How would you rate Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen?
The food was great but unfortunately the service was second rate. At the end of the meal our bill was given to us with an additional charge of $5 for cover and an automatic charge of 18% for gratuity. I found these two charges alarming for 2 reasons. First, we were never advised by the manager (Austin) nor his waitstaff that there was a cover charge when my friends and I entered the establishment and seated at ~8.30pm. Secondly, gratuity is usually automatically added to a bill for six or more people NOT for 5 people. The waitress cleared up the gratuity issue but had an attitude when she had to fix her error. I told her that we have no problem paying her 18 to 20% tip but did not appreciate the imposed tip on our bill. I spoke with the manager, Austin to further clear up this issue with the cover charge. He gave us a disingenuous apology and told us we were still responsible for the cover charge even though it was his fault for not telling his customers that there was a hidden fee. He continued to tell me that this cover charge was listed on the back of the menu and at the front door on a sign. It was very unclear and not communicated well enough that a cover charge was required for us to eat. This practice of not telling their patrons is very deceptive and shows poor taste in personal character from the manager. It is usually standard for cover charges to be collected at the door as soon as a patron enters a venue for entertainment purposes at a specified time. In our case their so called sign did not have a time listed nor was additional fees required of us. In the future it would be good business practice to tell first time customers if there are additional fees when entering their restaurant and not be hoodwinked once they receive their bill. Ultimately, it is bad for business. I'm sure people including myself would pay the cover charge if the approach about collecting money wasn't so tacky.
Had the best time at Darryl's this weekend. We didn't hear anything about this place ahead of time, so we didn't know what to expect, but the crowd was pretty without being pretentious, the food and the drinks were banging, and the music was live...HOT jazz with a little smoky R&B. Be forewarned, though, it's a tiny place, and it gets very crowded, but between sets the crowd thins out and you might be able to get a seat. The waitress, Denise, was very personable, and made sure that we did not feel out of place even though we were still dressed for walking around downtown vs a night on the town. Everyone mingled nicely, and the crowd was very diverse. We will definitely be back.
This place is amazing. Would recommend it to anyone thats a fan of great ambiance and delicious food.
My mom & I decided to try this place out a few days ago for her bday. Unfortunately it was a bad decision. None of the food had any seasoning/flavor. The drinks were just average and although our server was nice, he was never any where to be found when we needed him. He seemed to just disappear, even waited 15-20 mins just to get the check. The decor looks nice however small and congested. May be a nice place to have a beer and listen to the live music but I definitely do not recommend spending your money on the pricey food that, in my opinion, is very underwhelming. I've had much better food at chain restaurants like Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, and etc, for less money.
Great atmosphere and the people make you feel at home.
With the Jazz Band playing, the friendly staff, a pint or 2 of Guinness, and Mama's Lamb Shank, I was in Heaven.
I've had a lot of shanks in my time, but this one has hit the top of my list, by a long long way. The sauce was magnificent and the lamb fell of the bone.
Complimented with beautiful vegetables, it was a taste bud sensation.
Really haven' t been there yet but believe it used to be known as Bob the Chef..and it was the bomb back then..will have to check it out..
I came during Sunday Brunch. We did not have reservations, but the host seated us within 10 mins of our arrival. Our server was friendly and attentive. Aside from the noise level (which we expected at a jazz brunch), we enjoyed the entertainment and the cozy environment. The food was amazing and the selection provided something for everyone. Coming from the south, I enjoyed being able to get cheese grits, home fries, french toast, fried chicken and collards on one plate (Of course healthier traditional items were also available). Despite it being served buffet style, hot from the stove/skillet temps were maintained and the food was refreshed often.
