How would you rate The Jerk Pit?
One of my go to places for West Indian food. You can easily past it on Rt 1 since it looks like a house but you can get some of the best jerk around here. MY favorite thing on the menu is the jerk tofu. It's usually crispy and then has some serious kick with the jerk seasoning. That and all the fish dishes are made to order so expect a wait to get those. The sides are good here as well and unlike many restaurants in the area they have a bar area and are open until ten. So you can get your fix late at night.
Let me first say for those non-believers, I am not friends with any of the staff here, as a matter of fact this was my first of many times eating art this establishment. When I walked in the staff was extremely friendly which is a big deal for me because I don't spend my money whenever I don't feel welcomed! In fact I was greeted by several staff members! My family is from Jamaica so I'm no stranger to Caribbean food and Jerk Pit is THE BEST spot in the area (and I've tried several) and non compare to Jerk Pit! The owner came over to seeHow my meal was and I starred with her how pleased I was. The dj was a great touch, I instantly for excited about my trip to Jamaica next month. I can't wait to take my husband to Jerk Pit!
I Love the jerk pit..for anyone complaining about noise, u shuldnt eat a spot run by Jamaicans..u damn rite it mine as well be a club YOUR AT A JAMAICAN RESTUARANT
I knew "The Jerk Pit" when it was smaller scale located at Campus Village. The owner, cook, etc. at the time was too busy flirting to recognize a customer, me, waiting to order. Strike one. The curry chicken roti was okay, but nothing out of the ordinary. Years later it moved across and up the street, not too terribly far from Pizza Hut. The woman was rude, sarcastic and nowhere near nice (actual friends or the employees themselves must be writing the reviews - "Google User"...) and the entire restaurant was extremely loud - you'd think it was a club/bar. Strike two. There won't be a "strike three" because I'm not returning to give them the opportunity.
This place prepared the most awesome jerk chicken.
jerk chicken was fresh tastes good but needed more spices ,patties was also good, rice and p wasn't fresh at all,but overall experience was good and I'll definitely go back for a bite there , best jerk chicken, hands down.
Long wait, but definitely well rewarded with authentic Caribbean flavor within fresh, home-cooked taste dishes. Jerk Chicken and Jerk Pork were superb. Jerk Red Snapper with Curry Shrimp Seafood Combo was also unsurpassed. The only personal nit-pick point I have is that the Seafood Combo would've been perfect if there were less sugar/sweetness.The Jerk Pit is now the newest member on our favorite restaurants list!
This place is amazing we had our food catered from here . Everyone was in love with their food especially the Curry Chicken, jerk & Cabbage It is to die for. I would recommend this place to anyone this.
I see why they call this Jerk pit. it really is a pit! I will not eat here ever again. I went here for a friends birthday party of five and I ordered the Curry Goat. My meal was very cold and the meat was very tough and full of fat. Also a friend of my ordered a chicken roti as curried shrimp, and the roti skin was hard and tough. I even order rum cake as well and they gave me the potato cake instead and persisted it was the rum, which was very dry and old. I do not recommend this eat at this place. The only good thing about this place is friendly staff but the food is terrible. My friend told me that this meal was the worst birthday meal she had ever had.
The food was delicious.! There was a long wait but it was worth it.! Secondly
The lady at the register was rude.! Her customer service was horrible.! She messed up on one of the orders which We didn't mine but she also was about to take another couples order before ours after waiting 10-15mins with NO GREETING.! BOTTOM LINE.!!! Jerk PIt if you want to have a bright future in business WATCH who you HIRE.! Thanks and Bless..
Good food. But if you're not dark skinned and can speak island dialect...you'll see why it's called the "jerk" pit. Just not a friendly place. It's a shame, food was good.
I love this place. It gives you the ambience of Jamaica right in college park and the food is BANGING! My only suggestion would be to try a do have more ORDER when taking orders etc..it can get very chaotic in there and there is nothing worst than being looked over and youve been standing there waiting. But other than that I love that place!
Jerk pit is a wonderful restaraunt with great food and a great ambiance. The music is relaxing and always puts me in a great mood. Try the jerk snapper and oxtails they are delicious..Give everything on the menu a chance it will not disappoint. The homemade juices are made with love so fresh and tasty. If you are trying to relax and satisfy that craving for a Jamaican treat. Visit the beautifully decorated house on baltimore ave.
