This is a phenomenal and wonderful B&B located on the south side of Chicago. We hosted my sister's wedding party here as well as stayed here for three days and we had a great time. The breakfast was fabulous and the decor was beautiful. The location is somewhat unusual - either be prepared to drive, or to use the conveniently located public transportation to head into the more traditional parts of Chicago tourism. I would highly recommend going here.

Words cannot express the likability of this HIDDEN gem in the Southside. Both hosts, Mell and Angie, were welcoming right from the start. They are one of the most gracious and thoughtful people I have come across in my life. I was more than pleased with my stay and the hosts' service. The breakfast on both days were very palatable and scrumptious. Due to this experience, I will more than likely to return to this B&B. I highly recommend this B&B for your stay!!

Welcome Inn Manor is a WONDERFUL place to stay! The accommodations were incredible, including a luxurious bed, Jacuzzi tub, spa-style shower, and historic decor. The location was perfect, nestled inside a historic neighborhood just a few miles away from all the downtown museums and attractions. Mell cooked a huge, incredible homemade breakfast each morning, according to guests' schedules, and offered complimentary shuttle service to downtown attractions. We really felt more like we were staying with old friends than at a B&B. My husband and I loved the personal feel of Welcome Inn Manor, and we would stay there again in a heartbeat if traveling to Chicago in the future.

We stayed in the Nat King Cole Suite for our honeymoon in September. As this was our first B&B experience, we didn't really know what to expect. But when I called Mell before booking and asked some general questions, I just had a gut feeling that this was the place to stay. I can't begin to say how much we enjoyed our trip because of our stay at Welcome Inn Manor. The bedroom was beautiful and incredibly spacious, and the adjoining bath with Jacuzzi tub, fireplace, and large shower with dual shower heads was even more luxurious than the pictures show. Mell and Angie were the perfect hosts, making us feel as though we had all known each other for years. They shuttled us to whatever downtown location we asked each morning, and every place we went based upon their recommendation was well worth our time. Mell cooked a delicious breakfast each morning, and the dining room and common areas downstairs were so inviting that it felt like home (only more relaxing thanks to Mell and Angie's taste in decorating and perfectly kept atmosphere). We will definitely be back and would recommend Welcome Inn Manor without hesitation! Thanks for making our honeymoon so special and memorable!!

We spent a few days last week at the Welcome Inn Manor bed and Breakfast. We chose the location because it had spacious common area and in proximity of the things we wanted to do which included the Shedd Aquarium, Planetarium, Museum of science and Industry and more, including getting a good Chicago Pizza. We were pleased with the price and also the fact that we traveled by car and did not have to pay extra for free street parking. This was a big savings in itself. The other reviews are right about the great food and left out that Mell remains humble about it. You truly feel welcomed and appreciated it. Next time we will not have to search since I know where we will stay. Thank you Mell and Angie.

Complete satisfaction by the customer and exemplary customer service are the key elements displayed by the proprietors and staff at the Welcome Inn. The warm, welcoming atmosphere made my weekend with friends one I will never forget. My friends and I were completely comfortable and relaxed in this wonderful atmosphere. Barbecued on the deck and just sat around the house enjoying the ambiance and company of the other guests. Just like home! AND, within a very short drive to Lake Michigan and downtown Chicago. I have already recommended the Welcome Inn to several other friends and family. Moreover, their hospitality and ability to help you relax and enjoy the many facets of Chicago is second to none.
We rented the entire 3rd floor and enjoyed it immensely. Nicely decorated with great accents. And with the mini-bar and TV up there were quite comfortable.
From the marvelous home decorations and furnishings to the outstanding breakfast meals, I know that I will be back! BTW, if you want to do anything in Chicago just ask them for advice or recommendations, and you will be impressed with their knowledge.
Cheers!

I came to Chicago on business and stayed at Mell and Angie's Bed and Breakfast for five days. Mell always had a great breakfast and dropped me off in downtown exactly when I needed to be there. In the evening I would take the "L" back to their neighborhood where it was about a three block walk from the station. Next time I go back to Chicago I will certainly stay here again.

I had the pleasure of staying at Welcome Inn Manor for several nights in the month of November. I was truly impressed by the level of comfort and hospitality during my stay. The innkeeper (Mel) was friendly and made me feel at home when I arrived. His commitment to making sure that guests have a great stay is what I loved most about Welcome Inn Manor. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast if you wish to stay in the area.

BVIC or Bronzeville Visitor's Information Central is the heritage tourism site for African American and Black Chicago History. During the Black Migration 35th & King Drive was the heart of Bronzeville or the Black Belt. The BVIC is located in a historical building, the Supreme Life Building. This is the same building in which John H. Johnson founded Ebony/ Jet Magazine. This building also houses the Phillip Jackson Black Star Project and the restaurant Mississippi Rick's or Rick's Munchies, and Black-owned Seaway Bank.

Located in the historic neighborhood which bears its name, the center is really an important stop for all those who are looking to learn more about Bronzeville. The very building itself is historic: the former Supreme, Life insurance building. Lots of information on how the neighborhood has been created informed. Please pay attention to business hours as they can sometimes be a bit tricky.
