How would you rate THE Land of Kush?
Food tastes gooood, but it's not thaaat healthy; a lot of soy and processed-ness, well for the meat substitutes anyways. It's a task to mimic meat w/o processing but my hope was that they'd have more hearty vegetables in lieu of soy and protein isolates. Also I would want the portion sizes to be a little bit bigger.
Actually the entree I had was less than ok, but I liked the place and a side and drink I had.
Had high expectations of this place after reading reviews and how it was voted best vegetarian restaurant in Baltimore, but the chicken curry I had was weird. It wasn't terrible but it sure wasn't spicy and the fake chicken was flavorless. The collared greens were ok.
I would give this place three stars if it was cheaper. The ginger drink I had was good and spicy and the candied yams were really good (but it's pretty hard to make that not delicious) too, but for $13 bucks I want the entree to be good too.
I would go back and order different things if I lived in Baltimore though.
This restaurant is great! Awesome food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. You owe to yourself to visit. I am there all the time.
Got the Chicken Curry with the tuna and rice side. The food was amazing. It cost $13 for the meal plus a drink and it was totally worth it!
Afterwards I got the chocolate/mint cheesecake and I could've died.
If you visit Baltimore you have to visit this place!
love the food...the fruit/veggie drinks and of course the customer service. valued customer.
amazing food. nice chill ambiance. best vegan soul food in Baltimore!!!
I like the good vibes of this place. The staff were nice and down to earth. Good music selection as well.
I ordered the bbq "ribs", mac & cheese, and collard greens. The food was good but not amazing. I was surprised that the green were just meh. I also had the blueberry lemon cheese cake which was ok as well.
I would eat here again to try other options on the menu. This place is promising and they have huge portions!
I have been going there since it opened. I haven't had anything that I have not liked, but the eggplant is my personal favorite. Of course, I have to wash it down with the excellent ginger drink. I usually take the food with me, but I sometimes eat in. I do recommend it for the food and the atmosphere.
If these dudes were cooking for me all the time I could do vegan 24/7. Eggplant parm, spinach salad and a tea. Not there as often as I'd like but they haven't disappointed in 3 years =]
Went here with the fam to celebrate Juneteenth and the food was great. We're meat eaters, so they did well Still the BBQ ribs were delicious and the ginger drink was good. So was the mac and cheese, just about everything. considering that its hard to mimic meet. Although I wish they would just focus on making superb veggies dishes rather than trying to mimic meat dishes all the time. We are definitely returning regularly for our "meatless" nights for dinner.
The meal I ordered was absolutely delicious! I love the atmosphere. The male that prepared my meal was courteous. The short female cashier with the red and black hair (if i recall correctly)seems to have a disposition about her that could potentially initiate a negative interaction with clientele. We all have our days, however it's how we decide to deal with them and with whom we deal with them that makes the difference. One thing I won't do is allow the overall quality of an establishment to be solely based upon employee dispositions. I'll update
this review in the future.
The food is pretty good! Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of variety compared to other vegan/ vegetarian restaurants. What brings the rating down for me is the cashier. She seems like she has an attitude (unfriendly, not wanting to answer questions, and seeming like customers are an inconvenience to her). I went a yet ago and it was the same thing. The manager and cook in the back are great! It just sucks because the bad service is the only reason why I will not return to Land of Kush.
I went to LOK a couple days ago to get some Vegan food. And I must say that I was disappointed and highly unsatisfied. The food was either flavorless or overly seasoned. The chicken salad wrap was flavorless like someone scaled back on the salt and dill. The crab cakes were overly seasoned with Old Bay which in itself is salty and it was soggy in the middle...not cool. The drummies were possibly the only item I wasn't highly upset about but it wasn't exactly taste bud blowing. The Pasta Salad was Bland and tasteless...it needed salt just a bit, it was filling but no satisfying. I can tell that there is a lack of effort that is no longer present in terms of the food preparation. It's not the same...not even from two years ago...
I loved the food. The only suggestion I have is to take the peppers out of the eggplant "parm" and add tomato sauce. You can taste the oil too much. Tomato sauce balances out the oils in Italian dishes, which is why strong tasting oils and/or garlic(which is strong) can be used in the 1st place.
Food is good! Placed an order for pickup and the food was ready in time and tasted fresh! It was delicious and I would most definitely continue to come back and try more things on their menu! The pasta salad was great and so was the chicken wrap!
I Love this Place... I have MS your food encouraged me to change my way of living... Thank you.. I don't make much money but this is my treat when I can... I will never forget your food .. Changed my Life.. Love and Respect
really great tasting food! lots of flavor. Definitely soul food I would eat again!