We went on a Saturday night when a roots reggae band was performing so the vibe was really nice. Plus the restaurant serves alcohol so that added to the mellow adult mood. The owner and workers were pleasant and the food was great. I ordered callalo and saltfish, which was so fresh, and jerk chicken which was excellent. If you'd like to order any of their other fish dishes, you have to go during non-peak times otherwise it could take anywhere from 30-45 minutes to fulfill that order. It's made to order, but I had to pass due to the wait time.
The Oasis lounge up stairs was amazing, I was there on December 4, 2015, but the one female bartender was so rude, I wanted to leave, I tried to explain my issue with the other bartender and he acted like he couldn't resolve my issue, finaly the third bartender came from behind the bar, I think his name was D, he addressed my issue with my drinks remade the drinks and they were perfect, I will definitely be back to celebrate my birthday on 12/8/15, you have to try the Lisa special drink, ask D to make it!
Poor customer service is typical and is the norm in these types of restaurants. in every state that I have been to and in all the J'can restaurants in and around MD/DC, no one seems to know good manners and polite customer service. why is that in J'can?
1/8/2016 my company and i order verities of food from this place, the food had no taste, barley meat on the bone, i would never in life order from this place or if it was the last place on earth i would much rather starve before eating this food.. this food looked straight like dog food. you couldn't tell if your eating food from 6 weeks ago or if it was made the day of.. NEVER eat from this place.
Food is outstanding. I love the carribeean vibe that insensate when you walk in.
Prices is good.. Will continue to buy.
Food is nice and warm very tasty.
Only thing I will update is the wait time.. Wait time is very long. Maybe it was just my day I came in but I will continue to support this operation😁
Food is great but the service continuously sucks. I have visited the jerk pit at different times of the day and on different days of the week but it always seems to be the same thing. I enjoy the food here, it's just that the wait times to order are very long and the person at the register is never friendly at all. It's never a pleasant experience. I will have to pass on the jerk pit from now on.
I love the Jerk Pit especially the curry goat. It's always hot and plenty for the coins. I've turned two of my friends onto it too and they loved it as well. The females aren't as courteous as the men in terms of customer service. The wait can be up to 20 mins or so but the food is not disappointing.
Simply the worst. Literally awful. The food its self is alright. The service is absolutely atrocious. Call and put on hold for 8+ minutes while raggedy guy who answered the phone discusses nick names for a fellow employee. Absolutely unprofessional. They also have a constant busy line, most likely a result of putting people on hold and forgetting about them. Don't go here. Try Swahili place down the street on route 1 instead. There stewed meat is better anyway.
This was our first visit. The food was very good; we had the jerk chicken and pork. The plantain and sour dough bread was very good as well. We enjoyed a pineapple ginger fruit drink bottled in Jamaica. The service was fine - the owner stopped by the table to talk with us.
Been hearing so much about this place. I finally made it here. The food was close to Jamaica that you can get. Absolutely excellent. Customer serivce was expectional and with a smile. I love the outdoor area where if give that feeling like I'm in Jamaica. I can't wait to visit again and try another great meal from here. Thank you for my making my first time experience excellent.
The food is decent HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I bought food got the wrong order and they refused to bring me the right order. I didn't ask for a refund I just wanted my food. After I was denied I had to press for a refund. Horrible service, there is no amount of "busy" to condone your staff's customer service skills. And you think the food is so "great" that yall can say whatever you want to a customer spending $14 a plate which is utterly disrespectful, like you guys don't make mistakes. I always ordered from this place previously I used to wonder why people had so many bad comments to leave about this store but I know why now. This place won't see another red penny from me. Totally unsatisfied and frustrated with my Friday night order after waiting 2 hours for delivery to get the wrong order and have to beg for YOUR mistake to be fixed. I have never wrote a comment about any store good or bad, but dealing with the hours of nonsense with this store it had to be done.
The service was typical of that of a Jamaican restaurant. The Jerk chicken sandwich was nothing to brag about, the oxtail was "meh" and the curry goat tasted like water. I gave them 2 stars because the beef patties were yummie. I have been to Jamaican restaurants throughout the DMV and this was my least favorite.
