we had a Groupon deal.
Let's just say that there was nothing Cajun Queenly about the food we were served. I had the all three etouffee and he had the shrimp and grits. The etouffee had absolutely ZERO spices to it. It was very bland. Everything in the dish was underwhelming. The shrimp on his shrimp and grits were overcooked. The grits were tasteless. When our waiter asked was everything okay, we replied that it was not very good. His reply was to simply state that there were two cooks and the one on staff that night wasn't really great with seasoning the food. Our plates weren't picked up in a timely manner and our refills weren't filled regularly.
The food and the service was underwhelming at best. I am not pleased at all. My guest was not pleased as well. A very bad impression was set for his first time there.
The only good thing about the evening here was the complimentary valet parking. I can see why it was pretty much empty on a Saturday evening if this is the type of food & service that is being given.
Our waitress (Melissa) was really nice with a great attitude, but towards the end she didn't check on us and took forever to bring our checks. My meal (The Diane) was delicious! My seafood gumbo could have had a little more seasoning but I was left satisfied. The only problem was when I asked one of the male waiters what time does the kitchen close he lied and told me it was already closed. When they had 45 more minutes before the restaurant closed smh I'm not too sure if I would try this place again.
Great food, awful customer service. Food was great as always then asked the waiter to bring me my check since I was in a hurry to get back to work. This place is pretty good. Cajun food is my favorite, so I'm a pretty harsh critic when it comes down to it.
I started off with a BBQ shrimp appetizer, which had a great flavor, but the shrimp was a bit overcooked. I also got a cup of gumbo, which I was very unimpressed with. Something was off with the flavor. Maybe I caught a bad batch of it, but I won't be ordering that again.
For my dinner I had the etouffee trio with crawfish, chicken, and shrimp. The chicken was amazing. Perhaps the best I have ever had. It was very tender and the flavor was awesome. The shrimp and crawfish were pretty darn good too. I also tried some of the blackened catfish, which was cooked perfectly, but the seasoning on it was nothing special. Luckily they had two of my favorite beers to wash it down with, Abita Golden and Purple Haze.
I like how the restaurant is laid out. It has a nice ambiance to it, and looks great both inside and out. The prices are a little expensive, but you do get a good amount of food, so I would say overall it's worth it. If I had the option, I would have given it a 4.5 / 5 rating, but they definitely have some things to improve upon if they want to reach 5/5.
Food was really good. Service was good on the inside but the valet outside was awkward. Guy didn't seem to know what he was doing and it wasn't busy. Would return but only with the Groupon that us advertised a lot. It's a bit on the pricey side.
Real good portion sizes and the food was fresh and delicious. Atmosphere was very welcoming.
The Cajun Queen is my favorite place to eat on special occasions. Sadly my experience on Valentines Day this year was less than stellar. I know it was a holiday and it was busy, but just the same I expected better, especially when I spent over a hundred dollars for two people. There were a lot of things that didn't really go well. For starters after ordering our dinners appeared BEFORE our salad orders. So that had to be sent back. The waiter did get us salads, and told us he would have the dinners re-made fresh. Quite honestly my dinner looked to be warmed over when it arrived the second time; not the waiter's fault, but not impressive. During the whole time the staff kept miss-delivering dinners and explaining it was because they had set out extra tables due to the holiday. Again, it showed a lack of preparation for the holiday. Aside from dinner I made a specific request to have a side of Craw fish Ettoufe` (apologize for the spelling) packaged to go. This is my favorite dish and I planned it for lunch the next day. When I unwrapped it at home it was 3/4 rice and very little of the actual craw fish and sauce. For half the price of an entree, I expected better. Finally, after asking for coffee and a desert menu, I was disappointed when the coffee appeared with my bill, not the desert menu. Overall, and understanding we were there on a holiday, I ended up very disappointed on this occasion. Understanding it was Valentine, it is still quite clear that the staff needs to refocus on the customer and the entire experience. Again, the Queen is my favorite establishment in Charlotte, but on this night, they missed the mark ... badly ...