Love the owners, love the ambience, love the food. They make vegan a preferred choice
I'm not vegan or even vegetarian (my girlfriend is) but I can honestly say that was the best food I've had in a while. The mac and cheese was creamy and it kind of blew my mind. The eggplant parm was also amazing, and I'm not a huge fan of curry chicken but even that was great. We're going back at least once a month.
Today I dined in and I would have to say I was very disappointed. I'll start from the top , I walked in and immediately noticed the sitting area was messy. The tables had smudges on them as if they have been eaten on all day with out being wiped down after customers. There was also a used plate on one of the tables that caught my attention. When I finally was able to order my food, cashier number 1 did not greet me but instead blankly stared at me until I opened my mouth to order. Even though she barely made eye contact and wasn't very friendly she did get my order correct .The food came out nice and hot just how I prefer but the taste was everything short of great. I ordered the lentil burgers, candied yams, cabbage, and black tea. I'll start with the yams and cabbage which tasted exactly the same, sweet and sour, the only thing that separated them was that I knew them apart from one another. I've never had sour candied yams, always thought that candied meant sweet. Now I will say that the lentil burgers, I did enjoy. Although I've never had lentil burgers before today, I can't compare them to any other. When I was finished with my meal, I then waited at the cash register for 2-3 minutes where I witnessed cashier number 2 throw receipts and a pen on the counter at a customer. Cashier number 2's demeanor was just rude. Her body language, low monotone voice, and lack of eye contact seemed as if she was having a bad day. As I was standing next in line, the cashier walked away without making me aware that she would help me momentarily or not help me at all. Another employee then walked over and helped me . He seemed to be in higher spirits then both of the cashiers I encountered. My over all experience here today was very disappointing. From the reviews I've read, I expected a friendly atmosphere and well flavored food. I will not be returning, nor will I recommend anyone I know to this restaurant. The best part about my experience was the black tea.
I am rating this a three only because of the customer service. The lady that rang is up and took the order had POOR customer service etiquette. The cook gave us 7 drummies instead of the 8 that we paid for and once it was brought to his attention he didn't correct it. The did was food but nothing to right home about. But I will say that if the service wasn't so bad I would have given a better star rating
Cool vibe and even cooler music. My friends and I wanted to copy their playlist! I wish they had more vegetable options and less soy based products but the ribs were very good. The yams were pretty good too. I wasn't a fan of the greens but I enjoyed the experience overall.
I went here after it being recommended and me GOOGLE-ing vegan food spots. I must admit. The food was WONDERFUL. The staff was very kind and patient, as this was first time there and I was trying to see what I wanted. The half & half was, (swallows hard), DELICIOUS!! I was very impressed with the freshness of my food, the TASTE, and the service. Also, I noticed the containers the food were in was biodegradable. (that's important to me) Just overall impressed with everything. Can't wait to go back. I drove from Harford County and will do so again, without hesitation. PLEASE DONT CHANGE!!!
Delicious and satisfying! Food was ready quickly. Good size servings but not toooooo much. Staff were nice. Props for the biodegradable to go containers!
I started to become a regular here about 2 months ago all because I was looking for a Vegan/Vegetarian Restaurant, and I heard many good things about them. My first visit, I tried the Kush Ribs and Spinach Lasagna, with the Live Kale salad, Vegan Mac & Cheese, Yams and the Coconut Curry Cabbage ......(pause, this was seriously delicious and I am craving going there as I write this review) and I must say that it was so delicious, I found myself returning every week. They sell Vegan Crabcakes on the weekends so our family will plan to purchase more just so that we can last through the weekend. This place is an excellent starter for anyone looking to begin the Vegan/Vegetarian journey because the food is so savory, you actually forget that you aren't eating meat. I would recommend Land of Kush to all Carnivores and Herbivores alike because they simply make delicious food!
Today I and my husband decided to try The Land Of Kush for the first time. I got crab cakes with Mac n cheese. My husband got ribs. I was happy with my food, but what really made me fall in love with this place was my husband’s reaction. He is not the type of man that eats anything without meat. Me, I’m trying to change my diet to a vegan diet so I’m a little use to it. He couldn’t believe the cornbread was actually vegan cornbread. So thank you, The Land Of Kush for giving my husband an amazing experience. We will definitely be coming back.
The food here is absolutely delicious! Never in my life did I think I'd have a vegan crabcake and LOVE it. I am always satisfied after a meal here. The only reason I am giving three stars is for the customer service. The girl who has taken my order three times in the past two months has been terrible. Yesterday was the last straw. I approached the counter and she asked me what I wanted. Twice, I had to restart my order because she would turn around and talk to the other workers. Then, when she finally put my order through, it came out incorrect (not the first time this has happened).
