Revolutionary War veterans Robert and James Bratton, built this home and defeated the British advance on these premises; this state historic site now features costumed Living History interpreters, a cotton field and farm animals; though there have been renovations, the plantation best showcases its heritage when Bratton and Cathcart slave descendants return for their shared family reunion

This museum is very kid friendly! A very fun, interactive place to visit. Our kids loved spending 4 hours there. There is also a gift shop. We will visit again sometime! I highly recommend thus museum for kids and adults.
This isn't the largest natural history museums, but it is one of the best laid out and most interactive I've seen. It is loads of fun for children and adults. My daughter loves to pick out insect, fish, and rock samples from the many cabinets available for individual exploration. Animal pelts that children can touch are also a big hit. There is a planetarium whose showings are included with the price of admission. There's even a few young children's play areas available to round out the fun.
VERY INTERESTING***** Great displays. We were visiting the area and pleasantly surprised to find this treasure!
If you live in the Rock Hill area, and you have never been to this museum, then you are missing out on what the area has to offer. I was impressed by the selection of animal displays. There were some animals I had never even heard of before! The lady working in that area was encouraging people to explore and touch, so it was very interactive - which is important for children (and adults). It would make a great family fun day!
Visited many museums in recent years with kids, but this is a hidden gem. This place has wide range of artifacts kids can interact with.
This is an amazing place with so much to learn for all ages. It would be five stars if they could get the air working correctly. It has been a long time that it has been only half working. At least they keep a sign up as a warning. The staff are always amazingly friendly and helpful. I love that they have the play areas as well. The little ones can get some play time while also learning like the big kids.
For a small country museum, I was impressed. When I took my son, they had a dinosaur exhibit. Please do not think there were giant fossils or anything else you would expect from a museum in a big city, but it was cute for my 3 year old. They had 2 different dinosaur mazes. This is where you answered questions about dinosaurs to get through the maze successfully. They had 'dinosaur feet' the kids could put on and walk on a memory foam mattress to make tracks. There were lots of small dinosaur toys to play with as well. There is a room that is a permanent fixture that kids can play in. He really liked this room a lot! We spent an hour in there. There are also large taxidermy animals at one end, which were interesting for my little guy. We spend about 3 hours here. Since we have a membership at the Children's Museum, we also got in here for free.
We stop here with our family often and our daughter really enjoys it. You can get access to this museum with a season pass that also gives you access to some other locations.
Free the first Sunday of Every month. Lot's of taxidermy. My kids were bored, but hey, it was free!
free on sundays. traveling exhibit room, which are usually good. several animal and fossil rooms, and a nice planetarium and kids play room.
A Smithsonian Affiliated Museum tucked away in a semi-rural area of York County South Carolina. I was totally blown away with the quality of exhibits and dioramas. A must see for every school child. For teachers or home schooling moms, you will be amazed and delighted with this informative and educational museum - moderately price admission.
Very interesting. Great venue for the kids!
My daughter loved it
Nice place for the kids
This was a fun place to visit and if you like animals this is the place. You can see the history of South Carolina Animals and so much more. This is a fun place for the kids and you can spend hours of quality family fun.
Hard to keep a whole class interested for a long period of time. I personal don't care for taxidermy. But they were tastefully done.
What a treasure to find the planetarium was awesome and the museum just made me want to spend more time than we had there was so much to see and so much to do in the Hands-On area we just could not get enough of
For not being a large institution there is a lot packed into this museum. The exhibits are fun and educational and if you can, plan your visit around a planetarium event. Very fun!
Its a great place for lovers of history and science. Current Smokey bear exhibits are great for kids however the rest of the museum could use some up to date changes. Maybe some technology?
Excellent homeschool program. Great place to visit and many great resources!
I can't believe it took us two years to visit! So fun, we're going back tomorrow!
What a pleasant surprise! The museum looks kind of plain outside. Don't let that keep you from visiting this awesome place. The inside will amaze!
I was surprised how hands on and kid friendly the museum was. They have their own play room just for kids, as well as interesting exhibits for the whole family.
I take my kids here every six months and they enjoy it every time !
Great museum with plenty of hands on fun for kids. Very educational with some interactive play rooms as well!
Wonderful place in York County, SC. This is a museum which focuses on wildlife, particularly stuffed specimens. For me, the highlight of the tour was the Naturalist Center, which has interactive exhibits as well as very impressive specimens, including: polar bear, giraffe, giant land sloth.
Was not able to use the planetarium, but will definitely take advantage of in the future. Also two very nice ares for young children to play.
Fun for a few hours. Don't forget to visit the nature trail.
My kids have fun here everytime we go. Lots of ways to use their imagination but they also live the animal exhibits as well!
An amazing collection of African animals and a good hand on natural history exhibit. Friendly staff and a nice gift shop. Add a nice art exhibit and planetarium.
Always visited once a year when I was growing up, it's a great place to go with your family for a day trip. My absolute favorite is the planetarium! Makes learning fun.
Very cool if you like to learn about animals and their natural habitats. Our 5 year old loves it here and there is a cute play area for younger children.
This is our new favorite museum and definitely worth the drive from Charlotte. We watched the planetarium show and looked through the dioramas and interactive educational exhibits with our boys (ages 6 and 8) and practically had the place to ourselves on a weekday afternoon. Their favorite part was the extensive collection of natural artifacts like bird eggs and bones, animal jaws and furs, and rock and mineral samples. The staff was wonderful. Seriously the best we've encountered anywhere. They were knowledgeable and helpful, and spoke well with the kids, engaging with them in a way strangers almost never accomplish.
A great place to go on field trips, and I love seeing new exhibits every time I go! Overall, it really is a great place.
Nice collection of wildlife specimens from around the world. They have a replica of a giant sloth. Free on Sundays.
This hidden gem is such a fun place for kids and adults! So much to learn and look at! I loved the interactive things in each room.