Parking was a pain. Wait staff were rude and inattentive. Food was OVER priced and not that great. Disapointing.
The food was good and spicy. I ordered the 1/2 Fried Oysters appetizer and Etouffee 3way and my date had the Crawfish Etoufee. I originally wanted to try to the New Orleans Platter but they were out of catfish, (yeah, I know a cajun restaurant without catfish smh...) I had bread pudding for dessert and it was GOOD! Seating was not the best, but overall a good experience.
As I walked through the door and was greeted by the hostess I could barely tell I was still in NC. I could hear the jazz music playing in the background and I felt like I had just stepped off the streets of Nawlin's into one of it's restaurants. I ordered the Creole with Chicken, Shrimp & Crawfish. That dish did not disappoint. If you're looking for a taste of New Orleans then definitely stop on in to the Cajun Queen.
Very tasty food . Fast courtious staff. Simply love cajun queen
Charming restaurant that literally makes you feel at home. Great ambiance. Feels like you're having dinner at a friends house. The seating was cozy and intimate. The food is delicious and flavorful. I ordered the blackened catfish and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. My date had the shrimp diane, which he said was wonderful. We had the bread pudding for dessert. It was good. I never had bread pudding with peaches in it. It was unique. Our waiter was friendly and took good care of us. We had a great time at Cajun Queen and we can't wait to go back again soon. The only reason I'm rating them 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the parking situation. They only had a small parking area behind the restaurant, which was full. There was nowhere to park on the street behind or in front of the restaurant.
Hands down, one of my favorite spots to eat. The wash day blues, shrimp etouffee, fried pickles and oreo cheesecake are delicious....consistently! On occasion, the service is a bit slow. Sometimes my husband and I will go on what we classify as an "off" night to avoid the crowds. Ironically these nights are the nights the service seems of be slow. It may be because the staff is shorter than on a weekend, but nonetheless I love this restaurant!
$$$ and low quality of the food in comparison to the price!
It seems the service worked for a fast-food-restaurant before. They came too often and in a short amount of time and asked things, wanted to take away the salad ...
A curry was more a kind of bouillon and the needed a long time to bring a spoon after we asked.
In the area we sat they played music anbd after a family left (birthday party) they turned it off ... felt like we were not worth it to be there and have some nice Jazz.
Nice place with a LOT MORE potencial!!!
Not a good experience. Bread was day old and when we mentioned it to the server he admitted that it was. The gumbo came out and tasted like dirty dish washer. Then we had the pork chop and the shrimp and grits. The pork chop was cooked spot on but the Barbecue sauce was very strange. The shrimp and grits were horrendous because the shrimp tasted of lighter fluid. The fried pickles were pretty good. The service was very good. For a cajun food restaurant overall very disappointing. We will not be returning.
Was great meeting with the following band andeslbwad super great,my don and wife be here often.i will be back when I visited this place again
Really enjoyed the dinner and. Band,,
Atmosphere great, staff is very attentive without being intrusive. Drink never runs dry. Food top notch. Highly recommended
Decent cajun, but the menu is not very extensive. If you make reservations, note that different rooms are more or less "romantic" depending on low-light or full-light rooms, so you can ask about getting a table in different places. Also, parking is pretty much non-existant on site, but parking across the street in the neighborhoods is plentiful.
Rolls are just bad. Water tasted like sewer. Gumbo was not at all. Tasted like it was cooked in dish water. Mostly plain rice and spegettii sauce poured over an entree. There was no flavor. We didn't have a reservation and we're frowned upon but they weren't real clear about seating. Several people I saw asked to sit outside... it was crowed... but were told no without reason. The bread pudding was out of this world good. I would recommend asking to sit in the little room to the right at the top of the steps that's where the jazz band is... if they will allow... the wait staff was friendly.
great place. usually offer groupons too. shrimps and grits is solid, and gumbo as well. worth a visit. very casual. family friendly.