I brought a friend with me to show her how good the food was, but waiting about 15 minutes for our food to literally be scooped out and placed on plates was unacceptable. It took us another 5 minutes after our food came out to get our drinks. I'd understand this if it were busy, but there were only four others in the restaurant.
I'll continue coming to LoK, but you guys need to step up your customer service game.
Ok, I am back at it. Awesome food, good music nice environment. The cashier is very pleasant and welcoming now. Thank you!
My favorite place... They have made my transition so much easier... Lentil burgers, mac n cheese and greens are delicious... And don't forget your sweet tea!!
The Land of Kush has been one of my favorite go to vegetarian restaurants for years in Baltimore. Caribbean inspired, this food is seasoned and delicious. The curry "chicken" is good. The "ribs" are too. This isn't a vegetarian cuisine that you find everyday so when I am in the area I stop by and grab some food. You MUST try the cornbread. Definitely some of the best cornbread in town.
Be prepared to stand in line. They have the best vegan fast food I have ever had. Very high quality and inventive. Loved it and would stand in line for two hours to eat there again.
First time dining @ the Land of Kush. Ordered the vegan crab cakes, sides mac & cheese and cocount curry cabbage. Overall, not bad. However, both the mac & chees and cabbage were room temperature. I like my food hot. The vegan crab cakes were excellent. Will go again
I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in this restaurant. I came into town for one day only due to my job and Ubered ($15), there and back to my hotel. The food was horrible. It wasn't a very welcoming atmosphere as most vegetarian/vegan resturants are. I ordered the spinach lasagna, smoked greens, and yams :(. The spinach lasagna wasn't completely hot and the top layer of vegan cheese overpowered the entire dish,(it turned to mush) thumbs down!!The smoked greens were so bland; I asked for vinegar and hot sauce. The person behind the counter then advised me they had no hot sauce (what "soul food" resturant doesn't have hot sauce?? Even if you make it yourself ... I was baffled) and again thumbs down. Lastly, the yams were SOUR ( yes, I was completely confused) how in the world can you COMPLETELY destroy yams. Yams are the simplest dish in the history of "soul food." I should have known something was wrong when the cashier recommended the yams over the Mac & Cheese (no one on earth passes up Mac & cheese). When you choose to become vegan you don't forfeit FLAVOR, PRESENTATION, and GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. And then to sit in the restaurant while having to fan off huge flies. I absolutely hate wasting money and this WASN'T worth a penny. Mind you I'm of Jamaican and Cuban decent, everything was watered down ( flavor is extremely important)!! My advice: Hire a new cook, change the menu, and start from scratch!! Just AWFUL!!!
Sincerely, the only honest review!!
Good tasting vegan food - almost good enough for me to stop eating meat. The meatless ribs are quite good, the mac & cheese very tasty. Friendly service.
I absolutely love this place not only is the food great and delicious the customer service in the staff and the people are excellent and nice
Excellent food and so happen to be close to work. Curry eggplant is some of the best curry i've ever had. Unfortunately, mac's just not mac without real cheese to me. I can't say theirs really swayed my opinion, so I can't objectively knock off a point for a difference in taste. I definitely want to share the tuna in the pic with my non-veg parents. All in all, excellent place even if some more "veganized" options are a miss.
Delicious, abundant and reasonable price. Truly delicious, you can't even tell is vegan. We will come back for sure!!!!!
Our first time here and it was amazing. I had the ribs, greens, and mac n cheese. It all was good. Shay was very helpful and very pleasant as well as the lady that took our order. I'm by far vegan and didn't think i would enjoy it as much.
Visited The Land of Kush as part of Baltimore's Vegan Weekend in February. Five stars for the food - out of this world! The vegan crab cakes were crazy delicious, and my husband's BBQ ribs were melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Sides awesome too - collard greens, curried cabbage, and of course, lots of mac 'n cheese. The cornbread was good too - freshly made, sweet, but not too sweet.
The only reason I give four stars is for the small space (looong line out the door); they need a larger dining area.
My first meal here was GREAT ! I have to pick up another meal and verify the deliciousness of this place lol!
Service was fast and clean, I just began transitioning to a vegetarian lifestyle and I was very pleased with my first meat substitute .
It's important to never over eat! I've eaten enough to satisfy my lunch craving, my chicken and curry actually lasted me three days :) in my work fridge
Will be back soon!