Great spot. Met up with friends, found some new ones. The chicken appetizer was delightful, and so was my lamb entree- succulent in one word. My friends ordered the chicken / waffles. The red velvet waffle is pretty tasty. Only thing is they might try to give you a lighter second drink. Otherwise, it was great.
this is my favorite location. its upscale and still feels comfortable and welcoming. The staff is always upbeat and lively. The manager JB is a gentleman's gentleman, although his tie game needs some work.... highly recommended; this is absolutely Boston's best kept secret
Love the food, vibe and atmosphere!
The staff is so friendly. The general manager introduced himself to me as soon as I walked in. I genuinely feel like i'm at home when i'm here. The food is amazing. The burgers and wings are out of this world. Every time I leave Darryl's with my friends we rave on about how great it is and how we hope that we can become regulars. Everything is amazing, the service, the presentation, the atmosphere.
Darryls is our favorite neighborhood place! Every time we come in we feel welcome, like we're going to the home of an old friend. Everyone is nice and funny and the food and drinks are the best around. Highly recommend the sweet peach chili wings!
Great atmosphere and music. Food is good too
Absolutely terrible! I reserved a table over 24 hours early, was seated, and then rudely told to get up by the waiter. We showed up on time to our reservation, but still had to wait an hour which made us late for our meetings. Professional restaurants typically have grace periods so that this doesn't happen. This was extremely disrespectful to both myself and my engineering colleagues visiting this establishment. Please look elsewhere if you are in the Boston area.
I scheduled a reservation for a group. On the night of the reservation, I suspected we might be a few minutes late. I called to let the part owner/hostess know our situation. She offered little to no concern and even said their policy was to only hold a table for 10 minutes after the reservation. Though the menu and website both explicitly say they hold table for 15 minutes past the reservation time.
Upon arrival, we had to wait for 25-30 minutes for our "reserved" table. A larger group of people who showed up with no reservation were seated before us. The part owner/hostess was also very rude whenever I asked her about being seated. There was very little standing room in the restaurant. The band was also loud for the small space.
I ordered the fried chicken with a sides of mac and cheese and green beans. The chicken lacked seasoning, but the mac and cheese was good. The green beans were alright. The were not very flavorful. Overall, the quality of the food was not worth the price. Also, apparently there is a 3$ cover for the band included in each person's bill. Though the price is reasonable, it was unexpected. At no point did the waiter or part owner/hostess say anything about the cover charge. Splitting the bill was also a nuisance, since we had to calculate the price for each person's meal on our own and assign a price to be charged for each debit card . I will not be returning for a meal again. I will possibly return just for drink and to hear the band.
Great veggie burgers with live music Saturday for brunch! Popular spot, booking table for brunch advised. Great live music, awesome Jazz band.
A decent place, wings are great and the atmosphere was nice. On the other hand the entrée was unremarkable and the cover fee added for the band was unexpected.
Always a good time. Go early for the live music before the party starts. There's a small window during the switch where you can't get in due to capacity which is a little wonky but otherwise always a fun time. The upsidedowntini is FABulous
Jazz Brunch at Darryl's is always delicious and fun. The variety of food available, the music that's being played creates a great atmosphere. The Grand Ma Most was delicious.
Excellent ambiance and the live music was great. Had the chicken and waffles, looking forwards to returning and trying the rest of the menu.
Terrible. Because of nearby construction, we were slightly delayed but still got there at 1:20 pm for a 1:15pm reservation. They told us our table was not yet ready, but they would seat us when the people left. Fine, sometimes diners linger longer than expected. Then at 1:30 pm when the table cleared and was set up, they said they could not seat us for another ten minutes -- even though the table was empty and ready -- because we had been "late" and they didn't want the server to be overwhelmed by having too many diners at once. This is for a table that was not ready when we arrived and was for only 2 persons at a buffet where we have to get our own food anyway. So we paid for the drinks we ordered while waiting and told them we were leaving. Then they falsely told Opentable we had failed to show up for our reservation. Worse service I have ever received at any restaurant.