Great food. Love the BBQ Shrimp appetizer. Service and bit slow.
I LOVE this place. I'm not going to lie and say it's the most inexpensive place I have ever been to, but hey, you pay for what you get. And the experience you get at this place along with the music that comes with it...it's unbeatable. The tables are a bit close for my comfort as I like my person space. But other than that, I have not one bad word to say about this place. Food, staff, décor and music are all on point.
I normally go there from out of town at least once a year. The restaurant is a house located between a park and a residential area. The atmosphere is great. Inside has the feel of an old house decorated with Louisiana influences. There's live jazz on the weekends on the second floor. It's a bit cramped, but never too much. i have always eaten the New Orleans Platter as I wanted to try several fried things at once since I could not make up my mind. The platter comes with a cup of gumbo to start. Then the platter comes out with fried oysters, shrimp, scallops and catfish. Red beans and rice are the sides. Over the years I've eaten there the quality of the food ranged from fantastic to great. This most recent time, it was good, but I've had better there. The gumbo needed some additional salt added. The red beans too needed some more seasoning. The seafood was just as good as I expected though, very fresh and melted in your mouth. I'll definitely be back as I think the gumbo and red beans needing additional salt were anomalies and definitely not the norm. This is still the best cajun restaurant I've visited. By the way, the owner, Tim is a very nice guy. He takes time to speak with you and has definitely put together a very popular place that's been around for a long time. (Pic is of the New Orleans platter. It was an earlier photo, not of my last time there, but it pretty much looks the same each time. There are more scallops and oysters and shrimp under the catfish fillet in case you were wondering).
The food was amazing, well portioned and perfectly seasoned. The added touch of live jazz and the fireplace completed the night in style! I highly recommend this place if you want something a tad bit different and laid back. Oh yeah, check out groupon for a nice coupon!
YES! This restaurant is a win for me. Alex our server delivered the personality that you'd like to get from every server. The Diane w/everything was mildly spiced and seasoned to perfection. The buffalo (not buffalo w/hot sauce but Creole style) Shrimp and the sauce that it rested in was amazing! The hubby and kids enjoyed every morsel of food. I'm ready to head back this wknd-well worth the trip from Mooresville.
Great food. Great staff. Great live jazz band. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
Great food, excellent staff. Built into an aging old house, though the back has been expanded and modernized. Drinks are potent and tasty, try the Swamp Water. Food is fantastic, really liked the fried platter and the barbecue shrimp!
Great place! The fried oysters and barbecue shrimp are the best. The mahi was outstanding and the steak was great too. Great food, great service!! Love this restaurant!
The food was really good, they weren't packed, but they were pushing to get people in and out quickly so we felt a little rushed. We always go out for restaurant week and we always try a new place. This place is really good, but I see no reason to wait for restaurant week, not that much of a deal unless you were planning to get wine and dessert in the first place. I think the atmosphere would've been better if we were there on a regular night and would've enjoyed it more. There are other restaurants nearby that are better and a better choice for restaurant week due to the savings and quality of food. Even off of restaurant week I'd give Cajun queen a 4 out of 5.
We went on restaurant week. It was so busy and yet the staff made sure everyone was taken care of. Bob S was a terrific server and very funny! The bartender was pumping out drinks for tables and still took the times to serve us while we waited on out table. The guy that filled up our Waters and took our plates even took our cocktail glasses while we waited for our table. The staff rocked that rush....keep up the fantastic work!!! The food is also excellent! The Diane is now my favorite dish!
Small and cozy restaurant. The service was friendly and oh so quick!! Food was amazing (Diane and Cajun pasta)!!! And the bread pudding... The Best! Great experience with the ambiance and the live jazz band.
Cajun Queen is by far mine and my wife's favorite place to dine in Charlotte. We don't even think twice about ordering or even look at the menu most times, just get one of the nightly fish specials, changes quite often and Always order the BBQ Shrimp for an app. Fantastic! I can taste it now. Love the Cajun Queen!