Used to be a favorite but unfortunately it seems that they've changed the recipe for both their Mac and cheese and the breading for their chick'n drumsticks within the past year or so, neither of which were improvements in my opinion. The new breading for the drumsticks is very grainy and dry, while the Mac and cheese now seems more bland. I still love this place and the couple that runs it seem super sweet, but would love it even more if they changed the recipes back!
One of the best vegan places in baltimore, love the staff and mac and cheese is a must. Curry tofu wrap is also great. Affordable and delicious, definitely stop by if you can
Ultimate satisfaction. We stopped here on our fully-vegan cross-country road trip from Boston to San Diego, and I can confidently say that the Land of Kush was the best vegan restaurant on our trip. The staff and manger were so nice and friendly. And the food was so delicious that I still crave it to this day.
Great vegan soul food and a relaxed atmosphere. All of the employees were super helpful and friendly.
Delicious food, in a funky space. I usually get my lunch to go. One platter is enough for 2-3 meals. I love the chickun curry!
Horrible customer service. Waited two hours for a piece of cornbread that I asked for 3 times. Went there with 3 others and it took so long they finished their food and left ...complete waste of time. Literally sat infrint of the register and they still forgot I was there and THERE AS BARELY ANYINE THERE . I work in customer service so I have and understand patience but 2 hours is unacceptable. Food was good but I'm not going back. Not worth the trip
EVERYTHING my wife and I ordered (crab cakes, carrot tuna, candied yams, chickun curry, mac n cheese, coconut curry cabbage, iced tea and lemonade) was FANTASTIC! LOVE THIS PLACE! MY FAVORITE NEW VEG!! Service was great as well, bathroom was clean, hardly a wait time for food, NO COMPLAINTS! THANK YOU! LONG LIVE THE LAND OF KUSH!!!
I came here when they were very new and alot of people didn't know about this place. I am NOT a vegetarian or vegan but, my bf at time was going through a phase so, we tried it. He loved the food. I had a lot of sad faces and confusion. Everything looked like it was something it wasn't. The "ribs" aren't ribs. The "macaroni and cheese" is something else. It wasn't horrible food. I just don't eat this type of food.
I'm not vegan myself but my husband is. The food was AWESOME! A Soulfood Vegan Joint! Genius! The place was packed when we came for lunch. I had the BBQ ribs, mac & cheese was BANGING! totally recommend this place for everyone not just Vegans!
One of the best vegan restaurants I've ever been to. The food tastes really good and I had really quick service. They have a lot of options and they have really good prices. If you like vegan restaurants and you're in the area you gotta go here.
I tried the eggplant Parmesan and the macaroni and cheese. I would recommend both of them. I want to try the other options when I go back, but I would get both of those again too.
The Land of Kush is making my transition from omnivore to vegan a truly joyful experience! The food is great and delicious. The service and treatment are excellent! I eat from there several times per week. Vegan crab cakes, vegan Mac and cheese, coconut curry cabbage, lentil burgers, on and on... Love it!
Incredible food, staff and service. If you aren't already eating at Land of Kush, you need to go fix that asap.
It's a great lunch spot, but we've also had them cater events and they always do a phenomenal job.
Amazing chicken salad, kale salad, yams! Chill vibe, everyone helpful. Love the whole none! Came from DC just to check it out... worth the trip :)
Absolutely incredibly delicious - my favorite place for vegan food in Baltimore! Fast service and so many great options to choose from. I'd recommend this place to anyone.
I'm thankful for a black owned vegan restaurant, but land of kush missed the mark for me. I first found out about the restaurant on you tube which was a great introduction by a local physical trainer. My expectations was first tarnished upon entering the restaurant as we waited the place needed to be swept, windows cleaned mac and cheese cleaned off a table, which was ignored for way too long, had to be brought to employees attention by another patron. The staff could use some serious customer service training simple things such as Hi how are you doing, have a great day, please come back again, were opportunities missed for repeat business and a pleasant memorable experience. I spoke to a person pretending to be a manager who lack the same customer service skills, about my bad experience and the individual never introduced themselves, never apologize for the bad experience or offer the opportunity to correct the issues. I spoke to a so called manager so I would not have to go to social media but when my attempt was met with a lackadaisical attitude
Here we are. I would not recommend this place just off , of the lack of enthusiasm. The food by the way gets a 7 for me on a scale of 1 to 10. My recommendations are Nu vegan cafe, and The Great Sage, great food good customer service.
First time here and I loved it. It was my first time trying vegan food so I was a little nervous. I got the spinach lasagna and my boyfriend got the eggplant curry. Both were delicious and very tasty. A great first experience with vegan food. Only small issue was with cashier that was there when I asked for two cups of water. Gave me tap water with no ice and seemed a little bothered when I requested ice. Other than that, cool spot. Will def patron often.