Loved it! Met at Coply and in ten mins was there for early Sun dinner w/ plenty of parking. Turned out to be the old Bob the Chef's spot. Sweet hostess, friendly waiter. Had the fried catfish which melted in my mouth. Polenta was cheesy and deep fried both great w/just a shade of heat (or maybe too much pepper). The vegie burger was good also with a bit of heat (um yeah my mom did add bacon) The balckened catfish was on fire, my sis scraped off the spice and still liked it, needs a warning tho. I really like the atmosphere, nice mix of R&B etc., upscale and down home at the same time. Left feeling really relaxed. Definitely coming again.
The unlimited brunch on Sundays is the best! You can't beat soul food and live jazz. The Grand Ma Mosa is the best mimosa you ever had with Grand Marnier! I'll be there again very soon!
Live jazz and clean enviroment and people
Good food and good service. Really nice ambience!
Darryl’s in two words: “Never again.”
Please don’t make the same mistake we made; take your business elsewhere.
We waited nearly an hour for four appetizers. After I asked the “server” (I use the word loosely) to cancel the appetizers (because I assumed the entrees would be arriving in any minute), three of the appetizers finally appeared.
The fourth appetizer—a spinach salad—never did show up. Somehow, the kitchen was able to prepare one spinach salad for our table, but the second was evidently too high a bar to clear.
When the appetizers arrived, the manager assured me that the entrees were right behind them. He also looked me in the eye and (as it turned out) lied to me, saying that one entree (a grilled chicken sandwich) in particular was holding things up, but those entrees would be out shortly.
Three of the four entrees arrived after another wait, but that grilled chicken sandwich also turned out to be too much of a challenge for this establishment and it simply never arrived.
The kicker was this policy statement from their website: “To ensure that we can honor your reservations in a timely manner, we have a 2 hour maximum seating time during the prime times.” Deeply ironic, when, in the two hours we wasted at this establishment, this is a restaurant that couldn’t actually serve four appetizers and four entrees to four patrons.
At Darryl’s, to paraphrase P.T. Barnum, you can feed some of the people some of the time.
I have never written a review like this before, but, in two decades of restaurant-going as an adult, I’ve never seen “service” like this.
Two words—offered by either the “server” or the manager at any point—would have kept me from writing this review.
Darryl’s, say it with me, for future reference: “I’m sorry.”
Goodness knows you should be.
I loved the food. But not everyone in my party liked it. What I didn't like was the wait for our reserved table, the "Entertainment fee " and forced gratuity. Even though the waitress didn't earn 18%! None of this information was offered upon reservation. And they kicked us out of our reserved table even though we spent $400. They didn't tell us there was a time limit. I mean, I liked the food, not everyone did. And we told the staff it was a friend's birthday and they sang the song for another table and not ours. I know 11 people they lost business for. We won't go back.
Attended a birthday dinner here, food and jazz music was great! Service needs major improvement. We arrived 1 hour before our reservation to sit at open bar seating spent about $100. Once seated(party of 12)we all ordered our entrees 3 out of the 12 people never received their food an hour after everyone else. Not once did waiter come over to ensure if we were all set. Waiter made an attempt to bring out a plate to one of the 3 missing entrees and it was the wrong order.Maybe with larger groups in a small cramp establishment assign two waiters. Manager did correct bill to what was appropriate. It made the night a bummer to celebrate a birthday and people in your party didn't eat.
Hit & miss. The atmosphere was good, the live music was excellent, but a little too loud to talk without shouting, ( and - everyone - was having to shout to their companions over dinner . it was actually a little comical to look around and see how everyone was sort of craning over their plates to talk/shout to each other). Our server Jasmine was superb , she was there when we needed her, not when we didn't. We started with fried oysters, which were that perfect blend of crispy outside but still raw and salty beneath. My companion had the chicken and waffle which she completely enjoyed. My jambalaya was OK, but with the glaring mistake of being served with unopened (dead/not fresh) mussels!
That's a simple quality control measure and potential health issue which raises my concern.