The wife and I eat here the time. Great food! Great music! Great atmosphere!
Tried them while on vacation in the DC area. This was my first time having Jamaican food. Based on the long line to order and pick up food, I had high hopes. I was not disappointed, the food was amazing. We had jerked pork, the chicken combo, and ox tail. Also the bread was the best. I'm sad i didn't buy extra to take home with me, can't wait to visit again.
I FOUND A STAPLE IN MY FOOD! My first visit was three years ago and I enjoyed my food besides the moody staff. The staff were moody once again this time. The place seems clean by appearance and smell, however, something must be wrong if a staple is my food. I'm afraid of what else may be mixed in my rice and peas. Probably would like to return but I won't.
I'll support because the food is good and the owner Lisa is a very nice person but the girl at the front cashier/manager needs customer service training. Someone was ordering, I stood behind him, another guy came in and I guess he was a regular so his order was taken before mine. I ask if there was no line, her response was, I guess not and continued taking his order. The guy even apologized but she didn't care. I know she's been there forever but I can't be the only one who has said something about her. Hopefully this response makes a difference.
Food always great.. Getting the food is the hassle.. Just make sure you go with atleast 30 mins to spare of picking up.. If dining in, spare yourself a couple hours combined time. It's sad when I go and have to walk away and leave my food, nobody wants to do that. Especially after driving 20 minutes to get there. Last but not least, don't try calling in an order anytime after 11:30am
Definitely will no longer come here to spend my hard earned money. I have been coming to this establishment for over a year and never had any issues with the quality of the food. The food is amazing. The customer service here is what's making me no longer give you guys my business. Last night I came in to place an order and one of the cooks came out from the back to ask if me and my friend had been assisted. We said "no but we are ready to order". She proceeded to take our order. At this point I'm already getting a bad vibe from her. She kept giving us attitude. As I was telling her what I wanted to order she put her hand up to me basically to shut me up. She told me to give her a moment. She kept rolling her eyes and her body language just showed she did not want to be there. Finally after she put in the order we proceeded to give her a coupon. Can you believe she going to rudely tell us that the next time we want to use a coupon we need to let her know in the beginning instead of waiting until the last minute. Then she walked off to get someone else to put in the coupon. I told her that I didn't like her attitude and the way she was treating me and my friend so we both walked out and didn't place our order. I'm very disappointed. I never had an issue with staff here every since I been coming here. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or what but that doesn't give you the right to treat your customers this way. If us giving you a coupon to use is such a chore then don't advertise them online for people to come and use.
Beef patties were great but they never had anymore when I went back. This was the only reason why I never gave a five star. Staff Monique was friendly.
The food was great. You can dine in or take out. The fried dumplings are the best.
Loved this food! Had the combo meal of oxtails and curry chicken with rice & peas and plantains and it was delicious. Hubby wanted to try it and I am glad he heard about it and we went. Hope to be able to come back and eat in the lounge and enjoy a drink!
just spent 30 dollars on this mad af my ruce old af hard now i gotta make my own rice .....get it together
The restaurant is beautiful and authentically Jamaican. The food is delicious.
So far a great selection of food in the menu. First time trying Jamaican cuisine. Nice, cozy place to sit and eat. Try the Chicken Sampler Platter. Personnel are good. There are days that they play good reggae downstairs. And upstairs there is a lounge with a bar. Cannot wait to go during summer.
Authentic Jamaican cuisine and atmosphere. One can dine in or take out. Place your order and grab a table. Grab a Red stripe beer, dragon stout and a kola champagne for the light drinkers. Friday and Saturday nights, DJ plays music and locals gather for some laughs and chatter. Highly recommend.
I absolutely love this place. The staff is very friendly and customer service is great. My orders never take too long and the food is always fresh and hot. It's great that there's space upstairs to dance on fridays.
Had an awesome time !! The Jerk Chicken was delicious and well seasoned. It is really authentic Jamaican jerk chicken. The wait times can be a little long but it is definitely worth it.
I visited The Jerk Pit for the first time. I took carry-out order of one whole jerk chicken, plantains, house salad and home made pineapple ginger juice. Man I took my first bite and started murdering the jerk, a wing aa leg. Then I said this is damn good. Let me photo and post how authentic the flavor and taste is. Well that's all for now. I don't want my good food to get cold.