Cajun Queen is a fantastic restaurant! Having spent a cpl years down in Louisiana, finding good Cajun food is hard to find in Charlotte. Cajun Queen is as good as it gets!!! Tim and staff always do a great job at making everyone feel welcome. Keep up the good work guys!!
I have been here on numerous occasions(dinner and brunch) and always had the absolute best service! The servers and hostesses are very punctual! My favorite time to eat here is for Sunday's brunch! Spicy and flavorful bloody Mary's are the best way to start the day! They make their mix in house! My absolute favorite dish is the biscuits and gravy!!! I recommend it to everyone! Yummmy!
Took my wife here for her birthday because she loves New Orleans sytle cuisine and that "french quarter feel". ( she used to live in New Orleans and misses "home") . She completely enjoyed every aspect of it, from the restaurant being constructed from a house to the live jazz band...not to mention they also sang Happy Birthday for her and provided a complementary dessert( Key Lime Pie was divine). No complaints here, we enjoyed our evening laughing and talking with a great ambiance and live music. Only opinion... not a fan of the seafood gumbo, slightly bland compared to the other robust flavors.....I would recommend the salt and pep catfish or the blacken chicken.
First time visiting and felt very welcome. Withh a party of 8 everyone loved their food. I ordered the sampler and couldn't have been happier. Justin, our server was absolutely amazing! Must have the bourbon pecan pie!
Love the Cajun Queen! I've been going there for over 20 years. Wonderful food and service. If you don't have to deal with the lousy management you're golden!
Ok, I've been there 3 times. It's a nice environment and great for strolling the area after a good lunch! However, when I think Cajun, I think spicy. I feel it's flavor down for the masses. Still not a bad spot and prices aren't bad. Check out their Groupon deals!!!
Food and service (very attentive) was great. Music was pretty good too, although it seemed like they were doing an open mike thing for a few minutes. This is not the place for a quiet meal. Coffee was good too.
This is a true Charlotte gem. A great venue for a nice night out with your significant other. The food and service are always superb. I prefer the blackened pork chop but my wife is more partial to the etouffee. The Cajun popcorn and BBQ shrimp are great appetizers and the bread pudding is some of the best in the area. If your afraid of seafood this place has some good alternatives. If you don't like seafood or spice why are you looking at a Cajun restaurant? Call ahead or make reservations online especially on weekends!
Great Fried Shrimp combo. One of the best fried shrimp I have found in the city of Charlotte. Will be returning for more soon. Also loved the Grits.
The food is pretty good. I come here often and like several things. The cajun pasta is really good. So are the fried green tomatoes and gumbo. The price point is a bit high. I wouldn't come here without a coupon from Groupon or Living Social. I've never had a bad waitstaff experience. Please tip on the full bill, not the discount amount.
This food was amazing. I loved the atmosphere and live music also. Will definitely be back.
I didn't know what to expect because I had never had Cajun food before. I was not impressed with anything other than the service. to be more specific, the gumbo tasted too much like celery, not sure if that is what gumbo is suppose to taste like bit I was not a fan. I ordered the shrimp and grits, nothing special there, the red sauce they serve with it made my grits too soupy and didn't taste all that great, maybe I'm just not a fan of Cajun food. Service and atmosphere is nice but overall, way to pricey for some food I could probably make better at home.
Wow, that food was nice and spicy but it was do darn good! I love it, please make reservations ahead of time. Valet parking /tip. Wait staff was great, staff friendly, they sat us 10min early..
An amazing place that I only found on my last night in Charlotte, for which I am kicking myself.
Everything was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, though not as spicy as I would have liked (a very minor gripe). The food was delicious. Expect 25-35 dollars a plate, but with excellent portions. You won't leave hungry.
I had a blackened NY strip steak, and my mom had the blackened catfish - both were served with what seemed like half a head of perfectly steamed broccoli and a pile of mashed potatoes.