I really liked the place, but if I return I'll be sticking to the fried chicken and waffles.
Minus a half star for the inability to speak without shouting, and one and a half off for the questionable shellfish.
I've been on the search for the best fried chicken in MA for a while and I can confidently say that Silvia's is it. The chicken was moist and delicious and the Mac and cheese and collards greens were great as well. Everyone in my group had the chicken and some beers and it was moderately priced. We sat outside on the street and the service was very attentive.
I find Darryl's to be a really unique experience. Sunday Brunch is wonderful; laid-back, great flavors and musical.
Great place for southern food and music
If you want to go spend $200 and then be told to leave by the hostess so they can clear tables, after you already paid the automatic fee for (so-so) music, this is your place. Absolutely rude - took my parents here on their one night in Boston - will never return. Also, as the hostess was concerned with clearing tables, we could hardly get out of the entrance as it was blocked by a crowd of people - an illegal fire hazard and my mom almost tripped. Happy to see where their priorities are. Food was average and we thought that before this happened. Don't waste your time.
This place was a ton of fun! The staff, ambiance, and live music entrainment were second to none. The food lacked consistency. Gator tacos were a delight, but soul food staples like Mac and cheese we're almost entirely without flavor (this seems almost a challenge). The culinary intentions are very good, but execution needs polish. Otherwise this place is a home-run.
I love this place! The food is amazing and the live music is always so good! I take friends here all the time because it never disappoints! The fried chicken and macaroni and cheese are devine! The cocktails are great too!
Makes NO DAYUM SENSE to have 10+ (5 tables) open seats available, for 40 minutes - claiming they are "reserved" and having walk in customers - CASH IN HAND - being told there is an hour wait. 1.5 hrs later SAME 10 SEATS ARE STILL OPEN. What business model is this? The atmosphere, ok. The food - STILL WAITING.
Fried catfish was great and the chicken wings were crunchy and well seasoned. Everything was perfect except the too soggy candied yams. The portions are just perfect: you leave full but not obese
love the atmosphere of the place, the food is fine, but the service is slow. On the weekends, at night, this establishment turns into a club, but the space you have to dance is very small. But its one of the only Black owned spots in the city of Boston.
Great crowd, great atmosphere, great live music, great food, great seating! Drinks and food were prompt, and they didn't rush us out. The sweet potato pie dessert was a lil on the small side, but worth it. The first time I saw a proposal in a restaurant. Just an all around great time!
Nice brunch. Great music. Not into Jazz but it sounds great. Great young staff. Very polite.
Had a great time celebrating my daughter's 35th birthday the service was great! the food was great! and the entertainment was great! So all around great!!!
Big improvement in food quality since our last visit a year ago. Service was very warm and hospitable, and we enjoyed the live music, although perhaps for a room this size, the amplifier could be dialed back a little. The cocktail menu is as strong as ever, with inventive and playful options, and a tight wine list that doesn't overwhelm. We ordered a number of items off the 'snack' section of the menu, and everyone loved the jalapeno hush puppies. Really didn't care much for the kale and apricot salad which lacked apricots and also dressing. But everything else was terrific - I could make a meal out of the sides like the sweet corn or the mac & cheese. The standout was, of course, the chicken and waffles.
Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food. The catfish, Mac n' cheese and ribs were all delicious! Definitely worth getting to brunch by 11:00 am for the Early Bird Special.
Awesomeness all the way around. I love the atmosphere and food. It definitely reminds me of home
Nice attempt but not good enough. Unfortunately, there is no good food at this restaurant, overpriced canned vegetables was an insult to my wallet and pallet. Soul food with no soul just bland. Waitstaff is lacking. Music way too loud for enjoyable dinner conversation. Darryl, you can do better; stop catering to some and start providing good food and service for all.
Had a birthday dinner there, the food and service was great. It took awhile for the food but I'll just assume it's because the place was packed. The waitress however, did a phenomenal job communicating with us. Will definitely return.