Love it! Vegan mac and cheese cheese was amazing. Salad dishes great. Hot dishes were distinct in flavors especially the green curry and bbq dishes. Staff very friendly. Generous portions. Price range from $10 to $14.
I have fallen in love with this place. The ribs, Mac and cheese, and kale salad were to die for. I also purchased two bags of popcorn and a piece of corn bread and they were the perfect finale. The employees and owner were gracious and accommodating. My only gripe is that the place has been there 6-7 years and I'm just finding out about It!
Great vegan style food with many options! It's one of the best restaurants for vegan soul food in Baltimore. From regularly trying their menu options, I would recommend the BBQ Rib Tips, the Crab Cakes (only on the weekend). They even have a rewards card to rack up points from your purchases. Very friendly staff and excellent local restaurant to dine at too!
The restaurant at times will mix up orders -especially GrubHub - and appear to be overwhelmed whenever they have large volumes of orders. Their location is the size of a medium-sized carryout which can make the lines long often and for limited seating. In the future, I hope they continue to scale while adding more great food selections.
As a non-vegan I wasn't impressed. The service was lacking--they completely forgot about the salads I ordered so we got them 15 min after the entrees were served. The spinach lasagna was good. I couldn't take more than one bite of the Mac n cheese, the kale salad was too salty and the tomato and cucumber salad was completely bland. The BBQ ribs were ok. However, if you are a vegan you will probably enjoy this place and those I dined with did enjoy it, hence why I'm giving it 5 stars. It wasn't for me though. I'd also suggest that they hire at least one waitress during peak hours so that guests don't have to keep getting up to come to the counter to get their food that comes up sporadically.
The staff is really polite and the food is really good. This restaurant changed my views on vegan food. The "chicken" salad, curry "chicken" and "ribs" taste so good. I am more inspired to become a vegan. Thanks
This place is the ultimate vegan soul food treat. The food delightfully dances on your tongue and the staff are very friendly. They put a nice portion of happiness on your plate and the prices won’t break the bank. If you are visiting Baltimore or a native, and you haven’t made it to the Land of Kush. Make your way!
I visited here as a part of Vegan Restaurant week 4 wks ago. The cashier was friendly but he didn't have much knowledge on vegan products so he couldn't answer my sister's questions, our orders wasn't correct, the vegan eggs tasted like rubber and overly seasoned with some type of curry paste (I assumed) the vanilla blueberry smoothie good, blueberry pancakes was good. The potato wedges wasn't seasoned, I would go back for the drinks only but I wouldn't eat here again. This is just my opinion so please don't let this view stop u. Just give you some insight of my experience.
I tend to come on Saturdays when the place is packed. It might be small in here but you never feel confined in the space. The staff is friendly and quick with preparing the meals. I love the seating at the big open windows up front. Gives the best view of what is happening outside and all the hot men coming inside. I love the lentil burgers, crab cakes and mac n cheese. A great spot to get vegan food. The quality can be like playing roulette with your taste buds on non busy weekdays. I've come in town during the week several times and the mac n cheese was dry. Also there have been times the gravy had no flavor and it was more like brown water with onions. There is more good than bad happening here so I keep returning. Ever since they started carrying Donut Alliance sweets, this vegan pops in more often for my savory soul food and sweet delights.
As a Canadian, it is always such a pleasure to come down south and enjoy some vegan soul food - and The Land of Kush is no exception. A hint of BBQ with my collards? Don't mind if I do. One of the most compelling Mac and cheese sauces I've ever had, and a stunning heavy that anyone would be happy to smother all over anything, let alone two utterly satisfying lentil patties. 👌
This place makes a good argument for being vegan. We had the lentil burgers and gravy, collard greens, Mac and cheese, candied yams, and spinach lasagna.
The lentil burgers were right and had a great crispy exterior. Inside was warm and had the approximate texture of scrapple. The gravy brought it home hard, so good.
The Mac and cheese is almost life changing. Seriously, I prefer it to the "real" stuff.
The candied yams were a game changer. You cant go wrong with how fresh and well prepared they were. This is a dessert for sure!
I'll be coming back again at every opportunity.
Absolutely love this place! The food is tasty, always comes out quickly and the staff is awesome! One time our catering order got messed up, and they gave us extra food to make up for it. Now that is great customer service :)
Yummy! Vegetarian and vegan selection. I went twice in one week and ordered the same thing each time; lentil burger. It tasted different each time, but was still yummy. Maybe the had a different chef. It looked like each iten was made from scratch when ordered. The juices were delicious as well. Will go again. Street parking is not ample, be sure to read the signs as to not get a citation.
