How would you rate The Beehive?
I love this bar. It's great for work outings or just meeting up with friends for a drink after work. They have fun cocktails and awesome beer. Splitting some appetizers is always good (Expensive but delicious and very splittable). Great stuff for vegetarians, too.
The music starts a bit later in the evening, but they have live jazz music going on every time I've been there.
If you're going for dinner/brunch you may want a reservation.
Brunch is my favorite. Live jazz and great, hearty, options. Awesome cocktails, too!
Love it here, although I've had some extremely rude bartenders (or rather my coworkers did) which kind of spoiled some of the evening.
Our friends wanted to retry the Beehive experience. Great atmosphere. Upstairs bar was crowded at 7:30. The downstairs bar has more space. I think the ambiance is the draw. Our dishes were good. The music is lovely, but it seems that no one is listening except the people waiting for a table.
At our brunch, the French toast had the positive quality of being nicely moist w/ real maple syrup + chantilly cream, but the negative of oiliness resulting from excessive frying to make the corn flake crust crusty. The eggs shakshuka was pretty good with tomatoes, poached eggs and polenta, but the sausage was oddly flavored. The fried beignets were very good inside but overfried outside. The coffee was excellent. The service was very friendly.
I expected just another "trendy" bar, but was very surprised with both the food and the drinks at Beehive! My cocktail contained my three favorite ingredients- vodka, blood orange, and passion fruit- and although it could have been shaken a bit more, the flavors were incredible. For dinner I opted for the grilled cheese with short rib, cheddar, and fontina. The bread was thick and flavorful, and it was oozing with short rib and cheese; they did not skimp on ingredients! Frites with sage and sea salt rounded out the meal. They were crispy and cooked to perfection, although they could have used a bit more sage flavor. I am looking forward to going back for brunch.
Speakeasy feeling spot that is a visual and audio banquet. Educated servers direct you towards delectable creations. Creative drinks, live music is great - I would definitely recommend making your weekend reservation well in advance however.
Also - make sure to get dessert.
The Beehive is a well-known brunch spot in the South End. I will definitely give it the credit it deserves for brunch and also a shout out for dinner. I had the most amazing asparagus salad there a few summers ago. I try to recreate it, but it's never as good. Went there for brunch recently (Tip: call ahead and make reservations! I went once without reservations and they basically laughed at us. We ended up lucking out and getting seats at the bar downstairs and were able to order off the full brunch menu, but you have to be ok with sitting at the bar). The food and drinks were great (get the Pierogi appetizer! they have lots of delicious bubbly cocktails!) but the server was clearly not in the mood to be working as a server. I went with a friend who I haven't seen in a looong time, and actually the host who was positioned outside was a GEM and could tell I was excited to see my friend, so I was hoping that our server would be on a similar wavelength. Alas, he was not. Maybe he was just having a bad day?
Great ambiance with jazz music, not so great food.
I had the short rib grilled cheese, and it was lacking a lot of flavor. I could barely taste the cheese, the short rib was dry, and the toast was way too thick. My friend's dishes (eggs benedict) was lukewarm and she said It really didn't taste that great.
Looking for live music, low key environment, and a cozy space? Then The Beehive is it! I find live music to be a little loud but this space works well. The downstairs bar is nice, the room is bigger and divided into two parts, tables near the band, and tables away from the band. The upstairs is tight but good place to grab a quick drink while waiting for a table. The food is good and so are the drinks. Come for a chill time.
The Beehive is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Boston. I always recommend that visitors to Boston visit this place in the South End. The food and cocktails are always good and they frequently change the menu. The ambiance on the patio, bar, and downstairs is great for a date or with friends. And there's usually a Jazz band playing downstairs at night and during brunch. They really do everything right and I find myself visiting more than any other restaurant in Boston.
Went here for a date night..... couldn't have picked a better place. Cool atmosphere for any age group. Supports local artists by exhibiting their work on the wall. Always excellent jazz to add to scene.
House beer, great cocktails and a fantastic food! I have gone back many times since my date night and they never disappoint.
I recommend the craft gin martini, the cheese perogies and the cassoulet.
If making reservation, make sure you are there for a jazz performance. You won't want to miss out.
A jazzy scene with phenomenal food. The jazzy musicians, charming waiters/waitresses, cozy tables, and eclectic food items produce a winning combination!