Great band but music is way too loud for a small environment. I couldn’t even hear myself speak or hear the waiters. Food wasn’t the greatest, definitely not worth 60 bucks. My waitress was nice. They have a “entertainers fee”. Only ways to find out is when the check come & or you do some research online prior to your visit.
It was amazing they had great jazz music they were very friendly and had great southern food family friendly
The shrimp and grits is my favorite and come here just for this dish. They offer live jazz some evenings and it's a nice intimate atmosphere. Service is good to..staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Great place for Sunday brunch, and live music. Some how some remnants of the original Bob the chef's are still intact, while at the same time the place screams uniqueness.
My first and last time actually coming here. At first everything seem to be flowing nicely. A friend and I reserved a table in advance. The entertainment and some staff was nice. Ordered appetizers and drinks and spent about $55 dollars plus tip. After about two hours we were asked by the owner to move all the way to the back so others can eat. As we go towards the back we are awkwardly stared down by other guest.
All because there was no more seating anywhere. And extremely crowded. I thought that was very inconvenient and inconsiderate considering one of us was on a cane. Then when we try to ask why we were sent somewhere where there is no seating, he explained to us we were here for 2 hours and only brought appetizers and drinks. Poor excuse. At the end of the day if there is a certain fee that the customer is supposed to spend, to be allowed to sit in a reserved area that needs to be explained ahead of time .Will not be going back, will not be referring anyone to go there.
A bit small but intimate. The band was a bit loud for the space which made it hard to hear others at the tabke. Food was good. Prices are a bit high. Drinks tasted nice but tiny.
Went there for Sunday brunch and every item of food was exceptional. Live jazz music excellent service. For $25 you can't beat it
I visited Darryl’s tonight for the first time. The atmosphere was lovely. There was music playing just loud enough to vibe but not too loud to tune you out. Soon after a live band began to play. I ordered calamari which was the special of the day, gator tacos which could have been better if they were fresh, gumbo which was delicious and the macaroni and cheese was to die for. I also had the glorifried chicken but the first piece I received was tough and dry. I sent it back and the second piece was delicious. They would have gotten five stars had the food come out fresh the first time. Overall, the service was great and I did enjoy myself.
Great band, great food but unfortunately bad service. We barely saw our waitress and when we did she left so quickly she didn't give anyone a chance to speak. They also kept taking our water glasses, cloth napkin and silverware away which was very inconvient considering the waitress barely came to the table. Other than the service my family and I enjoyed our selves. Great atmosphere!
Great food. Great music. Good service. We showed up last minute and quickly got a table. Excellent drinks as well.
NEVER AGAIN! I've tried a few times with this establishment. Each time a huge fail. I want to support black own business, however this place don't care about its customers. So I will no longer support.
Darryl's, You guys need to do better.
Waited 2 hours and 20 mn and didn't get seated to a table. Spoke to Michael who stated he was the Manager and was informed he would go see what he could do. He left and never came back to give me any updates on being seated. Would not recommend this place if you don't have reservation. To be honest wouldn't recommend it for any reason because of the interaction with the Manager.
Came here with a friend on a visit to Boston. Great service. The bar tender was really friendly. The live music was great! Will come back here if I were in town again.
Love this place! The music is amazing (and varies from day to day), the food is so delicious, and the staff is friendly. Great vibe every time we visit!
Nice atmosphere until the band plays and the Food NOT GREAT Either!! Then they have the nerve to Charge " Entertainment Fee" of $5 that you don't get notified untill you get your BILL of you go online... VERY SAD WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS... We asked the waitress and she stated that it was posted on the door, which it was not.. The should have there host, waitress and post it on there door.. This will be a matter that needs to be reported to the better business bureau... Bad Business Practice...
Really enjoy the unlimited brunch limit on Sunday.
If you come here before 11am then you’ll get the early bird’s price!
Live jazz music with delicious food is so chill. Nice place!