Discrimination, the second time here, had to leave.
The first time I came here the cook came out from the back with a toothpick in his mouth, I told the cashier, that wasn't a good look, and now this.
I know the only reason people come here is because there isn't much Caribbean restaurants around because the food is horrible and the wait, stupid.
I don't know how long they've been in business but tell me how it takes forever to get food...
The only reason I was gonna try it again is because my friend wanted a beer along with his food... and the same reason...
Just moved from New York, I know good tasting food and my friends are great cooks...
I love this place, the food is authentic and the place remind me of home. However, I have issues with how the jerk chicken is prepared/presented. The last I bought some I was really disappointed. The taste was there but it didn't look appetizing. The skin surrounding the meat was so black, that I felt so embarrassed to even open my plate n have someone see what I was eating. My suggestion is to use less seasoning or change what is causing the chicken to be so black. I've uploaded a pic of what I remember jerk chicken to be. I hope you see this comment and take my suggestion under consideration.
Enjoyed the atmosphere. AJ was very helpful. He wiped down our table and checked on us and our food. He is a star here. The food was good too.
I have been coming here since I was in college. They have by far the best jerk pork an chicken in the area. When you are waiting for your food and the door opens you can smell the charcoal and smoke from where they cook the chicken OUTSIDE. They get the perfect jerk flavor by grilling over hot coals. It's a mix of the smoke from the coals, the smoke from the fat of the meat dripping down, and the char on their meat. They are doing their jerk the right way!
After waiting a half an hour for my food I was told that they were out of the item. I'm confused about why it took them so long to realize that. I chose a second item that they STILL didn't have. After picking a third menu item that they didn't have, I gave up. I requested a refund. They didn't put it back on my card instead just gave me cash which I didn't ask for. Two other customers who were waiting on their food when I got there were still waiting when I left. They said they had both been there for an hour picking up an online order. And you can forget about uber eats! It will take 2-3 hours before your food will arrive...if it isn't canceled be the restaurant. Food is good when you actually get it though.
Eat in or take out, great food, fast friendly service, prices about average 8$ and up.. clean and the cashier can definitely multi-task and get your order right.. great !!!
This place is amazing. Food might take a while depending on what you order but it's always worth it. Very nice and large outdoor area also. Oxtails are very good. Goat curry is also very delicious. I've never gotten any food here that was less than great.
The food was great here. I had jerk shrimp (AMAZING), mac and cheese (it was okay), & festival (pretty good), but the service was not. I was trying to call in and could barely even get onto the line. Several items I wanted from the menu were not available. I will return, but most likely on a day I'll have time and patience.
I went with a group of friends to watch Usain Bolts last race. The restaurant was like home. There is plenty of seating outside and inside. It is definitely a place to go and relax for a while. Bring your crew. The food is really good and it takes time to prepare. They have a wicked lounge, cozy VIP areas, great drinks and an amazing DJ. Everyone was hospitable and I have to tell you I had the best time ever!
The food is great. Have visited the Jerk Pit on two different occasions. The first time went mid afternoon for take out. My food took normal time 15-20 minutes. Second time, I went in the evening. Went to their upstairs lounge, which looks amazing for the area, had some food Drunks. My bartender her name was Kae. She makes the best drinks and her customer service won me.
I love to support my Jamaican people. My biggest gripe is that they do not have a system to take phone and online orders. With such central location. They have to find ways to serve the people in a much efficient way. The wait is too long. The food is great. NEVER been disappointed with the food.
The food was delicious I had oxtail platter and my wife had combination platter with jerk chicken and jerk beef. We found this spot online looking for something to eat after visit the black museum. Nice environment with the Jamaican music playing in the background.
I went to Jerk Pit recently with my cuz who was visiting. I had not been there in a while due to the poor customer service. I was pleasantly surprised that the two young ladies who were there that day were really great! Reece and Monique (?) really are a great addition to the team. Due to their great customer service I think I will return. The food was awesome as usual!
Food is excellent. They took a long time to prepare but it was good. I was unable to get through on the phone to call the order in.
Poor customer service.
Insane buffet policy.