There's an option to for $5 add the daily talking to your fish or steak. Definitely add it. Mine was shrimp, tasso ham, and strings of pepper in a cream scampi sauce, the other one was crawfish, artichoke hearts, and sun-dried tomatoes in a lemon and tomato sauce. Totally worth it.
Food was very good the music was great, if a little loud , but we enjoyed it. the bread pudding is the bomb!!! Will definitely go again.
In some restaurants the shrimp is always over cooked but here it was cooked to perfection. I recommend the BBQ shrimp as an appetizer or an entree. The service and customer services was superb.
We just had a wonderful time here. I highly recommend this restaurant
Oh, before I go. MAKE A RESERVATION :)
The food and atmosphere is good for the prices. There is a live jazz band and they have a nice selection of drinks and food. I was a little disappointed that they did not have jambalaya, which was surprising considering it is such a Louisiana staple. I had the gumbo, which I wasn't a fan of, but I had never had gumbo so for someone who likes gumbo it might be good. I also ordered the fried pickle chips and cajun pasta which were both fantastic! My only complaint would be how there was too much sauce on the pasta dish. It seemed like more sauce, less meat and pasta.
Great food, a little piece of New Orleans in Charlotte. I had the gumbo and a Cajun pasta that was delightful. Having lived in NOLA I know the real thing and this was it. Add the free valet service and free key lime pie for my wife's birthday and the evening was perfect.
Great service, our waitress was very prompt and courteous. Our food arrived quickly and hot. She also has good advice to offer for desert. Which we took her up on. Our experience here was very good as usual. As close to authentic new Orleans style cooking as you can get without actually being there.
We went here the 1st time recently for my aunt's 70th birthday. We called ahead to reserve and asked them to bring her out a birthday dessert or something of that nature. Free valet was a plus & We were immediately sat so there was no wait. The food was not bad but it was not good either..just very bland. The waitress forgot to acknowledge my aunts birthday. My honest review is Cajun Queen is nothing to rave about. 3 star pricing 2 star food.
The restaurant blocks the sidewalk with a desk and surly parking attendants. Not to mention traffic cones where they try to prevent you from parking on a public street. After that they’re put on the sidewalk and block walkers, especially those with strollers. The food? Some of it’s pretty good. I’d like it better if they weren’t jerks to the people who live in the neighborhood.
My date and I were turned away from the restaurant at 8:45 pm by the manager for no valid reason, except the fact he decided to do just that. The hostess hesitated as we came in reached for menus but then abruptly picked up the phone to call for the manager. He came down and said sorry guys the kitchen is closed. Oh, I said online it’s says your open until 9:30, that’s why we came. He said, “where? Google?, Yelp?... Well their wrong and I’m going to have to get with them about that.” On every web search it’s reads that Cajun Queen is open until 9:30, but for some reason he was trying to convince me this is an error and, wanted me to show him where I saw, the restaurant was open until 9:30. I smiled at his poor excuses and dishonest replies as I showed him where in fact it says the restaurant is “Open” until 9:30. I’m not quite sure why he choose to turn us away but I will spread the word about this strange but motive driven decision that he made. Perhaps Cajun Queen was at their quota for the day/evening and didn’t want to serve “us”, or maybe if we looked more of what his preference in patrons are we then would have been seated and served. Maybe it’s his first day as the manager and he didn’t know what time they close and he was being honest. Just maybe..but I doubt!
Really fantastic restaurant called feel with in a large home really good food. It was like your dining in someone’s home. Service is always great. Drinks are unique. Definitely New Orleans or Cajun Feel. Parking is horrible but they do have valet
Really enjoy the food and atmosphere. Since this is in a residential area with minimal parking, the complimentary valet is wonderful. I highly recommend reservations, but there is an upstairs bar and roof top area to wait for your table. It was a cozy and romantic restaurant. Also would be good to meet up with friends. It was a quite atmosphere being in a house with the separation of rooms. Etouffe was very good but has some real heat. I got the Diane which was excellent but you need to love mushrooms and garlic to like that dish. I love crawfish and this place is where to go for them. Will he back.