I had the "ribs" which was more like a veggie stew it was very good. I also had the mac n cheese and I was not a fan, but don't let that stop you from trying it. My daughter liked it she has problems with dairy so for her I think this was a tasteful compromise. My husband is a total meat eater and I have been trying to incorporate some vegan meals into his diet and he said he liked it, but I don't think so. That is 3 different personalities with varying opinions. I also had the greens for me they were under seasoned. I can make greens without meat and they have more taste. I think with salt and vinegar they would have been fine for me because that's how I like my greens. The cornbread was more like sweet bread, but it was very tasty. I would say try it you might like it. I would definitely go again for the ribs and also try other menu items. Again, this is definitely a must try place. I would give it 5 stars, but gave it 4 for my own personal tastebud issues. It is a cozy place so don't bring a big group with you expecting to eat it in.
I'm definitely NOT a vegan, but I was curious about "vegan soul food" after hearing a lot of positive things about Land of Kush. BBQ ribs were "meaty" and flavorful. Overall positive experience, not bad on the wallet either. Only reason I gave 4 stars was because a lot of the menus is soy based, and I'm not a huge soy fan and would have liked to have seen more vegetable based "meats".
The food rates 5 stars for me; the small, crowded seating lowers the rating. Wonderful staff members who clearly believe in promoting the healthy and ethical vegan diet. Stop in for literature about upcoming events as well as for a great meal! Since my spouse finds the food too hot spicy, I'm always looking for opportunities to go there with friends. The price is mid-range, which is great for such a nutritious and delicious alternative.
Great place to visit for delicious vegan food. They have a nice selection of made to order food and juices with dishes of the day. They also sell vegan donuts which are a little too pricey to eat often but they are delicious! I do not like the location because it is always congested in that area and the parking is limited. That is the reason I gave them 4 stars.
I eat here often and love the food! My must haves are the crab cake wrap, sesame spinach, and chicken salad. Some items can be hit or miss but I will continue to try different things when I go. Be prepared to wait during peak hours and get the persons name who takes your order over the phone. I've had a few mishaps in the past but they are always friendly and correct any issues that arise. Overall, great food + nice people!
I'm not a vegetarian, so I didn't find anything to please my palate. But the food quality was one of a kind. Clean, and very unique dishes. Absolutely no meat.
If you, like me, come here to support your vegetarian friend, try their mac and cheese. It's AMAZING.
I have nothing but nice things to say about this place. Although busy the employees were nice and professional. The food was great. Its not soul food with southern favors. Its soul food that not only nourish the body but the soul. The soul because you know that it is ethically sourced. Please open one in Baltimore County we need it.
Food is great. They’ve upgraded the cash register, which is nice. However, when I called in my order, the music was so loud the employee couldn’t here me, nor I her. Instead if turning down the music, she asked my info repetitively before getting my order down. This is something that can be fixed easily.
First off I am no vegetarian! I did enjoy everything that was on my plate... BBQ ribs, curry chicken, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese. Did not try the collard greens, as the medication I take won't allow me. I was the first timer, the food was good and I would almost consider becoming a vegetarian if I could cook it. Only issue was, would have liked the overall temperature of my food come out a little hotter than it was... I took away a star for that reason. Do not live in the area however, definitely worth making the trip if you are! By the way, I did enjoy a piece of sweet potato cake to go, and the vinegar in it gave it a unique flavor, needless to say I enjoyed that also.
The eggplant lasagna took my taste buds on a magical journey into flavorful Vegan land. The Krabcakes are also packed with flavor. They even have healthy juice like sorrel. Furthermore you get a good sized portion. I'm was able to eat some at lunch and dinner. This is the BEST VEGAN RESTAURANT IN BALTIMORE.
This place was awesome need more stars because the food is so good it melts info your mouth. So delicious you would feel guilty eating it. The staff and owner was kind, warm and welcoming I highly recommend this place of your ever in Baltimore or headed towards DC or nearby it is so worth the drive.
I wish I lived closer but I will definitely visit again. It's a home away from home the food is truly spectacular if you like soulfood this is the ultimate vegan experience.
Land of Kush is amazing. Service is always prompt and quick and the food is a delicacy from the gods. Whenever I go there I get the food within 5-10 minutes, even if it's it lunch or dinner rush. Every member of the staff does their job exceptionally well and everyone who visits leaves happy.