Waited in line 10 minutes at least just to order buffet, keep in mind there were only three people in the restaurant at the time. The cashier was continuously interacting with a troublesome customer even after their transaction was completed. Here's a tip, once you move on to the next customer that customer should have 100% of your attention, don't go back and forth with previous customers as it causes frustration for everyone involved.
Buffet policy: 2 plate maximum. Where they do that at? The answer the Jerk Pit. As soon as I heard this I wanted to walk out the door but my wife stopped me. For $20 it should unlimited just like everywhere else on the planet. I've been to places that cost less and allow unlimited visits to the line.
Food quality. So I guess it doesn't help my wife and I had just came from Jamaica and tasted homemade jerk chicken, brown stew, steamed veggies, and ackee salt fish. Every meal we experienced in Jamaica (except for brown stew) was on the bar and it was sadly lacking. Too salty or lacking of flavor.
This visit reminded us why we stopped going here in the first place. Save your time, money, and taste buds and go elsewhere.
Great Jamaican Food!!! I had the Ackee and Salt Fish and my friends got the seafood combo. Snapper was crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside and the shrimp was jumbo size and juicy.
Nice carribean vibes. Feels like u are back home at a real jerk restaurant. They have a mix of Jamaican and Trinidadian along with some African flavor to the music and food...wonderful place
Was recommended by a colleague about this place. To my surprise this as my first actual Jerk chicken I've had. The jerk sauce had a nice spicy bit to it. Rice and bean was good too. Only thing is that it is a very busy place. So expect to wait about 20-30 minutes on average if you go there Friday/Saturday nights based on my experience. Other than that, the food is definitely worth it.
Great vibe. Friendly service although somewhat slow. Steamed cabbage was the best. Jerk Chicken and Oxtail were good. Nice hangout spot.
Ok where do I start. This spot is different. The location of the restaurant makes it hard to get in and out of. The parking lot is unorganized. There was a line out the door which makes me think the food was worth the wait. My order (oxtails coco bread and patty ) took 45 minutes to make. Which is longer than I would like to wait. Cool atmosphere though. Got my food and was upset that I paid 12.50 for a medium oxtails and two sides to only get no rice. No forks or napkins. Food is average
If you want fish or seafood, there is at least a 30 minute wait as it is made to order. Call in your order and pick it up.
After an hour and twnty minute wait, the Escovitch King Fish was well seasoned and moist. Unfortunately all the plantains were sold during the wait for the fish. Rather than wait another 20 minutes for a new batch of plantains, I got cabbage - a healthier and delicious substitution.
The chicken soup was yummy with spare provisions in my healthy portion. The curry goat was tender and okay.
The food here is great but the service is all bad. I’ve been a customer of this restaurant for 4 years. Despite the poor service I still supported this business but not after my experience today. I spent $20 on an entree that was delivered to me as 1/2 the proportion that I should have received. Imagine ordering chicken w/ cabbage & plantain but when it shows up the cabbage & plantain are on the main entree side & you just have a little chicken where the sides usually are. Ilthat is what happened to me. I called to voice my frustration. I was told that was the normal portion size & that no manager was available to help me. No apology or anything. I asked if someone wanted to contact me before I shared my issue online & no one contacted me. As a customer that supported this business for several years & as a sistah that goes out of her way to support business of Black & Brown people I am heavily disappointed and upset.
Best Caribbean food I've found in Maryland. Curry is on point and they have roti and buss up shut. Dragon Stout and Carib beer. Cashier has always been nice and helpful. They have a couple TVs so you can watch whatever game is on and reggae music playing in the background.
So far I've had the curry goat and oxtail and both dishes were really good. The size portions and the prices are very reasonable.
Great food! Chicken is cooked outside on a grill which possibly explains the great flavor. My go to place for Jerk in the area. Note: this is not fast food. After placing your order, you will wait for it! Definitely something they need to work on.
More of what's been said before. THE WAIT! it is insane and they give you no info about how long its gonna be when you order. Just take your money and move on to the next person. Not even a "we'll call the number on your receipt when its ready". Far as the food, its good. I can't say it's worth the wait though.
Call your order in then go pick up (hope they answer)
Go when they first open (may be less busy)
Know exactly what you want and back up options they run out of stuff
Go when you have free time
Patience is key
Huge portion of super tasty jerk pork, delicious plantains, and hardo bread! My girlfriend's rice was also delicious, lots of flavor. Would recommend the Irish Moss for a beverage, but only if you're hungry!