Really nice, especially if you are seated downstairs. Convenient to reserve a table via Opentable. The short rib eggs Benedict were pretty good. I just wished that my eggs were a little more runny after being poached.
Perfect date night location. Upscale yet low key atmosphere, unique decor, live jazz music, and delicious food paired with efficient and perfectly timed service (our entrees came out just minutes after we finished the appetizer), make it an awesome location.
The first set of jazz music that starts earlier in the evening was super low key and quieter, making it possible to have conversation at the table even if you were sitting right next to the band.
We had the mussels for an appetizer and I'm glad I shared with my friend because there were a lot! Could've been an entree size.
I had the salmon for dinner and it was a bit over cooked for my taste but still delicious and a good size portion-wise.
For drinks, I loved starting off with the refreshing Queen Bee.
It was crowded and busy in the evening on a Friday - definitely recommend making a reservation.
Made a reservation online for a seat in front of the stage during the dinner time jazz ensable. Was seated within 5 minutes at a prime spot. Music was lovely, and not too loud. It accentuated the trendy atmosphere, and the amazing food. I could eat the chicken scallopinie everyday. Our waitress's drink suggestions were great as well. Will be back.
Love this place!
their signature Beer with honey after taste, artsy chic decor and live music!!!!
They also serve food but I am only rating this place for my night life experience.
There are two floors. First floor was less crowded on a Friday night when we arrived around 9:30ish. The bottom floor where the live music was more crowded with different kinds of peeps (old, young, white, Asians, etc).
Great spot! I was there for brunch and the bloody mary's were delicious, food options were great and the space and decor was fantastic. Loved the entire experience. It's a converted old street and you can see all the remnants of the old space. They had live music playing and it was a charming space. Loved the experience.
Make sure you make a reservation before coming here, it books up very quickly. The food is very good (try the short ribs and poutine). They also have really good drinks and a special honey beer that is tasty. It is more on the expensive side, but worth it for the live jazz music.
Such amazing food! Loved sitting on the patio. The staff was awesome as well!
Great music, food, and drinks! We're definitely hitting up Beehive next time we're in town.
Very rude staff. I was highly disappointed. Joe (security) in particular seemed to be on a power trip when he threatened to ask us to leave because one of us was sitting on a step in front of a table in the music area, rather than a designated chair. I have never seen a staff member be so rude to customers by default, just because they happen to be sitting in the wrong place.
They staff really started to ask whether we with my finished the meal 15 minutes since we came, and repetead it each 5 minutes, although we had a two hours reservation. It was really annoying and ruined the entire evening. In the end they just brought the bill despite the fact that we had't finished the desert yet. Otherwise the place is good. But we will not go again.
I liked the atmosphere, but this was not a great place to drink. First, if you want to sit at a table you have to pay for a full course dinner($38) and if your there to drink then you have to crowd around the only bar and can't stand near the tables! Mixed drinks were pricey too...
Very good food (poutine was awesome), drinks were delicious. The atmosphere was perfect, and we were digging the look of the old building. Our waitress was professional and enthusiastic. The silent films they were playing was a nice touch, and then the jazz band came and played. It was my favorite part of my trip to Boston
The Management was rude. We ordered a drink for a friend at another table for his 30th birthday. They sent it back and said they can't have 2 drinks in front of them. 1 drink limit.
Then we went to talk to them and the Management asked us to get out of the way
Even though it's a big establishment, it felt like an intimate jazz lounge. Definitely will return
I had a wonderful experience at The Beehive. Two local friends brought me here for dinner and we weren't disappointed. We all ordered something different from the very original cocktail menu; we loved them. We ordered a round of bar snacks, which didn't last long either. For our entrees, we got the meatloaf, grilled cheese, dinner salad, and pasta. It was a wonderful meal. The service was also excellent; our server didn't hesitate to make recommendations that we followed. Highly recommended!
A staple of the South End for sure. Food is excellent but the menu doesn't rotate too often. Brunch is always great plus there is frequently live jazz. Their quiche is creamy (not fluffy) on the inside but crumbly and toasty on the outside. If they have the Moroccan lamb omelette it is definitely worth trying. My hands down favorite has to be their need short rib eggs Benedict. You can always have brunch at their bar if you forget a reservation.