Had my first visit there Friday night (Feb 9, 2018) and had an excellent experience. The live Jazz was superb and not too loud either, even sitting about 10 feet away. Menu is well sized and has options for the whole family. I order the "Wash Day Blues" a dish of red beans, rice, and sausage; flavorful beans and the andouille sausage had a perfect char. Parking is taken care of by complementary valet. Formal enough to take a date, yet casual enough to bring your weird uncle. The second level also has an outdoor seating patio.
Got the Blackened Ribeye cooked to perfection. Warm, Pink middle as requested. The mashed potatoes were warm and creamy. Broccoli was huge and cooked to perfection. This is one of my favorite, if not my favorite restaurant in Charlotte!
Fabulous birthday dinner with family. Great food, great service, very friendly staff. I've never had a bad meal in this restaurant.
Hands down the best Cajun food in the Charlotte area. Love the location and it's in an old house that has a lot of charm to it. However you don't come here for the house or the location you come here for the food. In the food is fantastic. They also have live jazz band performing at night. Its a great place to go, even if you have someone in your party that doesn't like Cajun or spicy food.
MAKE RESERVATIONS OR YOU WILL BE WAITING OR EATING STANDING UP! The food was SO good. The Chicken, shrimp, and crawfish Diane was amazing. If you want a little spice, the BBQ shrimp is amazing, although don't expect it with actual BBQ sauce. The fried shrimp was to die for. The Salmon served over mashed potatoes was delicious. I would definitely go back. There food is presentable and delicious. The tables were a little small though. The sweet tea was perfect. I'm a happy customer.
Absolutely love this place. The atmosphere is very cool and fun. The food is fantastic - shrimp & grits, gumbo, salmon, fried catfish, etc. Parking can be a bit challenging, but they have free valet during busy times.
This place is very nice, rather unique too being you can tell it was originally a house and then later converted into a restaurant. Do not be fooled, there is a lot of space inside for tables, when we went it wasn't busy at all @7pm. The food was amazing, I had the bayou platter and it was delicious and just the right amount of spicy. My girlfriend had shrimp and grits and man was it good too. We finished with an Oreo cheesecake, which too was very rich and delicious. The food is spot on, I love Cajun style food, I would highly recommend this location.
Not too expensive, but definitely tasty. The bartenders are super nice and the food options are many. On my visits, they have also had great live bands. This place is definitely a local favorite.
An excellent birthday surprise from #2. The shrimp & grits was good. Our waiter Bo was great.
5 🌟 for the 2nd time. And my daughter has a new spot 🙏
The food was FANTASTIC. You won't go wrong no matter what you order. We appreciated the complimentary valet parking. The service was good too. We'll be back when we're back in town.
I really enjoyed my time here. The food was fantastic! The music was great and we loved the atmosphere. The service was great. The room in the back is very romantic. I had Shrimp Etoufee and my husband had the Seafood Platter. Both meals were amazing! We'll definitely be back.
Good food. Our service wasn't the best, but the server working table behind us was awesome and helped us. Dessert menu needs work. Definitely recommend.
We we're tucked in a tiny corner, but they managed to keep the table clear and there was somehow enough room for us to sit. Our server started rocky but got the timing down as the night went on. The food was A+ number 1 Duke of New York good. I got the blackened ribeye and it was perfect. We sampled the gumbo, the red beans and rice, the Cajun popcorn, all were excellent. 5/5 stars, do recommend.
Wow what a great spot. Hadn't been for a few years. Great service and the food was incredible. Everything was on point. Can't wait to go back.
By far one of the best places we been to here in Charlotte! The food is Devine, service is extremely professional and friendly and the music is great! New restaurant to add to our list! You won't be disappointed!!!!
