How would you rate OneUnited Bank?
Very bad customer service. I requested by internet a secure credit card on Feb. 2014, everything was fine. They took from my checking account $500 to deposit on March 12 2014, I received the card by mail and I called to activate the card but when I try to use the card was declined. Here started the problems. I called to the phone number that is behind to the card and they told me they can see the card was activated by phone for me but was cancelled for the bank but they can't help me only they can give me a new phone number. I called this new phone number and they told me my bank (wells fargo) from I put the deposit block the funds, they told me you need call your bank and explain this, they need release the funds. I don't believed this but I call to my bank and they said of course, that is incorrect. I called again to one united bank, after a very difficult messages, push #3, push #9 etc, etc. They told me they can't help me, I they try to give a new phone number and I tell him if you can't help me to activate the card then I want to cancel the card and my money back and they supposedly cancel everything and told me I will receive a deposit back on my checking account from $461 Because $39 Dollars fee. I tell him I don't want to pay nothing and they told me was my fault because I canceled the card. Next day I call again hoping can talk with a different person and I explained about this and he said the same: Was your fault for cancel but is fine I am going to remove the fee I you will receive a check by mail for $500 in three weeks. (new version, by mail)
After 4 weeks I don't received the check and I called to ask about the status this was already May 2014 and they told me we said three weeks but after we finished the process and we finish this on May 12nd then I will receive the check on June 9th. I never receive the check, on june 17 I call and now they told me the card never was cancel because I need to do this by a writing letter and send by fax, the same day July 17 I sent the letter and they never send me the check I call to ask and they said the check was lost and they going to send me a new one, on July 23 finally after four and half months I received the check. The mainly problem is the time that is necessary to talk with somebody from customer service, when you finally can talk with a person they don't know nothing, they need to transfer the call or give you a new phone number sometimes I called to Miami or Los Angeles, there are four hours difference that is a big problem too. I don't wrote everything that happened, this is a summary I called many times and they told me different versions, I honestly thought I would receive no money. Thanks for Nancy she help me a lot.
I have been banking almost a year and have had a great experience with customer service. There are some delays as far as updating the online system, but when you budget your funds appropriately it's not an issue. I love the fact I am support a BOB and whenever I have contacted customer service I always get pleasant and helpful representatives.
I love the service there they always make me smile.
i want to know how you alk resolved the issue with Rommell. im all for supporting BOB but i will not tolerate bs.

The branch that I go to is closing which saddens me immensely. The people at this location are so friendly and helpful not to mention it was about 3 blocks from my house.

This was THE worst experience I have ever had with a banking center. Not only did I not receive a check card. I was told to wait 4 days after the normal 7-10 to call in to request a new one. Then they cancelled one and never ordered another. And on top of it all the overnight check process took a toll of stress as well. I'm very thankful I have my funds going to two other banks and wasn't dependent on this one bank because I would be in a heap of trouble.
I advise to stay far away. Some of the reps were good but the one young girl in particular - Janelle was horrible. She has a lot of attitude on the phone for someone dealing with people's money and should not be working in a banking institution.
I will never support a black owned bank such as this again. #ALLBANKSMATTER
I've been with this bank over 15 yrs. The service is extraordinary; fast, professional and most definitely courteous, describes, JJ, Josie Ramos and Flores Ramos.
Most unprofessional people I've ever met in my life. I just closed my account with them after 20 years.
Received great service and was in & out in under 14 min. No complaints here.

Always Good Service
Need to stop calling yourself just a black bank you lose a lot of people that might want to do business with you. Get into the 21 century went a card number has been stolen are hacked and used it shouldn't take the process that You send your customers through it should all be done electronically like most banks and credit unions.
Never get the unity Visa card. Every payment takes 5 business days to process so good luck using the card. Second it will never roll over to an unsecured account. So you will never get your deposit back.
They forever have an attitude when you call. 🤣
So I made the poor choice of getting a credit card from them. For one the Heffa who answered the phone needs another job because customer service clearly isn't for her. She sounded like some ghetto hood rat. She was rude and had your classic black woman who doesn't want to be at work tone. They are making me wait 8 days to use my credit card again after I paid it. So I'm sure I will be getting another card from a real bank . Do not bank black. It's a bunch of crabs in a barrel. There are no financial literacy classes. They aren't here to help. Just a bunch of folks who need a job.
This bank sucks I hate it I just open a new account here because I thought it was convenience for me but it’s not I haven’t received my debit card since I open the account and that was like 3 weeks ago and they gave me some temporary checks so I try to used one and guess what It didn’t work 😡😡
I was dealt with by 2 very rude Latina Women that did not want to let me cash my check at the Compton Branch. And I have a account at this bank. They really made me feel completely uncomfortable. And they were yelling about my account information across the room. It was my worst experience at a bank ever and I’m 30 yrs old. Thank GOD for Maria helping me and settling my account and cashing my check. She turn my experience around being very nice and discreet. I was very pleased. I would have put one star. But I gave a few just because of Maria that helped me. IMPORTANT: One of the very rude women was the got damn Manager. Yelling my info across the room. Lol SMH
PS I’ve only seen one Black Person ever work at this branch. I’m really confused by the message this bank in sending.
Update: Still too many racists that have been working here for years. When is it gonna stop?!?

Awesome bank!!! My children have accounts there and the staff are always patient and understanding while I teach my children how the bank works. I couldn't be happier with this bank!!!
Service is always fast with friendly Representatives. Even the Security Guards are cool. I like this bank. Never had any problems with them.
Good bank just behind with the technology
My account was closed for a second time. I'm establishing myself as a new black business owner. I started my account with the L.A. branch and it was a horrible experience. But I did not want to give up on black banking. I go to the Compton CA branch and was helped by Josie Ramos, seemingly very nice and concerned with customer satisfaction. Fast forward, my account is automatically closed, from what I was told was at my hands. But when I called to speak to Josie, I left a message, this was at 10 am Sat, they close at 1pm from what the website said. So I called back, due to time approaching noon, she answered and I identified myself and my issue. Gave her my account info, she looks it up and I tried explaining the importance and the severity of the situation that I'm in, opening my new business with my aplication still pending. She only told me what I did wrong, did not fully hear me out, gave me no consideration or patience and rushed my off the phone. As I'm talking, trying to explain, she is constantly repeating, "I'm sorry, you have to open another account" and then hangs up. I'm trying my best to support black financial strengthening in the urban communities, i really want to be a part of black banking empowerment, but this is the second time someone at this banking institution has provided poor customer service, I was not rude, using profanity, or yelling and she basically hung up in my face. I'm trying to bring my business, which I'm a car dealers, to this financial institution and this is the way they treat a potential lifetime client. I hate to say it, I may have to go elsewhere for my banking services and that part is disheartening.
I was lied to twice and told I would have to wait for 10 days for my money to be back into my account after an account was opened in my name. Thanks to somebody fraudulently using my information.
I enjoy banking with OneUnited. I mostly use it online, and when I go in to the physical location in LA, I receive great customer service and support. Downside - they need more locations across the map where one can deposit as well as withdraw funds... Working on it???? ;-)
Literally had to wait almost 30 mins in line and no one was even in line! They move slow! Then when I get to the window they gotta call CRENSHAW to send over whatever! This makes no since just tell people to only go to the one where their account was open cause this was a complete waste of my time!!!! Fix your process! No wonder there’s only 2 of you! Smh