As far as dinner is concerned, you can approach it tapas style if you want something lighter; 2-3 appetizers is good for a light dinner between two people. If you go for a real entree, an appetizer may be overkill as much of their food is hearty and comes in good portion sizes.
The atmosphere is great! Live jazz all brunch, yet the food leaves a lot to be desired. Everything reads well but is lacking in flavour and freshness. Big bar with above average cocktails. Best for drinks and live music on a Sunday afternoon.
Atmosphere is great, food was cold and ridiculously expensive. Would definitely not recommend! So disappointed since reviews on trip advisor gave it a 4 star.
Great atmosphere but the food was a
big disappointment. The "Chicken hash and scrambled eggs" were not only puny servings but they arrived cold, with a big pile of flavorless wilted greens. The toast, also cold and no butter. All this for $18?! I hate complaining and did not do so for the sake of my small brunch group... But please, fix this.
I'm at a time when you are not in
Love because I have a soft spot for jazz joints - ended up ordering the cod which was absolutely fantastic.
The atmosphere is great for date nights or for a small group and there's much to say about the live music as well. 10/10 would dine again.
Great atmosphere with live jazz, food is exceptional too but it is a little pricey but worth it. 👌
The Beehive has a very tasty brunch- and this is coming from someone who doesn't particularly enjoy brunch. The menu items are fairly unique, too, with some of them incorporating North African (and other) flavors.
I highly recommend the tofu and seaweed beignets as well as the tuna tartare with seasoned chickpeas. For a main course I really enjoyed the chorizo and hash with eggs and cheese- the chorizo and hash once again had some North African type of seasoning.
The place looks cool, too, and has live (yet relaxing) music- at least during weekend brunch.
The Bartender Christiano, was great. Being a black woman that came to celebrate my son's birthday, with his other photographer friends, was so incredibly disappointing. The prejudice we felt and rudeness was unexceptable. They didn't even want us to sing happy birthday. I spent over 150.00$ only to be frowned upon. I grew up in Boston. Worked and paid taxes. Beehive is setting the pace for one of the racist dining experiences I've ever had in Boston. So we left early and took our business elsewhere. I would not suggest this as a place to have fun and enjoy yourself at all. They have tailored there menu for a "particular people" not a cultural community that's full of life growth. Beehive is overrated!
The cocktail was excellent and the food (duck) was good, and they were child friendly. On the other hand, they made us stand around almost 30 minutes for a table after our booking time, even though the restaurant was 2/3 empty on a Sunday. It was 1.5 hours after we arrived before they served our food. Everything took so long, we didn't stay for dessert.
The food was amazing and the server very attentive. Came on a weekend and so had a jazz band playing whilst we had dinner which added something great to the already excellent atmosphere!
We have been here about 5 or 6 times, usually because we have visitors from outside the city or neighborhood who have heard of it and want to check it out. Good live music and food and great signature cocktails. Pricey even for this neighborhood and service is hit or miss. ice place to go for a drink and some music, but for my money there are several better options for a nice dinner in the immediate neighborhood.
Stellar service with a cool ambiance. The bartenders serve up high quality well crafted cocktails and the menu is packed full of great options. Add in the live music and this place is a definite recommendation for a fun night out or a date!
Completely overrated for their brunch experience. Made a reservation and still waited for 20 mins to be seated (btw they are one of these places that take your credit card when you book and charge you in case of cancellation). The server took 20 more minutes to come take our order. There were 5 of us seated in 2 tiny round coffee tables.
But the thing that pissed me off the most was ordering a side of fries only to discover all dishes my table got came with one, and then being served 6 portions of fries for 5 ppl. Really felt like waitress could have said something when taking the order.
Music was awesome!
The food is pretty good. Almost great. It's the atmosphere and the staff that make it a unique experience. At the very least, it's definitely worth popping in for the live Jazz band and a drink. Just be sure to check what time they come on stage before you head down!
What a fun place! It has a really unusual food menu with items from around the world with a twist. The vibe is great and there is almost always live music happening. It would be a fun place to have an event or just go out on a date. Great bar too!
Incredible chicken! I got the boneless and the portions are large. Love the "The Beehive" and the sweet coleslaw which is great with the heat. Did not try the mac and cheese or the banana pudding but will get on my next visit. I did buy the cookbook as I am anxious to see if I can make anything that is close to the quality of this place.