I went here for the first time after living in the area for over 10 years. I most say my visit here was way over due. The food was very delicious (oxtails wasn’t the most tender), but the jerk, rice and peas, and oh the plaintains (sticky, sweet, grilled goodness) were my favorite. I will definitely go back again. The 4 stars are given because I have had meatier and more tender oxtails. The atmosphere wasn’t that bad, parking lot can use some tender love and care but the bathrooms were clean at least.
I have heard about the Jerk Pit from several others and finally got the opportunity to try it. I walked into the house to see colorful walls and tiny rooms cramped with people. The menu has a nice variety of selections and prices. The wait was pretty long. I expected it, but it was still long. The food did not disappoint. I got the Jerk chicken with Mac and cheese and cabbage. I would visit again.
I rarely have a pleasant experience when I visit this restaurant. As many Jamaican restaurants, they workers are quite rude and disrespectful. This particular restaurant is always dirty inside and out. The cashiers are not very welcoming and inviting and almost NEVER smiles. The food is a hit or miss, but in my experience mostly decent. I guess this is the reason why this restaurant is still open. Overall, I'm gonna limit my visit here, because there are plenty other Jamiacan restaurants within 25 miles of this place. I recommended teaching your workers some customer service skills, and make the place look presentable.
This place is a joke. They messed my order up
On more than one occasion. They wouldn’t even refund my whole order, picking and choosing what they want to refund. I tried to be patient and reasonable and they obviously don’t care about retaining business. I’m very upset and be careful when ordering from here, as they have a habit of giving you the wrong food. Customer service is terrible and getting the wrong is even worse!
Updated edit: only because I love and respect your wife am I updating this review. But in all sincerity, your front house staff should reflect and treat customers in the same manner that you respond to customers who leave you reviews for you on here. I don’t know if i will be back and it’s a shame, because I love your food, but I felt very disrespected yesterday while being patient and calm with your staff. I appreciate the reply.
1st visit. Awesome flavorful meal. Fully enjoyed the Half jerk chicken meal with cabbage and plantains with rice & beans. Generous helpings. Affordable. CANT WAIT FOR 2ND VISIT!!
Took a little while for the food to be cooked, especially the festival, but it was worth it. It's not the fanciest place but that's not what you go for. You go for authentic Jamaican food and that's just what you get. The staff were great and the food that I had, wings, coco bread, festival, and plantain, were even better.
STOP MESSING UP PEOPLE'S PHONE ORDERS! DANG.
The staff here could learn how to ACTIVELY listen over the phone. It's very important that you pay attention to your customers because we spend good money here for quality food. Maybe if the music is turned down a bit you won't risk any confusion with the orders. That way you will hear us better
The food is good. Customer service on the phone us very bad. They answer the phone and put you on hold and never come back to take your order.
Sub par Caribbean food and a very archaic dining area. Too many random men with sunglasses just hanging out doesn't help the atmosphere and the staff isn't very welcoming. The place needs a makeover.
It's small and intimate. The crowd there is mature and classy. The music is descent and just what we were looking for for a girls night out in town for dancing and cocktails. You don't have people grinding on you or touching inappropriately. I will definitely be going back.
I walk in and place my order. People keep walking in and placing orders and getting their food right away. They asked me three times what my number was. Only after the third time they asked me, did they say they would start my order, AFTER AN HOUR SITTING THERE WAITING. It took 3 people to work the cash register at once, people from the back kept walking up and back. They are very relaxed and don’t car wash how long it takes as long as you pay them. Very upset.
I was greeted very politely when I came in and helped promptly...my order was already ready when I arrived and 100% correct. They also gave me a courtesy call ahead of time to let me know they were out of an item I wanted & they replaced it with another item. The food was just about the best Caribbean I have ever had....they did not skimp on the flavor whatsoever. Whoever is in the kitchen is blessed with talent...5 stars!
Very intimate indeed. Just wish they had a backstage entrance for the artists. It feels a lot more intimate than other concert venues and the drinks aren't expensive!
Good food extremely long wait for it. Decent prices. The chicken trio amazing..the oxtail too sweet for me..not used to sweet tasting oxtail.