Loved it. Best hush puppies I have ever had. Grilled cheese sandwich was amazing. Bartender could not have been better. Not from here but will come back.
Delicious food and hearty meal portions. It's a bit expensive but definitely worth the price. Fair warning that during live music, they charge per person and its difficult to actually have conversations but I always leave full and happy.
I am reviewing only the food, I did take out of fried chicken in dark meat. I was very disappointed on the fried chicken, it was a leg quarter but it was lack with batter and tasteless. For the sides I ordered green beans and Mac and cheese and they were good. I was told this restaurant has good fried chicken and I believe this was worse fried chicken in this price range.
Great little place for a bit of live music and dinner. Most of us got the chicken (I chose dark meat) and waffles which we all enjoyed, but also all thought there could have been a little more chicken. The waffles were nice and fluffy. The chicken was fried perfectly. Moist and flavorful with a great crispy crust. Getting it with strips seemed to yield a slightly more generous portion of chicken. Also tried the collard greens which were also delicious and the mashed potatoes which were alright. But I came to this place for soul food. Something that brings you back to the moment in time your life when you had your first fork/spoonful of your absolute favorite dish. And while I may not have gotten quite there, this place definitely have it a damn good try. I definitely recommend this place and I look forward to my next meat there.
On a non-food related note, there is a cover charge (per person) automatically added onto the check for the live entertainment. This is clearly listed on their website, though, but still worth mentioning in case you don't spend a few moments surfing their homepage.
Fried chicken here is delicious! Drinks - all day Awesome! Bartenders are amazing, know their stuff and friendly. CANNOT beat the AMAZING live music! Come early cuz it gets pretty busy but worth it! I love this place! Big fan!
Food was good. My salmon was over cooked. My dad's burger was under cooked. Our waitress didn't check in often so we only had one drink. It's a cool spot if your looking for comfort food. The baked macaroni and cheese was delicious.
COMPLETELY wonderful experience! I would give the food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the music, and the service more than five stars if I could. We got the chicken and waffles and the ribs, and both dishes were among the best I'd had of each. The live music is another incredible side of the experience at Daryl's. It's integrated into the middle of the restaurant, which is really cool and makes it feel very personal.
Overall, eating here when the live music is going is an experience you don't want to miss!
Love everything about Darryl's....The ambience...the music...the food😍 Even though there was a slight error with being seated and we had to wait a while...15 min turned to 30+min...the lovely hostess made up for it. She made sure we were able to order an entree even though the kitchen was closing. We were more than satisfied with our apps. Definitely worth the wait!
A friend and went to pick up an order,, wasn't even allowed in the first door! We were told of the dress code, and we absolutely understood that, we explained that we weren't going to party, we just wanted an order! We were told by the gentleman at the door, we had to wait so he can verify! At this point, we felt unworthy, not wanted , and not good enough!
No worries from us ever again!
The one star is really a NO star, just couldn't post without at least 1 star!
HURT and DISAPPOINTED!!,
Great ownership, horrible staff. Food was not so good...we got several things. The drinks were great! And the music was incredible.
What a great place! I've only been for brunch but we really enjoyed the live jazz band and the excellent food. They had a great spread including some delicious fish, and a nice mix of southern favorites. Service was excellent and everyone was very friendly. Once of those places where you want to be a regular because just being there is a lot of fun!
Small but cozy. Food and drinks are always amazing. The live musical bands are always amazing!!! A very family oriented place.
The food was AH-MAZ-ZING! And our waitress was the bomb. Gracefully, patience and kind, she was.
I came here to celebrate for my friend's birthday. And we had the BESTEST of time. Yummy food, great entertainment, good service. I recommend if your looking to have a great time, with good soulful food with a good community of people. And will come back again, from NYC.
The spicy chili sweet chicken wings were amazing, and the marconi cheese will make smack your...
Nice ambience and live music.