Also may call in my order the next time to avoid waiting. The chicken wings sell out quickly so I am hoping to get some of those the next time.
I left my drink on the bar and stepped outside for a smoke, came back and it was gone. The bartender replaced my half-full pint with a new full one with no additional charge. Also, very cool live jazz in the lower level. I recommend this place for visitors or locals.
Great little place. Very well decorated. Great place for a date. Bar is busy and little room to mingle but once seated ambiance is amazing. Server was amazing, one of the best I have ever had. Food was good not a true 4 star but effort was there. The short rib sandwich true comfort food and worth ordering. Shrimp and grits were not great, grits were lumpy sauce to thick and small shrimp. Rabbit was well done but not a great deal of rabbit in the dish. All in all worth going again
Great ambiance and the jazz band was very good. We got to sit at the table by the stage and it was nice to be that close and still be able to have a dinner conversation. Now the not so great part. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. I understand that it's an artsy bar/restaurant but I wasn't expecting the graffiti and the overwhelming smell of urine. The food was bland. The shrimp and pasta dish I had tasted as if it were made from frozen shrimp from a bag and if that was scratch pasta they need to get a different recipe. I had two bites and sent it back. Switched to the cod which was better and after adding some salt it was even what I'd call good. Those bathrooms though.....
Very yummy! We went for Saturday Brunch, and though the place was packed, we got a table right away. There's fantastic live jazz music! The portions were just right, and the menu itself offers a wide selection of foods. Very impressive!
I always enjoy coming here for the music and ambience. Even though the food and drinks are expensive, I consider the prices to include the musician's compensation, so it's actually reasonable. The quality of the food is also consistently good and portions are very generous. I even brought my parents, who rarely enjoy loud venues, and they had a good time. I recommend checking the music schedule and looking up the artists ahead of time to see if you'd enjoy the performance. Highly recommend dropping by if you're in the South End.
We went for jazz brunch (weekends 10-2) and it was absolutely incredible. The atmosphere was perfect, mid level lighting and a live jazz band. Wonderful for a nice date or even a group outing. Their salmon cakes are the best I've had. Highly recommended.
One of my favorite places in Boston. Great food, great vibe, great music, great drinks. Good for brunch and dinner. Good for a date or a night out with the folks. A bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. Not a ton of options for vegetarians. Still worth it! Photos are from Sunday night blues.
If I'm in Boston on a weekend, I make a point to visit Beehive for brunch (reservation highly recommended). I'm lucky to have friends who will share their orders with me (all delicious), as I haven't made it past the phenomenal quiche -- I've ordered it 5 times now and been happy with every piece. The brunch cocktails are delicious, too.
Awesome place. My friend and I went here for brunch and had awesome meals and then came back that night for live music and drinks. The music was great and the drinks were so good I ended up spending a ton of money. Would definitely recommend but it gets crowded so get there early and snag a table.
Been there twice on and I enjoyed the live Jazz music and the friendly staff. The pork chop and duck was tasty as well
Food is good. Their today special was lamb chop. It could be less burned. Service is great with handicap lift to go downstairs
Had an Amazing dining experience here. The food was great as well as the performances by the band and singers. I don't drink alcohol so I think they should add the non alcoholic beverages to the menu along with everything else. Not a complaint just an observation. Cynthia the waitress was Awesome!!! KUDOS TO HER! If you like wine this place has a very extensive selection to chose from.
Love the jazzy feel of the place. Food and drinks were amazing. Great place for brunch. I will definitely be going back. Waiter and bartender were friendly and personable. Food presentation was amazing.
First time at the restaurant with my girlfriend, and we were treated like royalty. We will definitely be back to test this out again, but regardless, this is a fine establishment with amazing atmosphere. Live music is also a huge bonus, as Berklee is in the area and students need paying gigs.
Gets packed on a weekend night, but has some of the best cocktails around. Great for a birthday party- very accommodating for reservations. Has the best jazz brunch in the city.
Lovely place for a nice date , live music or a fancy dinner. Staff is very knowledgeable about just about everything in the menu . Specially the wine. Truly a place for foodies who enjoy a good vibe . Killer Brunch !