I'm in love. I've had cajun food once and it wasn't memorable. Although my first experience with Cajun Queen, I'm already planning a trip back. The staff was super attentive and kind. My waitress was able to explain the different variations in detail and was super helpful. I am one of those people who suck down water quickly and my glass stayed full. My friend and I were both happy with our dishes and trying each others food I am confident saying that this wasn't a one shot deal. The spice level was right my shrimp were tender and everything came out hot. The desserts were also complex and rich. Love, love, love.
This is one of our favorite places! The food was as great as always. The fried green tomatoes were absolutely perfect. Our main courses were very delicious. (I recommend the etouffee!) Last night I tried the bourbon bread pudding for dessert and I had to fend off the rest of the table after they had a taste; I'll be having it again. And I must mention that the service was impeccable. And you must also enjoy the live music every night. Well worth every penny.
Parking is tight here, but at least there's a complimentary valet. The fact that the restaurant is essentially a big house gives the place a different kind of vibe, but I felt it worked well with the theme of the place. Couldn't get seating on the upstairs patio, but I think that's where the best seating is. The food was really good quality. Definitely worth a visit.
The food here is phenomenal, if you want a true Cajun dining experience this is the spot. Immediately upon arriving we were offered free valet parking, and had almost no wait when we entered with no reservation. The waiter was incredibly helpful, giving recommendations for what meals and drinks fit my palate. It has a very cozy atmosphere despite having a high class feel with a great view of the trees out the window. The live performance by the jazz musicians also complemented the atmosphere rather than sounding disruptive.
I've heard good things about this place and finally got the chance to try it. I love the place. Not usual restaurant set up. Free valet (at least when we went on a Thursday). The food was amazing. Good portions too. Shrimps and scallops were big. Service was good. Definitely going back.
My sons took me here to celebrate my birthday and we enjoyed ourselves! The service was friendly and prompt. The atmosphere was laid back and inviting and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! We all ordered different dishes which allowed us to sample various selections. All three were perfect! If you're in Charlotte and looking for New Orleans cuisine, this is the place to go!
We had our rehearsal dinner here and it was everything we wanted it to be and more. Staff was courteous and efficient, food was phenomenal, and the drinks kept coming! Highly recommended for any occasion.
Salt and pepper catfish was terrific. Chicken diane was very good, perfectly spiced. Portions were excellent. Live music added to the experience. Justin our waiter was very knowledgeable and gave good suggestions. Complimentary valet parking was a plus. Very quaint restored home. Would definitely go back again.
Yum! Need I say more? The food is delicious and we had a great waiter! He was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to make customized suggestions based on what we each were wanting. The bread pudding is a MUST HAVE! There's also live jazz music. Definitely a fun and tasty spot for date night.
Went on a Saturday evening after work. The restaurant was fairly busy and there was a bit of a wait. I will tell you that the experience was well worth the wait! The food was amazing, the waiter was amazing and the ambiance was perfect. Food came out rather quickly as well.
Definitely recommend this restaurant!
Cozy restaurant. Very good place to go to impress your date. Expect Cajun style meals. Liked the homey and cozy feel. Will be going back for many more .
Changed restaurants last minute for my party. The staff was more than accommodating. Food was amazing. Fernando, our waitress was phenomenal! Highly satisfied with Cajun Queen. Will be returning very soon.
When ever I have family or friends in town I make it a point to bring them to Cajun Queen. The atmosphere is very nice, the wait staff excellent and the food amazing. Definitely sit on the 2nd level for live jazz. Highly recommend!
My favorite restaurant in Charlotte! My husband and I had our first date at the bar upstairs. We even ate there with my family after our wedding festivities (and we try to go for our anniversaries, too). No, it’s not all spicy and the staff are quite helpful if you need help picking. The building is a show-stopper: it’s an old house. We like to sit downstairs by the fireplace. 10/10
We absolutely loved everything we had at Cajun Queen. I had the crawfish etouffee and it was fantastic. Just the right amount of spice, perfect ratio of...read this and 636 more