I used to love Darryl's and recommended them highly, until now. I went to the restaurant on Sunday to ask about placing an order for Christmas 2018. I was told I would have to speak with the manager, Nia Grace, but she was unavailable. I was instructed to send her an email and she would definitely get back to me. I sent the email Sunday evening and another today, December 11, 2019 and i never heard back. I called the restaurant and asked to speak with her and was placed on hold for quite a while. I called back and the hostess apologized for the wait and told me Ms. Grace was finishing up with a customer and to hold for two minutes. Two minutes turned into five and the hostess returned and advised that Ms. Grace said they were no longer taking orders for Christmas. I said that was unacceptable and based on what I was previously told, I needed to speak with her. The hostess told me to hold and returned with the message Ms. Grace was busy in the kitchen and couldn't come to the phone. This is horrible customer service and it doesn't leave a lot of time to place a Christmas order elsewhere. I am done witb Darryl's and would not recommend their establishment.
The food, the music, and service was great. The environment guarantees that I will be a repeat customer. Everything was great and all servers worked together to ensure that customer were checked on and had no needs.
My friend and I went for dinner and came back for the nightlife scene. Denise, the bartender, was great. Her signature drink is A-1. The food was great. The catfish, mac-n-cheese, and yams were our favorite dishes of the night. They have a 2hr seating policy so we left and came back at 11:30. A little perturbed by the $15 cover charge considering we were return patrons. I think they should have a VIP list for early dinner guests who come back or something. Now if you are a late dinner guest, they charge you an entertainment fee but it’s less than $10. All in all it’s a good experience, just a little steeper than I was comfortable with but such is life!
Great food and cocktails. Amazing, live music on weekends. Place gets packed so make a reservation! I cannot give 5 stars because the quality of table service and wait times are kind of ridiculous.
No wait on a Sunday night but service was kind of slow. Took a while for them to take our order and for the food to come out. However, the food was delicious!!! We had the ribs, fried chicken and fisherman's platter and everything was great. Recommend getting the leg/thigh meat. Fries were a little cold but the yams and polenta were amazing.
This place has a really nice vibe and beautiful aesthetic. The food was on point and cooked fresh. I really enjoyed the fried chicken and mac and cheese. I went for dinner and really enjoyed myself.
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday last year because we love jazz! The food was sooooo amazing and worth the price. Amazing live jazz and other music all week. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to splurge a bit and loves live jazz like I do!
I was in Boston for the weekend and did a google map search for “Soul Food/Southern Food”. Found this little golden nugget. We went for the Sunday brunch. Food was hot & delicious. Didn’t get a chance to stay for the jazz entertainment, but I’m going to make it a point to return back to this place. The waitstaff was excellent. Making reservations here makes the experience much smoother. In my opinion. We did not make a reservation, but their hostess was very gracious.
Everything about Darryl's is the best. The food is great. The drinks are awesome. The service is excellent. And the music... it swings hard. Best spot for Jazz in Boston.
If you like Southern cuisine, there's no place better.
This is an intimate little neighborhood bar with friendly wait staff and excellent food. The night I attended there was a jazz ensemble playing with diverse customers. Highly recommend.
I ordered the braised short rib. 1 braised short rib is like 3 smaller sized. My fiancee ordered the catfish. Overall, the food was excellent. The price was a bit steep $72 for two meals and some cornbread. But, the atmosphere is very sophisticated. Very upscale compared to most soul food restaurants. But, 1 half hour wait to get your food is ridiculous.
Everything was great. The owner was super friendly and helpful. Point off a full 5 star just because there were literally no more than 5 people in the restaurant but it still took about an hour to get food. I mean, but it was really good food so...
Food and specialty drink no. If you go it be to listen to the band which I was on my way out so didn't get to hear. The ladies was great attending to your every needs but no go again. They were very accommodating and removed my meal. I will not go in to detail why I was deterred. But would go again
The food and service were downright spectacular, and considering that the place was packed, it was very impressive.