What an amazing place. The atmosphere alone was amazing but the service, food and Jazz were top notch too. Walking thought the doors your greeted with smiles by the hosts, they are welcoming and accommodating and really pleasant. Walking down stairs you are taken back by the extensive brick and steel work in the building and its a time warp to another era. If you're lucky enough to sit right by the stage, you're in for a treat. The music is loud but not terribly so. Everywhere I go that serves skirt steak, I always order it. This place is the best I have ever had in all my travels. Its cooked perfectly (Medium rare) and the flavors are out of this world. The salad it comes with is a nice compliment however the chips I think are a bit much. If you like Jazz and want that feeling almost like a speakeasy, this is the place to check out.
The service was great and the atmosphere was fun, lively, and hip. The reason I gave this a 3 star is the food was simply ok. The Roasted Pork dish was dominated by vinegar and salt. The Chicken dish was pretty dry.
I came here because of the reviews on Google! Overall a very delicious brunch and excellent service. We ordered the crispy calamari (excellent), the Johnny cake with sofrito pork with poached egg and avocado (a must try for it's too good to pass up) and the ceviche (my least favourite plate l. I found the dish was lacking flavour. It could have maybe has some diced tomatoes and shallots for a fuller experience).
Highly recommended !!
This place is a popular, iconic, touristy restaurant for New American food. Very hip and trendy and the best part is the daily live music and jazz. You are better off making a reservation on weekends, because you most likely will be in for a long wait if you don't. Try to request for a table near the jazz music stage, as you can really get the feels and vibes of the restaurant. The food is a bit overrated, wouldn't come here specifically for the food, I had the Shashuka and Poutine, was average, possibly because it was so packed that day everything was cold. But nevertheless, the atmosphere is great.
Upon arriving I had no idea what was in store. We were taken downstairs for dinner and the ambiance was sultry and the jazz singer was nothing short of mesmerizing. My husband loved the Prime burger and I enjoyed the full dinner with steak. The crafted cocktails were flavorful and unique. Would absolutely recommend this place for a casual yet entertaining night out.
The Beehive is exceptional, can't recommend enough. I love the service, variety of seating and ambience, and menu selection. The live jazz is terrific and not too loud. I brought my partner and his friend their birthday brunch and the staff was very generous and accommodating. I can't wait to go back!
Appropriate for different purposes. Environment is very nice. The service is good. The food is very creative. Enjoyable. The music is a show apart.
When I think of a jazz club, I think rows of chairs facing a small stage with the band bebopping along. It's a communal experience, and this is not what this establishment offers.
Don't give me wrong, the beers are great and the drinks look wonderful, but it's not a jazz club. Only those dining get to sit on the lower level and experience the band. It's more dinner theater than a jazz club.
Beyond that, the jazz just doesn't seem up to par with that other unnamed jazz club, despite the fact this other jazz club is a rip off in and of itself.
If you're looking for the serious jazz fans, look elsewhere.
Food was amazing, cocktails paired well with entrees. The duck was out of this world and the calamari was amazing. Our server was so knowledgeable, and helpful. He had a great personality and made sure my friend and I were well taken care of. Ask for Dominic as your waiter. He's perhaps the best in house 👌👍 definitely one of the best places for 5 star food and cocktails in Boston.
Quaint, eclectic setting. Friendly, helpful wait staff. Fabulous jazz. Tasty dishes for a range of palates. Excellent beverage selection. Can't wait to go back!
Loved the environment and the vibe with a beautiful background jazz. I go there often. Also they've added a new painting on their wall just on the left side of the stairs. I know the painters and they're wonderful.
What a cool, old building with plenty of history! Jazz has been a part of their story from the beginning, and having live jazz at brunch was a pretty unique experience. The food was incredible, and our server was friendly and engaging.
Great classy but not upscale place. Live jazz, and an excellent house beer with a hint of honey, fitting the name.
Full but not overcrowded on Saturday night. Would make for a nice date spot.
Ambient, service and life music are great there. Beef steak slices was good, but three kind of deserts not worth to order probably. Maybe bread pudding was OK, but chocolate tort and cheesecake were a big mistake.
Ambiance is fantastic with live music! Ribs are delicious and desserts are really good too. I recommend sharing an appetizer or two if you have a group of 4 to try a lot of things on the menu!