I did take out for my sis and I and LOVED it. It was my first time here and definitely will return. I had the lentil patties and m sis had the curried chickun...sides of greens, mac and cheese and yams were on point. Hats off to everyone in that kitchen!!!!
I must also add that the response to reviews both positive and opportunities are wonderfully handled and gracious. I love seeing that. I will definitely come back when visiting from Philly.
I had a vegan meal that consist of potato salad, yams ,collard greens ,mac and cheese , vegan ribs and cornbread. I wanted to experience the whole meal . I had it to take out and It was outstanding ! The quality of the food was very good. I was surprised at the BBQ Ribs. It was full of favor and very tasty . My daughter and my wife had the same meal and they had varying opinions. My daughter loved it and my wife not so much. I would give everything an A except the mac and cheese which I rated a B . I visited from Ohio and it will be my first stop upon my return. I will go to the restaurant in person next time. Excellent and Outstanding !!
PSA: this eatery is NOT JUST FOR VEGANS nor the personal health and planetary conscious community. It’s darn good cooking! Somebody mama is in the kitchen putting her foot in every delectable dish featured and offered at this restaurant. The prices are reasonable when you consider the quality of the ingredients used to prepare the symphonic onslaught of deliciousness that enters your mouth. The staff is friendly, efficient, and a sight for sore eyes. The facility is clean, safe, and has a good vibe. Eat here often! Invest is the community.
This place is awesome! Great for a vegan. The food is good, the service excellent and the atmosphere inviting. And I love that they are professional, customer friendly Black Americans. I feel proud. God bless them!
hmmmm...where do I start?? They are PRICEY. I LOVE mac & cheese and are looking for a more healthy,non-dairy option. Tried the Special Platter at Land. $12.49-One Entree' + Two Sides OR Salads(or mix & match). Got the Entree'- Spinach Lasagna. It was okay. Didn't like the 'stems' in it. They could remove those first!. The two Sides- Mac & Cheese & Candid Yams. The yams and the mac & cheese were both good for NON-Dairy dishes. I just have to get my taste buds used to non-salt/non-dairy foods. I would order both those Sides AGAIN. The Lasagna...MAYBE. They ONLY give you about a spoonful of the Side items in those sectioned containers. Normally the sides are about $ 4.99. That is pricey for a spoonful. I CANNOT say if you'll get that small of
an amount if you just order the Sides separately(not w/in the Platter). I might go back there to do that to see. Wanted to try the Sweet Potato Cake, they didn't have it. I have HEARD...(HEARD) that they do use OIL. I CANNOT say for sure. So, if you are SOS=Salt,Oil,Sugar FREE, YOU WILL HAVE TO ASK about the items ingredients because their website menu doesn't really tell you if Oil is used in them. The Kale Chips(BBQ- $4.99) were good(minus the stems!). Didn't taste much BBQ flavor though.
Parking is on the street, so depending on the time of day--you might be hard pressed to find a spot!!!.
Unfortunately, young people working in customer service, must have ongoing etiquette training. I just left there and was disappointed with the service. I asked what kind of cakes do you have? He told me, whatever is up there in the case. I instantly almost lost it. However, I realized this young man need more training and guidance. When you come from another state to support a business, it discourages you. I spent $40.00 there today. I will be back again from Jersey and hope to speak with the owners next time.
So it’s my first time coming to this restaurant but I like the atmosphere and the fact that I had an opportunity to sample some stuff! I really enjoyed the Kush BBQ Ribs and the fried eggplant, he owner was really nice! I’ll definitely will be back
We are not vegan but didn't miss the meat or dairy one bit with this awesome meal. We ordered the crab cakes, collards, "tuna" carrot salad, sesame spinach and pasta salad. It was all amazing. The crab cakes and spinach are two things I will definitely come back for. I also can't wait to try their "ribs."
We drive over 100 miles just to eat here. This is how vegan food is supposed to taste. It taste like the home cooked comfort meals you are growing up, but the awesomeness of having no animal by product. I would recommend there mac and cheese and crab cakesn
The Mac & cheese was not good. The ginger tea is delicious and sweet, but the restaurant food lacks flavor. I did appreciate the fact that they cut up all there veggies and they appeared to be fresh produce. The best on the menu was the ribs.
The staff were awesome and the food was super good. They allowed us to try differently items on the menu and I loved everything I tried. Ribs were amazing. Can't wait to try the curry
This was my first time here and I was very pleased. My son and I ordered the crab cakes and barbecue ribs but I did not tell my son it was vegetarian. He said it was delicious! Then I shared the surprise that what he'd just eaten was not indeed meat⚘
First timer. The place is " cozy ". A few tables and chairs and a bar along the window. Just enough to make it crowded. I had the chickun salad. Very taste and the portion size to price was more then fair. As a first timer to vegan food, I would try it again.