Wow, this was a small mom and pop restaurant, the food was unbelievably good. The service is a little slow if there is a big line , but that is taken care of as soon as fresh, well cooked and the thoughtful food arrives. The people who work there are very courteous, well mannered and nice. Loved the food, loved the place and loved the people.
Staff was friendly and had good service. Food was very good. Glad i stopped in, and will probably go out of my way to come back
This place needs a good scrub down. Always so dingy looking. The food was okay. I’ve had better.
This is my favorite place to eat outside of my mom's kitchen! This is definitely the link up spot when family is in town. Perfect place to break bread in true family fashion! The food is always on point and it's always a vibe! #BlessUp
This place is a hidden jem.. no honestly it's kind of hidden, its tucked back off the road a touch.
The food is always amazing. I love going there. Catch the lunch buffet if you have a chance.
One of the best restaurants in College Park. Delicious and nice portions. I usually get the large Jerk Pork with Mac n Cheese and Plantains! Their BBQ sauce is great too :)
Zero Stars!!!! This restaurant is the absolute worst at customer service! Attempted to have a large order catered at my place of business and not only did the driver pull up at the wrong location, but he also was an hour and a half late! Mind you, we did not use Grub-Hub or Uber Eats as the courier for this order. The delivery was straight from the restaurant itself. When attempts were made to reach out to the restaurant for information on the lateness, their phone simply rang and rang or was busy! The mailbox was full as well! I have never witnessed such unprofessional behavior! I finally spoke to someone after telling the driver to turn around and go back to the restaurant, because we were no longer going to need the food. We are requesting a full reimbursement of this prepaid disaster!
If you still want to eat here: My advice is to go the store directly. Delivery is the worst! I will never get to know about how good the food might possibly be because I am never attempting to eat here again! Beware!
Great food! Great portion, you won't be disappointed. If this is your first time, i recommend the chicken sampler. A scoop of all their specialty for you to taste. Only dispute I have is that they are extremely packed Friday and Saturday and never pick up the phone for call in order. You HAVE to go in to place your order and then wait for your number to be called. But it's worth it!
Owner needs to hire more staff or have other workers train to serve food. Customers shouldn't be waiting over 25 minutes for food. The food is already cooked, so Management or owner should do every thing to get customers out as quick as possible especially when most people got a short lunch break. The food was very good, season to perfection. Place could be cleaner. Too much paper all over the counter where customers are waiting to be served.
First out, I would give the food 6 out of 10. The remainder of the service there is better left unsaid. We had to wait for over 30 minutes to have our food before us. That is not counting another 30 to wait in line to place your order. Only one waiter was in attendance, it was very frustrating to sit in a cramped dinning room with limited facilities
I have two coworkers that eat exclusively at this restaurant. One from Jamaica and one from Trinidad and Tobago. They say it taste just like home. I don't personally know about that but I can say it's delicious.
Only negative is it tends to be a decent wait for orders. If recommend calling in orders to pickup.
Couldn't find a super late night spot for food to carry out -- So Googled, and this popped up. I ordered a large oxtail dinner, and my sister got brown stew chicken. PHENOMENAL! We didn't experience any of the customer service issues people talk about on here, and was packed, busy, with the phone ringing off the hook, approaching 2am. The young lady taking orders handled the pressure and flow, extremely well! We ordered drinks while waiting for our food, and before we finished our drink, our number was called. Will definitely be back! I've driven to Rockville and Silver Spring...Even Baltimore for good Jamaican food. So happy to have found this, just a few miles down the street from my house. Winning!
Wow All I can say is wow. I am a huge Caribbean foodie for years. This place goes above and beyond. First off they HAD food. Which you know doesn't always happen in a Caribbean place. Second off the portions were ridiculous. Third the customer service was great and cashiers fast and friendly which is not the norm when you go to a Caribbean restaurant. I went yesterday for the first time and going back today. Gonna try the jerk pork! I had ox tail and curry goat yesterday.
Very pleasantly surprised by this place. The food was great service was good. Best Oxtails I have ever had.
Ordered the jerk pit through Grubhub delivery and was not disappointed! I got the two meat entree with oxtail and jerk chicken. My sides were vegetables and...read this and 275 more