I would have loved to give the Beehive 5 stars because the food was amazing! And the live show was wonderful too!, but there was a server there (not ours) that was very rude and disrespectful. The tone that she spoke to me in was uncalled for. I just don't understand how it is acceptable for a server to be anything but nice to a customer.
Perhaps one of the best weekend brunch spots in Boston. They offer a wide variety of food, but it is the atmosphere that sets the place apart. Head downstairs and bear a little to the right; you will find a set of tables and a stage with musicians playing jazz. That atmosphere is hard to.find in other places.
The BEST jazz brunch on the east coast. This place is awesome.
Brunch is brilliant and breakfast cocktails are great, dinner is also awesome, the music is always good and the prices are reasonable. It's got such an awesome atmosphere as well, it's always a good experience.
This is one of the best places in Boston, for a date, for drinks with friends, to bring a client - anything...
The Beehive is a hip, fun place to enjoy good live music over dinner. The cocktail menu has a good selection and there is an extensive wine and beer list. The food is tasty with mostly generous portions but is certainly not the highlight of the establishment. Come for the drinks, atmosphere and live music.
Went for the thanksgiving lunch. The place was a lot less “nice” than we had expected - the tables were small and I sat so close to another party that our arms kept touching while eating our meals and we could have easily listened to each other’s conversations.
The food was alright but not special or amazing. The squash soup was very good, but the main meal (typical tgiving dinner meal) or the vegetarian version were underwhelming. The proportions of meat to vegetables were uneven and not enough sauce to make the somewhat dry turkey less dry. It didn’t taste bad or anything, it was just less than what I expected. The dessert was drenched in heavy cream (mixed berry pastry) but tasted well.
The service, however, was excellent. Very friendly waitress and paid attention to our needs.
Have to say the service was great. The starter of mussels were very good, but unfortunately our entries were lacking favor.
Had the hanger steak, it was cook well but had to add salt and pepper to enjoy it. The sides of sweet potatoes and arugula salad were just as bland and flavorless. I would probably choose another restaurant over this most the time. But the service and ambience will keep me from writing it off completely
Food amazing. Service really great. Prices decent. Music wonderful. Women's bathroom lovely. Men's bathroom atrocious and embarrassing. Nasty. Not sure why the intentional subway style graffiti theme means it also has to smell and be gross. 😕
Good food. Good service. I love it in the summer when outdoor seating is an option. For me personally, the music during the two times I went was a bit loud sitting indoors, and it was perfect for me hearing it from all the way outside. The food is a bit pricey for what you get, but you're not just paying for the food here. The live entertainment and ambience is one thing. Plus you're in the middle of a major city after all.
You should definitely try it. Depending on who you are you may like the ambiance, and if you like the energy of the music, this restaurant very well could be one of your new top unique favorites. Would I return? I suppose so. I hope this helps. :)
Awesome place with great ambiance. The cocktails are very craft and very cool, and the food is the same. Attention to detail is present in the decor and the cuisine, as all things in the place have cool speakeasy touches. Service was great, it was a busy night and an event was going on, but our servers were still personable and attentive. Next time I'm in Boston I'll be back to this gem.
Love the Beehive for jazz brunch! I almost don't want to write a review because I don't want you to know how good this place is! Recommend making a reservation or you will have to wait awhile for a table. The bands are always great, usually contemporary but not freeform jazz, and at just the right volume to be able to enjoy a nice conversation over an excellently prepared cocktail. Brunch options are varied, the eggs Benedict is especially tasty. Thee waitstaff are always attentive without being irritating, and they won't bother you if you stay awhile just to listen to the music. Highly recommend this spot!
We've come here for drinks a few times and it's always been great! Expect to wait in line if you get here past 9pm, but get in before then and you're golden. There's jazz every night and all of the cocktails are great (can personally attest to the Paul Bunyan and the Queen Bee being great). Reservations require a credit card to be put down, but from what I've seen, it's worth it.
Let me start with this... The ENTERTAINMENT WAS EXCELLENT, as was the ATMOSPHERE! I went to listen to Naya Rockers, great band, great covers. The entertainment is FIVE STARS, the food is 2.5. If I'm going to pay $19 for a burger, I want, no NEED to know what is in it. "Ground beef" doesn't cut it for $19. I want to know what cuts of meat are in it. It was completely lackluster. I could've gotten a better burger from Shake Shack. But I would return for music and drinks, and their fries/chips.