This place is worth every bit of effort it takes to get here! The food is amazing... The crab cakes are incredible, and the BBQ ribs are melt in your mouth good. The collards never disappoint, and in a huge fan of the live kale salad too. If you're looking for plant based options in the Baltimore area put Land of Kush at the top of your list!
Great vegan food. Tastes like the food we use to eat that was not vegan. So very delicious. Thanks for the great dinner. If we lived here we would definitely eat here again and again!
The macaroni and cheese, "crab" cakes, sweet potatoes, and curry chickun were all spot on! Reasonable prices too. I will definitely be returning.
I usually only visit when they first open on Saturdays. The Kale salad is second to only one other that I've had and I've tried Kale salads from enough paces to know. The touch of avacado brings a uniqueness to the taste. My nephew eats everything (except desserts and such) off the menu and loves it! The food is fresh, hot and delicious. Rewards program available.
goid Vegan...and I am not even vegan. This is one of those places that doesn't look like much but, don't let looks fool you. The food was delicious! I enjoyed curry chicken, baked Mac n cheese and cucumber tomato salad. My fork also dove into spinach with garlic and sesame oil and potato salad that my friends had ordered. Everything was GOOD!
I have to admit that I really enjoyed the food and space in the space here. The food was so flavorful and really had to everything right! I would go back here in a heartbeat. I ordered the collard greens, mac and cheese, and "ribs" and was blown away at how it all tasted so good. It reminded me of some good down south home cooking.
I've stopped by Land of Kush many times for a quick, delicious vegan meal on the way in our out of Baltimore. The service here is always super friendly and the food never fails to disappoint.
Parking is fairly easy on-street, although I've never stopped when it's been really busy (like during a lunch hour), so your mileage may vary on that one.
If you love vegan (or vegetarian) comfort food, this is a must-stop. There's plenty of seating indoors if you plan on staying, but if you've got to go, everything is packed to go anyway! Don't pass this one up.
Nice neighborhood spot! The food was really flavorful! I ordered the lentil wrap, mac n "cheese" and greens. I would definitely recommend them all
So I'm new to the vegan world, so was a bit nervous. I ordered the veggie wrap and maple nut crunch smoothie. It was amazing! So then I went back to get something to take to lunch. I ordered the lentil burger. So to not be meat it was ok, the gravy definitely helped. The portion sizes are generous. I didn't like the mac and cheese. Since we went around dinner I expected it to be dead but turned out quite the opposite. Be prepared to wait.
Overall the food and service was good. They were out of carryout menus and there was no listing of nutrition information online or in the store. So without that I will not be able to continue to eat there as I really need to watch my sugar and sodium intake.
I loved this place years ago but lately their food has become extremely salty to me. I'm not sure if it's because I cook most of my own meals or what but they need to dial back on that salt.
Everything was awesome - the crabcrakes the greens and the ginger drink was awesomely super gingery with gobs of fresh ginger. The staff is super friendly and patient and chill and I can’t think of a better place for value and quality at the price. And I’m not even vegan - my ex is and she took me there.
I'm only giving this restaurant a 5 because, if you are a true vegan you will appreciate the food. Menu has great options and is prepared with expertise. Very impressive with the creativity and thought process into opening a vegan restaurant. If you are not a vegan, to really enjoy it, just be open minded. And be aware the texture of food is different from previous diets.
My Mom loves the oxtails, Mac 'n cheese and collard greens. The peach cobbler dessert didn't look appealing so she didn't eat it. I will definitely be back for more.
It was heartwarming to see teenagers working the front and really showing what they can do when given the opportunity. Your company is definitely an asset to so many communities.
Small space but really great food and service. Nothing like soul food that is vegan! Chikun curry and Mac n cheese and collard greens were all so good. The place was super busy for dinner hour. Prepare to wait.
Good was amazing. I'm not the kind of guy who normally seeks out the vegetarian food, but this place is really good. Staff will help you find what you need but they certainly aren't pushy. My only complaint would be getting there. Some of the neighborhoods around aren't very nice, so take a taxi to get there and back to your home or hotel.
I stopped in Baltimore on the way back home from a trip and decided to try this place out. I thought the food was very good and the staff was friendly. I enjoyed the atmosphere and thought that the food was priced fairly. If I'm back in the area again, I would definitely go back.
I've eaten at this place a few times before, but now that I live much closer, and I've been ordering from them more, I've realized I need to show some...read this and 449 more