Good food good prices. Usually have live music downstairs on the weekends. Would suggest getting reservations because there can be a long wait. Good mixed drinks and good portions. Atmosphere is great.
Extremely friendly staff. Great atmosphere with live jazz music. After being seated one of the staff members offered an even better seating arrangement. Good was delicious. I'll will definitely bring going back
Best part: Live music, great ambience
Excellent customer service and good food.
Experiential place for service and music rather than just food. Would love to see more options for vegetarians.
Good place. Overall an amazing experience!
I went here last week when I was in Boston for work. I'm always a little weird about going out for dinner by myself if I'm not in an airport, but decided to check out the Beehive because of the live jazz. It ended up being perfect! Great atmosphere, great music, and friendly staff. The food is a little overpriced, but it kind of evens out since the performance is free.
My biggest complaint would be that there are two unfortunately located columns in between the bar and the stage, so if you're sitting at the bar you're not going to have a great view.
Would definitely recommend it for lone diners, couples, friends, or pretty much anyone who enjoys eating in a lively atmosphere that is still quiet enough to enjoy conversation!
I have been to Beehive multiple times in the past. They serve up a standard brunch fare, and the jazz is a nice addition. That being said, I don't think it is worth it to be greeted by sarcasm of the hostess or the rudeness that my party experienced. I was surprised and shocked by the offensive response to a simple question about seating our table. I have a lot of respect for the waitstaff who work during busy Sunday brunches- and I would expect that same respect in return.
Let's be honest, most of the people visiting Beehive are visitors and tourists. Is that really the impression that we want to give visitors of our city? There are plenty of places in the area that have better customer service and I would recommend those over Beehive in a heartbeat. Highly disappointed.
Wonderful location from Rome Termini train station, we felt lucky to be able to be close to the transportation. I really want to say the hotel receptionist Simone was OUTSTANDING. Wonderful customer service, I would come back just because he was so nice.
This place. If you haven't been, go. Best food we've had so far while visiting here. We went for breakfast without a reservation, but we're able to get open seating at the bar. Great ambiance, live music, the owner was there to welcome people. Our bar tender was slammed and yet was still a pleasant person to be served by. Great customer service, decor, and food.
Went to Beehive several years ago and loved then. Funky atmosphere and live music. Went last night before a play and we're amazed how much the quality had dropped! My wife and I had different entries but found that meat in both was tough and dry. I had cheesecake for dessert and found it dry and caky, more like a coffee cake than cheesecake. Very dissatisfied with expensive meal ($100 for both of us) and wonder if they have a different chef than before...
The food was excellent, as well as, the live jazz music!!
The staff could have been better. Some of the staff seemed annoyed they were working at the restaurant. A couple of waiters seemed nervous interacting with guest, and others ignored guest while waiting on others more often.
I recommend having a reservation for this place because the staff seemed annoyed that we didn’t make a reservation ahead of time even though there was plenty of seating both inside and on the patio.
I highly recommend this place for young and older couples for a date night or a good time with adult friends. Not the place to bring kids because it’s upscale, but laid back. Definitely the Shabby Chic.
Came here for dinner with my husband during our trip to Boston. The food here was excellent. Everything was well crafted and delicious. The building is very old and had a great history. We were also treated to some live entertainment. We also had great service. Definitely recommend this.
This place is mainly about the music and atmosphere rather than the food, but everything is still well prepared and thoroughly satisfying.
Unique cocktails, beers crafted specifically for the beehive, and a solid selection of wines can be enjoyed upstairs in the main dining area or bar, or head downstairs to the basement bar and seating area right near the stage. Every night will feature great artists of various musical styles. No matter the genre the performance will be fantastic and the acoustics will be pleasing.
We always have a great time when we stop by thanks to the professional and courteous staff and ambiance that never fails to impress.
I will come back here as often as I can for the music. I got to see Woo Factor and they are so so good! I did not care for the Mixed Spring Vegetable Curry. The Bread ‘N Butter was fully worth the $4. The Bread Pudding was also fantastic. I need to come back for brunch!
Went for brunch. Food is good, perhaps a little too fancy (too fancy for home fries, common...brunch without home fries). Well priced. Jazz music is questionable though. Went twice, 1st time the horns were WAY to loud for having people sitting 3-5 feet away. 2nd time the band simply could not hold a beat. I recommend The Beat Bistro (sister restaurant) over Beehive.
A very busy restaurant. It is recommended to book in advance but you can still find a seat without booking. Bar and live music performances can be found downstairs. Seats are available outdoor. Prices are very high though and the food is only decent. The waiters/waitresses are very polite.
One of my favorite places anywhere for drinks and / or dinner. Upstairs and downstairs both have an amazing vibe, whether on a busy weekend or a chill weeknight. Sundays and Thursdays are especially good evenings to visit. The live music is always very pleasant, and sometimes wonderful.
Jazz-age ambiance, top-notch service, good cocktails, good food, hot spot, live music. Parking is tough. Valet available for $30 or so. A surefire way to end the evening in a good mood. High-energy atmosphere. Not cozy or romantic, a more exciting and happening kind of place. Usually quite crowded - make reservations for sure. Right near the Boston Center for the Arts, so good post-theater spot.
great atmosphere for brunch! had the French toast and it was really good. love the vibe. will be back for sure.
I loved the atmosphere here! Eduardo Mercuri was playing live jazz... the food was superb... the service was very attentive and helpful... and we didn’t feel rushed, despite the obvious demand for seating. I would go out of my way to come back to this restaurant again. We had brunch but I’d love to come for a romantic dinner one day
The food and service were fantastic. Jazz combo to finish off the meal and the night was a nice touch. Family friendly but cool AF.
Food was good in a casual, slightly funky setting. If we lived it worked in the neighborhood, it might be our go to place. But it's not a destination restaurant -- not the kind of place you travel to.
We love the live jazz here. The restaurant is great, fun cocktails, love the calamari appetizer. They got a new chef and changed the menu so there's a few favorite dishes we miss. They need to bring back the duck breast! The staff is excellent and we love coming here for date nights.
More than a restaurant. Live music venue. Good Brussels sprout appetizer. Interesting drinks. Friendly service e!
We love the Beehive, it has been a favorite spot since we moved to the Boston area.its hard to find a place with a great food menu, really great cocktails and live music. We are big fans of the Beehive, after 5 visits I would highly recommend it. This evening I loved the swordfish and my partner had the lamb shank, cocktails were ... great too!
We went for Jazz brunch, and it was great. Cool atmosphere, good music. Made a reservation and arrived early, and they immediately found us a table. Some gluten free options (not too many though), and the staff is knowledgeable about allergens/cross contamination, and helpful in finding alternatives if necessary.
Only complaint is the booth chairs are surpringsingly uncomfortable.
Have only been for brunch. Loved the live jazz. Steak and eggs were delicious as were pancakes. Avocado toast and eggs Benedict were good, not great. Unfortunately, all the eggs were overcooked. Server was super nice.
This was our plan B restaurant after a full day of interviewing students at MIT and it didn’t disappoint. There were 6 of us and they were busy, but they found us a seat! I got a couple of cocktails, the Chancelor, and the perfect storm, and I’d recommend just ordering your go to cocktail vs their drink menu. For dinner i had the skirt steak with potatoes and chard, very good. Probably wouldn’t seek this place out again but it was perfect for what we needed that particular day.
Delicious twists on brunch classics. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the building itself feels like a fancy maze of spacious underground caverns. It's almost worth going just to see the building, although luckily the food is amazing as well.
My favorite breakfast place ever and one of the most bright memories of San Francisco. Their Apple pandora is melting! Perfect light breakfast made my day. Swedish cinnamon toast is creature of art, very juicy & melt taste! Thank you guys for your wonderful meal!
Innovative menu that was well-executed. Live music that didn't really steal the show from the conversation. Pretty good cocktails. Decent wine list. The decor is a very Urban Chic. Staff was pretty good. They wouldn't seat us until I hope party arrived which is reasonable but they're a bit rude about it.
Do yourself a favor and reserve a table! Seating was limited when we arrived, and we managed to snag a stool at the bar one (lucky!) Sunday morning for brunch and enjoyed some live music that provided a lot of atmosphere.
Between breakfast steak and avocado toast with some unique and flavorful elements, we left a quick trip to Boston with plans to definitely return to enjoy this treat!
My girlfriend and I came here for our anniversary dinner, ordered scallops over pea mash and the steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. We absolutely...read this and 1960 more
